H EY could you possibly write a fic where the readers been on some heat the whole day just overall pissed, then there’s a fight outbreak in Alexandria and everyone crowding around & people calling Daryl so he comes, just to realise it’s his girl and he has to restrain her, pulling her away so she doesn’t continue beating the shit out of whoever and she’s MAD so he has to calm her down and gets her to just talk to him so he can help her. Just a thought yk 😛

AN ~ I like this idea a lot! Just the thought of Daryl helping her clean up and take care of her after something like this just makes me melt. ps- Sorry for the inactiveness lately, April has already been such a crazy month for me and I've sadly had little to no time to write. But I'll definitely start getting back on track soon. Hope you enjoy!

The weather was hot, sticky, and humid. Your hair was a frizzy mess, sticking up everywhere as you worked in the miserable weather. You were sweating in places you didn’t even think were possible to sweat from. Bottom line was, you were miserable.
The bad mood that was embedded in you only seemed to grow as the day dragged on longer and longer. It was bad enough that your group joined this new community in the first place, having to live with all of these complete strangers after everything you had been through with your family. But what seemed to make it even worse, was this community had some high expectations upon your arrival. The leader, Deanna, made it very clear that she wanted each and every one of you working like dogs in order to do your part just like everyone else.
Meanwhile her sons were sitting in their air conditioned houses without lifting a damn finger.
Though you didn’t mind putting in the work, in fact, that was all you did your whole life. You were never handed a damn thing, needing to learn to find your own way in life and work for everything you got instead of being spoiled rotten. But again, you didn’t mind. The only thing that bugged you was that there were clearly a few favorites that got special treatment. Though you weren’t just talking about Deanna’s sons.
For the past couple of days you had been scheduled to work with a small group of others that you tried to play nice with. And for the most part, they all seemed friendly enough, willing to pitch in and do the part they were told to complete. Everyone…except for this one bitch who seemed to love getting a rise out of you.
You didn’t know her name, you couldn’t be bothered to learn it. But that didn’t mean the urge for punching her in her stupid, fake ass face wasn’t growing the longer you were in the same vicinity. She didn’t do a damn thing other than tell every other person what to do. And she always seemed to make it her mission to get under your skin at least once a day to really add to your sour mood, really wanting to see how far she could push you. But you, of course, always did nothing. It’s not because you weren’t capable of defending yourself, but you knew even one screw up could get you, and possibly the rest of your family kicked out of here.
You didn’t want to take that chance. After all, this whole opportunity and hard work was the chance to prove that you were all worthy to stay within the thick, sturdy walls they had built. You didn’t want to screw it up for yourself, but you especially didn’t want to screw it up for anyone else. Which is why you kept to yourself for the most part, only smiling politely to the ones who showed you even an ounce of kindness as they passed by with a friendly greeting. Other than that your eyes just stayed down, in hopes that somehow the day would go by faster that way.
You and a few others were currently in the large garden that was placed practically directly in the middle of the community, instructed to pick the fruits and vegetables that were ripe enough to bring back to the pantry. The job was simple enough, knowing that when this last basket of yours was full, you would take everything back, wash them off, and place them in the right sections before finally heading back to your new home. You could practically hear the cool shower calling your name from all the way over here.
Though subconsciously, your gaze traveled up a few different times to keep an eye out for Daryl, seeing if he was maybe passing the area. You didn’t necessarily know the job he was given for the day, but what you did know was that it was hot as fuck outside. And seeing Daryl with his arms exposed, the signature leather vest, and sweat glistening off of him…the sight would surely make your day ten times better than how it was going.
But everytime you did a subtle scan, he was nowhere to be found, and you couldn’t help but sigh a bit dramatically as all you wanted was to take him home and use that last bit of energy you had left.
“Hey!”
You were snapped out of your lustful daze suddenly when you heard a familiar voice from the other end of the space, seeing the one blonde bitch who wouldn’t get off your back, her face scowling into a glare.
You raised your arms up from your slightly crouched position, “What?”
“I can see you slacking off from all the way over here, get back to work!” she called with her hands sassily on her hips.
You sent her a bitter smile before ducking your head back down in attempts to pull yourself together, “Oh, I’ll get back to work.” you spoke under your breath, “Work on shoving this foot up your ass.” you grumbled as you began picking a few more ripe strawberries.
A few minutes of peace passed, moving down the line as you scanned for any more things that were ready to be picked off the vine. Your small basket sat by your feet as it was nearly filled to the brim with the amount of fruit you collected over the past hour or so. That is…until it wasn’t.
Out of the corner of your eye you could see someone’s shadow coming from your left as whoever it was seemed to just be passing by. But the sound of their foot coming in contact with the wooden basket right beside you is what caused your gaze to snap up, already knowing who the hell it was. Her blonde hair blowing behind her as she didn’t even stop to look at the mess she made was kind of a dead giveaway.
You shot up to your feet as annoyance began to quickly overtake you, causing you to open your mouth before you even got a chance to think twice. “What the fuck?” you called after her.
She turned around on instinct, as if she was expecting you to say something, a small smirk on her face as she shrugged. “What?”
You pressed your lips together as your annoyance grew, stepping up closer to her so you could keep the conversation quiet, “What the hell is your problem? You don’t think I can tell you’re doing this shit on purpose?”
“Oh I know you can.” she said with a bitchy tilt of her head, her arms coming to cross over her chest, “I’m just wondering when the fuck you’re going to get a clue.”
“Well, why don’t you just spell it out for me, because I’m getting pretty tired of dealing with the same bullshit from you.” you stated bluntly.
She scoffed, “You and your grubby little group don’t belong here.” she spat harshly, “None of you are what we need for this community, in fact, you’re only tearing us down. I don’t even know why Deanna let you people in here in the first place.”
Her words caused your eyebrows to fly up in utter surprise. You expected her to attack you, shoot insults directed toward you. But you never expected in a million years that she would have the audacity to go after your family the way she did with little to no reason at all.
And in the end, that’s what pushed you over the edge as you laughed at her, not needing to come up with a single response as you had a few other things in mind.
Daryl was on the other end of the community, patrolling around the streets when he heard the sudden commotion. At first he couldn’t quite pinpoint what was going down, only seeing a swarm of people flooding toward one area where lots of shouts and panicked voices were coming from. Curiosity eventually got the better of him as his brows furrowed in confusion, his pace picking up as he approached the gardens, opening the white gates to step inside.
His eyes squinted as he could tell there was some sort of fight breaking out, the people surrounding them either cheering them on, or trying to rip them apart. He leaned from side to side, trying to see who was in the middle of it all as he silently prayed he was wrong about what he originally assumed. But then there was a small parting in the crowd, allowing him to catch a glimpse in between them, and his face dropped.
Some random guy was holding you back as you attempted to hit the blonde girl at the other end of the circle they created, clawing out of his grip every so often to get another swing in while she cried. Daryl then didn’t waste another second, harshly shoving his way through the crowd to get to you in attempts to stop you from doing anymore damage. It was almost like he couldn’t get to you fast enough, either that, or you were just quick when it came to nearly tearing her head off.
“Hey!” he shouted once he was close enough, pulling you out of the man’s grasp in attempts to hold you back himself, “Stop!”
You hardly even heard his voice, your ears ringing as you continued to try and pry his hands off of you, desperately trying to swing again as the woman sobbed. Her nose bloody and a bruise forming on her right cheek. She clearly couldn’t fight for shit considering she had such a big mouth.
Daryl groaned as he yanked you back harshly, “Damnit (Y/N), I said stop!” he shouted once more, his voice enough to silence everyone in an instant.
The familiar voice then finally registered with you as well, whipping your head around quickly to see him, smoke nearly coming out of his ears. Your face softened as you instantly came to the realization of the damage you just caused, the potential outcome of your actions suddenly terrifying you.
Your head shook slightly as you tried to speak, “I-”
“Get back to the house.”
His tone was firm, but somehow still held a bit of gentleness. You sighed as you took yourself out of his hold, not needing to be told twice as you slowly began to walk out of the crowded area. Now seeing the amount of people that witnessed your meltdown, you suddenly wanted to crawl into a hole and die, feeling all their watchful eyes on you as Daryl quickly ushered you the rest of the way out. The last thing you barely caught a glimpse of, was a few others crowding around the blonde as she continued to cry her eyes out with her beaten face.
There wasn’t a single word spoken between the two of you. Just silence. And it was killing you.
He didn’t utter a word, only gesturing you into the bathroom for you to sit at the edge of the tub, before pulling out a first aid kid from the closet. Your brows furrowed in confusion as she hadn’t laid a hand on you, but then your eyes traveled down to your own hands, seeing how cut up and bloody they were. The pain hadn’t even registered to you, you hardly felt the sting at all as if your adrenaline was still pumping fast through your system.
Daryl wordlessly kneeled down in front of you, taking your hands with such softness in his touch as he cleaned you up with precision. You could tell he was trying to be as careful as he could, despite the fact that he was probably upset. Hell, the whole group would probably be upset with you for a while, over something that you could now never take back. Something that you could never undo. All because you couldn’t keep your head on straight.
You were forced to think about it even more as the silence only lingered, playing the imagines back over and over again in your mind. You wanted to say it was worth it, to see her actually get somewhat of a taste of her own bitter medicine, knowing now she would probably never fuck with you again. But the fate of the future, what would come next, still weighed heavily on you as it was clearly unknown.
You then sighed softly as you looked down at him, “I…I’m sorry.” your voice spoke barely above a whisper.
He nodded as he kept his eyes down, finishing up your left hand as he wrapped it in some bandages, “I know ya are.”
“You don’t know the things she was saying…what she’s been doing ever since we fucking got here. God…I know I shouldn’t have taken it that far, but that bitch got what she deserves, trust me.” you spoke bitterly, trying to convince yourself more than you were trying to convince him.
Daryl’s eyes then glanced up to you, a small smile on his lips as he nodded again, “I know.”
Your brows furrowed in both confusion and surprise, “You’re…you’re not mad?”
“Why would I be mad?” he asked, his voice a lot more gentle than it was before. But then again you could only assume it was all just the heat of the moment.
You shook your head softly, “I don’t know…” you muttered, glancing down to your hands as you slightly examined them, mostly to avoid his eyes as you knew he would be able to see right through you.
And he did. His brows furrowed as a few seconds of silence passed before he spoke again, “Yeah ya do. You just don’t wanna say it.”
A heavy sigh passed through your lips as you looked back up at him, “I just…I know that doing that was a big mistake.”
His eyes softened as he heard the timidness in your tone, “Everyone makes mistakes, sweetheart.” he said as he raised his hand to tuck some hair behind your ear, “It’s alright.”
“No…that’s not what I mean.” you said with a shake of your head, “I…I fucked up…I fucked up everything. Once Deanna finds out what happened, once she finds out that we can’t work with her people, she’ll kick us out. And then we’ll be back on the road without any food, or water, or anything. We barely made it last time, I-”
“Hey.” Daryl interrupted you softly, raising his hands to gently grip your forearms, “What are ya talkin about? None of that’s gonna happen.”
“But she’s already weary of us, we’re the big, scary outside people. The second she realizes that we won’t be able to fit in here, there’s no way she’ll let us stay.”
The man in front of you couldn’t help but smirk, which at first confused you, but then you found yourself rolling your eyes. “The big, scary outside people?” he repeated with a light chuckle.
You gave him a pointed look, “This is serious.”
“I know, I know.” he assured, “But I also know you’ve been bustin yer ass damn near everyday tryin to prove that you can be trusted here. That we can be trusted here. So…I think right now, you just need to take a second and breathe…okay?”
You stared at him for a moment before swallowing a bit thickly and nodding your head, taking a deep breath in attempts to calm your nerves. It felt like your brain was scattered all over the place and you knew he was right in saying that you just needed to fucking chill out for a second. You still had your worries about the outcome, but for some reason the longer you looked at the man sitting in front of you, the more those thoughts started to disappear.
After a few moments of silence, you felt him gently squeeze your arms again as he hadn’t taken his eyes off of you, “Ya got pretty worked up back there, killer. And I don’t think this stress and worryin is helpin. We’re here for a reason…to have a fighting chance. And you just gotta trust that over time, everythin’s just gonna work itself out…no matter what.”
He was so confident in his words, it made you want to feel confident too. It made you want to believe that this would all pass, and you didn’t completely screw up this opportunity like you assumed. Though there was still something else on your mind.
“But what about the fight? I mean…I messed her up pretty bad.”
He simply shrugged, “Good.”
Your eyebrows raised in slight shock, “What?”
