Alot of people make the horror for themselves, it's kinda cute. Like being scared to play Resident Evil (any of them) or Bioshock.
Ya really do just have to make the horror of the unknown for yourselves. Trust me, none of these games are scary, they're just action comedies pretending to be serious. They have themes of horror, but they will never explore them.

the fact that the ghoul from the fallout show is named cooper howard (or was named) could not make it more blatantly obvious what todd's hand in production was.

are there any streamers/types of streams you think any of the science team would enjoy watching besides gordon? benry strikes me as a jerma type fellow...
see, my scope for this is limited, as most of the streamers I watch are in RTVS, and I'm not gonna open up the question of whether they can exist here :P
Jerma's an easy answer. I think anybody can watch Jerma, Benrey included. Vinesauce, too-- Vinesauce is a big influence for when Bubby streams with Benrey. I've alluded to Bubby watching a couple vtubers, though I don't have any real life ones in mind. He's been mistaken for one before, and when he looked to see what all the fuss what about, he found it pretty fun. And, of course, Bubby watches speedruns.
Benrey probably knows a bunch of avant garde (read: fuckin weird) channels to tune into. I know that I love when the RTVS crew does stranger concept streams, like Scorpy's take on Chronicles of Benry (which I could write a fucking essay about) or that time Wayne had a stream that was like thirty minutes of him sitting in frustrated silence, leaving the field of view, and returning with a Little Caesars order that he devoured like a beast while music played like a French romance film. That one was Wayne, right? Changed my life. I refer to this group as an artist collective without a hint of irony. I may not be willing to confirm the existence of RTVS inside the canon of HLVRAI and/or my fanfiction but I like to think that somehow Gameclam still exists.
Despite his earlier claims that watching people play video games isn't interesting, Tommy enjoys Pokemon streams, as does Darnold. Shiny Hunting streams are the right balance of idle and exciting, and Tommy has been emotionally devastated by Nuzlockes. Not in the way that makes him avoid them, though. The man likes TV dramas, he knows his emotional limits. Darnold, on the other hand, sometimes gets caught up in the philosophical question of how much he can emotionally distance himself from a pixelated RPG monster when they themselves are made of computer code. He's mostly okay. Probably.

Characteristics:
Catperson and fucked up about it
Big fan of killing, misery, and death
Source of most of their source material’s conflict because they like playing pranks
Gamer, but only if death traps count as games
Propaganda: [character e3] makes me so mentally ill. [consume the source material] please its so incredibly good (and [they] have a genuinely fascinating philosophy on pain and love + i had to restrain myself from spoilers) (seriously it looks like ur standard [type of source material] but i prommy its actually really well [executed])

IGN reports that Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will all be skipping E3 2023.
Microsoft will reportedly be doing a summer showcase (with some PR speak about timing that translates to ‘probably right around when E3 traditionally is,’) per the article, but not having booth presence.
Microsoft is ON THE ESA BOARD, so if the report is accurate and they’re skipping it is DEAD dead.

I find it kind of amazing that sometimes a composer’s personal style can be so strong that you can just hear them across games, even if those games aren’t even in the same series. I’ve had a Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion playthrough going on in the background while doing other things the past couple of days and every time I zone out I start to think of The World Ends With You entirely because Takeharu Ishimoto’s musical composition style is so distinct. The games have nothing to do with each other and aren’t even trying to hit the same tone, but my brain can’t help connecting the two. Even the soundtrack being remastered 15 years later in CCFF7R still makes me think of TWEWY before anything else
Which is kind of ironic given how nonplussed I am by the graphics. I know, I know, technically speaking they’re a massive upgrade from the PSP game, but... there’s no style to them. They’re just more generic “everything nowadays has to be hyperrealistic” visuals and I just find that I don’t care? It’s something that’s been bothering me a lot about a lot of modern games, something that caught my eye when trailers for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet started coming out and, while still stylized, they were clearly going for more “realistic” texturing. Now, I actually don’t mind the Pokemon texturing, it reminds me of the graphics jump from Kingdom Hearts DDD to 0.2/KH3, but it’s what made me start thinking about how many series are losing their identity to chase “realism” in their graphics
Like I said, I actually like the KH3 style, I think it finds a really good middle ground between Nomura’s distinct art style and more detailed textures (not necessarily realistic) that also incorporates cues from modern 3D Disney/Pixar style to allow the series to keep its distinct visual appearance while moving forward with current technologies. I think that Pokemon can do well going in that direction if it can keep its style, it’s just that Scarlet/Violet end up being really inconsistent with it (from my experience. Character/Pokemon models are great, but the environments don’t mesh and sacrifice a lot of the whimsy from past games, like the glowing mushroom forest in Sword/Shield, to make more “realistic” locales). But Final Fantasy keeps consistently going too hard in the realistic direction (to make it seem more mature, perhaps?) that I just end up tuning it out
I think that might have a lot to do with why every time we get FFXVI info I just look at it like “that looks neat” and then forget it ten minutes later. There’s nothing stylistically distinct for me to hold onto even though it’s technically above average, while with something like NTWEWY, every trailer stuck in my head. Style is important, at least to me, and I feel like a lot of modern games are losing sight of it in favor of chasing imagery to show off their graphics technology, with the end result being that far too many games just look the same and blend together when I try to recall them

So I dreamt up a whole trailer for Silksong and it was ridiculous:
First of all, the trailer music was Dung Defender's theme. Dunno why, but fitting, somehow. So play that in the background while you read this post.
Second of all, at some point, it said Solksing instead of Silksong.
Tumblr media
Third, it was revealed in E3, and as soon as the trailer started everyone knew why it had taken so long because the entire game was in 3D.
Tumblr media
The overall tone was much less serious than that of Hollow Knight, and there were a lot of cutscenes and dialogue where Hornet reacted to past and present stuff.
Tumblr media
I feel the need to point out that Hornet was specifically upset that Lurien's giggle was squiggly.
Tumblr media
The Pale King's ghost hovered around a disgruntled Hornet like a genie giving shitty life advice.
Tumblr media
Some cutscenes were in an entirely different art style, one of which depicted Hornet as some sort of forest rabbit sprite.
Tumblr media
Also, Hornet would be very disappointed if a quest was failed, which made players feel bad.
Tumblr media
And that's about it.
I spent my bleary morning hours thinking about "squiggly giggle".
