Love Sometimes Takes Time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi guys :)
This is from a request that you can find here :)
The sentences in italic are saying in Spanish.
I haven't proofread it because I'm lazy today. But please enjoy!
TW : Maybe a little angst? Jealousy.
Tumblr media
Leila has always been a benchmark in your life. When you arrive in Barça from Levante, she was there, and she was one of the most inclusive people in the team. She was less impressive than Alexia and a little more expensive than Mapi. When you arrive from the U23 in your national team, Leila was already there too. It was natural for you to follow her and almost stick with her at this time. She was your friend, and you get along pretty well.
You were friends, only friends, but you have to admit that watching her leave the national team and Barcelona to go to Manchester was hard. She was your other half at work, even if it was only a friendly relationship, you missed her dearly. You had other friends, like Mariona or Alexia, but even if they have their eyes on you, they weren’t Leila.
It was when you were in Australia for the World Cup that your agent called you to let you know that Barcelona wasn’t interested in extending your contract. It was a little shock honestly, you had great results, but your agent explains to you that they prefer to save money for next year, when a lot of contracts well be negotiated.
You were with Ona when you received the call, and she was very uncomfortable. She just signed in Barcelona and were coming back home, but you knew it wasn’t her fault. Your agent told you that he as some of clubs who were interested in you, but you needed to digest the new.
You were devasted when you call Leila that night.
“At least you have other clubs who are interested in you” Leila said.
You shrugged. You didn’t know which one are on the list and how much. Leila wasn’t with you because of the Vilda’s story, but you never wanted her to be with you as much as right now. Being far away from her is hard, and you went several times in Manchester to see her. And her girlfriend. Because Leila has a girlfriend now. A beautiful, funny, cute, and friendly girlfriend. You can’t hate her, but you realize too how less Leila was touching with you. No hugs, no kiss on the cheek or cuddle while talking before falling asleep.
Which was perfectly normal. She has a girlfriend. You don’t even know why you reacted that way.
“My agent just sends me the teams who are interested” you mumble to Leila when your phone vibrate.
“Look at it!” she says happily.
You roll your eyes but open the message anyway, frowning while you read aloud the name of the different clubs.
“Real Madrid…”
“Yurk” Leila mumbles.
“… Wölfburg…”
“There is no way that you go to play for them.”
“… Kansas City and Manchester City.”
If Leila only made a grimace when you mention somewhere in the USA, her face light up when she hears Manchester City. You don’t know how to feel yet. You don’t know if you will be ok to be faced to Leila and her girlfriend every day.
“Manchester City is a good option” she smirked.
“I don’t know. Real Madrid too, at least I’ll stay in Spain.”
“You think you will be able to play against the girls who were your teammates for so long?”
“No” you admitted, sighing.
That’s how you finished in the blue side of Manchester, the right one Lucy said to you when you say goodbye to them. Leila and her girlfriend helped you settle down in your new flat, with Laia Aleixandri too. Thanks God she was here.
The girls welcomed you with happiness and you get along great with Mary and Kerstin. But you usually pass your time with Leila and Laila, having a little trouble to speak English at first. And then you just get used to it. You had a lot of time to think about why you always have a knot in your stomach when you are with Leila and her girlfriend. It isn’t as hard when you are with Leila without her girlfriend.
You feels like Laia understood or realized something, but the sweet girl never said anything to you. And you’re sure that she never said anything to Leila too.
********
You jump when your phone rings, feeling like you hadn’t sleep at all. Groaning, you roll on your side to turn your alarm off. That’s when you realize that it’s four in the morning and that it wasn’t your alarm who was ringing but that Leila is trying to call you.
“Leila?” you groan with a hoarse voice.
“Are you home?”
“Yes. What’s happening, are you alright?”
“I’m in front of your door… Can you open to me?”
Several minutes later, Leila is laying on your bed next to you. She’s fully dressed and after looking at her to be sure that she wasn’t hurt physically, you drag her in your bedroom. You went right under the cover, your body shivering because of the cold.
“What’s happening?” you ask again.
You are on your side, looking at Leila who is watching the ceiling, on her back. She looks tired to be honest, and maybe a little stressed? Anyway, something is wrong. You don’t come to your friend’s house at 4 in the morning without a good reason.
“Ash and I broke up” she mumbles without looking at you.
“What? Why?”
She came this weekend to the game, and everything looks fine at this point. They were smiling at each other, laughing and Leila hugged her so tight that you wonder how that poor girl could still breath.
“I don’t know. We had a stupid argument and everything like it all fell down.”
“Just because of an argument?” you raise an eyebrow.
