im bored and i disliked the stone roses documentary, 'the stone roses: made of stone." the gif above does a better job at explaining how the band functioned, its dynamics, and gives more context than that godamn documentary.

first off, why are we showing the documentary maker?? babe i didn't come for u i came for stone roses. more specifically i came to see reni and to see how he aged (like fine wine may i add, im adding him to my harem of rockstar husbands in delululand). he goes on about oh its such an honor to make this documentary, will it all work out, Uh Oh Something Happened!, blah blah blah. did i ask? no bbg, so move along.

pretty much no interviews with the band, (no reni ones..) quick asides to the camera, at most, when they're all greeting each other or during rehearsal.

and speaking of the FUCKING. REHEARSALS. it went on and on and on of them rehearsing in this little british countryside cottage for much more time than i'd liked it to. it was all shot in black and white. for what reason? not sure. did it add anything to it? no. the average millenial at work.

yk what was also shot in black and white? the sequence where everyone was waiting in line for tickets. this went on for about 20 minutes, absolutely riveting! fan testimonials are great but u should know when to call it quits and move the fuck on hon.

they glossed over when they played their free show, if anything they should have showed way more of that since they changed their songs while in rehearsal it sounded like the studio albums (which is what we've all heard like thanks for that you've done as good a job as spotify)

then they got to the part of the reunion tour where reni walked offstage and ian brown called him a cunt (shut up ian no one likes u and reni was the backbone of that band (thats why when he left u disbanded)). they had a GREAT MOMENT of some FUCKING DRAMA and they covered it for a few minutes and immediately cut to the documentary maker and how he was going to finish the documentary (and the stone roses tour i guess, must have been an afterthought for him)

in between all of these shitty sequences was context for the band, how they formed, where, what they were a part, what they mean to people, their career. they did this poorly. they hardly explained the legal trouble they were in, explaining what they did, but not WHY they did it or the aftermath and court proceedings. they didn't cover any of the band members backgrounds (yet again no reni content), next to nothing on the bands evolution, and hardly any bts pictures of videos.

you could get more from the gif above or their wikipedia page ffs. stone roses: war and peace is a very good book for the average stone roses superfan and a better use of time than watching this shit documentary. and yes i get its more supposed to document their reunion, but they didn't even manage to do that

TLDR: shit sucked ass. gimme more reni bts pics and vids, more FUCKING CONTEXT OF THE BAND, and uhhh don't be so shit and record everything in black and white for no reasion just bc ur a hack cinematographer who i lost almost 2 hours of my life to.
