My bullshit summary of the Interdarshan Championship Part 1 (spoilers obv)
Nilou: Yay! I am one of the two hosts for the competition, which fits in with my character and I am naturally good at being personable! I wonder who I’ll be paired up with? Maybe Kaveh because he’s the featured 4-star or Dehya because everyone is in love with her AND that would symbolize the fact that the rainforest part of Sumeru is becoming more inclusive! There’s my partner, and it’s...oh.
Al-Haitham: Listen this is literally my last duty before they’re finally letting me step down they said that if I agreed to do this they would let me go back to being the scribe please I am literally begging you to just let this happen I will pay you my share if you just let me chill out.
Nilou: Oh...ok! I’ll provide the commentary and you’ll provide the akademiya-ish side of things....great...
Nilou, to the side: Can somebody please get another reporter holy shit.
---------------------------------
Dehya and Candace: We are lesbians and we are on a date.
Everyone: Yay! Will you be relevant?
Dehya and Candace: Not particularly but we will manage to become a highlight regardless.
Everyone: Good enough for me!
-------------------------
Announcer lady: Introducing the representatives~
Tighnari - We are fairly certain he is actively committing academic crimes but the General Mahamatra refuses to do anything about it + everyone likes him
Kaveh - The featured 4-star babygirl who is trauma dumping and is going through a really rough patch in his life. Instead of sending him to therapy or providing him with other assistance, we sent him to the same competition which has killed people before including maybe his dad. There is no way this can backfire, especially when weird ghosts are showing up.
Layla - The closest thing we have to a normal human being, and she isn’t even human
Faruzan - Girly at this point just hire a PR rep if you want students this badly, this is getting embarrassing
Cyno - We put a TCG card into the mix because we know it’s his special interest and we needed to give him a reason to show up
LilBiotch - His name is Hat Guy now because none of you can behave
Anyways, what was that about weird ghosts? I don’t care and neither should you! This won’t lead anywhere bad, don’t worry. Go catch a speedy butterfly. We have totally leveled the playing field by creating a challenge that directly involves biological and technological creations, this gives nobody a distinct advantage we promise.
------------------------------------
Tighnari: Wow it appears that I may have a distinct advantage. Anyways, look at this cool method for catching butterflies. I’ll give y’all a free lecture so that my new VA can show off his chops.
Everyone: Wow we love you Tighnari and new Tighnari VA. We will sign up for your seminar that is technically not allowed to occur and you DEFINITELY should not be promoting it at an event sanctioned by the akademiya, but it’s ok.
------------------------------------------
Layla: oh no! i am lost! oh no! i will go chase the butterfly!
Dehya and Candace: We are on a date!
Layla: i have chased the butterfly onto dehya now let me catch it
Dehya with a butterfly on her hair: *Becomes even prettier*
Me: AH FUCK SORRY LAYLA YOU CAN’T TAKE IT FROM HER PLEASE
Dehya: Oh, here you go! Anyways, people are acting suspicious. I say this as though we’ve ever seen a Sumeru where people weren’t CONSTANTLY acting suspicious.
Layla: ok. i will probably be irrelevant to that plot line, but i appreciate the knowledge regardless. thank you dehya and candace for showing up.
--------------------------------------------------
Dori: HEYA SOME SHADY SHIT IS GOING DOWN
Me: What no way oh darn /s
Dori: For the low, low price of hearing about shit you don’t care about, I will give you the information!
Me: What’s the reward?
Dori: Primogems probably.
Me: *Sigh* You are so lucky your VA is as cool and good as they are.
------------------------------------------------
Kaveh and Faruzan: What do you mean there can’t be two second-place winners?
Al-Haitham: WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN?! GOD WHY ARE YOU ALL SO (enters old bickering couple mode with Kaveh)
Nilou: Hahaha, this is fine :-) I was totally given a fair position :-) I will go get the lots :-) Both me and Al-Haitham can be relevant and I am not being neglected in favor of him during an event where I am the featured 5-star for part of it :-) I am super glad I did this :-)
-----------------------------------------------
Announcer Lady: Wow, it seems that two of the people who won were the person focused on biology and the person focused on technology (though he basically gave up his points even after Faruzan offered them because...wait why did he do that). It seems that our competition was actually less balanced than we thought.
Me: Yeah no shit
Announcer Lady: So our next competition will be held in the desert!
Me, looking at poor Tighnari who is gonna be going through it + Cyno and Faruzan who have both spent a good amount of time in the desert: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
---------------------------------------------------
Like 8 NPCs: OH NO THERE ARE THINGS HAPPENING ABOUT *insert dude’s name here*
Me: I literally do not care. I forget the guy’s name and I don’t even wanna look it up. I will take your rewards, though. Baizhu is right around the corner.

Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET: A Christmas for the Ages, starring Natasha Bure, Anna Ferguson, Kate Craven and Cheryl Ladd — Prompted by their youngest granddaughter (Bure), four generations celebrate family and what Christmas was like in the '40s, '60s, '90s, and present day.
Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. ET: Christmas on Windmill Way, starring Christa Taylor Brown and Chad Michael Murray — To save her family's legacy windmill, a woman (Taylor Brown) must remind her ex-boyfriend (Michael Murray) of the best of their hometown.
Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET: The Jinglebell Jubilee, starring Erin Agostino and Marshall Williams — A city manager (Williams) recruits the help of a childhood friend (Agostino) in setting right his town's Christmas Charity event, while she sets to work setting him up with her close friend.
Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET: Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, starring Sarah Fisher and Simon Arblaster — Two rival realtors (Fisher and Arblaster) are forced to work together to sell one special house before Christmas.
Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET: Peppermints & Postcards, starring Ella Cannon and Christopher Russell — When a Christmas letter concerning her love life goes viral, one mom discovers that romance might be right at her door.
Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. ET: Designing Christmas with You, starring Susie Abromeit and Liam McIntyre — With her career on the line, a decorator (Abromeit) must work with an unexpected partner (McIntyre) to showcase a house for an upcoming Christmas gala.
Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. ET: 12 Games of Christmas, starring Johnny Ramey and Felisha Cooper — A group of old friends and neighbors are transported into a Christmas-themed board game during a Christmas party.
Dec. 23 at 8 p.m. ET: A Royal Christmas Holiday, starring Brittany Underwood and Jonathan Stoddard — In search of her big break, a reporter (Underwood) arranges a Christmas interview with a European Prince (Stoddard) visiting the States. Will the reporter’s big story become her love story?

Isabella!! For the character ask
Bless your heart, I love you, thank you.
Tumblr media
Favorite Thing About Them: Isabella is such an adorable bean and such a potent badass. Every time I see her in an episode, even for a moment, the enjoyment just increases. I guess you could say that I appreciate that she’s...a girl. She’s not a tomboy, not a girly-girl, not some kinda stereotype even though the show makes you think that at first, she’s just a girl. A girl who likes selling cupcakes, singing songs, being cute, all the stuff girls are stereotypically known for to the point of pink being her iconic color - and then you see her doing stuff like making a manly announcement about a truck rally, taking on Buford, being incredibly competitive and loving extreme sports, earning insane, non-conventional patches, FIGHTING ROBOTS, she’s a flipping beast. And she does it as HERSELF - there’s no one telling Isabella she shouldn’t like pink or should conform to one line of thinking. Heck, her whole shtick is just having a crush on a boy - and even though fans may complain about that, and even if the universe seems against Isabella at times, her friends never show disdain toward her feelings, it’s never implied that Isabella is WRONG for doing or liking things. She’s just...being her. She’s a girl - and a girl can like dolls and they can like bb guns. Heck, Isabella’s the character who made me realize how stupid labels really are, and that I should just focus on being me instead of trying to avoid being a stereotype.
I can also very much relate TO her crush on Phineas - I’ve felt that same fear whenever I had a crush on a boy. Heck, my favorite Isabella centered episode, “Operation Crumb Cake” really nails down all the aspects of Isabella that I ESPECIALLY adore. Isabella’s loyalty to Phineas is just...so wholesome and loving. More on that later.
Least Favorite Thing About Them: Isabella is a feminist icon - probably more-so than even Candace, Vanessa, or any other female in the show. As a result, though it’s not TOO often, she’s usually the mouthpiece for certain propaganda regarding the whole “girls are better than boys” fallacy that seems to be littered in children’s programming, Phineas and Ferb sadly being no exception. On one hand, it can be done relatively well - I liked her interactions with Buford in “Got Game?”, as she never once implied that girls were necessarily better than boys, rather that girls COULD beat boys.
On the other hand, you have Mission Marvel, where Isabella complains that there are NO superheroines in the group, even though she’s never had a problem being the only female in the group in the past. It greatly weakens her character whenever she plays a propaganda mouthpiece - this goes without saying for any character, but a character like Isabella especially.
Favorite Line: “Oh, Phineas, yes! I've been right here in front of you all along just waiting for you to...oh...wait. You were talking about the puppet, weren’t you?”