“That bitch got what was coming to her. Truth is, ever since ya told me about what’s been goin on, I’ve been dyin for ya to knock some damn sense into her. If anything, I wanted to cheer you on.” he winked.
You couldn’t help but laugh, “Well, you always have been my biggest supporter…” you trailed off as you looked down toward your hands again, “And the best doctor around.”
He hummed with a small smile before grasping your hands gently, raising them up to his mouth to leave a few kisses on the back of your bandaged knuckles as if to seal the healing process.
You smiled a little to yourself at his actions, “So…you really think we’ll be okay?”
“We’ll be just fine.” he muttered as he placed one final kiss on your skin, “It’ll breeze over, people will move on. Cause I think they all kinda know she was the problem to begin with.”
“God, I hope so.” you scoffed, “And even though I kinda lost it…it felt good.” you admitted almost a bit sheepishly.
He chuckled as he pulled at your hands a little, helping you stand back up to your feet as he did, “Looked pretty good too.” he confirmed as he held you close, placing a kiss on top of your head. “I think you could use some kinda award for doin that.”
You smirked as you looked up at him, “Well…I could use a massage.”
He smiled right back at you as he nodded, “Done.”

His girls
Tumblr media
Daryl Dixon x Original female characters.
Two new girls find a dog, and their very handsome owner.
This is a 3rd person fic featuring my TWD self insert Sherry, and @murdadixon's Tabby. No xReader for this one.
🐺 🐺 🐺
Daryl couldn't find his dog.
No matter how he called or whistled around the street, the damn mutt would not show his face. So Daryl set out to find him by scent. He quickly caught on and followed his trail around the block, only to round the corner and find him in the front yard of the new arrivals.
He was belly up on the grass, wagging his tail and being cuddled and scratched by the two girls that Aaron had brought in yesterday on a quick one-man scout trip. As his partner he had gotten updated on the fact but he hadn't seen them in person yet.
But they were good with Dog, so that was a bonus. Now he wouldn't have to always ask Carol to babysit him if he went out for too long.
Daryl stepped up to the girls and cleared his throat, having them both snap their heads up and quickly remove their hands from the animal.
"We're sorry, sir!" The blonde one spoke fast, hands up in apology.
"Yeah. Didn't know he belonged to someone." The redhead added, mimicking the other's stance.
A low chuckle left the man before he spoke. "S'alrigh. He weren't respondin' but now I get why tha' is." He kept standing around with his hands in his pockets as he couldn't help but notice the way thw girls were staring him up and down.
"Ya wanna babysit 'em when I go out huntin'?" The two quickly agreed. Having a dog around would surely make settling into the new community a lot easier.
"Name's Daryl, by the way." They all exchanged names and Daryl gave them some more info on the community and names, together with descriptions of people to find in case they needed something and set off to prepare for his hunting trip.
Back inside the house the two were talking, guessing and questioning things about their new home, but also happily gushing over the very handsome dog owner from earlier.
Some time later a woman came by, offering to take them to the community's inventory space and let them pick out some clothes and necessities. "Hi, you're Carol, right?" The lady was happily greeted from the kitchen by the red haired woman, only for the other one to peek her head around the living room corner and chime in too. "Yeah! Daryl told us to find you if we needed anything."
Again, the duo was met with a kind smile but taken a little by surprise as one of them quipped. "He your husband?"
Carol put a hand to her mouth as she laughed. "Oh, no dear. He's my best friend. He came by to make sure I'd check in on you. See if you were doing okay while you wait on Deanna's word."
The girls ended up tagging along on a small tour of the community, being shown the larger important areas like the infirmary, inventory and the pantry. Before they went on their trek back to the house they went to pick up their needed items.
Later that day they were met by Deanna, who officially welcomed them into the community and would be assigning them both a job in the upcoming days.
As the first week ended, Sherry, the blonde girl, had gotten a job at the inventory, repairing any damaged pieces of clothing that came in or patching up curtains, blankets and towels.
Tabby, the redhead had gotten a job at the pantry next door to help Olivia with her job that was becoming a little too much for just one person, making sure inventory was kept and no one took too much off the shelves.
The girls stayed together that way and quickly became a part of the community.
Thanks to quickly becoming friends with Daryl by dogsitting so often, they were given the option to live with him, since after Carol moved to the Kingdom, his house was almost empty anyways.
The three of them talked about it and agreed it'd work out fine and within the week after that they both moved in.
Two weeks in their new community and they were living with the gorgeous old man and his adorable dog.
"Don't think hitting the jackpot was still a thing during the apocalypse." Tabby called from the stovetop.
"Besides stumbling on a truckload of food, you mean." Sherry called back from the couch, where she was frankensteining a warm hoodie out of old scraps.
The two laughed around together until Daryl came home, announcing he'd be leaving on a multiple day hunting trip. Something about seeing better at night with the full moon up.
The girls agreed to care for Dog while he was gone, and he brought back quite the amount of game.
And the next full moon he left again, and brought back a nice haul.
The next moon, the same tale.
They also learned he was allergic to chocolate. Carol brought cookies on her visits and made sure to tell them not to eat the ones without chocolate since they were specifically made for Daryl.
"I'm pretty sure I saw him snack on a raw piece of squirrel when he was cutting one up last week." Tabby sat on the couch with her nose in a book.
"I'm almost entirely convinced he's a werewolf." Sherry shoved a notepad over the book.
"Look, all signs are there." Her voice was a little too excited, but the redhead had to admit her friend had a very clear analysis written down and all points did come together to the same conclusion.
"So, what now? You wanna sit him down and show him your notes?"
The blonde shrugged. "I mean, why not?"
The worst thing that could happen was her being wrong and things being awkward for a while. But she was so convinced she was being right that she couldn't see that happen.
So the next time he got ready for his hunting trip Sherry spoke up.
"You know you can just tell us you're a werewolf, right? No need to use weird excuses for your full moon runs."
Daryl had stopped dead in his tracks at her words. Obsessively retracing his steps to figure out how they could have figured it out. But now his clearly panicked state gave him away, and sighed in defeat. "Aigh', how'dya figure it out?"
Before Sherry could talk, Tabby had jumped up. "Wait, for real?" She let out an excited squeal. "Show us, pleasee?"
Daryl took a step back, still stuck being caught so off guard by two women who only knew him for a few months.
"She means we'd love to see you be your real self, no need to hide when we're around. Snack on squirrels if you're hungry, we don't care." A notepad covered in detailed writing was handed to him and he looked it over. His brows raising with how impressed he was she had managed to gather all this info before coming to the right conclusion.
"M'still goin' on tha hunt. Talk after, yeah?" Two nods let him know it was all good, and he went out with a much more calm feeling this time around, knowing he'd have them waiting back at home no matter what.
So he hunted in the surrounding forest, now feeling like he was being truly useful and not disgusting for once.
Not that he had issues with being a werewolf, he just hated always having to be careful and hide it all the time.
But now he could be home whenever he wanted, even when his mind howled at him and he had a hard time hiding his claws and fangs.
He hunted more this run. Brought back two deer and a nice stash of rabbits and squirrels. He almost caught a boar too but he let it go to get a stray walker away from his deer.
Back home the two women had prepared him a nice meal as a peace offering. An apology for catching him so off guard before he left.
Never in his life had he felt so welcome, but this was his home now. Him and his two girls.
His girls.
No, the girls that he shared a home with. Not his girls.
But they were his girls. His mind told him so. That night in bed he dreamt. He watched as they cuddled up with Dog, giving him head scratches and belly rubs as his vision slowly distorted and he saw his own shifted self in place of his canine companion. The blonde rubbed her tits against his muzzle as the other stroked his cock as she rubbed herself on his thigh.
He woke up panting, feeling like he was about to shift. From a goddamn wet dream..
He spent longer in his downstairs bedroom that morning. Although they said he'd be food to walk around how he wanted, he didn't want his fangs to be on display or his claws to be out but no matter what he tried it wouldn't fade. At least he wasn't painfully hard anymore.
He gave himself a pep talk before heading up to the main floor and praying the girls were out already.
"Hey Dee, wow." Tabby gave the man a once over, seeing his clawed hand as he raked it through his messy hair and offering him the drink she had gotten for herself. "Rough night?"
Daryl only grumbled in response before downing the drink and heading out to the back porch for a smoke.
And of course there he ran into the other cause of his annoyance. Sherry happily cooing at his dog as she brushed out his tangled fur.
"You look like the full moon hasn't decided to leave just yet, dude. Why not sleep in?" She suggested as she followed his figure sitting down and lighting up a smoke and grumbling some more. He disliked speaking with his fangs out.
"You can always just shift all the way to let out the frustration. You know, like a reset button." It wasn't something he had thought of before, and was now contemplating to do so.
"Just let us watch. Tabby'd be over the moon."
Oh how he hated that they were getting what they wanted and it being good for him too.. But he agreed and led her back inside and calling Tabby over.
"S'yer lucky day I guess. Sit." And without question they sat.
In front of them Daryl had dropped to his knees and let the change take over. Deep, growling breaths filled the room as he became more beast than man in mere seconds and eventually was fully transformed. He watched his housemates on the couch as they stared, wide eyed and squirming. Thighs rubbing together as they stared. Downward?
His cock stood at full attention thanks to the source of his frustration.
But neither of the girls was staring in disgust.
No, the absolute opposite.
They were interested. Their arousal was clear as day and he wasn't entirely sure how to respond.
"Want help with that, big boy?"
"I'll go lock the doors."
Both women were on their feet within seconds as Daryl sat there, processing the whole situation but not really getting to before he was being touched all over. "Just move us to where you want us, yeah?" A soft nod let them know he understood as he laid on his back.
One large paw went to tug at Tabby's sweats as the other one pawed at Sherry's top.
The hint was clear as they undressed and waited for his next order.
Within moments he had them both settled like he saw in his dreams. His thigh soaked as one grinded herself down on it and a wet pair of tits against his muzzle, his thick tongue lapping at her nipples and a rough paw pad rubbing at her clothed pussy.
Their combined moans and the feeling of their hands around his shaft were so good it didn't last long before he spilled all over his stomach. He helped them both over the edge as well before relaxing back onto the floor and pulling them both close to him.
From that moment on his two housemates did become His girls. A mutual agreement between the three of them.
More fun was had whenever one of them had a bad day, or when they were all in the mood. In both human and shifted form neither of the girls backed down and had their fun with him.
He really had hit the jackpot.
He was almost done with the day, stepping onto his porch as he caught one of the girls' voice saying something very interesting.
He knew he shouldn't, bjt he couldn't help but eavesdrop
"Man.. I wish I could have his puppies." Tabby slumped on the couch, tired after a long workday.
"I mean, if you want I can carry it for ya?" Sherry came in too, offering her a plate of food. "Would you do that? Thought that shit scared you so much." The redhead happily chowed down on the meal, offering thanks between spoonfuls.
"Babies? Never in my life. Puppies? No problem with those." She offered her friend a kind smile. "Besides, that's what friends do. Being surrogate moms for their besties? We'll have to go ask around for a breast pump and a bottle though. So you can at least bottle feed the furball."
Daryl had a hard time containing his excitement, but managed to calmly smoke another cigarette before going into the house, pretending he didn't hear any of that.
Between then and the day Daryl left for his next full moon hunting trip Tabby and Sherry puzzled together a list of needed items, from vitamins to the breast pump and bottle, to maybe some nice stretchy pants or maternity clothes.
All while Daryl waited for them to ask him about the one thing that had been screwing with his focus for over a week now.
With his stuff packed and ready to leave he was stopped by a hand with a piece of paper smacked against his arm, a flushed Tabby beside him who hid her face behind her hair.
"W'sthis?" He took the paper and went to unfold but another smacked hand stopped him. "List for Sherry and me. Please open it when you're outside the walls, okay?"
Daryl mumbled something about strange women and their words, but he agreed and pocketed the paper. He kissed her goodbye and set out to find Sherry at her workplace before leaving on his trip.
Sherry was easily found in her workplace and was informed of the secret little list he was given, said his goodbyes and now left for the gates.
As soon as Daryl was out on the main road he stopped his bike and took the small paper from his pocket. Its contents had been mulling around in his mind ever since he touched it.
But he wouldn't have guessed this was how his girls would have played their cards.
The list was full of baby stuff. And underlined in red sat those two things he heard them talk about.
His hunting would have to be delayed for a bit. His first stop was Hilltop.