Leila sighs and nod, still looking at the ceiling of your room.
“You will go back together.”
Leila doesn’t answer at this, and you don’t say anything else. You are tired and trying to be a good friend for her right now is hard for you. You are kind of sick about your strange feelings about Leila and her girlfriend. With time you realize that it’s maybe something more than friendship that you feel for her. And that pissed you off, because there is no way that Leila can see you like this.
You were on edge for days before having a break down when Laia casually asked you want was happening to you. Your friend wasn’t able to understand what you were saying, but after some minutes she could finally put the pieces together. She held you against her, stroking your back and promised you to never talk about it to Leila.
********
Leila and Ash get together again some days after and you snort when Leila told you. You received a slap on the head for an answer. It doesn’t last long, however, since two weeks later Leila announced to you their definitive breakup.
You were kind of avoiding her during those two weeks to be honest, passing almost all your time with Laia, Mary or Kerstin. The latter stayed sometimes to sleep at your flat after one of the team’s bonding. You didn’t realize Leila’s annoyed gaze, but Laia did. She didn’t say anything to anyone (except her boyfriend) for now though. She’s here to hear you but she isn’t the kind of girl who will try to interfere in someone else’s life.
She kept looking at both of you and she doesn’t know how much she will need to look at you tonight though.
You are with some of the girls out for a night and some of their close friends too. Your friends being only in the team, you don’t know a lot of people here so it’s always great for you to meet someone new.
“Chica!” Kerstin says happily when she sits next to you in the booth.
You were talking with Leila, Alanna, Laia and her boyfriend when Kerstin comes to sit next to you. Leila takes on herself not to roll her eyes, being grumpy almost every time you interact with Kerstin. But she will be even more after hearing Kerstin’s next sentence.
“My girlfriend takes some friends with her. And I need to introduce you to someone.”
“Who?” you frown.
You follow with her eyes the direction she shows you. Kerstin is pointing a girl some meters from you, who you assume is a friend of Kerstin’s girlfriend. While you look at her, your friend start to talk again.
“This is Mila. She’s half English and half Spanish, she speaks both languages fluently.”
“She does?” you ask with a smile.
Your English went way better since you start to leave in Manchester, but you sometimes find it tiring to always have to talk in another language than your first. Kerstin smiles wider and nod.
“She’s a football’s fan, she loves to play video games. She’s super gay and kind of fancy you. I really think that I found you the love of your life.”
You laugh softly hearing your friend’s excitement. You have to say that she’s pretty and the smile she gives you when she spots you looking at her is very beautiful. But she’s not Leila.
You cross Laia’s eyes and she smiles at you.
“Try it, what do you have to lose?”
She’s right. You don’t see that next to her, Leila is fuming because you just take your eyes on Mila again.
“I don’t know how to flirt with someone” you mumble, blushing horribly.
“No one ask you to flirt. Just try to know the girl.” Kerstin points.
“Or you don’t have to go to her if you don’t want to” Leila snaps.
It made you look at her and you frown slightly. You don’t understand Leila’s mood, she was laughing some minutes ago, listening to Moise’s stories.
“Nah, she wants to go” Kerstin says and before you can answer anything, she takes you by the arm to follow her.
You don’t hear Leila’s obscenities and don’t see the strange looks of your friends around her. Kerstin makes the presentation between you and Mila, and you have to admit that she’s right. You and she get along pretty well honestly. You talk, laugh and dance with her a lot during the evening. When you both got tired, she proposed to take you home, but you hesitate at first. It’s only when she assures you that she just wants to spend more time with you and that she will leave you in front of your door that you accept.
It doesn’t stop her from putting her arm around your shoulders when you both leave the nightclub. And that’s the last image that Leila got from you that night.
********
“So, is she a good kisser?”
“What?”
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t realize that Leila came next to you in the dressing room to change after training. You were still trying to avoid her to be honest, your heard her talking to Ash three days before on the phone and the knot on your stomach came back stronger than never.
“Mia, is she a good kisser?” Leila asks again.
“It’s Mila”
Her face is closed and there is not a little bit of teasing in her tone. You don’t understand where this comes from and that’s annoy you a little.
“Why are you asking that?” you frown.
But Leila shrugs for any answer. So you roll your eyes and finish to put your things in your bag.
“When are you seeing her again?” Leila asks several minutes after.
“We went to the cinema yesterday. We didn’t plan another date for now” you mumble.
Mila took you out already two times and you had fun the two times. It went well, she’s very attentive to your wants and needs. You definitively don’t have the famous sparkle when you think about her, but you are willing to try things with her if it makes you forget about Leila.
