CORONAVIRUS REVEALS HOW BAD HAWAI`IʻS TOURIST PROBLEM REALLY IS
Tumblr media
 Fodors.com - April 29, 2020 - By Laurie Lyons-Makaimoku
The past two months have shown the world just how utterly messed up it is—from inept leaders and politicians to smog-free days in Los Angeles, this virus has pulled back the curtain on the so-called wizards that make the choices that affect the lives of our planet and its people. It has revealed the greed and imbalance that has plagued us all for too long. Sadly, we probably won’t learn too much from this. China’s wet markets and the assault on wildlife will continue, white-collar workers will go back to spending hours each day commuting to do a job that can easily be done remotely, and our politicians will continue to fan the flames of bipartisanship, treating constituents like they’re one big experiment and using their lives as another way to benefit financially. For those of us in Hawaii, the global pandemic has exposed something else for our small, island state—it is utterly at the mercy of tourism and tourists, and that can no longer be the case.
Hawaii currently has the highest unemployment rate in the United States at 37%, with many still waiting to file claims because of overloaded websites and staffing shortages. That rate is usually lower than 3%, while the nation’s average unemployment is around 4.4%. Tourism accounts for approximately 20% of the state’s economy, though that number can be somewhat hard to rely on because tourism touches so many areas of the economy. It has been the largest industry in Hawaii since statehood in 1959.
In recent years, other major events, natural disasters, left huge impacts on Hawaii: the unprecedented floods in Kauai and the eruption of the Kilauea Volcano, both in 2018, had serious economic impacts on the affected communities. The past three years have made it clear that this sort of dependence on an industry that is so dramatically affected by a variety of external factors is dangerous for this state to rely upon.
Aside from the economic impact of so many of Hawaii’s people losing work because tourism gets shut down, Hawaii’s dependence on tourism has had a much more significant impact—it has emboldened the entitled to use it as their playground and quarantine getaway, with very little regard for its people.
The examples are numerous, and as much as I’d love to call out the woman who bragged on her TikTok about how empty and cheap her flight was from Boston to Honolulu, or the mommy blogger who brought her whole family to Maui during the pandemic and actively brushed off criticisms, I won’t—the internet has handled them for us.
However, I am more than happy to call out the marketing company that was dumb enough to bring their firm to Hawaii from Baltimore and actively brag about their callousness on their social media channels. Uprooted Platinum flaunted their work vacation and laughed about their private beach (though they didn’t actually have a private beach) while continuously violating quarantine restrictions. Since their brazen displays, they have taken down all of their social media pages and their website. So maybe they weren’t that great at marketing, after all.
And yet, they keep coming. One couple was arrested in Waikiki this week after flaunting their refusal to adhere to the current visitor self-quarantine all over social media, then hopping from hotel to hotel to avoid suspicion. That couple, who were from Las Vegas and Australia, were then sent home. Another couple from California was arrested in Waikiki after allegedly violating the rules for an entire week. Three others were arrested at a hotel pool in Hilo, visitors from Washington who violated quarantine. Those who are coming to Hawaii because they are homeless and want to ride things out in the tropics are being sent back to their place of origin (using funds from the Hawaii Tourism Authority).
Since Hawaii’s governor enacted mandatory 14-day quarantine restrictions on March 26, Hawaii has continued to see an average of 130 visitors per day. Compare that to this time last year when that number was 30,000 people per day and it seems like nothing, but it is still something. That means that 130 people each day have dismissed the health and well-being of Hawaii’s citizens for their own benefit and pleasure. And that is about as far away from aloha as one can get.
Maybe I should take a step back for a second because there has been a lot of information to unpack since this pandemic has started. Maybe you don’t understand why Hawaii residents don’t want visitors right now, why “Hawaii is Closed” adorns social media profiles as far as the internet can see. It’s simple, really: it’s about a lack of resources. Hawaii has 340 intensive care unit beds and 561 ventilators, the majority of which are on Oahu. On top of that, the supply lines in Hawaii are limited—we depend on air transport and a few ships each week to bring in goods; we don’t have those interstate-traveling big rigs that the rest of the U.S. can rely on. Our toilet paper and hand sanitizer shortages started at least a full week before people started hoarding in the continental U.S. We don’t have enough supplies for our own homes, much less vacation rentals full of tourists.
In addition to the lack of resources, reports of tourists waiting out the pandemic at the few resorts that remain open include awful experiences interacting with guests. One resort employee told local ABC affiliate KITV that “a guest from San Francisco used racial slurs and said hotel staff should be grateful that tourists give them jobs.” She said that guests are extending their stays, but are ignoring restrictions on where they can go. She also didn’t shy away from calling some guests “rude and abusive.”
So, you can see why Hawai‘i would prefer to be closed right now.
And try as they might, our state and local governments have not come up with a solution to keep visitors away. As a state, Hawaii has no authority to shut down federal air travel for visitors (though Oahu Mayor Kirk Caldwell and the mayors of Maui and Kauai, as well as the Hawaii Island county council, have asked the Trump administration, to no avail). They have, however, managed to shut down interisland travel, requiring all but a few types of people to enter 14-day quarantine while traveling to and amongst the islands (including residents). Visitors are required to quarantine in their hotels, while residents must stay in their homes. Before those measures were enacted, Hawaii residents took it upon themselves to send a message to tourists who tried to come during the pandemic by protesting at airports and along Honolulu’s highways.
Gradually, stronger efforts have been made. The Hawaii National Guard has been activated to help monitor checkpoints and screen visitors at the airport. The police are screening people as they try to enter certain areas, like the famed Hana Highway in Maui, ensuring that potentially sick visitors cannot access the remote parts of the island that have limited access to health care. State government is looking at limiting hotel reservations. Law enforcement is cracking down on violators. In early April, the Hawaii Convention and Visitors Bureau put out a request to 170 top publications and trade magazines, asking them to stop promoting Hawaii right now. And yet, they keep coming.
Vacation rentals have been designated as non-essential businesses in hopes of keeping visitors out, but it’s proving to be a lot easier said than done (which seems to always be the case when it comes to regulating vacation rentals). When visitors enter Hawaii, they fill out an agriculture form to help prevent unregulated plants and animals from entering. Now, these forms are being used to help track visitors and enforce the 14-day quarantine, but there are some serious flaws with that system—illegal vacation rentals have a regular address like any other home, so it’s difficult to identify them. New steps are being taken to research each individual and address, but plenty of people have fallen through the cracks already, setting up shop in Hawaiian homes (almost 70% of which are owned by people who live off-island), and skirting that 14-day quarantine.
You would think that the hotels would be easier to monitor, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, either. Hotel employees have told local media that many hotels are doing almost nothing to enforce the quarantine, basically limiting their participation in regulation to handing guests a piece of paper with state and local rules and leaving them to it. The lack of monitoring means that the 14-day quarantine is almost useless once a person arrives, though it has clearly served as a deterrent for most people who consider traveling to Hawaii. That said, one of the high-profile quarantine violation arrests this week was due to a hotel manager calling the authorities on the California couple that flaunted quarantine for over a week. Not everyone is out to make a buck at the risk of Hawaiian lives.
At the time of publication, Hawaii’s coronavirus cases were just over 604, with 14 total deaths. On Oahu, where the majority of the cases are, Mayor Caldwell just extended the stay-at-home order to May 30, with a few relaxations of requirements. Non-essential businesses are closed. Beaches are closed for lounging (though people can swim and exercise in the ocean). Some parks are soon to reopen for exercise, but most people don’t come here to exercise in our parks. Hotels are not allowed to operate restaurants, gyms, or pools. And yet, they keep coming.
Polite requests to not come to Hawaii, or at the very least to go through the mandatory 14-day quarantine, are not being heeded. Tourism is rearing its ugly head during this pandemic. This continued deep lack of respect for a place that isn’t just a vacation stomping ground, but a place of immense cultural, historical, and spiritual significance for the people who come from there and live there makes it quite clear that Hawaii needs to significantly pull back on its reliance on tourism. And of course, these issues are far from new.
But what does that mean for Hawaii? In addition to tourism, the top industries for the state include defense, agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, and power. Strengthening the defense industry in Hawaii is not something that many Hawaii residents will advocate for, and sadly power, especially green power, has proven to be highly problematic when it comes to the concerns of Hawaii’s people. Of the remaining industries, agriculture seems to be the top choice among politicians and citizens in giving Hawaii a fighting chance in shaking off the yoke of tourism.
Hawaii imports approximately 90% of its food, a number that continues to astonish those who live here and see the bounty that these islands can produce. There are more than 200 varieties of avocado that grow in Hawaii—and we’re not talking about those little Haas ones that people love. We’re talking indulgent, buttery fruits that can grow so big that they set Guinness World Records, like this 5.6 pounder did last year. Hawaii Island alone is home to 10 of the 14 microclimates of the world, many of which are wonderful for growing a variety of foods.
