Common causes of Refrigerator Failure
Your refrigerator is one of the most important appliances in your home, and when it breaks down, it can be a real pain. There are a few common causes of refrigerator failure that you should be aware of, so that you can troubleshoot the problem and get your fridge up and running again as soon as possible.
1. Dirty Condenser Coils
One of the most important parts of your fridge is the condenser coils. These coils are responsible for cooling the refrigerant, and if they become clogged with dirt or dust, they will not be able to do their job properly. As a result, the refrigerant will not be cooled properly, and your fridge will eventually break down. You can help prevent this by regularly cleaning your condenser coils. A simple way to do this is to use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove any dirt or dust that has accumulated on the coils. You should also make sure that there is adequate airflow around the coils so that they can function properly. With appliance repair in Manhattan NY, you can prolong the life of your refrigerator.
Loose Door Gaskets
Another common problem that can cause your fridge to break down is loose door gaskets. The gaskets are responsible for sealing the doors of your fridge, and if they become loose, they will not be able to do their job properly. As a result, cold air will escape from your fridge, and it will eventually break down.
      3. Defective Thermostat
A defective thermostat is another common reason for refrigerator failure. The thermostat is responsible for regulating the temperature inside your fridge, and if it becomes defective, it will not be able to do its job properly. As a result, your fridge will eventually break down.
     4. Clogged Drain Line
Among the many potential fridge problems that can arise, a clogged drain line is one of the most common. The drain line is responsible for carrying away excess water from your fridge, and if it becomes clogged, it will not be able to do its job properly. As a result, water will build up inside your fridge, and it will eventually break down. fortunately, clearing a clogged drain line is typically a fairly easy fix. simply remove the drain cover and use a plunger to clear any debris that is blocking the line. once the line is clear, replace the cover and test the fridge to see if it is working properly again. if the problem persists, however, it may be necessary to call a professional for help.
     5. Broken Evaporator Fan
A broken evaporator fan is another common reason for refrigerator failure. The evaporator fan is responsible for circulating air inside your fridge, and if it becomes broken, it will not be able to do its job properly. As a result, your fridge will eventually break down.
Conclusion
If you are experiencing problems with your refrigerator, it is important to find a reliable and experienced repair service. Appliance Doctor providing quality repairs for all major appliances for years. We understand the importance of getting your refrigerator back up and running as quickly as possible, so we offer same-day service in most cases. Why not give us a call today? manhattan, ny, 2020
you sighed, sinking yourself lower into the water. your muscles relaxing in the warm, lavender scented water. you let your head rest against the back of the tub and closed your eyes, listening to your music playing softly throughout the bathroom. this was definitely what you needed after dealing with fourth graders all week. a hot, lavender scented, bubble bath, a juice box, and some soft music definitely relaxed your tense muscles.
you were so lost in your own world you didn’t even hear the footsteps coming up the stairs and into the bathroom. your eyes flew open when a pair of lips peppering light kisses on your shoulder startled you, almost making you drop your juice box and scream. you spun around quickly to see bucky staring back at you, a smirk playing at his lips. “calm down, it’s me.” he chuckled.
you rolled your eyes and slumped back into the water. “i could’ve shot you or something,” you muttered, closing your eyes and leaning back. “oh, yeah?” you hummed in response, sipping from the straw in your juice box. bucky’s hand resting on the nape of your neck. you could practically hear the smirk in bucky’s voice as he spoke, “with what gun?” he asked.
you pouted and craned your neck to look at him, “can you just let me be great, just once?” bucky smiled widely, the corner of his eyes crinkling. he pressed a kiss to your cheek and nodded. “sure, but just once.” he chuckled, he leaned over and kissed your lips softly.
he squinted and licked his lips once he pulled away, his head cocking to the side. “apple?” he asked and you nodded. “am apple a day keeps the doctor away,” you said, taking another sip and turning to rest your head back on the edge of the bath.
bucky snorted and shook his head, “i don’t think that’s how that works, doll.” you shrugged and toyed with the straw. bucky stood up from his crouched position by the bathtub and smiled down at you.
“meet me downstairs when you’re done, doll, i have somethin’ i wanna show you.” you nodded and puckered your lips at him and he rolled his eyes before leaning down to kiss you once more. you smiled against his lips and pecked him once more before pulling away.
“i’ll be down soon.” you informed and he nodded before making his way to the door.
you waited a beat before finally draining the water and making your way over to the shower to rinse off the bubbles. once you were finished, you patted yourself dry and wrapped your towel around yourself, padding into your bedroom. you walked into the room to see a box with a bright red bow wrapped around it sitting on your bed. a small place card sat on top of the box, the words ‘wear me’ written across it. you walked over to it, taking a seat on the bed and setting the box on your lap. untying the bow and opening the box, you pulled out it’s contents. you ran your hands over the fabric, it was incredibly soft. you smiled softly to yourself, shaking your head.
it was the long sleeve, satin dress you’d been telling bucky about for the past month. one day, after work, you’d stopped by the small boutique when the dress had caught your eye in the shop's window. once inside, you made a beeline for the dress only to realize there weren’t any in your size.