“Ow, that’s why you looked tired today. You didn’t sleep well last night? Shagging already?”
“Fuck off, Leila.”
Your snapping makes her jump. Even if you’ve argued a few times before, you’ve never spoken to her that way. You take your bag and storm out the changing room without adding another word. When Leila looks around the room, she realized that Kerstin and Laia were looking at you. And know at her. If Kerstin turn her gaze, Laia doesn’t.
“Que?” Leila growls to Laia.
But the blonde doesn’t flinch, still looking deeply at Leila. They are the only people talking Spanish in the room right now, so she doesn’t have any problem to tell Leila what she thinks.
“You’re an idiot. What are you expecting from her with this attitude?”
Leila doesn’t say anything, for once she doesn’t know what to answer. She knows she doesn’t have to talk to you like that and that you have all the right to be angry with her. But she can’t help it. But Laia is tired of your behavior.
“Leila you’re my friend and that’s because I will tell you that. She fancied you for years now, even while you were looking at your ex with dopey loving eyes. And now that she tries to move on, you’re acting like a dick. She doesn’t belong to you. Leave that poor girl alone or get your things together. She’s done nothing but being here for you no matter what. She deserves better that the way you treat her.”
Leila has red cheeks now, her body full of shame. She doesn’t look at Laia when she talks again.
“Is it too late?” Leila mumble.
“For what?”
“Trying something with her.”
Laia doesn’t answer directly, she looks at your friend several seconds instead.
“It’s not my place to answer that question” Laia finally answers. “But you better be serious about it Leila, or I’ll tell Alexia.”
Alexia has claimed the place of your mentor and protector when Leila left Barcelona and the national team. She’s still calling you two times a week and Leila knows that the blonde wouldn’t have a problem to beat her ass if she fucks up something with you.
********
You weren’t supposed to see Mila that night, but after Leila behavior with you, you decided that it would be a great way to change your ideas. Mila was happy to hear you and she proposed to go out to eat something, which you agreed with pleasure. The restaurant was fancy, but Mila was very relaxed, making you laugh when she imagines out loud the life of some of the people present in the restaurant too.
You drank a little too and you are a little tipsy when she takes you home. Your flat being in the heights of your building, you chose to take the lift. In fact, it’s the same flat where Ona lived during her time in Manchester, you just take her lease.
When you arrive at your door, you lean against the wall by your front door, looking at Mila. Despite Leila assumptions, you never kissed. But maybe tonight would be the night, it’s your third date after all. And you know that Mila isn’t against the idea, you just have to look at her to know it.
She approaches you until you are only a few inches apart.
“I really had a great night” she says, putting an arm right next to your face, against the wall.
“Me too” you simply answer.
You know what will happen before it does. When Mila leans to kiss you, the ring announcing to opening of the lift’s door sound in the floor.
“Y/N?”
You open your eyes and look over Mila’s shoulder to see who is calling you. You already recognized the voice, though.
Leila is looking at you with an uncertain face and you move mechanically to be further away from Mila. The latter holds a sigh of extreme accuracy and turns to Leila with a look full of reproaches. But Leila doesn’t see it, entirely focused on you.
“Are you ok?” you ask, looking at her.
“Can I talk to you?”
You bite your lips and report your attention on Mila. She shrugs and kisses your cheek softly and looks deep into your eyes before leaving.
“I call you later.”
You don’t know if it’s a promise for you or an advertisement for Leila, but you nod and smile at her.
“Drive safely.”
“I’ll sure do.”
You look at her going in the elevator and passes next to Leila, before turning your attention back on the Spaniard. You look at her for several seconds before talking.
“Come on in”
You let her in her flat before you and close the door. Leila already made her way in your living room, turning the lights on.
“Que passa?”
“I wanted to apologize for today. I shouldn’t have talked to you like that.”
You shrug, not really knowing what to answer to that. If she knows she was an ass, it’s already that right? You are sad about the turn in your relationship though, you and her had always get along great and you feel like it isn’t the same anymore.
“I hate what we became” you mumble. “I feel like I don’t know you anymore.”
“I’m sorry.”
You shrug one more time. You don’t want to cry but you know that if you look at her, it will happen.
“Hey.”
Just like Mila earlier, Leila approaches you and is only a few centimeters away from you. But it doesn’t seem strange or intimidating with her, it seems normal and comforting. Leila raises her hand to get your hair out of your face and probably get a better view of you.
“I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t have treated you the way I did, it was so wrong of me. Can I make it up to you? Please.”
“How?” you ask, frowning.
You swear that Leila looked at your lips for a second, before shrugging. You are still close like before, so you can perfectly read her eyes.