(Much like Phineas, Isabella has A LOT of good lines that are underappreciated - “Do we have chopped liver? What do you think this place is? Chopped li-- oh, that doesn’t really work.”, “See what I mean? One woman’s capris pants is another’s...what’d I miss?”, and ya’ll know how much I love her “IT’S EXTREME!” tangents.)
brOTP: Isabella’s got a good list of brOTPs, namely with the Fireside Girls, Candace, Ferb, and of course Phineas - since I’m just gonna be gushing about Phinabella in the next part, I’m just gonna talk about the obvious:
I like how The Fireside Girls are in sync, but they’re also not perfect. They’re a clique of sorts, but not necessarily in a bad way. They still make mistakes, like pick on Ginger, and they seem to follow Isabella a little too easily, but their bond is, regardless, part of what makes them all so likable. I really wish we had more Fireside Girls episodes, because those girls deserved more development, and Isabella ROCKS that uniform.
Isabella and Candace’s relationship isn’t as forward as the others, but I really like their interactions - Isabella’s always willing to give Candace advice even if it wasn’t asked for, and Candace was so earnest in comforting Isabella when Pinky went missing and was even supportive of Isabella’s crush on Phineas even though she personally didn’t get the attraction. These two are gonna be rad sister inlaws.
Then there’s Ferb, which was a very interesting development. Isabella went from simply acknowledging him, to outright trying to push him and the others out of the picture, to appreciating him, and finally to really truly getting to know how he thinks. Ferb is an awesome wingman, and a supportive friend - he’s also a total troll, and I love him all the same.
Edit: Adding this here, I also really love Isabella’s friendship/rivalry with Doofenshmirtz, like, they were kinda hostile at first but then she became like? So supportive? She gave him a patch and everything, and I think that’s like, so important, because not many people believe in Doofenshmirtz and assume the worst, and then here’s Isabella who’s gotten to know him and believes he can accomplish his goal enough to give him a patch revolving around it - it’s so wonderful, and if we ever get more content I want them to interact again because any positive reinforcement for Doof is fantastic.
OTP: Phinabella. That’s a given, let’s all be real here. Isabella’s love for Phineas has always been a personal source of joy for me, and I hope to be as devoted as her when I find that special someone. Phineas and Isabella are just...so very in sync, and have such a great bond with each other. Sure, it’s hilarious whenever Isabella’s shot down, but what REALLY makes this ship is just their interactions. Whenever they dance together, whenever Phineas involves Isabella with a project or asks her what they should do, the puns they shared in “De Plane! De Plane!”, how protective they are of each other, how much they care for their feelings - it’s just so darn sweet.
It actually is all the stronger given how oblivious Phineas is, because that let’s you know that those gestures are ALL the more sincere. Phineas just so very deeply cares for Isabella, and Isabella cares very deeply for Phineas. I wish “Act Your Age” showcased this more instead of tearing them a part for a while, because I have a hard time believing they’d lose touch even if Isabella were to try to move on from Phineas - because their friendship isn’t just BECAUSE of Isabella’s crush, and their chemistry isn’t because of romance itself, it’s from the fact that they’re deeply connected in the most pure ways imaginable. I just...love them so much.
I like shipping Isabella with other characters, mostly OCs and...well...Buford oddly enough, but I can’t really see any of those ships being truly endgame. It’s always Phinabella in my heart, it always has to be.
nOTP: Let’s see, uh...Doofbella, Isabella/Candace, Isabella x any of the Fireside Girls, Isabella x Perry...I’d put Ferbella here, but I’m actually okay with that ship. I don’t CARE for it, but I don’t outright despise it either.
Random Headcanon: Based on the events of “La Candace-Cabra”, pulling Isabella’s dress inside out reveals that it doubles as a goat costume; she claims that all the dresses of this particular style and brand do this, and that she only has this dress because “there was a sale at the Googleplex mall”. She ultimately despises the fact her dresses have this feature, but appreciates how soft the goat-costume fur makes the outfit.
Unpopular Opinion: I kinda sorta wish that there was an episode where Buford won against Isabella? Or maybe, just put Isabella in a position where she didn’t necessarily SUCCEED against an opponent. I’d find that kinda conflict interesting.
Song I Associate With Them: “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
Favorite Picture of Them:
Tumblr media
To be fair there’s like...too many pictures to count, but if I had to choose, it’d be this one...oh, and uh, this one too (I know it’s a gif, but c’mon, this is amazing):
Tumblr media
Wow...I talked about Isabella A LOT. Maybe she really IS my favorite...
Tumblr media
...nope. Still a three-way draw.

