🎃 𝗩𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 🎃
He was a member of the Nosferatu family. Yes, he was a real vampire. Born in 1350 in a humble farmhouse in Hungary, at the age of 26, he was abducted by a vampire from nearby Romania. The rest of his story followed the usual pattern: discovering his vampiric nature, avoiding the sun, and sleeping in cold coffins. It was the typical tale of a European vampire. However, he didn't achieve the same level of fame as Dracula. Trust me when I say that countless vampires met their end, buried under the stakes of vampire hunters while attempting to achieve the same level of fame. Our protagonist's name was István Nagy, a very common name in Hungary, much like John Smith in the USA. Everything about his life was mundane, and, quite frankly, boring. Being a vampire did little to change that. He was an average, run-of-the-mill vampire by all standards.
That's why he harbored a dream of becoming like Dracula, famous in Hollywood and in books. What a dream that was!
So, after more than 600 years of unremarkable existence, he decided to take a new approach to becoming the world's most famous vampire: the internet. He tried to create a profile on Instagram but was banned within two days for posting graphic content due to the excessive blood in his photos. He even attempted to showcase his talents on TikTok, but he was banned the very next day when a group of concerned American mothers deemed his videos of rooftop flights too dangerous for children. He tried to launch a website called WWW.THEREALVAMPIRE,COM, but some malicious hacker infiltrated the site, replacing it with porn and viruses. He attempted to start on Reddit, but the result was disastrous. Thousands of angry internet users downvoted and insulted him to the point where he had to close his account.
The vampire decided to create a Twitter profile because he was exhausted by the internet and began to offend everyone who failed to recognize his unique vampiric nature. To his surprise, he gained followers—first a few, then more. He continued to provoke, devising new strategies. He began to insult his city's mayor, then targeted various groups: Republicans, Democrats, minorities, politicians, feminists, the LGBTQ+ community—no one was safe from his barbs!
In less than six months, István became world-famous as the most toxic and trolling vampire to ever exist. With millions of followers, he was the most famous vampire on Earth and also the first to embrace flat-earth beliefs and vehemently oppose vaccinations.
Dracula? Just an old story. The real vampires were on the internet, folks!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I feel so lucky to be alive while Arkady Martine is working. This novella is full of the kinds of sentences we hope to write a handful of in our lives. And Martine strings them together with abandon. Heartbreakingly beautiful on the sentence level, with a plot that flows (and with so many of my personal favorite elements—AI, locked room mysteries) and conceptually innovative and provocative. This novella asks the big questions—who are we when separated from our home, and forget what we do to AIs, what does interaction with AIs do to us? The only bad thing I can find to say is that this is not as good as her last two books (which were on my top ten books of all time, so…). It’s weird and a strong flavor, but if you liked Memory and Desolation, you won’t be disappointed. It’s more gothic than golden age, more Shirley Jackson than Dorothy Sayers, but a classic in the making that I’ll be thinking about for a long time.

Brian Little, a lifelong resident of eastern Ohio, found his passion to write only a few years ago. While being a small business man, a musician, and an amateur artist he turned his talents to writing and incorporated his love for horror, the supernatural, and history. He drew his inspiration from authors like Robert McCammon, Brian Lumley, and Clive Barker. Desiring to share local history and legends he decided to write a book and have something original with a story and events that the reader would find refreshing. Turning his new found love into the successful selling of over 2000 copies of his first book locally, he also sold many more on Amazon. With the success of his first title and 2 sequels, he has been invited to speak at many area functions and was able to put together the first ever Gretchenfest, in celebration of the almost 200 year old local ghost tale