“Maybe we can go out, like only the both of us?”
You can’t answer because your phone rings on your pocket and you are pretty sure that it’s Mila. You take your phone almost without thinking to have the confirmation that it’s indeed Mila. She sent you a message and when you are watching, another one is coming.
Mila I had a really great night with you, you’re amazing ♥ I can’t wait to see you again 😉
Leila read the texts at the same time as you are, and you can feel her body tensed. You already noticed that she doesn’t like your pretender, you just don’t know why. Her jaw is so tight that you are scared that some of her teeth will just break.
“What’s up?” you frown.
“I can’t stand her” Leila answers sour toned.
“She’s very sweet and caring though. And funny.”
Leila snorts and starts to walk around in your living room while your put your phone back on your pocket. You’ll answer those texts later, when Leila will be gone.
“You’re wasting your time” Leila finally says.
“Why are you saying that?” you ask, frowning even more.
“Because you don’t belong with her!”
Leila is almost shouting now, forgetting her promise to Laia to keep it cool. She’s angry but not against you, but against herself for the time she lost. And for the reason that she maybe lost any chance with you. Well, she might be angry against Mila, too.
“So, who do I belong with Leila? I have no one else, that girl is sweet and caring, she’s funny, she’s beautiful and very interested in me. And I’m…”
“With me!” Leila cuts you with a strong voice, before adding in an almost defeat tone “You belong with me.”
You are shocked. So shocked that you can’t make a move or even think for now. What the hell is she talking about?
“Seeing you with her made me realize what I should have a very long time ago. I know it’s maybe hypocritical because I had other girls before, but I can’t stand the fact that someone else is kissing you or even touching you. That should be me, no one else.”
She’s looking at you, waiting for your answer. But you, you are looking at her, wanting to be sure that she isn’t joking or messing with you. You just have to take a look in her eyes to know it.
“It’s better not being your ego talking Leila, because I swear…” you whisper.
“It’s not”
She comes close to you again, like really close to you and put her hand on your arm. Like this, you can see all the details of her pretty face.
“I really want to kiss you” she whispers.
You don’t answer, but you lean slightly in her direction, and she get the message almost immediately. She closes the gap between you both, kissing you so softly at first that you wonder if your lips are really touching. But when she’s sure that you’re not going to back away, she gains confidence and passes her arms around you to kiss you harder.
You will have to talk a lot about all of this, but for now you only want to enjoy the moment. Having Leila for you like that is unreal and you want to engrave this memory in your mind for ever.

Well, well, well (Mapi Leon x Reader Part 1)
Ok so this is my first post. My plan is for this to be a little series. Hope you enjoy, though please stick with me as I get used to writing x 3.4k words x Hoping to generate some requests as well if anyone has any suggestions....
Tumblr media
Y/N Y/L/N….. the name everyone knew but no one spoke about. It was like an unspoken rule in the Barcelona and Spain camp, there were plenty of topics they were all very open about but she would not be one of them. The few times her name had been mentioned it was very clear that they didn’t want to talk about her, that she wasn’t one of them – not any more.
….
May 2019
Just a week before the team were set to fly to Paris for the world cup, the Spanish national team were gathered in the meeting room by Vilda for an announcement. However one person was missing, confusion spreading around the camp as you’d failed to report for international duty.
At only 20 years old you was the up and coming star left back, a record number of assists for a full back in the league that season with Barcelona. Newspapers had pinned you as this ‘classy’, ‘stylish’ defender that would be the player of the tournament. Spain had their hopes pinned on you to set the team alight that summer, give them that spark they’d been missing and provide some service for the forwards as well as helping the defensive line.
“Where’s Y/N?” Alexia whispered over to Mapi, the three of you were very close at Barca but they hadn’t been able to contact you when they noticed your absence last night and the two were starting to get worried. You was definitely the quietest out of the three, happy to observe from afar but those close to you got to see the funny, sarcastic side to you.
“I haven’t heard from her, she’s not answering my calls.” Though Alexia was close to the two of you, you and Mapi were inseparable, playing next to each other in the team you completed every drill together, always sat next to each other in the changing room and shared a room for away games.
“Hola everyone.” Jorge Vilda and the staff came out in front of the team and a select few journalists. “I wanted to announce to you all that Y/N Y/L/N will not be joining up with the national team and will not be taking part in the world cup.”
If you’d have looked around at that point everyone had their mouths open, wondering what had happened since they’d last seen you only a week ago seemingly fine after the final league game.