1. Under the Persimmon Tree by Suzanne Fisher Staples
Intertwined portraits of courage and hope in Afghanistan and Pakistan Najmah, a young Afghan girl whose name means "star," suddenly finds herself alone when her father and older brother are conscripted by the Taliban and her mother and newborn brother are killed in an air raid. An American woman, Elaine, whose Islamic name is Nusrat, is also on her own. She waits out the war in Peshawar, Pakistan, teaching refugee children under the persimmon tree in her garden while her Afghan doctor husband runs a clinic in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan.
Najmah's father had always assured her that the stars would take care of her, just as Nusrat's husband had promised that they would tell Nusrat where he was and that he was safe. As the two look to the skies for answers, their fates entwine. Najmah, seeking refuge and hoping to find her father and brother, begins the perilous journey through the mountains to cross the border into Pakistan. And Nusrat's persimmon-tree school awaits Najmah's arrival. Together, they both seek their way home.
Known for her award-winning fiction set in South Asia, Suzanne Fisher Staples revisits that part of the world in this beautifully written, heartrending novel. (goodreads.com)
2. Words in the Dust by Trent Reedy
Winner of the Christopher Medal and a "heart-wrenching" Al Roker's Book Club selection on the Today Show.
Zulaikha hopes. She hopes for peace, now that the Taliban have been driven from Afghanistan; a good relationship with her hard stepmother; and one day even to go to school, or to have her cleft palate fixed. Zulaikha knows all will be provided for her--"Inshallah," God willing. Then she meets Meena, who offers to teach her the Afghan poetry she taught her late mother. And the Americans come to her village, promising not just new opportunities and dangers, but surgery to fix her face. These changes could mean a whole new life for Zulaikha--but can she dare to hope they'll come true? (Amazon.com)
3. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan's last thirty years - from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to post-Taliban rebuilding - that puts the violence, fear, hope, and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives - the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness - are inextricable from the history playing out around them.
Propelled by the same storytelling instinct that made The Kite Runner a beloved classic, A Thousand Splendid Suns is at once a remarkable chronicle of three decades of Afghan history and a deeply moving account of family and friendship. It is a striking, heart-wrenching novel of an unforgiving time, an unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love - a stunning accomplishment. (goodreads.com)
4. Swallows of Kabul by Yasmina Khadra
Since the ascendancy of the Taliban the lives of Mosheen and his beautiful wife, Zunaira, have been gradually destroyed. Mosheen's dream of becoming a diplomat has been shattered and Zunaira can no longer even appear on the streets of Kabul unveiled. Atiq is a jailer who guards those who have been condemned to death; the darkness of prison and the wretchedness of his job have seeped into his soul. Atiq's wife, Musarrat, is suffering from an illness no doctor can cure. Yet, the lives of these four people are about to become inexplicably intertwined, through death and imprisonment to passion and extraordinary self-sacrifice.
The Swallows of Kabul is an astounding and elegiac novel of four people struggling to hold on to their humanity in a place where pleasure is a deadly sin and death has become routine. (goodreads.com)
5. The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi
Afghan-American Nadia Hashimi's literary debut novel is a searing tale of powerlessness, fate, and the freedom to control one's own fate that combines the cultural flavor and emotional resonance of the works of Khaled Hosseini, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Lisa See.
In Kabul, 2007, with a drug-addicted father and no brothers, Rahima and her sisters can only sporadically attend school, and can rarely leave the house. Their only hope lies in the ancient custom of bacha posh, which allows young Rahima to dress and be treated as a boy until she is of marriageable age. As a son, she can attend school, go to the market, and chaperone her older sisters.
But Rahima is not the first in her family to adopt this unusual custom. A century earlier, her great-great grandmother, Shekiba, left orphaned by an epidemic, saved herself and built a new life the same way.
Crisscrossing in time, The Pearl the Broke Its Shell interweaves the tales of these two women separated by a century who share similar destinies. But what will happen once Rahima is of marriageable age? Will Shekiba always live as a man? And if Rahima cannot adapt to life as a bride, how will she survive? (Amazon.com)
6. Shooting Kabul By N.H. Senzai
In the summer of 2001, twelve-year-old Fadi's parents make the difficult decision to illegally leave Afghanistan and move the family to the United States. When their underground transport arrives at the rendezvous point, chaos ensues, and Fadi is left dragging his younger sister Mariam through the crush of people. But Mariam accidentally lets go of his hand and becomes lost in the crowd, just as Fadi is snatched up into the truck. With Taliban soldiers closing in, the truck speeds away, leaving Mariam behind.
