Chapter 5
After you finished up with the two children you sent them on their way with their mother and a few pieces of candy for each of them.
As you cleaned up you thought about the clone that you had seen earlier. You were wondering what he looked like under his helmet that he had never taken off. You knew that he looked like all the other clones but did he have a different hair cut? Did he have any tattoos or piercings? These were the type of questions that you wanted answered. You could just ask who he was but you didn’t want to intrude on this guy's personal space.
As you thought about all of it you were so in the zone that you didn't notice Jax had come up to you until he tapped you on the shoulder. You jumped a little and Jax took a step back. "Whoah, it's just me."
After you came down from the heart attack that Jax didn't mean to give you you looked up at him. "Sorry." " Are you alright, mesh'la?" That name again. You had been called that quite a few times not just by Jax but by other clones as well. You had wondered what it meant but right now you didn't want to ask. Not that you minded being called that anyway. You actually kinda like it when they use that term of endearment. It makes you feel special when they call you by that name.
You nodded your head. "Yeah. Just…thinking." Jax gave you a smile. "Must be thinking pretty hard then." You returned his smile. "Yeah." "Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you can go ahead and take a break." "Thanks. I'll just finish up and then I'll go take my break." Jax nodded. "You did really well today." "You think so? I was really nervous." "I do. And there was no need for you to be nervous. I had full confidence in you." You blushed a little at his words. You couldn't remember the last time you had been praised like that. "Thanks. I..feel better knowing that." Jax laughed a little. "Glad I could make your day, mesh'la."
After your little conversation with him Jax walked away and you finished up at your station. Once you were done you packed up your med pack and put it under the little table you had set up for your station then once you had everything put away you went on your break, knowing that you would be here on the planet for a little longer.
Tumblr media
As you were taking a walk around the village you bought some food from a couple of vendors and ate while  you looked around at everything. Even with all the destruction that happened the place was still very beautiful. It actually reminded you of the village that you came from and you couldn’t help but feel sad. You were never going to go back there but it’s not like you could anyway. While it had been years since you were in your village you were pretty sure that everything was gone by now. Besides, who would want to go back to a place where nightmares and terror were built on? You shook yourself out of your memories and threw the rest of your little kebob onto the ground for a couple of dogs to eat once you realized that you were no longer hungry.
You continued your little walk and as you came around the corner you ran into general Plo Koon and the man you saw looking at you earlier. You stood at attention and saluted your general. “Sir.” “Ah, Talia. At ease, little one.” You put your arm down and stood in front of the two men. “It is nice to finally see you out of the medbay. Are you enjoying it?” You looked up at the kel dor. “Y-yes, sir. It’s a nice change of pace.” You could feel the other man staring down at you but you didn’t make eye contact with him.
Your barriers had gone up the moment you ran into the two of them so right now you were being very cautious as you didn’t have a clue of who he was. You were also trying to hide the sadness in your face but with a jedi around you were certain that he could feel it and if he did he didn’t mention it. “That is good to hear, young one. Will you be joining us more often?” You nodded your head. “I believe so. I think Jax wants me to get more field experience.” While you couldn’t see it you could tell that the kel dor was smiling behind his mask. “We will be happy to have you join us anytime, Talia.” You gave the general a small smile as he turned to the man standing next to him. “Have you met my commander yet?” “No, sir. I..I’ve been busy.” This time you did look over at the man who you were now guessing was his commander. “Well, I guess now is a good time to introduce you two. This is commander Wolffe and Wolffe, this is our other medic, Talia.” You held your hands together in front of you as you looked up at him with an innocent look. “Hello.”
Since Wolffe was still wearing his helmet you couldn’t see the way his jaw was clenched as he saw how beautiful you looked up more in person. After what felt like an eternity Wolffe manages to unclench his jaw to break the silence between the two of you. “Ma’am.” You gave him a little smile before looking back at Plo Koon. “I best be on my way, sir. It was nice seeing you again.” “Likewise. And if you need to talk to me about anything, you can always come find me, my dear.” “Thank you, sir.” You saluted both of them and hurried on your way back to the medbay.
Both of them watched you walk away and Plo Koon couldn’t help but feel that there was something special about you. It was just like when he first met you. It was the same feeling that a jedi gets when they feel a new youngling’s power. But you couldn’t be. You’re a little old for that. Or could you be? The kel dor stroked his face and Wolffe looked over at him. “Something wrong, general?” The general shook his head. “Nothing is wrong, Wolffe. I will be back. I have to make contact with someone.” Wolffe saluted Plo Koon and watched as his general walked away.
Tumblr media
As soon as he made it to the bridge on the ship Plo Koon contacted the rest of the council and told them what he had felt with you. “Are you sure she is one of us, Plo?”, Obi-Wan asked. The kel dor stood with his arms behind his back. “Yes, I believe this young woman has the powers of a jedi, Obi-Wan. I have not seen her use them but I feel that she is strong with the force. I felt it the first time I met her and today I felt it again when my commander and I ran into her.”