He thanked the baby doctor for his donation and caught up with Maggie before setting out again, leaving a large deer at their gate as a thanks that same night. He hunted and stashed his kills for the remainder of his time and took quick runs into nearby areas to scout for the listed items.
He had a large backpack with his girls' items and a good amount of meat gathered at the edge of the woods near the Alexandria gates.
His excitement to return home was clear as he returned earlier than usual, dropping the animals that hadn't been retrieved yet off at the pantry and heading for his house immediately after.
Welcomed by his girls he dumped the bag on the coffee table, right in front of them.
"Ya girls planned on askin' me nicely?"
It was clear they weren't gonna say a word, so he was just gonna ask a million yes or no questions even though he knew the answers already.
He found it crazy how they could so openly talk about it with each other but as soon as he asked they'd be all flustered and shy about it.
"So ya want pups." A set of nods meant yes.
"And yer too scared ta ask?" More nodding.
He gave his next question some thought. He wasn't needed in the community for the next two days as those were his given resting days. And since they were both home it meant they had nowhere to be either.
"Wanna head upstairs?"
Sherry shrugged and got up to follow while Tabby stayed behind.
"You too," Daryl stopped at the bottom of the stairs. "Yer as much part'a this as her."
Daryl treated his girls equally. Always making sure they got just as many kisses and cuddles. Naptime was always shared and he always made sure both of them were all the way asleep and comfortable before passing out in between them at night.
But of course he also made sure they both came at least twice, three times each before finishing himself. Twice ofcourse.
And that's how every moment they had together was spent for the next week. Up in the largest bedroom, round after round untill Tabby was too sore and fucked out, and Sherry was pregnant.
Daryl had permanently moved into the main house now, staying at their side whenever he wasn't out.
It was a known fact Daryl wasn't human, but that was all good as long as he stayed human within the walls and outside his home. And people had already started catching on about the two new girls being together with him as he never cared to hide  how he felt for them. Some found it weird and had their opinions, but they knew better than to voice them openly.
But now one of them was pregnant, and people were concerned about her.
Did she want it? Was it planned? Was it even healthy? Wasn't the other one jealous?
Those questions didn't last long, though. They faded quickly after a little incident at the pantry when Sherry, with her bump clearly visible by now, came to pick up some extra food and Tabby and her overheard whispers coming from others nearby.
Tabby was working so she could only kindly request they take their items and leave, but Sherry and her hormones weren't having it and snapped at them, making a bigger scene than necessary but not caring at all because someone dared to badmouth her family and she wasn't gonna let that slide.
She had rounded the shelf in seconds and snapped at the women.
"How about you keep your nose out of our business and spend more time with it up your husband's ass so he won't have to grope a different girl each week huh?"
Tabby hid a laugh behind her hands while the women loudly gasped at the insult.
The offended one huffed. "Well." She puffed out her chest and stood tall. "You two sleep with nasty monsters." She scoffed at the two as the other middle aged, probably high class before, woman backed her up with an even less insulting remark.
Now both of the girls laughed out loud. "Wow she really got us there." The sarcasm dripped off the words like venom. "Yeah, wow. Tabby, why didn't you tell me our man wasn't human?" Their laughs came from deep as they kept talking. "Our sweet, loyal beast." The emphasis on 'loyal' was strong, and a clear jab at the woman's cheating husband.
Daryl had long made his entrance to the scene, staying back with a wide grin on his face as he watched his girls stand up for themselves and tear into the other women with nothing but truths and observations.
Olivia had made her way into the pantry as well, now shooing both duos out of the door. At least Sherry got her items and Tabby now got the rest of the day off.
Their happy giggles continued as they stepped onto the street, Daryl joining them only seconds later. "Yer insane, the both of ya." He fell into step in between them and moved to kiss both their cheeks. "Thanks fer defendin' me. Them old hags dun' like me very much."
It was a fun but tiring event, and the three of them called dog upstairs with them and piled on the bed for cuddles and some much needed rest.
The next month and a half passed quickly. And with some careful communication the trio had made a trip to Hilltop and get an ultrasound done and got the greatest news.
Although it did spike Sherry's anxiety, she was over the moon when the screen showed not one, but two little squirmy pups. "Look at that! One little nugget for both of us in one go!" Tabby happily but cautiously hugged her friend as Daryl shared encouraging words and praise.
The way back home went by a lot quicker with the three all buzzing with excitement.
Luckily there wasn't much more waiting to be done as the last week approached fast.
Bedrest sucked a little less with a dog always at her side and two adorably concerned people in the house making sure she was doing okay. All the time. Up to the second her water broke.
When her contractions had started Daryl had sent Tabby to fetch some items they'd need from the infirmary and got back as fast as possible to not miss anything.
It took almost an entire day but eventually both pups were out and nursing.
With both pups asleep, Sherry laid in bed. She kept nodding off while she tried to focus on pumping some more milk. She didn't want to keep nursing them both and risk them not imprinting on Tabby as their mother.
Tabby, who laid next to her in bed, two pups snuggled against her bare skin.
Daryl was all over the place, cleaning up the mess and making sure there'd be enough food prepped and up for grabs. No matter how bad he wanted to lay in bed with his girls and pups, he was going to make sure every needed task was done before resting.
This went on for days. The girls spending all their time with the pups as Daryl made quick work of needed things and joined them afterwards.
He came from the kitchen with three bowls of stew balanced in his hands and set them out on the coffee table. They were still too hot to eat immediately so he took his time to settle down between his girls who were lovingly feeding their pups, both having picked their favorite momma.
They had really hit the jackpot here in their home in Alexandria.

She was forced to run away from the only man she believed could love and protect her forever.
She finds herself alone and exhausted in the middle of the woods, waiting to die.
But then a mysterious man saves her.
Daryl.
A man with a past full of demons.
Maybe their meeting will decree the survival of the girl and the rebirth of the archer.
Between lies and secrets will they ever find some peace in the end?
Is there still room in this world for feelings like love, friendship and honor?
Or will fears and misunderstandings do nothing but drive them away from each other, allowing themselves to be devoured by their own mistakes?

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
series summary: hannah rhee never expected for the whole world to go to shit. i mean she was still learning in life she was still growing and trying to get through art school (something that it took years for her to decide to do), then the dead started to rise and hannah truly sees how hard she has to fight to survive. while trying to keep her little brother, glenn, and herself alive she comes across people that she will soon to see as her own family, one will worm it’s way into her fractured heart.
chapter summary: it’s been a few weeks since the outbreak happened and Hannah and Glenn have found themselves a group of survivors. The two sisters, Amy and Andrea, Theodore Douglas (T-Dog), the Morales family, Dale, Jacqui and Jim, Lori Carl and Shane, Carol and her husband Ed alongside their daughter. Glenn has made a few runs into the two while Hannah was weary of letting him go alone but he convinced her. On this run she wants to go with him to their old apartment to see if she could find something she forgot, with some convincing she’s able to go.
warnings: canon typical violence, some alcohol, swearing, little angst
word count: 3.7k
authors note: this will follow canon to some extent and it will begin shortly these are just some introductory chapters and some filler ones as well. also don’t worry Merle and Daryl will be making an appearance in the next chapter.
series masterlist
For the next few weeks for Hannah it wasn’t as rough as she thought it was going to be. I mean sleeping in a tent wasn’t the best thing to happen but with her being a Girl Scout when she was younger she was actually familiar with it. They were by a river where if someone felt the need to bathe they could and with Glenn making supply runs into town food wasn’t as bad as it could be. But she could see it getting worse and worse as the days went by.
Hannah and Glenn found themselves with their own group. Almost all of them were a bunch of nice people. Dale owned the R.V and was super helpful to Glenn which Hannah appreciated. Amy and Andrea were sisters that Dale had helped out and Hannah became friends with both of them but she had the most in common with Andrea. T-Dog she didn’t know much about but what she did know was that he was a really nice man, he offered to go out on runs with Glenn but was turned down. The Morales family was hard to watch since Hannah knew what happened to her sisters and parents, deep down she knew they were dead and though it was good to see a happy family it still cut deep. Carol is the one she felt really bad for, she knew that her husband was an absolute piece of shit that hit her and with her past Hannah felt the need to get close to her, to try and protect her if something happened to her or her daughter (Sophia). Jacqui was someone who she got along with as well since they were in the same age bracket. She didn’t know much about Jim, he usually kept to himself and she never wanted to intrude on his privacy.
The first people she met were Lori and Shane, while talking with Lori she knew that her husband died and Shane was his best friend. Hannah felt bad for the Grimes family, especially Carl, who was Lori and Rick's son. But she did notice Lori and Shane start to get closer but she kept it to herself, she didn’t want to judge, so she stuck to her own lane.
One thing Hannah hated was the horrid gender roles that were placed on her and all the women. They were expected to just sit and do laundry and cook (though sometimes Dale helped with that). Hannah knew one thing about her, and that was she just fucking sucked at doing laundry. Glenn would always complain about it before the world went to shit, she’d always just end up ruining her and Glenn’s clothes.
She wanted to do more. She wanted to go with Glenn on supply runs but someone was against it.
“I can go with you into town, two is better than one,” Hannah offered as she talked with the group and how Glenn was about to go into town and get some things.
“No, it's best if you stay here,” Shane interrupted while shaking his head. Hannah turned her head so she was facing him giving him a weird look.
“Why not, we can get more stuff if there’s an extra person going,” Hannah says, crossing her arms over her chest.
“It would be smart if two people went,” Dale interjects.
“No this is non-negotiable, you’re not goin’,” Shane snapped. Hannah rolled her eyes at that.
Shane had been the presumed leader since he was a cop but all Hannah thought was that he was a sexist asshole who didn’t want anyone’s opinion unless it alights with his views. But she decided she didn’t want to start an argument at the time so she just hugged Glenn goodbye and wished him luck on his journey. When he was gone her heart was starting to race and the thought of him not coming back.
Glenn was her best friend, even though she knew that was kind of loserish, he was the last person she knew and was the only one who knew what she was going through. But she had a feeling that Glenn would be back and she just tried to think happy thoughts as talked with Carol who was a bit closed off (which Hannah understandably understood) but eventually she began to talk more and more with Hannah.
Sophia, who was talking with Carl, came over and leaned into her mothers arms as Hannah gave her a soft smile.
“What did you do before all this happened,” Carol asked as Hannah rubbed the tight muscle in her shoulder, due to sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground.
“Oh I didn’t really do much, I was a bartender but I wasn’t going to do that forever, I was only trying to support myself and Glenn while I was in art school,” Hannah explained.
“Aren’t you a little too old to be in school,” Sophia questioned with an inquisitive tone.
“Sophia,” Carol chastised while Hannah let out a little chuckle.
“It’s fine, I do know that 29 is a little too old to be in college but it took me forever to find something I was really passionate about and really wanted to do and what I wanted to be was an artist. And trust me it was weird seeing all the younger students there while I’m basically 30 and just figuring my life out,” Hannah says as a small smile graced her lips.
“Wow that’s so cool, I didn’t know you did art,” Sophia says with an awed look on her face.
“I just don’t usually do it a lot in front of people its usually when I’m alone,” Hannah explains. “So what’d you do before,” She questioned, looking at Carol.
“Oh I-I was just a stay at home mom and wife, just looking after my family,” Carol explains quietly as she runs her fingers through Sophia's hair.
“That’s still a job in my book, even though people don’t get paid for it,” Hannah says as she scrunches up her nose a bit.
“Yeah it’s amazing helping this one grow up,” Carol says, kissing Sophia’s head.
“You’re hair’s so long,” Sophia says looking at Hannah's head, specifically her.
“Thanks, I haven’t had a hair cut in some time and I think I was due for one but there’s no hair salons or whatever still around,” Hannah says with a tiny chuckle.
“Can I braid it,” Sophia questions with eagerness.
“Sophia you can’t just ask people that,” Carol chastises Sophia again before turning to Hannah. “You don’t have to say yes,” She says as her shoulders slouch.
“Do you really want to do it,” Hannah questions Sophia who began to eagerly nod. “Fine go ahead, just don’t cut any of it off,” She jokes and Sophia is eager to get up and run behind her. It was easy since they were sitting on a log.
“Uh,” Carol says and Hannah's head flies up and notices Ed standing near the R.V and beckons Carol to come over. Hannah swallows as her throat becomes dry. “Can you watch Sophia I-I have to talk to Ed,” She stuttered as her breathing got a bit faster.
“Yeah sure, take as long as you need, I’ll keep an eye on her,” Hannah reassures her as she feels Sophia's hands working up her hair.