“The details will be staying confidential, but I wanted to tell you all this because of the obvious inconvenience this has caused to us all by her decision to no longer play. For now we have to focus on us and not let negativity cloud our minds before this tournament, we all actually want to be here and we can’t have people in the camp who don’t want that anymore.”
And that is where the tides turned.
…..
August 2022
After that day the calls stopped and for over three years now you’ve not heard from the two people you considered your best friends and you knew it was all your fault. They had every reason to hate you because you’d kept the truth from everyone and it was only now that you felt you could come out of hiding. It was clear that whatever they’d been told they obviously didn’t want to be my friend anymore, unfollowing me on all social media and blocking my number.
You’d never be able to thank Barcelona enough for giving you another chance, during the last season you’d been able to secretly use their facilities to maintain your fitness. You’d proven to yourself that individually you still had that strength and aggression from before and thankfully they’d seen the potential to get you back to where you’d been as part of the team.
For weeks, months even, this has been the day you’ve been dreading. The day you would be re-introduced to the team.
“Hola Y/N.” Jonatan said as he met me at the back door of the training facility before the rest of the team arrived, “Welcome back.”
“Thank you.” You could barely even get those two words out as you were so nervous, your hands becoming more and more clammy as you sat down in his office.
“So the plan is to introduce you to them and then you can join them for the training session, get to speak to them again.”
“I don’t think they’ll want that, but we’ll see.” You admitted.
“You’ve just got to give them time.” When you left you had to be clear to both your managers what was going on, asking for them to keep things confidential and give the team your sincerest apologies. Jonatan was let in on the information on your return and he too was understanding of the situation and respected your decision. “Let’s get you some kit and get out there again.”
Pulling on the kit was a very surreal moment, the shorts and tank top needed in the Spanish heat. Slicking back your beach blonde hair into a bun on the top of my head, you took the time to give yourself a little pep talk in the mirror. “Come on, you can do this. Just tell them…” No you couldn’t, what if they react in the same way, you’d lose your last remaining hope.
“Ready?” One of the physios asked, giving you a reassuring smile.
“As I’ll ever be.” Listening from behind the door as they all walked out.
“Ladies!” Jonatan announced to the group as they met on the grass, welcoming each other back onto the pitch for preparation for the new season. “We’ve already welcomed some new arrivals and I’m sure there will be more to come but we have a player who arrived this morning ready for the training session. We strive for the best and I hope you can see why we’ve made this decision.”
“You’ve got us excited now coach.”
“I hope so, please welcome back Y/N.”
You knew the reaction you’d get but nothing could prepare you for that initial moment, walking outside and being met with a row of shocked faces, but behind that you could see the anger in their eyes, the frowns beginning to form on their faces. Even though she was injured, Alexia was with the squad along with the other injured players and you could see the looks her and Mapi were sharing.
“What’s she doing here?” Ouch, way to kick a girl when she’s down Patri.
“Y/N has shown to us her abilities and we believe she would be a great addition to the squad. This is not up for debate, please welcome her back to the squad and then we can complete the fitness tests.”
The handshakes were forced, the smiles not even appearing on their faces. Of the new arrivals, only Lucy had arrived yet and she along with the other girls you’d never met could obviously feel the tension and kept well away. It was clear that no-one was happy to see you here, most of these girls had either played with you here or with Spain and they obviously had their opinions on you leaving. Even though you should have expected it, the complete lack of a welcome from both Mapi and Alexia hurt the most, neither of them coming over to you or even meeting you eye. But in your eyes you deserved it.
It didn’t get any better during the session, consistently the last one to be chosen and therefore had to work with a member of staff. If you ran alongside someone they would immediately make a gap between us, there was consistently a five metre gap between you and anyone else. You could feel the glares coming from every angle, the little remarks about how you ‘didn’t deserve to be here’, how you ‘looked way more tired’. You was expecting it to be bad but not this bad.
You were thankful that you didn’t have a spot in the changing room yet and could get changed alone but you mustn’t have delayed your exit long enough as waiting by the door were your two ex-best friends.
“Well, well, well….” Mapi gave you the once over, glaring as she met your eye for the first time. “I knew we were struggling at left back but he must be out of his mind.”
“It’s good to see you both.” You ignored the comments. If there was one time you wanted to break the silence over the past three years it was when you learnt of the ACL injury, knowing how devastated she would have been but also knowing, you would have just been making the situation a whole lot worse. “Lex I’m really sorry about the ACL, it must have been….”
“Hell, it was hell. And it’s Alexia to you.” She snapped. “Not like you care anyway.”
“I do…”
“We would have won in 2019 with you, you was the best and you knew it. We needed you but you had to be selfish. I guess we never knew you at all.”