Mace Windu looked at him. “If what you say is true and this woman does have the force then it is already too late for her. She is too old to be trained as a jedi. If we had found her when she was younger then it would’ve been possible for her to be trained.” Yoda looked at Plo Koon. “Keep an eye on her , you must. Bring her to us next time you are planet-side, you will. We will see if she is truly one of us.”
Plo Koon bowed his head. “As you wish.” Plo Koon hung up the call and stood there at the holotable for a moment. If you truly had powers of a jedi then yes it would be too late for you but Plo Koon had a plan. If you were a jedi then he could at least teach you how to protect yourself with your powers. But first he would have to watch and see if you had any powers at all.
Tumblr media
Wolffe couldn’t get you out of his head. For the rest of the day you were the only thing on his mind and no matter what he did you were all Wolffe could think about. He was so fixated on thinking about you that he didn’t notice that Sinker and Boost had joined him at the table he was sitting at for dinner until a roll was thrown at his head. Wolffe snapped out of it and snarled at his brothers for throwing food at him.
“The kriff was that for?” Boost snickered as Sinker looked at their commander. “You were daydreaming, vod. You had us worried for a second when you didn’t hear us calling you.” Wolffe rolled his eyes. “I’m fine you di’kuts.” “If you say so.” The three of them eat in silence until Boost speaks. “So what were you thinking about?” “None of your kriffin business,” Wolffe mutters through a fork full of food. Boost leans over to Sinker and whispers something in his ear and the two of them silently agree with each other . Wolffe glares at them. “What are you whispering about?” Boost sits up straight and they go back to their food, acting like nothing happened. “Nothing.”
Wolffe lets out a long sigh. “Please, enlighten me with whatever the two of you were just agreeing on. I am not in the mood to play games and if you don’t tell me right now the two of you will be on latrine duty for the next week.” Wolffe’s brothers paled at that thought and cleared their throats before talking. “Well, we were just thinking..that..maybe..you were possibly..” “Thinking about Talia”, Boost shouts as he finishes Sinker’s sentence. Wolffe sat there silently and didn’t say anything. Both their eyes go wide. “You were, weren’t you?” Boost elbows Sinker in the arm with a shit-eating grin on his face. “I told you our vod was thinking about her.”
Both of them laugh as Wolffe stares at them from across the table. “I was not thinking about that natborn.” Sinker catches his breath before speaking while Boost continues to chuckle. “It’s not the end of the world, Wolffe. We’ve all thought about her so don’t worry about being the only one.” Wolffe is now glaring at the two of them but his brothers don’t care as they continue being a pain in his ass. Wolffe ignores them as he finishes his food then stands up. “You two di’kuts are getting latrine duty.” “Oh, come on!” “No fair!” Wolffe walks away from them as they try to get him to come back but he continues ignoring them as he heads back to his tent.
Tumblr media
Later that night as Wolffe lies on his cot in the darkness he thinks about what Boost and Sinker said. They were right: he had been thinking about you. He didn’t know what it was about you. You were still on his mind even now. Whatever it was about you, you had completely entranced him and he had just met you earlier that day. It was like you had put all of them, including Wolffe, into a trance and now they couldn’t escape. But was that such a bad thing? Wolffe wasn’t sure. But what he did know was that he had completely misjudged you just from a few simple comments that shinies had said about you in passing.
You didn’t seem like a bad person and now he regrets not introducing himself to you in the first place. He was just as curious about you as everyone else was and it made him feel sick to his stomach.  Wolffe groaned as he covered his face with his pillow and lied there for a while with his thoughts.
If he didn’t talk to you soon he was going to go mad. Maker, he felt like a shiny straight off Kamino. Wolffe sighed as he placed his pillow back behind his bed and lies back down. Wolffe didn’t know how he was going to make it with you around. But he did know one thing: he didn’t want to lose you. So he came up with a plan to talk to you tomorrow if the two of you weren’t busy.
As soon as Wolffe was satisfied with his plan he rolled over onto his side to try to get some sleep. He continued lying there for a little while longer before the stress of the day finally caught up to him. Wolffe closes his eyes and is soon falling into a deep sleep, dreaming of you and the coming day.

Real Funny - part 3
Something I’ve been slow cooking for a few years, a little all over the place. Some plot pieces aren’t mine, just something I played with.
Trigger Warning; Contains swearing, violence, mentions of nudity and death
After a few tense moments of both Fives and Rex tugging fruitlessly on my belt, the scowl on his face fell away to a twisted smile "As much as I find your behavior appalling, I find your fiery personality refreshing. Now, c t seven five six seven, I want your men to make a push for the capitol, General Kenobi and his men are trying to capture it and he will need assistance."
"Yes sir." Rex intoned as he and Fives finally managed to pull me back between them.
With that, Rex left to muster the men while Krell left to do whatever, leaving me with Fives and a few other vode who couldn't stop staring "Are you kriffing stupid, Val?" He hissed close to my ear through his bucket, quickly pulling me away by my belt. "He could have court marshaled you!"
I tugged myself out of his grip as I turned my glare over to him, practically vibrating with raw angry energy. "Remember when I said I know things?" I growled, slamming my helmet onto my head and flexing my fingers. "I warned them, I warned the Council that Krell was bad. Do you know what he does to you and your vode?!" I snarled, pacing as I gestured wildly, knees slightly bent as though I was ready for something to happen.
