(On AO3 Here)
In retrospect, Sam really shouldn’t have been as surprised as he was when he was the first person T’Challa asks to hang out with socially.
He’s in New York, working with Tony and Steve on setting up the Avengers again. Sam is tagging along, mostly to make sure that Tony and Steve don’t kill each other, but also because being in New York, and being bankrolled by Tony Stark is basically his childhood dream.
He’s gone to Broadway at least 11 times in two weeks. Steve is somewhere between amused and bemused.
Still, when T’Challa comes sidling up to him after a meeting, surrounded by stunningly beautiful women holding large spears, he wonders if he’s going to die. What he doesn’t expect is–
“So, you like the theater, Mr. Wilson?”
“Um,” Sam says, trying to make his brain work faster. “Yes?”
“Wonderful,” he continues, his smile is so disarming, “would you care to join me tonight? Nakia is busy in Oakland and I confess I am… Curious about western theater.”
Sam nods, feeling completely out of his element but T’Challa looks thrilled. “I will pick you up at six, I would also like to have dinner.”
Looking back it’s logical, T’Challa is not used to being surrounded by white people, not even close to used to being a minority. And Tony, and Steve, who do try their best, have their white alpha male tendencies that make them discount anyone else in the room. T’Challa doesn’t let them, his quiet charisma rips through both their showboating, but he has to work for it.
Sam, for his part, is actually really excited to have other black people around him. He knows it’s different, they’re from Wakanda, they don’t have the same relationship to whiteness that he does. They feel like fish out of water, in a different culture where they are a minority. Sam sometimes feels like he’s a drowning fish, being pushed under oppressive waves just when he gets his head up.
They do have fun at the theater. Sam is once again shocked (and he shouldn’t have been) by the depth of T’Challa’s sensitivity and warmth. He tears up during the play without shame and comments on the beauty of it. Sam is just amazed that this strong man, this leader, a pillar of his community, has the generosity of spirit to tear up when he sees something beautiful. It makes him wonder what Wakanda is like, to create people like T’Challa.
Sam is not remotely surprised when T’Challa invites him to Wakanda with him. Steve watches him in barely concealed jealousy as he gets loaded up into the Wakandan ship. He knows that Steve is desperately curious about Bucky, and Sam has promised to check in on him.
“I hope you will like Wakanda,” T’Challa says, clapping his shoulder and sitting next to him. “Soon we will invite the rest of your friends too. We just thought we should start small, with the council.”
Sam laughed, “I’m sure I will, man. And they’ll be fine, I love making ‘em jealous. Y’all are cool, what’s the food situation out there?”
Spicy, apparently. Sam spent the entire first dinner crying while the Queen-Mother stared at him and the Princess laughs (”my god, man! Call me Shuri. Princess makes me feel ridiculous.”)
T’Challa takes it in stride and ignores it, Sam is more grateful than he can possibly say.
“I would like for you to join me at the council meeting tomorrow,” he says, lapping up his spicy curry without blinking.
“Yeah, man. Sure,” Sam manages to choke out, “anything I should be aware of?”
T’Challa leans back and thinks, “The Jabari tribe, which has been isolated for centuries, has recently rejoined our council. M’Baku, the tribe leader, he is a bit… Tempestuous. Be wary of him.”
Sam nods and swallows down some milk, cooling the burn.
Sam loves Wakanda. The bright colors, the architecture, the people milling about, surrounded by technology and tradition and food and music. He almost can’t believe a place like this exists.
He is able to walk around a bit, before the council meeting the next day. Nakia, the King’s girlfriend, decides to join him. Upon meeting her, he immediately realizes he was wrong, she is hardly just the King’s girlfriend. Nakia is amazing, and Sam is half in love with her.
“You must try this,” she says, dragging him to a street vendor selling meat. “It will blow you away.”
And damn, it did. It was some of the best meat he’s ever had.
“So, how’s California treating you?”
Nakia laughs a little under her breath, “it is hard, to be away so long. I was a spy before, I am used to leaving… This time though, it feels a little harder. Besides, the water in America is not as good of quality, I can not drink the tap water. It is very difficult.”
Sam chokes on a laugh but nods understandingly. He presumes she’s referring to constantly having to leave T’Challa, who spends most of his time in his country while she is in the United States. When he saw them walking together, he assumed she would be regal to the point of not relatable, the type of woman who is a queen. Maybe a non-murderous Lady Macbeth.
And she is all those things, fierce, intelligent, but so unbelievably kind and loyal, Sam is honestly blown away. And when T’Challa and her are together, he gets the benefit of watching them both melt. The respect and love in their eyes, in their words, in the way they trust each other so completely, is honestly mind-blowing. Sam doesn’t know if he’s ever seen a love like theirs. It is beautiful, but honestly… It makes him a little lonely.
“We must get going,” she says, pulling Sam out of his thoughts, “the meeting will start soon.”
Sam had been expecting a boardroom table for the meeting, high backs and a huge table separating everyone. He’s pleasantly surprised by a huge, regal room, with several chairs in the center that are cozy and close. The other members are already there, looking at him with judgment.
“The last American we had here,” a woman began, Sam assumes she is a tribe leader, “he tried to lay waste to our way of life. He tried to destroy our traditions. And yet, you allow another one inside our borders.”
T’Challa is calm. “We can not judge all Americans based on N'Jadaka. He was struggling with… Other things. Sam is a model of America, a good soldier, and a good man. Bast has blessed us with his company.”
Sam shifts uncomfortably, and can’t help blurting out, “listen, I’m not trying to cause any trouble. I’m just–”
“Please stop,” a voice cuts in, it’s deep and draws Sam’s eyes. Sitting in a chair, thighs spread wide, is a really really hot guy. Sam stared at him for longer than appropriate and wondered again if there is something in the water. Okoye, Nakia, T’Challa… They were all gorgeous. But this guy… Something about him.
“M’Baku,” T’Challa says, and that catches Sam’s attention. This guy is the loose cannon that T’Challa warned him about. “Let him speak for himself.”
M’Baku rolls his eyes and leans back in his chair, Sam’s mouth goes a little dry at the movement but forces himself to focus.
“All I want is to experience this great land. Wakanda is amazing and filled with such wonderful people, I could not be more honored that I am the first guest formally recognized on this soil. You can trust me.”
The council is quiet for a moment before they seem to make eye contact. Sam can’t breathe, but apparently, he passed some type of test, because they move on to other items on the agenda without looking at him again. He can’t help but sigh in relief and look for an exit.
He makes eye contact with Okoye who nods and gestures to the door, and he starts out.
“So, Sam Wilson,” a voice interrupts him once he’s outside the chamber. “The first American to be invited formally to our country. Their country. The Jabari did not invite you.”
Sam turns slowly to face M’Baku. He has to look up slightly, M’Baku has five inches on him and more than that in general heft. Sam is a man built to fly, but M’Baku looks like he could shake the earth.
“I’m sorry to hear that man,” Sam says, shaking his head ruefully, “but I’m here now, aren’t I? Sorry, ya lost, flyboy.”
“Flyboy?” M’Baku says, tilting his head to the side slightly, and it is unfairly adorable. “I thought it was you who… Can fly.”
Sam chuckles, “I am, but don’t worry your pretty head about it. Just an American expression.”
M’Baku looks even more calculating now. “Pretty?”
Sam kind of wants to shoot himself. Instead, he splutters out uselessly,“I have to go. Shuri… The Princess is expecting me.”
He hears the rolling sound of M’Baku’s laughter as he walks away briskly, his face burning. He’s not here to flirt with tribe leaders, especially ones who are not trusted by your friend. Because it violates the bro-code and he and T’Challa are totally bros. So. Whatever.
He should have known that wasn’t the end of it. M’Baku just starts appearing after that. When Sam is doing his morning runs, when he’s wandering the shops, when he’s on art history tours given by 21-year-old kids. He’s there, giving snarky, but devastatingly intelligent insight on everything Wakanda has to offer.
At first, Sam tries to avoid him, desperate to not cause too much trouble. Then T’Challa, who is much more observant that Sam gave him credit for, simply said one day, “M’Baku is a man of honor. I am glad he has taken to you so well.”
Sam cocked his head to the side, “no, man. I’m not disobeying you or whatever. He just keeps appearing everywhere. I know you don’t trust him–”
T’Challa looks down, hiding a smile, “Sam. It is okay. M’Baku is difficult, surely. But he is a good man. With a good heart. And so are you.”
“Listen, I don’t know what you think–”
“I know in America,” T’Challa cuts him off, “there are certain thoughts and assumptions about life partners. About masculinity and what that means. It is different here, Sam. M’Baku has never loved women.”
“He…” Sam is at a loss, “but… He?”
T’Challa shrugs, “Bast and hanuman see hearts, and goodness, and honor. They are not concerned with trivialities of gender.”
And that had been the end of that, apparently. Now, Sam doesn’t know what to do.
M’Baku is apparently more than fair game, and there is nothing cultural stopping him. Now that he knows that he takes to looking around at the other people in town more, and he notices how many women are holding hands, and how many young men are playing footsie, and how many old men are walking in the park. It’s a little dizzying, to be surrounded by so much love and acceptance.
The other problem is M’Baku himself. He’s… Sam is not sure where he stands with him. Some days, Sam is sure they are flirting, walking next to the flower market while M’Baku makes him laugh and mocks him for loving the bright flora so much.
Some days, he’s sure M’Baku thinks he’s an idiot. On those days he’s cold, and difficult to read. It’s hard to keep his head on straight.
In the meantime, he observes Nakia and T’Challa again. Their easy camaraderie, their deep love. He can tell that they are best friends as well as lovers, holding hands so softly as they walk through the gardens of the palace. He sighs to himself.
“American minds aren’t meant to think so much.”