This shift is currently at the top of the to-do list for many lawmakers. One citizen, new to politics, is running for Mayor of Hawaii County (on Hawaii Island) and is advocating for greater agricultural initiatives. Ikaika Marzo also happens to be a tour guide operator.
“An event like this pandemic truly shows us how much our econmy [sic] relies on tourism, and as a local tour owner and operator myself, I’m here to say that is not right, not an ideal way for a county to be structured–we are so much MORE than our in-n-out tourists who spend money here. We have many other options that could still be booming right now, right through this pandemic, and could factor into helping the rest of the mainland US which had to temporarily cut off imports from foreign countries,” Marzo wrote on a recent Facebook post, a video of him walking around a deserted downtown Hilo and stopping at the local farmer’s market (ironically, a popular tourist attraction) while discussing agriculture.
In addition to focusing on other industries, Hawaii needs to put more effort into educating visitors to ensure that its people and places are receiving the respect that they deserve. The Hawaii Tourism Authority is working on long-term, strategic plans to focus on sustainability in travel as their primary concern, including greater investments in culture and natural resources, and considering local communities and their priorities more. Some in the tourism industry are even discussing implementing more models like the one at Hanauma Bay in Oahu that requires visitors to go through a short educational orientation and watch a video before entering the nature preserve. Hopefully, these ideas will continue to be developed and implemented to help address some of these issues.
While state politicians and decision-makers can’t change an entire economy overnight, visitors who take advantage of Hawaii’s top industry can change their behaviors and their attitudes so that it’s a little bit easier of a pill to swallow for the people whose culture and history has been stripped down and repackaged for maximum consumption by folks on holiday. Visitors should never expect that they have access to go where they want to go or that they can treat people like crap, no matter where or when they travel. Visitors should treat their destination with respect and reverence for the people and places that are their hosts. Just because you can get away with something, doesn’t mean you should still do it. Just because it’s legal or allowed, doesn’t mean it’s ethical.
So, if you hope to receive some of our aloha (which doesn’t come as part of the price of admission, no matter what those beckoning ads may say), it is imperative that you come here ready to share some aloha of your own.
Hawaii has a long way to go before it can even partially extract itself from suckling so strongly at the teat of tourism, but it has never been given a better time to start than now. One thing has been made clear: though many people are suffering at the loss of their jobs, those dolphins and whales that visitors come to visit certainly don’t miss them. Marine life is flourishing as residents and visitors can no longer snorkel, scuba dive, or play amongst the reefs, and that needs to be taken very seriously by all of us, visitors and residents alike.
So come back to Hawaii, eventually. You’ll need a vacation when this is over, and many of us want to welcome you. Just don’t be too surprised if our aloha continues to wear thin if some changes aren’t made, starting with you.

Impact Wrestling 9/20/19 Review
This is my first impact review in a while, so I’m glad I caught LAX’s going away show. They are a great team and will always be extremely important to this company. I’m happy to see their work be acknowledged as they move on to AEW. Other than that, the show was kinda boring, but there were some fun segments here and there. I love Impact’s way of putting the packages together, they are quite fun. Here is my review of this week’s Impact.
LAX Video Package:  It was a pretty simple tribute package that recapped what they have done in the tag division. It was touching and nice. They showed some highlights of their career throughout the night.
OvE vs. Tessa Blanchard, Rob Van Dam, Rhino and Tommy Dreamer in Street Fight: Everyone immediately started to brawl when they got in the ring, with Van Dam and Sami Callihan brawling in the ring. Van Dam hit some of his signature offense and the two rolled to the outside. Blanchard and Dave Crist fought then, with Blanchard hitting a lungblower in the corner and then a suicide dive. Jake Crist started to fight Dreamer, but Dreamer caught him and hit a powerslam. Madman Fulton then kicked Dreamer out of the ring and started to go strike for strike with Rhino. Jake Crist then helped to take Rhino down, before Fulton launched him out of the ring in a tope con hilo. Dreamer then climbed to the top rope and gave the whole crowd of competitors a nervous splash. RVD followed suit, which just left Blanchard and Callihan in the ring together. Blanchard then took him down quickly, nailing a cutter to put him on the outside, and then climbing to the tope rope. Callihan met her up there and superplexed her onto a pile of competitors on the outside. Calliahn then rolled Rhino back in, and the two traded suplexes and spinebusters, with Rhino coming out on top. Jake took him out with a series of kicks, Dreamer took out jake with a bionic elbow, Dave took out Dreamer with a clothesline, RVD nailed him with a huge kick, before Fulton ran in and nailed a tilt a whirl flatliner, but Blanchard broke it up. Fulton started to fight Blanchard, with the knockout coming out on top, but they quickly took her back down with an elevated cutter from Fulton and Jake. Dreamer then introduced a kendo stick and cleared the ring, before setting up a table in the corner. Before Rhino and Dreamer could put Jake through it, Callihan gave them both a low blow, and tried to put Dreamer through the table, but Dreamer countered with a groin claw. Jake then nailed Dreamer with a superkick, only to get caught with a gore through the table. RVD then nailed a frog splash, and Blanchard locked in a crossface with a kendo stick to make Jake tap out.
Grade: B-. This was non stop action. Everyone was flying around the ring, hitting bit moves and it was fun. It didn’t quite get into B territory, but it was still very enjoyable. OvE are awesome, as is Blanchard, so I’m not surprised they put on a fun match. The ECW guys also put on a good show, and even though they just sorta hit their big moves, that was enough. Fun stuff.
Ace Austin and Alisha Edwards backstage: Austin told Alisha Edwards that we would be with her no matter what, and that he’d always be there for her. Then he asked where Eddie was, and she didn’t know. She then walked away, with Austin looked knowingly into the camera. Fun times.
The North Backstage: The two said they were celebrating LAX leaving Impact. They said that it was a party, and forced Josh Alexander to wear a hat, much to his dismay. They said they were gonna have a fiesta, and left to party. I dunno if that is in their character, but it seemed dumb to me.
Alisha Edwards vs. Taya Valkyrie: They started things off with some trash talk, but Valkyrie quickly threw Edwards to the mat and started to pound on her. It wasn’t long into the match when a doctor pushed Austin out to the ring to watch the match. Valkyrie constantly tried to score the pin, over and over again, looking almost desperate. Edwards fought back, nailing a corner dropkick, a ripcord lariat, and a flatliner, but Johnny Bravo pulled Edwards out of the ring. Austin then stood right up out of the wheelchair, and hit a a shining wizard on the apron to take Bravo out of the match, before quickly getting back into the chair and putting the sling back on. As he did, Valkyrie nailed her finish and got the win.
Grade: C-. Yeah, you know the match and story is bad when the only highlight that is shown is of a brawl at ringside. Valkyrie looked good at times, but this was largely nothing special.
The North Backstage again: They went around putting hats on people, just being annoying and dicks. They were good at it though. They confronted Rhino and RVD, but Rhino ripped their pinata apart, and they walked away. RVD said that he liked to party, and Rhino just said he wanted the fucking candy. This wasn’t good, although they are charasmatic enough to make it watchable.
Shera vs. Cody Deaner: The Desi Hit Squad and jake were in their respective corners. Shera quickly just threw Cody all over the ring. Cody tried to fight back with some strikes, and even gave the rest of the Desi hit squad a suicide dive. Cody then hung Shera up on the top rope, and went for a splash, but Shera caught him and nailed a chokeslam. Shera then picked Cody up and hit a slam for the win.
Grade: C+. Squizzity squizzity squash.
The Rascalz vs. Arez, Australian Suicide and Toxin: The match started quickly when every member of the rascalz nailed moonsaults and then triple suicide dives on the luchadores. Trey started things out against, but Toxin quickly came in to nail a brainbuster. Dez then ran in for a bulldog and a senton, only for Arez to hit a titl a whirl backbreaker. Wentz then ran in for a corkscrew senton, but Suicide nailed him with some amazing flying moves. Arez then hit a suicide dive, Toxin went for a suicide moonsault, but the Rasclz caught him, only for Suicide to hit a shooting star press to the outisde.  Everyone started to scramble in and hit big moves, and the Rasclaz hit the pushed moonsault for the win.
Grade: C+. Lots of quick moves and high spots, but they went too fast to really appreciate it. You never knew who to look at or who to follow, and they didn’t give the match long enough to develop. But the right guys won and looked good doing it. I didn’t get much of a sense for the luchadores, because I haven’t seen them before and they weren’t talked about enough to really stand out. They looked fine though. Just not enough substance for me.
Moose segment: He talked a whole bunch of crap to Ken Shamrock. He was mostly walking around and trying to get shot inMexico city. Then he just attacked three dudes on the street. He said he was the world’s most dangerous man, and stood tall over three random dudes.
Brian Cage Bachelor Party teaser: Rich Swann, Tommy Dreamer and Brian Cage said that they were going to cheat tonight. How fun. They cut away before anything happened, so I don’t think that this was the actual segment.
