Adam Ruzek from Chicago P.D. just told Kim Burgess that he’s “just some backup plan that sleeps on your couch” and wow WOW the Buddiefication of every single show that I watch now - it’s truly amazing. Like,, the Will?? Buck’s insecurities about the people who love him?? The COUCH THEORY? Buddie roommates era being prophecized since forever ago by the fandom?? Let me tell you something right now: if Evan Buckley ever mirrors Adam’s words at Eddie Diaz in 9-1-1, I will simply cease to exist. I will be a shadow of my former self. I will sit on my bedroom floor and I will cry for what’s happened.

Losing Jay Halstead is a shock, but if the writers pull an Alex Karev and have him ride off into the sunset with Erin somewhere off screen, I won’t be THAT mad about it.

How Do I Do This?
Tumblr media
Fandom: Chicago PD/One Chicago
Pairing: Jay Halstead x Female!Reader; Kelly Severide x Platonic!Reader; Stella Kidd x Platonic!Reader
Warning/s: Mentions of Divorce, Anxiety and Alcohol Consumption
Request: No
Word Count: 979
A/N: This is based off of the song, How do I do This? by Kelsea Ballerini. You don’t need to listen to the song to get this by any means but I recommend you do! It’s a song that’s been on my mind for a while and I just love Kelsea’s music as a whole! It got a little away from me so apologies for that! I’m also still working on requests and some more chapters of my Jay Halstead fic so please be patient with me.
Enjoy!

Are you free Saturday? I know a spot
Those two texts come in rapid succession as you finish cleaning the store up. You’d usually try to avoid checking your phone so often in front of your manager, but by this time you were usually the only one left.
What did you have in mind?
You erase the message in-between organizing the new book shipment.
Saturday? That’s a little too close for me.
You erase that message while balancing the books for that day.
By the time you lock up the store and head home, you had thought up a couple million ways to respond before erasing them. Putting your key in the lock and you finally respond with a simple Yes.
Your next thought was right before you slid into bed for the night. Where the hell is your dress?
Specifically, your little black one that showed off all of your curves. The one that was probably lonely from being unused for so many years.
Having split from your husband over a year ago and trying to start fresh back in Chicago, you were worrying yourself into a spiral. You hadn’t been on a date since you were 22 and you were feeling out of place, getting back into the dating scene at 29.
You and your ex had grown apart from the moment your marriage started. You had done everything you could to keep everything together. You—being the one who made more money—had bought a big house. One that had room for you two to grow a family and have a backyard for a dog. It felt right at the time, maybe it would be enough so the walls didn’t seem like they were closing in.
You and your ex had been fine. But that’s all you were…fine. You finally convinced him to do therapy with you and, unfortunately, the final straw for you was when you realized that he loved you more at 23, then at 27.
You had filed for divorce not long after that. He claimed he hadn’t seen it coming, and fought you for the house. You gave into it, wanting him to just sign the papers and be done with it. In the end, when you signed your lease back in your home city of Chicago you finally checked the box “divorced.”
It had been quite the change, getting used to being back in the city. You contacted one of your oldest friends, Kelly Severide, to hang out and catch up.
It was at one of those meet ups that you met Kelly’s girlfriend, Stella Kidd, and the two of you hit it off instantly.
Now a year later, Stella and Kelly were getting ready to get married, and you voiced your thoughts to them about dating again. Stella said that she had a friend who was your type.
You had no idea what that meant, but after a few failed attempts at signing up for one of those awful dating apps, you gave Stella permission for her to give her friend your number.
The day after the first two texts were sent, he texted you again saying: Great! I’ll pick you up at 7.
You remembered at 22 being a little more cautious about a man picking you up for a date, but you trusted Kelly and Stella so you tried trusting this guy too.
It was hard, everything you’ve ever known about dating, relationships, and love had been ruined with the breakdown of your marriage. Now you wished it wasn’t affecting your thoughts this long after.
So is it any wonder that it’s 6:52 on Saturday and you’re trying to reassure yourself by saying you got this during your last looks in the mirror.