Sam turns around and smiles, M’Baku is standing behind him holding flowers from the market. Sam is particularly fond of them, though he’s sure no one knows, he’s never bought them. He just spends extra long looking at them.
“These… They are for you,” M’Baku said, curtly.
“For me, man? Why? Why these?”
M’Baku shrugged, “they are your favorite. You always make us stop and stand for so long when the shop has them. So here. Maybe now you’ll stop dragging me all the way there just to look at them.”
Sam can’t help the grin that spreads across his face. “Thank you, M’Baku. That was really nice of you.”
“Pah,” M’Baku says, using his hands to physically push Sam’s sentiment away, “it is a matter of practicality.”
“Sure,” Sam agrees with amusement.
“I…” M’Baku starts, “I have to go.”
Sam watches in confusion as M’Baku practically sprints away from him.
“He likes you, you know,” Shuri says, her eyes are still hyperfocused on his wings. She’s offered “a few minor improvements” that Sam is sure will make Tony nut.
“Who?” Sam asks, playing dumb.
She looks up for a moment and narrows her eyes, “don’t play stupid, Sam. My brother and I have been talking about it.”
“I… What? T’Challa…” Sam splutters, completely betrayed.
Shuri shakes her head. “Stop being stupid, Sam Wilson. He has given you flowers. What more are you waiting for!”
“I don’t know,” Sam asks sarcastically, “emotional availability.”
Shuri rolls her eyes, “he is emotionally available to you. You are just stubborn.”
“Is it so wrong for me to want him to actually say something? In words?”
Shuri slaps him upside the head, “you’re a fool. He doesn’t use his words. He uses actions. He showed you he cared with the flowers, and now he’s waiting for your action.”
Sam stares at her for a. moment, amazed that he’s so stupid, before presses a kiss to her forehead and runs out of her lab screaming, “you’re a god damn genius.”
He finds M’Baku easily, though something tells him that if he didn’t want to be found Sam would never find him. He is sitting on a chair in a small restaurant sipping on mint tea. Sam slides in next to him.
He takes a moment to bask in this, he’s never felt so instantly comfortable with anyone. He somehow just knows that M’Baku will always be there to back him up, loyally and kindly, with wisdom and honor.
He also takes a moment to realize that now that he’s here, he doesn’t know what to do.
“I liked your flowers,” Sam blurted out.
“So you mentioned,” M’Baku replied calmly, taking another drink of his tea.
“Why are you down here so much?” Sam can’t help but ask, “your tribe. They’re all in the mountains.”
M’Baku looks at him for a long moment, before taking another sip of tea. “I think you know why.”
“Do you… Do you want… Do you want to maybe go on a date? With me?” Sam asks, finally at his wit’s end.
M’Baku laughs, and it stings. Sam turns away to face the crowd again, gearing up to leave, when a hand grabs his wrist.
“Sam Wilson,” M’Baku says softly, “we have been on a dozen “dates,” He puts the word in quotes. “I did that for you. Because of your American culture.”
“Oh…” Sam says, totally caught off guard. “So… What do you want to do?”
M’Baku’s grin turns dark and dirty before he leans over slightly to kiss Sam right in the middle of a busy shop. It’s powerful and forceful and Sam barely manages to hang on while M’Baku proved that he’s a plunderer at heart.
“That,” M’Baku says pulling back slightly and licking his lips,” is what I want to do.”
Sam nods, a smile pulling at his face, “yeah. I want that too.”

Stroke of Midnight- Chapter 14 (Pennywise x reader)
You were clearing out the book drop right before the library opened when you found a small, bulky, white envelope.  And not the kind that letters were mailed in. It was thick and formal looking. And it had your name on it. You ran your finger over it and found that the lump was in a circular pattern. You opened it. Your mouth fell open when you pulled out a beautiful gold and silver intertwined bracelet. It was a made of some kind of stretchy, bouncy metal. There were two charms on it. A gold sun and a silver moon. A smile came to your face. You placed the bracelet down carefully on the desk and opened the envelope further. There was a note inside.
It looks like they joined after all. Meet me tonight at 29 Neibolt Street.
Wear your red dress.
…Yes I know you have a red dress.
You pressed the note to your chest, right over your heart. He remembered your story about your sun and moon drawing. And your red dress? It was a short one that you only wore on special occasions. You had never shown it to Pennywise, but of course he still knew about it. He had probably gone through your whole house by now when you weren’t aware of it. You put the bracelet on and tucked away the note. The bracelet was a perfect fit, like it was made for you.
Eight hours went by painstakingly slow. In your spare time between patrons, you found yourself daydreaming about what Roman—you were pretty sure it was Roman who had sent you the gift—could possibly have planned for you that would involve the Neibolt house and a nice dress.
After work you went home and prepped yourself for your date. You curled your hair and put on your red sparkly spaghetti strap dress. The top of the dress was a normal red which got darker the farther down it got, leading to a deep wine red at the bottom. You put on your makeup, complete with red lipstick and three rhinestone stickies next to each eye. Lastly you put on your new bracelet and your dark red, strappy shoes. Thank goodness the heels weren’t too high. Some of the floorboards in the Neibolt house were loose. The last thing you needed was to trip and break your ankle. Not that you would have minded Pennywise having to carry you around for a while.
You checked yourself out in your full length bedroom mirror.  You looked regal. A princess going to meet her prince.
You got in your car and drove off. You pulled up at the Neibolt house. And then it hit you. You had never been inside at night. The house didn’t have any working electricity that you knew of. Now you were really confused of as to what Roman was planning. You locked your car and carefully made your way to the front door. You hadn’t tripped yet. So far, so good. You opened the front door. Sure enough, the house was pitch dark.
“Roman,” you called.
You opened the door farther and gasped at what you saw before you. There were two lines of candles forming a pathway along the floor. They were the only light in the house that you could see. The path disappeared to the right behind a wall. You smiled. It was like something out of a fairy tale.
You placed your car keys on a small table that stood next to the door and followed the trail, your heels clicking on the wood floor. You turned the corner and went into the next room. It was a large room that you hadn’t seen before. Roman was standing in the middle of it with his back to you. He turned. Your heart almost stopped. He was wearing a black suit with a shiny black shirt and red tie.
You approached him slowly. “I see we both got the red memo.”
Roman’s eyes roamed your body. Your dress sparkled in the candlelight.
“Y/N, I swear on all that I am… I never knew true beauty until I met you.”
You felt like the world had stood still. Never in your life had someone spoken such words to you. You felt like you were suspended in space, surrounded by light, a path of light that had led you to him. And you knew at that moment, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you had fallen in love.
You were in love with Roman.
“I feel like we’re the only two people in the world right now,” you told him. “Just me and you in this house.”
Roman smiled. “Wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Well…except the fact that you would have to lose everyone you love.”
You tilted your head sideways. "You don't have anyone that you love? No family or friends?"
"Love is a very... unattainable concept to me. I've never had want or need of it. Until now."
You forgot how to breathe all of a sudden. You felt like all the air had left your lungs. Your legs were wobbly as you closed the distance between you.
"Roman, what are you saying?" you asked in a shaky voice.
He didn't answer you. Instead he lifted your wrist, the one that held your charm bracelet.
"I gave you this as a symbol. You said the sun and moon could never be together. But they are. We are, Y/N. I don't want to be without you. I don't want you to ever doubt that I'll ever be around. That I'll never take care of you. Of your needs and desires. Of your dreams."
He grabbed your hand and held it against his chest. You felt tears pooling in your eyes.
"I love you, Y/N."
You let out a shaky breath and brought your other hand up to cover your mouth. The tears started to fall. You didn't say anything as his words rang in your ears like a crystal clear bell.
He loved you. You wiped at your cheeks, suddenly glad you were wearing waterproof mascara.
"Kitten, say something," he said gently.
So you said the only thing you could say. The only truth you knew anymore.
"I love you too."
Roman’s face split into a huge grin and he laughed. You started laughing also as he grabbed you and threw his arms around you tightly. You embraced him back just as strongly. The two of you broke apart and he bent down to kiss you passionately. You returned his kiss with fervor. When you broke apart you instantly started laughing.
“What?” Roman asked, totally perplexed.
You laughed harder.
“What’s so funny?”
You pointed at your mouth. “You have…lipstick on you.”
Roman started chuckling. “Oh? And this is something new?” He licked the smeared lipstick off his lips and smacked.
You wiped away another tear, this one from laughter. “No. It’s just, you’re the one who usually gets red on me.”
Roman watched you as your giddy, in love moment subsided. "You're amazing."
"Me?" You were in shock. "I'm just a normal human girl."
He reached out and clasped both of your arms. "You are so much more than that, my darling. One day I will make you see that."
You let out a content sigh. "So what are we here for?"
"Oh. Of course. Step back a minute."
You stepped away from Roman. He knelt. There was a trap door in the floor. You hadn't noticed it before. Roman grabbed the handle and pulled. The door opened with a rusty squeak. Your mouth opened in awe, you leaned over. Wrought iron spiraled stairs led downward. A soft light illuminated the stairs. You couldn’t tell what it was coming from.
"What is that?"
"That is the last of my abilities that I have not shown you."
Roman glanced up at you. His eyes glowed yellow in the candlelight and for a moment you remembered who you were really with.
“Is there a room down there?” you asked.
“Yes. It’s what’s in that room that I want to show you.”
“Roman, I don’t know.” You chewed on your bottom lip. It wasn’t that you didn’t trust him, you just didn’t want to go and get stuck somewhere underground with no other exit.
“Look, we don’t have to go if you don’t want. I’d completely understand.”
You sighed. Of course you didn’t want to upset your boyfriend. “Um…” was all you could say. You mentally tried to calculate how you were going to climb down in your heels.
“What’s wrong?”