“oh, buck, i’m so lucky to have you,” you muttered to yourself, holding the material to your chest. you giggled to yourself and started to get ready for whatever bucky had planned for the night. you moisturized your skin and quickly slipped into the dress. you walked over to the floor length mirror and did a few spins, smirking at yourself. you looked so fucking good in the dress and it fit perfectly. it hugged your form in a way you knew bucky would love. you tugged your hair out of the bun you’d put it in before your bath and ran a brush through it a few times before you slipped on a pair of heels. you didn’t even bother with your makeup since it still looked pretty good. you made your way down the stairs and you could see bucky walk over to the bottom of the stairs. his smile grew wider as he watched you descend down the steps.
“wow,” he breathed, taking in your form, “you look so beautiful.” you grinned in response and placed a kiss on his stubbled cheek.
“thank you, honey. you look very handsome.” he was wearing one of your favorite suits, the black suit with the white pinstripes. bucky had grown his hair out, claiming it was because he was too busy for haircuts.
bucky blushed, his hair falling into his face when he dropped his head. you smiled, almost three years together and you still made each other blush. shaking his head, bucky slipped his hand in yours and led you a foot away from the stairs. he picked up his tie from the end table and smiled softly at you, you immediately knew what he wanted and you nodded.
“it’s only for a second, doll.” he assured, using the tie as a blindfold. you felt bucky’s chest brush against your back when he finished, his hands resting on your waist as he guided you through your home.
you came to a stop and you were just itching to take off the blindfold, bucky chuckling in your ear. he pressed a kiss to your cheek and removed the tie. you blinked to readjust to the lighting and your breath caught in your throat when at the scene in front of you. bucky wrapped his arms around your waist and brought you closer to his chest, his chin dropping to rest on your shoulder.
you reached out, your fingers lightly brushing against the canvas. tears welled up in your eyes. to your left was a painting of your dad, your siblings, pepper, and you. it was the same picture you’d taken a few hours before the christmas disaster back in brooklyn. and to your right, was a picture you’d thought was gone forever.
it was a portrait of your dad, you, and your mom. the picture had been taken a week before she’d passed away.
you took a deep breath to calm yourself before you turned around in bucky’s arms. he pulled you in closer to his chest, his hand rubbing soothing circles on your back. you pulled back to look up at him, god, you’d never loved him more at that moment.
“i remember how you used to carry that picture with you everywhere you went.” bucky smiled, “and, you were so upset when it was lost during our move and ever since then i’d been working on that painting. that way, you’d never lose it again.” he confessed, blue eyes staring behind you. “then, i felt guilty for not including the rest of your family, hence the two paintings.”
you shook your head at the man in front of you. he was so thoughtful, so caring, and so fucking good to you. you had no clue what you did to deserve him. ever since you started dating that man had been doing his best to give you the world and he’d been doing a damn good job of it.
“i love you,” your voice coming out softly, barely able to be heard.
bucky just grinned, “i love you, too, doll. now, come on. i made all of your favorites.”
bucky grabbed your hand and led you over to the dining table. bucky pulled out your chair for you and you took your seat, smiling when he placed a kiss on top of your head. bucky set a glass of champagne in front of you and you thanked him.
you ate dinner, talking, and laughing with bucky to pass the time. when you finished, you helped bucky clean up your dishes and put them away. you were sitting on your couch, feet in bucky’s lap. you were listening to bucky humming along to the song playing through the speakers. you smiled softly, you stood up and reached for bucky’s hand.
“dance with me?” you asked and bucky smiled. “of course, doll.”
bucky stood and took your head, spinning you around and pulling you into his chest. you giggled and rested your head on his shoulder. you closed your eyes and hummed along to the song. bucky’s hand tightened around your waist, you lifted your head to look at bucky. his eyes shining with an unknown emotion.
“doll,” bucky started, “you are the utmost beautiful woman i have ever laid my eyes on. you are the most patient, kind, and amazing person on this planet. i didn’t deserve you, hell, i don’t deserve you. yet, you were willing to give me another chance to love you the right way and cherish you. and, i have to be honest, i never thought we would get this far, but we did, sweetheart. i have never wanted to spend the rest of my life with someone other than you. you complete me, you’re my better half, doll. i love you with every fiber of my being and then some. you have my heart, forever.”
his eyes were burning with passion, unshed tears filling both of your eyes as you stared back at one another. your breath shaky as you anticipated what was yet to come. already wanting to shout your answer to the rooftops and let everyone know how much you loved james buchanan barnes.
“you took something so broken and shattered and put it all back together again, piece by piece. i never knew how empty i was until i saw you again in that bar and even after i hurt you, you still let me back in and you still loved me.” bucky let out the breath he didn’t know he was holding.
bucky took a step back from you, dropping to one knee. his hand fishing around in his pocket, he pulled out a small velvet box. with a shaky breath, he opened it. he stared up at you, fear evident in his gorgeous eyes, but his undying love for you more present than ever.
“marry me?” he whispered. you weren’t even able to form a coherent sentence, much less a word. you rapidly nodded your head and immediately pulled him to his feet, his hands cupping your cheeks and pulling you in for a loving kiss, one that held so many emotions. a kiss that stated how much you loved each other, a kiss that said everything you couldn’t. bucky pulled away, resting his forehead against yours. bucky brought your hand up to his lips, placing a lingering kiss on the back of your hand. you hadn’t even noticed bucky slipped the ring on your finger.
“your gifts totally make mine look shitty,” you pouted and bucky chuckled. he wrapped you in his arms and sighed, “waking up next to you everyday is the best gift i could ask for.” you chuckled, nuzzling deeper into his chest. “i could say the same.”
bucky rubbed your arms and pulled you back over to the couch, handing you your same untouched glass of champagne from earlier in the night. you shook your head and bucky frowned.