Carol rushes to Ed who ushered her to their shared tent. An uneasy feeling stirs in her stomach as she watches that unfold. Before she even realized it Sophia was done and was standing in front of her with a smile.
“How’d it turn out,” She questions reaching behind to pull the braid so that it was over her shoulder.
“I think it turned out great but I’m not that good at that stuff, I hope I didn’t ruin your hair because it’s so pretty,” Sophia rambled sitting besides Hannah on the log. Making sure it was at least okay and she was relieved when it felt like a braid with some strands of hair poking out.
“It feels like an amazing braid, no knots and no hair loss,” Hannah jokes, making Sophia laugh. “You know I reckon when your hair gets a bit longer it’ll be able to be braided,” She says, making Sophia smile.
“It is really boring here,” Sophia groans, making Hannah nod in agreement.
“It is, but hey at least we’re still here,” Hannah reassures her, making Sophia nod. “Okay I know I said don’t do art in front of people, if you want I can try to do a portrait of you,” She offered, making Sophia's eyes widen and she began to nod fast.
“Yes that would be so cool,” Sophia exclaims.
“Before I go and get the stuff I need you’re gonna have to stay still for some time. I'm offering you an out,” Hannah warns Sophia as she stands up.
“I can stay still,” Sophia says confidently, straightening her shoulders.
“Okay, stay here I’ll be back in a sec,” Hannah says rushing to the tent she shared with Glenn. It was a pretty big one with some space. She got the stuff she needed out of her bag and rushed back to Sophia, knowing she reassured Carol she’d keep an eye on the young girl.
Luckily for her Sophia stayed put and they got to business.
During this time, Hannah was shocked that Sophia managed to stay still since she remembered being rambunctious when she was younger. Hannah asked questions about her life before and she knew her life was rough due to how she talked about her father. It was pretty obvious that he was abusive to Carol and maybe Sophia so Hannah didn’t want to make her uncomfortable by bringing up past fights, even though she felt the urge to strike the asshole.
A couple minutes have passed when Carol emerged from her tent, her eyes a bit red from crying and a bruise on her arm. Hannah diverted her eyes as some memories came back to her. She felt something burning inside of her, a fiery protective nature she felt over Carol and Sophia. If Ed was anything like her ex he was horrible, and she knew that the two didn’t deserve this whatsoever.
“Hey what’re you guys doing,” Carol questions with a quiver to her voice as she sat down besides Sophia. Hannah gave her a reassuring smile.
“She’s drawing me,” Sophia says with a smile, still staying still.
“I think we’re going to have to continue this tomorrow it’s almost night time,” Hannah gives Sophia a sympathetic smile. Sophia nods and they look to where the sun was still up but almost set.
“Why don’t you go and see what we're having for dinner,” Carol offers Sophia who nods and runs over to the rest of the group who was trying to decide what to eat. “Thanks for doing that,” She says quietly.
“It’s no problem really, she’s a sweet kid,” Hannah says, closing up her sketchbook. Carol nods as a bittersweet smile comes onto her face. “I hope Glenns okay, it’s going to be dark soon,” She says, and there was that worryness, it felt like something was squeezing her heart and her stomach was starting to turn.
“I’m sure he will, he seems like a very capable young man,” Carol tries to reassure Hannah and she gives her a smile.
“He is,” Hannah quietly says.
Glenn did make it back and with a lot of stuff, specifically food. Which everyone was grateful for.
In the next upcoming few weeks Glenn kept going on supply runs while Hannah did manage to get the portrait done and it warmed her heart to see Sophia smile so brightly in a world like this. But during those few weeks she’s been sneaking off into the woods to try and find some berries she knew had to be in there.
She still had the girl scouts engraved in her head so she knew when some were poisonous and some were not. She also managed to try and use the bow and arrow she had but it didn’t end up so well, she never ended up hitting the target and luckily it wasn’t a geek. It was usually an animal she was trying to bring home to the others so they could eat something. She wanted to help and provide for the group. Hannah had never felt more useless.
But Hannah felt like she was getting more and more comfortable with the bow, she felt like she was learning at least something with this.
Carol was usually a comfort for her, she felt like she was getting to know her better. Every time they talked though, she saw Ed lurking around and she felt that protectiveness flare in her stomach but she knew she couldn’t do anything about it.
Andrea was someone she started to see as a friend, as they both wanted to be more of a use to the camp. Instead they were just used for doing laundry which Hannah did, just so the other woman didn’t have to do it without her. She didn’t want to opt out and leave them with the responsibility.
Glenn made more and more runs and the more times he came back she felt more and more comfortable with it.
But this time he was going and she wanted to go with him. She wanted to go to their old apartment and get something. She wanted to get a family photo album. Hannah knew it wasn’t a need but she needed to keep those memories. She needed that.
“It’s not a discussion Shane I’m going and you’re not going to stop me,” Hannah snapped at Shane who just scoffed.
“Fine you wanna get yourself killed, go right ahead,” Shane snapped before storming off to his tent and Hannah's eyes narrowed as she saw Lori following him.
“You don’t need to come and protect me, I can do that myself now,” Glenn reassured her and snapped Hannah out of her trance. Hannah shook her head and led her to a more closed off area.
“I just wanted to go to our old apartment and get some stuff,” Hannah says looking down at the ground as she fidgets with her hands.
“What’d you need,” Glenn questioned.
“It’s gonna sound stupid,” Hannah says, shaking her head.
“Just tell me I’m not gonna judge you,” Glenn says, giving her a small smile.
“I wanted to get the family photo album,” Hannah quietly responds. Glenn makes an oh face. “I know I just need something to remember everyone by,” She says as she feels her chest tighten. “I also wanted to see if there's a place that has a book or something on making arrows from wood,” She says and Glenn shakes his head and chuckles.
“I knew that was part of the reason, you and that stupid arrow,” Glenn chuckles, making Hannah let out a tiny laugh. “Fine, just be careful and follow my rules,” He sternly says.
“What are these rules,” Hannah questions with a humorous tone in her voice.
“Uh I guess I’ve never really thought about it,” Glenn nervously chuckled while rubbing the back of his neck making Hannah let out a tiny laugh. “I guess it’s just one rule, try not to make any noises, I can’t lose you, I don’t know what I’d do if that happens,” He says earnestly.
“You got it boss,” Hannah gives him a salute and a soft smile as the two make their way out of the camp and into the city, Hannah remembers oh so well.
Tumblr media
Going into the city was weird, just straight up weird for Hannah. The two of them had to be quiet due to the dead being everywhere so she followed Glenns rule and stayed quiet. It was like the walkers were sleeping and as she walked passed some in a car she felt her throat getting dry.
Glenn told her they should get stuff for the group first (food, medical supplies/medicine, feminine hygiene products, and some things that weren’t necessary but they could use like some blankets and pillows), then go to the apartment they once shared together.
Hannah helped Glenn put cans of food into multiple bags, the food consisted of fruits, vegetables and hell there was even spaghettios. Spotting a red jar she leaned down and examined it and her face broke out into a smile. It was red bell peppers. She knows it’s not some people’s favorite but it was a snack she loved to eat.
Hearing a pstt Glenn turned to Hannah who was holding the jar with a wide grin on her face. He shook his head and let out a quiet laugh.
‘Of course she’d take those’ Glenn thought.
Shrugging Hannah put the jar into the bag, alongside the other canned/jarred items they found for the whole group.
Finally after getting all the supplies they made their way to their apartment and Hannah froze as she stood in front of the building. Flashes of all dead walking passed the door as she put the chair up against the door knob to keep them out. The one who tried to take a bite out of her came to her memories like it was a movie.
“Hannah, we have to be quick, let’s go,” Glenn touched Hannah’s arm trying to snap her out of it. He was worried, she just stood there, her face slightly traumatized from the events they had faced the last time they were there. He wanted to comfort but they had to get this done before things got bad or the sun set.
Swallowing the saliva trying to clear her dry throat. She nodded and followed Glenn closely up to their apartment, trying to remain as quiet as possible. Dead carcasses laid on the stairs and it turned out they were actually dead and they wouldn't be coming back. That didn’t quench her fears though, there could be some more and she prepared herself for that and grabbed the hunting knife Glenn had found for her while on a run. She was willing to do anything to protect her brother.
Finally making their way to the door, Glenn slowly opened it and he actually had to push it harder due to the fact that the chair was still there. The door moving made a little noise and Hannah's face clenched in worry. But standing there for a few moments the two made their way into the old apartment.
It was like looking at a time capsule.
There was dust covering the counter top and the furniture, as Hannah dragged her finger on the couch she brought her hand up and saw that there was a large layer of dust.
“C’mon we have to get the stuff before it gets dark,” Glenn says, breaking Hannah out of her trance. Clearing her throat she nodded and made her way into her bedroom and entered her closet.
Kneeling down, she scoured through the leftover clothing trying to find the old photo album and she was starting to get a bit frustrated when she couldn’t. She swore it was there, it had to be there. She let out a sigh of relief when she found it and opened the old book and let a side smile across her face as she saw a photo of her and Glenn with her mom and dad.
Glenn knelt down beside her and noticed the picture he gave her a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder.
“They’re not gone you know that right, they’ll always be in our memories,” Glenn wisely says, letting out a shuddered sigh and before any tears came out she closed the book.
“Yeah I know that,” She whispers. “It’s just sinking in that they’re probably not around anymore, all those stupid family arguments just feel so stupid now,” She lets out a bitter laugh.
“I know, but they wouldn't want us to feel bad for all of this, they would want us to try and survive,” Glenn says, making Hannah nod.
Hannah moves something around and finds a book that she had gotten at Girl Scouts. It was a book/tutorial on how to whittle arrows and make them from scratch. It was pretty old and it may not even work, but hey trying wouldn’t hurt her. “Looks like we don’t have to find those arrows, we got the instruction manual right here,” she says.
“Knowing how stubborn you are, you’ll do anything to make one of those stupid arrows, even if you fail a thousand times,” Glenn chuckles quietly.
“Hey! I’m not the only one who’s stubborn,” Hannah defends herself while standing up and grabbing the bags she was carrying and putting both of the books in them as well.
“It’s like comparing apples to oranges, when you have your mind set on something you’ll do it while me, I like to think that I’ll give up shortly after,” Glenn explains.
“Sure you do,” Hannah playfully rolls her eyes while the two of them walk out of the room and Glenn gets his bags.
As Hannah steps out into the hall a walker suddenly grabs her by her shoulders, making her let out a tiny shriek. Dropping the bags and her knife the monster pushes her to the ground and crawls on top of her, trying to eat her. It was like deja vu but this time Hannah felt herself freeze as the monster tried to bite her and she put her hands on its shoulder.
Before she could even do anything something was stabbed through its head and blood was splashed all over her face. The walker fell on her finally dead and she saw Glenn standing over her with a crowbar in his hand, the end bloody.
Letting out a shuddered breath she pushes it off her and stands up and grabs her bags and knife.
“Let’s get out of here before more come,” Hannah says as she feels herself shaking a bit.
“Don’t you want to clean yourself up a bit,” Glenn says, wiping some of the blood off of her worry written all over his face.
“No, who knows how many more there are, we have to go before things get worse,” Hannah explains and Glenn nods and they both quietly walk down the stairs.
On the way back to the camp neither of them knew that there were some newcomers that Shane had decided to let in due to the fact that they could hunt.

JUST ONE YESTERDAY - the walking dead
Tumblr media
okay, well, hello.
i don’t know if anyone might be interested but i started a fic about the walking dead. yeah ! it’s a daryl dixon x fem!oc, who has a name and a personality :) it’s not a x reader (also an male!oc x fem!oc !)
you can either find it in wattpad or ao3 ! it’s under the same user name as this one : itschlorosis :)) want to remind you that english is not my first language so there might be mistake, i’m sorry ! it would mean a lot if you’d check it out !
i might ad that it’s my birthday today (not trying to bribe you or anything lmao). anyways, i hope you have a great day, evening or whatever :))
little gift, here is a sneak peak of the first chapter :
« - IT HAD BEEN ONE HELL OF A NIGHT. Lexie was exhausted; they had been running for hours, putting as much distance as they could between themselves and the recently overrun military base. Victoire had been crying non-stop; it was nerve-wracking, but Mathias didn’t say anything. Every time Lexie sighed, she received a dirty look. Everybody was on edge, high on adrenaline and fear, and that's how they had run for so long.
