While Mario suffers from insomnia, Luigi isn't doing much better with nightmares :(

Luigi has always been fearful since he was little; any scary thing choosing to invade his dreams...

After this adventure, Luigi is plagued with nightmares; hanging above a pit of lava, threatening to fall in. Bowser with his terrifying claws and fire breath ready to end his life. His own brother almost having his life ended...Luigi whimpers in his sleep, sometimes crying out, but never fully waking, as he's often too trapped in the dream.

Mario holds his hand, sometimes throwing his whole arm around Luigi and pulling him close...Luigi will snuggle in closer, before relaxing and sinking back into peaceful slumber.

Mario's way of confronting his own nightmares is to just not sleep. But how he wishes he could take his brother's away for good...

I need a little Gintama angst. Gintoki who is in love with the reader, but reader is in love with Takasugi. Gintoki sees the way you look at takasugi like he’s everything and knows you only see him as your friend.

“Hey, you arrived early.”

“It’s you that are always late Gin-san.” You chuckle, a sound that still warms Gintoki’s heart after all this time.

It has become a habit between you two, to meet once every two weeks and talk, about your life, complain, and at times, about the past.

It’s a topic you both try to avoid to say the truth, your hearts wounded for different reasons.

“So how is the business going?” You say while pulling out some onigiris from your bag.

“Can we change topic?” Is Gintoki's curt reply, voice so serious and so unusual from him that you had to choke laughter.

You chit-chat while eating, your cups toasting every time Gintoki pours the liquor in.

You both get quiet after a while, Gintoki’s red eyes lay on your profile, you are not looking at him, but at the sky.

Gintoki knows what are you thinking about. Or better who.

That damn idiot, probably somewhere in the skies planning for the next attack of the Kiheitai. How he could leave you for his crazy dream is beyond Gintoki, but maybe it is better like this, here you are safe, heartbroken but safe.

He understood your feelings long ago, maybe even before you could understand them. There was war, blood, and misery, but your eyes shined with so much love that it brightened his entire day. But your eyes never shone for him, but for a stubborn shorty fighting with him.

At times like this Gintoki wonders if you ever noticed how Takasugi's eyes shone as bright as yours when looking at you, if maybe he should have pushed you together, but now it’s late, and past can’t be changed.

His arm goes around your shoulders, pushing your head against his chest, there is no malice, as it feels more like a brother comforting his heartbroken sister.

“Will this pain ever fade?”

“It takes a lot of time.”

You nod and sigh, snuggling against him while Gintoki desperately hopes you won’t hear the crazy rhythm of his heart.

For now things are fine this way.

Happy Friday the 13th! If your OCs were in a piece of horror media (video game/book/movie), what roles would they play? Who would die first? Who would make it to the end? What kind of horror media would they be in? (slasher film, psychological horror, zombie apocalypse, etc.)

Since my characters are already in a vampire/zombie apocalypse story, I'll switch it up and put them in a slasher/monster lurks and kills everyone off one by one type of thing.

Hudson would be the dorky supernatural enthusiast guy. He'd be dropping lore, bringing all kinds of equipment to capture the monster on tape etc etc. He's knowledgeable, but his smarts wouldn't save him from getting absolutely destroyed by the creature. He'd sacrifice himself to save the others and also to get one last good look at the thing.....cloverfield camera man style.

Faustine (Poppy's mom) is the clueless parent that would be totally oblivious to the horrors and be skeptical if anyone was yelling about a monster. She's the type to move into a cursed town and not see anything wrong with it. She'd definitely get killed off while doing laundry n stuff.

Poppy is the final girl for sure. She'd be one of the first to notice strange things happening and go all survivor mode ESPECIALLY if her mom is dead and her friends are dropping like flies. she'd grab anything as a weapon and going fuckin wild, there's no way she's gonna run away from a monster fight. By the end, she'd be walking into a diner covered head to toe in blood and then make some quip like "it's been a long night" ROLL CREDITS

What video games would you recommend to a House of Leaves enjoyer?

if you like the horrors of a haunted house, anatomy by kitty horrorshow is a must. it's short, it's cheap, and it's an incredible work of horror that needs to be experienced by any haunted house fan. in a (somewhat) similar house-y vein (with fewer outright horror themes), control is really good. it's the most action-y of all these, with most of its gameplay being "shoot corrupted people" but it's definitely got some themes you'd probably enjoy. (also a really good assist mode.)

i also feel somewhat compelled to recommend inscryption if you liked the unconventional form of house of leaves. it's. a card game. sort of. and also, for reasons i don't think i could explain, kentucky route zero. the gameplay in kr0 amounts to a lot of reading, but you're a hol fan. you won't mind the reading. and the writing is incredible. obligatory mention of disco elysium, which a lot of hol fans, myself included, really love. de also has a lot of reading. but most of it is voiced! the gameplay is. mostly reading. but the writing is also excellent and neither of the text-heavy games are boring in my opinion.

