Fortnite Starfire Skin

My English explanation isn´t so extensive than the Spanish one due to my limited English vocabulary. I offer my apologies if I don't explain in greater detail as my Spanish version.

Introduction/ Introducción

ENG: Starfire is one of my favorite DC characters, when I know that she going to be on Fortnite I felt so happy and excited to see her on the game. We currently have two members of the Teen Titans: Beast Boy and Raven, so we knew that sooner or later she would come to us. The question was when? And if she would arrive before or after any other member of the Teen Titans.

Now the wait is over, Starfire is now available in the game for 1, 500 V Bucks and I have a lot to say about it.

ESP: Starfie es uno de mis personajes favoritos de todo DC comics, conocí su personaje por la serie de los TEEN TITANS y de ahí pudimos verla en alunas películas mas, y podría decirse que, desde entonces su popularidad ha ido en aumento.

Actualmente tenemos a dos integrantes de los Teen Titans en Fortnite (Raven y Chico Bestia), así que todos sabíamos que eventualmente ella llegaría al juego, pero no sabíamos cuando, o si llegaría antes o después que cualquier otro integrante de los Teen Titants y la verdad me entusiasmo demasiado saber que la siguiente en la lista seria ella y pues la espera termino, el sueño se ha hecho realidad y Starfire esta disponible en la tienda de Fortnite por 1,500 PaVos, y créanme, tengo mucho que decir sobre ella.

Ya no puedo esperar para ver a Robin en el juego. Es mi super heroe favorito de todo DC comics.

First Impressions/ Primeras Impresiones

ENG: It’s difficult to give your opinion when you have a high expectations about something, especially when you love a character, when I found out that Starfire is coming to Fortnite I couldn't help but imagine how she would be like in the game and I wanted that idea, that design in the game so when I finally saw her , I didn't hate it but I didn´t love it, it was like a neutral point.

I really didn't expect a satin finish on her outfit or the design decisions they made, I wanted a censored version of her version of Rebith. I was ready to see her outfit censored.

I had no problem with her hair, I absolutely loved it! I think that the only thing that conflicted me was definitely the outfit and the finish of it.

ESP: Es difícil dar tu opinión cuando tienes altas expectativas acerca de algo, especialmente cuando le tienes cariño a ese algo, cuando me entere de la colaboración, no pude evitar imaginarme como seria ella en el juego y quería ver esa idea en el juego así que cuando finalmente la vi no me encanto pero tampoco me desagrado, era un punto mas neutro.

Realmente no esperaba un acabado satinado en su super traje o las decisiones de diseño que tomaron pues yo quería un versión censurada del atuendo de Rebith. Estaba lista para ver ese traje censurado.

Y Definitivamente ame su cabello, me gusto desde el primer instante que la vi, pienso que lo único que me conflictuó fue definitivamente el outfit y el acabado del mismo.

ENG: So after seeing said final result, I wasn't thinking of buying it. Spoiler Alert: I did buy the skin.

ESP: Así que después de ver dicho resultado final ya no tenia pensado comprarla. Spoiler Alert: Sí la compre.

Design/ Diseño

ENG: After carefully analyzing and observing the skin, I was able to notice that the adaptation of the Fortnite Starfire outfit was not a specific outfit or design. Fortnite found a balance, placing some elements of her most iconic costumes or versions in one skin, giving us a very interesting result. You can see that in the image below:

ESP: Después de analizar y observar detenidamente la skin pude notar que el traje no era ningún diseño en especifico del personaje, al parecer Fortnite trato de encontrar un equilibrio colocando algunos elementos de trajes o versiones mas icónicas y menos "sexualizadas" del personaje, dando como resultado un mix bastante interesante, que pueden verse en la siguiente imagen:

ENG: Even the skin has two loose strands of hair that, maybe they are my ideas, but may be a more realistic representation of the strands of hair that stood out in the 2003 animated Starfire.

ESP: Incluso la skin tiene dos mechones sueltos de cabello que, quizá son ideas mías pero puede que sean una representación mas relista de los mechones de cabello que sobresalían en la Starfire animada de 2003.

Things I liked about Starfire/ Lo que me gustó de Starfire

ENGLISH:

• Her Hair: It is so pretty, it has a beautiful color, it's so long and I love it, in her fire version looks amazing with that effect, I think that the designers and animators did a great job with starfire's hair.

• Her Nails: I didn't realize in the beginning but after a few hours I noticed that she has a nails, it is subtle but she has, that was cool.

• The physics of motion: They are great, when you run, jump or move their hair behaves according to gravity, besides it has an animation that gives the impression that she has abundant hair.

I think the overall design is pretty good, it was a good buy.

ESPAÑOL

• Su cabello: ¿Qué les puedo decir? es hermoso, tiene un color muy bello, es super largo y lo amo, en su versión de fuego luce increíble con ese efecto, parece una viva llama en el mapa, quizá es algo llamativa pero por fines estéticos cumple completamente, pienso que los diseñadores y animadores hicieron un excelente trabajo con su cabello.