“doll, what’s wrong?” a concerned look on bucky’s face as he set the glass back down on the coffee table. you shook your head and smiled up at him. he quickly moved to sit on the couch with you, taking your hands in his. bucky’s brow furrowed as he stared deeply at you, wondering why you hadn’t touched your drink. he knew it was one of your favorites.
bucky’s expression became unreadable and you gulped. “wait, are you,” he trailed off, searching your face for the answer.
“ten weeks,” you bit your lip. bucky broke out into a huge grin. “jeez, woman. you just don’t know when to quit making me smile, do you?”
“you’re such a dork,” you shook your head, resting your head on bucky’s shoulder. “i’m your dork.” he mumbled before placing a kiss to the top of your head, his hand resting on your belly. you were going to marry the love of your life and you were carrying his child, everything was perfect.
you lifted your head to place a quick peck to bucky’s lips. “happy anniversary, bucky.”
he smiled in return, bringing you closer. “happy anniversary, doll.”

Steve Rogers is a competent man; a man of many talents, he likes to think. A man that has transcended every generation of music and made it his own.
...Okay, maybe that statement is an exaggeration. To his credit, he took many courses on music throughout college and has produced and written music of all genres; and has gained a newfound understanding through learning and experiences. So, he is a competent man with many accomplishments, but why does it feel like he never has any of that in his corner whenever he sits across from his old pal and business partner, Tony Stark?
“Steve,” he starts, removing his dark shades with a deep sigh. “I'm worried. Everything you've been producing has been good, it has been--”
“But it’s not good enough. I know.” He does know, he’s constantly being told by the rest of the board. Their words are as annoying as a poorly written chorus.
Tony rubs his eyes with his thumb and index, a clear sign that he’s exhausted. Working in the music industry can do that to a person, drain their energy until they’re practically dead.
He remembers a time when it wasn’t like that. When they felt excitement every time they found the perfect chord, or the perfect lyric. When they’d be able to sit in front of their workstation and record and edit without a problem. But that was before the board got involved, before money began to be an issue.
He wonders if Tony remembers too.
“Look, the board isn’t happy.” Tony stops trying to wipe away his exhaustion—realizing it’s impossible—to look him in the eye. “I’m trying my best to keep them off your ass, but I don’t know how long I can keep doing that.” He leans forward, his elbows resting on his desk made out of glass. “If you can bring me one song, just one simple minded song that they will like, you can continue doing your emo ballads that you like so much.”
He knows Tony isn’t trying to be condescending, but his jaw still ticks. “And what if I fail?”
Tony makes a face, the kind of face that looks like he just bit into a piece of fruit and was completely disappointed to find it isn’t as sweet as he hoped. “You’re talented, Steve. If you weren’t, I wouldn’t have brought you on board all those years ago. I have faith that you can do it.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t.”
“Maybe.” Tony leans back, making the chair squeak loudly. “But I do. Why don’t you take the next couple of weeks off to work on new material, huh? Spend some time with your kid while you’re at it. I know you’ll find a spark of inspiration somewhere.”

You sit. Tense. Unsure.
Brock taps his fingers against his desk, listening to the music playing from his speakers—your song. It’s catchy, the beat steady and rhythmic; the melody and harmony twirling and complementing each other well, and one of your best songs yet. You spent countless nights working on it; even risked getting noise complaints from your neighbors (and a scolding from Daisy) and landlord to make it the best it could be. The people you showed it to said it was amazing, the next summer hit, but Brock’s expression isn’t exactly agreeing with their lingering compliments.
“We got drunken hearts and we're dancing more than enough—“
The song ends prematurely with a click from Brock. You don’t have to wait for him to open his mouth to know what he’s about to say—he hates it. “I’ve heard better from you when we were in college, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart. There it is. That stupid condescending term of endearment he used on everyone he thought wasn’t worth his time. Including you.
Why did you date him again?
Your eyebrow raises involuntarily. “If you listened to the—“
“No need. If the chorus didn’t catch my attention, then there’s no point.” He disconnects your phone from his computer and hands it back to you with a barely concealed grin. “Don’t you think you’re way out of your element here, sweetheart?”
You clench your fists. You really shouldn’t be surprised at how demeaning and rude he’s being. Brock has always been this way, even back in college. Most people let it slide because of his charming smile and very manipulative reassurance, yourself (unfortunately) included. It took many nights of crying and many therapy sessions to realize the kind of toxic person he was—is. “Excuse me?”
“I heard your jingle for Shadow insurance,” he coos, as if praising a child. “You should really stick to the jingle business, sweetheart, you’re good at! Besides, full fledged songs don’t seem to be your forte. Leave the real music production to the real men.”
The urge to slam your closed fist into his face grows with every word that he vomits. “You know what?” You pick up your bag and stuff your phone into it as you rise from your seat with every intent to storm out of his office. “This was a mistake.”
“Oh, come on! Don’t get all defensive! Are you on your menstrual—“
Before he can finish his abhorrish question you accidentally swing your bag with enough force and span to knock down his coffee all over his keyboard. “Oh my—oops. My bad.”
Brock lets out a frustrated shout, calling in his overworked assistant to clean up his desk. They run into the room alarmed, wide eyes roaming around the room before settling on you and then his boss.
“What are you doing just standing there, you moron? Clean this up!”