“Are you sure this is safe?”
Roman chuckled. “Darling, I’ve been down there. Trust me, it’s safe.”
“I know, but it’s just so…” You made a downward swooshing motion, “down there.”
“I won’t let anything happen to you, kitten. I promise.”
You took a deep breath and bent to take off your shoes. The last thing you needed was to fall down and die of a broken neck after the man you loved just admitted that he loved you back.
“I’ll go first.” Roman stood and gave you a quick kiss on the mouth, then started descending.
You waited until he was down low enough, then started climbing down. It was a slow process. You kept one hand on the wall as you went to steady yourself. The walls were made of stone and for some strange reason, you felt like you were climbing down a well. After a while, your muscles started to tense. You swallowed and let out an uneasy breath as claustrophobia started to set in.
“How much farther?” you asked.
“Not much. You doing alright?”
“Peachy.”
You breathed the sigh of relief when you reached the bottom. Roman grabbed your hand. “You ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be. Beam me up, Scotty.”
Roman chuckled. He led you down a short tunnel. When you got to the end of it, you froze. Your mouth fell open in complete shock.
You were in a large ballroom. The floors were shiny wood. Large, gilded mirrors hung along the left wall. Bright lights hung on the wall in between each of them. But it was what was in the room that shocked you even more. Straight ahead, on the other side of the room, sat a full-sized carousel. You could faintly hear circus music coming from it. To the right of it, closer to you, was a tall slide. The surface of the slide itself gleamed like it was freshly polished.
You slowly stepped into the room, glancing around you as you went. You glanced up at the ceiling. Chandeliers hung interspersed, and the ceiling itself was polished with a golden finish. You could see a distorted reflection of yourself and Roman in it.
“I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore, Toto,” you muttered to yourself.
“Do you like it?” Roman asked.
“It’s a ballroom… with a carousel… and a slide… under the Neibolt house.”
“I know. I had to touch some things up a bit, and I added the rides, but… do you like it?” Roman was watching you, his bottom lip tucked between his teeth.
“Like is not the question.’’ You held up one finger. “How in the hell did you…” You swept your finger in a circle. “I don’t…” You turned to him and slowly shook your head.
Roman quickly walked up to you and placed his hands on your shoulders. “Look, I know this is the wildest and most…unbelievable thing that you’ve seen me do, but I need you to trust me. I went through a lot to put this together for you. I still am going through a lot. Being Roman doesn’t take a lot of energy, but this…” He gestured at the room and sighed. “I can understand if you would want to leave. But I’d be disappointed if you did.”
You hung your head, ashamed at yourself for letting Roman think you didn’t trust him. “I’m sorry, baby. I love it. It just…” you shrugged. “It threw me off.”
“I know. I know.” Roman pulled you into a hug. “I’m sorry. I won’t do it again.”
You pulled away from him. “Hey, I’m not that thrown off.”
“So do you want to ride?”
Your eyes grew wide. “Huh?”
He gestured sideways with his head. “The carousel.”
“Oh…sure.”
The two of you started making your way in that direction.
“What did you think I meant?” Roman asked.
Your face got beet red and you glanced away quickly. “Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
You could tell by the bemused look on his face that he didn’t believe you. You rolled your eyes. “Let’s just go. I’ll race you.”
The two of you took off running. Roman easily passed you up.
“No fair. You’re taller,” you yelled as the two of you reached the carousel. You clambered up on a white horse right away. "I haven't been on one of these in years."
Roman climbed up as well. He slapped your horse on the rump. "Then enjoy, my love. You deserve it."
He climbed on the one next to yours. A tiger. The carousel started moving. You felt like you were a kid again. You and Roman rode for a while then you decided you wanted to try the slide. It was taller than it had appeared at first glance. Roman watched you as you came down, your arms up in the air.
"Was that fun, kitten?"
You stood. "Yes it was."
You strode up to him and put your arms out. Roman bent down and you laced your arms behind his neck. He put his around your waist.
"Thank you so much for this. I don't know how you were able to do it, but just...thank you."
"Y/N, there is nothing that I wouldn't do for you."
He kissed you deeply. "So, what do you want to do next?"
"Well..." you glanced around, the wheels in your head turning. "This is a ballroom."
Roman grinned slyly. "So you've noticed that?"
"I did," you said in a high pitched voice. "And you know what ballrooms are good for." You stepped out of his embrace and twirled. Your dress flew out around you.
"Well if you're going to a ball, then you need the proper dress." Roman put his hand on your hip. "Turn again," he whispered.
You started twirling again. As you did you could feel your dress growing longer, fuller. You stopped and glanced down at yourself.
You were wearing a full, red satin ball gown. A white, scroll pattern ran along the breasts of the gown and down the very center of the strapless, heart shaped bodice. You ran your hands down your sides. You grabbed the skirt and pulled it outwards.
"Roman," you breathed. "This is-"
"A gown fit for a princess?"
“This is beyond amazing. And so very beautiful.”
Roman sautered up to you. He put his hands on your waist. “You’re my queen, Y/N. My mate. Everything that is within my power to give you is yours.”
You grabbed one of his hands off your waist and put your other hand on his shoulder. “Then…my king, may I have this dance?”
“Yes, you may.”
There was no music playing besides the faint music coming from the carousel. But that was fine with you. Roman twirled you around on the ballroom floor. At one point you glanced in one of the mirrors and did a double-take when you saw Roman’s reflection. It was Pennywise.
Roman notice and squeezed your hand. “Now you can dance with both of us.”
Your grin was as wide as the moon. “And I don’t have to worry about the clock striking midnight either.”
Roman laughed, a deep, hearty laugh. “No you don’t, Cinderella. No you don’t.”
**********
You could tell Roman was tired when he changed your dress back so that you could climb back up more easily. By the time you got back to the top, you were more than ready to lay down and go to sleep, but first you had to tell Roman something that had been in the back of your mind for a while now.
“What is it?” He could always tell when something was bothering you.
“Roman, I want to go see Chris.”
He pursed his lips. “Alright.”
“I just…I still feel so bad for him. I don’t regret a minute of having you by my side for the play, but I still can’t help but feel like he was cheated. I feel like I have to at least go and check up on him.
You could see a muscle move in Roman’s jaw. “If you want to go, I’m not gonna stop you. You have every right to talk to who you want to.”
You breathed a sigh of relief. You’d had no idea if Roman was going to get jealous or not and were relieved that he wasn’t, or at least he didn’t express otherwise.
You grabbed Roman’s hand and held it. “Thank you, baby.”
He brought your hand up and kissed it. “You know you’re precious to me.”
He led you to a room that you had been in before. Only this time, it looked totally different. It was the same mattress where Pennywise had tongue fucked you on. But this time there were white sheets on it and two white pillows. Several candles burned around it.
"Baby, this is amazing. You think of me so much."
You turned to face Roman. His face looked pale in the candlelight and his eyes were droopy. You reached up to touch his face. "You tired, baby?"
"Very."
"Then let's go lay down."
You went to lay on the mattress, but Roman grabbed your arm. You turned back to him.
"I won't be seeing you for the next few days," he said.
Your face fell. "What? Why?"
"I need to...recharge. I've done a lot lately. More than I'm used to."
You sighed loudly. "And it's all my fault."
He shook his head. "No. No, it's not. I don't regret anything I've done for you." He reached up to touch your face. "But I can only do so much."
You went for the mattress again, but he stopped you again. Roman lowered his head and kissed you gently.
"I don't even know why I'm staying tonight. My car is outside. People will talk," you said.
"People pass, my love. You and I are forever."
That was all you needed to hear. You pressed your lips to Roman's in a heated kiss. He returned it eagerly. You felt him lift the hem of your dress and slide it up your body. You raised your arms and he removed the garment. You started working on Roman's tie, but he grabbed your hands to stop you.
Roman bent down and slowly removed your panties. He placed one of his hands on each of your thighs and stared rubbing them. Then he put his mouth on your nub and started gently lapping at you. You almost melted in a pool of desire. But before he could get going, you stopped him. Roman abruptly stood. As soon as he was up, you started pulling at his tie like a mad woman.
"You'd better get these clothes off, Roman. Because if I'm not gonna see you in a few days, you're gonna fuck me." You ripped off his tie and threw it on the ground. "Right now."
Roman's eyes flashed yellow. An inhuman growl escaped his throat. "Fuck. Yes."
His lips crashed into yours. You pulled him down on top of you. His suit jacket came off. Buttons went flying as his shirt came off. You didn't know how he managed to get his pants off just as fast, but he did.
When he slid into you, you almost cried in relief. Roman started bucking against you, pushing himself farther in until he slammed into your g-spot. You cried out. He fucked you relentlessly. But it wasn't like you didn't ask for it. After your wild bout of lust wore off, you asked him to slow down. He obliged you. He rode you more slowly, and when your orgasm came, it was like calm, yet forcefully waves washing against the shore.
When you were both done, he cradled you in his arms.
“This is the best night of my life,” you said.
Roman kissed your temple. “Good, kitten. I want us to have many more like this.”
“I love you, Roman.”
“I love you. Now go to sleep. And dream of me.”
You closed your eyes and snuggled against him, a smile on your face, and fell into a content sleep.
**********
Chris Sheffield sat up in bed and rubbed his neck. It had been a week since his car accident, but his neck and shoulder still acted up. He went downstairs to get his bottle of pain pills. He got them out the cabinet and popped one in his mouth. He then grabbed a glass of water to wash it down with. Chris turned around to go put the pills back where he got them and screamed. The bottle of pills clattered to the floor.
A massive clown loomed before him. The same clown that had been haunting Chris’s nightmares for the past week. A demented grin adorned his cracked, white face.
The clown lunged.

