Lucerys Velaryon
 Part of my Unhinged Au
Lucerys chose to reside in Lumopolis, becoming close to it’s Govenor before finding a dragon for him and his children. With the strength of dragons, he was given a new position within it’s white walls.
The city built on a floating island called Azurite is the center of Aurorian civilization. With a powerful protective barrier, it is also the safest stronghold in the world. There is a strict hierarchy here; the Governor, the Elder Council of the Nobles, and the Priests of the Temple, who together, govern a large number of civilians. Lumopolis sees itself as the protector of Astral civilization, accustomed to dictating what goes on in the outside world.

Who are some influencers/personalities that inspire you style wise? I really like your fashion sense and would like to see more of it
Thank you! Although if you asked me to name an influencer at gunpoint I probably wouldn’t be able to do it. I have no idea what goes on on social media outside of Tumblr. My fashion sense is the cumulative result of 20 years of rock ‘n’ roll brain damage, by and large. But if I had to name some formative, enduring sources of inspiration: Jimmy Cooper (go watch Quadrophenia). Nash Kato of Urge Overkill. The Afghan Whigs. The Beatles. Lee Brilleaux. David Ruffin. Peter Case of the Plimsouls. Hedi Slimane’s rock and roll diaries. Arthur Rackham’s illustrations for Charles Dickens. The original Star Wars trilogy left some very deep impressions on me, especially Luke Skywalker in RoTJ. So did Van Helsing in 2004 — don’t laugh! Those costumes were sick.
More recently: a mean motherfucker in a gray silk suit. Take your pick.

I haven’t finished it, I need to add Hatshepsut but:
Saint Germain's mansion is filled with some of the most renowned historical figures in the world, but they're all men.
Here is my take on an entirely female mansion! (They actually have one mansion in the center of a few houses, so they're all pretty close, but don't see eachother EVERY day. Like a small neighborhood)
The Pureblood Vampire that started it all:
Sappho of Lesbos-known for her charming demeanor and patience, she acts as a mother figure to most of the people in the mansion. She has worked hard to make a system where all the women can feel comfortable, and has amassed a great amount of wealth over time.
Lesser Vampires:
--Hedy Lamarr- known for her beautiful face in life, she gets upset when people refuse to dig deeper than her looks to realise her achievements. She helps Sappho with taking care of her residents, and enjoys the finer things in life.
--Marie Curie- lives outside of the mansion, and is constantly working. Agatha made the mistake of trying to clean up once, only to be met with a frantic Marie looking for 'a very important paper that was right here!' Marie misses her husband very much, and one of the things that keeps her going other than her love for her work is knowing that he would be proud.
--Ada Lovelace- The former mathematician has been burned out for a while now, but has started a large garden near the forest. It helps her re-energise after a long day of talking with people and chasing after inspiration.  As a former countess, she gave most of her family's money to Sappho, and kept the rest for herself. She has a large collection of Charles Dickens books, and frequently goes horse riding.
--Yevdokia Bershanskaya- leader of the Russian 'Night Witches', nobody knows much about her, but she is protective over her friends in the mansion, memorizing their likes and dislikes to make them feel comfortable. Has a high alcohol tolerance, and has drinks with Hedy every few weeks. Elisabeth once saw her laying in a clearing in the forest surrounded by birds and promptly painted the scene.
--Ichiyo Higuchi (Higuchi Natsuko)- She lives outside of the mansion, and acts as a foster parent to many kids living in poverty. She is headstrong, and believes that there is no need for anyone, whether they come from bad origins or not to suffer. She is not partial to Sappho, for reasons unknown but is grateful for the chance to live again.
--Toshiko Yuasa- She experienced a bit of a culture shock, from being in the 1980's, to the late 1800s. Thankfully for her, she was already able to speak French, so accommodating to her new surroundings wasn't a problem. She has been spending most of her time so far relishing in the beauty of life, and helping Higuchi navigate France. The technology at this time isn’t able to process anything from her line of work in her former life, so she can't go back to her job.
--Agatha Christie- She is very social, and helps with the cooking part of the jobs. She still writes for her detective books, now having the numbers stand at one-hundred and twenty instead of sixty-six. She makes hats in her spare time, and gifts them to the residents of the mansion and the houses.

CAST
Lucille Ball (Maggie Cutler) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. “My Favorite Husband” eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.
Tumblr media
Clifton Webb (Sheridan Whiteside) had appeared with Lucille Ball in the 1946 film The Dark Corner. He was nominated for three Oscars. Webb had played the role of Sheridan Whiteside on stage for two years.
Eleanor Audley (Mrs. Stanley) appeared in several episodes of Lucille Ball’s “My Favorite Husband” as mother-in-law Letitia Cooper. Audley was first seen with Lucille Ball as Mrs. Spaulding, the first owner of the Ricardo’s Westport home in “Lucy Wants to Move to the Country” (ILL S6;E15). She returned to play one of the garden club judges in “Lucy Raises Tulips” (ILL S6;E26). Audley appeared one last time with Lucille Ball in a “Lucy Saves Milton Berle” (TLS S4;E13) in 1965.
Ruth Perrott (Sarah) played Katie the maid on Lucille Ball’s radio show “My Favorite Husband.” On “I Love Lucy” she played Mrs. Pomerantz in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25), was one of the member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League in “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3), and played a nurse when “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” (ILL S2;E16).
Betty Lou Gerson is best remembered as the voice of Cruella De Ville in the original Disney film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961).
Stephen Dunn had appeared with Lucille Ball in Miss Grant Takes Richmond (1949).
John Milton Kennedy (Announcer)
‘DINNER’ TRIVIA
Tumblr media
The same date as this radio adaptation (March 27, 1950), original star Monty Wooley arrived in Vancouver to perform in the play.
Tumblr media
This broadcast aired the day after the “My Favorite Husband” episode “Liz’s Radio Script” also starring Lucille and Ruth Perrott.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball’s good friend and frequent co-star Mary Wickes was typecast as a nurse due to her breakthrough role as Nurse Preen in the Broadway, film, and television versions of The Man Who Came To Dinner.’  She does not play Nurse Preen in this adaptation. The character is given the first name Geraldine.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball previously appeared on “Lux Radio Theatre” for a November 10, 1947 adaptation of her film The Dark Corner (1946).
Tumblr media
The first commercial talks about how Lux soap is gentle on stockings, like those worn by Betty Grable in Wabash Avenue.
Tumblr media
The second commercial (between acts two and three) interviews actress Joan Miller, talking about the Warners picture Stage Fright, and how Lux helped keep the costumes looking great.
Tumblr media
In the post show interviews, Clifton Webb promotes his next film Cheaper By The Dozen.
Tumblr media
The final Lux commercial talks about how movie star Hedy Lamarr uses Lux.
Tumblr media
The program presents a special address from president of the Red Cross, General George C. Marshall.  The American Red Cross was mentioned on “My Favorite Husband” and Red Cross posters were frequently scene decorating the sets on “I Love Lucy.”
Tumblr media
The ending of radio’s “My Favorite Husband” episode “Mother-in-Law” (November 4, 1949) starring Lucille Ball is identical to the ending of The Man Who Came To Dinner.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and Viv Reminisce” (TLS S6;E16) on January 1, 1968, while nursing Lucy, who has a broken leg, Viv slips and also breaks her leg. She says she feels just like a female version of The Man Who Came To Dinner.
Tumblr media
“Vivian Sues Lucy” (TLS S1;E10) on December 3, 1962 also has a plot that resembles The Man Who Came To Dinner. Viv injures herself due to Lucy’s careless housekeeping, and is bedridden. Lucy goes out of her way to cater to her every whim, so that she won’t sue!
Although the play is fictional, it draws on real life figures and events for its inspiration.
Sheridan Whiteside was modeled on Alexander Woollcott.
Beverly Carlton was modeled on Noël Coward.