“Please.”
“Save it.” Mapi said. “Just stay away from us, best friends don’t abandon each other.”
“Girls…”
As if you didn’t feel guilty enough already.
…..
The rest of the first week didn’t get any better, though you moved into the main changing room that didn’t mean anyone would talk to you. Occasionally a few of the girls you didn’t know particularly well would give you sympathetic smile but you knew as well as they did that they didn’t want to jeopardise their friendships in the team by talking to you.
“Guys I have organised the team bonding for tonight, first one of the season.” A woman that you’d never seen before announced as she walked into the changing room as you got ready to leave. “7 o’clock at the restaurant I’ve sent to you all, don’t be late. Oh and you all need to be there.”
“I can’t make tonight.” You interrupted.
“Cancel your plans, this is a non-negotiable, one Friday every month we all have to get together.”
Realising there’s not much you could do to get out of this one by the stern face she was pulling, you quickly got sorted and then rushed to get sorted for tonight. You vaguely knew of the restaurant they’d chosen and could only hope that this could help in the peacekeeping act, we all had to be in the same place and they surely couldn’t ignore you all night no matter how stubborn you knew they were.
With sorting everything out you arrived a few minutes late but you knew this would just further annoy them all even though there was nothing you could do about it, they always were anxious about time keeping.
“I’m really sorry I’m late.” You said walking in and having all eyes turn to you though there were only murmurs of a greeting. With being late there were only a few seats available and you didn’t quite fancy taking the wrath of your former friends tonight so you took the safe option on the end next to Lucy Bronze and opposite Frido. “Hola.”
“Hola, you look nice.” What Frido wasn’t much but that could probably be classed as the nicest thing a player had said to you since you returned and it almost brought you to tears.
“Thank you, so do you.”
“I hope you like tapas.”
“I think I have to being Spanish.”
“This might be a weird question but is the blonde hair natural? Or are you just another Mapi?” Lucy asked.
“Ha, no it’s real. Even though I’d consider myself like fully Spanish, I got the blonde hair from my mother, she was English. I always liked to think that Mapi just wanted to look like me, though I don’t think that’s possible with my lack of tattoos.”
“You could have played for England?”
“Could have but I’ve lived here all my life, I’m proud to be Spanish.”
The meal was actually much more pleasant than you thought it would be, you could see everyone further down the table still had that family atmosphere, you just had to be patient and hope you could get back there one day. At your end of the table both Frido and Lucy were making small talk and though the conversation didn’t exactly flow due to the obvious questions they had it wouldn’t be considered awkward either.
…..
Later on in the bathroom you was just washing your hands when the other cubicle opened and Claudia Pina walked out, she joined Barcelona the year before you left and you kind of took her under your wing, she was like a little sister to you.
“How are you?” You whispered, almost frightened that she would also shout at you. “You’re showing everyone how much of a superstar you really are.”
“You’ve been watching?”
“Of course I have, I might have temporarily stopped playing but you were all my family and I was definitely your biggest cheerleader, just from afar.”
“I probably shouldn’t tell you this but when you left they were all heartbroken, especially Mapi and Alexia. They used to get super mad in training, they were sad about you leaving but the only way they could express that was just by sort of hating you.”
“I know.” You admitted. “I deserve it though.”
“Why don’t you just tell us what happened, I’m sure they’d forgive you and we can all just go back to how we were?” She almost pleaded. “I missed you.”
“Oh I missed you too.” You said, pulling her into a hug. “Everything is just so complicated right now but I’m working on it. I promise.”
“They’d never admit this either but everyone was impressed by your fitness, you’re still the same player we all know. I can see in your eyes you’re doubting yourself you’ll prove to everyone out there how much you deserve to be on the team.”
“Thank you. You better go out before me, I’ll wait a few minutes before walking out.”
“It’s not that I’m ashamed to be seen with you.”
“I know,” You knew they were all just scared of the other’s reactions and being the first. “I’ll message you if that’s alright?”
“I’d like that.”
…..
Getting a taxi home in the middle of summer in a busy part of Barcelona is not exactly ideal, overbearing men are much more likely to be seen than a girl stood on the roadside trying her best not to get noticed. You were almost about to give up and just walk it even though it was completely pitch black when a car pulled up in front of you.
“Get in.” The one person you wasn’t expecting to be revealed when the window came down was Mapi.
“You sure?”
“I wouldn’t have offered otherwise. You’ve got 10 seconds.”
“Ok, ok. You always were impatient.” This was the first time you got to see her up close tonight, from the jeans to the tight low cut crop top and you could see her doing the same as you did your seatbelt up.
