2021-10 DokuFiction: 8 Monate Drehzeit (u.a. mit versteckter Kamera) begleiteten den 35jährige private Sicherheitsmann Paul Müller (gespielt von Florian Ludwig Knopf) in Berlin und in den Bundesländern Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Brandenburg und in der Hauptstadt Berlin begleitet. In geplanten 10 Folgen für die erste Staffel ist Paul Müller alias „Security Berlin“ u.a. als Privatdetektiv, Wachschutz in Berlin-Wedding und im Prenzlauer Berg oder als Fluchthelfer in Deutschland unterwegs. Seit zwei Jahren ist Paul Müller in der Wiedereingliederung ins Zivilleben auf der Suche nach seinem Zuhause in Deutschland und mit dem Job als Privater Fahrer und Personenschützer wollte er eigentlich „alle Angelegenheiten runterfahren und so langsam in Private Rente“. Aber die Stadt Berlin durchkreuzt seine Pläne. 2021 wirkt die Hauptstadt in dieser Serie fast wie eine Dystopie ihrer eigenen Glorreichen 1920er Jahre: düster, geheimnisvoll und manchmal magisch. Der Ex-Bundeswehr Soldat Müller auf dem Weg zurück ins Zivilleben und auf der Suche nach sich selbst. Aber immer wieder holt ihn seine düstere Vergangenheit ein und verschiedene mächtige Figuren haben Interesse an dem ehemaligen Kommunikations- und Logistik Spezialisten Müller, der mit 6 Auslandseinsatzjahren auf 3 Kontinenten nicht ganz unbeschädigt nach Hause gekommen ist. Vielleicht gerade weil Müller psychisch labil ist, auf eigenen Wunsch „die Truppe“ verließ und oft einen halb-schizophrenen Eindruck macht, wird er auch für den Verfassungsschutz für neue Operationen immer interessanter. Nicht ganz ohne Verschwörungstheorien, die, genervt sei Dank, in der Serie nur angedeutet werden, kommt dann aber auch dieses Drehbuch nicht aus. Das ist zumindest unser Eindruck, nach dem wir exklusiv Einblick und Lesezeit in die Drehbuch Skizzen haben durften. Die dynamische Persönlichkeitsentwicklung von Paul Müller in dieser DokuFiktion ist eine moderne und aktuelle Heldenreise, die sich u.a. mit den Themen Posttraumatisches Stresssyndrom von Bundeswehr-Veteranen, Geflüchtete Menschen in Deutschland, Gesellschaft im Corona Lockdown und Toxischer Männlichkeit beschäftigt. „Dabei fehlt es in der Story keines Falls an berührenden, humorvollen und sehr ruhigen Passagen, die auch die Sehnsucht des Paul Müller nach seinem kleinen Paradies, welches er in einer Kleingarten-Siedlung in Ostdeutschland vergebens versucht aufzubauen, um endlich Frieden in sich Selbst, als Freier Ritter zu finden.“, sagt Schauspieler Florian Ludwig Knopf über seine Rolle als der fiktive Paul Müller. „Nicht nur der Style der Serie – auch der Soundtrack ist einzigartig, neu und vielfältig!“, ergänzt eine Sprecherin der Produktionsfirma mit Hinweis auf das Jahr 2022, „Dann sollte die Serie fertig sein, wenn nichts dazwischen kommt.“

Florian Ludwig Knopf hat die Hauptrolle gespielt und auch am Drehbuch mitgearbeitet sowie Co-Regie geführt. Die Serie mit dem Arbeitstitel „Security Berlin“ wird 2022 die ersten Episoden auf YouTube veröffentlichen.

About me:

I'm Nico (he/him), a 32-year-old chemist moonlighting as an author of dark adult contemporary crime fiction and horror. I'm based in Tio'tia:ke, colonially known as Montreal, where I live with my 10-year-old cat Saturday and most of my chosen family and friends. I plan to publish under a pen name similar to the one on my blog (ie. not my real name - I like to keep my different "lives" separate). You can read more about me here. I especially love the Find the Word and Last Line/Heads Up Seven Up games, so please never feel like you're annoying me by tagging me in those. I also love any and all music tags!