Adjusting to life in the United States isn't easy for Fadi's family, and as the events of September 11th unfold the prospects of locating Mariam in a war torn Afghanistan seem slim. When a photography competition with a grand prize trip to India is announced, Fadi sees his chance to return to Afghanistan and find his sister. But can one photo really bring Mariam home?
Based in part on Ms. Senzai's husband's own experience fleeing his home in Soviet-controlled Afghanistan in the 1970's, Shooting Kabul is a powerful story of hope, love, and perseverance. (goodreads.org)
7. Green on Blue: A Novel by Elliot Ackerman
Aziz and his older brother Ali are coming of age in a village amid the pine forests and endless mountains of eastern Afghanistan. They are poor, but inside their mud-walled home, the family has stability, love, and routine. One day a convoy of armed men arrives in their village and their world crumbles. The boys survive and make their way to a small city, where they gradually begin to piece together their lives. But when US forces invade the country, militants strike back. A bomb explodes in the market, and Ali is brutally injured.
To save his brother, Aziz must join the Special Lashkar, a US-funded militia. As he rises through the ranks, Aziz becomes mired in the dark underpinnings of his country’s war, witnessing clashes between rival Afghan groups—what US soldiers call “green on green” attacks—and those on US forces by Afghan soldiers, violence known as “green on blue.” Trapped in a conflict both savage and contrived, Aziz struggles to understand his place. Will he embrace the brutality of war or leave it behind, and risk placing his brother—and a young woman he has come to love—in jeopardy?
Green on Blue has broken new ground in the literature of our most recent wars, accomplishing an astonishing feat of empathy and imagination. Writing from the Afghan perspective, “Elliot Ackerman has done something brave as a writer and even braver as a soldier: He has touched, for real, the culture and soul of his enemy” (The New York Times Book Review). 8. Caravans by James A. Michener
First published in 1963, James A. Michener’s gripping chronicle of the social and political landscape of Afghanistan is more relevant now than ever. Combining fact with riveting adventure and intrigue, Michener follows a military man tasked, in the years after World War II, with a dangerous assignment: finding and returning a young American woman living in Afghanistan to her distraught family after she suddenly and mysteriously disappears. A timeless tale of love and emotional drama set against the backdrop of one of the most important countries in the world today, Caravans captures the tension of the postwar period, the sweep of Afghanistan’s remarkable history, and the inescapable allure of the past.  9. A Cup of Friendship: A Novel by Deborah Rodriguez
From the author of the “bighearted . . . inspiring” (Vogue) memoir Kabul Beauty School comes to a fiction debut as compelling as real life: the story of a remarkable coffee shop in the heart of Afghanistan, and the men and women who meet there - thrown together by circumstance, bonded by secrets, and united in an extraordinary friendship.
After hard luck and some bad choices, Sunny has finally found a place to call home - it just happens to be in the middle of a war zone. The thirty-eight-year-old American’s pride and joy is the Kabul Coffee House, where she brings hospitality to the expatriates, misfits, missionaries, and mercenaries who stroll through its doors. She’s especially grateful that the busy days allow her to forget Tommy, the love of her life, who left her in pursuit of money and adventure.
Working alongside Sunny is the maternal Halajan, who vividly recalls the days before the Taliban and now must hide a modern romance from her ultratraditional son - who, unbeknownst to her, is facing his own religious doubts. Into the café come to Isabel, a British journalist on the trail of a risky story; Jack, who left his family back home in Michigan to earn “danger pay” as a consultant; and Candace, a wealthy and well-connected American whose desire to help threatens to cloud her judgment.
When Yazmina, a young Afghan from a remote village, is kidnapped and left on a city street pregnant and alone, Sunny welcomes her into the café and gives her home - but Yazmina hides a secret that could put all their lives in jeopardy. As this group of men and women discover that there’s more to one another than meets the eye, they’ll form an unlikely friendship that will change not only their own lives but the lives of an entire country.
Brimming with Deborah Rodriguez’s remarkable gift for depicting the nuances of life in Kabul, and filled with vibrant characters that readers will truly care about, A Cup of Friendship is the best kind of fiction - full of heart yet smart and thought-provoking. (Amazon.com)
 10. In the Sea There Are Crocodiles By Fabio Geda
What would you do if, when you were ten, you were left to fend for yourself, and, in order to survive, you had to undertake a harrowing journey all the way from Afghanistan to Italy?