Fander Secret Santa/Gift Exchange
@silverglimse-productions  Here it is! I’m so sorry it took so long, and I hope it turned out okay. I’m sorry if it’s not exactly what you wanted, I did my best.Also @fander-secret-santa you wanted to b tagged in these as well!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--"Agent 005, Agent 003, I have your new mission." A crisp and sinister voice said from the shadows. A dark and foreboding figure was barely visible.
--"Yes, sir. What is the mission?" A calm voice responded, yet there was a slight tremor of fear in its undertones.
--"We did our random selection, and the human you must antagonize is known as Thomas Sanders. Try your damnest to convince him that relinquishing his soul to me is the best option." The voice informed the two people standing before him.  "You're my best agents, don't fail me."
--"Yes, sir. We'll embark right away. Are we allowed to bring the usual supplies?" The calm voice spoke.
--"You may."
--"Thank you, sir. It's greatly appreciated." A different voice said. This one was a few octaves lower and sounded faintly raspy.
--"If you fail to collect his soul, kill him."
-=+=-
--"Patton, Roman! We have an assignment for you." A light and airy, yet regal, voice called.
--Two figures approached, one rather tall and the the other just a bit shorter than them.
--"Whatever you need, boss lady!" Responded a cheery and rather high octaved voice responded.
--"A man named Thomas Sanders is next on our list for a guardian angel. Because we haven't been as busy these last few centuries, we're sending both of you!" The regal voice informed joyfully.
--"Thanks boss! We'll leave right now!" A lower voice responded, filled with natural pride.
--"Do we take the usuals?" The proud voice asked.
--"Of course! If you need more while in the field just contact us." The light voice assured.
--"Okie dokie let's get this show on the road!" The higher octaved voice said enthusiastically.
-=+=-
--Thomas was sitting on his couch, a plate with a cold, half-eaten slice of pizza sitting nearby. He was scrolling through his Tumblr and answering some of the questions in his ask box. It was a calm and relaxing night for Thomas. Then his computer glitched, trapping him on the 'reblog a post' screen. Thomas frowned and hit a couple keys, hoping it's just lag. When nothing happened he groaned and restarted the computer, setting it on the couch while he stood up.
--Thomas grabbed his plate and carried it into the kitchen. He debated throwing it away, but then shrugged and put the plate into the fridge. 'I'll probably grab it later.' Thomas told himself, resignedly beginning to wash the dishes.
-=+=-
--A figure was looking at their partner incredulously. Said figure was in a dark hoodie and had dark bags under his eyes. His jeans were rather baggy and had a few rips in them. "Logan, why did you only glitch his computer? Why didn't you, like, make it... catch fire. Or something." The being said to its partner. The other figure, named Logan, was taller than his counterpart. He had on a plain button down shirt with a blue tie. Over top, Logan had a grey vest that was pressed wrinkle free. His pants were khaki dress pants, completing his formal look.
--"Because we need to save the truly tragic 'accidents' for later. We have to start small, Virgil." Logan explained, exasperated. "If we start with large things, it could jeopardize the mission. We have to make him think that we're the only solution."
--Virgil nodded nervously. "What happens if we fail?" He asked, imagining how angry their superior would be. Virgil paced a few steps back and forth before putting two fingers to each of his temples and breathing deeply. He shook his shoulders out and faced Logan again. "Y'know what? I can't deal to think about that right now." Virgil said, his face scrunched up. Logan rested a hand on Virgil's shoulder, doing his best to comfort him. Especially because comfort wasn't his best ability.
-=+=-
--A rather short figure was standing by the couch looking at the computer screen. He had on a pair of khaki pants that fit rather well, paired with a blue shirt that only had a few buttons on top. He had a tan cardigan around his shoulders, aiding the relaxed feel of the outfit. "Roman, would we be able to make his computer go faster?" He asked, looking at Roman.
--Roman smiled at his friend and work partner. "Of course, Patton! I'm sure I could do almost anything to help Thomas here!" He said. Roman was wearing a full on Prince's outfit, his colors mainly being white and red. Roman readjusted his sash and hovered his hand over the computer, concentrating on focusing his powers into it.
--Nothing changed visibly but Roman felt a small heat center in his palm, the cue that he succeeded in whatever he was attempting. Patton smiled at Roman, saying "Good job, kiddo!" enthusiastically. Roman held his hand to his chest, grinning proudly. "See? I told you I could do it!"
-=+=-
--Thomas finished the dishes, letting them dry in the strainer next to the sink. He grabbed a glass and filled it with water before returning to his living room sofa. He grabbed his computer and found that the glitch was gone. "Awesome!" He said, happy that it wasn't a serious matter. He began surfing his usual websites, taking a sip of water every so often.
-=+=-
--Logan was astounded. "Where's the glitch? I made that a permanent thing!" Logan said, facing Virgil. Virgil only shrugged, just as confused as Logan was. Logan brought his hand to his chin, holding back his annoyance at the set back.
-=+=-
--Patton was looking at the computer in confusion, while Roman was looking offended. Patton spoke up and said, "Uh Roman, it doesn't look like it's going any faster...". Roman glowered at Patton. " I realize that! What I can't figure out is why? And how?" He dictated, using grandiose hand gestures. Patton saw a shadow across the room, and almost shrugged to off until he saw it move. He sucked in some air and pulled on Roman's sleeve. "Roman, look!" He whisper-shouted as he pointed. Roman looked at his partner with confusion before he spotted what had concerned Patton.
--Roman released a low growl deep in his throat and marched over to the shadow, drawing his sword. Patton followed close behind insisting things like "Let's solve this amicably, Roman!" And "Please ask before you stab!" Roman paid him no heed, continuing his death march to the shadowed figures.
-=+=-
--Virgil felt a faint sense of danger and spotted a fast approaching ball of light. It was dimly lit but visible if the surroundings are payed well attention to. Virgil felt the danger increase and yanked Logan towards him, backing up as he did so. Suddenly a sword stopped, inches from piercing the wall. A figure materialized, a taller man with a fanciful outfit. Logan stood in front of Virgil, recognizing the aura around the man. Logan also spotted another person behind him. The second man was shorter, and dressed simpler.
--Logan addressed the two figures with tolerance and monotony, but also with a thin layer of disdain.
--"Two of Heaven's forces. May tell why you two are here?" Logan asked, still slightly shielding Virgil who was watching with heavily veiled concern.
--The grandiose one responded with clear distaste. "We were assigned to this man as his guardian angels! Why are you two daemons here?"
--Logan rolled his eyes. "The same reason as you two. We were assigned to this man."
--The shorter man smiled awkwardly. "Maybe we could solve this some other way? A nonviolent way, perhaps?" He asked, shrugging his right shoulder a little.
--Virgil spoke up from behind Logan. "We can't return to our boss without Thomas' soul! We'd be tortured for, like, eternity!" He snarled at the two light figures.
--Said light figures looked at each other with thinly veiled concern. They turned back to the darker figures, and looked closer. While the daemons were putting up an angry front, they could see the faint fear in their eyes. These two people truly were terrified of their boss.
--Patton spoke up, "Tell ya what we'll do.".
-=+=-
--Thomas was rubbing his eyes and getting ready to head up to his bed when he noticed four people standing in front of him. Thomas released a high pitched yelp and nearly fell down. "Who are you people?!" He screamed.
--"I'm Logan and this is my fellow daemon Virgil."
--"I'm Patton and this is my fellow aengel Roman!"
--Thomas stared at them blankly, not knowing how to process the situation. "But... But why are you here?!" Thomas shouted.
--Patton smiled a little. "We'll explain it to you fully, we promise. But the short version is they were assigned to you in order to slowly ruin your life. We were assigned to you in order to make your life better! Now the problem is, most people don't get double assigned. Now they cant go back to their boss without your soul, or else something really bad happens. So we were wondering if the four of us could just stay here! Then they don't have to go back, and worst case scenario we can try and protect them!" Patton explained long windedly.
--Thomas put a hand to his head. "Oh goodness gracious..." He muttered.
--"How am I going to explain you guys to people?" Thomas asked incredulously.
--Virgil spoke this time. "We can hide our selves from view, and we know that you have a YouTube channel. We could help you with that. Y'know, if you want..." He trailed off.
--Thomas sighed. "I really don't want you guys to have to suffer. But this is gonna take so long to get used to..." Thomas brought a hand through his hair and looked at the four beings.
--"I suppose..." He said, somewhat uncertainly.
--The four all smiled in some way. Virgil had a small smirk, Logan had a rather awkward looking smile, Patton was beaming widely, and Roman had a smug smile. For now, everyone was safe.
-=+=-
--A few months later the first Sanders Sides video came out. Thomas had enlisted the help from his friends, all of them agreeing to a vow of secrecy.
Warmth
Imagine: Being the little sister of Daenerys and meeting Jon Snow.
Tumblr media
Your sister, Dany, had been rather firm with you earlier. It left you rather grumpy. You had wanted to be there when she met with this Jon Snow who was the supposed King of the North. Everyone else would be there expect you. You were asked (ordered) to stay in your chambers until Dany said so.
After the meeting, your sister was in a particularly foul mood so you made very sure to steer clear of her. For the next few days, you wandered around what used to be your family’s home and studied in the library. You wanted to brush up on the history of Westeros. In those days you simply forgot about this King and were content to lounge in the company of books.
“So, this is where you have been hiding.” Dany mused seeming to be in a better mood.
Despite the loss of the Greyjoy ships and losing the Dorne as allies, she seemed to be in better spirits. You glanced up from the book you were reading and smiled at your older sister, “I wouldn’t call it hiding.” You answered marking the page you were on and setting the book down, “What brings you down here?” You asked with furrowed eyebrows.