“You still living in the same place?”
“No, I’ll put my address in.” She started the car again and began following the instructions as you sat back. “You know I wouldn’t have been surprised if you’d have just left me there.”
“I’m not the type of person to abandon anyone, unlike some.”
“Maps….”
“Not whilst I’m driving.” Luckily your small house was only a short ten minute drive from the restaurant on the edge of the city and you could see Mapi giving it a once over as the gates opened, lights still on inside like you knew they would be.
“You always hated my apartment, said I had to move out.”
“Surprised you listened to me.” She chuckled though more out of annoyance than actual laughter. “You never did like taking orders.”
“Yeah well someone else pushed me. Plus it’s not like I had any friends who wanted to know my location.”
“And who’s fault is that?” She turned to you. “You was the one who dumped us all on a week’s notice, you didn’t answer any of our calls and then you don’t even give us an apology. Nothing, we went from spending every day together to you forgetting we existed.”
“What are you talking about?”
“The only person you told was Jorge and he just told us the truth, how you didn’t want to be with us anymore, how you couldn’t give it your all.”
Now it was all fitting together. “I never liked that guy.”
“What?”
“Mapi you knew how excited I was about the World cup, you was the first person I told and we went and drove to the beach sitting ice cream until it was pitch black. You knew my heart was there.”
“But that’s why I didn’t understand and suddenly I had all this anger about why you made this decision without me, why you suddenly decided you’d had enough and wanted nothing to do with me anymore.”
“It wasn’t like that.”
“Then tell me what it was like.” She raised her voice, almost banging her hands on the steering wheel. “Because right now it seems like you ruined our chances and now suddenly you’re back three years down the line and you want us to forget about it.”
“Firstly let’s make one thing clear, yes I did withdraw from the squad but I told Jorge to tell you all how genuinely and truly sorry I was, how if there was anything I could do to change the situation then I would. But there was nothing I could do. I told him to tell you that the ball was in your court, if you wanted to message me then I’d always be ready but if you didn’t then I understood how much I’d let you all down and I’d stay away. Especially you and Alexia.” You exclaimed, finally getting the truth out there. “Look me in the eye right now and tell me that you believe I would ever just abandon you for no reason, that I’d give up on my dream just because I somehow didn’t want to play. I was so lost without you why would I ever give that up if I didn’t need to”
“You’re not making any sense. Just tell me everything.”
“I can’t risk losing you forever.” You said, tears rolling down your face.
“I hate seeing you cry.” She whispered, her hands gently coming up to wipe your cheeks before moving down your arm to link her hand with yours.
Nothing had changed, the way her hand fit perfect in your own as her soft fingertips rubbed the back of your hand. Her tattoo covered hands a stark contrast to your plain hands. Her other hand resting on the seat next to you though you could still feel the electricity as they just grazed your thigh.
“I thought you hated me.” You weakly said, meeting her eye once you’d calmed down.
“I could never hate you, not now I’ve seen you like this. I hated the fact that you ran away, the fact that you couldn’t come and just talk to me. Whatever happened we could have got through it together.”
“I had to do this by myself, I should go it’s getting late. Thank you for the lift.”
“I couldn’t leave you like that.”
Just when you thought you’d made it, when you thought you’d got through the whole evening and it had gone as well as you could possibly think it would do. You saw the door open and one big figure and one little figure in their arms come into the light, both with seemingly very distressed looks on their faces as you caught their eye.
“Shit.” You whispered, opening the door and almost sprinting over taking the small crying figure in your arms, immediately forgetting about everyone around you as your sole focus was on the toddler in your arms. “Shh baby.”
“Mama! Mama!”
“I know I’m here now I promise.”
“Mama?”
Shit again.

I just hate to see them do so well with all that had happened in the last few months but I’m happy for the barcelona girls cos they get to play
I know what you mean. I can’t bring myself to want them to lose for that reason. I won’t let my hate for Jorge Vilda cloud my love for the Barca girls + Jenni.

first answer: i'm better than i thought i would be, to be honest. hearing that it's only 6-8 months helped and i am just as pissed as you when it comes to vilda, but despite that, i think spain played really well. only problem, as usual, was the finishing. also, i haven't seen who got mvp yet but if it's not ona, i'll sue. what's also lightened my mood is how i'm currently slamming everyone in the family group chat. they were obviously all rooting for germany and i had to teach them a thing or two about what good football looks like, but, of course, we didn't score and they certainly got a point with that. either way, it's definitely fun.
and yes, i am still in the uk, still in wales and i've seen like 4 catalan flags here already. i'll be leaving on friday though, going back to london to watch six the musical, of course the spain vs denmark game as well and then it's back to germany.
honestly, i hope the holiday can take your mind off football for at least a bit and i hope the packing and preparing isn't getting too much :)
btw, is the holiday the one to germany or a different one?