In early 2002, Enaiatollah Akbari’s village fell prey to the Taliban. His mother, fearing for his life, led him across the border. So began Enaiat’s remarkable and often publishing five-year ordeal—trekking across bitterly cold mountains, riding the suffocating false bottom of a truck, steering an inflatable raft in violent waters—through Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, and Greece, before he eventually sought political asylum in Italy, all before he turned fifteen years old.
Here Fabio Geda delivers the moving true story of Enaiat’s extraordinary will to survive and of the accidental brotherhood he found with the boys he met along the way. In the Sea There Are Crocodiles brilliantly captures Enaiat’s engaging voice and humor, in what is a truly epic story of hope and survival, for readers of all ages. (barnesandnoble.com)

Top 10 TV Episodes of 2019
10. Marvel’s Runaways- Season 3, Episode 10- “Cheat the Gallows”
I’ll be the first to admit that Runaways is not a perfect show. I didn’t like season 1 all that much, mostly because Pride’s motivations and ultimate goals were too poorly defined for my tastes. I’m not expecting a big expositional villain monologue, but I at least need to understand what the villains are trying to accomplish and why. Otherwise, it’s hard to get emotionally invested. Having said that, season 2 was a marked improvement, and I wound up falling in love with this scrappy bunch of kids anyway. Which makes it all the more disappointing that the season that proved Runaways could be something great if it tried ended up being its last. I enjoyed season 3 a lot. The writing was better, the performances stepped up to match, and as annoyed as I am that the evil alien family trying to kill everyone plot was dropped unceremoniously without a satisfying explanation partway through the season, the battle with Morgan le Fey was filled with enough danger and tension to make up for it. But rather than choose that climactic battle as my entry for this list, I went with the messy, emotionally fraught aftermath. “Cheat the Gallows” could have been a simple, somewhat patriarchal story about a man going back in time to rescue the woman he loves, but it ended up being about a family clawing its way back together after wrestling with a shared trauma. Which, come to think of it, is pretty much exactly how the show started! Talk about coming full circle. The episode also ended up being a bit of a meditation on time itself, as the older versions of the Runaways contemplate the fact that Gert’s death led them down the paths that made them who they are. Once that’s erased, so are they. This realization gives the Runaways, mostly Nico, a chance to think about what they would have done differently, leading to a powerful scene in which Nico talks with her past self and pleads with her not to make the same mistakes she did. I bet we’ve all wished we could do that at one point or another. I also like that the episode ends with the sense that, with Gert saved, the Runaways might just be okay. Even if the note left for Alex by his murderous older self adds an ominous note to the whole thing.
9. So You Think You Can Dance- Season 16, Epsiode 15- “Live Finale Winner Announced”
So You Think You Can Dance continues to be the best reality competition show no one’s really talking about. Cat Deely has been robbed of her Emmy for best host too many times, but I digress. This show is always the highlight of my summer, and season 16 was no exception. Another season of amazing choreography, amazing performances, and a truly deserving winner that I can’t really be mad about, even if I was rooting for other dancers just as much. It was another really fun season, and I can’t wait for season 17! There’s a reason Fox keeps renewing this show despite the ratings, is all I’m saying.
8. Emergence- Season 1, Episode 9- “Where You Belong”
It’s true that the first half of Emergence’s freshman season was a bit uneven. The writing isn’t quite as compelling as it could be, and it does rely on some sci-fi cliches. But I’m a sucker for a good found family story, so I stuck it out. And I’m certainly glad I did, because the mid-season finale was pretty great! An excellent sense of stakes, and enough tension to keep you on the edge of your seat without skimping on the sweeter moments. It culminates in one of the most brilliant twists I’ve seen on TV since The Good Place! I’m curious to see what the rest of the season will bring.
7. Veronica Mars- Season 4, Episode 3- “Keep Calm and Party On”
I’m willing to bet that this will be the most controversial pick on the list, for several reasons. No, season 4 of Veronica Mars was not as good as its first, and I have problems with the way Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell handled the fan response to the ending. And that’s before we get to the episode itself. Many long-time fans of the series took serious issue with the extended party scene in this episode, given that Veronica was drugged and raped at a party in high school. There’s also her mother’s own history of alcoholism to consider. But while I absolutely sympathize with those concerns, Veronica’s decision to let loose and party still feels understandable to me. Given everything that’s been going on with the bombing case, she's searching for some kind of release. And if there was a year where the desire to just forget about the world for a while, past traumas be damned, felt all too real, it was 2019. And that’s why “Keep Calm and Party On” makes the list.