• Sus uñas: No me di cuenta al inicio pero después de jugar con ella unas horas pude notar que tenia uñas, es super sutil pero las tiene.

• Las físicas de movimiento: Pienso que son increíbles, su cabello cuando corres tiene una animación tan bonita que genera esa impresión de que tiene ese abundante cabello.

El diseño en general es muy bueno, para mi fue una buena compra.

Things I don't like about Starfire/ Lo que NO me gusto de Starfire

ENGLISH

•The line that divides the light in her hair: I think they don't make a good decision with the light parting in their hair; it should have been with a gradient because that like looks unsightly.

ESPAÑOL

• La linea de luz en su cabello: Pienso que no se tomo una buena decisión con la división y/o delimitación de luz de su cabello, esta debió ser con un degradado y no con una linea, pues el resultado final luce antiestético.

ENGLISH:

• The absence of a style with casual clothes: Raven and Beast Boy have style with casual clothes; starfire must have had one too.

ESPAÑOL:

• La ausencia de un estilo con ropa de civil: Tanto Raven como Chico bestia tienen un estilo adicional con ropa de civil, créanme se nota muchísimo la ausencia de eso. vi a muchoas quejarse por ello, yo fui una de ellos, por lo que algunos usuarios comenzaron a hacer edits con el estilo. Starfire debió tener uno también.

BackBling/ Mochila

ENG: I don't have so much to say about it, the backbling is the Starfire's pet and it have this description: "Starfire's mutant moth larva who is always hungry. "Silky" to her friends"

For me this Backbling is little big and probably never going to used it but it is a fact that i never imagined something different to be starfire's backbling.

Besides that the backbling has nothing else, it does not have more styles and it isn't reactive either; only it has a little glow.

I certainly don't recommend equipping Starfire with a BackBling, because it doesn't look aesthetic and cancels out the physics of her hair.

ESP: No tengo mucho que decir al respecto, la mochila es la larva mascota de Starfire, la cual tiene esta descripción: <<La larva polilla mutante de Starfire que siempre tiene hambre. Sus amistades la llaman "Sedita">>

Para mi la mochila es un poco grande y seguramente nunca la voy a usar pero es un hecho que no me imagine alguna otra cosa que pudiera ser su mochila.

Además del lore no tiene nada de especial, no tiene estilos y ninguna clase de reactividad, solo brilla un poco, además de que no recomiendo que le equipes una mochila a Starfire pues no se ve estético y anula las fiscas de su cabello.

Conclution/ Conclusión

ENG: Starfire is a beautiful skins, she has a beautiful details, I think that is a great purchase.

ESP: Starfire es una hermosa skin, tiene muy bonitos detalles, pienso que es una gran compra, en especial si eres fan del personaje.

you know i think i had gotten kinda lucky finding so many great to ok totk reviews bc i went to search yesterday (my god is youtube shit at searches now man, i want to see stuff for what i searched for not 20 things other people watched) but there truly is some utter shit there

i went through some that boiled down to angry gamer mad about game (kinda glad really bc seeing someone that actually is like that it makes me feel less like im doing the same xD) one of which saying the only reason the building is in there is bc they were trying to copy ... FORTNITE??? and another ones big point was that .. the graphics and animations are the same which ... just sounds like one of those pokémon people angry that a new game doesnt redo every single model and animation for 400 NPCs

(also one with a one step away from porn thumbnail that later i saw someone else talk about and apparently og video was about zelda being ..... too ... woke ... actually made me a little curious bc what the fuck could possibly be woke in totk?? sonia having slightly darker skin????? but theres no way im giving someone like that views lol)

and a huge portion is videos making fun of bad reviews for totk ...... which i dont think i need to explain why thats not worth anyones time lol

i find it sad how hard it is to find more diverse kind of people making totk reviews since id love to hear someone that may understand and know more than i do talk about it, new perspective and all that (also since most reviews i found good are really taking everything at face value with no one really looking at how the whole hyrule kingdom vs evil desert man is kinda ... not cool) but then again i know how youtube can be and how extreme some hardcore totk defenders are so i probably wouldnt want to get into all that either :U

Clearing up some misconceptions about Overwatch 2 and its "Overwhelmingly Negative" reviews

Okay I just wanted to write something 'cause I saw a lot of misinfo and some confusion about what Overwatch 2 (OW2) even is, especially now that it's getting more (negative) attention again. Starting with what OW2 even is and how we ended up with such a hugely negative reception.

What's the difference between Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2?

OW2 is free-to-play

OW2 is 5v5 (1 tank instead of 2 tanks)

OW2 has a different monetization scheme. It has a new buyable currency used to purchase cosmetics (mainly skins) from the store and to buy the battlepass

OW2 purchases are all cosmetic items EXCEPT when a new hero is released. Purchasing the battlepass will give you immediate access to a new hero. Otherwise, you will need to play enough games to unlock them.

Everything else in OW2 is either standard update stuff (new heroes, new maps, new gamemodes, etc) or carried over from OW1 (Yes, you keep all your cosmetics from OW1)

Why did they create Overwatch 2?

