Oh boy!!! Okay I haven't really conceptualized meremine in depth before so this is a bit of a challenge lol

♡: who is the bigger romantic openly? secretly?

Openly: JEREMY. Jeremy. He can't hide his feelings for shit, and he doesn't even want to, because honestly he gets a little possessive and he wants to show them off. Obviously though, that means he can't be very SECRETLY romantic... He definitely tries to hide the extent of his Christine obsession (to no avail), but he'd be overly upfront about how much he loves Michael in an attempt to soothe the wound of... everything.

Secretly: Michael, probably?? If we're going with fanon, he's been successfully hiding his feelings for like 8 years. And even in the relationship, he'd be a little scared to put himself all the way out there because it'll just hurt like hell if he ends up rejected AGAIN. So he's a little reserved in his affection, and often he'll temper it with an ironic undertone (for example by doing an INSANELY elaborate public promposal with the gushiest possible imagery, instead of something more personal and vulnerable).

And don't kill me for not-gay Michael, but I could also see him mysteriously catching feelings for Christine in the middle of the relationship. That's kind of too much for him to bother figuring out at first, both because it's a challenge to his identity, and because, well... things could get messy.

On top of that, even though Jeremy is dating both of them, I think Michael would worry about making Jeremy jealous. And honestly, I don't think he's wrong. When Michael and Christine start liking each other, Jeremy would get really scared that he accidentally just introduced the two loves of his life to each other, and now they're each going to realize how amazing the other is and leave him.

Christine isn't the biggest romantic on either front. I don't think she understands her own feelings very well, so it feels like a bad idea to go too hard on the affection; much like everything in her life, it feels a bit like acting. And that feels wrong.

If you want to complete the meremine triangle, I don't think she'd be secretive about catching feelings for Michael, either, even if she picked up on Jeremy's insecurity. Unlike Michael, she doesn't really embrace the idea of hiding away some facet of herself for the rest of her life just to make Jeremy happy (sorry Michael 💀💀💀)

ღ: who is more likely to initiate hand-holding in public?

Similar answers to the previous lol. At first, Jeremy would not hold anybody's hands to the point where they think maybe he's having second thoughts about the relationship --- until they realize he just doesn't know if he's allowed to do that yet (answer: yes). So they have a very explicit conversation about boundaries, and after that he holds their hands at most opportunities. It's a dramatic switch. He doesn't notice that it's weird to do that constantly, like, even when he's going up to the teacher after class with Christine's hand still in his. But he does get embarrassed when people point it out, and when Christine or Michael swing his hand with theirs. Sometimes he'll refuse to hold hands a few days after someone points it out.

Christine initiates it pretty often too, though. She enjoys the cliche of arm-swinging down the hallway and how embarrassed it makes everyone else. She also really appreciates a nice hand-hold when she's feeling small and alone, which is somewhat often in school, and she's a physically affectionate person in general.

But she has some mixed feelings about doing it constantly and unironically --- because just in general in meremine, I think she feels threatened by gender roles. She definitely picks up on Jeremy's possessiveness, and perhaps Michael's initial sort of disinterest in women (f), so she pays a lot of attention to stuff like splitting the check and anything that makes her seem like "the girlfriend" instead of a person. So hand-holding can be a little iffy, but in some contexts it also helps her affirm control, like using it to comfort or embarrass them.

Michael's tough because I like extremely touchy Michael but also Michael who hates touching.... Really hard choice honestly. I guess in general I don't think he'd be the one to initiate public hand holding most of the time. For one, I think he spends most of his time in public trying to pretend he's somewhere else; second, I don't think he'd derive much pleasure from sustained contact like that, as opposed to a bigger, more instantaneous gesture like picking Jeremy up/tasing/going "guess who" or whatever. He would enjoy stuff like that --- and arm swinging! --- for the sake of making Jeremy die of humiliation.

Him and Christine both do lovey-dovey arm swinging to Jeremy, and one time with each other; the latter they realized wasn't worth it because it was only ironic but made Jeremy feel left out lmao. In their individual interactions with Jeremy, Michael's the only one to push it a little too far sometimes; Christine is just a little more sympathetic to Jeremy's concern about his public image.

That said, post Christine-Michael union, they're a LOT more awkward about it than they are with Jeremy, and I think maybe they would both initiate it with each other because it's scary and new and they're still trying to figure out what how exactly the other is feeling. Which is of course humiliating to both of them because neither is used to that role.

