Deadly shooting in the heart of Cincinnati
A gunman opened fire Thursday morning in a building in the heart of Cincinnati in an attack that left him and three other people dead, police said.
The shooting sent people scrambling across the city’s Fountain Square amid cries of “shooter!”
It happened at a 30-story building, home to the corporate headquarters for regional banker Fifth Third Bancorp and other businesses, including popular ice cream, pastry and sandwich shops. The bank building was locked down for most of the morning, and surrounding streets and sidewalks were closed off.
Police Chief Eliot Isaac said the shooter opened fire at about 9:10 a.m. EDT at the loading dock of the Fifth Third Bank building. Isaac said the gunman then entered the bank’s lobby where he exchanged gunfire with police. It’s unclear if the gunman shot himself or was shot by officers. (AP)

Today (2/25) across the city and beyond I have the privilege to be honored by @goldstarchili as one of 13 “flavors makers” in Cincinnnati! This is an effort to raise funds for the @freestorefb Beginning Thursday, 2/23 through 3/7, Gold Star will donate a portion of all Chili menu items sold to the Freestore Foodbank’s Childhood Hunger Programs. The program's three initiatives include the School Pantry program, Kids Café, and the Power Pack program. These amazing programs work to ensure children in food-insecure households have access to nutritious meals. I represent my city anywhere I go proudly! So if you can, go out and grab some gold star chili today! Thank you Cincinnnati! Enjoy the Arts joins ArtsWave to inspire new generation of arts enthusiasts
Enjoy the Arts becomes part of nation’s largest community campaign for the arts

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Museum Center announced today that Enjoy the Arts will be joining ArtsWave as it continues to build a new audience of arts lovers.
Enjoy the Arts, a program in residence of Cincinnati Museum Center, is a membership program that gives anyone age 35 and younger free tickets, ongoing discounts, exclusive invitations and insider information to enjoy Cincinnati’s world-class arts scene for an entire year. The membership has included benefits for productions by the Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Art Museum, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, Constella Festival and Cincinnati Fringe Festival, to name just a few. Enjoy the Arts became part of Cincinnati Museum Center in 2008 where the program continued to grow for the past 8 years.
ArtsWave is the region’s local arts agency and the nation’s first and largest community campaign for the arts, supporting more than 100 arts and community organizations. They share Enjoy the Arts’ mission of introducing the region’s arts scene to a new generation of advocates and enthusiasts through their ArtsPass and CincYPerks programs. Together, Enjoy the Arts and ArtsPass can have an even greater impact.
“Cincinnati has an incredible community of cultural organizations that is critical to the region’s identity and vibrancy, and Enjoy the Arts has been instrumental in fostering an appreciation for that arts community in young professionals since 1981,” said Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center.
Starting January 3, 2017, Enjoy the Arts members will become ArtsWave ArtsPass members. ArtsPass is a program that connects people to buy one, get one free offers and deep discounts to more than 50 participating arts organizations. The ArtsPass also includes offers from restaurants, shops and the Cincinnati Reds, as well as exclusive offers and invitations to young professionals through its CincYPerks program. CincYPerks is open to any ArtsPass holder 40 and younger.
“Like our ArtsPass and its CincYPerks discounts for young professionals, the Enjoy the Arts program has used the power of the arts to deepen people’s roots in Greater Cincinnati,” said Alecia Kintner, CEO of ArtsWave. “We’re excited to bring these programs together to continue the legacy of Irma Lazarus: sparking increased interest in the arts, forging new friendships and fun across the region, and uniting people to drive a creative tide of innovation.”
An ArtsWave ArtsPass is $75 and is good for 12 months. For more information or to purchase your ArtsPass visit www.theartswave.org/discover/artspass. Enjoy the Arts memberships will not be sold after December 1.