Tenille Dashwood Interview: She said that she hadn’t fought many of the knockouts, so she showed up to do so. She said that she really wanted to fight Madison Rayne, Tessa Blanchard and Taya Valkyrie. She said that she wanted to make sure the spotlight is on her, and will do so by taking the opportunities that were so held back from her.
Jessica Havok vs. Su Yung in a No Disqualification match: Havok attacked Su Yung during the entrance, and started to run her around into the apron and the barricade. Havok quickly tried to go for the staple gun, but Su Yung bit her hand and started to shower Havok with kicks and knees for a near fall. The two fought back to the outside, with Havok getting control right back. At one point, we saw Yung walk along be barricade, but Havok pulled her off and into the barricade as well. Havok then introduced a ladder, which Yung set up in the corner, before nailing a hangman’s pedigree for a near fall. Yung then ran Havok into a chair in the corner, before stapling her leg and chest with a staple gun, followed by a somersault senton. Yung then donned the bloody glove, but Havok fought back with a trio of kicks to the face. Havok then picked Yung up and hit the tombstone.
After the match, Yung gave Havok the mandible claw, before throwing her into the ladder and dropping it on Havoks head. Yung grabbed another chair that she threw into Havok’s face. Back on the outside, Havok pushed Yung to the top of the ramp, and they exchanged forearms, before spilling into the back and continuing the brawl. They smashed each other’s faces into the walls and stairs and stuff, and fought up some of the stairs, where Havok hung Yung.
Grade: D+. Bad. Very slow. The stuff after actually kinda improved it for me, even though it was kinda dumb. The match sucked though, Havok didn’t impress me at all and I’m pretty sure Su Yung can do better. Just bad and disappointing. Also, someone got hung! And I thought Lucha Underground got cancelled.
Bachelor and Bachelorette parties: Valkyrie poured herself a drink and was being loud and annoying. She toasted herself, but the rest of the group toasted Melissa. Then Joey Ryan showed up as a policeman stripper and danced around. He poured champaign all over himself and gave Melissa a lap dance. At the Bachelor party, Swann, Cage and Dreamer made a bunch of sex jokes, but turns out that the cheating was cheating on his diet. Har dee har.
Johnny Swinger package: a guy walked around a city sounding like a douchebag. I guess that he is debuting next week.
Willie Mack & Rich Swann vs. LAX: The match started out with a respectful handshake, and everyone just soaked in the crowd for a bit. Santana and Swann started things out with some fast paced mat wrestling, with each guy making an awesome escape and cartwheeling out of ranas. The two wrestled for a long time, going counter for counter until Santana tackled Swann into the LAX corner and gave Ortiz the tag in. Swann then rolled back into his corner and tagged in Mack, who took on Ortiz. Mack then took chop after chop from LAX in the corner, and actually go a cool spear and lariat combo on Ortiz after escaping. Mack then picked up the speed and took out Ortiz with a tackle, samoan drop and a moonsault for a near fall. Mack and Swann continued to beat down Ortiz, who only fought back a bit as they fought. Ortiz nearly got a hot tag after a huge lariat to Swann, but Mack tagged in and took Santana off the apron. Ortiz then gave Mack a huge DDT, and Santana got the hot tag. Lax then went through a whole complicated sequence before giving Swann a neckbreaker on the knee. Santana then went to the top, but Mack caught him and Swann gave him a crucifix neckbreaker for a near fall. Everyone was in the ring and hit huge moves one after another, leaving everyone down. LAX then hit a huge combo, a powerbomb from Ortiz and then a powerbomb onto Ortiz’s knees from Santana, but Mack broke it up. LAX were going to go for their finish, but Swann got an ensiguri and then a rana off the top, followed by a huge frog splash from Mack for a super close near fall. Santana then desperately fought off both men with slaps, only for Mack and Swann to hit double superkicks. They then showered Santana with kicks, taking him down with a handspring cutter, a stunner, a 450 and the frog splash for the win.
After the match, everyone came out to the ring and gave Ortiz and Santana hugs. Konan got his fair share of hugs too. It was emotional, and they were treated like the legends and heroes that they are. Congratulations, Ortiz and Santana. Go on to bigger things, and kill it in the mainstream crowd. You will always be remembered as some of the guys who put impact on the map during these years. Good luck and Godspeed.
Grade: B+. This was the sendoff that LAX deserved. The closing stretch was actually awesome, and this tag match was a great way to send the champs off. Swann and Mack were exciting babyfaces that looked great in the ring with them, and they put on a really good main event that was so fast paced I could hardly keep up. Of course, LAX went out on their back and that is the right way to go. They lost a really good match, and the sendoff afterwards was emotional and good. Match of the night.
Su Yung in the hospital: Su Yung died in the hospital, but then she sat up. They seriously ended on this rather than the heartwarming shots of LAX leaving the company? Ugh.
Overall Grade: C
Pros: main event
Cons: edwards vs. valkyrie; no dq match

Guest Room [T.H]
Request: “Could you write a fic about tom giving an interview about his pregnant wife? thank you!!”
Pairing: Tom Holland X Pregnant!Reader
Genre: Fluff (you don’t see me doing that a lot, huh?)
A/N: Another small blurb, but it was such a cute idea and I needed to write it.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“So, Tom, you and your wife just revealed that you are expecting, is that right?” Asked the interviewer while she adjusted her hair to the side, crossing her legs quickly.
“Well, yeah!” Exclaimed Tom, a big smile opening on his mouth as he sat a bit more to the edge of his chair, too excited to talk about his new favorite subject. “(Y/N)’s already three months and we are loving the experience!”
“Do you guys already know the gender?” Asked the blond woman as she rested her chin against her palm.
“I mean, I have a feeling that it’s going to be a girl, but (Y/N) thinks it’s a boy” Tom said and the crowd cheered a bit, watching as his smile opened a bit more.
From behind the curtains, you were offered a chair to watch the interview, so you sipped on your water and laughed as your hand fell on your baby bump, holding the fabric of your floral dress as your thumb caressed the skin slowly, reassuring your little bean that his daddy was doing a great job out there.
“Either way, we will love them a lot!” The man smiled wider and crossed his arms.
“And are you willing to teach them something about your job?” Asked the woman again and Tom rolled his eyes playfully.
“They will love Spider-Man, that’s not even a choice anymore” he said and let out a laugh, making you roll your eyes, too. “But I’ll let them do whatever they want to, and if they want to be an actor like me, then score!”
You bit your lower lip, enjoying to see how much Tom was enjoying himself there, predicting the future of your child so far away, but seeming like it was just yesterday when you saw the positive on your pregnancy test, too scared of his reaction.
Silly you, when he saw the two lines, he grabbed you by the waist and spinning you around the apartment, only to put you on the floor again and apologize to the little bean inside you in case he might’ve hurt something. A kiss on your forehead and whispers of promises he made that evening were enough to keep you calm about the whole situation.
“And we were meaning to ask; how’s it going?” Asked the woman and Tom furrowed his brows. “We saw your live a few days back and wanted to know more about the whole ‘guest room’ story.”
Tom let out a deep laugh and you giggled to yourself, a bit embarrassed while the big screen behind them showed the little videos he posted on his Instagram Stories. A disheveled brown-haired man rubbing his eyes and looking tired sat on a empty bed and started talking with a raspy and quiet voice, probably trying not to wake you up.
“So, since you guys know, (Y/N)’s pregnant” he said on the video and yawned quickly, dropping his head on the pillow. “And pregnant women are scary, man. You don’t want to mess with them.”
The video now showed Tom rubbing his eyes again and resting his head on his bicep as he flipped the camera around the guest room in your apartment.
“I was going to sleep and she decided that she needed a tuna sandwich. At 3 in the morning” he said with a serious face and you laughed to yourself as your eyes kept focused on the video. “So I went to the kitchen and made her a sandwich, and when I came back, she was asleep, and I was dumb to try to wake her up.”
“When she opened her eyes, I knew I was dead. She started screaming and crying and saying that she wanted a carrot with mayo on top and I said I was going to grab it, but then she changed her mind and made me sleep in the guest room.” Tom said quickly, laughing a bit, but his eyes showed worry. “Good night for us, guys. I will sleep completely alone, since even Tessa won’t stick with me.”
After the video ended, Tom was laughing his ass off and your face looked like a tomato from all the shame you felt watching that. When you discovered your pregnancy and told your mom, she gave you some advice and said that you should be careful about your emotions, because they would change so quickly that you wouldn’t even notice because of all the hormones inside your body.
And that night was the first night that it hit you, and it hit you hard, and poor Tom had to suffer. You were lucky that he was such a nice man and understood that, then you two laughed later and it became an inside joke between you.
“Well, it is what it is” Tom said as he adjusted his position on the chair. “It was the first time that she really experienced her changes of humor, but things are calmer now. She still eats tuna sandwiches, though.”