They let out a strangled sound, jumping on their feet. “Yessir!”
In the chaos of Brock calling his assistant an idiot as they wipe his desk with some kind of cloth—“That’s my cashmere sweater, you idiot! Can’t you do anything right?”—you walk out of his office with your head held high and fists shaking with barely concealed anger.

Episode 1: Parks as Public Health Infrastructure
Portland’s parks are one of my favorite things about the city. When I first moved here, I would take myself of drives just to go check out new parks; I’d walk around by myself and make mental notes, excited to share these spaces with other people in the future.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic, those parks have become even more valuable. I remember in April, my first trip out of the house post-lockdown was to go for a walk at Pier Park in St. Johns. I remember in July, I hung out with some friends in Laurelhurst park, decompressing and enjoying the 9 PM sunset. I remember in August, hanging out with my mom and my sister in the Peninsula Park Rose Garden. These parks have always been there, but I think the pandemic has helped a lot of people appreciate their parks in new ways.
Tumblr media
Portland’s Mt. Tabor Park.
Portland owes many of its great parks to the Olmstead Brother’s plan. In the early 1900’s, the city commissioned the Olmstead Brothers, sons of famed landscape architect and designer of New York City’s Central Park, Frederick Law Olmstead, to design a system of parks for the growing city. Peninsula Park, Sellwood Park, Laurelhurst Park, Mount Tabor Park and Forest Park were all sited and designed in reference to the Olmstead plan.
Tumblr media
An Illustration from the Olmstead Plan, which can be found in the book “Legacy of the Olmsted Brothers in Portland” by William Hawkins.
When Olmstead designed Central Park for a growing city on Manhattan island, he did so understanding that parks were a critical piece of public health infrastructure. Looking at a map of Manhattan today, it seems inconceivable that 1.3 square miles of developable land would be set aside as a park, but Olmstead’s plan found support from a New York City that was recovering from deadly Cholera epidemics in 1832 and 1849 that killed over 8,500 people- bringing the issue even closer to home, Olmstead’s first child died of Cholera in 1860.
The precursor to the germ theory of disease transmission was the “miasma” theory; people believed that disease was caused by odors and vapors from decomposing garbage and sewage. It was also widely accepted that plants and sunlight were capable of sanitizing “miasmic” or “vitious” air. Olmstead’s Central Park was designed to help prevent future epidemics by purifying the city’s air and offering city-dwellers the opportunity to restore their health.
Olmstead wrote: “Opportunity and inducement to escape at frequent intervals from the confined and vitiated air of the commercial quarter, and to supply the lungs with air screened and purified by trees and recently acted on by sunlight, together with opportunity and inducement to escape from situations requiring vigilance, wariness, and activity towards other men- if these could be supplied economically, our problem would be solved.” The emergency and gravity of the cholera epidemics gave Olmstead and city politicians the political license to carry forward big ideas like Central Park, providing a public benefit and taking steps to prevent the next pandemic (although modern science tells us that plants don’t exactly sanitize the air the way they believed).
Tumblr media
Hudson River School painter Asher Durand painted this portrait of his children in an upstate NY Apple Orchard in 1832; continuing the long-standing tradition of wealthy people escaping to their idyllic countryside homes when pandemics strike in urban areas. Given the year of this painting it’s not hard to connect it to the 1832 Cholera epidemic in New York- bet you didn’t think I was going to sneak art history into this one.
Tumblr media
It’s worth remembering that Central Park is a completely manufactured landscape. Marshes were drained and streams were created completely artificially. From the Central Park Conservancy, “its only natural feature is the metamorphic rock, called Manhattan schist, that’s approximately 450 million years old.” The rest is a work of art- deliberately crafted from the natural medium.
The tie between Central Park and public health goes deeper considering that the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, across from the Guggenheim Museum, actually predates the rest of Central Park,* and was the first major attempt made to bring clean water to the growing city. Even before germ theory, public health officials could tell that there was some connection between water and cholera, and set about building an aqueduct to deliver water from the Croton Reservoir 22 miles to the north.
In an age when most New Yorkers didn’t have access to running water, the clean water that could be found in the park was another draw. An 1870 guidebook to the park encouraged visitors to ‘drink their fill’ from the ‘inexhaustible cisterns.’ Ornate drinking fountains were placed around the park, including one near The Mall that used underground blocks of ice to cool the water.
Tumblr media
The Bethesda Fountain, just south of The Lake, was built as a monument to the completion of the Croton Aqueduct. This statue was the first major art commission in New York City granted to a woman. Stebbins was also a lesbian and used her partner Charlotte Cushman as a model for the statue; although in 1840′s language they were just two female best friends who lived together for many years and for some reason never married men.
The huge supply of fresh, clean water suddenly available in Central Park allowed New York city planners to begin delivering running water to homes in Greenwich Village, Gramercy Park, and Chelsea, neighborhoods that were initially upper-class suburbs created for people trying to escape the overcrowded tenements in the areas around the Five Points. An 1822 yellow fever epidemic provided the first major wave of resettlement from lower Manhattan to Greenwich Village, the second was spurred by a building boom that occurred as another wave of people tried to escape the tenements for safer living conditions during the 1832 cholera epidemic. The city spread farther north to Gramercy Park in 1842 when the reservoir was complete.