The original vision for Overwatch was a PvE game:

The Overwatch team, especially at its inception, considered itself an MMO development team. As we transitioned away from that original concept and started creating Overwatch, we included plans to one day return to that scope. We had a crawl, walk, run plan. Overwatch was the crawl, a dedicated version of PvE was the walk, and an MMO was the run. (Source 1)

Overwatch originally intending to be a PvE game was brought up in a Tweet 2 years before as well (Source 2).

Overwatch 2 was meant to be a major sequel with the focus on PvE.

What happened to PvE?

I recommend reading the full blog post, but I'll try to summarize.

Essentially the original vision of PvE was:

Story Missions (co-op gameplay with cutscenes)

Hero Mode (skill trees for each hero to upgrade and play in PvE)

When you heard the news that "OW2 PvE was cancelled", what was actually cancelled was Hero Mode. Story Missions were just released this season. This is still a major blow to PvE, because Hero Mode was the piece meant to give a reason for replaying the PvE missions over and over again.

PvE was cancelled because ultimately it was too much work, and they were not making enough progress at the cost of the original PvP game. (More on this later)

Why is Overwatch 2 receiving so many negative reviews?

I'm gonna give bullet points but I wanna address something first: A lot of people have mentioned the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard for sexual harassment and discrimination (More info) when talking about why Overwatch 2 is being reviewed poorly. While this is obviously a serious issue within the company and the game industry at large, the truth is that if this was the only problem, we would not be seeing reviews this bad. Unfortunately, the average gamer does not care about how game developers are being treated. See Epic Games crunch culture and the lawsuit against Riot Games for sexual harassment and discrimination. Fortnite and League of Legends/Valorant are doing just fine now.

Here is a list of some reasons why I think Overwatch 2 is being reviewed so negatively:

The original PvE vision with skill trees was not realized

Preferring the old monetization scheme of "buy the game once, earn cosmetics" instead of "game is free, buy cosmetics"

Believing the current cosmetics are overpriced

Not having immediate access to new heroes unless you pay

Preferring 6v6 gameplay to 5v5

Frustrated with content delays (Like Hero Mastery)

Expectations for more content on release

Misinformation (like PvE being completely cancelled)

Bandwagoning on the Overwatch hate train

Other pretty standard reasons to dislike a video game (game balance, don't like the lore, etc)

Distrust in Blizzard/the development team

And the last one is one I want to talk about a little more

Why is there so much distrust between the development team and the community?

While Overwatch 2 was in development, Overwatch 1 was abandoned. And the community largely felt that the content brought by OW2 was not worth the time lost for OW1.

OW2 was announced at Blizzcon on November 1, 2019. Since its announcement and until OW2 was released, Overwatch received 1 new hero and 0 new standard maps in 3 years. It previously was getting 3 new heroes and ~3 new standard maps each year.

If OW had kept its release schedule, we would've had 8 new heroes and 9 new maps when OW2 released. We got 3 new heroes and 6 new maps.

When OW2 released, lots of people wondered why they abandoned the game to make a sequel nobody asked for and with not enough changes. The developers are already aware that they made a mistake:

When we launched Overwatch in 2016, we quickly started talking about what that next iteration could be. Looking back at that moment, it's now obvious that we weren’t as focused as we should have been on a game that was a runaway hit. Instead, we stayed focused on a plan that was years old. Work began on the PvE portion of the game and we steadily continued shifting more and more of the team to work on those features. (Source 1)

This was especially frustrating for the people who were only interested in PvP.

But some people did hold onto the hope that the eventual release of PvE would make up for the lost development time for PvP.

And then the scope for PvE was cut in half, and once again the community felt that they were being served half-finished content.

It's been a continuous cycle of:

Overwatch announces a new feature

Everyone gets their hopes up that this new feature will fully deliver on everyone's expectations

The feature does not meet expectations (and is sometimes less than what was originally teased) or is delayed

IMPORTANT: And while this is all frustrating for players, and it makes sense to negatively review for these reasons, please never harass individual game developers. 99% of the time, game developers are just as passionate about the game as you are. You don't know what kinds of hells are going on behind the scenes that are preventing them from doing their job well.

Does Overwatch 2 deserve all of the negative reviews?

Obviously it's subjective, but I just want to throw it out there that I still think that Overwatch at its core is a good video game. I still play and have fun playing both ranked and quick play. I think the gameplay is very good. Everything else surrounding it is very frustrating and discouraging at times.

Oh boy, oh boy oh boy OH BOY!!!

Ch 13 dropped, it dropped on my forehead as if s ok someone just threw a slipper into my face (that's how powerful it is!!) AND YET AM STILL WIGGLING MY HANDS AND LEGS FROM EXCITEMENT!

So! The review! *take deep breath* When the ch started with Leonardo begin in bed and how you talked about him unable to Make it to breakfast nor lunch and even couldn't apologize? I knew he was feeling 'overwhelmed' since he can still feel the 'phantom pain' (i think they call it that) and feel the burden of not takin' care of the kids, his son CJ (yes in my heart CJ is leo's son).