- German Anon
Mvp was of course someone from Germany, because this stupid little awards always go to one from the winning team or to a big name (cought Miedema cought—> don’t hate me, I like her, but let’s be real: she was not mvp of this specific game). Well besides that I need to admit, that i didn’t liked our match. I don’t think Spain played well…
Your holidays sound very good and full of exiting events!! Love this for you. You need to tell me about the atmosphere in the stadium at the Spain match! Do you have a trikot?
This upcoming holiday will be the netherland/Berlin holiday! Also german anon… what’s about your plan with showing your tumblr name? ;)

My thoughts as I watch SKAM season 3, episode 1:
- oh he’s gay. I know he’s gay.
- NOT ELEVEN.
- is he wearing a Jesus shirt at a party? Tell me that’s not a fucking Jesus shirt.
- WHY IS HIS MATTRESS ON THE FLOOR?!
- why are they dissing museums that hard? Museums are fun.
- no. Darling. Baby. My sweet boy. You’re excuse isn’t working. Let the drugs go. You’re not getting them back.
- why are you staring at her boobs?
- I hate vilda. I have no reason. I just fucking do.
- what is Kosegruppa? I feel like I missed something.
- I DONT LIKE HER BUT SHES TALKING SO GET OFF YOUR PHONE
- boy dipped lmao
- why play a loud game if you’re trying to hide? That’s seems counterproductive bud
- Oop that was kinda fruity
- “join me outside” OH SO YOU KISS BOYS THEN? OK.
- this poor girl. This poor girl. Baby he’s not into you. You offered to suck his dick and he flinched. It’s not gonna happen.
- well this is an unhappy trio
This were my thoughts for episode one. Stick around to seem more lmao.

Damaris has been playing very well. Should be an automatic call up for Spain but the rfef hate her and Vilda doesn't watch her games. Honestly would rather she go to the Netherlands, they need her more and it would suit her style better
That's good to hear but the midfield for Spain is filled to the brim with talent and knowing the hatred the rfef has for basque players, she's towards the middle of the list of players they would willingly call up. I wouldn't mind the Netherlands as she has a strong family connection and they would put her to good use.

Olga and Ona should be starting full backs and if you say Olga doesn't have enough experience well he needs to give it to her before the Euros and the federation hates Ona so she doesn't start. Very annoying. (Ona should be back at Barca for the Euros so hopefully she'll start)
I 100% agree! and I think that’s one of my biggest pet peeves with coaches is when they say players don’t have enough experience but then never call them up or give them experience in games. I think games are also the best way to gain experience, especially in friendlies like the games coming up. these games don’t mean anything yet vilda will probably play the same lineup for both of them, although I’m really hoping he doesn’t. I really don’t know what more ona can do either. like she’s won player of the season in a new league where she didn’t speak the language at first and had to adapt. but because she doesn’t play in spain she doesn’t start even though she’s miles better than any other options it’s so frustrating. same with olga she’s been proving herself in the league yet vilda seems to want to just stay with his older fullbacks and not integrate players like olga and ona into the team before the euros.

If we look at Ona Vilda actually seemed to like her and started her vs Japan and USA in 2020 SBC and then as soon as she moved to United he stopped playing her in the big games and even in a lot of the "easier" games. That to me is all about the federation. Vilda loving players like Coredera and Leila is just favoritism but I do have some hope after he called Olga in and actually subbed her on before Coredera. He NEEDS to call Maite in though. She should be a consistent player that's called up. I would even say call Pina and Medina (when healthy).
Yeah, that’s why I say this goes beyond his quirks as a coach. Ona is the kind of player that works really well with Spain, blends perfectly already, so her not being used is suspicious. Had she not been playing well you’d understand but she has been amazing so there’s definitely something there. I’m sure he’s going to call them up eventually. At the end of the day he can only call up so many and someone is always going to be left out, but they deserve it for sure.
Also now you mention Leila, it’s funny but the other day there was this ‘unpopular opinions about fcb femeni’ tweet going around and I can’t believe the amount of people saying ‘well, I think Leila isn’t that bad and it makes sense to me that Lluis uses her because even if Mel’s footwork is better, Leila is faster’ or something to that effect. It made me laugh cause all you usually get on twitter is hate towards her. Sorry, this just reminded me of that xD I just wasn’t expecting that many people saying that as an unpopular take.