Tumblr media
Banjo was modeled on Harpo Marx, and there is a dialogue reference to his brothers Groucho and Chico. When Sheridan Whiteside talks to Banjo on the phone, he asks him, "How are Wackko and Sloppo?"
Professor Metz was based on Dr. Gustav Eckstein of Cincinnati (with cockroaches substituted for canaries), and Lorraine Sheldon was modeled after Gertrude Lawrence.
The character of Harriet Sedley, the alias of Harriet Stanley, is an homage to Lizzie Borden. The popular jump-rope rhyme immortalizing Borden is parodied in the play.
Tumblr media
Radio critic Dick Diespecker was not exactly enthusiastic about this adaptation.
Tumblr media
The announcer reminds viewers that next week “Lux Radio Theatre” will present “Come To the Stable” starring Loretta Young and Hugh Marlowe
Tumblr media
The announcer promotes Lucille Ball’s new picture Fancy Pants starring Bob Hope.

rapper hc part 1
hi guys!!! so i’ve had this idea in my head forever and just didn’t have anyone to share it with but i told hedy about it yesterday and she scammed me into creating tumblr acc and sharing it here lol but when i went to write it down i  realized that i have a lot more to share so it’s gonna be just the 1st part for now, which was the only thing i had in my mind originally but now i’m working on expanding it.
i have a lot of ideas from the songs and this is no exception. this time the inspiration was NF - an amazing rapper and song writer. his songs uncover so much trauma and the things he raps and sings about are so real for a lot of us that you can’t help relating to them. NF’s real name is Nathan which also played part in this idea. lyrics of the songs are what the hc is based on so please listen to the songs i mention and pay attention to the lyrics.
ok i don’t wanna waste more of your time bc the hc is big as it is so without further ado let’s dive into it. p.s. it’s the first time i do a thing like that so im sorry in advance for any inconsistencies or the general drama:)))
TW!! (everything is just mentioned, nothing too graphic) physical abuse, verbal/emotional abuse, alcohol, drinking, drug addiction, overdose, death from overdose, kidnapping, torture (beating, skin burning, cuts – all of it not descriptive), violence, breaking one’s own bones, putting bastards to prison. also NF’s lyrics got a lot of triggers and cover very serious issues so if you decide to listen to some more of his music be careful with that. some of the things mentioned in the songs i’ve used here: depression, grave digging, guns, blood (in a non-violent way).
neil’s story: he grew up in an abusive family. his father was drinking a lot and abused him physically and verbally saying that he was nothing and nobody and would not amount to anything in his life. he despised neil’s love for music and laughed at him. he also hit him more when he noticed anything related to neil’s passion (neil humming some melody or listening to music in his headphones or trying to create smth). his mother tried to protect him but she couldn’t do much bc of her drug addiction. she overdosed during his last year in hs and surprisingly left him some money. when Nathan found out about that he was enraged and beat the shit out of neil so he would give him that money. to run away from his father neil goes to university to study his passion – music. he’s always had some kind of knack for creating music and rapping and now he could explore it more and not be afraid of nathan. he tries to overcome his trauma and even makes some friends (the foxes).
during the freshman year andrew and neil spend a lot of time together. they find the reflections of their hurt in each other and they find understanding. they share some of their past and their traumas; their view of the world and their dreams. andrew feels like he is falling because he’s never met anyone like neil. slowly there are soft touches and furtive glances but neither is ready yet to cross that line.
neil seemingly gets better even though there are a lot of hard moments on the way. however at the end of his freshman year nathan finds him and he and his cronies kidnap and beat neil up for Mary’s money keeping him in the basement for several days. this money is all neil’s got to survive and build his life so he doesn’t say anything and thinks of the ways to run. im not good with making up torture techniques and nathan is not so imaginative here but they still leave neil with scars on his face, his torso and hands (mostly burns from cigarettes, iron, cuts from glass bottles). by the end of the third day neil is physically and morally exhausted so he gives up and transfers all the money to them (he’s got a little of it left on his other acc) and they drunk on their win leave him in the basement. he breaks his fingers to get out of the handcuffs and gets out through the small basement window and runs outside. not long after that he collapses from all the exhaustion and blood loss and someone notices him. they call the cops and the ambulance. after that nathan and his cronies are put into prison and neil is left with almost no money. he leaves the state and a year later with a lot of effort, practicing and self-advertising he successfully signs with a music label under the name N/A.
andrew’s story: tilda didn’t give him up but was a shitty mother (obv) with drug addiction. andrew and aaron’s parents were divorced and their father didn’t live with them but tried to be there when he could. andrew started creating music as an outlet bc tilda’s boyfriends were physically abusing him and he tried to protect aaron from that. he and aaron were close bc they only had each other but andrew still didn’t share his trauma with aaron trying to protect him from that hell. of course he was only a child and couldn’t always take aaron’s place in beating but most of it lay on him. while at hs they became a band with the help of nicky and performed with their songs were they could and tried to self-advertise and wymack (he’s the head of the music dep at uni and also one of the profs) noticed them and offered them partial scholarships. they had some money left after tilda’s overdose (they lived for some time with their father after her death) so they went to get actual education on music production (at this point I don’t care how plausible it sounds, just don’t think too much about it ok lol)
the story:
ok so nathaniel once went to uni with the foxes (is there such a major as music production and singing or smth?) but at the end of his freshman year he disappeared. he was not very sociable so no one really cared where’d he go except for the foxes with whom he became somewhat friends. 1-2 years later he pops up as a new young and very talented rapper named N/A and he’s got burn scars all over his face and hands which he doesn’t hide so very intriguing right??? nobody knows much about him and that his name stands for Neil Abram so they take it literally as ‘no data available’ or smth (hedy also proposed “not applicable”!). foxes are like WTF we know that guy!! and wymack is also like isn’t that nathaniel??
Andrew’s become a huge fan of neil’s music. only renee knows that andrew’s been listening to neil’s songs non stop bc he can relate so hard to them and they just hit him right where it hurts. at the end of their last year they have like a huge final concert or smth and wymack organizes it to be held in one of the palmetto clubs. at the same time neil is coming back to Palmetto bc he is nostalgic of the time he spent in the uni with the foxes and he wants to escape his real life for a moment. he wants to visit the city and reminisce and he believes that none of the foxes really remembers him bc he was a nobody. I know the plot is getting ridiculous but bear with me
so it’s the evening of the gig and the students perform their music (songs, instrumentals, as solos/duets/bands etc). andrew majorly produces rap songs at this point and he performs in duet with renee with their song (NF’s “Can you hold me”). everyone is like shit it was so good but then andrew performs his solo song (NF’s “How could you leave us”). aaron is standing there and is a fucking mess bc he never knew andrew was that affected by their past and their mother’s death bc he never showed it and didn’t ever want to talk about his issues. (be warned this is a heart-wrenching song and it fits fucking perfectly). after that andrew almost runs outside for a smoke, trying to light a cigarette with his shaking fingers and thats when he sees a strange all covered up figure in a black hoodie entering the club but also cautiously looking over their shoulder like they don’t want to be caught. andrew ever the protective one follows him but loses in the crowd of the low lit club. 10 mins later there is quiet and the figure goes on stage – obv its neil. “Intro III” starts playing.
andrew is in awe and he’s never heard this song before so it must be new. he also never saw neil perform live so he cant really move bc the performance is so powerful and magnetic. *neils sitting on one of the disconnected amplifiers in the dark and the music starts building up. At 2:00 of the song after the words “I mean, what are you, outta your mind? 'Cause both of us will be, come on, let's go outside!” he pulls off his hood, his movements are fierce and aggressive and he’s almost screaming in the mic. at words “You had me scared for a second, I thought we were diggin' my grave” theres his fathers smile, vicious, crazy and cruel – thats how he remembered it spending 3 days in that basement. (fyi in the song NF’s talking to his fear and they go back and forth).*
andrew is mesmerized, the foxes are in shock, the whole crowd does not understand who that is but they watch with open mouths. the song ends and the crowd goes wild. that’s when neil starts talking.