“You’ll be fine,” Kelly was saying over the speakerphone as you contemplated taking a shot to calm your nerves, “Do you think we don’t have your best interest at heart?”
“Kelly,” you say plainly, “It’s been years since I’ve been on a date. I’m gonna look so stupid stumbling over myself and what if he brings up my marriage? You told him about that right? How do I fucking do this? Is it wrong if I take a shot of something?”
“Stella,” you hear Kelly call from his end, obviously feeling like he needed backup, “she’s freaking out.”
“Yes I am.” You almost growl in confirmation, “I blame you both for this. What was I thinking?”
“Relax, girl,” Stella’s voice says over the line in a reassuring tone, “I got you. Look, I’ve known Jay for a while okay, and I’m sure you’ll charm the socks off of him.”
“Oh god,” you say, slapping a hand to your forehead almost dramatically, “I know he’s too good to be true. What have you done, Stella.”
“Breathe, Y/N,” Kelly says, his voice clear and unyielding.
There was a knock on the door. You jump slightly, looking up at the clock on the stove. 7:00 on the dot.
You curse, telling Kelly and Stella that he was there. They told you to have fun and they’ll call you later for details before immediately hanging up on you.
Cursing your friends once more, you open the door, and your breath lapses. You were going to kill Stella for understating his looks by saying he was “good-looking”.
He was much more than good-looking. He was gorgeous. His dark hair was cut evenly. His eyes were a mix of blue and green and freckles littered across his features. He was dressed for a date, his outfit lining the structures of his body. You feel slightly better about choosing your black dress for this, you may even want to wake up tomorrow with it on a floor that isn’t yours.
I’m ready, you tell yourself in your head.
And for the first time since this whole thing started, you believe it.

Its not a fanfic, but I was watching the 4 episode of the 4 season of Chicago pd...
There's this interrogation moment and the thing that gets In my head is the way Hank Voight said Baby, its soo sexy and warm that I can't stop blushing over the ideia of how will sound in a romantic or sexual moment...not to mention the bright smile in his face...
Just a random thought on this Rainy sunday..
I don't know if you want to check the episode soo you can understand what I write
Hank Voight x Fem!Reader Blurb
Thank you so much for the request! I hope you like this!
Hank pushed open the door to his house, sighing as he pulled his keys from the lock and set them in the dish nearby. He shut the door behind him, finding relief from the cold Chicago winters. Shrugging off his coat, he hung it on the nearby coat rack, along with his scarf. Moving a bit further into the house, he set his badge next to his keys, keeping his service weapon on his hip, just in case. He wouldn't leave anything to chance with his gun, as always. Then, he kicked off his shoes and pushed them aside.
Truthfully, it had been a hard day. They hadn't been able to track down a pedophile they'd been hunting. Typically, that meant Hank practically lived in his office, but it had been weeks and the trail had gone cold. He hated the cases he couldn't solve, and he knew his team was feeling the same way. Morale was low, so he forced everyone home for the night, including himself. He told them to rest, although he didn't plan on resting much himself. He walked into his dining room and to the liquor he had out on display, pouring himself a hefty glass of bourbon. Then, he sank down into a chair at his dining room table, settling in and pulling out his phone.
No new texts or calls.
He hummed and set the phone on the table, sitting in silence as he sipped the bourbon. He stared at the phone, contemplating what he should do. He knew if he went to bed, he would simply lie awake, so it wasn't something he wanted to do. He sat at the table, sipping the oaky sweet liquid until it was gone. Then, he got up and refilled his glass once more.
When he moved back to the table, he sat down and looked at his phone again, sipping once more before picking up the phone. He scrolled through his contacts until he got to the name he was looking for. He didn't call often, but when he did, he meant it. He needed it.
He pressed the 'call' button, then waited for the sweet voice on the other end to answer.
"Sugar, how are you?" your voice rang from the other end.
Hank hummed, giving a small, half-hearted smile. "Baby... I would be better if you came over tonight."