SmackDown on Fox Episode #45 SmackDown Episode # 1,094 Orlando, FL – WWE Performance Center 7/7//20 We open the show with a recap video that covers the Swamp Fight as well as what happened last week between The Fiend and Alexa Bliss. We then go to the Firefly Funhouse where Wyatt has removed all of the pictures on his wall and replaced them all with pictures of Braun Strowman. Wyatt says he has been getting a lot of hate for what happened to Alexa Bliss last week, but the person who should be blamed is Braun Strowman as he could’ve prevented it from happening if he had just given The Fiend what he wants. Wyatt says The Fiend will be there later tonight and he is bringing a special friend, Wyatt advises Strowman to give The Fiend what he wants or else Alexa Bliss will truly see how evil The Fiend can be. Wyatt then waves bye as this edition of Firefly Funhouse comes to a close. We go inside the PC and immediately go into the first match of the night.  Match #1: Matt Riddle vs Sheamus They lockup and Sheamus backs Riddle into the corner where he tries to rough Riddle up but Riddle fights back. Riddle goes behind and locks on a sleeper and then jumps on Sheamus’s back but Sheamus gets to the ropes to force the break. Both men circle the ring trying to feel the other out as neither wants to make the wrong move, Sheamus finally grabs a side headlock and uses it to slam Riddle to the mat and then Sheamus grabs control of the arm but Riddle is able to quickly escape and then he takes Sheamus down with a leg pick. Sheamus gets back to his feet and we are back to square one and once again Sheamus grabs a headlock but Riddle backs him into the ropes to force a break. Sheamus takes Riddle down with a knee to the gut and then puts the boots to him and then he grounds Riddle with a standing armbar until Riddle fights back with shots to the midsection, Riddle applies an armbar of his own but he can’t get Sheamus down to the mat so he uses some joint manipulation on the fingers to get Sheamus down and once Riddle does that he transitions into a hammerlock and then he transitions from into a pin attempt but only gets a 1 count.  Both men get to their feet and Riddle tries for a double leg takedown but Sheamus blocks and then he powers Riddle up and slams him on the mat with a powerbomb, but is unable to capitalize right away due to the pain in his arm. Sheamus delivers some right hands to Riddle and tries to whip him into the ropes but Riddle blocks and then hits Sheamus with a big forearm before backdropping him to the apron, Sheamus snaps Riddle’s neck across the top rope and then delivers the Ten Beats of the Bodhran. Sheamus climbs up top but Riddle hits him with a running forearm that knocks Sheamus down to the floor and that sends us to commercial.  We come back to Sheamus rag-dolling Riddle around as he has him in a rear chinlock, Riddle escapes and comes off the ropes where he is caught with a trifecta of Irish Curse backbreakers which gets him a 2 count. Sheamus goes back to the rear chinlock and this time when Riddle tries to fight out of it Sheamus hits him with a knee and then goes for a back suplex but Riddle lands on his feet and then drops Sheamus with a big roundhouse kick. Sheamus is somehow able to get right back to his feet but Riddle is ready for him as he hits him with repeated body strikes and then a push kick sends Sheamus rebounding off the ropes and then Riddle catches the arm on a clothesline attempt and hits Sheamus with a Pele kick. Riddle is fired up as he hits Sheamus with a couple of running forearms in the corner followed by an exploder, a PK, and a broton but Sheamus is still able to kick out at 2.  Riddle hits Sheamus with another broton and then goes up top looking for the floating bro but when he jumps off Sheamus moves out of the way and Riddle was able to see it coming as he lands on his feet and rolls through and then charges toward Sheamus who catches him with White Noise for a 2 count. Sheamus calls for the Brogue Kick but Riddle sidesteps and hits Sheamus with a deadlift German suplex for a 2 count. Riddle goes for a running knee strike but Sheamus side steps and catches Riddle in a schoolboy for a 2 count and then Sheamus hits Riddle with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Riddle goes over to the corner and sidesteps sending Sheamus shoulder first into the ring post and out to the floor. Riddle goes out and delivers some kicks to Sheamus’s chest but Sheamus comes back with a knee strike and then gets back into the ring. Riddle gets back to his feet and when he does Shorty G runs down the ramp and attacks Riddle to cause a DQ. Winner: Matt Riddle via DQ   Match Rating: **¾   After the match, Riddle turns the tables on Shorty and starts beating him down as he slams him into the announce table and the plexiglass and then takes him down with a flying superman punch off the steps and then sends him into the steps before he walks to the back. Sheamus throws Shorty G into the ring and lays him out with two Brogue Kicks for costing him the match just because he wanted to capture Corbin’s bounty.  This was a fun match between two guys who I didn’t know I wanted to see face each other but as good as the match was it would’ve been even better if it didn’t have a stupid DQ finish, but given that it was the first of 3 DQ/No Contest finishes in one night it wasn’t too egregious and I did like that they are continuing the story of Shorty G trying to cash in on Corbin’s bounty.  The Dirt Sheet with special guest Sonya Deville is up next.  We come back to Corbin talking to some random girl backstage when he is interrupted by a less than pleased Sheamus who is pissed about Corbin’s little minion costing him a win because of Corbin’s stupid bounty, Sheamus says that if Corbin tries that again he will kick his head off his shoulders and stick his crown up his ass and if Corbin thinks he is joking all he has to do is try him. Corbin says that Sheamus is lucky that he has to deal with Jeff Hardy because if not he would kick Sheamus’s ass right then and there and then Corbin walks off.  I liked that Sheamus took his frustrations further than just beating up Shorty and directed it toward Corbin as he knew that was the main reason as to why Shorty ran out there in the first place because you rarely see a heel confronting another heel.  It’s time for the Dirt Sheet We get a recap of last week when Sonya Deville beatdown Mandy Rose and cut off some of her hair. The Miz and Morrison start talking about what happened when their mics start cutting out and Morrison says that The Retribution isn’t booked for tonight’s show. They then talk about giving a victim of Sonya’s attack last week a platform and this leads to a dumbass 5 minute part of this segment where on the tron there is a video that shows some hair with googly eyes that Miz and Morrison do the voice for and this is so dumb I barely paid attention to what they said, however, I immediately got back into the segment when they then introduced Sonya Deville to the Dirt Sheet.  Sonya doesn’t understand why everyone is so confused as to why she did what she did last week, she was just delivering on a promise she made weeks ago which was to make Mandy as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside. Sonya says she absolutely enjoyed everything she did to Mandy last week because she could see that Mandy was scared and concerned about her face because Mandy’s good looks are all she has ever had going for her. Sonya says she doesn’t feel bad at all for what she did because she doesn’t respect Mandy. Sonya says she has broken Mandy both physically and emotionally.  Sonya said that everyone is waiting on Mandy’s music to hit but it’s not going to happen and then challenges Mandy to come out and prove her wrong. Miz and Morrison say that Mandy has been silent all week and hasn’t even posted anything on social media. Sonya says Mandy got to the WWE by winning bikini contests and then talks about how Mandy won a Bumpy Award (an award given out on the WWE Network exclusive show The Bump) just for making out with Otis and how the only bright side of all of this is that Mandy and Otis now look like a more suitable couple. Miz and Morrison start mocking Otis and Mandy and that is when Heavy Machinery runs out and beats down the heels until they retreat to end the segment.  The first half of this segment was some of the dumbest and shittiest comedy I have ever seen in wrestling and was so cringeworthy, however, once Sonya came out I was all about this segment as she once again stole the show and saved this segment from being considered as Wrestlecrap. I’m so glad this feud is continuing as it has been one of the top highlights on SmackDown for the entire year.   Match #2: Cesaro w/ Shinsuke Nakamura vs Lince Dorado w/ Gran Metalik They lockup and Cesaro pushes Dorado into the corner and delivers a punch and a knee to the gut before whipping Dorado into the opposite corner, but Dorado jumps up and over Cesaro and then cartwheels and backflips into another corner and when Cesaro charges toward him Dorado moves out of the way and then tries for a flying headscissors on Cesaro, but he gets caught and hit with a backbreaker followed by a European uppercut. Dorado grabs the leg of Dorado and is perhaps looking for the Big Swing, but Dorado kicks away and tries to get Cesaro away from him but Cesaro grabs the ankle and looks to pull Dorado up but Dorado lands on his feet only to be taken down with a leg trip from Cesaro. Dorado uses Cesaro to pop-up to his shoulders and take him down with a headscissors and then we get more Retribution light dimming, Dorado looks to hit a tope con hilo but Cesaro catches him and tries for a powerbomb, but Dorado grabs onto the top of the plexiglass and starts landing some punches on Cesaro and then dives off the barricade with a hurricanrana.  Dorado rolls Cesaro back into the ring and hits a sunset flip pin but Cesaro kicks out and then Dorado slides back out to the apron and hits Cesaro with an overhead kick and then goes for a springboard crossbody but Cesaro catches him and hits him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a 2 count. Cesaro grounds Dorado and hits him with some clubbing blows to the chest and then hits him with an elbow drop for another 2 count. Cesaro tries to lock in a surfboard but Dorado blocks that with a mule kick and then hits Cesaro with a jawbreaker.  