“It has been brought to my attention that Jon Snow thinks I’m hiding you from them and they’re rather suspicious as too why. Tyrion thinks it’s a mistrusting statement towards them by keeping you away from their prying eyes.” You were Daenerys’s most precious item in this world—next to her children. After the death of Viserys and Drogo…Dany only had you left and she vowed that nothing would ever harm you.
Everything she was doing was for you—so that you wouldn’t have to worry about food, shelter, or love. Dany was determined to make a better world for you.
You absorb the information she’s telling you, “And what do you think?”
Dany frowned, “While I can why it seems rather odd that I’m keeping you out of sight…I understand why they’re suddenly antsy. I don’t like…but I want to invite them to a meal…and I want you there.” Dany murmurs coming to sit next to you.
You don’t say anything and ponder. Your stomach felt anxious, why was that? You blink a few times before looking up at your older sister. She’s staring at the collection of books you have accumulated on the table with interest, “Brushing up on your history?” She smiles. She always adored how you were naturally curious about everything. She never had a care for such studies but she was glad that at least you did because it could become very handy in this war.
You nod with a grin, “Yeah, I figured I should learn about Westeros and its houses and lands. I think it’s important that one of us knows the layout of the land. I’ve wanted to study the table in the strategy room but I do not want to disturb you.”  You sheepishly say.
Dany shakes her head, “You are more then welcome to be in there, Y/N. You’re a Princess, don’t forget that.” She informs you with pride.
You snort, “I don’t like the sound of my title.”
Dany is not surprised and she’s quite amused, “And why is that?”
You giggle, “It’s not as great as your title.”
Dany laughs, “My title is boring and long.” It’s the first time in a long time that she has laughed. Your sister didn’t smile or laugh as often…you didn’t blame her. Your sister…has lost her loved ones and gone through terrible ordeals. She was a Queen and was expected to act as such.
The work of a Queen was rather tedious—in your opinion.
“I love you.” You tell her softly because you don’t say it often. You remind yourself everyday that she is only doing this because of you. Everything she has gone through was because she wanted to make a better life for you.
Dany looks at you with clear surprise before her regal safe softens greatly—a rare sight only you are allowed to see. She caresses your cheek and murmurs delicately, “I love you too.” Her voice wavers just the slightest bit.
**
Dinner is an awkward affair. Two days later, you are seated next to your sister. Tyrion is on your sister’s left and you her right. Missandei is next to you as well. Dragonstone is rather chilly but you don’t bother to wear much because your body temperature ran higher due to the dragon blood in you. You don’t dress as any normal…princess? Ugh, how you hated that word.
You were wearing breeches and a tight fitting loose white top. Your hair is spun in perfect curls and touching the floor—Dany always loved how long your hair was. Your hair, for some odd reason, grew quite fast. There some delicate braids that adorned your hair as you stared boredly out the windows over-looking the sea.
“I want to cut my hair.”
Dany glares at your poor joke.
You smirk.
You only say it because it annoys your sister a lot for some reason. Tyrion snickers, “Yes, you tell us everyday.” He says as he drinks his wine.
The food is about to be served when the guests arrive. It is only two of them—you expected more of them. One of them is an older man and the younger man could only be Jon Snow. Dany stands proudly, “Welcome.” You take note of your sister’s lack of title acknowledgement and try not to smile.
Jon bows his head curtly as the man bows with a bit more respect. “Thank you for inviting us.” His voice is gruff and deep—as if he’s inhaled too much smoke and there’s a curious accent to his voice. His black curls adorned his sharp and brooding face. His dark dusty eyes are almost mesmerizing and you could tell there is a story to be told behind the lingering sadness you see in them. There is a scar over his left eye and he is rather pale.
He’s handsome…that much you can say. You’ve never seen such a foreign man before. He’s caught your interest almost instantly. You could feel a slight blush touch your rosy cheeks as his dark eyes land on you. You don’t compose your emotions—you don’t like masking them. You let him see your open curiosity without shame.
“I invited you here because I wanted to formally introduce my sister,” Dany says in her strong but soft voice, “This is Princess Y/N.”
You scowl at your sister, “Really?” You try not to groan, “Princess?”
She tries not to smile at your whining, “It is your title whether you like it or not.” She sits down as Tyrion chuckles at you and Missandei tries to muffle her giggle.
You sighed, “It’s such a boring title…not at all fear-inducing. It doesn’t even capture my personality.” Jon hasn’t taken his eyes off of you. You are aware—very aware—of his blatant staring and it leaves this squirming sensation in the pit of your stomach.
“And what personality is that?” Tyrion questions with a laugh.
Dany couldn’t help but to smile—Jon notices and is taken back.
You glare at the Imp, “Are those fighting words?” You demand hotly and even narrow your eyes playfully.
“Oh, no. I wouldn’t dare go against you.” Tyrion defends with a shake of his head.
You turn to address Jon and his advisor, “It’s nice to finally meet you, King Snow?” You tilt your head to the side in a curious manner, “Is that his proper title?”
His advisor kindly corrects you, “We haven’t figured it out yet.” His accent is also different from Jon’s and thicker. “I can see why Queen Daenerys kept you hidden away,” He smiled at you in a kind way, “You are a very beautiful dragon.” His flattery is amusing and makes you giggle.
Tyrion rolls his eyes.
Dany is amused but keeps it concealed.
Dinner is interesting. You aren’t afraid of asking Ser Davos questions about Westeros and about the North. Both Jon and Ser Davos were wary of telling you about the North but after seeing the naturally curious look on your face….they didn’t give much resistance. Jon is doing his best not to stare because he is well-aware of the stares coming from Dany. You don’t mind…you like his attention.
It is hard to keep your eyes away from him…he’s so nice to stare at.
After dinner, you and Dany are walking together. You are both headed to your respected chambers. Dany is quiet and you are too lost in your smitten thoughts to care. “He seems attracted to you.” Dany looks sour about this.
You look at her, “What?” You try your best not to blush.”
Dany wasn’t sure why she was so upset with the thought of some man taking a fancy to you…it wouldn’t be the first time. She didn’t like any man who drooled over you. You were something very precious to her and she refused to share you with anyone. She was a mother dragon fiercely protective of her children.
“Jon Snow,” She says looking at you for a reaction, “He couldn’t take his eyes off of you.”
You give her an innocent look, “Really? I didn’t notice…” You say with a shrug as you come to the door of your chambers, “I’ll see you tomorrow morning, sister.” You say with a sleepy smile, “I’m going to see if Viserion will let me ride him tomorrow.”
Dany perks up, “You haven’t been with him for a few days…He seems rather antsy.” She advises you.
“I know,” You sigh feeling guilty, “I’ve been so busy with reading that I forgot to go give him some attention.” You frown. Dany bids you goodnight and you retreat into your chambers with a goofy smile as you think about Jon Snow King of the North.
**
The next day, you are on the beach. It’s early in the morning and you are basking in the lazy sunlight. The soothing sounds of water crashing onto the shores are enticing. You are tempted to swim in the water but you knew very well that water is freezing. You are still tempted but your sister would be furious if she found out you were swimming in that water.
Even more furious if you turned up sick.
You hear the sound of wings and then a growl from above. You look up and see Viserion. You beam at the sight of him and he lands beside you. The ground shakes beneath your feet as the massive beast draws his face near to yours. You ran your hand over his scales appreciatively and admire his beauty. He growls lowly as he stares at you.
Above his brothers fly high in the air; roaring and screeching at one another.
You feel very well protected with your favored dragon by your side and his brothers’ watching from above. You even feel warmer due to his large, warm body near yours. The dragon follows you as you walk down the shoreline looking for sea-shells or anything shiny that strikes your eye. Viserion is content to follow for awhile before he takes off into the air when his brothers begin to get rowdy with hunger.
It’s time for them to hunt.
You watch them disappear into the thick clouds and return to your walk. You don’t take very long to decide to go back into the castle. It’s getting to the point where the cold is beginning to numb your warm body. You should’ve brought a warm cloak. You sigh with defeat at the cold and begin to make way to the castle.
It is then that you notice Jon Snow, Ser Davos, and some Northern men heading towards a cave further down the shore. You watch with interest and wonder where they are going. Your eyes linger on Jon who looks devilish in his normal Kingly attire. As if Jon could sense your stare he turns and looks into your direction. You start to panic because you weren’t sure what to do now that he caught you staring at him.
You look away and briskly walk towards the castle with red cheeks.
“Princess Y/N,” Jon calls you by your stupid title.
Your body freezes and you curse yourself. You certainly can’t ignore him…he isn’t very far. It would be rude…you turn around and see him making way towards you. “King Snow.” You greet trying not to sound awkward. “You don’t need to call me Princess.” You informed with a small smile.
He walks up to you and smiles the slightest, “And you don’t have to call me King Snow.” There is humor in his voice.
Your smile grows with amusement, “What brings you on shore?” You ask curiously.
He grows a bit tense, “Your sister gave me permission to mine Dragon-glass.” He says a bit tersely.
You stare unfamiliar with this Dragon-glass and why Jon was mining it. You want to ask but something told you not to. “I was just walking down the shore with Viserion.” You say to change the topic.
Jon looks surprised, “Is that one yours?”
You shake your head, “No, he isn’t mine though my sister likes to think so. He’s just more affectionate towards me then the other two. My sister calls me his dragon-rider.”
“You ride him as well?” Jon blurts out.
You stare at him with amusement, “Yes, whenever he feels like giving me a ride.”
He gets a faint hue of red on his pale cheeks, “Sorry, I was just so surprised. I didn’t think anyone besides Daenerys could get near them.” He says lightly.
You chuckle, “You are partly correct.”
“Obviously.” Jon smiles at you.
Your heart is about to burst with warmth. This Jon Snow was making you feel very high on emotions. You shiver and look over your shoulder when you see your sister with Missandei ascending down with some Dothraki.