"Sure, I'll be over in a little while."
-
When you arrived, you knocked on the door. It was a soft knock, allowing him to hear without you drawing outside attention to his house. You were his dirty little secret. Even though he only called you once every few months, you were always happy to spend the night with him. Since his wife had died, he sometimes just needed a woman to take care of him.
Hank opened the door after a short moment, allowing you to step inside before closing it. He helped you take your coat off, revealing a blouse with jeans that fit you just right. You kicked off your shoes and set them neatly beside his, then stood again to look at him. You smiled softly, kissing his cheek as he pulled you into an embrace. "Hey, baby..."
You smiled. "Hi, sugar. I'm glad you called." You'd always greeted him like this. You didn't know much about Hank Voight outside of his street representation. You knew he was a cop and you'd seen him around the city once or twice. You also knew that he knew everything about you, and when he needed a favor, you'd be inclined to help him. You'd taken to calling him 'sugar' because he was always so sweet with you, sweeter than he was with anyone else you'd seen him interact with. You always expressed how happy you were that he called, considering you also knew he liked to drink when he didn't have someone beside him.
"I'm glad you came, baby." He called you baby. Of course Hank knew your real name, and you knew his, but the two of you always called each other by these pseudonyms. It was simply just a thing you did. You didn't mind. The way the word 'baby' rolled off his tongue, in his deep voice, it made you shudder. You loved the way he spoke to you and the way he held you.
When he finally let you pull back, he didn't let you go. You could tell he was already two or three drinks in, although he held himself together pretty well. He was a lot softer when he was drinking like this, trying to make the memories of the day go away. He held you softly by the waist, humming as he looked over you.
"How have you been, sugar?" You moved your hand up to his face, stroking your thumb over the apple of his cheek. Hank shrugged and leaned into your touch. He didn't answer, but you could tell he wanted to talk about it. You pushed closer to him, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. He returned your kiss by holding you closer, tilting his head to pull you in deeper, your lips moving in sync. After a blissful moment, the two of you pulled away, looking at one another. He pressed his forehead to yours, sighing softly.
"Pedophile case," he mumbled. "Couldn't catch him."
"Aw, sugar," you whispered, wrapping your hand around to the nape of his neck, stroking at the hair there softly. "I'm sorry... Those cases are always hard..."
Hank sighed softly, closing his eyes as he leaned into your every touch. "We tried for weeks... I've barely slept. We just... We couldn't get to him. He slipped through our fingers with every victim." He sighed shakily, and you could tell he was on the verge of crying.
Your heart ached for the man who was in so much pain. Losing his wife, his son, his best friend, and so many others took a toll on him. Again, he didn't call you often, but when he did, you always knew you had to come. He was dealing with too much pain, and by the time he called you, he was desperate. You let out a soft breath, kissing him again softly, then pulling back to lead him over to the nearby couch. You sat him down, straddling his lap, holding his face in your hands. He hadn't turned on many lights, so the darkness engulfed the two of you as you leaned down, kissing his lips with a sweet, soft embrace.
As he sat with you, he pulled you even closer. He didn't want to cry, but it was coming out. He pulled away, sniffling softly, his eyes wet. You pressed your forehead to his. "It's okay to cry, sugar... It's always okay to cry." He let out a soft sob, holding you tighter by your waist and back, pressing closer to you, as close as possible. "I've got you, I'm not leaving, sugar. I'm right here."
He nodded as he moved to press his head into your shoulder and neck, still crying softly. “These weeks have been so tough… I just… wanted to save them…”
“I know, sugar, I know…”
“I wanted to take them home to their families!” He sobbed, clinging to you for life, maybe a bit too hard. You knew you would come back with some bruises tomorrow, but you didn’t truly care. It had happened before, and people teased you about getting some rough sex, but you never gave in. You never told them what actually happened.
You winced silently, but clung to him as tightly as you could as well, knowing he wanted reciprocation. When you pressed into him tighter, he let go of you a bit, probably realizing how hard he was holding you.