How you talked about Leonardo's days in the apocalypse broke my heart easily; he had to do it since it's his duty, his job and multiple lifes are counting on him wither they like him, love him or hate him... They needed him.

And it breaks me because like school in weekend; when you're used to wake up early in half of the week, surely you'll wake up early with no alarm clock. (It had happened to me multiple times, you don't know).

And how he remembered mikey made something special for him, his brother f!mikey and CJ? Adds more guilt. Raphael begin the worried mother hen? More guilt added to Leonardo's guilt bank book.

Then someone came, thought it was future mikey but IT'S 3.0 SHELDON!! WHERE WERE YOU BUDDY?!?!

This gives me amount of happiness since we know Donnie - and probably future Donnie - are happy that his kid is back!

When Leonardo promises to join the meeting at 6 i was like " don't force yourself! You're tired!🥺 " but later on i thought that Leonardo maybe needed something to take his mind off and this meeting is what he needs.

Going to the kitchen, meeting little mikey always makes Leonardo happy so am happy the baby boy didn't get upset with him completely for messing the breakfast nor lunch, at least he's gonna eat... I felt at the end of the kitchen part that mikey knew Leonardo was overwhelmed and what he needed wasn't scolding but hug and care... And boy am i happy he had done that.

Fast forward to the lab, Donnie doing the YT intro which takes about 10 minutes before diving into the point of video/jk (come on, gotta bully him once before i move forward 🤣).

Then i see the spoiler part and be thankful and happy " if you were to make Leonardo hug someone first other then CJ i would've came knocking on your door/jk/jk "

The process of equipping the new arm reminded me of a person taking a needle for the first time in a long time, and Leonardo feeling the burn through his skin that almost made him bite his tongue was scary 😱 i do not want to imagine that!

The part where Donatello (future him) getting so excited and proud about past him made me happy! It's like he wanna shout " LOOK AT ME! YOUNGER ME! HE DID IT!! HE'S AMAZING!! " ahaha...

Then came the test, when Donnie asked him to move his fingers and hand i was like " bro just ask him to dance and make it short " then couldn't stop imagining NQK leo dancing fortnite style xD

Talking about multiplayer games 2022

Hi, I don’t really talk about this much because I mostly do it on twitter, but for the past two years or so I got active on backloggd because I enjoy writing in depth about video games but wont pretend that I have the speech ability to start a video game essay youtube. Feel free to read some of those if you want, I put more time into them than I should

However those who did click it might've noticed that I don’t really put stuff out on multiplayer based games. It’s not that I don’t play them; I play a lot really, but I have a hard time leaving a permanent review on multiplayer games just because of how the modern multiplayer games are; if you game is not actively updated it dies and is left in the dust. Every multiplayer game, even if it doesn’t call itself one, is a live service game, and live service games have to be iterated on constantly, it’s just the nature of the beast. How do you put a review on something that might radically change in a year from now? 

But I do want to talk about multiplayer games i put a decent amount of time into; but backloggd doesn’t have liek an individual journel entry thing i think and twitter doesn’t have the character limit for it, so I wanted to talk about multiplayer focused games I put time into this year  in this post. check it out under the cut

Lets just peel the Bandaid off real quick

Fortnite

fuck me. 

I think everyone has a character that fortnite will put into the game and it’ll break the camel’s back and you go “alright, i gotta see whats going on” and install it. for me it was vegeta.

It’s all an elaborate bait. They lure you in with truly outrageous crossovers; like shonens? we got DBZ, naruto and now MHA. Your favorite game characters? we got a lot of them; and god help us if they managed to make a deal with nintendo. You like marvel? cuz baby we Got Marvel. And the trap they lure you into with the bait? it’s that... fortnite is a good game?

Fortnite just hits a wonderful level of casual while still being a game where you can solo queue. The game just loves adding or rotating in weird stuff and it conjoins into a truly unique experience, while still having solid gunplay and honest 1v1s.

I’ve caught people filling gas with a pumpkin themed rocket launcher, turning them and the entire gas station into dust. In squads we set up a bounty, all four of us got on our own motorcycles and bows and chased them half way through the map like we were modern day mongels. I downed someone, picked them up, and had my friend with the bow that shoots poison gas shoot a cloud at my feet so I can smoke a dude out to death in my hands, which irl would likely be a for real warcrime. I can’t get this anywhere else.

other short thoughts: the game’s story setup of an island where realities crash together does wonders for the games skins. Outside of the collab stuff the skin parameters jsut being “a human body shape”  means they have full freedom to do whatever they want with skins; and this game has better original skins that most games on the market, there’s something you like in it. 

Part of the game’s success is its ability to just pump out content faster than any other game on the market, almost to the detriment of the entire gaming scene. The game rotates in new stuff almost every single week. Season 4 almost feels like a brand new game. Every other games output factor feels sluggish comapred to fortnite, which isnt fair because they make a bazillion dollars a day.