Hours before the chaos they found themselves in, the trio—though not truly a trio at that time—was safe and sound at the Atlanta Military Base, the AMB. It was surrounded by protective walls and situated far enough from the city that encounters with the biters were not as common. Life there wasn’t so bad. Lexie spent her time in the infirmary, learning medical procedures. Victoire had her students, whom she taught every day, along with other children present in the camp. Mathias oversaw every run outside of the walls, interviewed newcomers, and prepared expeditions. It was not the best life possible, but it was a calm one, as calm as living through the end of the world could be. Before everything fell apart, they had never interacted; Mathias was the only link between the two women. »

𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝖈𝗈𝗅𝗈𝗋 𝗈𝖿 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, daryl dixon. ( teaser )
Tumblr media
▏﹒﹒ fic rating: R-- this fic is meant for mature ( 18+ ) audiences only. minors do not interact. ▏﹒﹒ warnings: violence, death, walking dead level gore, suicide / suicidal ideations, mentions + descriptions of abuse and mental illness, suggestive / sexual themes. these are warnings needed throughout the series. will be updated if needed. ▏﹒﹒ desc: the silence is often deafening. you find, however, that it is easier this way, easier to fade away. to blend into the background, to be another blur of a face— easily forgotten, & overlooked. you prefer it that way, the solitude. after all, if you are alone who will be around to question the parts about you that you don’t quite understand? the stoic expression that hardly cracks, the calcutative mannerisms, the burns on your forearms? you don’t mean to seem apathetic. it is just easier that way. ▏﹒﹒ notes: this fic is still in writing! this is simply a teaser for it & the first chapter will be posted soon. a taglist for this will be created, so if you're interested pls let me know <3 ( masterlist here! )
Tumblr media
fiddling with the woven bracelets, her gaze stays glued to the way they rub against her wrists. he can’t help but feel like there's something different in her expression-- almost like there was finally something there. there is something that aches deep within him as he watches her once stoic facade break slowly like glass chipping underneath the pressure of crisp, harsh winter wind. “have you ever heard of the story of the two birds on the wire?”
his eyebrows furrow, lips twitching downward. “naw,” he tells her. “i ain’t never ‘eard of it.”
“well, there's two birds on a wire,” she starts. he watches as her eyes finally look up, but not at him; part of him is disappointed that she didn't quite catch his eyes, but the other is sure he would have froze on the spot, like a gazelle in headlights; her gaze, much like others have described, is blinding, and he was sure he wasn’t too fond of anything remotely close to spotlight. she watches the fire in front of them crackling and in the embers glow he can see pain etched in the cracks chipped in her broken look. he didn’t think his chest could tighten any more than it already has. its become a common thing with her now. hes sure that, with her, hes never sure just about anything anymore. “one bird says c’mon and flies away, the other watches ‘em close and says i'm tired. tells ‘em that he wants to fly, too, but he's lying, because see, they’re two birds of a feather, swore to each other that they are always gonna stay together, but ones never going to let go of that wire. so the one that does want to fly is left with an impossible choice.”
see, he can remember quite clearly the day he finally felt understood-- heard, even if he didn’t speak a single word. he associates such a day with the smell of burning wood, maple tree sap, and the feeling of wet grass and moonshine on his skin. daryl dixon also remembers this as the day he fell hard, harder than that day at the quarry, and boy did he fall hard that day.
“does the bird stay with him on the wire, or fly away?”

hey guys!! i have one request left to complete then i have something special in the works for you <3 so i've had this big idea for a longggg time and i just wanted to introduce it first..
i am in the process of writing a long series (maybe 10-20 or more chapters) about my fem!original character x daryl dixon! her name is kateryna starkovich and it basically follows Kat (her nickname) and Daryl as they become best friends and eventually lovers. i'm thinking it should span basically seasons 1 through 11. it begins with her being in a fairly toxic relationship with Shane (which is how she winds up with the main group) and is basically with a TWD rewrite with more romance!! i promise i will make it perfect! also very sorry but this series won't involve smut or NSFW content as i'm not comfortable writing about that at the moment.. also hot take good fics/series don't need smut to be a worthy read?
i have yet to come up with a name for this series 😭 i just wanted to let you guys know that i am very excited about where this is going. this is definitely the biggest project i've ever decided to write, and i really really hope that you guys will love my OC and her beautiful relationship with Daryl as much as i do!! i have been planning this for so long so let the fluff commence!!!

“You’re ridiculous.” Rick spoke with a scoff.
Daryl’s eyes narrowed slightly at the man, not necessarily because of what he had claimed, but because it almost seemed like he hadn’t listened to him at all.
He already felt a little ashamed going to his friend in the first place to talk about how he was feeling, something the man rarely ever did. But that alone showed how desperate he seemed to be for any kind of advice, willing to put himself out there to express what had been going through his mind recently in hopes of some sort of reassurance.
He didn’t really know what had been going on with him recently, but ever since the group had made it to Alexandria, his insecurities slowly began to eat him alive. He started to take note of his appearance a little more, now that they actually had mirrors in the houses provided for them, seeing for himself how much older and tired he really was. It shouldn’t have bugged him as much as it did, but yet, it seemed to be all he thought about. And that constant loop of thoughts only traveled to another, thinking about how much living on the road seemed to age him, while the woman he was madly in love with stayed so young and beautiful.
She was absolutely perfect, not a single flaw, while he on the other hand had countless ones that he couldn’t seem to just get over and ignore. But that wasn’t the only aspect about her that seemed to cloud over his mind. She was quite the extrovert, making friends everywhere she turned as she was constantly radiating such a good and friendly energy. It even drew him in towards her from the start, falling victim to her charming personality. Though it wasn’t her kindness that made him a little more self conscious than before; it was the fact that a few younger men had obviously taken a liking to her natural sweetness ever since they moved here.
Now he knew that she would never cheat on him, the thought never even crossed her mind, but that still didn’t stop his jealousy from bubbling over to a point of no return. Wanting to beat the shit out of any guy who looked at her for just a little too long. He wasn’t blind by any means, and some of them had a hard time hiding the sneaky glances they were taking at his woman whilst she was just in her own little world.
Though the longer he seemed to stew over it for the months and months they had lived there, it made him start to wonder if maybe she would be better off with someone else. Someone a bit younger, more energetic, more outgoing. Someone that matched her personality better than he did. It was no secret that they were polar opposites, but he always imagined that they completed each other in a way, not even thinking twice about it. However, now that he had all the time in the world to think, it slowly started to consume him, thinking more about how he didn’t deserve her at all. But hell, maybe no one deserved her.
The man then seemed to snap out of his thoughts, scoffing toward Rick who was looking at him with a small smile, “Man, m’ bein serious.” he grumbled.
“So am I.” Rick shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pockets as he tilted his head a bit at him, “I really don’t think you have anything to worry about man. You two are always attached at the hip, she loves you…I think you might just be in your own head about it.”
He sighed heavily as he thought to himself for another moment, his thumbnail in his mouth as he contemplated why he was confiding in Rick in the first place. At this point he had it in his head that the man was just telling him what he wanted to hear. “I dunno…” he eventually muttered in response.
Rick only shook his head, “You shouldn’t be so focused on this. You’ve always known how nice she is, everyone loves her-”
“Man, that ain’t the problem. I already told ya that.” Daryl interrupted with irritation in his voice.
“I know…I know.” he assured, “I guess I just don’t see the connection of how you came up with the idea that she suddenly deserves someone “better.”
The archer shook his head with a light scoff, “Seein her talkin with those guys…something kinda just clicked that she should be with someone more fit for her…” he trailed off for a moment, before pathetically shrugging his shoulders again, “I dunno.”
Rick honestly couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Although, he could, he knew that Daryl sometimes got like this, thinking he didn’t deserve the things that he was given. But he never thought he would be standing here listening to him speak about how you would be better off with someone else. Anyone who even caught a glimpse of the two of you could easily see how in love you were with each other. He swore the sight could potentially make someone sick.
The man then cleared his throat, “Well…if you want to know what I think, I say you should talk to her.”
“Talk to her?”
Rick couldn’t help but laugh at how baffled he looked at the suggestion, “Yeah, talk to her. Besides, I think she’ll have a better chance at reassuring you about this than I will, she seems more fit for the role.” he joked.
But Daryl on the other hand scoffed, not exactly loving the idea, “This shit’s already embarrassing, why would I wanna bring it up to her? Didn’t even really wanna bring it up to you.”
“Thanks.” Rick said dryly before stepping closer to slap a hand on the man’s shoulder, “But just trust me on this, alright? You need to tell her how you’ve been feeling. Because if I know you at all, I know you want to keep this bottled up. But that’ll just make it worse and you know it.”
He was right. As much as Daryl hated to acknowledge it, he knew deep down he was right.
But that didn’t stop him from wanting to put it off every chance he got, pushing it into the back of his mind as he always seemed to do in hopes that it would just go away. Though he knew it wouldn’t, he couldn’t bring himself to want to think about it right now.
He went home later that night utterly defeated and clueless on how to even approach the topic in the first place. When the time dreadfully came around, how would he even bring it up? He was never good with words, especially when it came to something about how he was feeling. It was all just stupid and complicated in his mind, not knowing how to actually piece together the things he wanted her to know. But he knew he had to try.
The front door opened and shut with a small creak as he entered the house, kicking his dirty boots off to the side before he softly called out your name. But all was quiet, not a single sound of your voice calling back to him, to which he only assumed you were still out somewhere in the community. It wasn’t often you stayed out this late, but he silently knew that if someone needed the extra help, you would do it in a heartbeat.
The older man sighed deeply to himself before trudging up the stairs, wanting to get out of the filthy clothes he was trapped in before settling for the night, waiting for you to come home. He couldn’t ever really fall asleep without you there. He didn’t know if it was because he would always worry too much if you weren’t right beside him, or if he just physically needed your touch to relax, but it had to be somewhere in that ballpark. Perhaps both…definitely both.
He entered your shared bedroom with a tired huff, beginning to undo the buttons on his vest before folding it sloppily and setting it off to the side on the dresser. His hands then moved to peel off his dirty shirt that stuck to every part of his tanned skin, raising it over his head before throwing it in the hamper across the room to be washed. He ran his hands through his hair to get it out of his face as he crossed the space to get himself another pair of pants to sleep in, when suddenly his movements stopped short.
The tall, full length mirror that sat off in the corner quickly caught his attention as he saw just a brief glimpse of his reflection dancing behind the glass. He blinked a few times as he knew he shouldn’t look too close, knowing it was only going to add fuel to the already ongoing fire. But a part of him couldn’t help it, seeing as it was too late now that he had taken notice of a few new flaws he hadn’t spotted before. It was like some kind of sinkhole that he couldn’t escape from, looking over the things he hated the most about himself over and over again.
He slowly stepped closer toward the object even though he knew he shouldn’t, seeing himself a little more up close as the moonlight poured through the window just above him to illuminate his figure. His eyes scanned everything he could make out in the slight darkness, seeing the wrinkles that were now more prominent on his forehead. Seeing the dark circles under his eyes from the exhaustion and stress that had been weighing on him constantly. And seeing the scars that littered over his entire body.
“Daryl?”
The man nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound of your soft voice from behind him, spinning around to see you standing in the doorway. Your eyes widened a little in surprise. Never had you recalled a single time where you had been able to catch him off guard, accidently sneak up on him enough to make his heart skip. He had always been aware of his surroundings, the man had the instincts of a goddamn cat. So to say you were surprised when he hovered about five feet in the air at your presence, would be an understatement.
You raised an eyebrow at him in slight concern, “You okay?” you asked softly as you approached him with hesitance.
Daryl’s stomach had plummeted to his ass, a heat rising in his cheeks from embarrassment as you caught him staring down at himself for a bit longer than usual. He swallowed thickly as he saw you walking further into the room, nodding a bit quickly, “Yeah…m’ fine.”
Though the way he spoke was far from convincing, his voice coming out a bit higher than usual, and the reassuring smile he tried to send your way being a little too forced for you not to realize. Your eyes narrowed toward him in slight suspicion as you came to stand right in front of him, taking in his appearance. There was something that was clearly circling his mind, you had noticed for far longer than he thought you did. But you always knew when there was something off about him.
You gently reached out to grab one of his hands in your own, “Come on…don’t lie to me.”
He sighed softly, knowing that he should just bite the bullet and tell you, but he couldn’t bring himself to just yet. “Just…just had a rough day. That’s all.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about.” you said with a slight shake of your head, watching as he furrowed his brows a little in question. “You’ve been acting off for weeks now, you really didn’t think I was going to notice?”
His eyes widened. Shit.