“hello palmetto. this is a great concert you got and some of you guys are fucking talented. my name is neil and I used to go to PSU a long time ago so you prolly don’t know me but professor wymack out there let me come here on this stage and sing a couple of my songs for you. one of them is my old song, and another is new but they both tell my story and I hope you like’em”.
people cheer and applaud and after a moment another song starts playing. its the one andrew knows (it’s Paralyzed). the atmosphere gets way calmer but everyone is just as hypnotized. during the chorus neil is standing under the dim lights, head turned up facing the ceiling, eyes closed, his scars are illuminated. he looks almost peaceful but there’s pain and apathy showing on his face and in his posture. the song ends and neil leaves the stage. andrew cant make his legs move but he has to meet neil (he just realized that neil’s shared his name with them and it wasn’t “nathaniel” and andrew’s got so many questions).
he forces himself to move and almost runs backstage. neil is already leaving but andrew stops him by grabbing him by his arm. they stand there looking at each other, andrew panting, his body shaking a little, neil wide-eyed.
“Andrew…” he whispers obviously surprised by seeing Andrew here.
“Nath- Neil.” suddenly Andrew cant ask a single question. he’s got so many that it feels like a waste of time to ask them one by one. Neil looks down at where Andrew is still grabbing his arm and Andrew lets go off him like its burnt him. “You are here” he lets out on the exhale like he still can’t believe it.
Neil averts his eyes and puts the hood of his sweater on his head so that the shadows obscure half of his face. “Yeah” he replies and after a few seconds follows with hesitant “How are you?” It is a stupid question, Andrew thinks but he answers nonetheless with simple fine. Neil holds his head low, and Andrew can’t help but wonder if Neil doesn’t wanna look him in the eyes after his disappearance so many years ago or if he simply doesn’t want to see Andrew’s face. Both options hurt him but he doesn’t have the heart to ask.
the end of part 1. come yell at me on twt or here hihi

name: celestia
former name: isidora fairchild
species: sky sprite
faceclaim: luma grothe
media inspirations: evelyn o’connell ( the mummy ), crysta ( ferngully ), lady amalthea ( the last unicorn ), kida ( atlantis: the lost empire ), garrett ( quest for camelot ), merlin ( arthurian mythology ), hedy lamarr, sophie longerbane ( carnival row ), diana prince ( dc )
FORMER LIFE !
the result of an affair between a british expat and a local woman, isidora is raised in casablanca, morocco by a man just slightly too-old to have a child so young.
the owner of a local museum and a historian himself, she’s exposed to a great wealth of knowledge from within -- but rarely allowed to gain experience outside the walls of home.
extraordinarily intelligent with an equally gifted imagination, there is no myth or story she is unwilling to believe in, given the right evidence. her father was by all accounts excessively loving, but he had attempted to stifle the fanciful parts of her since youth. though she wouldn’t understand why until later, there was a local legend that the fairchilds had a generations-long curse placed over them, instilled by an object acquired illegally and placed into one of their museums -- he only wanted to strip of fantasy so that she would not know fear.
she wanted to see this rumour as nothing but the consequence of western people in indigenous peoples spaces, “acquiring” their relics to be put behind shining glass -- an exoticism of another culture’s sacred artifacts, which bore nothing so malicious or magick as a curse. isidora reminded herself that if any ill-luck befell themselves or the museum, it was far more likely the result of local thieves or vagabonds.
( when he dies in the museum under “mysterious circumstances” she’s not sure what to blame )
though she initially attends her father’s alma matter of cambridge, as a woman they would only allow her to attend classes, not graduate. as such she transfers to oxford, hungry for a degree.
her grades are quantified at oxford, but her passion is derided -- upon revealing her years-long studies into the bermuda triangle and her belief that an otherworldly force accounts for the decades of unexplained disappearances. she’s essentially laughed out the door a la that scene of milo and the professors in atlantis
so! without any family to return home to, a new degree, and old men to prove wrong, isidora purchases a flight to bermuda -- and you know how the rest goes.
fun fact: had a massive saint bernard dog named archibald (archie for short) and a white-faced capuchan monkey known as king charles (charles if you’re informal, but never charlie) who she misses more than anyone else tbh
CURRENT LIFE !
though the earth tempts her for some time, she’s quick to decide on her path to the sky. the monarchs or other sprites have little to do with her decision; she craves the ability to come and go as she pleases, leaving no part of concordia unseen.
with the years that have passed she has grown both more sure of herself and increasingly immaterial to others; she’s incredibly curious and in-tune with nature, and feels she knows the land better than most.
has her home in a cloud-built tower at the outskirts of caelum, preferring to have her private space in as much solitude as can be found. this acts both as a house and a centre for philosophizing and experimentation, as her thirst for knowledge has never been quenched.
though she doesn’t particularly care if the barrier is left up or down, the arrival of humans means exposure to new culture, to world news, to scientific theories she’s yet to learn -- which excited her a great deal.
doesn’t share the ego/elitism of most sky sprites, though at most she can appear hard to approach because she is always not-quite there, looking at you like she knows your -- and the world’s -- secrets when she finally turns her glance to you.
most likely to be found exploring while naked, probably.
CONNECTIONS !
companion. the best friend! the individual she’s least likely to actually flit away from without notice, though they accept her penchant for coming and going as she pleases.
human interest. inspired by crysta and zak from ferngully (if you haven’t seen this classic gtfo), i’d love a human who is both fascination by sprite life/celestia herself, and celestia fixating on this particular human to teach her about the modern world’s customs and culture.
complication. celestia both craves affection and runs from it, so i’d love to have some sort of spicy connection parallel to that part of her. if there’s feelings between herself and this individual they likely aren’t acknowledged, and rely on a physical relationship at the moment to connect them. i see this more likely as a fellow sky-sprite, because i like to picture them flitting after each other in the middle of bickering/someone that celestia can’t merely escape from by flying, but we could make any non-human fit!!
former partner. self explanatory, an ex-partner or ex-flame is always welcome!
provider. though she doesn’t have the innate magicks of the earth sprites to produce their alchemies, i imagine celestia enjoys acquiring materials or oddities from around the island either to simply decorate her house or attempt experimentations with.

Through the Wringer
Go For Broke | Previous
Obiyuki AU Bingo Mystery AU
“So let me get this straight.” Suzu heaves a sigh like a pair of cement shoes, nose pinched between a pair of fingers so long and spindly that if he moved them together with the other eight, spiders would start jawing on about his fine set of gams. “You just...gave her the paper.”
“Gave is a strong word.” Obi kicks his heels up, dirt crumbling right onto the placard that reads SUZU EASON, ADJUNCT. “I showed her the stuff, and she took ‘em.”
Right out of his hands too, so quick he’d hardly had time to blink. That Nowakoski girl had some fight to her, that’s for sure.
“And by ‘she,’ you mean our murderess,” Suzu snips, waving his hands. “Get your boots off my desk! This is-- this is an academic institution, not some-- some speakeasy or something.”
He slants his smirk the way he knows will drive his favorite almost-professor crazy. “They don’t let you do it at bars either.”
“Then I cannot fathom why you think you can do this here, to my very own desk!” Suzu frowns down at the worn desktop, running his fingers over the grooves of the hundred despairing adjuncts that came before. “I just got the thing, Obi, I want to keep it nice for at least a little while.”
He gives it to him, dropping his soles back down to the dirt. The egghead looks like he could use the break.
“And stop smiling!” Suzu huffs, brushing the clay and gravel off after him. “You just let a murderess take our only proof that Kain Wisteria may have died of something other than an unlucky break in Amiens.”
Obi waggles a finger at him “You’ve been hanging around that fussy grouch box and his rocks, haven’t you?”
Suzu puffs up, using all six foot, four inches of him to be just as intimidating as Raggedy Andy. “Professor Lata is a tenured professor.”
Obi doesn’t have the heart to tell him that’s not as impressive to all the non-eggheads outside.