6. Single Parents- Season 1, Episode 23- “Ketchup”
Will and Angie are clearly the Jess and Nick of Single Parents, which is fine. But part of me is sort of hoping they don’t get together, because their friendship is pretty great. In this episode, Will takes Angie to a terrible fast food restaurant to confront Graham’s dad about abandoning her while she was pregnant. Will ends up using a bunch of food metaphors to explain to Derek what an amazing mother and person Angie is, and it’s fantastic! Add that to Douglas and Poppy realizing their feelings for each other, and you’ve got an episode that’s as completely hilarious as it is completely sweet. If you haven’t watched this show, check it out! It’s pretty delightful.
5. Stumptown- Season 1, Episode 3- “Rip City Dicks”
Stumptown was the best new show this fall, hands down. The first half of its first season didn’t end quite as strongly as it started, but it gave us some fantastic episodes along the way. “Rip City Dicks” is one of them. Dex is hoping to apprentice under veteran PI Artie Banks in order to earn her license, but gets a cold, hard dose of reality when he sells out their client and her child to make a quick buck. Dex does learn a valuable lesson from it, though. Exactly what kind of private investigator she doesn’t want to be. The episode ends with an amazing, very feminist monologue from Dex promising Candace that she’ll get her kid back. It’s a fantastic performance from Cobie Smulders, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season! If you’re not watching Stumptown, you’re missing out.
4. This Is Us- Season 4, Episode 7- “The Dinner and the Date”
America’s favorite cry-worthy family drama gave us plenty of great episodes this year, including a much-anticipated origin story for Beth Pearson. Out of all the possible options, I ended up choosing “The Dinner and the Date” as my entry for this list. On one hand, you’ve got a sweet story of young love set against the backdrop of Philadelphia. On the other hand, you’ve got a young Black kid trying to form his own identity in a way his white adoptive parents just can’t understand, no matter how hard they may try. It’s a beautiful episode, and I look forward to seeing what 2020 brings for the Pearson family.
3. Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger- Season 2, Episode 10- “Level Up”
Honestly, I could have chosen any episode form Cloak & Dagger’s stellar second season for this list. There’s the near-perfect three episode run of “B-Sides,” “Vikingtown Sound,” and “Two Player.” There’s also the dark, thought-provoking Emma Lahana showcase that is “Shadow Selves.” But I ended up choosing the finale, because it felt like such a perfect culmination of everything the show had been doing up to that point. Tandy and Ty take on every obstacle Andre throws at them with an abundance of grace and an unshakable faith in each other. The choice to have them literally fight each other’s demons was inspired! But the most powerful moment comes when Tandy gets the chance to confront her late father after everything she’s learned about him since his death. She tells him in no uncertain terms that she, and only she, gets to decide how big a part of her he is. She says that the only thing she can do in the face of adversity is level up. If there’s a lesson to take into 2020, it’s this. If you think you aren’t strong enough to face what the world sends your way, level up. Turn your dagger of light into a sword of light. Stare oppression in the face and say, with your whole being, “Not today.” Disney and Marvel made a big mistake in cancelling Cloak & Dagger. Huge.
2. Good Trouble- Season 1, Episode 8- “Byte Club”
I hope anyone who thought Good Trouble wouldn’t be as powerful as The Fosters is really embarrassed after these first 20 episodes, and I mean that in the best possible way. Good Trouble is everything a great spin-off should be. It keeps the spirit, heart, and progressive mission of the original show, while also feeling like its own distinct entity. It introduces an amazing cast of new characters to love, without forgetting to check in on the old ones every once in a while. “Byte Club” has to be the best offering the show’s given us so far. Facing rampant gender and race discrimination at work, Mariana rallies the women of Speckulate to come up with a set of tips to help them assert themselves in the workplace. The advice they come up with is solid, and actually really useful in real life. But it’s made even more powerful when Mariana points out that women in professional spaces shouldn’t have to jump through all these ridiculous hoops just to get recognized for having an idea! And that’s not the only powerful feminist moment of the episode. Callie discovers that the reason Rebecca ended up as a clerk for Judge Wilson is because her previous judge sexually harassed her, and her powerful family refused to do anything about it other than get her out of there. I’ll admit that Callie had no right to insert herself into that situation and guilt Rebecca into coming forward in the following episode, but it’s still an amazing scene featuring excellent performances from Maia Mitchell and Molly McCook. I’m so excited for more Good Trouble in the new year!