Cesaro reverses a whip into the corner but runs into a boot from Dorado, Dorado charges at Cesaro and pops up on top of Cesaro’s shoulders and backflips off of them and then he hits Cesaro with a handspring stunner. Dorado goes for the moonsault trifecta but when he goes for the third Nakamura hops up on the apron to serve as a distraction and this allows Cesaro to hit Dorado from behind and then he goes for a Razor’s edge but Dorado counters it into a hurricanrana for a 2 count. Dorado bounces off the rope and runs into a big European uppercut from Cesaro and then Cesaro hits Dorado with the Neutralizer for the 3 count. Winner: Cesaro via Pinfall   Match Rating: *** This match definitely has to go to be added to the list of greatest sub 5 minute matches as these two put on one hell of a sprint to the point where I had to bump it up to three stars despite it not being a long match. I definitely want to see these two work together more and if they make Cesaro & Nakamura vs LHP official for SummerSlam it will definitely be the sleeper pick for best match of the night, just like this match was the best match on this episode of SmackDown by a long shot.  We are informed that The Miz & John Morrison will face Heavy Machinery tonight after what happened on The Dirt Sheet earlier in the night. We go backstage where Kayla Braxton interviews Heavy Machinery who are not happy. Otis says that Miz & Morrison crossed the line and while he doesn’t mind people making fun of him he will not stand for it when it comes to his peach Mandy Rose and when you get him angry it no longer becomes a laughing matter.  The Fiend then makes his way to the ring and this sends us to commercial.  We come back to the ring with The Fiend in the ring and Alexa Bliss is sitting below him. The Fiend circles around her and then backs up into the corner and crawls back towards her, it looks like he is going to put the Mandible Claw on her once again but this time she grabs his arm and then looks up at him and places her hand on his face and just as it seemed like the Bray Wyatt part of him was going to give into her but The Fiend part took back over and snapped him out it but before anything else can happen we hear Strowman’s voice as he is on the tron. Strowman says he doesn’t give a damn about Alexa as all he cares about is destroying The Fiend. Strowman knew that after the Swamp Fight he was either going to come out as the evilest son of a bitch anybody has ever laid eyes on or he would have the satisfaction of spitting in the devil’s face and now you’re looking at the evilest son of a bitch. Strowman said he tried to fight it and tried to resist but he has been pushed to his breaking point but now he is letting it all out and fulfilling his destiny. Strowman says he is more than a man, he is a monster and that Fiend can have whatever he wants at SummerSlam. Strowman tells The Fiend to face his fears and face the monster.  Much like the Dirt Sheet segment earlier in the night this segment was both good and bad. I enjoyed the first part with just The Fiend and Alexa as it further teases that perhaps she could join Wyatt in the future which as I said before is something I would love to see. I do have one problem with the Alexa part of the segment as it made zero sense which is how and why did Alexa just magically appear in the middle of the ring, it would’ve been much better if The Fiend had been dragging or carrying her to the ring as he made his entrance instead of her just showing up out of thin air. I absolutely hated the Strowman part of this segment as this deep-voiced “evil” Strowman just isn’t cutting it as this is not the Strowman people want to see because it’s not the same Strowman that everyone fell in love with. The lines they are giving him aren’t working either, mainly because he keeps repeating the same lines that he has been saying for the past month. Why do I feel like after hearing this promo that we are going to get Strowman as a monster at SummerSlam as they are going to go all-in on building a Fiend vs Monster match.  The only part of the Strowman part of the segment that I liked was the part where he said he didn’t give a damn about Alexa because that once again feels like a reason as to why Alexa would want to turn on him and join up with Wyatt, also why are we supposed to believe that he doesn’t care about Alexa when he was making a beeline toward her when she showed up in the Swamp Fight, this was just a terrible promo and a halfway terrible segment all together.  Match #3: Jeff Hardy vs King Corbin Hardy ducks a clothesline right off the bat and hits him with an inverted atomic drop and then works over the arm for a moment until Corbin breaks his grip. Hardy ducks another clothesline and comes back with a running forearm and then we get the inverted atomic drop, double leg drop, and a basement dropkick to the face for a 2 count. Hardy calls for the Twist of Fate, but Corbin hits him with a big right and then charges in, Hardy moves which sets up the slide outside and back inside spot and when Corbin slides in Hardy tries for the Twist of Fate once again but Corbin spins out and levels Hardy with a big clothesline for a 2 count. Corbin picks Hardy up off the mat a couple of times just to knock him right back down. Corbin throws Hardy to the outside where he hits him with some punches across the announce table and then rolls him back inside the ring. Corbin drives elbows down into the shoulder of Hardy and then locks in the patented Corbin rest hold, Hardy tries to fight out of it but Corbin takes him right back down for another minute until Hardy gets to his feet once again and elbows out of the hold. Corbin throws Hardy back into the corner and it looks like we are going to get another slide out and back in spot, but Hardy hits him with a dropkick through the ropes sending Corbin into the barricade. Hardy sends Corbin into the plexiglass and then throws him back into the ring but when Hardy slides in he runs right into a Deep Six for a 2 count. Corbin looks to pull Hardy in for the End of Days, but Hardy blocks it with punches and then tries for a sitout jawbreaker but Corbin connects with a knee to the chest which sends Hardy rolling to the outside. Sheamus runs down and hits Hardy with a Brogue Kick which causes our 2nd DQ finish of the night. Winner: Jeff Hardy via DQ  Match Rating: **  This match was absolutely nothing special and the fact that it gave us the second DQ finish of the night didn’t help make it any better. We come back from commercial to an impromptu match. Match #4: King Corbin vs Sheamus Sheamus works over Corbin in the corner with punches and kicks and then he bounces his head off the top turnbuckle and continues to stay on him with uppercuts and knee strikes. Sheamus sends Corbin into the ropes but drops his head too early which allows Corbin to kick him in the head, but when Corbin runs off the ropes he is caught with a kitchen sink by Sheamus. Corbin tries to roll out of the ring but Sheamus catches him and pulls him up to the apron where he tries for the 10 Beats of the Bodhran but Corbin blocks it and slides down to the floor to escape Sheamus. Sheamus goes to the outside but is taken down by a big clothesline from Corbin. Corbin sends Sheamus into the plexiglass and then delivers body blows to Sheamus and bounces his head off the announce table before sending Sheamus back into the ring.  Sheamus catches Corbin with a knee as he gets into the ring and then he clotheslines Corbin back to the outside where he delivers the same punishment Corbin delivered to him and then he sends Corbin into the ring post. Sheamus throws Corbin back into the ring and goes up top where he tries for a clothesline but Corbin ducks and then hits Sheamus with a side slam for a 2 count. Corbin delivers some mounted punches and then sends Sheamus shoulder-first into the ring post and delivers some more punches to the back of Sheamus’s head. We get our second Corbin rest hold of the night which Sheamus eventually fights out of and then he tries to deadlift Corbin for the White Noise, but Corbin slides out the back and levels Sheamus with a clothesline. At that time Riddle springboards over Corbin to cause a distraction and this leads to Sheamus hitting a Brogue Kick to pick up the win. Winner: Sheamus via Pinfall   Match Rating: **¼   If this match didn’t have Riddle interfering at the end to make it the third match on the show with a finish involving someone interfering I would have enjoyed this much better as these two hosses were beating the hell out of each other and I would love to see them face each other again but next time give them more time and a clean finish.   We cut backstage where Bayley looks worried and when Sasha asks her what’s wrong Bayley tries to act like nothing’s wrong but when Sasha asks her if it has anything to do with her facing Bayley on Raw Monday she does say that she wishes Sasha would’ve asked her first but Sasha reassures her that she has nothing to worry about and that not only are they role models but Bayley is her role model. A member of the crew walks up and tells them they are needed in the ring for a video conference with Stephanie McMahon and this sends us to break. We come back from commercial to Kayla Braxton who is interviewing Big E who talks about how he plans to give all of himself in this singles run and that while the support from the fans and the co-sign from Kingston & Woods should be a weight that holds him down instead it lifts him up. Big E and Kayla then do the New Day rocks together and Big E gets Kayla laughing.   Why was Big E in his gear when he didn’t have a match on the show? I love the chemistry that Kayla has with the members of New Day especially Big E as this was a fun little interview and the part at the end where Big E got Kayla laughing was kinda cute.  We then go to the ring where Sasha Banks and Bayley are awaiting their meeting with Stephanie McMahon via satellite. Stephanie congratulates them on winning all the gold and then Bayley and Sasha start trying to suck up to Stephanie saying that they want to be role models to all little girls including Stephanie’s daughters. Stephanie tells them to chill and while they may have found a loophole to the stipulation she made for the Raw Women’s Championship match last week she doesn’t hold a grudge and won’t be punishing them, however, she does want to challenge them and that’s why at SummerSlam Sasha will possibly defend her title against Asuka while Bayley will defend her title against the winner of a tri-brand battle royal which will be happening next week on SmackDown. I enjoyed this segment as Bayley and Sasha were great as usual as they were trying to suck up to Stephanie to the point where they bring up wanting to be role models to Stephanie’s daughters. I like the idea of the tri-brand battle royal to determine Bayley’s next challenger as that hopefully means a fresh challenger that we haven’t seen her against, I feel this is a perfect way to bring one of the many talented women of NXT onto SmackDown. Battle Royals are a guilty pleasure of mine so I look forward to covering that match next week.  