"What does he do?" My anger had made Fives angrier and he was mirroring my body language back to me as he stood still.
"All of his plans from here on out, are suicide missions. The only other battle with comparable casualties is Sarrish and that's an all out defeat!" I roared, getting in his personal space. He stared down at me, glaring mightily from behind his blank helmet. "Krell is in league with Dooku and soldiers pay the price. So many soldiers..." I trailed off, catching sight of Hardcase as he toted his rotary gun, glancing at us every so often. Fives would never know, but I was crying, knowing that one of my absolute best friends wouldn't see another sunrise.
"Hardcase dies... doesn't he?" Fives gulped, all anger suddenly gone from him as well. I said nothing as I jogged to catch up with the hyper clone, nudging his shoulder with my head to announce my presence as we marched silently, always on guard.
"Everything alright, Val?" He asked in hushed tones when we finally stopped.
"Don't know yet." I sighed, exhausted. We had been marching for twelve hours by that point and my armor was really beginning to weigh me down.
"Don't know if poppin off to the General is gonna come back and bite ya?" He chuckled, equally as happy that we were stopped at least for a few minutes.
"I don't really care if it does. There's other things wrong, that are going to come to light in a very gory fashion." I hooked an arm around his left and hugged it, resting my head on his shoulder as I thought about what was going to happen.
"I'll have to remember that making you mad makes you cuddly." He joked and I couldn't help but laugh, even with the tears that escaped. We were soon ordered to attack the capitol from the main road.
I wasn't surprised by the order, but I was certainly angered by it "Keep a weather eye out, boys." I warned my assigned squad in a low voice, nearly grinding my teeth as I gripped my sniper rifle tighter. I didn't wait for acknowledgement as we pressed forward cautiously, watching for the enemy. It certainly didn't take long to find the landmines. Our advance was even slower, and temporary, as Fives scanned the way ahead. With sudden cries of pain, the enemy revealed themselves to us by appearing out of the shadows to our sides. I shot whatever Umbaran I could see, not caring if they were wounded or retreating, good men were dying and I knew that the Umbarans would show no quarter either, if given the decision.
Captain Rex ordered us all to pull back to a more defensible position and I walked backwards the entire time, covering the seeming retreat until we were at the new line and firing upon the enemy that had exposed themselves in their overzealous premature victory. When the fight was over, General Krell found us and began berating Rex for retreating, yelling at him viciously. Fives was physically holding me down to my seat on a root as he watched the back of my neck turn red and my eyes narrow dangerously, focused on the false general. Hardcase looked like he wanted to sit on me just to give Fives a break.
Suddenly, Umbarans attacked from the trees, interrupting the beratement and causing those of us who were sitting to jump up and seek cover. "Move out!" Came the order before what was left of us were running off in a new direction with a new objective. It was several hours marching to what would result in many dooms. "Val, you go down with the first team to the airfield. Your squad will stay here." Rex ordered, standing in attention next to Krell.
I looked between the two, wondering what the hell Krell was thinking "Sir, I don't understand why I would go but my men would stay..." I addressed Rex, making it seem like I was ignoring Krell.
"Are you questioning my authority, Sergeant?" Krell barked, coming back into my person space again. He had bubble issues up the ass that was for certain.
"As a matter of fact..." I began, taking off my helmet to face him mano y mano, but a hand clamped itself over my mouth, preventing me from finishing my thought as the owner of the offending hand drug me away. It was safe to say that I gently nipped them since licking a glove would do no good.
"You officially need a baby sitter. Do you have no self control?" Jesse hissed in my ear, officially fed up with my behavior.
"Not when it comes to that moof-milker." I growled, falling into step beside him as we moved out through the mist.
He sighed as he ran a hand down his bucket "I'm not disappointed Val, it just seems like you really want to be court marshaled, or worse." He looked over at me as we walked cautiously in the boot prints of those in front of us.
"I'm just overprotective of you boys. I hate that you have to die. While I'm happy that the advanced aging was nullified during the last round of check-ups, there's still much more that the Order still needs to fix." I sighed, jumping over what looked suspiciously like a Vixus tentacle "They didn't listen about Krell. What else didn't they listen about? My trust in them has greatly diminished."
"They look spooked." A trooper said as some hostile creatures flew quickly overhead, ignoring us. Why they were spooked turned up not a minute later, erupting from the ground with screeches and blaster fire. And of course, it had to be ray shielded. Others joined it as they mowed down men, shooting and trampling them as we scrambled for cover to escape them. I made it my job to collect the wounded and bring them more out of harms way as Rex came with rocket launchers.
"It'll be ok soldier." I assured softly to a man who was missing half of his left leg, dragging him to a sheltered area in the tree roots and using a vine to keep him from bleeding to death "Just breath for me ok? Tell me about yourself." I was keeping him distracted to help him from going into shock.
"I'm C T three-one-one-nine, I was assigned to the five-oh-first a month ago." He winced, clenching his teeth tightly under his helmet.