A small smirk formed on your lips as you clearly saw that you had caught him in a little white lie. It was written all over his face. You squeezed his hand in reassurance, “I’m not upset…I just want you to talk to me.”
He knew he couldn’t avoid it forever, especially after Rick gave him that little wake up call earlier to just rip the bandage off. But he hoped he could put it off for at least a few more days, wanting a little more time to prepare the things he wanted to express to you honestly. Though he could tell just by the way you were looking up at him, that you wanted answers, and he couldn’t just ignore what was standing right before him.
He sighed softly as he looked at the ground for a moment, before slowly nodding his head, “Alright…” he started, not even knowing where to take this. “Look…maybe…maybe this ain’t workin.” he blurted without thinking.
Your eyes widened a little, “What?”
Daryl’s eyes then grew as well realizing just how bad that sounded, quickly shaking his head, “No, no, I- I mean…that ain’t how I meant for it to sound at all.” he reassured, before taking another moment to collect his racing thoughts. “I’ve been…thinkin recently and…I ain’t gettin any younger. Hell, I feel like I aged five extra years just from bein out on the damn road for so long.”
You nodded along slowly, not really seeing where this was heading, “So?”
He sighed softly, “So…I’ve been thinkin bout how…maybe…ya deserve to be with someone a little more fit for ya. Someone younger than me…someone who can give ya what I can’t.” he spoke almost regrettably, like he dreaded even saying those words out loud in the first place.
The truth was, he never wanted to let you go, that was a knowing fact that didn’t need to be proved. But at the same time, he didn’t want to hold you back from a chance at a better life. One that you so clearly deserved.
But your expression seemed to soften drastically, now hearing his explanation out loud, it all seemed to click in your head. Why he had been acting off for the longest time, it was because he was just thinking too much about something that meant absolutely nothing. When you first noticed his odd behavior, you automatically assumed you had done something wrong without realizing. But now hearing it out loud, hearing how hurt he sounded, all you wanted to do was hold him and never let him go. Wanting to reassure him for the rest of your lives if you had to that he was truly the only man you would ever want.
A small huff passed through your lips, “Sweetie…that’s what this is about?”
Daryl shrugged a little in response, “Well…yeah. I’ve seen ya makin friends with a lot of the people round here…it just crossed my mind that…maybe-”
“Stop.” you said gently as you moved even closer to him, reaching up to give his arms a gentle squeeze, “Don’t say another word.”
His gaze softened as he stared down at you, regret filling him completely as he saw just how his words had affected you.
“I love you…so much.” you whispered as your gripped his arms a little tighter, “I’m not looking at anyone else…I don’t want anyone else. No one else on this whole damn planet would be a better fit for me than you. I don’t need some younger guy. I’m not even friends with them, they only come talk to me if they have a question about something. And most of them aren’t very bright.” you said bluntly, earning a small chuckle from him. “I just wish you had told me about this sooner.”
He bit his lip a bit shamefully, “I know…m’ sorry. I just thought…ya might be better off-”
“I won’t.” you insisted, “You’re all I will ever need…you hear me?”
A small smile grew on his face upon hearing that, knowing that you meant every word. Though there was still another thing hovering over his mind. “Even though m’ an old man?” he asked half heartedly, though a part of him was still serious.
You rolled your eyes a bit, “Just because you’re older than me doesn’t make you an old man.” you laughed softly, “But if that’s something you’re really worried about…I promise to stick around even when you’re eighty.” you winked.
His lip quirked up a bit in amusement as he reached out to place his hands on your hips, gently tugging you closer, “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” you nodded, “You won’t get rid of me that easily.”
You then felt his thumbs start to rub soothingly along your hip bones, still a little unsure if this was truly what you wanted. To be with someone like him. “Ya promise?” he eventually asked.
You tilted your head a bit at him, “Come on…what do I have to do to convince you that I want this forever?”
The man was silent for a long moment as he thought to himself, absentmindedly still running his thumbs along your hips as he stared down at you. The truth was he didn’t really need anymore convincing than what you had already told him. Just by the small bit of reassurance you provided, he felt as though he was lighter, a weight being lifted from his shoulders knowing you were his. But still, he couldn’t imagine a more perfect time to make it even more official.
“Marry me.”
Your eyes widened a little in surprise, not expecting him to be so blunt let alone say those words to you at all. He never really struck you as someone who would want to get married at a time like this, but it’s not like you minded. As long as you were with him, that’s all that truly mattered to you.
Only now it felt as if the wind was knocked out of you, hearing him utter those words so clearly as if he meant it with his entire being. You couldn’t help but laugh a bit nervously, “Don’t joke about that, cause you know I will.”
He smiled down at you, shaking his head softly, “M’ serious.” he assured, raising one of his hands to run his thumb along your cheek, “Marry me.”
A lump began to form in your throat as you felt yourself get a little more emotional seeing how real this was becoming. Seeing how serious he was. He really wanted this.
“Okay.” you whispered with a small nod of your head.
His smile only grew, “Okay?”
You nodded a bit more frantically as a large smile broke out onto your face, “Yes…yes I’ll marry you.”
He chuckled, pure relief and happiness filling him completely as he picked you up in his arms, spinning you around lightly as you squealed in surprise. Though he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to seal the deal as he gently set you back down on your feet, kissing you deeply as he felt you hum into his mouth. A part of him almost couldn’t believe that you had agreed, wanting to truly be with him forever. But then again, with the way you looked at him, with the way you said yes with little to no hesitation at all, he knew. You were his forever.
~ Thanks for reading!

❤️ Built For This World ❤️
Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I look around trying not to lose my mind.
Behind me I can hear the quiet patter of a horse, its low whinnies are the only thing keeping me company.
They won't kill me.
Right?
Oh shit.
Ok ok, I have to stay calm, I can't lose my mind right now.
Breathe Summer, breathe.
Despite the darkness, interrupted by only a few rays of moonlight passing through the old wooden planks of the ceiling, if I concentrated I could try to understand how the hell to escape from this place.
Would it be such a bad idea after all?
I almost miss the woods full of biters.
I sigh shaking my head.
Bullshit.
I'm just panicking and this isn't going to help.
I'm safe now.
I'll be fine here and Daryl won't let anything happen to me.
Daryl.
Another big sigh leaves my lips.
I'll be honest, when he puts a gun to my head I felt betrayed.
It was an unexpected gesture but after the initial shock I think I can understand his motivations.
He doesn't know who I am and the people he cares about live here.
From what I understand and from what little I was able to see there are women here and perhaps even children.
It is more than normal to want to protect them from the new intruder, even if the new intruder is a girl on the edge of death.
A pang runs through my shoulders.
Damn Shane.
That's the name of the man with the crazy look who tied me up as if I were a serial killer.
Without even realizing it, I relive in my mind the meeting with these people on the top of the hill.
As soon as the three men reached us, the one with the shaved head was the first to start yelling at Daryl.
"Are you crazy? What the hell is going through your head? And who the hell is this kid?” he shouted, looking down at me and waving the gun in my direction.
I found myself staring into two black pools full of hate and…madness?
For the first time since I set foot out of that damned woods full of biters, I was truly scared.
I felt a drop of cold sweat run down my spine and with eyes wide open and full of panic I did the only thing I thought was safe at that moment.
I turned my head in the direction of the archer, looking for help, finding his blue eyes already fixed on me.
I know it was an irrational thought.
Asking for help from the man who points a gun at your head is certainly not a smart move but at that moment my every action was the result of my instinct.
I remember moving a little more towards him, sliding my knees on the hard ground scratching my knees, bringing me closer to the archer's legs.
The tip of my left shoulder grazed his knee.
Without hesitation Daryl moved from my side and positioned himself in front of me, interposing himself between me and that dickhead who, waiting for an answer, was looking at me as if he was ready to rip my heart out of my chest.
With bare hands.
Everything about him screamed danger.
There is definitely something wrong with him.
At that moment, however, I couldn't do anything other than look at Daryl.
From my perspective I could only see his boots but better than the eyes of that raging madman.
Now he was my only chance of salvation.
Daryl for his part seemed calm.
Relaxed.
Even too much.
Looking up I saw him take a pack of cigarettes out of the pocket of his jeans and very calmly, as if at that moment we didn't have the end of the world on our heels ready to bite us in the ass, he took a cigarette, lit it and took a long, deep drag.
Spirals of white smoke dispersed freely into the sky.
For a moment he turned his head, glancing over his shoulder, right at my figure kneeling on the ground.
“I found her in the woods.I couldn't leave her"
A clear sentence.
Short and concise.
But also a big lie.
He could have left me to die, he didn't have to take me with him and jeopardize the safety of their safe place.
Another spiral of smoke rose above his head.
From my position I could hear the crackle of tobacco consumed by the flame.
Daryl's attention was totally focused on the man in uniform.
Another useful detail for me.
He's the leader here, I thought.
I remember observing his figure, half hidden by the man in front of me, for endless minutes.
I could hear the gears turning at lightning speed in his head as he pondered what to do with me.
After another deep exchange of glances between Daryl and the cop, the latter moved to the side, kneeling in front of me and bringing his eyes up to mine, studying me for a few more seconds, as if I were a fucking animal in the zoo.
I had some difficulty keeping myself from snorting and rolling my eyes.
All that was left was for him to throw peanuts at me.
The cop ran his hand over his face, rubbing his tired and exhausted features and then finally I heard his voice for the first time.
“I'm Rick Grimes.Who are you?"
“I'm Summer Davis” I stammered uncertainly, using my mother's last name as information.
I had already abandoned my father's surname a long time ago, no longer using it helped me overcome his betrayal.
I saw him nod just once as if he was satisfied with my answer.
"You are alone?Do you have people looking for you?”
Now to anyone this might seem like a simple question.
But not for me.
Not for me.
Was I alone?Yes.
Was someone looking for me? Probably.
Would I have told him?Hell no.
Looking at the men in front of me I knew immediately that I didn't care what they did with me in the end.
The only thing that mattered was that I would never allow their path to intertwine with that of him and his men.
After all, they seemed really good people.
Except for crazy eyes, he's definitely a disturbed son of a bitch.
So I did the thing that came most naturally to me.
Lie.
After all, I had been lying to him for months now.
I also became quite good at it.
I cleared my thirsty throat and I straightened my back.
The first rule for lying is to show confidence when speaking and look your interlocutor straight in the eyes.
“Yes, I'm alone, I don't have a group or a family.I was just trying to get to Atlanta”
Rick's blue eyes suddenly clouded with sadness.
I remember looking at him with curiosity.
Why that reaction?
“Atlanta is overrun.Nothing exists in that city anymore” Rick replied softly, responding to my questioning look.
“Oh…” was all I could mutter.
The memory flies from my mind.
Atlanta is overrun.
I cannot believe it.
I left Washington and arrived here with the illusion of being able to find something but instead?
In the end I almost lost my life to find myself tied to a pole in a stable.
I move my aching shoulders again and a hiss slips between my parted lips.
Why did Shane have to tighten the rope so much?
Where the hell did he think I would go?
After Rick's little interrogation I was left alone, but kept in sight by all four men, while they conversed among themselves.
About what?
Well I found out soon after.
Rick and Shane left without even looking back, the two were too busy arguing heatedly with each other.
And I'm sure that the topic of their heated discussion was me.
Great.
Antagonizing someone like Shane is never a good thing.
Glenn and Daryl instead escorted me into this stable, leaving me here and telling me to wait.
After a few moments Shane arrived with his damn rope.
Prick.
The stable door creaks open, taking me by surprise and tearing me away from my mental ruminations.
In front of it was a man watching me.
I try to understand who it is but then the timid sound of his voice takes away any doubts.
“Hey”
“Hi Gleen” I smile.
“I'm still here” I add with an ironic laugh.
Where the hell could I have gone anyway?
Slowly he approaches me.
His footsteps echo lightly around us.
I watch him carefully while in the dim light he sits on an old chair in front of me.
In his hand he holds a glass of water which he places near his feet.
“I'm sorry about that” he murmurs ashamedly in a low voice as if it were his fault, while with a wave of his hand he points to the rope that keeps my hands tied behind my back.
I shrug, feigning indifference, trying to hide the grimace of pain caused by my aching shoulders.
“Shane is an idiot.I tried to tell him it wasn't necessary but…you saw him…he can be a real hothead” he admits defeated, taking the baseball cap off his head and fiddling with it.
I smile at his sweetness.
Glenn is a really good guy.
“Don't mind” I try to reassure him.
His gaze wanders for a few seconds and then stops on me.
“I brought you some water and these” he says, taking what appear to be crackers from his pocket.