We cut backstage where Miz, Morrison, and Sonya are chilling when Kayla walks up for an interview and asks them if they regret anything they said during the Dirt Sheet earlier in the night but they don’t regret it and say that what they did was sophisticated commentary and they were trying to outsmart Heavy Machinery because outsmarting Otis is like playing chicken against a pot-bellied pig and then they say more disparaging things toward Heavy Machinery before walking off.  Match #5: The Miz & John Morrison w/ Sonya Deville vs Heavy Machinery It looks like we are going to get a lockup but Morrison hits Tucker with a forearm and a couple of kicks but the tide quickly turns when Tucker catches the leg of Morrison and uses it to slam Morrison to the mat. Tucker then hits a waistlock takedown and then mounts Morrison for a moment and then goes for another waistlock takedown, but Morrison back elbows Tucker to escape his grasp. Tucker blocks a kick from Morrison and then takes him down with a clothesline and then we get some more Retribution light flickering.  Tucker sends Morrison into the babyface corner and tags in Otis who whips Tucker into Morrison for an avalanche and then Tucker sends Morrison toward Otis who hits Morrison with a shoulder block which Morrison takes a hilariously unrealistic spinning bump from. Otis sends Morrison into the ropes and Morrison flips over the back of Otis and makes a tag to The Miz. Otis no-sells some strikes from The Miz and then rips his shirt off and hits The Miz with a headbutt and a body attack before tagging in Tucker. Heavy Machinery hits The Miz with a double belly bump which sends Miz rolling out of the ring and then Tucker dives off the apron with a cannonball that takes down both Miz and Morrison and this sends us to break.  We come back and Miz has Tucker in a front facelock and as Tucker tries to walk over and reach his corner he is hit with a knee to the face and a big boot which sends Tucker staggering back into the heel corner. Miz tags in Morrison and despite Tucker trying to fight his way out of the corner Miz catches him and we get a double team combo of a backbreaker and double stomp combo which gets him a 2 count. Morrison hits Tucker with a kick to the back and then tries for a running knee but Tucker gets his feet up and kicks Morrison in the leg. We get a quick strike exchange before Morrison kicks him in the leg and then hits the running knee he was looking for earlier and then tags in The Miz.  Miz and Morrison hit Tucker with a double gutbuster and then Miz hits him with a basement DDT for another 2 count. Miz leans Tucker across the middle rope and distracts the referee long enough for Morrison to get in a cheap shot. Miz and Morrison try to hit their catapult and slingshot elbow combo, but Tucker forearms Morrison off the apron and then and then sits down on Miz. Tucker makes the hot tag to Otis who comes in with clotheslines for both men and a flapjack on Morrison. Otis slams Miz and then throws Morrison across the ring with an exploder and then he hits Morrison with an avalanche and then he hits the Caterpillar elbow drop for a 2 count when Miz breaks up the pin.  Tucker pulls Miz out of the ring and looks to hit him with a clothesline but Miz sidesteps and this sends Tucker into the barricade and then he sends Otis into the steps. Mandy Rose runs down and we have a brawl that leads to the match being thrown out.  Winner: N/A via No Contest   Match Rating: **¼  After the match, both teams hold back their respective ladies to keep them from ripping each other apart and that sends us to break.  We come back to the women still trying to get to each other while they are being held back and while this is happening the lights go out momentarily and then come back on. The match was decent but nothing special and it completed the trend of the night of having shitty non-finishes. This match was just a way to set up the brawl between Mandy and Sonya at the end. I like the new shorter hair on Mandy as it really suits her. I have a feeling all of this hair cutting could be leading to a hair vs hair match at SummerSlam between Mandy and Sonya.  We cut inside the arena and The Retribution has arrived with weapons and they start to tear up stuff and then harass the crew at ringside which sends Graves and Cole running to the back. Retribution then goes behind the plexiglass and attacks one of the female PC audience members and then they go back in the ring with some spray paint and paint up the place, finally they grab a chainsaw and cut the ropes before hyping each other up as the show comes to a close.  I get what they want this Retribution group to be but I feel like they shot themselves in the foot right from the beginning when they announced the group was going to debut on Raw as that completely does away with the chaotic, unpredictable, and anti-WWE vibe that the group is supposed to have because why would the group tell WWE ahead of time they are going to show up and furthermore why would they even want to communicate with the company they are supposed to be against. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I liked this closing segment on SmackDown as I feel they wanted it to be as chaotic as some of the other faction debuts in history with the most notable being the Nexus, however, this segment paled in comparison to that awesome Nexus debut. I think one reason as to why this segment didn’t connect for me personally was because the whole time I was more concerned with who these people are under the mask rather than what chaos they were causing whereas with the Nexus debt we knew who they were right from the start and thus could put full concentration on the actual chaos they were causing. With that said I will remain optimistic about the Retribution storyline and look forward to seeing where it goes next because I don’t think it’s dead in the water like a lot of other people do in the IWC.  I know a lot of people are shitting on this segment (as well as the Raw Underground segments) because of all of the camera cuts but for me, all of those camera cuts don’t hinder or help my enjoyment of a segment or match, I don’t know what it says about me but I never really notice or pay attention to the camera cuts in the moment and probably wouldn’t ever pay them any mind at all if people didn’t bitch about them constantly, of all the things that make WWE hard to watch at times the camera cuts are at the bottom of the list for me.  After the great show we had last week this week’s show was a letdown as we had 4 out of the 5 matches end in either a DQ, No Contest, or distraction, we had a stupid segment where Miz and Morrison talked to Mandy Rose’s hair, we had Strowman cutting a terrible promo, and the final segment didn’t come off as impactful as they had hoped it would be. The highlights of the show were the Cesaro vs Dorado match, everything involving Sonya & Mandy, and the interaction between Alexa Bliss and The Fiend.  That’s all for this week see you guys next week for more blue brand action including a giant tri-brand battle royal.

Impact Wrestling 10/4/19 Review
This was a good episode, but not overly so. There wasn’t a whole lot of forward momentum going into Bound for Glory, they are mostly just hitting on a couple story beats over and over again. However, in a couple stories, we are getting some interesting interaction, and some good matches. The card is shaping up nicely, and I’m looking forward to the the big show. Should be pretty exciting. Here is my full review of Impact Wrestling.
Madison Rayne vs. Tenille Dashwood vs. Kiera Hogan: Dashwood tried to start things out with a quick victory, but Hogan and Rayne quickly started to work together. Dashwood and Hogan fought a bit, with Dashwood nailing a butterfly suplex. For a 1 count. Rayne then hopped on Dashwoods back and held her in place for a superkick from Hogan. Once again, the heels teamed up on Dashwood. Dashwood fought back a bit, throwing Hogan to the outside before locking in an interesting submission on Rayne, only for Hogan to break it up. Once again, the two beat down Dashwood with some really good low dropkicks and moves of the such. They then took the match to the outside, until Dashwood dodged a tope suicida from Hogan that took out Rayne. Dashwood fought her went back into the ring with a neckbreaker through the ropes on Hogan, but Rayne pulled her out of the pin. Rayne and Hogan started to argue about the miscommunication from earlier in the match. They set Dashwood up in the corner, and were arguing about who was going to deliver the superplex. As they argued, Dashwood smacked their heads together, which made Hogan fall off. She then was able to give Rayne a powerbomb onto Hogan, but they all kciked out. She locked Hogan in a Tarantula, before giving Rayne a drop toehold into Hogan, and then both of them a Taste of Tenille. Once again, the heels teamed up on Dashwood, but they argued some more, until Dashwood pushed Rayne into Hogan to send Hogan out of the ring. Dashwood rolled up Rayne for a 2 count before hitting the Spotlight for the win.
Grade: B-. A fun little story here, with Dashwood needing to overcome two dysfunctional heels. It was good, they had a pretty fun match that I liked a lot. Good stuff to open things up. Dashwood continues to impress.
Eddie Edwards and Tommy Dreamer Backstage: Eddie told Dreamer that he needed a lot of help, and Dreamer told him that he needs professional help. Eddie claimed that RENO SCUM drugged him. Dreamer told him that he would always have Eddie’s back, but turns out, Edwards was talking to Kenny the Kendo Stick. Ugh. Wasn’t Eddie Edwards kinda badass a few years ago? Like when he feuded with Davey Richards, and when he later teamed with Davey Richards? I wish I could see more of that Eddie Edwards rather than this “I’m so wacky” guy. Reminds me of Dean Ambrose, when he should be more of a Jon Moxley.
