the green 5 on Lloyd's hoodie foreshadowed that he was the fifth ninja and the green one at that. I hate this show

do. do you guys see it. the way her hands are so gently cupped. the way the color scheme of her background immediately brightens the second he’s out of his bottle. the way her voice dips as she says ‘he’s the only left’. Do you see it guys.

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a post where someone is comparing Invincible to Steven Universe I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

what if, through whatever means, after humanity destroys itself and is either replaced by a new species or aliens colonize earth, the only record of the Vietnam war is Twist and Shout? what then? will you be happy then?

@thicketville: meta: did john ever want to go to college? what would he have studied if he did? if not, did he ever want any sort of higher education, like a vocational degree or apprenticeship? — META TOPICS.
i think college was always a very distant concept for him growing up: more 'something that happens to posh people in the big cities' than a potential career path. john's father was a dock worker before losing his arm and most of their relatives did labor-intensive jobs in and around either the coal mines or the docks, so for anyone who actually thought john had a future — which was very few people, if anyone — it was sort of expected that he'd wind up in the same realm of work. they could never hope to afford college, so cheryl wouldn't have brought it up to him as a possibility, because john was a dreamer of a kid and would've gotten himself in trouble with their father if he insisted on pursuing it.
honestly, john's childhood was lived one day at a time, and nobody really thought he was going to survive past the teenage years (least of all john), so he really never considered a future for himself at all, other than "one day i'll get out of here". and even that felt like a pipe dream before he discovered magic. these days, i don't think he spends time considering what might have been anymore, because the past is the past and it eats him alive already without him helping it along, but in a perfect, perfect world, i think he would've loved college, and maybe gone into creative writing.

This is absolutely not a diss on anyone who did like the Collector's ending there's merits to it and interpretations that make it more reasonable but sometimes idk it's such a let down when you're watching a show about found family, acceptance, healing from abuse, etc and you get attached to this character only to never see them get more than a gentle dismissal.
I have to wonder what kids who are more like the Collector than the other kids in the show or who have similar behaviors because of neglect feel about that ending. Maybe for some of them the idea of leaving everyone behind to be in their own space would be freeing and exciting but it does come with the implication that the Collector didn't deserve to have a real family.
That's what stings about it I think, I know that wasn't the intention but his resolution really kinda was like "ok now take this and go away" in the end he was too out of touch, too powerful, too weird, too messed up, and no one especially wanted him enough for the writers to justify him staying.

I just think that in Aleksander’s eyes, Alina is fucking stupid
#Obviously she’s not cause she’s human and humans make mistakes and have flaws and she’s not immortal or hadn’t lived long enough like he has#I think he also believes that a lot of people are idiots compared to him#What I mean is that he has super high standards that few people can reach and he gets disappointed. Like imagine coming back and finding#Out the fabled sun summoner is just straight up gone and then finding out she ran on her own or that she burned maps cause she didn’t want#To leave her friend and it got her whole team killed accidentally. Or that she deliberately hid her power cause#she didn’t want to split up with her only friend#he wouldn’t like it cause why is she letting her personal feelings impact her decisions he doesn’t do that#even tho it’s pretty common for ppl to do that sometimes#Anyway this is me waving a flag and saying “dear god let him feel other things for Alina besides love” by which one of them is jealousy#Imagine working YEARS trying to achieve your goal and being labeled a heretic for it then you find a newbie who has the fabled sun powers#Which is great for you but she just showed up and everyone is already labeling her a saint simply for this.#She’s hailed as a saint in the hopes of destroying something that YOU created. One of your first interactions#Is her saying she doesn’t want the fabled powers that will hail her as a hero. You’re still labeled a heretic but no one knows that#He’ll still pester her cause he hates being alone more than anything.#The quote “she makes me more human” doesn’t necessarily mean only love as love isn’t the only human emotion there is#shadow and bone#aleksander morozova

You have like single-handedly brought me back into byler. I spent so much time hating it because I just didn’t really like season 3 I was super disappointed by it and then everyone constantly portrayed mike as this like bad boy with mean intentions and I was done with it but you have way better character analysis that I personally think aligns more with how the suffer brothers are actually writing.
I still sometimes like to look at explorations of them not getting together or growing apart because I like angst and hurt/comfort but you’ve brought me back and it’s honestly way more fun :)
ahhhh, thank you! that makes me so happy tht i was able to bring you back hehe. :')
season three was whiplash for A LOT of people, myself included. i remember my outrage had always been rooted in a sense of confusion, because if you're just watching the show in a superficial manner like most casual viewers do, then it's so easy to just write it off as a really weird, jarring, and out of character narrative decision that came out of nowhere and way too late in the game. it doesn't help at all that they're all extremely tight-lipped about the plots in the show, including obvious ones like will's sexuality, and that season three was more show than tell unlike previous seasons.
it's only when you pause and start to actually consider and take in everything as a whole that you go "oh, okay. i get it now." and those interpretations are much more cohesive with the heart of stranger things and the journeys and beliefs of all of these characters involved than "oh they suddenly made mike a jackass and removed all depth and don't give a single shit about him or will and el anymore lol."
and that's not even going into how that lazy idea ignores things like basic storytelling, set design, costuming, cinematography, the soundtrack, editing, things that the duffers themselves have said, and more.
stranger things touches on a lot of heavy things and does have depth. people think because it's funny, fun, colorful, and has a lot of cgi, that it's a show on par with something on the cw, but it really isn't. every character has their moment and every character is on their own distinct path. it's all right there in the plain text of the show, but alas... the wait time between seasons and sheer volume of material can be overwhelming for most. that, and media literacy is in the pits, so. sigh.