and, and i can't tell if i'm joking or not, i wanna throw out the lust series (which i haven't played all of) if you're intrigued by the concept of sex in horror which. i don't think is done well in house of leaves, sorry, johnny. (and it's arguable whether it's done well here, but i'm trying to give you a wide variety) (lust for darkness, lust from beyond: prologue, lust from beyond: scarlet, lust from beyond) the gameplay isn't anything special, and it's definitely not anything that would remind you of hol, but hey, it's the obscure erotic survival horror series i've been talking about in my posts so it's something to put out there. the gameplay in these ones is probably the worst, since it doesn't really do anything special and it doesn't do what it does particularly well, like the other games i've mentioned. i don't think i'd particularly recommend it but hey i'm just throwing this one in, i'm having some fun with lust from beyond in any case. the gameplay amounts to stealth, combat, and running. it's survival horror. and for all its flaws, the atmosphere is really really good.

with the (possible) exception of the lust series, these are all really good games on many levels and they're also, with the (definite) exception of the lust series, well known to minimal varying degrees. i really and truly wish i could give you an even wider variety, and maybe there are a few games on my to play list that would fit really well, but eh idk. i hope you enjoy them!! (also, i was gonna attempt to summarize each game but. you're looking for house of leaves-y games, you're not gonna find coherent summaries. i have however explained the core gamplay. sort of.)

guys the kiss was so important especially from a narrative and storytelling perspective because it was literally Crowley taking everything that's happened between them, every unsaid intention and every unspoken promise, and making it physical.

He's taking their arrangement and every other bullshit excuse they've ever used to hide how they feel about each other and throwing them out the window to put their feelings into an undeniable physical action that holds a lot of meaning to humans in order to be absolutely sure that Aziraphale knows exactly what he means when he says "we could have been Us." He wants to be absolutely sure that there are no misunderstandings between them and know that Azirphale will be committing to this decision with absolute reassurance that he's been understood and rejected anyway.

he's taking a human action with so much meaning and so much importance, and he's using it as a way to desperately make Aziraphale completely and undeniably aware of what he's stating. No more charades and no more lies or cover-ups. There's no denying this thing between them now, and Crowley did it the human way. Because he and Aziraphale love humanity and it's everything to them in their own ways.

There's a reason we saw a kiss between Crowley and Aziraphale, and not Gabriel and Beelzebub, despite them both being undeniable foils.

and she wants to move away from his hometown and he wants to stay and then he tells you with a wink and a conspiratorial stage whisper don't worry i'll convince her and she laughs about it - so clearly this is something they laugh about. but you do just stand there and stare at him like what the fuck, man. you can't say what you want to say which is why do you get the final say on everything because they're both obviously aware of the other person's stance on this and have obviously had private conversations about it and what are you going to do about it except make a scene and then he'll be mad at you and call you one of those bitches behind your back and she'll cut you off, which is a loss that doesn't feel worth it just because he makes you a little skeeved out every 3rd comment

and they both agree he just isn't the type to get flowers which is fine because everyone shows love differently, and are you really gonna judge someone based on their sense of individual relationship responsibility? maybe he's constantly cleaning her car and writing her poems and making her furniture or something. maybe she doesn't even like flowers and this is perfect, actually. and no you couldn't date him, obviously, ew; but like, she tells you she's happy. you almost send her a tiktok that says don't be 25 and the cool girl that doesn't need anything, you'll hate not getting flowers at 30, but that's like, starting drama & you shouldn't start drama needlessly.

and you're a little older than her but not so much older you can pull the whole trust me on this one babe thing and besides that wouldn't have worked anyway (when does it ever) and besides you have trauma so you and your therapist both agree that you're always looking for a problem even when there isn't one. and you tell yourself that just because you see them for 15 minutes every month does not mean you can identify every single red flag based on a single shitty half-joking(?) comment

to your therapist you try to language it - it's not, like, any of my business. but sometimes, doesn't it feel like - you should do something. there's got to be something, right? you've tried dropping little hints but they sail right through and you've tried having a single serious conversation and she got upset because why does it matter to you, yes it's different but we're happy, it doesn't need to make sense to you and you're like. really unwilling to push a boundary about it anymore; because the truth is that you know logically it shouldn't matter to you, as long as both parties are happy.

and besides, you've been wrong before. it's just... like, every time you see them both, something else happens, some kind of shiver down your spine like do you even hear each other when you talk. it's their strange, bickering orbit. just the way he's on his phone through dinner or watching sports instead of helping in the kitchen or, fuck, another one of these little throwaway comments he makes about we'll see about that, babe. she laughs when he calls her passions stupid shit and meanwhile she gets him tickets to see the knicks and he tells you well at least she's smart about something and still! it's none of your business.