Tumblr media
This house at 77 Beford Street is considered to be the oldest original home in Greenwich Village, depending on how you define the boundaries of the village, and depending on if you count the fact that it was significantly upgraded in 1832 as a mark against its authenticity. Rabbit hole, here.
As New Yorkers with the means to do so moved further north and closer to Central Park, the Park seems to have had a sort of “greening” influence on the rest of the city, spreading clean air and water southwards into the working class and immigrant communities in the city. In the 1860’s and 70’s, the city of New York took its first steps towards operating as a housing authority, passing laws requiring that tenements begin offering indoor, running water and at least one window to the outdoors in each unit (creating the dog-bone or dumbbell shape we know today). In an effort to bring running water and centralized sewage service further south into Manhattan, the city began tearing up the streets and installing sewer pipes. When the streets were repaved, they used materials like concrete and asphalt to allow for weekly street washing and sweeping services. City planners began including space for alleyways in their designs, so that trash didn’t have to be placed directly on the street.*
Tumblr media
This photo by Jacob Riis from “How The Other Half Lives” was an expose on tenement living conditions. Homes were often extremely poorly ventilated, often without any kind of exterior doors or windows. Sinks were shared among many residents, and bathrooms were outdoor outhouses.
This article from the Central Park Conservancy argues that we should think of Central Park itself as a critical piece of public health infrastructure. Olmstead’s park provided clean air and water to New York residents at a time when many didn’t have running water, a window to the outside, or a way to escape the garbage and sewage in the streets. But as time went on, the Park not only provided a place to escape to, but a place that established an ideal: that clean water and air should be brought to all parts of the city for all citizens to enjoy, not just within the 1.3 square miles of park boundary- and over time, the city housing authority made steps toward that ideal.
“All these influences have a strangely powerful force,” writes an 1870’s guidebook to Central Park, about the power of a visit to the Park. “They compel the soul. It is almost impossible to do any thing in the park but rest, breath sweet air, and enjoy.”
Tumblr media
“Do your Part” Coronavirus warning sign at Mt. Tabor over the summer.
I’m interested to see the ways in which Portland residents are enjoying those same benefits today, in light of a global pandemic. I’m also interested to see the other ways this cycle repeats. Will we see a post-pandemic return to the suburbs as people retreat from densely-populated and “unclean” urban areas? What kinds of infrastructural changes will be made to our built environment as city planners and urban designers imagine the next public health crisis?
Liner Notes:
*RE: reservoir- kind of. There was an older, rectangular reservoir built in 1842 that was later replaced  in 1860 with a more organic shaped reservoir designed to better fit in with the nature-inspired elements of central park, and that reservoir has also been replaced by the one there today. I could have been more careful about this in writing but I think it’s safe to say that a reservoir (of some shape) occupied that spot (in general) in the park since 1842.
*RE Alleyways- Yes, they began making space for alleyways, but large sections of Manhattan were built before this need for alleys was realized, and they couldn’t exactly go back and put them there, so there are virtually no alleyways in Manhattan; most are in other boroughs.
I acknowledge that New York City has a rocky history with parks; see Jane Jacob’s description of parks as places that provide cover for youth to bully other youth; see Robert Moses’ time in New York City and the overt racism he displayed when choosing the locations of parks and sites for playground equipment. Even within the 1840s, there would have been race and class dynamics at play, too- not everyone would have had equitable access to a public health resource like Central Park. This warrants its own investigation and I felt like I didn’t have the sources nor the scope to include that here. If anyone has any sources that talk about access to parks in the 19th and early 20th century, I’d like to know!

Cleanliness is an important factor for many people in New York when they decide where to shop and conduct business. Maintaining a clean parking lot enhances your property image and creates a professional image. Aside from the fact that parking lot and street sweeping is a best management practice, it’s an essential factor in positioning your Brooklyn based business. Think about how much effort you put into providing a positive customer experience. Have you considered that your parking lot is the first interaction customers have with your property? It can play a large role in a customer’s first impression of your NYC business.
Benefits of parking lot and street sweeping in NYC, NY include:
Discourages Littering: People are less likely to throw trash on the ground in a clean parking lot; the dirtier the area, the less remorse people have about littering.
Prevents Erosion: In  New York we have a lot of sand and dirt living in the desert. This sand and dirt combined with other debris will eventually break down the asphalt pavement of your parking lot and streets. Over time causing a much more expensive fix compared to parking lot sweeping and maintenance services.
Minimizes Pollution: Removing trash prevents it from being washed into storm water drains and canals.
Deters Rodents: The accumulation of trash becomes a feeding ground for bugs, rodents and other animals.
Avoids Lawsuits: Debris left in a parking lot can cause injuries to your customers, as well as cause damage to their vehicles. Potentially leading to a lawsuit and liability claims.

What You Can Do to Maintain You’re Drains after a Professional Cleaning
Tumblr media
Consider the things that go down your drains every day. Several kinds of grease and food particles are flushed down the drain when you wash dishes. Hair, soap, and filth are carried through your home's plumbing system when you take a shower. The buildup in your shower and sink drains may cause havoc on your home's sewage lines and pipes if you don't periodically clean them out. Regular drain cleaning should be scheduled in order to prevent future issues and home damage.
Here are some simple things you can do to keep your drains flowing smoothly:
Avoid Pouring Grease and Oil down the Drain
One of the most common causes of drain clogs is the buildup of grease and oil. While it may be tempting to pour cooking oil or grease down the drain, it can quickly solidify and create blockages. Instead, dispose of these substances in a separate container and throw them away with your regular trash.