Johnny Swinger vs. Owen Travis: Owen Travis was a jobberThe two locked up right away, with Swinger overpowering the poor local guy a few times. He then started to give him falling headbutts into the nether regions of Travis, followed by an eye, back and chest rake. Travis started to fight back a bit, but Swinger nailed a huge swinging neckbreaker for the win.
Grade: C+. Haha, Swinger was actually pretty funny. I didn’t mind his stuff, and I thought the swinging neckbreaker looked pretty good. Swinger looks fine, so I’m giving this the normal squash rating.
The North Interview: The two said that they are going to prove themselves as the best tag team in the world after they beat Willie Mack and Rich Swann, but they then found out that it’ll be a three way also against RVD and Rhino.
Tessa Blanchard interview:  She claimed that Callihan has been attacking people on purpose, and said that everyone in Impact has a target on their back. This was a pretty intense promo, but I kinda got interrupted in the middle of it so I didn’t hear everything.
Impact Plus moment of the Week: Robert Roode vs. Kurt Angle at an old Bound for Glory. Looked pretty good.
Ace Austin and Alisha Edwards Backstage: Austin was being really like “nice guy” towards Alisha. He said that Eddie might be dealing with some substance abuse problems, and said that he was only a call away if she needs him. He has experience dealing with friends who has problems like this, so he will be willing to help wherever he can. He is a really good heel.
Eddie Edwards and Kenny vs. RENO SCUM: Eddie tied Kenny to the tag rope, and started things out against Adam Thornstowe. The two exchanged huge shots back in forth, before Edwards nailed a huge overhead suplex. Luster the Legend then tagged in, and he wanted Kenny. As Eddie went to do it, but Luster attacked him from behind. The two then brawled a bit, and Reno Scum started to take control with some huge to the head. Eddie then nailed a huge blue thunder bomb, but Luster grabbed his leg before he could get the hot tag to Kenny. Eddie evnetually got the hot tag to Kenny, and Eddie took control by just smacking them around with the Kendo stick. Eddie then nailed a tope suicida to Luster. Reno Scum then pulled Eddie and Kenny into the ring, and slammed Eddie into the mat. Thornstowe then went for a splash, but Eddie got his knees up. He then smacked Luster off the top with Kenny, before nailing Thornstowe with the Boston Knee Party and the win.
Grade: C-. This was dumb, really really dumb. But unfortunately, it was also really fun, mostly due to the completely idiotic commentary from a confused Josh Matthews and Don Callis, who constantly tried to pretend that Kenny was an actual wrestler. Before the tope suicida, Eddie threw Kenny out of the ring, which commentary called a tope con hilo. So yeah, that was funny, but this was a largely stupid match. Which sucks because Reno Scum looked really good.
The North Backstage: They went into the back and confronted Konnan. Konnan took a swig of tequila and the door closed.
Konnan Backstage: Konnan was lying on the floor of the room that he was in, and a bunch of people were yelling for help.
OvE Promo: Security surrounded the ring, and Sami Callihan defended his actions from last week. He said that it was an accident, and a tragedy. He then read an apology off a sheet of paper. In the middle of the apology, Brian Cage ran down to the ring, and took out security to get there. He gave Jake Crist a powerbomb on the apron, a F5 to Dave Crist, and a chokeslam to madman Fulton. Callihan ran through the crowd, and as Cage started to chase after him, a fan grabbed him and he pulled him over the barricade and slammed him. Some officials yelled at Cage as he apologized, and Cage got arrested.
Grade: B.  I actually kinda liked this. It was intense, it was cool, and it showed Cage kinda losing it. I don’t think he needed to be arrested, there could’ve just been consequences from Impact management. But yeah, this was cool. I’m into Cage getting super pissed and kicking the crap out of anyone in his way. He is awesome.
Daga vs. Chris Bey to qualify for the X-Division Ladder Match: Jake Crist was out on commentary, and Jake and Don made fun of Matthews a whole bunch. The two started out quickly, nailing some huge flying and kicks, only really stopping after Daga hit a tope suicida on Bey. Daga then took control with a snap vertical suplex. He kept up the pressure with a superman forearm into the corner and then a shining wizard for a near fall. Bey then took control with a rewind kick, and nailed a huge tope con hilo. As they went back in the ring, Bey hit a huge slingshot DDT, but still only got a near fall. Daga then put Bey in the corner, and kicked out his leg to crotch him on the middle rope, before hitting a huge Lungblower. Bey fought back with a huge back kick and an awesome flying crucifix bomb for a close near fall, but he recovered quickly and hit an avalanche Spanish fly. Daga got the win with a butterfly facebuster to the knees.
After the match, Daga and Jake argued a bit, until Dave ran out and they beat down Daga together. As they fought, Blanchard ran out and made the save.
Also, on commentary during this match, Matthews took a shot at Chris Jericho for having an ugly scarf.
Grade: B. Pretty good stuff. Lots of flying and back and forth, but not really enough selling or storytelling for my taste. There is such a thing as too fast, especially if they aren’t telling a real story during the match. They could’ve done better, but they still put on a really good match. Chris Bey is going places, he will be big.
Fallah Bahh and TJP backstage: TJP said that he thinks that he has a good game plan, and tried to get Bahh to give him some advice, but he couldn’t. He then told an interviewer that, although he is a Cruiserweight, he is confident for this match.
Moose and Ken Shamrock Press Conference: Moose called MMA barbaric and completely without skill. But he then brought in a UFC trainer so he can get some of that barbarism. He said that he will beat Shamrock, and Shamrock came to him, not the other way around. Shamrock then confronted him, and said that he will beat Moose because he isn’t attacking him from behind this time. They squared up for a photo, where they insulted each other until Moose took a cheap shot. It was cool, I liked it.
Grade: B+. This was a good segment, and since there wasn’t much going on this epsiode, I’m gonna grade it. Both guys were super intense, and were great at the MMA press conference jaw jacking. Good stuff that built well to the match. They are doing great with this build.
Jessica Havok and Father Mitchell Outside: The Father was arguing with Havok for trying to kill Su Yung. He screamed at her for the attack, until Taya Valkyrie asked them to take out Tenille Dashwood for her, and if Havok did it, she’d get the championship match at Bound for Glory. They said no. Honestly it was a stupid idea anyway, because Havok is waaaaaaay bigger than Tenille.
Michael Elgin vs. TJP: TJP tried to start out with some quick dropkicks, put Elgin avoided them. He ate a few strikes here and there, before he started to overpower TJP. TJP started to look for the kneebar, and worked over the knee as the match rolled on. Elgin took control after a huge shoulder tackle, and kept it up with some huge powermoves, until TJP retreated to the outside. TJP was able to snap the arm, before trying to lock in some more submissions, and we cut to commercial. When we came back, Elgin was rocking TJP with strike after strike, but TJP was able to get some nice counters in here and there. He low bridged Elgin to the outside and tried for a cannonball, but Elgin caught him and powerbombed him onto the apron. Elgin kept control, and started to counter TJP’s counters, such as when he had TJP in an electric chair, but he dropped him down for a bridging suplex and a two count. Elgin tried for a deadlift superplex, but TJP countered with a springboard super rana. TJP then lit up Elgin with various strikes and a springboard forearm. He then kicked Elgin into a 619 position, gave him a dropkick and then a splash for a near fall, but he reversed the kick out into a Fujiwara arm bar. Elgin tried for a flying ensiguri, but TJP dodged and tried for an armbar, but Elgin just powered him up for a huge powerbomb, followed by an awesome lariat for only a 2 count. Elgin tried for the Elgin bomb, but TJP countered into a rana. TJP then went for tope suicida, but Elgin caught him right into a powerslam, which looked awesome. Elgin then hit the deadlift super falcon arrow, but TJP still kicked out. Elgin then looked for a huge lariat, but TJP countered with a Cross armbreaker. Elgin nearly made the ropes, so TJP pulled him back into the ring, only for Elgin to then counter the cross armbreaker into a buckle bomb. He followed that up with a huge backfist and a spinning Elgin Bomb for the win.
Grade: B+. Really good match. This was more competitive than I thought it was going to be, with TJP getting a huge amount of quick offense. Elgin was mostly powering through moves here, although he hit some awesome strikes. Good match with the right winner. Hopefully TJP breaks into the X-Division soon, because he’d make an awesome champion. And that dream match will probably be as awesome as they are advertising. Match of the night.
Melissa Santos bailing out Brian Cage: Sami Callihan confronted Santos outside of the prison. Callihan told her that the attack was an accident, and blamed Cage for attacking him. However, he said that he really liked hitting her with the bottle, and then left.