Also all of this is because of no build. Every time i’ve played gamemodes with build I find building just a straight detriment to the game. I would not of gotten into this game if I didnt get into it when no build was in the game; something that i’m pretty sure epic realizes. add no build royal rumble NOW

Fortnite unfortunately rules on multiple fronts

Gundam Evolution

Gundam Evo is a fun game with just the most annoying progression/monetization on earth.

Gundam is fun, fast, with cool characters even though I mostly just wanted to play methus/unicorn. Coming off the OW2 beta where i played for one evening with friends and didnt feel like playing it again into evo felt like night and day. Felt more frag heavy, far less CC/shield shooting, everyone’s got dashes, far less dependant on mmo tank/healer/dps focus in shooting game for some reason lead fora very fun time.

It still had overwatch problems; sometimes a team pops 3 ults at the same time and you just gotta give it up, lower skill team mates makes the game extremely hard and lop sided, ect ect but I still greatly enjoyed it more than OW2 and is one of the funner games in terms of pure shooting

however, the F2P aspect of the game basically killed it for me. The currency to buy units (and loot boxes) is limited to just rewards from the battlepass; of which giving how the first two went will require you to reach almost the end of the BP to get enough currency to buy a unit. Given the plan seemingly to add 1 unit a season, there’s no way to acquire every unit free to play (there’s 5 locked from the beginning, 6 now with Nu) , and if you fall off for a season the stuff you cant get just piles up. Along with that the daily/weekly system is frustrating; all quests are also locked to randomly selected choices of units, an idea perhaps made to force variation but often leads to you just not playing what you want so you dont fall behind on the BP. 

This all came to a head for me when i finished the S1 BP, took a break from the game, returned to S2 to see that every weekly/daily i had was for units I don’t want to play and had all interest in playing get sucked out of me.

Gundam evo is a fun game just dragged into the mud with the infuriating f2p design choices.

Multiple Different Fighting Games

I have a complication relationship with fighting games. I like them, and buy them, but just cant commit myself to them. I hate playing online, part of it being how ladder experience in most fighting games and also i’m not good at them so I get angry if I’m not playing with my friends, and sometimes i still get mad when i’m playing with friends. I’ll keep buying them and there’s plenty I do want to put more time into, but I had hitting discords with @everyone games? so a lot of them are doomed to be low on play time. here’s a quick rundown for them anyways

KOF 2002UM: picked up for the rollback update. I already kinda knew it but I played a decent amount of KOF this year and I really enjoy this franchise, hitting a nice middle ground between games like SF and faster anime fighters for me. This game is very fun and I had a blast. I also picked up 98 but i didnt play enough of it to make a real opinion.

Melty Blood Type Lumina: I really wanted to like this, and returned with the 2.0 update, and just still can’t get into it. it’s really disappointing because i LOVE MBAACC, which I would say is one of my favorite fighting games. Just never hit otuside of very early days; I still dont like shield and changes just feels like a bandaid and I never found a charater i was in love with like I was with C Wara, and seeing how this game is now half tsukihime and half FGO i guess im just not gonna get it.

KOF XV: similiar to 2002um, I really like this game and wish I had it in me to put more hours into it. I just think KOF is fun. Really hate how Billy ended up in this game because that’s my dude but terry and kukri are still cool and Shigo is on the way as well. We’ll see.

Not Traditional Fighters:

Nick all stars brawl: I’m a huge fan of Slapcity so I was onboard with this but honestly was just a flop for me. people understand that half the fun of melee is that the game is fast but games dont really understand WHY or HOW Melee is fast. Their solution is just to give people a million air dashes. The game feels mashy; even playing against people who knew more about what they were doing felt like tons of just air dashing and mashing out the safe airs, and if you’re really a gamer you knew jablock combos.  The psuedo 2.0 update helped the game on a small scale with voice acting and kinda fun items for castuals but I just wasnt having fun when playing this game. I liked Shredder tho

Multiversus: I still hop on this game a bit but I think I have similar issues with this game that I have with nick brawl, although i think MV is just better overall than NASB. Similarly just replaces movement related techs by giving people fast air dodges with long ranges and multiple uses. Still, it’s pretty fun, I think the 2v2 emphasis is a cool angle and there’s some cool characters. I still get a very It’s Mashy And Air Dashy feel from it but miles better than how it was in NASB, the F2P systems are fine and I hop on every once in a while. Also I can play Lebron and hes actually fun.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

not necessarily a pure multiplayer game, but hey i like playing with friends

I like MH, and I think Rise and it’s systems are all great, and I wanted to actually play it which was unlike how i felt after a few hours in Iceborne. But as i’ve said before, the modern game content implementations is the worst thing that’s happened in the Monster Hunter. I hate MH drip feed. I dont want to play MH a little bit every few months, I want to just go extremely hard for like 2-3 months. But that’s not good for Engagement Numbers. Of course with drip feeding a few monsters every few months is fucking up the gear game; because they want you to not just kill a monster once and close the game the gear from new monsters has to be worth grinding out, so every patch the previous tier of weapons and armors have to be put back for the new hotness... which also makes the grinding kind of worthless because the elemental set of SAs i grind out with afflicted is about to have multiple pieces of it get outdated and needed to regrind.