Use Drain Strainers
Another way to prevent clogs is to use drain strainers in your sinks and shower drains. These inexpensive devices catch hair, food particles, and other debris before they can enter your pipes and cause blockages. Make sure to clean the strainers regularly to prevent buildup.
Flush Drains with Hot Water
Running hot water down your drains once a week can help break up any buildup that may be forming. This is especially important for kitchen sinks and garbage disposals, which are more prone to grease and food buildup. Simply run hot water down the drain for a few minutes to help flush out any potential clogs.
Also read Fix Any Leakage in Sewer Pipes Immediately
Use Natural Drain Cleaners
While chemical drain cleaners can be effective at removing clogs, they can also be harsh on your pipes and cause damage over time. Instead, consider using natural drain cleaners like baking soda and vinegar. Simply pour a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of vinegar. Let it sit for a few minutes before flushing the drain with hot water.
Avoid Flushing Non-Flushable Items
Toilets are another common source of drain clogs, especially when non-flushable items like baby wipes, feminine hygiene products, and cotton swabs are flushed down the toilet. Make sure to only flush toilet paper and human waste to prevent clogs from forming.
Schedule Regular Drain Cleaning
Finally, scheduling regular drain cleaning with a professional plumber can help prevent clogs and ensure that your drains are functioning properly. A plumber can use specialized tools and techniques to remove any buildup that may be forming and identify any potential issues before they become major problems.
By following these simple tips, you can help maintain your drains after professional cleaning and prevent future clogs and buildup. Remember, taking care of your plumbing is an important part of home maintenance and can save you money in the long run by preventing costly repairs. If you do experience a clog or plumbing issue, don't hesitate to contact a professional plumber for help.
If you are looking for dependable, affordable, and quality plumbing services in Manhattan NY from exceptional professionals, call NYC Drain Cleaning. We are known for our skillful and friendly service. We can perform any plumbing work, no matter how big or too small the maintenance or repair job.

✕ — isn’t that shiklah wandering the streets of new york? civilians know them as queen of the undead and see them as an anti-hero (or villain depending the day,,, yike). as far as i know, the one thousand+ year old stands with the legion of monsters & howling commandos and are rumoured to be pretty authoritative & cavalier. ( priyanka chopra /demi-girl / she/they )
Tumblr media
{ trigger warnings : coma mention, war, sort-of-not-really-cannibalism (since u kno, demon, but still human eating), torture, medical/experiments  }
everyone say hello to my monster!baby, shiklah! she is the literal light of my life and i can only hope i do her justice. sooo here we go.
I. : INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION: //
shiklah hasn’t been around in the comics for too long. and all her appearances in marvel are entirely comic based
so this rendition of her is going to be based on that, with my own head canons filling in the gaps along the way to make her a fully fleshed out character
II. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: //
age: old. really fucking old. she was alive before the first humans.
gender: demigirl. her war demon form is gender neutral. she wears female human skin, however.
height: 10’3” in true form, 5’8” in humanoid form
species: succubus, sorceress
occupation: succubus queen, queen of the undead, queen of the underworld, queen of monstropolis
place of birth: the arabian peninsula
citizenship: arabian
marital status: married (two polyamorous marriages)
orientation: pansexual, panromantic, and polyamorous
pre-coma family: mother and father, names unknown (deceased); amjad, brother (deceased); baqir, brother (deceased); jenny, cousin (alive and a fucking badass)
children: cathan, adopted son (species: demon who prefers a werewolf form, sorcerer)
pets: bug, her pet dragon, who flies and breathes fire. he’s a good boy.
affiliation: leader of the legion of monsters
base of operations: monster metropolis (otherwise known as monstropolis), morlock tunnels, manhattan, NY
moral alignment: lawful evil
III. HISTORICAL INFORMATION: //
before humans were even around, shiklah and her family ruled the monster world. but the vampires wanted to overthrow their family. cue a war that lasted centuries and saw the coming of man. aka a long ass fucking war. my poor baby.
during the war against the vampires, shiklah’s kingdom had fallen, and her and her father witnessed the deaths of shiklah’s two brothers.
her father, in a,,,,, stroke of,,,, genius? well. a stroke of something. decided to lock shiklah up in a sarcophagus for. however long it’d take until the war ended or until she was going to be wed. surprise surprise.
well. dracula decides to hire deadpool to go wake up shiklah. so they could be married and end this long ass war and finally have peace. things were going fine until deadpool gets into a fight with a minotaur and shiklah’s sarcophagus shatters, awakening her and bug.
IV. MODERN INFORMATION: //
in her short period of time being awake in the modern world, shiklah was nearly assassinated by blade, was captured by hydra, and captured by aim, both of which wanted to exploit her powers and experiment on her.
she also fell in love with wade who taught her how to acclimate to the modern world, about technology, and about popular culture
when humans brutally murdered a centuries-old monster who resided in monstropolis, an elder monster who was completely senile and not a threat to anyone, shiklah sort of. snapped. she tried to handle things with civility at first, going in front of the courts and asking for retribution for the cold blooded murder of her loyal friend.
when the courts laughed in her face and told shiklah that monsters aren’t protected under the criminal code, she realized humans really are horribly discriminatory, and declared war against them.
to stop shiklah from killing. everyone. wade went to get dracula, who came to find shiklah and proposed. the two were also married and shiklah took a temporary leave of her duties to pursue their relationship and learn how to rule as a fair ruler, not a forceful one. she realized she didnt like using her powers to rule her own citizens by force. proud of you, baby girl.