"Numbers aren't names, kid." I corrected gently, looking through my pouches for something to help with his pain. I injected him with the stim as soon as I found it.
"I don't have a name ma'am." He sighed, slumping to the ground in a relaxed state as I rummaged around for bandages.
"If we both live through this, we can both think of something for ya. How about that?" I asked while quickly tying off the rudimentary bandage.
"Sounds good, sir." He got back up on his elbows as I closed up my pouch and helped him stand on his one leg and hobbling after the rest of the platoon.
"There you are Val, had us worried." Hardcase sounded so relieved that he visibly slumped a little.
"Been a little busy. Give me a hand, ya?" Without another word, he got under three-one-one-nine's other arm and helped me take him to another location quickly as spider tanks appeared over the rise. "Son of all the bitches!" I yelled as we dived behind some roots, 3119 groaning in pain. Hardcase left, going on a mission with Fives as the rest of us tried to out maneuver the surprisingly agile tanks. It didn't take long for 3119 and I to get cornered away from everyone else. I honestly thought that I was going to die as the Umbaran grinned at me evilly.

Real Funny - part 2
Something I’ve been slow cooking for a few years, a little all over the place. Some plot pieces aren’t mine, just something I played with.
Trigger Warning; Contains swearing, violence, mentions of nudity
I grinned cheekily before we all left. When we got back, the war was minutes from starting up again. When we finally got the Separatists off of the planet, we were allowed to rejoin the rest of the fleet and I was allowed to walk around in something other than armor. "Isn't that against regs?" That all too welcomed voice practically purred as they finally made their presence known.
I sat up from the crate I was laying on, smiling broadly "General Kenobi allows me a few freedoms." I retorted, looking up at Wolffe. His expression was particularly warm that evening.
Without any warning, the particularly sarcastic clone pounced, collecting me into his arms and capturing my lips with his as though they were prisoners of war "Do you have any idea how hard it is to be so close to you and act like you're just another soldier?" He growled against my lips in our secluded little spot.
"I have an idea." I purred in response, smiling coyly "So, your place or mine, Commander?" I asked with a low, seductive tone as I looked up at him through my lashes. We both already knew the answer; as a Commander, he had his own quarters. I still shared a bunk bed with Waxer in the main sleeping area for visiting legions. He left our little spot first, and I followed a few minutes after, taking a longer way around to get to his quarters. As soon as the door closed behind me, he lips were on mine again, his hands holding me against his body tightly. We helped each other out of our clothes and laid in his bed, more interested in each other's company, than sex.
As usual, I woke up before everyone else and was out of the room and hid in the mess, sipping caf until everyone else was moderately awake "Missed ya last night." Hardcase yawned, plonking his tray down before joining it.
"Couldn't sleep." I gave him a tight lipped smile before turning back to my caf. I hated lying to my friends and brothers. But if it leaked that Wolffe and I were... it would end very badly for everyone. He gave me an understanding pat on the shoulder, thinking that my nightmares were acting up again. I mentally beat the crap out of myself for keeping a most trusted vod in the dark.
"Anyone up for Nega-ball?" Cody asked, Wolffe and Rex on either side of him. Three quarters of those in the mess stood up and made to follow the three commanding officers, Hardcase included as he tried to pull me up. When that didn't work, he threw me over his shoulder and made his way after the group.
"Caught a live one, didn't ya?" Fives laughed, slapping my thigh as Hardcase fell into step beside him.
My squeak caught the attention of a certain, maybe slightly overprotective, Commander "What are you doing to Sergeant Val?" Wolffe scowled, coming up from behind the two. He was very much not pleased with how the two were conducting themselves with me.
Hardcase couldn't put me down fast enough as he whirled around, blushing and saluting hurriedly "S-sorry sir, we were only fooling around." His scowl deepened into a glare and he had to put his hands behind his back because, bet you ten credits, he was clenching them into fists.
"It's alright Commander, they're on my 'top three most trusted' list. They didn't mean anything besides camaraderie." I stepped up, approaching him to show that I really was alright while essentially telling him that they were my best friends, topped only by him. I felt the two staring at me, wide eyed, as the Commander deflated a fraction and his expression softened.
"Get to the gym." Was his parting order before he moved around us and down the abandoned hallway.
"Dude!" Hardcase exclaimed when the commander had turned the corner, the three of us following at a slower pace.
"How did you talk him out of handing us our asses?" Fives finished, staring at me as though I had grown a third head.
"The Commander and I are friends. He and Master Plo were the first ones to find me and bring me to the Temple. Why do you think I have a grey Loth-wolf on my shoulder?" I tapped my shoulder piece to reinforce my point as they started freaking out, having never made the connection.
"So you're an honorary Wolfpack member?" Fives gushed as Hardcase practically jumped on my back and made me give him a piggyback ride. Bastard.
"I think the more appropriate answer is that I was adopted by Master Plo as one of his many children." I groaned, my knees shaking with every step. I dropped him unceremoniously with the other troopers as Cody and Wolffe were picking teams.