Still, the game is fun, switch skills and wirebug is fun as hell. This is one of my favorite interpretations of my already favorite weapon in rise SA. I just hate that the drip feed is the fate of this franchise now because I really cant stand it, but hey when this game gets its last update i’ll dive back in.

THE CARD GAME SECTION BEGINS NOW:

Yu-gi-oh Master Duel 

I did write a review about this game on backloggd so i’ll keep it short. YGO is a fun but devisie game, and the game’s Balls To The Wall At All Times gameplay is 100% not for everyone, but going balls to the walls also can rule. 

MD as a client is pretty good, and is especially generous compared to most TCG clients, but the games lack of formats is painful. YGO is a particularly brutal BO1 game, and a lack of BO3 with sideboarding leads to frustrating laddering experience. Along with that, the game’s card list being multiple sets behind both TCG and OCG, and having a strange banlist that’s a combination of TCG/OCG and some half hearted BO1 hits leads the game to not really feel like an actual simulator for either of the games. 

I don’t hate MD but BO1 no sideboarding has lead to constant utterly miserable metas where you fight floodgates or 45 step bazillion endboard negate combos which burned me after, you know, a solid 200 hours.

Marvel Snap

It’s honestly remarkable that this game is good. I see most Brand: The Card Game! games to feel like just quick cash  grabs that never go anywhere, but they actually tried with this game, although i continue to lament on how games simply feast on the corpse of Artifact.

But yeah it’s fun. The power of the location cards alone do great to stop people from autopiloting turns, which would be a problem with this game if they didnt exist. It does lead to games sometimes being crapshoots and sometimes you just gotta take an L when X Mansion gives you quicksilver and your opponent infinianut, but all games being short and under 5 minutes makes it hard to get really mad when you get fucked. It does make the game’s signature Snap system, which lets you effectively gamble rank points, a very strange edition when location RNG can just fuck you over.

The game’s card collecting system is... weird but it is fairly F2P friendly ( even though ive bought all of the season passes lol). A lack of a way to just craft a card I want is frustrating, especially when you see a deck that’s cool and you’re just gonna have to wait forever to play it because you dont have like 3 of the cards needed for it, or just lack a strong lynchpin in an archetype (i STILL dont have Death man), and once you hit collection 4 opening like 3 crates without getting a new card is going to start getting really annoying.  Variants are a great way to do alt card art and there’s many that are pretty, although i mostly just spend my gold on new dailies for more chances at cards anyways.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Live:

Also did end up writing a backloggd review on this (very recently too) so i’ll keep it short: Game is fun and client is fine. Great new player onboarding due to the game just giving you the shell for a meta deck, and the other starter decks feel more reflective of the actual game as compared to the previous PTCG client. Incredibly stingy currency makes F2Ping hardly feasible, and whaling in this game involves just buying bulk codes off ebay... which is remarkably cheap honestly but still. Also teh game jsut has miserably ugly avatars, really dont know why they committed to that design. It’s fine, but if you want to F2P i can’t recommend it.

And that’s it for multiplayer games I put a lot of time into this year. fortnite is fun and i wish i could play fighting games without getting annoyed.

Got my dad to watch mcc (scar pov) with me, here are some highlights of the occasion

he's colorblind and struggled telling teams apart, but appreciated color indicators on some blocks in games

did not understand survival games until he saw the border and then went "oh it's like fortnite!!"

asked questions about every ten seconds which was actually quite lovely, but included:

asking me how mcc teams are decided

asking me who scott smajor was no less than five times

asking me to explain the concept of hermitcraft.

did not care about the game chat until he realized that's where i was getting stats from and then started leaning as far forward as possible to read it

i don't think he ever really grasped the concept of rocket spleef. he had fun watching though

thought antfrost's skin was a bird

asked me if ace race was only for ace people (definitely trying to connect with me after i recently came out as ace. much appreciated, very sweet)

complained if people punched scar off during tgttos

asked if scar would be interested in coming to our family server to build

Reasons why I bought Tropical Punch Zoey Skin !

Reason N° 1: SISTAR Hyolyn´s outfit is like Zoey’s

I love K-POP, when I was younger and I started  listening to K-POP music, some day I found a girl group band called SISTAR (SISTAR was a South Korean girl group formed in 2010 by Starship Entertainment. The group consisted of Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom), I loved SISTAR so I became a big fan because their music, their super summery aesthetic and funny dances.

When SISTAR launched "Shake it" single I loved the song, well I loved everything, especially the outfits, they were so cool and funny.

When a k-pop group do a comeback they do a promotion on TV Shows, social media, etc, and they do a performance of their single, in this case, SISTAR sang and danced "Shake it" different days, in different TV shows, with different outfits, one of them is this!! That is wearing Hyolyn.