Food and water.
I think I could cry with gratitude.
I try to settle myself more comfortably even though the hard wooden floor beneath me is leaving indelible marks in my battered flesh.
I straighten my back grunting and cross my legs waiting to receive my dinner.
Glenn gets up from his chair with a little huff and after lighting a small oil lamp hanging right above my head he sits on the floor right in front of me, also with his legs crossed.
I blink several times trying to get my weak eyes used to the dim yellowish light.
The smell of the oil burning in the lamp fills my nostrils.
Glenn grabs the glass and brings it to my lips.
I drink enthusiastically without ever taking my eyes off the boy in front of me.
He seems really happy to be helping another human being.
After drinking half a glass I move my lips away, better to go slowly and avoid throwing up on the poor Glenn.
“Thank you” I whisper while the boy fiddles with the plastic of the cracker packet and after a few moments he brings one to my mouth.
I gladly accept and starting to chew slowly in ecstasy.
It's just a stupid cracker but...damn, it tastes like heaven.
"Are you crying?" he asks me hesitantly.
At first I don't understand what it means but then I realize that some big tears are slipping from my chin, wetting the once light fabric of my worn jeans.
“Sorry” I reply, accompanying my words and tears with a big hysterical laugh.
My reaction seems to scare the young man even more as he looks at me with his big dark eyes.
I shake my head and continue to smile, I smile so much that my cheeks hurt.
"Sorry.I assure you I haven't gone crazy but I haven't eaten in days. Can I have more?” I ask impatiently, looking at his hand which is still holding half a cracker.
Glenn seems to recover and giving me a wonderful smile he hands me the food.
Wrapped in a pleasant silence I eat my meal.
A meal that didn't last long but gave my hungry stomach some respite.
“You should be out there eating a hot meal with everyone else” Glenn murmurs dejectedly, looking at me sorrowfully.
“Nah” I reply with a smile after drinking the last drop of water.
“I'm not one of you”
My words seem to hit him and I see a flash of anger cross his naturally kind eyes.
“You are a human being. You are someone who seems to have been through a lot.You don't deserve this” his words are accompanied by his hands waving and pointing to the place around us.
I look around again, focusing my gaze on the open door of the stable.
From it I can glimpse the sky.
There isn't even a cloud and a blanket of shining stars covers it entirely.
I will never get used to the beauty of the starry sky.
Living my entire life in a city, the only opportunity I had to observe the stars was in the summer, when my parents and I went to spend the holidays at the seaside at my grandparents' house.
I remember that every night I spent whole hours lying on a blanket looking at the stars, drinking in their splendor.
I look back at Glenn and, gathering all the courage I have, I ask him the question that scares me the most.
“Glenn?”
The boy lifts his gaze from his hands to rest it on my face.
Gripped by anxiety I shift my gaze towards my boots unable to look at him.
Afraid of the response I might read on his face.
He certainly understood that there is something that disturbs me but he doesn't push me.
He waits patiently letting me take my time.
“Do you think…do you think they will kill me?”
"What?" he responds agitatedly choking on his own saliva.
“No, oh my God!No!Don't even think that”
“And why shouldn't I think that?” I quickly reply angrily.
“They tied me here, alone, in the dark”
I shudder.
The anger seems to evaporate instantly leaving only a lot of fear in me.
"I...I don't want to hurt you. Please, please Glenn convince them to let me go.I'll disappear. You will never see me again.I swear I won't tell anybody about you or this place.I just want to have a chance.I want to live”
I feel my chest tighten and my breathing becomes short.
I'm hyperventilating.
I feel the panic crawling in my stomach as it slowly rises, wrapping itself in my heart and clouding my mind.
I feel the walls closing around me, suffocating me.
Hot tears flow from my eyes.
“Please Glenn” I repeat letting my head fall forward.
Big sobs shake my chest.
I feel out of control.
So far I had managed to stay calm but interacting with this sweet good soul in front of me shattered my facade.
“Hey, hey Summer.Look at me!"
I feel his hands on my shoulders.
His strong and firm grip forces me to look up.
There is a strong determination in his eyes.
“No one will hurt you.Nobody.Rick would never allow it.I won't allow it” he smiles sweetly at me.
I feel my entire body shaking under his grip.
“You know, no one wants a bolt in his ass” he chuckles immediately afterwards.
The veiled allusion to the archer makes me blush for no reason.
The thought of Daryl being out there fighting to keep me alive makes my heart beat with an emotion other than fear.
Why would he do that?
Why expose himself so much for me?
I am nobody to these people.
And yet…and yet Daryl saved me in the woods first.
Glenn is here, kneeling in front of me, promising to help me.
Suddenly a loud commotion catches our attention causing our heads to snap towards the large stable door.
Outside I can clearly distinguish footsteps and frantic voices.
My body trembles without restraint now.
Even though the warm air of this summer night envelops us I feel a cold that grips my bones in a cruel grip.
Glenn's grip on my shoulders tightens, he looks worried too.
"It's madness.Madness!” a woman's voice shouts.
The footsteps are getting closer and closer.
"Wait!" another voice shouts.
This time I recognize who it belongs to.
Rick.
After a few moments some dark figures stand out against the entrance.
Here we are.
They came here for me.
Without thinking twice I curl into a ball pressing my body against Glenn's, burying my head in his chest.
His skin smells like laundry soap.
I can hear his heart beating furiously.
At first, perhaps due to the surprise at my gesture, his hands detach from my shoulders as if he had been burned but after a few moments, without any further hesitation, his arms tighten around my shoulders, engulfing me in his embrace, trying to give me the protection I seek.
I feel the muscles in my shoulders pulling and burning from the unnatural position I'm in but I don't care.
“What the hell is going on?”
It's the same woman speaking before but I'm afraid.
I can't move.
I don't have the strength to look, I don't want to see.
The agitated voices stop, in the air only the sound of my sobs suffocated by the cotton of Glenn's t-shirt.
“Summer?”
Daryl's voice makes me jump like someone just slapped me across the face.
His tone seems worried.
I don't have the courage to look at him.
I couldn't bear to see his eyes.
I couldn't bear to read his placid resignation for what is about to happen.
After endless moments of silence, some light footsteps approach me and a delicate hand like the wings of a butterfly rests on my head, making me tremble.
“It's okay honey.It's over”
That woman again.
I feel her hand move down my back, towards my tied hands.
I feel her fumbling with the rope, I feel a cold blade graze the tortured flesh of my wrists.
Another shiver shakes me violently.
“Don't worry” Glenn whispers without loosening the grip of his arms wrapped around my figure.
I trust him so I try to stay as still as possible.
“Carol”
“Shut up Shane! She's just a kid.You should be ashamed” the woman hisses in disgust.
Now the voice also has a name.
After a few moments my arms are free.
With aching muscles I move my arms forward and with my hands I cling even harder to Glenn, squeezing his shirt between my fingers and crying even harder.
I don't care that strangers are watching me, that they are judging me.
I do not care.
I'm tired and scared.
Carol's hands continue to caress my back as she softly whispers reassuring words in my ear.
Slowly, Glenn on my left and Carol on my right, support me, helping me to my feet.
I tighten my grip on the boy's t-shirt, burying my head further into his chest as he slides an arm around my waist.
Carol instead wraps her arm around my shoulders and the three of us walk towards the door.
Towards the public who witnessed and is witnessing my pathetic mental breakdown.
The few steps that separate me from the exit seem to expand, becoming miles in my head.
I feel like I'm walking my own personal green mile.
My walk of shame.
I feel tired, empty...as if panic has drained every crumb of who I am.
A few steps from the door Carol slows down until we are forced to stop.
“You should be ashamed.Everyone” she repeats.
“Especially you” she adds after a few seconds.
I risk a glance in the direction of her gaze.
And my eyes meet the archer's contrite ones.
I feel an uncontrollable blush color my cheeks, totally embarrassed I look down again.
Glenn tightens his grip on my body.
“Come on dear” Carol whispers in my ear again.
Now there is no longer any trace of anger in her voice but only an infinite sweetness.
We start walking again and as we finally get out into the open air I feel my heart getting lighter.
The grip that oppressed me until a few minutes ago seems to lighten with each step that takes me further and further away from that place.
"Where do we go?" I croak, sniffing at her and finally lifting my head from my refuge.
I straighten my back, popping several vertebrae.
I can finally give a face to that sweet voice.
Carol has short silvered hair and eyes as blue as the sea, full of sweetness and pain.
She reminds me a bit of my mother.
She smiles at me in a reassuring way, pointing with her hand to a point in front of us.
“Let's go somewhere safe and quiet, okay?Nothing will happen to you, I promise”
With my gaze I follow the direction of her hand and a few meters from us I see an RV.
I look at Glenn and he nods his head reassuringly, inviting me to continue.
Once we reach our destination, Glenn opens the door of the RV and Carol helps me up the steps.
“Now I'll help you get cleaned up.Glenn can you go get a real meal for our new guest?” Carol murmurs softly.
Glenn nods vigorously but before he can leave I quickly go down the steps I just climbed and standing on tiptoe I throw my arms around his neck.
Just like a little while ago in the stable, at first Glenn remains still and surprised by my gesture but then his arms tighten around my waist.
“Thanks Glenn.Thank you so much” I whisper with my cheek pressed against his.
“You have nothing to thank me for Summer”
I quickly break the hug and when we are eye to eye I meet his sweet smile.
Then he turns and digging his hands into the pockets of his jeans he walks away.
I watch him for another couple of seconds until my attention is drawn to a figure in the distance watching me intently.
Motionless in the dark of the night.
Daryl.
“Let's go” Carol whispers, drawing my attention and inviting me to enter the RV again.
Once back, Carol accompanies me to where there is a bed, then indicating it with a wave of her hand and another reassuring smile.
I sit down without saying a word as the woman walks away.
The bed under me is so soft that my brain does nothing but scream at me to lie down, to rest my tired and exhausted limbs but I can't.
I have to stay alert as long as possible.
I have to understand what's happening.
I have to understand what will happen to me.
I don't feel ready to let my guard down yet even if something tells me I can trust these people.
Or at least I can trust Carol.
And Glenn.
And then there would also be Daryl.
I think back to his eyes, in that stable.
I can't decipher his look.
The regret in his eyes, the way he whispered my name when he saw me trembling in Glenn's arms.
What does it mean?
My thoughts are interrupted by Carol's return, in her hands she has a basin full of water.
She sits next to me keeping a certain distance, I'm sure she does it to show me that she doesn't want to invade my space.
With slow and measured gestures she grabs a small towel and dips it in the water after which she begins to clean my face, my neck, my arms, being careful not to rub too much on the irritated skin of my wrists.
“I would like to apologize on behalf of everyone” she mutters after a while.
I look at her confused and remain silent.
She continues to clean me gently.
“You know, we've been through a lot lately, we've lost so many loved ones.We are all very stressed and suspicious”
Her voice cracks.
I am sure that among those people there is also someone very important to her.
And in fact her wet eyes immediately dispel all my doubts.
Carol clears her throat, I can tell from the tone of her voice that she is struggling to hold back tears.
“A few days ago, we encountered a horde of walkers”
Walkers?
Is that what these people call those fucking monsters human flesh eating?
“We hid but something went wrong…my daughter Sophia got scared, she ran away and we lost her. We've been looking for her ever since. This is why Daryl was in the woods when he found you”
The last words full of gratitude for the archer come out in a whisper.
“I'm sorry Carol.Really.I'm sure you'll find her again”
I try to smile reassuringly, placing my hand on hers.
I know my words mean nothing but how can I deny a little comfort to a broken hearted mother?
She smiles back at me, getting out of bed.
“I'll go get you some water” she whispers.
I'm sure she needs a minute alone to regain some composure, talking about her missing little girl must not have been easy for her.
I think about Daryl again and why he was in the woods.
Imagining him looking for that poor little girl confirms what I already thought.
Behind that tough mask there is a big and pure heart, the same heart that I saw in his eyes when he offered me that sip of water.
Before Carol can return there is a knock on the door of the RV.
Will definitely be Glenn with my meal.
I smile at the thought of seeing his friendly face again.
Carol opens the door, mutters something.
I see her nod her head at me.
After a few moments, a man I have never seen before enters.
He has a cloud of white hair and a kind look, he wears a pair of elegantly gray trousers and a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows.
I immediately notice a stethoscope around his neck.
He approaches cautiously, smiling at me reassuringly.
A noise behind him distracts me and I just need to look up to understand what it is or rather who it is.
Behind the kind man is Daryl, his gaze wanders everywhere except on me, next to him Carol smiles at me.