V. ABILITIES INFORMATION: //
succubus physiology
enhanced strength, speed, dexterity
supernatural beauty
royal-level mystical abilities
pheromones (my personal head canon, it hasn’t been written in the comics yet but her cousin jenny has succubus pheromones and it’d make sense shiklah does, too, as part of her supernatural beauty)
shapeshifting
hellfire/soulfire manipulation
enslavement beams,,, yike
life-force absorption
necromancy
VI. ADDTIONAL INFORMATION: //
i wont bore you with all of my myriad historical head canons about shiklah’s life before her millennia long sleep, they’ll probably come up as flashbacks in her threads anyhow, plus theres so  much time there to fill in that i’m sure shiklah will also tell me things as time goes on
what’s important to know about this though is that shiklah is, in many ways, very traditional. she loves donning a maid outfit and cleaning her entire palace. shes a forceful female ruler who’s still subjected at times to her thousands of years old preconceived notions of gender roles
she loves to party. she’s admitted to wade before that she throws parties with her monster friends all the time — one’s that are orgy ceremonies actually
she eats humans, particularly in her war form. it’s cool
she’s pretty naive to the ways of the modern world. wade fills her in on stuff, but it’s also wade, lmao. her perception of things in the modern era is very biased towards deadpools own views on things
she’s adorable sometimes? like. super scary evil murder demon baby who cracks jokes about the kardashians.
shes evil towards humans but she is a fair and just ruler to monsters. she doesn’t like asgardians because apparently her people were enslaved by them during a conflict thousands of years ago. this issue though was sort of resolved when her cousin jenny was tricked into starting a fight with jane foster, and the two ended up reconciling and becoming close
but she respects the inhumans and she respects mutants, especially ones whose powers altered their physical appearance
tbh she wants to mom every monster looking kid
she reads comics in the bath like a cutie
she also goes to conventions, especially comic conventions, where people think shes dressed in cosplay. their reaction to her answer, no, this is just the human skin i’m wearing for the day,” is her favourite thing
she loves bug more than anything else
consequently she loves sex almost as much as bug
blood k!nk~~~
she will kiss you and drain some of your life force. she will. it’ll give you a rush of adrenaline like nothing else and it really gets her off.
personally i HC that she was actually taken by hydra for a while and she was actually taken by aim for a while. she was weaponized by the former and experimented upon by the latter.
actually i have a lot of angst head canons for shiklah that’ll probably come out more in her threads and flashbacks too
she knows the x-men and some of the avengers and the fantastic 4 because they were at her wedding with wade????????
similarly, i imagine she knows most of the people he was on teams with or worked with, tbh. she probably loves the kinneys actually
she has a son she adopted, a five year old little demon sorcerer who she named cathan (in honour of the elder god, c’thon). he’s a little monster baby who uses his shapeshifting demon powers to stay in a werewolf humanoid demon form — because he was raised by wolves before shiklah rescued him
as a ruler of one of the dimensions of the underworld i imagine she also knows the other hell leaders such as dormammu, the hellstroms, mephisto, etc. but also other hellfire users like ghost rider.
shes evil but she has a big heart for the people she cares about. she has a bad tendency of prioritizing her needs and wants over what the people she loves needs or wants but she’s actively working on that, too
shes full of juxtapositions? which is why i love her. shes cunning in some ways but naive in others. shes evil to some but a darling to others. shes a war demon but also a housemaid. shes so complicated and diverse and i can’t wait to write her with you all!!!
— i think that’s about it for now?! shiklah is my BABE honestly. so hmu for all the plots because im sO EXCITED for her ok thanks fam ily <3

India Tankless Toilet Market to be dominated by Commercial segment through FY2027
Growing consumer awareness and modernization of washroom is expected to drive the demand for India tankless toilet market for the forecast period.
Tumblr media
According to TechSci Research report, “India Tankless Toilet Market By Application (Residential, Commercial), By Product Type (Wall-mounted, Floor-mounted), By Distribution Channel (Online, Offline), By Region, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, FY2027”, the India tankless toilet market is expected to grow at a rate of steady CAGR for the forecast period, FY2023-FY2027. Tankless toilets are the toilet options connected directly to the building water line and, therefore, do not require the water tanks attached. The tankless toilet uses high-pressured water to flush the waste from the toilet effectively. The high pressure is created by using an electrical pump that drains the water from the bowl at high speed, leaving a clean toilet bowl behind. Tankless toilets consume less space and are aesthetically appealing, which is the major reason for their high adoption in residential and commercial spaces. The major benefit of using a tankless toilet is its low profile and minimalistic design. Tankless toilets are certainly more stylish and trendier than traditional toilets; therefore are highly installed in newly constructed modern buildings. As the tankless toilets are attached to the wall, it takes up less space and can be fit anywhere to create space for other work. Tankless toilets make the bathroom more convenient as they free up bathroom spaces due to their compact size and higher efficiency. The bathroom could be used again almost immediately as the bowl gets refilled easily and rapidly. This helps in shortening the line outside the washroom and therefore is highly preferred in commercial spaces to accommodate many people. Tankless toilets are preferred over tank toilets as the actual toilet seat can be lifted according to the requirements without making any major adjustments. Unlike traditional toilets, tankless toilets witness fewer maintenance problems and need a smaller number of replacements to ensure proper functioning. The tankless toilets are compact, and these are likely to witness bowl overflow or leakage that, in turn, is expected to accelerate the market demand. Construction of new homes and buildings that are installing tankless toilets to enhance the appearance and reduce the water bill is expected to propel the market demand. Market players are adopting attractive marketing strategies for market expansion and surge sales.