You feel something warm drape over your shoulders and you look down at see a cloak hanging on you. You look up at Jon with surprise and red cheeks when you realize what he did. He’s blushing too. “You can’t be reckless, Y/N, you’ll get sick if you stay out here too long without proper clothing.” He says thickly avoiding eye contact.
You cover yourself more with his warm cloak and try not to look so obvious when you inhale the smell of his clothing. It smells…earthy and of soft moss. Something else is there but you can’t place it…but it smells cozy to you. “Thank you, Jon.” You murmur looking up at him with a brilliant smile.
He’s visibly stunned.
“Well, it is nice to see where you were.” Your sister spoke from behind you.
You look over your shoulder and grin at her, “Nothing like a nice stroll on the beach.”
“And without proper clothing.” Missandei adds with a frown.
Your smile faltered, “I didn’t think it would get so cold so fast.” You defended yourself.
“Lucky for you that Lord Snow was here to offer your some warmth.” Daenerys isn’t sure how she feels with this bond between her baby sister and the Lord Snow. The look on your face is one she has never seen…and Lord Snow looks quite smitten with you.
She wants to disapprove but knew that if you were to fall for Snow…she could do nothing because you deserved the love that she once had with Drogo. And if Lord Snow would return these affections then Dany would fight like any Mother of Dragons would to make sure her babies were happy.
Title: A Million More Pairing: Jupiter/Nephrite (Sailor Moon) Rating: PG13 (for mild angst and swearing) A/N: I wrote this as part of a compilation gift for @nelwynp‘s wedding! SO EXCITING! And I’m just now getting around to posting it.
~ “You have no idea how many times I’ve wondered what it would be like to kiss you.” ~
1.
The reason for their first meeting is hardly anything noteworthy; a political summit, two sides aiming for peace that will likely fail within days. She is part of the visiting delegation, a guard and an ambassador.
She stands proudly behind her queen and princess, shoulders back and head held high. She looks just as fierce as the rumors portray her to be. A powerful warrior, literally head and shoulders above the rest.
He believes she is the most striking woman he has ever laid eyes on, more so than the Moon Queen or her daughter, both beautiful and remote with their silver hair and pale skin and luminous eyes. Or any of the inner court, all stunning in their own right, but with her there is something more.
Her wide eyes seem to glitter like emeralds, and they appear just as sharp; ready to cut you down if you offend her or her charges. Her auburn hair tumbles regally down her back in a cascade of curls, the locks thick and shining and he wonders idly what it would feel like to bury his fingers in it. And her full, rosy lips that beg to be kissed.
He thinks he would like to kiss her, if he wasn’t certain she would deck him for such an offense.
Still, he ponders the idea and perhaps more as the peace talks drag on and on, all the voices of those gathered blending into a loud buzz that he pays little attention to. At one point he catches her eyes across the room, and she holds his gaze.
He knows she is bored as well, tired of words that always seem to lead nowhere. Promises that mean nothing. In the briefest moment he finds in her a kindred spirit, and that bolsters him. A smile starts to curve her lips, and he wonders if his thoughts are so easy for her to read.
If she’s offended, she doesn’t show it.
So he continues wondering what it would be like to kiss her while she smiled.
2.
He keeps wondering what it would be like to kiss her over the course of the next two, three, four meetings. And countless times between. He has never known a woman like her, and he is completely infatuated. She, however, seems to find him lacking.
She hardly spares him a glance, not after their first meeting with their gazes locked. Nephrite is certain that he has done something wrong, that something has given him away. Perhaps she knows his true desires, perhaps she has heard stories of the Shitennou and their exploits. Perhaps, and this one wounds his ego no matter how much he pretends otherwise, she simply finds him displeasing.
Still, he continues to wonder for many weeks, their paths crossing at various times. Mostly when their young charges insist on seeing one another, something that is both sweet and disconcerting.
It is on one such occasion that Nephrite finds himself shoved up against a pillar, neatly blocked by her towering frame. She’s close enough for him to feel her warmth, feel the brush of her chest against his with each inhale.
She surveys him again, much like she had the first time. She’s playful, her eyes bright and mischievous. The look suits her, he thinks. She smells floral sweet, undercut with a sharp scent almost like sandalwood. It’s intoxicating.
Her lips curve upward, and his eyes drop to follow the movement. A throaty laugh escapes her barely parted lips.
“Maybe, if you’re lucky.” she whispers, and then she’s gone in a swirl of flowing skirts and auburn curls. In the distance he can hear her deep voice calling for her princess.
Nephrite wets his lips. Maybe, if he is lucky.
3.
It is not a thought he should be having in the middle of a battle. His mind should be focused on what is happening before him, not indulging in some ill-conceived fantasy. And certainly not one that is so utterly ridiculous.
Unfortunately it continues to swirl about his mind, taunting and strange and almost as if it were a memory rather than a daydream. There are rose bushes and the moon hangs full and glowing in the clear sky. The stars glitter and dance like he has never seen before, they are loud and full of mirth.
She stands before him, resplendent in a green gown that seems to change colors in the moonlight. Who she is, he is not entirely sure and yet he knows her. And something about himself is changed. Something in him feels lighter… happy.
They stand facing each other and slowly she inches forward, just until her lips barely brush his in the sweetest of kisses. His senses are alight, in the distance he can hear crickets, and the breeze that gently rustles the leaves of the trees. He feels overly warm, but it is not unpleasant. And he can smell a sweet, floral scent unlike any other, and a sharp woody musk under it.
He feels as if he could get drunk off that scent alone.
Then he is himself again, and instead of crickets he can hear the crackling of electricity; can smell ozone instead of flowers. He jumps out of the way just in time, looking up to meet a pair of wide, glittering green eyes.
She is a stranger, this new senshi dressed in green, but she is familiar. That frightens him more than he can fathom, and in a blink he is gone. Running like frightened prey.
4.
The thought haunts him, and he supposes that is more than fair, since he is forced to linger as he is. Neither alive, nor dead. Not a ghost or a spirit. He is nothing and everything all at once.
Or perhaps that is too philosophical of way to look at it, and it just proves that he has been sitting far too close to Kunzite all these years. It might be better to adopt a more cavalier approach to it all, perhaps he should be like Jadeite.
‘We’re fucking rocks, guys.’
Either way he is not a part of this world, or the next. He is not a man or a shitennou or any type of being really. It is both a reprieve and a punishment, something he is thankful for and resentful of. Mostly he is resentful, because he exists but he also does not.
Which is why the thought haunts him the way it does: her lips against his, warm and firm and oh, so tender.
He knows what it is like to kiss her, and those are vivid memories he can draw on. So he does, tries to lose himself in a time before everything was destroyed, back when he was a decent man instead of a traitor. It usually works, for a while at least.
What truly haunts him though, is the idea of kissing her in this life, with a fresh start.
Unfortunately he knows that is not for them. Not with all he must atone for, and certainly not when he was just ‘a fucking rock.’
5.
Once, he had hoped for a new life and a fresh start. He finds actually being granted the a new life is so much different than what he had dreamt of.
Life on earth is changed, mostly for the better… or so he hopes. Everything seems to have moved on without him, without the shitennou. Life has found a way, and is always moving forward, as it should. As he had always hoped, though there is a sense of melancholy to it.
His chance to once again rejoin the world, to help shape it and watch it evolve firsthand, is unexpected and surely more than he deserves. Still, he takes it for what it is: a second chance. Or perhaps at this point it is a third. Either way he is bound and determined not to waste it.
Their return is received with a range of emotions: anger, distrust, resentment, indifference. They all promise they will do what they can to earn the trust the Queen and King have bestowed upon them, they promise the same to the senshi. It is formal, the time for personal relationships seems to have been lost.
He is surprised that she watches him from afar, affecting a flippant air. And he is much reminded of the very first time they had met. When she meets his gaze across the room, he knows she is remembering the same.
Idly, and most certainly against his better judgment, he ponders again what it would be like to kiss her. Now. In this new world, with their new lives.
When a small smile curves the corner of her mouth, he dares to hope for the future.
+1.
The day is warm, the skies clear and a gentle breeze coasting through the flowerbeds, making certain the temperature remained ideal.
The flowers themselves are in full bloom, the gardens full of peonies, just starting to droop under the weight their fat purple blooms. Rhododendrons in vibrant reds and hot pink and soft white with the barest blush tower in the background.
Tulips in every shade imaginable line walkways, a rainbow stretching through the entirety of the garden. The cooling breeze brings the scent of lilacs and magnolias, the air sweet and fresh and heady.
Indeed it is the perfect day, so truly there is no reason for him to be so nervous. Yet, there he is pacing underneath a pergola, wisteria blooms dripping down and brushing against his head.
He had shooed the others away, tired of their endless chatter and vain attempts to bolster him. He knows nothing is going to calm him at this point… well, maybe a shot of strong liquor but he long ago decided that would be a very bad idea. So instead he tries to get rid of the restless energy by walking up and down, up and down, the gravel crunching under his shoes.
“It’s time.”
The fact it’s Serenity who has come to retrieve him gives him pause. He turns around and looks at her with a brow arched quizzically. She looks lovely in her grown, the palest shade of pink with an iridescence that lends it an otherworldly quality. Something truly befitting a queen.
She smiles softly at him and moves forward to link her arm with his. “The others were frightened after you nearly bit their heads off. They thought I would be safe.” Now her smile turns into a full on grin as she tilts her head back to look up at him.
“You don’t need to be so nervous, you know,” she says after they start on their way to the pavilion in the middle of the gardens. “This is as it should be. She looks beautiful, by the way,” she adds with a stage whisper.
He can’t help a smile from quirking the corner of his mouth. “Does she really?”