Razon N°1: El outfit de Zoey es muy parecido al de Hyolyn de SISTAR

ESP: ME encanta el K-POP, descubrí dicho genero cuando era mucho mas joven; entonces, un día, buscando nueva música encontré una un grupo de chicas llamado SISTAR (SISTAR Fue un cuarteto femenino surcoreano formado por Starship Entertainment en 2010. Las integrantes del grupo fueron: Bora, Hyolyn, Soyou y Dasom). Me gusto tanto el grupo, que me volví una fiel Fan debido a sus canciones, su estética super veraniega y sus divertidas coreografías.

Un día, cuando SISTAR lanzo su nuevo single "Shake it" en 2015, simplemente ame la camión y sigue siendo hasta el momento una de mis canciones favoritas de toda la vida. Es que me encanto TODO, pero aquí solo voy a resaltar los outfits.

Permítame explicarles, para los que no lo saben, cuando un grupo de K-POP hace un "Comeback" la mayoría de las veces, hacen promoción en shows de televisión coreana, Social Media, entre otras cosas, y hacen presentaciones de su "single" en dichas plataformas, en este caso en especifico SISTAR canto y bailo "Shake It" en diferentes shows en diferentes días, con diferentes outfits. Uno de ellos es este que esta usando HYOLYN.

ENG: If you notice, She is wearing high-heeled shoes with socks like Zoey tropical punch, the shorts have a similar cut style, even she wears another short underneath. The high-heeled shoes are, in fact, very similar; besides Zoey's shirt looks like a combination of SISTAR's shirts, obviously the colors are different, of course, but the cut and styles are very similar.

I'm not saying the outfit is a copy, I'm just explaining why Zoey's outfit reminds me of SISTAR's aesthetic and I LOVE THAT !

ESP: Si observamos bien, ella esta usando zapatos de tacón con calcetas largas, de la misma forma que Zoey ponche tropical, solo que con diferentes colores, los shorts también tienen un estilo similar, pues el corte parece ser el mismo, además de usar un short debajo de otro. Es un hecho que el estilo de los zapatos es también demasiado similar; además de que la camiseta de Zoey parece una combinación de los cortes que usan las chicas de SISTAR, pero el corte y estilo son bastante similares.

NO estoy diciendo que el outfit es una copia, solo estoy explicando porque el outfit de la skin de Zoey me recuerda a la estética de SISTAR y ciertamente eso me encanta.

Reason N° 2: Her color palette

In her clothes we can see a metallic color and texture like the candy wrapper, Let's remember that the concept of the original zoey is related to sweets, so point!

All the colors in her hair remind me of the ones used in watermelon-flavored candies. Here we have another point!

And all the colors of the outfit can easily be related to fruits such as: strawberry, cucumber, watermelon, kiwi, lemon, among other tropical fruits

En su ropa podemos encontrar un color metálico con textura similar a las envolturas de algunos caramelos, recordemos que el concepto original de Zoey esta relacionado con los dulces, así que... ¡PUNTO!

Todos los colores de su cabello me recuerdan a los que se usan en los dulces con sabor a sandía. ¡Aquí tenemos otro punto!

Además, todos los colores del outfit pueden fácilmente relacionarse con varias frutas, como: la fresa, pepino, sandia, kiwi, limón, entre otras frutas tropicales.

Reason N° 3: All attention to detail

We can see all the love and attention to detail in a single glance, Zoey Tropical Ponch is not only a redesign of the original Zoey, it changes and reinvents everything that she was from the beginning without losing her essence.

We have candies on her clothes, for example on her glove, hair and belt, a striking color palette that reminiscent of refreshing fruits; In addition, we having very good movement physics in her hair and belt.

It was certainly made with a lot of dedication and you can see the very good quality within the gameplay.

Razón N° 3: Toda la atención al detalle.

Podemos ver todo el amor y la atención al detalle en una simple mirada, Zoey Ponche Tropical no es simplemente un rediseño de la Zoey original, dicho rediseño cambia y reinventa todo lo que era desde el inicio sin perder su esencia.

Tenemos dulces en su ropa, por ejemplo, en su guante, cabello, cinturón, una llamativa paleta de colores que recuerdan a frutas refrescantes; además, contamos con buenas físicas de movimiento en su cabello y cinturón.

Ciertamente fue hecha con mucha dedicación y se puede ver la buena calidad dentro de la jugabilidad.

Reason N° 4: The bubbles of gum in her hair

I have to mention how I absolutely fell in love at first sight when I see that bubbles on her hair. it was a creative and beautiful detail.

I don't know how to explain it well, but I'll try, if you imagine it, the bubbles in her hair can be many things, example: 1) it can be bubble gum 2) They also look like pink sea bubbles that got stuck in her hairstyle 3) or a kind of plastic to protect her hairstyle from the water.

Razón N° 4: Las burbujas de chicle en su peinado

Tengo que mencionar como me enamore a primera vista cuando vi las burbujas en su cabello, pensé "¡que creativo y bonito detalle!"

