Europride Gothenburg 2018

Well this was the first time I’ve ever had a partner during Pride, and it was fucking amazing!!!!

There were so many people, everyone was so happy, people were excited, and dancing, and there were drag queens, and people really liked our outfits.

Högljutt. Varmt. Färgglatt. Underbart.

Seriöst, my depression got cured while jag gick i paraden.

Första året jag gått utan att vara helt täckt av glitter efteråt though. Och det var inte lika trångt som det varit annars heller. Men kanske bara hade o göra med att jag gick i en lugnare del av paraden det här året eller ngt.

Europride is in Sweden this year, Stockholm and Gothenburg. Stockholm right now, and I’ll go to Gothenburg when it’s there. Yesterday was the opening for Pride Park, and I got to see Pia Sundhage as an opening speaker :)

In 2011, the Austrian artist Thomas Neuwirth created the fictional character Conchita Wurst. As a bearded diva, he won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 and became a global figurehead of the LGBTI community overnight.

Since then, the platinum-winning debut album Conchita (2015), the second long-player From Vienna With Love with the Wiener Symphoniker (2018), and the third studio album T.O.M. – Truth Over Magnitude (2019) with electro-pop and the new stage name WURST.

He has given concerts with orchestras at the Sydney Opera House, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Hamburg Laeiszhalle, with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the London Paladium and with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra at the Vienna Konzerthaus. An orchestra tour took him to Australia in early 2020.

Conchita WURST hosted the mega charity event Life Ball, the opening of the Wiener Festwochen and major TV music shows such as the Eurovision Song Contest, Free European Song Contest, Famemaker and the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards.

In addition to the musical focus, the artist repeatedly uses the media attention he has received to support socio-political concerns. Conchita was Ambassador of EuroPride Vienna in 2019, has been Stonewall Day Ambassador since 2018 and supports the Free & Equal campaign of the United Nations.