“Of course.” Serenity nods firmly. She starts to lead him through the back of the pavilion, makes certain he arrives at his marked place. The others are flanking him, looking amused.
Serenity adjusts his boutonniere, pats his lapel. “I’m happy for you both, and you shouldn’t worry. Not anymore. This is how it’s supposed to be.” With a final smile, she scampers down the aisle, disappearing just out of sight.
A moment passes and then the music starts, a soft lilting tune that weaves through the air. First are Lady Mercury and Lady Mars, followed quickly by Lady Venus and Queen Serenity. The princess trails behind her mother, her small hand dipping into her basket of rose petals and flinging them high to blanket the aisle.
He pays little to mind to anything further as she appears at the end of the aisle, her dress billowing about her legs, and a bouquet of roses and baby’s breath clutched in her hands. The veil atop her head of glossy curls is a gauzy affair that trails down her back, and to the floor to trail behind her.
Her cheeks are glowing and her eyes are bright, like perfect emeralds glittering against the sun. The smile she bestows him is incandescent as she starts her walk down the aisle.
Everything after is a blur, he knows they exchange their vows, is aware of Endymion prompting him when it’s time to place the ring on his bride’s finger. However, he needs no prompting when it comes time to kiss his wife.
He has fantasized about it a million times since he had first met her, so many life times ago, back when he thought he would never be privileged enough to know. So now he takes his time, and gently lays his lips against hers, barely brushing them.
One hand snakes its way to the back of her neck, the other wrapping around her waist. Then he tilts her backward, dipping her low as he deepens the kiss. Vaguely he is aware of the bawdy catcalls from his friends, the happy cheers sounding from hers.
Mostly he is only aware of the way one of her hands clutches at his shoulder, the other tangling in his hair as a soft moan sounds in the back of her throat.
Once he rights her, and pulls back just enough to admire the blissful look on her face, he realizes exactly what a lucky man he is, and how much he is looking forward to kissing his wife a million times and more.
Pitches
Rather than creating three different pitches and only developing one I decided to choose three different themes and combine them into one pitch.
Character/Species Design
Species design
Character design
Environmental design
Character sheet/player profile
This is the base list of my to-do’s. As there’s more than three and I can easily expand one much further than the others I wasn’t too concerned about following it exactly. Especially as my time is limited so I changed my overall pitch:
World Building
I chose world building as it allows me to create something from scratch with no limitations other than my own mind. I’m not restricted by any rules other than the ones I implement. The audience could be anyone, from people looking to create their own character to go into a world or someone who has interest in the species and their own lore but can expand on it individually.  The purpose of this pitch is to persuade my tutors that my idea has potential to develop my skills further and produce a strong piece of specialist design.
Tumblr media
Species Design
Appearance
The first step was deciding what sort of theme I wanted based around this species. I have a fondness for nature (floral and animals) and space as well as the natural elements like water, fire, air and earth (again, nature). Something I haven’t explored much compared to the others is space. Space is big and still very unknown and undiscovered so I decided ‘why not’. Due to how much of the universe is unknown it allows for me to experiment and still - to a degree- stay realistic.  I decided to keep this species human-looking but with its own features. They have the same body shape as humans but a lot of details are very different.
Breathing Space is exciting as we humans know it now, but imagine if we could explore it much more and the other planets out there. I decided to incorporate this thought into this species. A way to breathe in space perhaps? Or survive in many different environments? This made me think about adding gills, providing a way for their bodies to push out oxygen-poor air. Another idea is to replace their organs with something different or replace what they might be made of.
I thought about glass lungs. This wouldn’t allow them to breathe exactly like humans do but could still be a form of filtration within them - their own form of breathing. This idea further lead me onto adding an object on the outside of their bodies made of glass which acts as a filtration system, holding their own chemical element from their own environment which helps them breathe. I used glass orbs inside the ears. I thought ears of creatures other than humans would help in this instant, creating a form of protection and holder for these orbs. This would mean a broken glass orb results in death due to no longer being able to filter the air, giving them no way to breathe.  Glass in our world seems like a very fragile material so it is likely the glass these species use is something special, born with them and provided from their own planet.
Tumblr media
Features/Traits At that point the species looked pretty bland. Human with different organs and ears - not very exciting. So, I looked at my interests some more.
Wings are always a go-to for me. I like the way they look, what they unlock and the type of image it can give a person, animal or species. Often wings are associated with birds but there’s also the religious aspect with angels and demons (positive and negative/good and bad). I started thinking that maybe this isn’t a good species and are usually the bad guys. War ‘angels’ perhaps?
By allowing different wings placements means some could be born with what may be considered useless, unable to be used for flight but still capable of communication. Maybe wings are a rarity? Or the higher up the hierarchy you are the more wings one may have?  I decided to make wings a mutation although fairly common. Around 60% of the population having wings but only 30% big enough and in the correct place to use for flight.
Tumblr media
They still looked like they were missing something, just slightly too bland and human-like to really claim themselves as their own species. I looked into them a bit more and liked the glass idea, being a special material they are born with and is unique to them but without it they can’t survive.  Horns made of the same glass as the orbs but rather than used for breathing they are more a form of identification. Impossible to be born without horns but cracked or broken and they are cast out of society, classed as ‘tainted’.  The glass is incredibly strong and very unlikely to crack making it such a big deal when it does happen.
As an addition I added tails! A fun addition which is there mostly for communication and help during flight. These are a very quiet species, preferring to communicate via wings, ears and tail language.
World Building
Lifestyle -  What are they and how do they work?
Okay, so they have an appearance but what exactly are they? After some thought I realised a good comparison would be similar to bees and how they work within the hive.
Queen
She is the centre of the ‘hive’ (planet, city, empire).
Gives commands and orders
Makes all the decisions
Controls everyone else
Major punishment (isolation) for breaking rules and opposing the Queen and other Royalty.
Workers
Has a place in life
Produces something valuable (food, clothing, homing, etc.)
Produces offspring
‘Commanders’ and other leading officers in the military
Drones
Work for the military
Everything is under strict rule
Usually young
Easily sacrificed
However, instead of working like bees and helping the planet they take and consume all the natural resources until the planet is completely destroyed, a little similar to humans only at a much quicker pace that they can move from one planet to another within one generation.
Tumblr media
Each of these species has their own element. They have to discover it later in life as it’s developed by training and practice but each is born with a minimum of one. The planet’s resources fuel their powers/elements.
Examples:
Water from the seas and ground
Earth from the ground and structure
Plants from their nature
Time messes up the planets sense of time
Nightmares drain from the species inhabiting the planet
Their powers are destructive meaning they cannot stay on one planet for long.  Eventually planets turn into wastelands and the species drain the core until it is entirely destroyed before moving on. Their home planet is long gone and as much as they miss it they refuse to stop. Due to the requirements of their elements they’re very fond of planets with strong magic, usually indicated by floating planets and other magical creatures.  Overall, they’re looking for a home. Unfortunately, they’re a destructive species so whilst their intentions are good their methods are messed up.  So far they have not found a planet that can hold them. They understand the risks of using their elements but still refuse to stop using them, even limited.
Are they the good guys? Bad guys? Really it depends on the situation and point of perspective.
Their perspective:
Good guys
Want a home
Nothing can handle them
Don’t want to die
Others perspective:
Bad guys
Slaughter anyone/thing to benefit themselves
Killed for their own living
Selfish
Tumblr media
Name I had some issues coming up with a name and left it until I had finished my final pitch. Due to their involvement with glass and how important it is to them I tried to base something around that with the second word including something else about them. I tried ‘orb’ in a few different languages but it didn’t fit right. Further in the designing process I add ‘veils’ which are part of the military uniform. I again looked at other languages until, eventually, I came across ‘schleier’. Meaning: veil in German.
This finalised my decision and the species name became Glasschleier.
Clothing
Due to the many worlds they discover (and usually eventually destroy) Glasschleiers clothing is very diverse.  The hierarchy does have an effect on their clothing. Those higher on the hierarchy tend to wear light colours with a very expensive looking style. They tend to always look ‘formal’.  Casual clothing can be as simple as jeans and a shirt from Earth or something much more complex and usual, it really depends on the individual and what style they prefer.
There are limitless possibilities for clothing!
Tumblr media
The military has a uniform which is different for each role (soldier, commander, etc.). Colours are different and indicate what element the individual uses as they are separated by their elements.
It was at this point veils came to mind. Glasschleier are overall a very advanced species but this can depend on how long they are settled on one planet. This means they have some technology unknown to others. In this instance the veil is a protective shield which when activated hardens to protect their faces and has an interactive interface that is used for communication during battles.  However, as they are a very regal and elegant species some decide to wear these veils at all times and is not only limited to the military.
Tumblr media
Some quick chibi drawings to plan and decide on the outfit with some different, small varieties (short sleeves, different boots, etc.).  No armour is included in the military uniform as it’s very rare the Glasschleier get near enough to their enemy as all elements are long range. This makes them very vulnerable if an enemy gets near enough.
Where the red is on the long ‘scarf’ that goes around their shoulders and down their back would be different colours depending on the element the individual uses.
Tumblr media
Military and Weapons
For most of a Glasschleier’s life it may consist of war and battle. From invading planets for their own gain or simply travelling in small teams to find and collect a resource from another planet. More often than not it ends in bloodshed as they do not hold back if another species shows a sign of aggression.  Due to this the majority of the population is part of the military and you’re only allowed to leave once you have served a minimum of 30 years unless they are born into a family that runs a business and can contribute via that.
The element/s an individual may have determines their role within the military.
1 element - soldier
2 elements - unit leader
3 elements - strategist
The more elements one has the higher up the hierarchy they go. This is because Glasschleier with more than one element have to be experienced to even be able to manipulate more than one element. It also means they are much more powerful.
However, even within the soldiers there is a form of hierarchy depending what element the individual wields.