“Nice to meet you, I am Hersel, the owner of this farm”
Hersel speaks confidently catching my attention as he extends his hand towards me.
“You must be Summer”
I nod accepting his handshake, his skin is soft and warm.
Daryl clears his throat.
“I thought about calling Hersel 'cause he's a doc.I thought ya needed one” he mutters under his breath, scratching the back of his neck.
Carol looks at him curiously, raising an eyebrow.
My gaze returns to Daryl's eyes.
My heart does a somersault.
He seems almost embarrassed.
My confused look softens.
His gesture is so kind.
“Technically I'm a vet but I guess we should be satisfied with this nowadays” the man in front of me chuckles.
“I'd like to make sure you're okay, I know they found you unconscious” he smiles at me and when he does so his eyes smile too.
“Thanks but I'm fine now” I try to reassure him but the tremor in my hands and especially in my voice don't seem to convince him.
Behind him, Daryl shifts his weight from one foot to the other, biting the side of his thumb.
Our eyes meet again but this time I can't look away.
His eyes are like deep blue pools that draw me in like a magnet.
Thank goodness he's the first to look away, allowing me to turn my attention back to the sweet doctor in front of me.
Hersel smiles again.
“I would feel more comfortable if I could visit you, I would just like to check your blood pressure and your pulse. Then I promise I'll leave” he chuckles.
“Ok” I whisper in response, sketching a shy smile.
I don't feel like telling him no.
After all, he is welcoming me into his house and it costs me nothing to indulge him.
With another big smile he invites me to lift my shirt.
I'm about to do so but suddenly I remember the archer's presence and I stop embarrassed.
I don't even have time to look up before I see him turn his back on me.
Nice of him to turn around so as not to embarrass me.
After making sure that everything was ok, Hersel recommended me to eat and rest and that he would check me again in the morning.
“Thanks Hersel, thanks for everything”
“You're welcome, Summer” he replies, walking away and leaving me, Carol and Daryl in an awkward silence.
What happens?
Why is it suddenly hot here?
Why does Daryl look at the floor of the RV with such interest while Carol giggles?
I reflexively look down and focus on my hands clasped in my lap.
The silence continues, charging me with a strange anxiety.
I should speak, say something.
I lick my dry, chapped lips but when I open my mouth nothing comes out.
Just a strangled sound.
A sob shakes me and then another one.
Great.
I can't seem able to keep my damn emotions to myself tonight.
“I'm sorry” I murmur between sobs, burying my face in my hands so as to avoid the pitying looks that Carol and Daryl are surely giving me.
I hear some footsteps, then someone sit next to me.
The mattress sinks under the weight of the latter.
“Ya safe now”
His voice immediately stops my tears.
I honestly didn't believe that he would actually come close to console me.
God, he'll think I'm pathetic.
Crying in Glenn or Carol's presence had definitely been easier and less embarrassing.
We both remain silent.
I can't even think of what I could say to him.
After a few minutes Daryl gets up and walks away.
His gesture makes me snap up.
Is he leaving?
But after a few moments I see him return with a steaming plate in his hands.
“Eat”
His is almost an order.
Without hesitation I obey by grabbing the plate he is handing me and he sits down next to me again, this time a little closer.
I grab what looks like a piece of meat between my fingers, hold it to my nose to smell it before taking a bite.
As soon as the meat comes into contact with my taste buds, an embarrassing moan escapes my control.
It's absolutely delicious.
I don't know if it's because I was literally starving but this meat is the best thing I've ever eaten.
Forgetting about the man next to me, and about my good manners, I begin to eat with more ardor, bringing larger and larger pieces of meat to my mouth.
Daryl doesn't say a word the entire time but I can clearly feel his eyes probing my face continuously.
“Mmmh” I murmur at the end of my hearty meal after licking my fingers.
I feel calmer now, more relaxed.
This meal gave me time to reflect and calm down.
So with a big smile on my face I turn to Daryl.
For a moment I remain silent.
I was smiling and he was serious, his lips were a hard, serious line.
"Thank you.It was truly delightful” I thank him trying to convey all my gratitude into my words.
In response I get a grunt and a shrug.
I look back at my now empty plate and find myself once again surrounded by silence.
The smile on my lips is now the shadow of a memory.
Daryl jumps up making me jump.
What?
What happen?
I watch him as he nervously runs along the entire length of the RV a couple of times.
What have I done?
He seems to be upset because of me.
Did I say something I shouldn't?
I get up from the bed taking a couple of steps in his direction but suddenly the archer stops his walk and turns towards me.
I think he didn't expect to find me so close because he takes a sudden step back, hitting his hip on the corner of the small table to his right.
Another grunt, accompanied by a puff of air coming out of his nostrils.
“Daryl…”
“’M sorry” he suddenly grunts, making the words die in my throat.
I frown in confusion at his apology.
Why is he apologizing?
His eyes look in any direction except mine.
“Daryl?” I call him and his eyes focus on his boots.
I wait patiently for him to decide to look at me but when this doesn't happen I take another step in his direction and when I notice that he doesn't step back I take another step.
Now only a few inches separate us.
From here I can smell his skin.
Daryl smells like the woods, he smells like the woods where we met.
It is a strong, pungent but pleasant smell.
He smells like wood, musk and smoke.
An intoxicating smell that enters my head.
Very carefully I lift my arm and then place my hand on his bicep, squeezing it delicately.
As soon as my hand comes into contact with his warm skin a discharge seems to pass through my skin, my muscles, my bones.
Straight into my soul.
It's like I've been hit with a teaser.
Pure electricity.
His eyes dart first onto his arm where my hand is and then into my eyes.
And the emotion I read in it destabilizes me.
Panic.
This big, thick, muscular man with a menacing look is totally panicking just because I'm touching him.
His eyes are wide open.
I don't want to make him uncomfortable so I remove my hand from his body and take a step back.
“Why are you apologizing?” I ask in a small voice still shocked by the sensation I just felt.
Sensation that I can't explain and to which I don't even want to give a name.
His eyes are still fixed on me, a few locks shadowing them.
I have to use all my willpower not to bring my fingers to his face and move those locks away.
I dig my nails into my palms, the pain caused helps me concentrate.
When I think he won't answer me anymore I take another step back and turn my back on him and go back to sitting on the bed.
I rest my back against the wall of the RV, stretching my legs out in front of me, trying to relax my sore muscles.
The silence around me makes me understand that he left me alone.
Fantastic.
I close my eyes trying to understand what happened.
“I shouldn't have let Rick and Shane treat ya like that”
Jesus.
I jump, putting a hand to my chest to try to contain the pounding of my heart.
“Damn” I mutter through gritted teeth, my eyes wide with panic.
Daryl lifts one corner of his lips in what looks like the ghost of a smile although in the dim light of the RV it could also look like a grimace.
“'M sorry.I didn't mean to scare ya" Daryl apologizes, biting his lower lip slightly.
I shake my head as if telling him not to worry.
I cross my arms over my chest, softening my gaze at the image of a man so strong, with a dominant aura, so absolutely incapable of managing his own feelings.
“That's ok.It's not your fault. You…you have already done so much for me Daryl that a whole lifetime wouldn't be enough to thank you” I stammer.
His gaze wanders nervously from one point of the RV to another.
Ok.
Daryl isn't even comfortable with compliments.
I leave the bed again followed by the protest of my aching muscles and cautiously I approach him again but this time I remain at a safe distance.
I don't want to invade his personal space but I need to make him understand how grateful I am to him.
“If it wasn't for you I'd be walker food right now”
Daryl snorts in response.
“Yeah…sure” he grumbles without saying anything else.
I roll my eyes even though he can't see me.
This man can be truly unnerving.
His vocabulary is limited to snorts and grunts, what the hell!
In exasperation I watch him as he crosses his arms over his chest, his firm, toned muscles contracting elegantly, his tanned skin glistening under the moonlight streaming in through the windows.
In the silence peppered by our breaths I surrender to the thought that perhaps I will never be able to understand this man.
I'm too tired and anything he does or says only adds to my frustration so I do the only thing I think is wise at the moment.
I head towards the RV exit.
“Night Daryl” I murmur passing by him avoiding any visual or physical contact.
As soon as I find myself outside, I breathe deeply, raising my face towards the sky.
Above my head millions of beautiful stars shine set in a dark velvet blanket while the smell of grass tickles my nose.
Within a few moments I regain a bit of serenity...serenity which is interrupted after a few seconds by the door of the RV being slammed forcefully.
Daryl makes no sign of leaving, remaining behind me.
I slowly turn around determined to face him.
His eyes seem full of anger.
It's my fault?
Is all that anger for me?
Maybe my presence is causing trouble to him with his group.
With Shane.
“What's wrong with you?” I snort without being able to contain myself.
His mood swings make me dizzy.
First he seems worried about me.
He brings me food, calls a doctor and then…then he treats me like I'm a disease.
Like I'm one of those fucking biters.
I feel like I've reached the limit of my kindness for today.
Now that's enough.
I had a gun pointed in my face.
A crossbow.
I let myself be dragged.
Interrogated.
Tied up.
I let myself be treated like a criminal even though I didn't do anything.
Nothing.
The banks are breaking and the words are starting to flow like a raging river giving vent to all my frustration.
“Why do I get the impression that you're regretting having brought me to safety from that damned woods?Well know that if it bothers you it's not my problem, I wasn't the one who asked you!You could have just let me die and come back here to mind your own business on this nice farm safe from the walkers with your stupid water and your stupid food” I spit the words out angrily.
I feel the blood boiling in my veins.
Something in my words seems to set off an alarm in the archer's head.
He storms down the steps of the RV, getting dangerously close, his every step sounding like an imminent threat.
His massive body towers over me as his cruel gaze pins my feet to the ground.
He remains to observe me with a menacing expression for a few moments, his dilated nostrils quivering with anger.
If a look could kill right now I'd be six feet under.
“Is this what ya think?” he hisses.
His posture is rigid, his arms at his sides with fists clenched.
White knuckles seem to want to pop out of his skin.
Honestly?
Yes that's what I think.
I have the impression that once the adrenaline of the moment has passed he is realizing that perhaps it would have been better to let me die.
This thought hurts me.
And I don't understand why...
After all, who am I?
And in the end he could be right because even if I personally am not a danger, the people who are looking for me are.
My life is certainly not worth more than those of these people.
I would just like a moment's respite.
Nothing more.
“That's what I see” I murmur dejectedly.
My eyes fill with tears and I don't even try to hide them this time.
My heartbeat is deafening in my ears.
Daryl looks at me with even more disgust, clenching his fists even tighter as if he's holding himself back from hitting me.
Would he really be able to do that?
This Daryl scares me.
The archer takes a further step towards me invading my personal space.
“If ya looking for consolation sunshine ya have chosen the wrong man.Go cry to Glenn, it doesn't work with me” he taunts me viciously and then walks away without even sparing me a glance.
I turn to watch him as he walks away, stomping his boots angrily on the grass.
I'm totally shocked.
What the hell just happened?
He's the one who was acting strange to me.
He started.
I was kind, I tried to reason with him, I respected his space.
What did he give me in return?
Only silences.
Threats.
What the hell was I supposed to do?
I put my hands on my hips, huffing loudly.
My eyes are still on him as he walks away and enters a tent not far from the RV.
“Don't worry, you'll get used to him.He may seem grumpy but deep down he's a good guy”
I jump with fear.
God!
Tonight everyone is having fun testing the resistance of my heart.
Another scare like this and I don't know if I'll see the dawn rise tomorrow.
I spin around looking for the person who spoke but strangely I don't see anyone.
“Hey!I'm here”
The man chuckles and following the sound of his voice I look up.
On the roof of the RV there is a man, sitting in an old chair with a rifle in his lap.
He wears a bucket hat and has an unkempt beard.
How long has he been up there?
How much did he hear?
I look at him for a couple of seconds in total embarrassment.
Nothing happened between me and Daryl but the fact that this man may have misunderstood our attitude makes me blush to the tips of my hair.
Thank goodness it's dark and I don't think he can notice it from up there.
“Anyway, I'm Dale.If you're looking for Carol, she went that way” and with his finger he points to a small bonfire a few meters from me where Carol and other women are chatting.
“Thank you” I murmur under my breath, glancing one last time at Daryl's tent and then walking briskly towards Carol.

*playing twister*
Rick: Right hand red.
Daryl: *ends up on top of Y/N*
Y/N: You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?
Rick: I stopped spinning like 15 minutes ago. Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't notice.