“And he’s the geology chair,” he continues, as if that’s helping matters. “So his opinion--”
“Ah.” Obi fishes a wrapper out of the trash, the spicy scent of hot pastrami still thick on the air. “He bought you lunch.”
Suzu deflates, eyes skittering away from Obi’s grin. “I don’t see what that has to do with anything.”
“Seems to me like you’re taking pages out of his book,” he says as Suzu snatches the paper out of his hands, crumpling it back down into the trash. “Being a real grouch, I mean.”
“I’m not-- I’m not being grouchy!” he hisses, mouth pulled thin. “Do you know how much trouble I could get into for all this? You told me this would just be a little favor and now--” he throws up his hands-- “I didn’t even ask Shidan for permission! We’re sitting on a-- a ticking time bomb of a theory that you just gave to a murderer.”
“Oh come on.” He shrugs beneath the weight of his trench. “She didn’t kill anyone.”
Suzu’s as pale as they come in this city, so it’s a real light show when he gets hot and bothered. Which he is right now, if Obi can tell his colors.
“And which head made that deduction?” he grits out. “I’ve practically staked my career on this-- by accident-- and now our only proof is in the hands of--”
“Hey.” A head sticks around the corner, wearing a face so cute someone could slap it on a doll and it’d sell like hotcakes. “So this is where you’re hiding out.”
“Oh!” Suzu presses a hand to his chest, clutching at the cotton of his button-down. “It’s just you, Yuzuri. Can you tell Obi that he can’t just--”
“I’m not here to get involved in your lover’s quarrel.” Her hands hook on her hips, right where her sweater meets the swell of a decent pair of hips. “Shake a leg, mister. You’re needed down in reception.”
Suzu blinks. “Wha?”
Yuzuri’s mouth purses, sour, accentuated by the vibrant blush of her lipstick. Most earthly creatures could only aspire to be in Haki Arluleon’s league, but the department’s secretary certainly comes closer than most. “Kihal Guerreiro is down there reenacting Sunrise Over Okinawa.”
Obi tilts his chair back, mind grinding through his memories like a freight train through a signal gate. “Isn’t that the one where the girl burns down--”
“Sure is.” She fixes Suzu with a glare. “And it’s your fault.”
Ah, the girl’s got spunk. No wonder Suzu’s so stuck on her.
The aforementioned adjunct gapes. “M-me? I’ve never met her in my life! I don’t know anyone famous!”
Yuzuri cocks her hip in a way that clearly says, yeah, pull the other one, too.
“Okay, well,” he hedges, “I did see Rita Hayworth having an ice cream once. But that’s it, I promise!”
“I don’t care if you saw Hedy Lemarr dancing naked on Rodeo,” she snaps. “That woman is down there kicking up a real fuss because of you.”
Suzu goes whiter than a sheet that’s shook hands with Clorox. “You haven’t-- you haven’t told Shidan, have you?”
She barks out a laugh. “I didn’t have to. She’s down there reading him the riot act as we speak.”
“Oh.” Obi’s seen poltergeists with more solidity than this post-doc. “Oh no.”
“So you better get down there lickity-split,” Yuzuri tells him, “or else I’ll tell her where you live.”
She turns on her heel, real neat, like some of the flyboys did in their birds, showing off that long seam up that back of her nylons before she slams the door behind her, hard enough to rattle a diploma off the wall.
“Oh hell,” Suzu breathes, hands digging runnels through his hair. “Oh hell, I’m in for it now.”
“You know,” Obi muses, gaze lingering on the door. “I like that dame.”
Suzu sighs. “You would.”
Reception’s never been a quiet place; the secretaries are always typing away like gunfire, writing up the department’s next magnum opus or fielding calls that have them cradling their receiver like another appendage, but today it’s certainly, well--
Louder.
“Listen here, Mister.” The words ring off the walls like an air raid siren, spoken from the diaphragm with true talent. “My friend has been calling your office for days, and she hasn’t heard from a single person who can give her an answer for this.”
Obi rounds the corner just in time to see Tinsel Town’s rising star shove a paper right into the professor’s chest, blue eyes blazing with a fire that would put Dresden to shame.
She’s dynamite up close; an Amazon straight off the isle with the stilettos she’s wearing, staring Shidan straight in the eye without having to crane her neck. Every inch of her is as dangerous as the femme fatales that have made her a household name, but still--
He’s hardly paying attention to her. Hard to, when her shadow’s got hair so red it practically blazes.
“My apologies, Miss Guerreiro,” Shidan soothes blandly, gaze hooded with the kind of weariness only a chair could muster. “I would normally be happy to answer any questions one of the public may ask, however--” his mouth pulls thin-- “I wasn’t even aware that one of my fellows had undertaken such an investigation.”
Suzu stiffens beside him, knuckles white where they grip the corner. “Well,” he breathes, backing away. “That’s my cue--”
“Why look.” Shidan’s gaze snaps over his shoulder, fixing Suzu as thoroughly as formaldehyde. “Here’s my fellow now. Suzu--” his teeth flash as quick as gun cotton-- “why don’t you come over here and explain yourself to this nice young woman.”
Suzu gulps, throat making a hollow thunk. “Ah...of course, Professor Weise.”
Obi’s not the kind of guy that leaves a man behind, but as Suzu shuffles his sad-sack self into the fray, he finds himself diverting from the flight plan, circling right around to where a high-necked blouse and Mary Jane bobs worriedly in Guerreiro’s wake.
“Well, well, well.” She jumps, turning those big eyes toward him, green as any of the arsenic bottles in the lab’s cabinet. “If its isn’t our winsome Wisteria heiress. Funny seeing you here.”
Her mouth pulls thin. “Oh. It’s you.”
“It’s me,” he agrees, slipping up beside her. She smells nice, something floral and vanilla that clings to her hair and makes him think of cookies at grandma’s. “I gotta say, Miss, for a humble war nurse, you sure got friends in some very high places.”
She huffs, arms crossing over her chest. “For your information, we met long before she got into show business.”
“That so?” he hums, hiking up a brow. “Now that you mention it, she was in one of Kain Wisteria’s flicks, wasn’t she? That one about the South Pacific.”
“She was in three,” the little miss corrects primly. “But the one you’re looking for is Sunrise Over Okinawa.”
He snaps his fingers. “Right, it came out just as I...”
She turns, all question.
“Ah, never mind,” he coughs. “Seems like Wisteria sure liked her work, if he kept using her like that.”
“Mm.” Her face crumples with the shadow of concern. “He did. He told her that with a little more work, she could be his muse.”
“Hah.” Obi lifts his hat, scratching at the back of his head. “That man liked his muses.”
Her knuckles blanch where they grasp her elbows. “He sure did at that.”
“You know, I’m surprised he didn’t try to put you in one of his flicks.” He grins down at her. “You might not be no Veronica Lake, but you got that Judy Garland look.”
Something happens to her face, so quick he can’t catch more than a ripple of it before it’s gone. She turns to him, shoving a paper into his hand.
“Here’s your report back,” she says, the words trembling. “You might want to be more careful where you leave these things.”
She glances at him, and he hears loud and clear: or who you leave them with.
“Right.” He glances down, catching the coroner’s letter head, stark and official under the university’s warm light. “Hey, ah, if you’re having trouble, I could get you in to see my friend.”
The girl whips back to him, wide-eyed, staring like maybe he’s missing a couple of sandwiches from his picnic basket. “I...appreciate the offer, detective.”
“Obi,” he offers, giddily.
“Obi.” Her mouth parts just slightly, uncertain. “But isn’t he right there? I could just ask him myself.”
“Well, sure,” he wheedles, “but that’s no guarantee he’ll talk to you. You know these egghead types. Insular.” He leans in, flashing a smile that could charm the hose off a Hepburn. “But me, I can put a good word in for you.”
She hums, hose still snug. “That so.”
“Sure thing.” He nods toward the charlie foxtrot happening hardly two yards from where they’re standing. “I could go up there right now and ask for you. I’m sure he’d be happy to do me the favor.”