"Val, get over here!" Cody called, waving me over as I tried to retreat to a safe spot to sit.
"Nah, I think I'll sit out. Both Kix and Wark look like they'll fill me full of needles if I joined in." I laughed, warily watching the two glaring medics who had had to patch me up last time we had all played Nega-ball.
He glanced at them, equally as wary "Sounds like a good plan." He nodded, clearing his throat as they resumed picking. "So what's the wager?" Cody asked, hands on his hips as he faced Wolffe and his team.
"Winning Commander gets Val to tag along next mission." Alright, so I was a bit of a floater. Sue me.
"No can do sadly, Skywalker already reserved her for the 501st's next mission." Cody frowned. Wolffe scowled and couldn't resist looking at me from the corner of his eye. "How about this, next time we get leave, winning team gets a day with her." Oh if Cody only knew. They shook on it as all of them stripped off their torso armor and Wolffe's team took off their blacks shirts. I blushed at the sight of Wolffe's barrel chested glory, several small white scars dotting his waist and arms. He knew I blushed at the sight of him, he puffed up almost as soon as I did. The game was certainly as hairy and brutal as usual. Sometimes it was like the clones just kind of disregarded sport safety rules.
Of course, we never went back to Coruscant, instead, moving cruisers so that we could have a better spread in our attack of Umbara. Of course, the Umbarans changed over to the Seppies after their Senator had mysteriously been assassinated.... most likely by the Separatists... but that's just my opinion. The Republic was outmatched, out classed, and out teched, but by Odin, we were going to fight the good fight. It wasn't until the surface of the dark planet that I realized just how much my warnings had gone over the heads of the Council. Krell swooped in and took over command of the 501st, saying that the Chancellor needed Skywalker for some benign reason.
First thing I did as soon as I saw Krell exit his gunship was hide behind Fives and have a panic attack, bucket removed as I pressed my forehead against his back, mumbling numbers in as many languages I knew, as high as I could go and back. He just stood there, one hand squeezing the one that he had pried from trying to scratch at the chinks in my armor. "Stand in attention, in my presence trooper!" Krell barked in my general direction. Fives stiffened as I quickly put my bucket back on and stepped out from behind him.
"S-sorry sir." I stuttered, still trying to regain total control over myself. I knew exactly what that motherfucker was going to do, and my attempt to stop it, had been brushed aside.
"What's your number, Trooper." His eyes narrowed as his lower set of arms folded behind his back and his upper set crossed over his chest. He moved so that he was behind me, ignoring the others as they tried to close ranks around me as subtly as possible.
"Sergeant Val, sir." I couldn't let him know that he bothered me, that he was getting so far under my skin that I was shaking. My head was full of nothing but white noise.
"Are you such a deformed clone, that not only your height and voice are wrong? I asked for your number, Clone." He snarled, stepping closer. I was filled with sudden, blinding rage as he went on a racist rant "You can't even put your armor on correctly!" He spat.
My resolve rocketed out the window at that last comment as I whirled around, taking off my helmet and getting closer to the vulgar behemoth "I am a woman, General! Are you satisfied?" I snapped, feeling Fives frantically hook onto my belt and attempt to pull me back closer to himself and Rex. But I was planted, I would not back down, willingly or not. "My name is Sergeant Valeri MacCloud, I am from a planet called Earth and I am twenty six years old. I asked, are you satisfied, sir?" I barked, using my best drill sergeant voice as I glared up at the rogue Jedi, daring him to court marshal me, or worse, kill me.

Real Funny - part 5
Something I’ve been slow cooking for a few years, a little all over the place. Some plot pieces aren’t mine, just something I played with.
Trigger Warning; Contains swearing, violence, mentions of nudity and death
That night, Krell showed the officers a transmission from General Kenobi about how the capitol was being supplied by a trade ship before sending us all back on our way after watching some missiles come down. My blood boiled at the thought of what was going to happen next and grit my teeth before taking some time to rest. I was no good to anyone on E. A few hours later, Fives shook me awake, smoothing back my hair when I blinked up at him "Is it time?" I asked softly, feeling my gut sink and the beginnings of tears sting my eyes.
He didn't even looked shocked as he nodded, too used to my knowings, and moved aside as I got out of the bunk and snapped my torso armor on as fast as I could. I nearly ran to the landing pad where the other two were waiting. "You came." Jesse exclaimed, surprised that I was sacrificing sleep to see them off.
"Of course I came." I nodded, setting down my bucket and pouncing on the closest trooper, throwing my arms around their neck and holding them tightly for a moment before moving onto the next and repeating the action. When I got to Hardcase, he was ready for me, wrapping his arms around my waist and lifting me off the ground an inch or two and just holding me tightly "I'll miss you." I couldn't help but whisper. I meant it, I meant it to the very core of my being. He was a true friend and always brought a sense of life wherever he went.
He was confused for a moment but then I felt him beam into my neck "I'll miss you too." There was a giddy happiness, as though I had told him that I loved him. I stopped the tears as much as I could, even when my eyes blurred and refused to clear.
