Oh, readers. I wish I had news of a new chapter of Crazy Faith, but I don’t yet. Yet. We are moving through the final part of my husband’s brain cancer treatment, which is chemo, and that will be over in late October. He is doing remarkably well, but that is his way. He is such a warrior.
The week after my husband finished 28 radiation treatments, my Dad died very suddenly of a heart attack in February, with no previous indicators that this could happen. He had a lung condition from agent orange exposure in Vietnam, but no cardiac problems that we ever knew about. It was a massive and horrible thing that hit like a freight train. We are all still reeling from it, and the last three months have been a roller coaster to say the least. Because it wasn’t enough already, you know? My family and I have spent a lot of time helping my mom sort out affairs, I arranged the funeral since he was buried where I live and had to be transported, it’s been… I don’t have a word. The year isn’t half over and I’m already tapped. Honestly I’d really love to take a whole week, lock myself in a hotel alone, and write like four chapters, but I’m not sure it would happen. My brain just is so very tired and won’t enter FicMode yet. I try. I reread parts of CF to try and get things flowing, but then I cry when I read about Munro’s death. I won’t always. I will finish this damn story one day.
My Dad took me to see Last of the Mohicans in 1992. My Dad gave me my first longrifle. This is basically because of him. So I will finish it. I WANT to finish it! I just don’t know when. I’m sorry, y’all.

You were magnificent as Cora Munro. At one point, long ago, you were quoted as saying that for the first time "I feel like everything I tried to do is in there." Tell us about the role of Cora, how you tried to portray her, and do you still feel the same? Michael used the preproduction period to study our faces. He'd have me come to rehearsal with my hair up and speak Cora's words. He'd do a semi-circle and just look at me from every angle. I cannot express how rare it is for a director to do this. I also cannot tell you where my interpretation of Cora began and Michael's ended. I often times felt as if he were in the scenes with us, such was his imprint. So when I said, "I feel like everything I tried to do is there," it is less because of what I did than it is a case of Michael keeping his word. Sometimes he'd launch into a discourse, a convoluted discourse about something or other, and I had no idea what he was saying. I'd tease him about it, "What on earth are you talking about?" And he was capable of blushing.

Do you have any book recs for romances with an interrupting the wedding scene?
I doooo, though not too many.
There's On the Way to the Wedding, obviously, but I'll be real: I did not care for this book, personally. I found the hero profoundly dull.
An Island Princess Starts a Scandal by Adriana Herrera has a GREAT sapphic wedding interruption (to be clear, the wedding is het, but the interruption is sapphic, lol). There's a fab "Oh God what am I doing" desperate energy to it, because Cora Fucked Up.
The Leopard Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt has a terrific I OBJEEEEEECT, wherein Harry walks in and is like "that's my woman--and also my baby in her very womb RIGHT NOW" and everyone is like *GASP*. He has to do a lot more to convince her, though.
The Hawk by Monica McCarty has a moment where the hero thinks he's interrupting a wedding. Things are a bit more complicated than that, but he kidnaps the heroine anyway and it's honestly pretty glorious because it underlines his true heart (that of a himbo).
LOL SHIT there's Munro by Kresley Cole, which is GLORIOUS. The hero (Munro) is a werewolf and he knows the heroine (Kereny) is his fated mate, but she a) is human and therefore profoundly does not know this and b) is actually! A monster hunter! And he ends up crashing her wedding to her childhood best friend who Doesn't Do It Like That. But he doesn't actually stop the vows--and then a bunch of Actually Bad monsters attack, and because he's a Kresley Cole hero, he's like "I can actually... I don't know.... kill like, all of them, and save your family, but I'll only do it if you come with me right now (and COME with me later)". And she's like "oh fucking fine I'll go" and they MAKE OUT IN FRONT OF HER HUSBAND. IN THE RAIN. TO SEAL THE DEAL.

In response to Halls Mills School– Earl Munro –1968 by Linda (More) Dryer Lovely to read both my great uncle’s, Earl Munro and great aunt’s Cora (Munro) Yuill contributions with regard to their school Halls Mills. They were both very dear siblings to my grandmother Florence (Munro) Watt and close to my family’s heart as well. All 3 of the 5 Munro siblings loved to write to the Almonte Gazette…

The Last Of The Mohican - a search for clues (Der letzte Mohikaner - eine Spurensuche)

„French Soldier“ in Fort Louisbourg
The novel "The Last of the Mohicans" by James Fenimore Cooper is set at the time of the British fighting the French (with Indian allies on both sides) for colonial supremacy in North America in the Seven Years' War of 1756 - 1763. In the story, the Mohican Uncas and the trapper Natty Bumppo (called "Hawkeye") attempt to free the two kidnapped daughters of Colonel Munro (the commanding officer of the fort "William Henry"), Cora and Alice, from the hands of the Hurons. The fictional story takes place against the backdrop of the true historical events surrounding the massacre after the surrender of fort “William Henry” in 1757.
Our trip to Canada in 2019 also took us to the area where this war was fought. The French fortress (or short „fort“) “Louisbourg” on Nova Scotia occupied an important, strategic position, controlling access to the St. Lawrence River - an important supply route for the French colonies. The fortress is still preserved and now serves as a tourist attraction. You can immerse yourself in the lives of the soldiers and civilian residents of the garrison at that time. The war ended after a decisive battle near the city Quebec with the defeat of France and the loss of all colonies there. However, French culture and language has persisted in this region of Canada (called Quebec). Quebec today enjoys special status in Canada as a “nation within a nation”.

Fort Louisbourg

The Last of the Mohicans (1920), protagonizada por Wallace Beery. Esta película de 1920 ha sido catalogada como «culturalmente significativa» por la Biblioteca del Congreso y seleccionada para ser conservada en el National Film Registry de los Estados Unidos. The Last of the Mohicans (1932), protagonizada por Harry Carey. The Last of the Mohicans (1936), protagonizada por Randolph Scott y Bruce Cabot. The Last of the Mohicans (1992), Una versión española de la obra, dirigida por Mateo Cano en 1963 y protagonizada por Daniel Martín y Jack Taylor, llamada Uncas, el fin de una raza, es una de las adaptaciones más fieles a la pantalla de la novela original de Cooper. #danieldaylewis #michaelmann #movie #cinema #filmphotography #movies #cinematography #filmmaking #director #filmmaker #films #Cine #actors #filmcommunity #movienight #cinematic #filmphoto #cinematographer #peliculas #pelicula #directorofphotography #filmlife #moviescenes #cinemagraph #directors #cinefilos #peli #películas #película #cinemalover #cinemagram

Characters: Nathaniel “Hawkeye” Poe and Cora Munro
Media: The Last of the Mohicans (1992)
Played by: Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe
Setting: 1757, Lake George
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Hawkeye is a white man, but he lives among and is considered family by the Mohican Indian tribe who raised him in the forests, known for his skill at fighting and marksmanship.
Cora Munro is the older daughter of Colonel Edmund Munro who is fighting in the French and Indian War, but Cora’s main dilemma is whether or not to marry the British officer who loves her.
Life quickly changes for both Hawkeye and Cora, as Cora’s escort party to her father’s fort is ambushed, but Hawkeye and his adopted family rescue her, her sister, and her suitor, agreeing to escort them the rest of the way to the fort. Along the way, Hawkeye and Cora begin to fall in love with one another, but their feelings are constantly blocked by mortal danger, social conventions, and jealous officers. In the end, however, Hawkeye and Cora’s decisions will be based upon their need for one another rather than the world around them - a decision that could save their lives.
