Round 1A.8
Propaganda under the cut
Fuya Okudaira: Fuya plays the character Esper Robin on his TV show, but behind the scenes he’s dealing with major confidence issues where he think everyone wants him to be Esper Robin. His mother, the producer and an actor on the show, only worsens her son’s confidence when she doesn’t like him make friends due to him needing to be Esper Robin for the people. This problem gets so bad that he gets possessed by yugioh cards, but all is resolved.
Hibiki Wataru: "literal actor. part of drama club. wears masks physically and emotionally. incredible amounts of gender. gay. kind of insane. what else would you want from a fictional character."

So after much digging and research, I’ve found the spider I was looking for! But you’re probably wondering why, when I’m supposed to be working on my ygo milf tournament, that I was spending so much time looking for a spider. Well I have a good explanation for that!
Okay, maybe good is relative here, but hear me out: I was distracted okay.
Since I’ve been working on a bug au on the side for a while now, I was pretty curious to see if I could find a real life equivalent to the spider that appears in Yugioh Zexal, episode 7: right in front of Fuya’s face, sending him cowering under a shelf.
As you can see here, the spider is mostly black with yellow stripes on its legs and abdomen, and I desperately wanted to see if this thing was based off anything real or not. Turns out, there is a spider that matches this design pretty closely if you ask me!
Argiope amoena, also known as kogane-gumo, or locally referred to in Japan as wrestling spiders used in spider fights (think dog fights, but with spiders). This one doesn’t really look to have the leg bands, but I was able to find another pic that shows them off.
How bad is the bite? Not very, according to their wiki page. It's comparable to a bee sting, which definitely do hurt, but it could be way worse. They're not likely to bite humans unless grabbed in an aggressive manner, in which case they'd only be trying to defend themselves. Since they don't really go out of their way to attack people, I'd say Fuya was relatively safe here... And so was Yuma for handling it so gently.
Seriously, this boy has no fear. I know it’s a pretty harmless spider, all things considered, but still... Picking one up barehanded would just squick me out too much.

I... I can’t believe it
Yugioh did a “forgiving the parent” narrative correctly.
AND IT WAS MINOR CHARACTERS IN EARLY ZEXAL
I think I must’ve missed this episode the first time I saw Zexal because it’s surprisingly really well done for such a minor duel. Yes, it’s a silly concept of a child actor being possessed by a card but when you put that aside, it’s an honestly really nice narrative about a kid cracking under the pressure his mother put on him and the mother seeing this and apologising to her son, saying all he needs to to do is be himself and that she’s sorry for putting so much pressure on him. It feels very genuine and wholesome.
Also, this reconciliation had such an effect on them that it made its way into the narrative of one of the episodes they made where the son hugs the evil out of his mother:
Which is equal parts silly and adorable.

Day 22: Snow
@zexalmonth
["He's very...affectionate." Fuya said as the orange cat made itself comfortable on his shoulder.
Cathy let out a little giggle. "Yes, Louie loves to be pampered."]
They're both shy dorks, okay? I think they would made good friends.

You know what? I think the Cursed Content Factory has been beaten at its own game.
We didn’t innovate, lobby, or network as much as this website, which clearly provides superior products.
How can I, an innocent small business, go against the likes of this magnificence?
Or these wonderfully labeled products? Oh, Yuma Tsukumo, oh, Yuma Tsukumo, your true 2000s throwback phase is showing.
Honorable mention towards the yassified Rio wigs. Listen, I wouldn’t mind a Rio drawn with hair like this. Looking like an anime mean girl telling me my eyeballs are all over the place and that my green tentacles were so 2010.
Listen, I’ve seen a Kaninja, Dr. Faker, the shogi man from the manga, Kurage and even a Heartfly cosplay. But the time has now come for a Miss Mizuki cosplay.
Honorable mention to the Christopher cosplay set.
All in all, a wonderful place to lose your credit card information and get products that look similar but not as good as the most likely stolen and uncredited sample photographs. 10/10, very cursed place. It is the real Cursed Content Factory.
**In all seriousness: From what I have read, this is a website similar to Wish but for plushies and cosplay products. There have been various mixed reviews, most of them on the negative side about the quality of the completed product. Refunds are incredibly difficult to obtain and customer service is not the best. If you would like to seriously cosplay instead of wanting to create an intentionally CURSED outfit, I suggest you look somewhere else. Or not. Maybe your experience will be different.