“Of course he would,” she huffs. “He’s having a strip torn off him from both sides. Thank you very much, Mister...Obi, but I think I can wait.”
“Not at all.” He grins so wide the Cheshire Cat would go green with envy, and he’s rewarded with a look so wary that Wisteria’s pet cop would slap him in irons just to head him off. “Good thing for you, Miss, I don’t have any shame.”
She blink. “What? No, you can’t--”
He steps right up to the Western Front, marked by Guerreiro’s sharp elbow and says, “Hey, Suzu, this is the girl I was telling you about. Miss Nowakowski. She’s got some questions about that report you gave me.”
Suzu goggles at him. “Ah, sure, pal.” His mouth pulls into a rictus grin. “I’d--I’d love to meet her. Why don’t we all just go up to my office--”
“No need.” The red head shoulders through, nearly knocking him off his feet. She might be a tiny thing, but she stands shoulder to shoulder with the rest of them like she’d the tallest personality in the room. “I only came here to say that I’m giving permission to exhume the body.”
Shidan chokes. “I-- I’m sorry? I don’t think I heard that--?”
“I’ve already put in the request at the precinct,” she explains, shoulders square she she stares them all down. “But I want to come down here as request personally that you do the toxicology report, Mr Eason.”
“Oh, I-- I don’t-- I’m not--” Suzu pants, hand hooks in his sweater vest-- “I don’t have the authority for that, Miss.”
“But I do.” Shidan stares down at the lot of them, his mouth in a thin line. “I think we should be discussing this in my office. Come this way, Miss Nowakowski, Miss Guerreiro. It seems I’ve missed a few crucial conversations.”

Recap (1)
Since I closed my ask box a couple of events have happened that I like to mention shortly.
First of all, Brian tried to diss Kells and although I appreciate the entertainment that this would have brought if Kells had reacted to it, Brian looked like a jealous ex and I don't think that Megan liked it a lot or maybe she did, because she likes to know that she still has the upper hand in this.
Tumblr media
Then Megan and Kells went on a double date with Randall and Lala and Randall seemed very excited about the date.
Tumblr media
I guess he wanted to get full publicity out of this, however Megan and Kells didn't gave off the best freshly in love couple vibes and Randall sadly didn't get to post a group picture from all of them :(. I already thought that the dinner didn't go that well, because Megan and Kells still looked mainly disinterested in their paparazzi pictures, which is sad, because I believe that Megan put a lot of thought into her outfit for the paparazzi.
Tumblr media
But after asking if there were any other pictures where they looked happier and reading this tweet, it looks like Kells was actually more interested in a conversation with Randall than Megan, which is what the picture from their dinner shows quite well. Notice how the girl from Twitter used "disinterested" as well to describe their interactions?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although Kells' head is turned towards Megan, because she probably made a comment, his whole upper body is still turned towards Randall, which means that he's actual giving Randall his attention and not Megan.
But my favourite moment so far, which is so absurd and ridiculous, was their short trip to Denver! They fly to Denver, go to a bar and while this is supposed to be a private date night for the two, it turns into a whole fan meet'n greet with taking pictures outside of the bar
Tumblr media
and Megan even took many fan pictures for Kells by herself! Isn't she a lovely girlfriend? :D
Tumblr media
You didn't ask, but I'll give you my interpretation of that video anyway :D. Megan is taking this fan picture for Kells and although she seems to enjoy all of this, Kells body language is saying something else. His hands are in his pockets (also in other fan pictures), which means that he's disinterested in the moment and tries to hide that he's feeling insecure. You can also see that he's disinterested and feeling uncomfortable, because right after the picture is taken, he turns his back towards the girl as if he wanted to get quickly away from all of this. Another indicator for that is his left leg and foot, which he put further away from his body as if he was already getting ready to walk away. Meanwhile Megan is, in my opinion, playing the role of the loving girlfriend, because after she takes all the pictures for Kells' fans, she goes in one big step towards Kells although she wants to give the girl her phone back and after that she wants to cling to Kells again like she recently does in Paparazzi pictures too. Her feet show towards him, she's giving him her full attention, but Kells still seems uncomfortable, because his feet show into a different direction and his hands are still in his pockets. And this makes sense, because Kells said that he doesn't like being approached with cameras like a giraffe in a zoo, he likely prefers conversations with fans and this was supposed to be a private date moment. When he had this with Hedi and walked hand in hand with her outside and a fan called his name, he immediately dropped her hand. He still isn't the type for PDA in front of so many people when it's his actual girlfriend and he isn't at a party.
Inside the bar the fan pictures didn't stop tho.
Tumblr media
Wow, that must have been a great date exactly how Kells likes it! ^^ It seems like Megan's team wanted Megan to show more affection publicly and both of them to ditch the paparazzi for a while to make everything seem more real and believable and Megan showed a lot more affection outside than before. However inside Megan didn't seem that interested in Kells showing her some affection anymore after a fan took a picture with her.
Is anyone else seeing how he wants to hold her hand up to maybe give her a hand kiss, but she seems to resist it, because it doesn't go smoothly up? I assume that Megan suddenly didn't want any PDA anymore, maybe she wanted to stay approachable to her fans for more pictures. Not that anyone feels like they can't go to her, because she's busy with her boyfriend! Tonight everyone is welcomed! ;) I don't think that Megan and Kells left the best impression there tho.
Tumblr media
Both are rich, but neither gave a tip? That's just rude! Especially because many businesses have suffered from the lockdown and could nees financial help!

80 Years Later: Careers Built in Hollywood’s Greatest Year By Jessica Pickens
The year 1939 is often heralded as the most prolific year in Hollywood, yielding the highest quality films released in a single year. Some of the most famous films of all time were first seen by audiences in 1939: THE WIZARD OF OZ, GONE WITH THE WIND, DARK VICTORY and MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON. But outside of these films, 1939 was also important to a number of acting careers. For some actors, they received a role that offered the big break they were waiting on, catapulting them into stardom. Others who were already more established, received roles that helped revitalize their career:
Tumblr media
Olivia de Havilland: Olivia de Havilland started in films in 1935, and while she had several starring roles, she was frustrated that none of them offered the quality that she was looking for. De Havilland often played second fiddle as a romantic partner to the leading man—particularly Errol Flynn. She appeared in five films released in 1939, but it was just one that was the catalyst for enhancing her career: the role of Melanie Wilkes in GONE WITH THE WIND. She fought for the role of Melanie, a stark contrast to the character of Scarlett O’Hara, and it ultimately transformed her career.
Tumblr media
Greer Garson: Greer Garson starred in her first film in 1939 — GOODBYE, MR. CHIPS. The film follows a stuffy school teacher, Mr. Chipping played by Robert Donat, who is disliked by most of his pupils. But when Mr. Chipping meets and marries Katherine, played by Garson, she softens him and teaches him to show more kindness to his students. Garson was reluctant to take the role, because the screen time is brief. However, her role as Mr. Chipping’s wife is important, as it transforms the main character. The film also launched her into stardom and she receive¬d an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress to boot. Garson very quickly became one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s top stars.
Tumblr media
William Holden: After two uncredited performances, William Holden’s first credited film role came in 1939 and it was a starring role. Holden starred alongside Barbara Stanwyck in GOLDEN BOY. In the film, Holden plays a violinist who wants to become a boxer to help earn his family more money. The issue is that boxing brings the risk of hand injuries, which would prevent him from becoming a fine concert violinist. The film made Holden a stand-out new star of that year.
Tumblr media
Hedy Lamarr: Hedy Lamarr acted in German films but received international attention when she traveled to the United States and starred in ALGIERS (1938). When Lamarr signed with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, she became one of the studio’s top stars and glamour girls. Her first film under MGM was LADY OF THE TROPICS (1939). Lamarr plays a woman of mixed race –half French, half Asian—who desperately wants to leave French Saigon, or Indochina. She falls in love with and marries rich playboy Robert Taylor, who promises to take her to America, but societal prejudices threatens to ruin their happiness.