Overall Grade: B-
Pros: daga vs. bey; press conference; main event
Cons: kenny as a tag team partner, ugh

Smackdown Live 9/24/19 Review
This show was a bit boring, but there was quite a bit set up here. A few matches were added to the Hell in a Cell card, and there seems to be a few new rivalries brewing as well. While not incredibly exciting, this show did a lot to set things up, and after I complained last night about that, I suppose I shouldn’t here. Here is my full review of this Weeks Smackdown, and the last smackdown on Tuesdays.
Erick Rowan Promo: He just came out and complained to the fans about not respecting him. He said that might makes right, and just complained for a while. Daniel Bryan then came out and said that if he wants respect, then they should fight. So they did
Daniel Bryan vs. Erick Rowan: Rowan quickly took control using his raw strength, and wiped out Bryan with splashes and running crossbodies. Bryan fought back with a series of kicks, but he was quickly flattened by the big man, and we cut to commercial. When we came back Rowan was still in control and he powerbombed Bryan into the post. As the two fought back into the ring, Bryan went right for the knee, hitting several chop locks, wrapping it around the post, and even drop kicking Rowan right in the knee. Bryan then went for the running knee, but Rowan caught him and powered him up for a huge jackhammer for a near fall. Rowan then locked in a bear hug, and tried to squeeze the air out of Rowan’s lungs. The two continued to fight, with Bryan slipping out of a powerbomb, and then low bridging Rowan and then going for a tope suicida. But Rowan caught him, only for Bryan to slip out and push him headfirst into the post. Then got back in the ring, and Bryan hit a missile dropkick to the back, and started to deliver the Yes Kicks. Bryan then locked in the Yes Lock, but Rowan made it to the ropes. Right then, Bryan ran out and nailed Luke Harper with a dropkick, who had only made an appearance right at the end. He then drilled Harper with a suicide dive, but he got right back up. The two then had a staredown, and Rowan grabbed Bryan up onto the apron, and gave him an Iron Claw over the top rope. However, as he came down, his foot got tied up in the rope. Rowan couldn’t get it untangled, so he just kicked the crap out of Bryan while the ref fixed it. Rowan then nailed another Iron claw for the win.
After the match, Harper and Rowan were going to put Bryan through a table, but Roman Ran out to make the save. He quickly lost control, but he and Bryan started to fight together. Bryan nailed Harper with a running knee, hitting him out of a disucs lariat. Rowan then ran in for a third Iron Claw, but Reigns speared him before he could hit it. Bryan then got on the mic and asked the crowd if they wanted to see Reigns and Bryan kick Harper and Rowan’s asses.
Grade: B. The match was fine, classic big man vs. little man match. Bryan is a great wrestler, and looked great trying to chop the big man down. And the angle afterwards set up a fun tag match that I think we all saw coming. Should be pretty good, I’m actually really liking the run that Rowan is on. I like him being taken seriously as a singles star. Match of the night.
Kofi Kingston Interview: Kingston said that he accepted Lesnar’s challenge because he wants to be a fighting champion, and Lesnar is just another challenger. He said that it’s hard to prepare for someone like Lesnar, but he’s beaten plenty of big names, and he can beat Lesnar too. He said that he doesn’t mind the pressure, because he will beat Lesnar and retain his championship.
Chad Gable vs. Mike Kanellis: Before the match, Gable talked about King Corbin, and said that although everyone is making short jokes, his recent run hasn’t been a joke. As he was about to get going, Mike Kanellis came out and made fun of him for being short. He said that he was out there to prove to Maria that size matters. The match started, and Gable hit a belly to belly suplex, a Chaos Theory, and locked in an ankle lock for the win.
After the match, Elias came on the titantron, and said that Gable’s story inspired him to write a song. The song just had a bunch of short jokes.
Grade: C+. A squash, and a new feud. How efficient.
Charlotte Flair, Carmella and R-Truth backstage: Charlotte asked Truth where Carmella is, and Truth played dumb. Carmella then just came out, and said that they will win their match later, and that Bayley changed. Truth then tried to do the Flair woo.
Charlotte Flair & Carmella vs. Sasha Banks & Bayley: Carmella and Banks started things off, and I guess that the 24/7 rules are suspended for an actual match. The heels quickly took control of the match and beat down Carmella a bit. Carmella did fight back just a bit, driving Bayley’s head into the mat by tugging her hair. Charlotte then got a hot tag, and unleashed fury upon both of her opponents. She looked awesome in the hot tag and ended it with a big boot. She then locked in the Figure Four, but Banks broke it up with a Meteroa. Charlotte then tagged Carmella, who hit a splash on Banks. She then hit a few superkicks to both of her opponents. She then went for a pin on Banks, but Banks reversed it into the Bank Statement for the win.
After the match, Truth carried Carmella out of the arena as the rest of the Women chased them and the heels beat down Charlotte. Becky Lynch ran in to make the save, and the faces stood tall.
Grade: C+. This match was fine, but it sucks that Carmella ate the pin so quick. I thought she’d be next in line for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, but I guess this is fine too. Pretty fun stuff all around, and the post match attack gave us the Horsewomen tag match next week.
Shinsuke Nakamrua vs. Ali: Sami Zayn was out in Nakamura’s corner, and hyped him up before the entrance. The two started out with somekicks from Nakamura, but Ali quickly started to fly around the ring. He gave Nakamura a rough suicide dive where he nearly landed on his head. He then gave Nakamura a flying crossbody, but Zayn distracted him and allowed Nakamura to take control. Nakamura started to kick away at Ali’s chest, but Ali fought back with a high kick. He then put Nakamura on the top rope, but Nakamura pushed him off. Ali flipped and landed on his feet, and Nakamura went for a flying knee, but Ali caught him with a dropkick for a near fall. Nakamura then nailed the sliding German, but was intercepted by a superkick when he went for the Kinshasa. Ali then set up Nakamura for a 450, but Zayn pulled him out of the ring. As Zayn and the ref argued, Ali gave them a tope con hilo over the ref. He took out Nakamura, and Zayn yelled at him on the outside. Ali then chased Zayn into the ring, but Nakamura caught him with a Kinshasa as he ran through.
Grade: B. This match was pretty good. Lots of back and forth action, and good looking striking. They could have a good match with some time and good booking, but that’s not what this was. This was just another victory for Nakamura, and he still looks good.
New Day vs. The B-Team: Xavier Woods & Big E represented the New Day here. Curtis Axel and Woods started things up, and the heels quickly threw Woods back into their corner. The B-Team then started to run around the ring, and Big E ran out and tackled Curtis Axel. Back in the ring, New Day quickly hit the Midnight Hour for the win.
Grade: C. Not quite a squash, but close enough. Plus, this was just a random New Day win.
Fire and Desire Backstage: Mandy Rose was handing out magazine covers, and Sonya Deville pulled her away because they have a match. Otis got a picture with Rose.
The Kabuki Warriors vs. Fire and Desire: Asuka and Sonya Deville started things out, and they naturally started with some fierce kicks. Asuka quickly tagged in Kairi Sane, and put Deville on the mat with some double team offense. Mandy Rose and Sane then fought a bit on the outside, with Rose showing Sane her Maxim cover and saying that Sane will never look like her. Sane kicked the magazine out of her hand, and then continued to beat Rose down in the ring. The heels had the advantage for a while, but Sane quickly got the tag, and Asuka destroyed Rose with various strikes. Deville broke up the pin, so Sane put her on the outside. Asuka finished things up with a Codebreaker to Rose, followed by the Insane Elbow from Sane for the win.
Grade: B-. This was a decent match, and I’m glad that the Kabuki warriors got the win, but the Women’s tag division feels a little aimless right now. Fine match though, and the Kabuki Warriors needed this badly.
Lawsuit stuff: Shane McMahon was out first with a whole team of lawyers. Shane quickly welcomed Owens out, and told him that he had two options. He could go through with the suit, and lose a whole bunch of money while he was unemployed, or he could drop it, get reinstated, and not have to deal with the 100,000 dollar fine. Owens called him an idiot and rejected it. He told Shane that the whole lawyer thing makes him sick. He doesn’t want Shane in the locker room at all. He wants Shane fired. So he offered a match, career vs. career, in a ladder match.
Grade: C-. This promo was pretty much exposition. They completely dropped the lawsuit angle (which is fine) and just made a match. There wasn’t all that much that was new here, other than the ladder match. And that isn’t something that I’m particularly looking forward to. Maybe it’ll be good though. This however, was not. Just a whole bunch of nothing here, but at least we got some setup out of it.
Becky Lynch Interview: Lynch said that Banks may have the advantage in the Women’s Championship match, but she needed that headstart to beat Lynch. As she was talking, Banks attacked, and the two brawled in the garage. Banks smashed Lynch’s face into a chain link fence a bit, and we were left with the image of Lynch laying on the ground.
Overall Grade: C+
Pros: Bryan vs. Rowan; Nakamura vs. Ali
Cons: New day vs B-team; main event