When he set me down and released me, I went back over to my helmet and fixed them all with stern looks "You boys come home, ya hear? You come home and I'll teach you any dance you wanna know." I promised sternly, back rigid. It was the only way to keep my composure.
"Yes sir!" They all saluted before donning their helmets and running back to their ships and leaving before anyone could stop them. I couldn't stop crying as soon as they couldn't see me, drowning in my sorrow and mourning as I put on my bucket and wondered the base aimlessly. Somehow, I found myself in the medbay, in a chair next to 3119's cot as he slept soundly. It was only slightly soothing, but it was a welcomed distraction to listening to people breathing, focusing on how deep and even each breath was. No one in the medbay was in any immediate danger.
When the two finally came back, Krell and a guard was waiting, as was I. I didn't listen as Krell lectured the two 'traitors' I was instead focusing on the space that Hardcase should have been occupying. The two were stripped and taken to the holding cells while I went back to the medbay. "Val..." Rex asked from the doorway as I silently checked bandages, never taking off my bucket, to hide my crying.
"Yes Captain?" I asked, not even looking his way as I checked that cheek wound for infection and reapplied a bandage.
"This was instructed to be given to you by... by Hardcase." He swallowed, holding a hand out to me. I finally turned to him and held out a palm. Feeling the ultimate sorrow seep off him in waves, he dropped something small but hollow into my hand "I'm very sorry for your loss, Val." I didn't like the way he said it, not at all. I looked down at the object and nearly collapsed into new tears; it was a durasteel band, one that would easily fit my right pointer finger, with a small group of diamond flakes in the center that gleamed like stars. I staggered to regain my balance as I stared at the ring. He had fully intended to propose at the end of the mission, and he was so confident that I would say yes, that he had somehow procured a ring. I closed my fist around the offending metal and clutched it to my chest.
Before I could do anything else, the order went out for all able bodied soldiers to form up for an assault. I slipped off a glove and put the ring on before slipping the glove back on, knowing there would be plenty of time to admire it later, and rushed with Kix to the front lines with Rex. It felt strange to go into a battle with the 501st sans Jesse, Fives, and Hardcase. When I was finally informed that the 'enemy' was wearing our armor, it was too late for me to stop the carnage. All I could do was run around, screaming that everyone was a clone, no one was Umbaran, and that we had been tricked. All it got me before the end of it was a bolt to the shoulder in close quarters. When the firing stopped, I marched up to the line of men, aggravated and in pain as I held my shoulder "Who shot me?" I asked loudly, staring at the men of my legion. They all looked shame faced "Who shot me?" I asked, sounding more tired and a tad nicer. A trooper pointed to the man next to him, ratting him out.
I approached the man aggressively, scaring the dickens out of him as he backed up "Sir I'm so..." Before he could get another word out, my arms were around him in a hug, holding him close to comfort him.
"It's alright trooper. It's alright." I soothed as his shaking stopped and he started sobbing into the crook of my neck. We stayed like that until Rex ordered us all to go arrest Krell for treason, all of us more than happy to oblige. I waited with the group on the ground, finger twitching on the trigger as we all waited. As soon as Krell was out the window, my rifle was to my shoulder "FIRE!!" I yelled, already trying to blast him out of the sky. My luck stopped holding out as he slashed shallowly through my middle and across my back as the first blow sent me spinning, sending me crashing to the ground in so much pain, I was almost numb. By the time that Kix was able to get to me, I was in shock and everything was tinted with black. He murmured things to me as he rushed me to the med center and put me under.
Waking up from being put under while nearly dying was a painstaking slow process that back slid several times before finally sticking. "Wolffe? Kix? Hardcase?" I asked groggily, looking around the curtained enclosure with bleary eyes.
"Ah, you're awake. You have some explaining to do." Kix said sternly, coming closer with a commpad in his hands. Once he was close enough, I saw the shiner on his right eye. "What is Commander Wolffe to you?" He asked, crossing his arms and visually daring me to lie.
"Do you swear not to tell another soul?" I asked softly, blushing because, ten credits, it was Wolffe who gave Kix the shiner. He frowned but nodded and I beckoned him closer until my lips were nearly against the shell of his ear "Wolffe and I are married." I admitted.
He straightened like a shot, gaping down at me as though I had just told him I was the Chancellor's mistress. "You had better be karking joking, Valeri!" He growled, looking murderous and betrayed.
"I couldn't tell anyone! It would have been an automatic court-marshaling and reconditioning! Please Kix!" I begged, my heart racing with fear as I fought against my pain to sit up. "I'm sorry I never told anyone, I wanted to, it killed me every day! But I couldn't because there's so much at stake." I began having a panic attack, thinking that every friendship I had built was going to crumble from beneath me like a house built on sand.
Tears fell from my eyes and he sighed before collecting me in a reassuring embrace and letting me cry into his shoulder "I'm not mad Val, I was just concerned and a little betrayed. I understand why you never told anyone, but Wolffe somewhat blew it when his Legion boarded and they learned what happened to you. He was here in three minutes flat and sucker punched me when I told him that I didn't know if you would survive or not. Master Koon had to drag him away." He whispered so that no one else would hear as he smoothed back my less than clean hair.