Tumblr media
David Niven: As early as 1932, English actor David Niven played uncredited, supporting or other background roles in films. But in 1939, BACHELOR MOTHER offered him his first true leading man role. Niven stars alongside Ginger Rogers who plays a department store worker who ends up with a baby by mistake. Everyone –including Niven—believes Rogers is the mother and encourages her to take responsibility for the baby. After the success of this film, Niven returned to England to serve in the British Army. After World War II, Niven remained a leading man and top star in Hollywood and the UK.
Tumblr media
Basil Rathbone: Basil Rathbone was a star as early as 1930, with roles in top films like ANNA KARENINA (1935), A TALE OF TWO CITIES (1935) and THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (1938). Rathbone was often a villain and also well-known for his sword fighting prowess. But 1939 offered Rathbone the role of a well-known literary character: Sherlock Holmes. Along with his villainous roles, Rathbone’s Holmes is a character that shapes his legacy. In 1939, Rathbone starred as the fictional private detective in THE HOUNDS OF BASKERVILLE with Nigel Bruce as his Dr. Watson. Together, Rathbone and Bruce reprised their Holmes and Watson roles in 14 films from 1939 to 1946.
Tumblr media
Ginger Rogers: Long paired with dance partner Fred Astaire, in 1939 Rogers co-starred with Astaire for the last time until 1949. The two starred in their only biographical picture together, THE STORY OF VERNON AND IRENE CASTLE, about a dancing pair that took the world by storm with new dance trends. While Rogers had starred in non-musicals prior to her partnership with Astaire, her role in BACHELOR MOTHER helped her transition to new characters. Starting in 1939, she began a 10 year stretch where she performed in comedies and dramas — none of which required ballroom dancing.
Tumblr media
Ann Sothern: Ann Sothern started as a film extra in the late-1920s and slowly worked her way to credited roles and leading ladies in B pictures. After plugging along in thankless roles, the course of Sothern’s career changed in 1939. She left RKO, signed a contract with MGM and landed the plum role of Maisie Ravier in MAISIE. In MAISIE, Sothern plays a brassy vaudeville performer who finds herself stranded in Wyoming. She meets a cowboy, played by Robert Young, who begrudgingly lets her stay at his ranch. Sothern finds herself in over her head when Young’s boss and wife arrive and she gets mixed up in the wife’s extracurricular affair. This film spawned 9 other Maisie films where Sothern played the fast talking, unrefined dame with a heart of gold.
Tumblr media
James Stewart: It’s hard to imagine a time when James Stewart wasn’t one of Hollywood’s top stars. But in 1939, he was still up-and-coming. Though he starred in other roles prior to 1939 (such as VIVACIOUS LADY and SHOPWORN ANGEL, both in 1938), Stewart’s role in MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON solidified him as a star. In the film, Stewart plays patriotic but inexperienced Jefferson Smith who is appointed a U.S. Senator. While the corrupt politicians hope Smith will be a “Yes” man, he fights for what he believes is right.
Tumblr media
Lana Turner: In 1939, Lana Turner starred in THESE GLAMOUR GIRLS, which was her first starring film role and her first film where the storyline focused primarily on her character. In the film, Turner plays a “taxi dancer” who is asked to a spring college dance by a rich, drunk college boy played by Lew Ayres. Turner takes him seriously and arrives at the college along with all of the dates—including Ayres’s other date. Turner’s character isn’t exactly welcomed with open arms by Ayres or the other snooty society college boys and girls. After this film, Turner received top billing and was swathed in glamour for the next 15 years until she left Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1956.
Tumblr media
John Wayne: John Wayne had been appearing in films since 1926. While he made a name for himself as a silver screen cowboy, those films were low-budget Westerns that didn’t run much longer than an hour. But in 1939, Wayne was cast in a role that made him the star he is known as today: Ringo Kid in STAGECOACH. Directed by John Ford, the film follows a group of people riding on a stagecoach dealing with their own issues. Wayne’s character of Ringo Kid is an outlaw who has escaped from prison to get revenge for the deaths of his father and brother.
Tumblr media
Lupe Velez: Lupe Velez found success in Hollywood in silent films and early talkies. But by the late-1930s, her career was waning. Velez returned home to Mexico to star in LA ZANDUNGA (1938) and was planning on signing a film contract in Mexico when she received an offer from RKO to star in THE GIRL FROM MEXICO. In the film, Velez plays Carmelita Fuentes, a Mexican singer who Donald Woods brings back to the United States to perform for an advertising client’s radio show. Woods and Velez’s characters fall in love and the two decide to marry. What was supposed to be a standalone B-movie spawned a successful film series, revitalizing Velez’s career. She played the “Mexican Spitfire” in eight comedies from 1939 to 1943. The film series also exhibited an early representation of interracial marriage.

You said to remind you to write something with Vanilla Twilight and Tony
Tony was never much of a child for the science side of space. He didn’t get over the moon excited learning about black holes and interesting facts about planets, but what he did love was Anna’s explanation of the stars and the moons and everything. She told him every story she could, some even made up ones.
She told him during the silent nights, when the only thing that broke the sanctity of it all was nightmares, was that the stars were there for every happy thought you had. Every happy one you had? Another star added up. Tony would try to think happy thoughts, and Anna laughed as he said he was trying to make another constellation, one that isn’t as lame as Cygnus.
“You will one day,” she says.
She tells him about how when she was younger, she wanted to live in the stars. Anna touches her arms lightly, remembering something that Tony would never hear from her. He tells her that he thinks they should remake the constellations with their own stories.
They make one involving Anna and Tony having a picnic. She laughs silently as they look up. He orders a telescope so they can look at the planets to truly decide what name they should have. (The only one they don’t change is Jupiter, but that’s because Tony doesn’t like that one.)
He looks up to the sky and thinks of Anna always. The way her hair barrettes would be decorated in stars. She had a small picture of when Hedy Lamarr was in that movie, the one with her fancy gown.
“She was the best in that movie,” Anna says. “Edwin was fond of Judy Garland, but that’s okay. He’s allowed to have a less refined palette sometimes.”
“I heard that,” Jarvis calls from the kitchen. Anna looks at Tony and giggles.
As he gets older in life, there is less time to look at the stars. People like facts, and Tony has to learn more things about business and economy and stock and he really just doesn’t want to. But that’s the way of the world sometimes, isn’t it? There are many things one does not want to do, but there are many things the world has to do.
But he still remembers their talks of stars. For her birthday, Anna receives a beautifully embroidered pair of gloves, laughing as their “rose” constellation is designed on the tops of the hands.
“Thank you, Anthony,” she says softly. “I love them.”
They keep in touch, even through all the countless schools Howard sends Tony to. Anna will send him her delicious recipes for scones and soup and everything else, Tony carefully setting the notecards in their own separate box. He can’t let the other boys know about it, but he cherishes them deeply.
(And surprises many later with his culinary skills.)
When he’s seventeen, he comes home. There’s the Christmas break at MIT, and he’s supposed to be having a family holiday or what have you. Maria said he needed to be present for a picture show and then that was basically it.
Tony comes home with three separate bags, one laden with presents for Edwin and Anna Jarvis.
He forgets sometimes that they’re older than he’s always thought. Anna isn’t moving around too much anymore. But he embraces her fully and asks her to sit while he gets the tea. Usually, she would protest. But not this time.
They talk about his college days, Rhodey, and what they’ve been up to. Anna will be retiring in a month, which is news to Tony. But he’s glad.
“More time to stargaze,” Anna says, smiling over her mint tea. “Maybe I’ll make some more constellations.” Tony smiles, and says he’ll join her.
They share Christmas/Hanukkah gifts together. Tony feels the warm candlelight on his face as Jarvis puts on the Tchaikovsky record that is his favorite for the holidays.
