I like frightshipping/wrapshipping because I think in between TKB's serious possessiveness, violent tendencies, and the fact that telling him he can't have something only makes him want it more vs. Joey being unable to just say no to a fight/challenge and his stubborness and wish for self-determination at any cost no matter how impractical it simply would be the most stereotypically homoerotic wrestling fist-fighting type of relationship possible. Would make a great boxing match. Why are you staring at another heavily muscled yet beautiful young man hm? You wanna kissy? You wanna kissy don't you. Unfortunately they do not possess the maturity for kissies so threats of violence and adrenaline pumping will have to suffice. Also Joey being freaked out by ghosts obviously adds a bit of humor in there but I think it would be made up for the fact that he is giving Bakura a headache by being unable to die or run away no matter how freaked out he is (read: Bakura is incredibly charmed by this and finds it wildly attractive. like a bird of paradise watching their mate do a weird little dance and build a nest out of discarded zipties. Confusing and somewhat pathetic yet still very handsome for some reason).

Anyways Yami Bakura or TKB should have had a "we are the same kind of person" speech with jounouchi about how they're both scrappers who'll go to intense lengths for their allies or something and while Jou would obviously end up going "im nothing like you because i fight fair and blah blah blah" even though jou totally fights dirty sometimes I still need it for intensely homosexual reasons

♥ With his own body, the ex-spirit was feeling exceedingly, well, scrawny. Not sure of what else to do, Jou grabbed a ball to play with on the way to work one day. To the surprise of both of them, playing pick-up soccer (football for you lol) became a bit of a fun past time for them. It had everything they both wanted - exercise, competition, and a chance to see the other sweaty and occasionally shirtless.

♥ Bakura is a bit of an ass in that he’ll occasionally swap out cards from Jounouchi’s regular side deck for some of his scarier ones without telling him beforehand. They’re never bad cards - in fact, they’re pretty excellent and usually combine well with his deck and offers him some unexpected flexibility - but honest, was it not fair to warn a guy that there would be an undead version of his beloved dragon waiting for him between duels?

♥ Without warning, Bakura lopped off most of his hair one day so it fell just above his shoulders. Jounouchi hadn’t realized that he had liked the long hair so much until it was gone, and they both found him occasionally reaching to play with the ends of a long mane that no longer existed. There were no words shared between the two, but Bakura’s hair eventually reached just above his shoulder blades before he started maintaining it again.

Ok, so canonically, Joey and Mai V. have a weird “thing” going on but, that is a bit icky cause of the, ahem, the age difference of eight years. Anzu/ Téa would be more likely, but there would be a disconnect. In my AU verse, things between these three remained platonic as they struggled to survive in the hellscape of Domino, as they have to rely on each other and grow as individuals. Due to the need for survival, a touchy-feely character like Joey would naturally be touch-starved, but romance would be far from the top of his list unless you considered taking down the bourgeoisie an ideal date.

 Since I’m relatively new to the fandom, I’m still feeling things out character-wise, but here is a list of ships I would find/already find interesting with my muse. They may or may not work due to my verse, but that doesn’t stop me. I can just, “modify” the timeline, hehe. All other muses must be of age (18+) though, and I despise incestual ships.

- Devotionshipping || Joey x Anzu/Téa=> Joey, the once pervert, redeemed

- Buddyshipping ||  Tristan/Honda x Joey=> bros before hoes, heh 

- Fade/Frightshipping (Yami Marik/Yami Bakura)=>  would be interesting, but wouldn’t really be a ship, but a hate/spite-fueled bromance based upon a borderline nihilistic Joey. Not really sure how this would happen to begin with, hnng.

- Irateshipping || Malik/Marik x Joey => not sure how this one would either, but I’m open to it. 

Puppyshipping || Seto Kaiba x Joey=> unlikely, more of an awkward, strict bromance/cooperation

Toughshipping || Bandit Keith x Joey=> definitely a testosterone-fueled bromance, age-difference makes this iffy. lots of yelling.

Wishshipping || Joey x Yugi Mutou => soft;; feels all around, the most likely I think, but, angst magnet

*I may be open to others, but these are the most I'm aware of.

Could you imagine if yugioh played off Jou and the Yami crew as like, potential futures for him? a martyr like Atem, a vengeance hungry seeker like Y Bakura, or a selfish sadist like Y Marik.

Jounouchi puts himself into danger quite often where he can die for the sake of others, he gets pissed the hell off if you touch his friends and hes got the brawling to back it up, and hes got the history of lashing out and violence thanks to his abuse father. Jounouchi should have had a lot more themes with how he represents potential through the red eyes black dragon connection and have him have to face BAD potentials. You could not tell me if things were just slightly different in Jou's life, he could not end up as any of them

Like could you IMAGINE if through shadow game bullshit yami marik learned about his dad and was like "ah i should have known you were a kindred spirit, perhaps since youve fought so well i'll finish the job for you" and have jou's fucking reaction to that especially if he goes apeshit in a way that has has some sort of symbolism to yami bakura? I'd go insane