Common - fire, water, wind
Uncommon - lightning, ice, plants
Rare - metal, light
Ultra Rare - time, nightmares
It’s very rare to find a Glasschleier that is able to manipulate time and nightmares. These are very valued members of the military due to the fact they can change the fate of an entire battle in one instant.  Whilst they don’t have any control they are often involved in meetings.
Tumblr media
Transport
Although they can survive on strange planets due to their ‘filtration’ systems in the glass orbs this doesn’t mean they can survive in space.
Main Ship: There is one main ship. It’s bigger than any city you might find on Earth which makes it their central hub. It plants itself into the ground once a planet has been found and merges with the terrain. The ship will instantly start to suck up the resources to fuel itself. This ship is mostly used to transport civilians that live in the central hub (shop keepers, etc.) and royalty.
Battle Ship: Much smaller than the main ship and used for transporting military to planets and other animals/supplies not located in the main ship when relocating.
Transport Ship (Pod): Small, pod-like ships. Expensive but affordable to anyone. Similar to the main ship they fuse with the ground and become a home available for up to a family of six, sometimes more depending on the size of transport ship.
Tumblr media
In an attempt to create these different ships I looked at other space ships from films and tv shows. I looked into Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Orville and FTL: Faster Than Light. I was having trouble coming up with an idea despite my research but as this is not so important to my assignment I decided to not progress.
Navy Is the New Black: How to Incorporate 2017’s Navy Trend Into Your Home
We hope you like the products we recommend. Just so you are aware, Freshome may collect a share of sales from the links on this page.
Navy is our new neutral. Image: Diane James Home
Usually, when we talk about neutrals, blacks, whites and grays steal the spotlight — and for good reason! They go with everything, they’ve been around forever, and, frankly, they will always be in style. That said, there’s no need for monochromatic colors to be the only game in town.
Thanks to 2017’s design trends, another color is ready to mix up your neutral color palate. Navy is here and there’s no stopping it. As the year progresses, we’re seeing this color get steadily more popular and we predict it won’t be long before you’re seeing it everywhere.
For those ready to dive in, we’ll show you how to best incorporate this powerful shade of blue into your next design project. Those of you who need a bit more convincing, stick with us. Read on and we’ll show you exactly why this faux-neutral needs to be on your radar.
Add a punch of visual interest by putting navy on your walls. Image: Garrison Hullinger Interior Design Inc.
Make a big impact with paint
When you’re ready for a completely new look, adding a fresh coat of paint to the walls is by far the best option. Not only will a bold shade like navy blue bring a huge dose of visual interest into the space, but it will do so without costing much. (One of our favorite interior design secrets? Paint costs pennies on the dollar compared to other design elements and is usually the best bang for your buck.) All you need to do is know how to use it the right way.
Where navy is concerned, you have two options. The first is to focus on how the color is perceived. Typically, people believe navy connotes elegance and sophistication, which makes it a natural fit for the more serious spaces in your home. Consider using wall-to-wall color in places such as a formal dining room or home office.
The second option is to take color psychology into account. In this case, blue tones evoke feelings of calmness and serenity, meaning navy may be a good choice for bedrooms. Using it on a focal wall behind the bed will certainly draw attention.
Focus on furniture
Believe it or not, navy blue furniture exists. Not only that, but since unconventional furniture fabrics like velvet are becoming steadily more common, we can only anticipate that we’ll see more and more of it as the trend grows.
To use navy blue furniture successfully, you need to make a choice. Either it should be used as your dominant color, as shown above, or as a statement piece. Be sure to take the size of the room into consideration as you make the final decision.
Navy is a strong color, so too much of it can overwhelm tight spaces and lead to them feeling even smaller. In cozy rooms, a single piece of navy furniture such as an arm chair or sofa can easily serve as the room’s focal point. However, if you have the room to spread out, there’s no reason not to buy as many pieces as your heart desires.
  Consider navy kitchen cabinets to get in on one of 2017’s hottest trends. Image: Heidi Caillier Design
Kitchen cabinets are peak 2017 navy trend
No one is saying that white cabinets with gray granite countertops are gone for good. However, in 2017, we’re starting to see a few alternatives pop up. By positioning itself as a faux-neutral, navy kitchen cabinets are becoming increasingly common.
Pulling off this trend is all about creating contrast. As you can see in the picture above, the lower cabinets are used as an accent against plenty of stark white. Again, this is a situation where connotations come into play. A navy-blue-and-white combo brings to mind images of a clean and crisp naval uniform, which are undoubtedly positive attributes to describe any cooking space.
However, keep in mind that color isn’t the only way to create contrast. Navy blue cabinets can also benefit from being surrounded by a range of materials. Think about offsetting them with smooth marble countertops, sleek stainless steel appliances and a few natural-looking décor elements.
Try out navy through textiles. Image: INTRO INRED
Try it out in textiles
If you’re not quite sure where you fall in regard to the navy trend, trying it out via textiles is a great way to see how you feel. Since items such as pillows, blankets and rugs are relatively affordable purchases, textiles are often seen as the design equivalent of dipping your toe in the shallow end of the pool. That said, with navy, there are a few special considerations.
Since navy is such a bold shade of blue, using only solid-color textiles may come off feeling a bit harsh. To temper the look, search for navy items in a variety of patterns, prints and textures. This will allow you to incorporate pops of the hue among other, more familiar shades.
As for which other colors will mix-and-match best, there are plenty of options. Navy works well with just about everything. To bring brightness to the room, consider either a sunny yellow shade or a bright orange. However, if you’d rather focus on the room’s richness, opt for something like a regal purple or ruby red.
    Contrast navy and white to bring a calm and clean look to any space. Image: Peterssen/Keller Architecture
Neutral colors aren’t just limited to black, white and gray anymore. A new navy trend has recently popped up and has been steadily gaining popularity. Whether you’re all-in on this faux-neutral or you aren’t quite sure how to feel, keep this post close at hand. Use our suggestions to help you create a design that feels on-trend while looking timeless.
To use navy blue furniture successfully, you need to make a choice. Either it should be used as your dominant color, as shown above, or as a statement piece. Be sure to take the size of the room into consideration as you make the final decision.
Navy is a strong color, so too much of it can overwhelm tight spaces and lead to them feeling even smaller. In cozy rooms, a single piece of navy furniture such as an arm chair or sofa can easily serve as the room’s focal point. However, if you have the room to spread out, there’s no reason not to buy as many pieces as your heart desires.
Kitchen cabinets are peak 2017 navy trend
No one is saying that white cabinets with gray granite countertops are gone for good. However, in 2017, we’re starting to see a few alternatives pop up. By positioning itself as a faux-neutral, navy kitchen cabinets are becoming increasingly common.
Pulling off this trend is all about creating contrast. As you can see in the picture above, the lower cabinets are used as an accent against plenty of stark white. Again, this is a situation where connotations come into play. A navy-blue-and-white combo brings to mind images of a clean and crisp naval uniform, which are undoubtedly positive attributes to describe any cooking space.
However, keep in mind that color isn’t the only way to create contrast. Navy blue cabinets can also benefit from being surrounded by a range of materials. Think about offsetting them with smooth marble countertops, sleek stainless steel appliances and a few natural-looking décor elements.
Try it out in textiles
If you’re not quite sure where you fall in regard to the navy trend, trying it out via textiles is a great way to see how you feel. Since items such as pillows, blankets and rugs are relatively affordable purchases, textiles are often seen as the design equivalent of dipping your toe in the shallow end of the pool. That said, with navy, there are a few special considerations.
Since navy is such a bold shade of blue, using only solid-color textiles may come off feeling a bit harsh. To temper the look, search for navy items in a variety of patterns, prints and textures. This will allow you to incorporate pops of the hue among other, more familiar shades.
As for which other colors will mix-and-match best, there are plenty of options. Navy works well with just about everything. To bring brightness to the room, consider either a sunny yellow shade or a bright orange. However, if you’d rather focus on the room’s richness, opt for something like a regal purple or ruby red.
Neutral colors aren’t just limited to black, white and gray anymore. A new navy trend has recently popped up and has been steadily gaining popularity. Whether you’re all-in on this faux-neutral or you aren’t quite sure how to feel, keep this post close at hand. Use our suggestions to help you create a design that feels on-trend while looking timeless.
Usually, when we talk about neutrals, blacks, whites and grays steal the spotlight — and for good reason! They go with everything, they’ve been around forever, and, frankly, they will always be in style. That said, there’s no need for monochromatic colors to be the only game in town.
Thanks to 2017’s design trends, another color is ready to mix up your neutral color palate. Navy is here and there’s no stopping it. As the year progresses, we’re seeing this color get steadily more popular and we predict it won’t be long before you’re seeing it everywhere.
For those ready to dive in, we’ll show you how to best incorporate this powerful shade of blue into your next design project. Those of you who need a bit more convincing, stick with us. Read on and we’ll show you exactly why this faux-neutral needs to be on your radar.
Make a big impact with paint
When you’re ready for a completely new look, adding a fresh coat of paint to the walls is by far the best option. Not only will a bold shade like navy blue bring a huge dose of visual interest into the space, but it will do so without costing much. (One of our favorite interior design secrets? Paint costs pennies on the dollar compared to other design elements and is usually the best bang for your buck.) All you need to do is know how to use it the right way.
Where navy is concerned, you have two options. The first is to focus on how the color is perceived. Typically, people believe navy connotes elegance and sophistication, which makes it a natural fit for the more serious spaces in your home. Consider using wall-to-wall color in places such as a formal dining room or home office.
The second option is to take color psychology into account. In this case, blue tones evoke feelings of calmness and serenity, meaning navy may be a good choice for bedrooms. Using it on a focal wall behind the bed will certainly draw attention.