Anna dies in her sleep one month later. January 24th. Tony can feel the stars dimming, the constellations reshaping now that their favorite is gone. He can’t look to the planets with their silly names that he used to.
Jarvis grieves heavily. He loved his wife dearly, so much that he would move a country for her.
“In time, there is always healing,” the words say. But Tony hates that phrase. He hates that there has to be time, hates that he still feels so torn. And you don’t get over a death.
Her starry gloves are still resting on her nightstand. Her rose water perfume to the left, right by the first necklace Edwin had ever bought her. There is a picture of her sisters and mothers when they lived in Austria.
When he can’t sleep, Tony goes up. He makes sure Anna’s seat is right by him as he talks. He tells her about how much full of it that time travel movies are. (He never cursed in front of her, and will continue not to.)
When he can’t sleep, he’s looking out at the stars. He buys some, to name them after Anna and her sisters.
As time continues, it’s easier to talk to her without feeling an overwhelming sense of loss surround him. He talks to her about how much he hates that man of the board, but at least he has a personal assistant now. He nicknamed her Pepper, and he’s sure she’ll be the one to stick around for the job.
Rhodey knows about his talks, advises Pepper over a quiet breakfast.
“He’s not crazy, but he’s talking with someone he lost,” Rhodey says. “Leave him be, he’ll be fine. He’s not one to jump over the roof or shit like that.”
“Got it,” Pepper says. She’s curious.
He has a little trellis and garden at the top of the roof, and two faded sun chairs. One has been repainted, taken care of. He talks to a woman named Anna, who Pepper finds out is his oldest friend and one of his most-loved people in the world.
Tony thinks about the stars in Afghanistan. Remaking his own star. He had wanted to grasp at them when he was younger, bring one down for Anna to see. She had laughed, and told him that if anyone could do it, it’d be him.
Well, damn. He was making the fucking star.
He remembers her warm hands on his skin as they talked outside, remembered that he would do anything for her and her memory. He wasn’t going to die in darkness, and he was going to do everything he could to make sure he at least saw stars.
There is another person lost. But Tony makes sure that he is cared for, laid to rest where none can disturb him.
“You’ll see her in the stars,” Tony promises to him, after the talking is all done and he can barely move. “Anna will greet you in the stars.”
He looks up, and hopes to whoever listens to this sort of thing that he gets out of it alive.
As it turns out, Rhodey’s odd fondness for geocashing has its uses. He finds a giant shiny thing, and grins.
“How do we know it’s Tony?” one of the younger lieutenants asks. Rhodey turns.
“No one else has such a stupidly brilliant plan as Tony,” he says. “Let’s bring him home, guys.”
Tony stays on the roof. He doesn’t meet Obie, refuses to. All he tells anyone is that he saw things that have changed him, and the weapons department was shutting down immediately. He saw something in Obie’s eyes, much more than surprise.
“Anna, you’ll never believe the star I have for you,” he says to the empty space. He feels a breeze ruffle his hair as a response. Perhaps a I know, love. I know.
He has to guard his heart, his star. He reforges it, makes it a better star. He builds an iron suit, like the one Jarvis used to tell him about in stories of brave knights and people who needed rescuing.
He remembers all of Anna’s stories about heroes who would go to the stars for their loves, for their worlds. It’s always at the back of his mind.
And then he finds out it’s the main damned role as he falls from space, nuclear warhead exploding in front of stars. He could’ve sworn he left a new constellation afterwards.
Heroes would go to the stars. He really wish he couldn’t be one.
It’s fine, until he’s fighting in cold conditions and he’s thinking at the end so this is what a star feels like. Endlessly cold. He’s thinking about stars as he looks at kids who have all the hope in the world, all the happy endings possible. He sees stars when he looks at Peter Parker, the kid who is so brilliant but so naive.
“Remind you of anyone?” Rhodey teases him over breakfast one morning. “He’s an awful lot like you, Tones.”
“I resent that implication,” Tony scoffs. Because Peter? Oh, he can be better than Tony. He can be the true hero, the hero who gets the happy endings and the families and the retirement.
Then the stars bring Tony something. Or rather, someone. Thanos. The guy who takes everyone away.
Mr. Stark please I don’t want to go I don’t want to go I don’t want to go–
He stops using an alarm clock. He can’t anyway, when he’s stuck in space. Near death. But at least he has Nebula.
He tells her about the stars. About how if you were lucky, you could swing on the moon and get star dust on your clothing. Nebula says nothing as he rambles about Anna and stars.
They’re running out of food. And water. And everything.
The stars, apparently, think Tony isn’t done being the hero yet. Or rather, being alive. There’s a woman outside the window, looking at him strangely.
Her name is Carol Danvers. According to Rhodey, she’s the biggest legend of the Air Force. Tony just thinks she’s okay, she just has weird nineties music taste.
(4 Non-Blondes? Seriously?)
But he gets home to Pepper and her fancy perfume, her loving arms, and Rhodey crying because “holy shit, you’re here.”
But then Steve. Steve, who was never there, who always likes to play pretend until he claims it was a reality.
I needed you.
He leaves. He needs to. He and Pepper buy a cabin that’s rundown. It needs a ton of work. Luckily, Tony can do this after a while. Pepper decorates the whole space.
She’s the one who frames the picture of Tony and Peter, the one of Howard gets dragged out. A reminder of time changing.
Pepper and him have a small, very very unofficial wedding. Pepper wears her favorite white dress, Tony says that she’s his wife, and they go to bed.
Two months later, Pepper comes yelling into the house with
“Holy shit, we’re having a baby!” Tony laughs as she nearly trips over her own foot, then immediately worries.
“You’re not allowed to be a clutz anymore, we grew a human.” Pepper’s eyes widen.
“Oh god, what if we can’t do this?”
“We can,” Tony says. “Baby, if you want to, we can. I know we can do this.”
So they prepare. They think about names. At first, Pepper doesn’t want Morgan to be a name. But then they hate everything else. And Morgan seems like a good fit.
Morgan Anna Stark-Potts.
“Welcome to the world, little star,” Tony whispers.
When she cries, he takes her to the roof and tells her the planets’ names and the constellations. He tells her about roses and stars and heroes. She’ll fall asleep again, but he’ll be there. He talks to Anna while she sleeps.
“Bet you never thought of this one,” he murmurs. “Me living in the forest with my wife and a kid. You told me I’d probably end up being a cyborg with my fascination for robots.” He laughs as he remembers. “I still miss you.”
He looks up, and for a split second, the center of the rose constellation they had made up just sparks a bit brighter.
And at the end of everything.
At the end.
He’ll be in the stars too.

Together We’ll Weather The Storm
Fandom: Timeless
Pairing: Garcy
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Pre-Relationship
Rating: G
Summary: A sleepless night gives Lucy some new insight into the man who's been holding her together for the past few months, and she gets to return the favor.
A/N: For the anon who requested Lucy helping Flynn with a fear or panic attack, to parallel the many lovely “Flynn helping Lucy with her claustrophobia” fics.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
--
She tries to sleep, makes every effort to close her eyes and lie as still as possible, hoping to drift off, but it’s pointless. Every time she can feel the first edges of sleep starting to creep into her mind, a crash of thunder jolts her awake again.
It must be close, she muses. The lightning and thunder are almost on top of each other.
Good thing they're in an underground bunker.
Finally, she gives in, throwing the blanket off of her and rolling off the couch. If she's going to be awake anyway, she might as well see if Flynn's up. He usually is, whenever she goes to look for him. Sometimes, she worries that he doesn't sleep enough, but it never seems to affect him in the field.
She comes to his room, half-debates knocking, just in case he's changing, and decides to go on in. On the off-chance he is asleep, she doesn't want to wake him. Decision firmly made, she steps into the room, and stops short.
 Empty.
The bed is made, the empty bottle of vodka still sits on his desk, and a book is open on his nightstand, but there's no sign of the man himself.
For one tiny, irrational second, she's terrified that he's gone, that he broke out of the bunker and left them all behind. All she can think is, "Not again."