What I write:

My novel-length projects - 95% what I talk about on this blog in terms of my writing - are predominantly (though not exclusively) in the realm of adult contemporary crime fiction, usually in combination with horror, thriller, docufiction, and/or psychological fiction. All of my novel-length works take place in the same universe, and are all - either directly or indirectly - connected to each other.

My short fiction is typically either contemporary litfic, slice-of-life, crime/procedural, or experimental horror. Most of my existing short fiction is currently being submitted for publication (or in the process) to various literary periodicals.

I write and submit freestyle poetry on occasion.

My forte is writing well-developed, messy, typically queer characters who exist on a continuum between morally gray to morally bankrupt, as well as complex, intense, and/or dark relationship dynamics. Other things I love writing and featuring in my stories include:

Small casts (I typically focus on 1-3 central characters)

Symbolism, motifs, and foreshadowing

Found/chosen families and homes

Exploration of dark real-world themes, including themes involving mental illness, trauma, and recovery

By doing so, they ignite the spark to an unstoppable chain reaction of passion and pride, power and corruption, and unintended consequences they never could have anticipated.

Major themes: Scientific responsibility and ethics, unintended consequences, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, advanced climate crisis, discrimination and social inequalities.

I thought it would be fun to design some Paradox Pokemon based off the weird futuristic animals from the old docufiction miniseries The Future Is Wild. For those who don't know, TFIW is basically a speculative biology fanfiction that predicts what Earth's animals and ecosystems would look like millions of years from now. It's kinda silly, but I always thought that the animals in that series had some cool designs, so I thought it would be fun to make some futuristic Pokemon based off of them. :D (I might make some more after this, but I'm not sure yet.)

Tundra Hunter (based off of the Snowstalker)

Type: Ice/Dark

Ability: Snow Cloak/Slush Rush (Hidden Ability)

Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Zangoose, this Pokemon has adapted to hunting in winter ice and snow in the far future. It is the apex predator of its natural environment.

Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Zangoose hunts in arctic tundra in the far future. Its thick, white coat provides it with camouflage in blizzards and winter storms.

Tundra Furball (based off of the Shagrat)

Type: Ice/Normal

Ability: Oblivious/Fur Coat/Thick Fat (Hidden Ability)

Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Pawmot, this Pokemon travels across futuristic tundra in search of grasses and cold-adapted shrubs to graze on. Its natural predator is the Tundra Hunter.

Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Pawmot has adapted to living in cold tundra in the far future. These Pokemon are very social and live in herds consisting of twelve or more individuals.

Running Razor (based off of the Carakiller)

Type: Fighting

Ability: Keen Eye/Run Away/Speed Boost (Hidden Ability)

Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Braviary, this Pokemon has given up flying to become a highly efficient grasslands predator. Its crest of feathers are used for communicating with others while hunting.

Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Braviary has given up flying to adapt to a grasslands lifestyle, its wings developing into clawed forelimbs. It is one of the top predators of its natural environment.

Blubber Wing (based off of the Gannetwhale)

Type: Water/Ice

Ability: Thick Fat/Ice Body (Hidden Ability)

Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Cramorant, this flightless bird Pokemon has adapted to a semiaquatic lifestyle and spends most of its time hunting for food in the sea. They live in tightly-knit family groups and are very protective of their young and their eggs.

Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Cramorant hast given up flying to adapt to a semiaquatic lifestyle in the far future. They are ungainly and clumsy on land, but swift predators in the water.

Speaking of my For All Mankind obsession, I'm currently 6,000+ words into my first spacepoet fic. The newsreel in 4x01 sparked something in my brain, not just the queer joy but it's the curse of being a politics graduate that I'm fascinated by the politics in the alt timeline, so the fic is going to epistolary/docufiction style which is a fun challenge I've added for myself.