However, the requirement of investments for the installation of tankless toilets and high pressure may restrain the India tankless toilet market growth for the forecast period.
Browse XX Figures spread through 70 Pages and an in-depth TOC on “India Tankless Toilet Market”.
https://www.techsciresearch.com/report/india-tankless-toilet-market/7848.html
India tankless toilet market is segmented into application, product type, distribution channel, regional distribution, and company. Based on application, the market is bifurcated into residential and commercial. The commercial segment is dominating the market and is expected to maintain its dominance throughout the forecast period, FY2023-FY2027. To efficiently and minimize water loss, commercial buildings are actively installing tankless toilets. The rise in the infrastructural development in the region, such as the construction of shopping malls, offices, hospitals, schools to satisfy the needs of the growing population, is significantly contributing to the India tankless toilet market growth.
Based on product type, the market is bifurcated into wall-mounted and floor-mounted. The wall-mounted tankless toilet is expected to witness substantial growth for the next five years. The wall-mounted toilet takes up less space, and the height can be adjusted according to the comfort and convenience of the user, thereby accelerating the demand for wall-mounted tankless toilets. Wall-mounted tankless toilets make the atmosphere airy and pleasant to smell, owing to their smell absorbing capacity.
TOTO India Industries Pvt. Ltd., American Standard India, Kohler India Corporation Private Limited., Sloan India Private Limited, Duravit India Pvt. Ltd., Geberit India, Villeroy & Boch, Contract India, Dyconn Faucet, Ove Decors Inc are the leading players operating in India tankless toilet market. Manufacturers are increasingly focusing on research and development process to fuel higher growth in the market.

“High-end investments by the market players to introduce innovative features in the tankless toilets such as noise reduction, heated seating, warm air dryer, hands-free automated flushing, spray massage, and air purification are expected to increase tankless toilet sales across the region. Market players are adopting other business models to attract customers, like online sales channels to boost the tankless toilet market. Availability of lucrative discounts and offers and free delivery and pick-up options to enhance the shopping experience of customers, which in turn is expected to propel the India tankless toilet market growth till FY2027” said Mr. Karan Chechi, Research Director with TechSci Research, a research-based global management consulting firm.
“India Tankless Toilet Market By Application (Residential, Commercial), By Product Type (Wall-mounted, Floor-mounted), By Distribution Channel (Online, Offline), By Region, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, FY2027” has evaluated the future growth potential of India tankless toilet market and provided statistics & information on market size, shares, structure and future market growth. How To Convert An Unsightly Tub Into A Gorgeous Walk-In Shower
Tumblr media
Whether you’re on team baths or team showers, you can’t deny the environmental consequences of taking baths. Because of this, most homeowners are now choosing to replace their bathtubs and converting them into showers.
Whether you’re doing it for added convenience or to give your bathroom a more up-to-date look, you can convert your tub into a shower with a little time and dedication.
Equipment Needed:
When replacing a tub with a walk-in shower, you will need a few tools, like a prybar, hammer, cordless drill, eye and ear protection, and some necessary plumbing tools. You will also require a prefabricated shower kit, caulk, a shower faucet, and a copper or PEX pipe.
Once you have the needed materials, you can get started on your project:
Tumblr media
Plan It Out:
If you are removing a tub, you need to choose a similar-sized shower stall with the same dimensions.
You will also need to make sure your municipality permits you to go ahead with the remodeling project since it may need a plumbing change. Contact your local permitting agency for their approval before you begin.
Remove The Tub Surround And Tub:
After you shut off the main water shut off valve, you will use a pry bar to remove the bathtub surround or tiles. If it is made of plastic, remove any studs, cement board, or drywall before pulling it out.
Next, take out any screws holding the bathtub in place and enlist a friend to help you tip it from a side to remove it. You will have to get rid of the drywall next to the tub to allow it to come out completely.
Plan The Shower Controls And Showerhead:
Clean up the area and fix any of the studs or flooring that was damaged by the tub removal. Place the shower controls and showerhead roughly to plan how high you want it to be and what the manufacturer recommends.
Typically, the showerhead is placed 78 inches above the floor, while the valve body is kept 45 to 48 inches above. Your existing water lines can be programmed into your new shower, or you can replace them with PEX.
Examine The Shower Drain:
Your old bathtub drain and new shower drain can be kept in the same place, but it may need to be adjusted with an extender.
Tumblr media
Install The Shower Surround Panels, Door, And Controls:
Install the large back panel first, and then install the side without the shower controls. Finally, add the surround panel on the control side and drill holes for the showerhead and shower controls before you place the last surround. Caulk between the seams and install the shower door when dry.
Lastly, add the shower controls and head in the drilled holes and wait for everything to dry before testing out your new shower for any leaks.
If all of this seems like too much work for you, enlist the help of the experts at Reglazing Plus Inc. Their tub cut services allow homeowners to own the shower of their dreams at reasonable prices and they also provide bathtub refinishing for Manhattan, NY, residents. Call them at 866-399-8827 or contact them here to get a quote.