No sé cómo explicarlo bien, pero lo intentaré, si te lo imaginas, las burbujas en su cabello pueden ser muchas cosas, ejemplo: 1) puede ser chicle 2) También parecen burbujas de mar rosas que se le quedaron pegadas en el peinado. 3) o una especie de plástico para proteger su peinado del agua.

Fall Guys Season 2: Satellite Scramble

First review so let's make it about the game I'm currently obsessed with! I'm definitely late on the Fall Guys hype train, but it has not disappointed. Or at least, it won't disappoint if you're okay with losing repeatedly, sometimes humiliatingly.

The Game

If you played during the first season of the game then you already know what it's all about. For those of you who still have yet to play this FTP game: you play as a little bean character (who is customizable) and you play a variety of mini games in the hopes of surviving to the final round and claiming the victory crown.

The number of rounds varies depending on whether you're playing a solo show, squad, duos, or one of their rotating tournaments. With a full game, it could go for anywhere between 4-6 rounds. Sometimes 7, and I think I've gone to an 8th round once, it just depends on how many players have been eliminated. The objectives of the rounds change depending on their category, of which there are 7.

There are race rounds where you gain points depending on how quickly you make it through the map. Survival rounds are ones where you try to survive on the map the longest. Team rounds match you up with other players (or other duos/squads) on a color team (red, blue, yellow, or green) and you earn points for a collective team score, highest scores advance to the next round. Hunt rounds have you chasing and/or collecting things all over the map to reach a specific goal in the time limit. There are a few logic rounds where you use logic to solve a puzzle. And then there's the final rounds, a category designed to eliminate all but one player.

The Experience

The controls are incredibly simple, at least on the Switch. I have friends who play on the PS4 and PC and both of those systems seem more complex than necessary. In reality, there are 5 controls. You can move, you can jump, you can throw yourself, you can grab, and you can control the camera. That's it. Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot one. You can also toggle whether you see other players' usernames or not. Personally, my 2nd Gen Switch on my apartment's wi-fi doesn't do great when you can see everyone else's usernames in addition to all the buck-wild physics going on around you.

It can get frustrating sometimes, for sure. The physics of the game lends itself to bugs and glitches - especially if you have a slow internet connection. You can phase through the floor and run right off the map sometimes. However, those moments are few and far between, so it's more funny than frustrating usually. But if you are victim to constant internet outage, maybe skip this one. But fret not, there will be many other reviews and recommendations in the future!

Fall Guys is all around an incredibly simple game, much like it's sort of sister game, Fortnite. While Fall Guys was not created by the same people who made Fortnite, it's been owned by Fortnite's creator company Epic Games for quite a while now. This has only been good for the game. It runs incredibly smoothly when you've got decent internet connection and the different rounds are fun! However, as with all free-to-play games, at the end of the day there's still money to be made. There's a season pass you can buy and a whole bunch of skins and stuff you can get, for a price.

Sure, they have ways for you to earn the in game currency, but that requires leveling up and leveling up requires a lot of grinding (Yes, grinding in Fall Guys is a thing lmao). So they really want you to spend money in the shop. I have yet to buy anything with my hard-earned real money, but the temptation has grown strong since the beginning of this season (yesterday). Mostly just the season pass, though. But this brings me to the next section.

The Accessories

Listen, I would be lying to you if I said the skins weren't cute. They are. There's a Hatsune Miku skin this season. And last night I earned a little flying saucer skirt. I have homework, and all I wanna do is grind in Fall Guys so I can get cute accessories. And your character is just a little bean dude! The sky is the limit with how cute you can make this little guy. There are countless options, too! Like I said, it's become incredibly difficult to not pay money to this stupid company for their silly little skins.

So this is my one warning to you. Tread carefully in the shop. I have a sunny side up egg hat that's taunting me as I type this. But it'll be there for 6 more days...it will be mine.

The Conclusion

Fall Guys is a great game if you're just looking to waste some time or play a game with little investment. There's no story, just endless rounds of fun (or irritation). And ample opportunity for streamers to utilize this game with their community since you can start your own show with up to 40 or 60 players. All that being said, it's still a free-to-play game owned by a soulless corporation.

VERY late replying to this because I straight-up forgot asks existed, sorry about that-

I don't actually play Fortnite - I played it briefly one Halloween when I could get Dire in the co-op mode and do his quests, hence the review - but I was sent Wendell when he released. He's much more a cartoon wolf-person than a werewolf, but he's neat. Dire is my thing, though, rather than Wendell. Dire is a werewolf rather than a cartoon wolf walking upright, as is Wendell, haha.

I also heard there's a werewolf that has no werewolf skin. They really need to fix that. I'd also be curious to see Dire's werewolf form in LEGO...

But yeah, I may not play Fortnite save for my one brief fling with it to do Dire's questline, but I definitely appreciate Dire either way. Have some action figures of him and stuff since he's a cool werewolf, and I like all of his forms: human, wolf-man forms, and werewolf form. I also love they actually did include the multiple forms and torn-up clothing for him - makes him so much more werewolfish!