Then, reason catches up with her. If he'd broken out, alarms would be blaring. Besides, he wouldn't get far in his fight against Rittenhouse without a time machine, and she definitely would have noticed him walking past her to get the Lifeboat.
(She trusts him, of course, but she can't bring herself to list that as a reason. After all, she had trusted Wyatt, right up until she had realized that he had broken out. Maybe it's herself she doesn't trust.)
Forcing a shaky laugh, she shakes her head. For all she knows, he just went to the restroom, and she's freaking out over nothing.
She considers lingering, waiting for him to come back, but her stomach protests the idea. Food, then. She'll go to the kitchen, put together a meal, (probably warm up leftovers, if she's honest,) and come back after.
With that thought firmly in mind, she steps out of his room, and makes her way down the hallway. She makes it exactly three steps before the bathroom door opens, and a voice stops her.
"Lucy?" He sounds dead on his feet, and when she turns back to him, he looks it. Dark circles underneath his eyes, hair sticking up in all directions, (very, very briefly, she considers running her hand through it, smoothing the errant locks, but it would be too much, he'd look at her with wide, tender eyes, and she'd do something very stupid,) and shoulders sagging, as if the very effort of standing is too much. "Is everything alright?"
Instinctively, she knows that she can tell him no, that she wanted to talk, and he'll stay up until all hours of the night, talking about anything and nothing. She also knows that tonight, he shouldn't.
"It's fine." She smiles reassuringly. "I was just checking on you." The look in his eyes is too much, far too soft and pained, and she clears her throat. "I thought I heard something."
Technically true; she heard thunder, after all.
He nods, slowly, and she's about to walk away when another clap of thunder hits. It sounds like it's almost on top of them, and she looks at him, a quip about needing earplugs dying on her tongue. He's... Frozen, for lack of a better word. His eyes are squeezed shut, tension radiating from every surface of his body, and he doesn't seem to be breathing.
"Are you..." She tries to keep her voice soft and neutral, but a hint of disbelief creeps in. Garcia Flynn, scared? "Okay?"
He nods again, sharply this time, and opens his eyes. The smile he gives her is painfully forced, and she can't even bring herself to match it. "Flynn..."
"It's fine, really, I'm just-" Another clap of thunder, and he flinches, eyes falling shut once more.
He doesn't try to finish the reassurance; it's painfully obvious that whatever he was going to say would have been a lie, anyway. Instead, he stands, eyes closed, as if willing her to go away. It's clear that he doesn't want her to see him like this, and a part of her is tempted to walk away, to give him the space he so obviously wants, but something stops her.
After everything he's done for her, how can she leave him alone to deal with this?
Instead, she steps forward, acting mostly on instinct. Wraps her arms around his waist. He stiffens, but when she doesn't let go, he exhales, returning the embrace. One hand settles on the small of her back, the other rests between her shoulder blades, and he traces circles on her back with his thumbs.
At the next clap of thunder, he pulls her closer to him, briefly bowing his head over hers. His breath is warm against her, and she leans into him even more.
It occurs to her that anyone could see them, and while she can't bring herself to care, the last thing she wants is for Wyatt and Flynn to go at it again, especially when the latter seems to be on the verge of having a panic attack. She pulls away, but takes his hand.
 "Follow me."
He does, of course. He always does.
His room has huge windows, and while the thunder seems to be bothering him more than the lightning, she doesn't want to take him back in there. The living room and kitchen are public areas, with nowhere to hide if someone wandered in. That leaves just one option.
She leads him across the hallway, to the mostly unused storage closet. He pauses in the doorway, giving her a questioning glance, but before he can find his words, there's another boom of thunder. His grip tightens on her hand, almost painfully for a moment, and he nods, following her into the small room.
Once, this would have been terrible for her claustrophobia, but now? She's been shoved into a hidden trunk with another person. This may be small, but at least she has room to move.
There isn't much in the way of furniture, so she settles on the floor, tugging him after her. She rests her head on his chest, over his heart, and waits. Slowly, uncertainly, he brings his arms around her, and she snuggles closer.
The thunder is muffled in here, she realizes, but it does little to help the way he winces, the way he holds onto her so tightly, she half expects to melt into him.
"When I was in college, I wanted to drop out of school," she murmurs, both to give him something else to focus on, and because she wants him to understand. Belatedly, she realizes that he may already know this story from the journal, but if he does, he doesn't say it. Instead, he clears his throat, and manages a reply.
"And what were you planning to do?"
She smiles against him. "Join a band."
He chuckles, and for the first time, he seems to truly relax. "You like to sing?"
Unpleasant memories flicker through her mind, of Hollywood, and Hedy Lamar, and looking Wyatt dead in the eyes, singing, leaping without a doubt in her mind that he would catch her.
"Sometimes," she responds, quieter than she means to.
Of course, he notices her change in tone, and nudges her playfully. "So. Dropping out of school to join a band. Clearly, that didn't quite go as planned."
In spite of herself, she smiles. "Nope. I was on my way to tell my mother, didn't notice the oil slick on the road..."
As if on cue, the thunder booms once more, and it's hard to say which makes him flinch. Possibly both. She rests a hand on his chest, silently reminding him that she's there, that they're both okay.
"I went into the river. I was... Trapped in the car. Couldn't get out, couldn't-" Against her will, some of the traces of panic that always come with the memory start to slip in, and she holds him a little tighter. "I thought I was going to die."
 "But you didn't."
Whether he's reminding her or himself, it isn't clear.
"No. Someone saved me. I never saw who it was, but I figured... If this was my second chance, I probably shouldn't waste it."
She considers for a moment what her life might have been like, if she had finished that drive. Would she be a world-famous singer now, or would she have given up that dream long ago? Would her mother have pushed her to stick with her studies, to continue the family legacy? Would she have listened?
"But ever since then," she finishes softly, finally reaching her point, "I've been absolutely terrified of being trapped in small spaces."
He makes a soft noise of understanding, understanding of what she's saying: She won't judge him for his fears.
Outside, the storm crashes on, but he keeps his focus on her, barely flinching at the next clap of thunder.
"It was storming the night my family was murdered." She wasn't expecting him to share in return, but she certainly isn't going to make him stop. Instead, she tilts her head up to look at him. He's staring straight ahead, eyes suspiciously wet. "And at first, when I heard the shots, I thought... I thought it was just thunder." He chuckles bitterly. "When I went to check... Well. It wasn't."
She'd do anything to take away the pain in his eyes. In that moment, she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that she would tear time and space apart to give him back his family, even if it meant he would leave her in the end. But all she can do is hold onto him, offering him silent reassurance that he isn't alone.
"Now, whenever there's a storm, I..." He shakes his head, trailing off, but she can imagine what he's saying. Being forced to relive something like that must be terrible, especially alone.
With that thought in mind, she makes a decision. "Next time, come get me."
He hesitates, finally meeting her eyes, and the uncertainty there breaks her heart. He doesn't want to bother her, to inconvenience her, to be anything but a rock for her to lean on. Doesn't he understand that she wants to be the same for him?
 No, maybe he doesn't.
She sits up, cups his cheek, and repeats. "Come get me." When he still doesn't agree, she decides to switch tactics. "Unless... This doesn't help?"
The change is instant. He softens, giving her an almost incredulous smile.
(And oh, there's that tenderness she was afraid of earlier. Now, though, it's a comfort, and she feels herself leaning in, just slightly. Catches herself-now definitely isn't the time-but his eyes track the movement, and she knows they'll have to have this conversation soon.
 Soon, but not yet.)
"Lucy..." His accent is thicker than usual, either from emotion, exhaustion, or both. "I don't want to... You need sleep, and-"
"You aren't alone," she says firmly, leaving no room for argument. He studies her face for a long moment, searching for any hint of insincerity or obligation, but there's nothing to find. She wants to be there for him.
Finally, shakily, he nods, and she smiles. "Good."
With that, she curls back into his side, and they stay there for a long time.