I calmed after a few minutes, relaxing against him and letting him lay me back down "Can I see him? He probably hasn't slept since he came in."
"Yes, but Master Koon has to accompany him..." He warned me as though Plo Koon would be an inhibitor. He wouldn't, but he would ensure things stayed tame.
"Who do you think was the officiant?" I whispered with a soft giggle as his eyes widened like dinner plates. Without another word, he finished checking my vitals and left to go request a certain Jedi and his Commander. It wasn't that long after that the front curtain separated to allow the Kel Dor and the clone into the small space around the bed. "You both are a sight for sore eyes." I smiled in greeting, saluting the General before Wolffe could claim my hands.
"As are you, young one. Gave us all quite the scare." Master Koon admonished gently, patting my knee quickly before folding his hands in front of himself.
"I apologize sir." I bowed my head as much as I could.
"You apologize? What would we have done if your had died, Val? By the Force, we were all terrified!" Wolffe laid into me, not raising the volume of his voice, but certainly raising its intensity.
I know I shouldn't have been angry, that I should have let his fear filled rage flow over me like a wave, but I was in pain, I was sick of laying down, and I was incredibly high on pain stims "Don't give me that shit, Commander! You know as well as I do that war comes with risks. I was willing to meet mine in order to save my fucking men. I know that you've been ready to meet yours multiple times." I growled, zeroed in on the Commander as though he was my arch nemesis. It felt like he was in that moment. Master Koon sighed.
"I'm a CLONE, it's my JOB to die! It's not your job to go on a suicidal vendetta against a fallen Jedi! I want you out of this army! TODAY!!" He yelled, his eyes wide and spit flying out of his mouth.

Real Funny - part 4
Something I’ve been slow cooking for a few years, a little all over the place. Some plot pieces aren’t mine, just something I played with.
Trigger Warning; Contains swearing, violence, mentions of nudity and death
I ripped off my helmet, threw down my rifle and took the position of the Ka Mate; legs spread and bent at the knee, feet stomping, an over exaggerated expression on my face with my tongue out as I screamed the words and slapped my forearms, thighs and chest plate "Kikiki kakaka kauana! Kei waniwania taku tara. Kei tarawahia, kei te rua i te kerokero! He pounga rahui te uira ka rarapa; Ketekete kau ana to peru kairiri. Mau au e koro e – Hi! Ha! Ka wehi au ka matakana, Ko wai te tangata kia rere ure?Tirohanga ngā rua rerarera Ngā rua kuri kakanui i raro! Aha ha!" I made any movements that weren't slaps as slow and powerful as possible as a display of strength and control. I was not dying on a god forsaken planet without honoring at least some of my ancestors.
I ended the call with my tongue fluttering against my chin and my eyes wide, legs wide and arms crossed over each other. The Umbaran in the tank looked both scared and confused, not knowing what to make of the human who was doing some weird dance and maybe having a stroke. With a few stomps and more slow movements, I began the main body of the Haka, advancing slowly with every stomp, fully challenging the Umbaran "Ka mate, ka mate! ka ora! ka ora! Ka mate! ka mate! ka ora! ka ora! Tēnei te tangata pūhuruhuru Nāna nei i tiki mai whakawhiti te rā Ā, upane! ka upane! Ā, upane, ka upane, whiti te ra!" As soon as I finished, two Umbaran fighters appeared and began blowing the tanks to hell. 3119 and I cheered the two who could only be Fives and Hardcase as we moved to rejoin the others.
"What was that you did?" three-one-one-nine asked as we slowly made our way over.
"It's called the Ka Mate Haka, a war dance. Some of my ancestors did it when they were challenging other tribes to fight with them. It is a very important tradition to my grandmother's people."
"Must be nice, knowing where you come from." He groaned wistfully as we stumbled over some roots and vines.
"You boys come from the Fett clan. Mandalorian through and through." I pointed out.
"But you're accepted by your people aren't you?"
"No, none of them as soon as they find out my mix. Being human isn't good enough on my planet. Being purebred is. When you're European, Maori, Native American, Portuguese, and have some roots in Africa, people treat you differently. It's stupid. But the only way it would change is if there was more life in our Galaxy." I shrugged, setting him down near Kix who immediately ambushed the poor kid. I patted his bucket before finding Jesse and the others, wanting a nap more than anything.
"Now I just think you want to die." Jesse growled as he picked me up in a massive hug, lifting me off the ground and twirling me around.
"You saw that eh?" I tried to cute my way out of whatever trouble I was about to get in.
"I certainly saw the last bit of it. How long were you doing that?" Fives asked, taking a turn of hugs.
"Only like two or three minutes." I mumbled, tucking my helmeted head into his shoulder as much as I could.
"You got an Umbaran to freeze for two to three minutes?!" Hardcase asked, making it into a group hug when Fives didn't let go of me soon enough.
"It's a war dance, what do you expect?" I grinned, twisting so that Hardcase wasn't essentially hugging my butt.
"Teach us!" He nearly bounced, extremely excited about the idea of learning a war dance.
"If we have any free time after capturing the base." I promised once they let me go and we made our way to the flaming base to completely conquer it.