jake dillinger headcanons

• loves pastel colors!!! • post-squip, when everyone is "finding themselves" (rich and being bi, jeremy learning that he's not worthless, etc), jake decides to experiment with fashion and it's Literally Beautiful • his favorite clothes include: high waisted shorts, really big jackets, round sunglasses, beanies!!!!! (and all hats really jake develops a hat obsession he owns like thirty) • he comes out as pan by showing up to school in the pan flag colors and making puns about it all day • he's unironically loved carly rae jepsen for several years, but nobody believes him when he says that she's his favorite singer. they all think he's making it up as a joke but he's like, "no!! her songs are really good!!!!" • has an expansive collection of archie comics. he's read all of them. his favorite character is archie b/c he can relate to him. • he plays like twelve instruments and michael is in awe of his talent • one of these instruments is the bass clarinet and one time chloe called it a saxophone and both rich and christine had to hold him back from strangling her • he tries to figure out cool tricks on his wheelchair (b/c that's how he is), but always ends up falling and hurting himself (b/c that's how he is) • he steals michael's vintage sodas whenever they hang out • whenever he has a nightmare about the squip, or the fire, he calls michael because he's usually awake and always knows exactly what to say • he and rich's first date is a carly rae jepsen concert (its canon sorry I don't make the rules) • as I've said before and I'll say again: MY 👏 BOY 👏 HAS 👏 NO 👏 FILTER 👏 • he's actually really amazing at archery and shows off a lot b/c it's one of the only school sports he can do post-squipcident ('cause of his legs) • he has adhd and minor social anxiety that he bottles up a lot • he is honest to a fault • he partakes in So Much underage drinking that by the time he actually turns 21 there's like, no point • he has a fake ID to buy alcohol, but nobody ever really asks to id him b/c he looks like he's thirty • he's actually the youngest of the group (by like a month) • he's an animal lover!!!! he has a cat named sbarro that he found as a kitten on the streets, and later in life he adopts a puppet from a shelter • post-musical, he gets an apartment to live in, and it becomes everyone's go-to hangout spot. he doesn't complain, but sometimes it can be,,,,, annoying ("rich if you're gonna hang out here all the time, would it KILL you to do the dishes ONCE???" "it probably would" "UGH") • rich moves in with him later, and they're super happy • he's SUCH A GOOD CHEF!!! he can cook LITERALLY ANYTHING • he and jeremy are both stress bakers, so sometimes they'll be hanging out at jake's place and rich will show up to Hundreds of baked goods in the kitchen. the entire apartment is covered in a thin layer of powdered sugar. everyone is unsure of how they feel about it. there's a cupcake stuck to the ceiling. • sorry this was long i just Love Jakey D

This isn't a prompt or headcanon but I just love when I see people talking about the squip squad doing things in NJ. I'm from NJ and it's so fun to hear people hc them going on the boardwalks and stuff. Do you have anymore headcanons for them doing things in NJ? ((This is a weird ask crap I'm sorry))

No no that’s so great I’m glad you can enjoy the headcanons! I’m personally not from NJ myself, Ima Mass girl, but I love visiting NJ, so I’ll have to base these on my experiences at wild woods and Atlantic City :0 !!

- The scariest things about their trips to these places is Michael because they always go when it’s sweltering hot but he’s still wearing that damn hoodie.

-One time at Atlantic City Jeremy and Michael walked into a casino by accident because they saw a free buffet sign, and then walked into a room full of slot machines with a giant sign saying “no one under 18 allowed”, got scared, and ran out

-When they told Rich about this he dragged Jake in saying “17 is close enough to 18”

-Christine and Jenna makes them all matching shirts when they go on these trips because they can’t lose anyone

-Jake wears shorts on these trips and anytime he sits on something he instantly gets up and yells “fuck!! Hot!!” He never learns his lesson

-one time Jeremy joked around about feeding this one sea gull that was staring at him to see if others would come, then rich said “do it. Trust me, they’ll come” not only did an entire flock come for that fry, Chloe claims she saw one kill another and one seagull followed them back to the car.

-Chloe and Brooke ever 10s of driving around: “that’s a nice house”

- so they like to stay the weekend in a motel for these trips. Once at about 11 at night Michael and Jeremy snuck out of the motel and tried to walks two miles to find a McDonald’s that they KNEW they saw. Then they walked down a suddenly ghetto street and saw someone throw a fire cracker while the others in the group huddled around the cracker. The boyfs instantly went back to the motel.

-ok so I think this was in Atlantic City but there’s this frEAKING coffin you can sit in? And it feels like rats and snakes are crawling over you? They dared Rich to do it, and have videos of him reacting on the camera feed. Rich didn’t come back the same man.

-they love going to Riply’s! It’s such a cool place, if only Rich would stop sticking his nose in every statues finger.

-Christine is the one to stop and read ever exhibit, but the others just look at the big cool stuff and keep walking. Let the girl read dang it.

-they have so many pictures of them with weird stuff in Riplys

-there’s this trippy tunnel at the end and Jake fell in the middle of it and got so dizzy he had to physically be dragged out

-Christine saw a cat under the boardwalk and started screaming and taking pictures while adoring said cat

-Christine also buys all the damn boat and shell nicknacks in the mall…Christine please…your money.

-they all have a big picture of them sitting in front of the giant wild woods sign but they were facing the sun so they’re all squinting

-they had to physically throw Jeremy into the ocean. It’s so cold. Why.

-michael sits in the sand and watches them all from afar, he doesn’t mind, at least they’re having fun.

-Brooke Christine and Jenna love writing and drawing in the wet sand

- Rich and Jake force chicken fights on everyone.

- watch the tram car please. Watch the tram car please. Watch the tram car please. WATCH THE TRAM CAR-

-they make this the biggest damn joke.

- “GOD JAKE WATCH THE FUCKING TRAM CAR”

-“NO!! CHLOE!! THE TRAM CAR, YOURE SO YOUNG!”

-Christine unironically bought this little toy of the tram car that does indeed come with the famous phrase.

-there’s this ONE damn ice cream store I can’t remember the name of, Mr freezy? Mr frosty? Mr tasty? Whatever it’s good and it has this little jingle that REELS you in every time I swear you hear that song and You’re entranced. The gang has wasted so much money just from hearing that song.

- whenever they go to Atlantic City they write down all the crap they can’t do because they aren’t old enough, they plan on doing them all as a bucket list type thing once they’re ready.

-at Atlantic City they have a ton of small arcades that have??? Coin operated vid games? I’m talking the old shit here guys , like one quarter per game. Jeremy and Michael get so happy when they see jump man and other retro games, they had to be left behind

- “SEAGULL!!” *everyone ducks over their food*

- they usually end it off by riding the ferris wheel at night when it’s lit up, and super pretty. Then they head on home all decked out and ready to sleep for a year.

- I FORGOT TO MENTION that the bathrooms have to be paid for usually. Like I think it was 50 cents to a dollar. So jake keeps asking why the don't just carry a bottle around to save a buck