After a few hours, Hank calmed down to a sleep, and you moved to lay him down, laying on top of him for a while. Then, you pushed yourself up when you were sure he was asleep, grabbing a blanket and casting it over his body. You leaned down and gave him a kiss, then grabbed yourself something to eat. It was nearly 4AM now, so you made sure everything was set, including his alarm for 6:45am. You locked his door and left out the back, hoping he would call you again soon, knowing he needed it.

What are your favorite pd episodes? Use your gifs to describe them ☺️
Hi! Answering this properly would take me forever. So let me just say basically every Jay episode is my favourite. Episodes like....
Forty-Caliber Bread Crumb (the one with Jay’s night job friend Terry)
Care Under Fire (the one with Luis Vega)
Rabbit Hole (the one with Camila Vega)
Trigger (the one with the mosque)
Endings (part 3 of the crossover where Jay’s father is...)
The One Next to Me (the one with Elliot Knox)
New Guard (the one where Jay trains a new recruit)
False Positive (the one where Jay puts the wrong man in jail)
Absolution / Mercy (the 2 part follow-up to the one where Jay put the wrong man in jail..... ALTHOUGH, we should have gotten more than 3 minutes of Jay in Mercy.... I’m still bitter about that)
Then there are the ones that aren’t totally Jay episodes but are good overall and had some great Jay or Upstead moments. Episodes like...
Ghosts (the one with Booth from Hailey’s past)
Good Men (the one where a firefighter stole a key)
A Way Out (the one with the end scene that’s 2 scenes in one and don’t ask them about filming it ok)
In the Dark (the one where Hailey can’t sleep and Jay punches someone)
Tender Age (the one where Hailey doesn’t take the NYC job... oh and Kim finds Makayla.... which....that part of it is actually great too)
Unforgiven (literally it’s just that first scene that has a hold on me... you know which one if you’re still reading this)
Signs of Violence (the one where Hailey has to take her car to the shop on her day off ok)
There.... are probably definitely more that I’ve missed. But you get the idea. Thanks for asking!

Hey!
Culd you write an imagine where "the reader" is a witness in the case and is dating Jay. When they find out, he tries to convince her to testify but she is scared?
Ps: The team don't know they're dating and they only find out because Jay says she's his girlfriend
Tumblr media
she’s not testifying- jay halstead x reader
overview: when jay gets back, from speaking to a CI he notices his girlfriends car outside the district. rushing inside it becomes a battle of finding another way once jay finds out you’re tied up in a case.
trigger warning: all things chicago pd, guns, gangs i hate this so much lmao
again i have made the mistake of reading the request wrong, it has a tad mix up in the beginning with jay being scared then it switches to the reader i’m so sorry 😭
chicago pd masterlist
**
jay made his way back to the district after retrieving some cctv footage from a shop that had cameras facing intelligence’s most recent crime scene. a high profile gang shooting, no witnesses had come forward that jay knew of so getting that footage was essential in the case. after paying off the shop owner who originally refused to give the footage to jay he finally let up.
jay hoped this case wouldn’t take too long so he could make it to his date, with you his precious girlfriend that he’d been keeping a secret from the team. which in fact he’d been doing pretty well at considering all of his friends were detectives and love poking around everyone’s business. but the likelihood of him making it home to get ready to go on the date we’re slim considering the circumstances of this case, he’d already sent you a few texts but he received no response which was out of character for you since you had today off work.
pulling into the district, he turned of his car getting out the old style cd footage from the crime scene in his head as he walked through the back entrance to the district and made his way up the stairs to the bullpen where his team were stood around the evidence board. walking towards the board he heard kevin say something about a witness.
“we have a witness now? someone came forward?” jay asked looking at kev and handing the cd to mouse to try and clear up the video to get the perps on facial recognition.
“yeah, y/n y/l/n” jays heart dropped at kevin’s words, his hands became clammy as he processed what his colleague had just said, turning on his heal jay rushed to the interrogation room opening the door his colleague following him obviously seeing the look of concern on his face.