At the temporary med station, Kix was seeing to 3119. Cleaning his wound better than I could have, and making sure that there was no infection in the rough fibers of his muscles and bone "You're a lucky kid, you know that?" He mumbled to the kid as I helped clean out a minor forehead cut on the bed next to them.
"Sir?" 3119 asked, confused at how he could be lucky about losing a good portion of his mobility.
"You're lucky that Val found you instead of a scavenger. And that she has rudimentary first-aid skills." He finished off the cleaning with a bacta pad, tying it securely around the stump.
"Ya, she is something isn't she?" 3119 had a slightly dreamy tone to his voice. I chuckled behind my helmet as my patient shook his head before leaving and letting the next mildly injured soldier take his place. Broken noses were always fun.
"Don't go all swooney on me, kid; Hardcase, Fives, and maybe Commander Cody have called dibs already." Cue me feeling terrible for having to lie to them all about my relationship with Wolffe. They all had feelings for me and were trying to compete... The nose under my hands gave a loud crack as I set it and packed it with gauze. The soldier grumbled in pain the entire time.
3119 looked over at me as I finished with the broken nose and a new soldier came with a pretty good slice across his cheek. "Why are you wasting valuable resources on this one c t six one one six?" The voice of Krell suddenly asked as he made rounds through the station. I tensed and gritted my teeth, trying to stop myself from snapping at him again.
"If I don't, he won't be able to get fit for a cybernetic." Kix explained like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"A soldier who can't fight, is a waste." Krell argued, narrowing his eyes at the imagined challenge.
"Sir, it's just the section of leg below his knee. He'll be able to fight as soon as we get him onto a cruiser." Kix was trying so hard to not pull rank. It was honestly rather amusing to watch as I cleaned out the cheek wound.
"Val!" Hardcase called, skipping in, totally blanking it on the fact that Krell was not even ten feet away from me. "I'm sorry, sir." He blushed, standing in attention like he was dreading what fate would meet him. With a scowl and a silent snarl, Krell left the station. I was sure to give his back the finger until the door was closed behind him.
"Don't listen to him three one one nine, Krell won't be around long enough to be any real trouble." I soothed the down trodden kid as I placed a bacta patch on the cheek wound and refused to see anyone else until the kid was in a better mood.
"He's got a point though sir, I can't fight anymore. I'm useless." He hung his head, resting it in his hands as his bucket stared blankly back up at him by his foot.
I shared a look with Kix before removing my bucket and kneeling in front of the shiny, moving his hands and replacing them with my own "No one is useless three one one nine. No one. Everyone serves a purpose. If I ever hear those words come out of your mouth again I'll personally assign you to my unit and make you run laps with me every morning, and I run slow." I spared him a small smile as he sniffed back unshed tears and straightened back up. "That's the stuff." I hummed before ruffling his regulation hair and standing "What did you need, Hardcase?" I asked, turning to the man in question.
In a flash, he went from somewhere between distraught and sympathetic, to bouncing with 'kid with twenty bucks in a candy shop' excitement "Want to decode the enemy aircraft with Fives, Jesse, and I?" There was a frightening maniac glow in his eyes that was a little concerning.
"That's up to Kix and if he thinks he can spare me." I shrugged, trying to weasel out of potentially getting into a shit ton of trouble.
"I can spare her." Kix assured just before Hardcase pounced on me and began dragging me out of the improvised medbay and to one of the hangers. Before the doors closed, I fixed the snickering medic with a metal melting glare.
Fives trying to lie was much more comical in person, even though I couldn't fully enjoy it because Hardcase was DEMOLISHING the hanger, and Jesse had decided to become my human shield as he physically kept my head down and himself covering my upper body, as we hid behind some crates. "Schedule in some Hardcase filleting time in my itinerary, please, Jesse." I growled as some of the rubble from the door skimmed over our heads.
"I'll be sure to join in on that." He agreed, ducking down further until Hardcase was safely docked.
"See, nothing to it." He beamed as he got out of the pilot pod, a cocky little swagger in his step.
Before anyone could say anything, Krell burst into what remained of the hanger with Dogma in tow, one pair of arms crossed behind him as the other had clenched fists at his sides "What exactly happened here?" He fixed every one of us with glares, trying to intimidate us to speak. "Well?" He growled.
Fives took a step forward, his lying face on "You see sir..."
Before another word could come out of his mouth, Hardcase stepped in between the ARC and the General "We were trying to decode the enemy tech sir, when the ship turned out to be booby-trapped. We have it figured out now though sir and they should be perfectly safe." You had to hand it to him, the man did have a pure silver tongue.
Krell frowned and looked around the hanger "Booby-trapped? That enforces my order to keep them on the ground." Hardcase and Fives tried to protest but Krell just wasn't listening. "No other ships are to even leave the ground, is that clear? They are not safe and I will not risk any more men." He nodded before turning and leaving again, Dogma following behind like a faithful pup. I sighed and shook my head, knowing that if I tried to dissuade him from his loyalty, he would more than happily tear me a new one, creating a rift between the men.