“y/n get up. you’re going home. now! get up!” jay didn’t mean to come across so rude while talking to the woman he loves but these cases the things he’d seen happen to the witnesses who testify there’s no way he would let that happen to you.
“jay why? what’s going on?” you asked confused getting up from the chair the nice woman had previously told you to sit before they could take your statement, jays heart was pumping out his chest as he thought about the possibility of gang members hunting you down for testifying.
“jay! what’s going on?!” voight ordered jay to tell him what was going on while the rest of intelligence stood by the door listening in to their conversation, you were beyond confused you couldn’t understand why jay was so angry for you trying to do the right thing.
“she’s my girlfriend! there’s no way she testifying against the latin kings, y/n come here” jay countered and all of his colleagues looked at him in shock at the fact he had a girlfriend and the fact she was the key witness in a latin kings case. you walked over to jay embarrassed by his outburst and concerned not knowing why it was such a big deal.
“you owe me 20 bucks” kevin whispered into adams ear upon finding out jay had a girlfriend, kev knew jay was acting happier then normal and noticed him smiling down at his phone. adam looked at kevin and rolled his eyes as he lost the bet before turning his attention back to the issue.
“she’s our eye witness” adam said stepping in to the conversation only pissing jay off more, jay looked at you before looking back to his sergeant.
“you know what happens to witnesses that testify against gangs.” was all jay said and voight nodded, yet you wanted to help. surely no one would go after a chicago police officers girlfriend.
“mouse can’t get anything from that footage” erin spoke walking over to the group and all eyes again landed on jay, he huffed from frustration and lead you to the break room and sitting you on the small couch there, you could tell he was agitated it wasn’t hard to tell.
“you stay here until we close this case okay baby? i’m going to sort this out” you nodded and he bent down pressing a soft kiss to your head before heading out. his reaction to seeing you in the interrogation room scared you, why would he act like that? why would he make you sit in this room until he solved the case.
you wanted to help, but the longer you sat alone in that room gave you more time to think about the words jay used. what he said to voight… you’d never met his team before, you knew all the cases intelligence had were strictly confidential even high profile. the longer you sat alone the more fear took over, you tried to have a good moral compass you wanted to help but remembering what happens to people who testify against gang members made your chest tighten from anxiety.
every second that past you were battling what to do in your head, you didn’t want to risk being killed by gang members, you wanted a family you wanted to get married to jay and after seeing his reaction that scared you. and when he finally returned to the break room your anxieties had convinced you not to testify.
“babe?” you heard jays voice looking over to see him enter the room, waking over to you he sat on the couch next to you and sighed taking one of your hands in his.
“i was hoping the footage i got would be enough but it’s not.. i spoke to voight about you testifying and he thinks it’s a good idea we’ll try our best to keep everything confidential. you can stay with me while the trials going on and until it blows over we’ll have a patrol unit with you at all times even when you’re with me just to insure your safety.” jay explained and anxiety caused your chest to tighten, you were scared all of those precautions.. would they even work?
“i’m scared” you looked up at jay worry in your eyes as he put an arm around you and pulled you closer to him in an attempt to bring you some comfort as jay contemplated what to say next.
“i know y/n. but you’ll be with me, i’ll keep you safe i can try and make sure it’s burgess and roman assigned to protect you. i will do everything in my power to keep you safe, but this case is high profile we can’t leave it unsolved.. voights going to speak to the state’s attorneys office and see what he can do for keeping you anonymous..” you nodded listening to your boyfriends words, he wasn’t happy about having you testify but he knew he would do anything to keep you safe.
“promise you’ll stay with me?” you asked trying to keep your anxiety under control as you looked up at jay, he nodded with a hand on your thigh giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“i promise you.” his voice was softer then normal filled with empathy as he again pulled you into his chest attempting to relieve your stress and reassure himself that everything would be okay. jay had never broken a promise not to you, so you believed him, everything would be okay as long as he was by your side.