1. The Good Place- Season 3, Episode 13- “Pandemonium”
The final season of The Good Place has been fantastic so far, and several of the most recent episodes almost made this list. But at the end of the day, “Pandemonium” is the kind of episode that makes me want to make television. To make something that will touch other people the way this episode touched me. I could go on and on about the beautiful love story between Eleanor and Chidi. But instead, I want to focus on the final scene, in which a distraught Eleanor calls Janet into her office and demands the answer to, well, everything. What does it all mean? Because if there’s no greater meaning, then the universe is just made of pain, and Eleanor can’t accept that. Janet’s response is what really makes the scene sing, so I’ll quote it here. “If there were an answer I could give you to how the universe works, it wouldn’t be special. It would just be machinery fulfilling its cosmic design. It would just be a big, dumb food processor. But since nothing seems to make sense, when you find something or someone that does, it’s euphoria.” To which Eleanor replies that all she can do is “embrace the pandemonium” and “find happiness in the unique insanity of being here, now.” And then she steels herself, opens the door, and welcomes her soulmate who has no idea who she is into the afterlife. This is the same philosophical bent that made me adore Angel so much, and it works just as well here. This episode aired all the way back in January, and these sentiments got me through awful headline after awful headline in 2019. Catch up on The Good Place if you haven’t already. It will be going off the air soon, and our lives will be all the worse for it.

On 6th September 2019, NBA 2K20 was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo switch.
Development and Release
The announcement of this game was made in March 2019. And the game was released on 6th September 2019. The good thing is that the game covers were made public on 1st of July 2019.
According to news, Xbox One X and Xbox One S are going to get special editions of the game. Aside from this, for smartphone game lovers, there will also be a limited version of this game. It will support both iOS and Android.
The free demo of the game featured the player mode called My Career, which was out on 21st August. With the demo, players could create up to 6 MyPlayers.
Gameplay
As said earlier, this game is a simulation of the basketball game. Just like the previous games, this game provides a depiction of the National Basketball Association (NBA). It offers a lot of improvements as well.
You can play NBA games with customized players or real-life players. Plus, you will have to follow the same rules set by NBA games. You can choose from many game modes and customize many settings.
Aside from the teams and players of the current season, the previous games included NBA teams like Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls.
The great thing about the NBA 2K series is that it has all of the 12 teams. Besides, it features Candace Parker as well.
MyCareer is the staple of this amazing series, and comes back with a lot of game modes. Actually, MyCareer allows players to create customized basketball players. Also, the mode has an amazing storyline that you can reveal as you continue toe game. Moreover, the creation tools are also overhauled.
During the game development, the focus of the developers was on the MyLeague and MyGM modes that give you a task to manage the basketball operations for your team. Actually, MyGM gives more importance to realism. On the other hand, MyLeague allows you to benefit from customization options.
Unlike the earlier games, MyGM mode introduces a lot of outsene-type interactions. The idea was to add a storyline to the game.
Again, NBA 2K20 has the MyTeam mode that aims to have the ultimate team and maintain a virtual collection of trading card. Players get together and play in a tournament-style competition in many different formats.
For a team, assets are acquired via a number of means, such as the auction house and random card packs. In this mode, Virtual Currency is also used quite a bit.
So, this was a brief review of NBA 2K20. Hopefully, this review will help you get a better idea of the game.

Movie Night (Tyrus)
A03: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16248323
"That movie was not even scary" The smile that TJ has on his face seems to start to annoy everyone. Well, everyone except for Cyrus, of course.
"Of course it was!" Andi says, it seems that she’s remembering a few scenes that could justify her own fear and the fact that she will have nightmares during a very long time.
"It was kinda scary, it's not the worst I've seen," It seems that Jonah, as always, will try to remain impartial in this situation. "It was actually fun." And Cyrus thinks that fun is not the perfect word to describe that movie. Horrible, disturbing, one of the scariest movies he ever saw, maybe that last one.
When he looks at Buffy, he knows she’s thinking something similar. She still looks scared, but she doesn’t want to show it. Even though she and TJ get along much better now, for some reason that Cyrus can’t understand, they keep competing like crazy. And it is obvious that her friend will try not to show her fear to anyone, even if it is obvious in her face and in her sudden silence.
"It scared me." That's what Cyrus finally dares to comment on. The light of the television bothers them in the face. Jonah gets up to turn on the light and returns to his seat quickly, next to Andi.
"I know, Underdog," TJ says with a less malicious smile, a smile that would make him melt, that makes him forget the movie and that they are accompanied. "I had to hug you all the way through the movie." And although television is now on the Netflix main page, everything announces that Friday's movies are about to end; TJ still has his arm around Cyrus' shoulders. And although Cyrus does not want to imagine a love story with his new best friend, it's inevitable. Especially considering that everyone in Jonah's house looks at them as if they knew it, as if they wanted to tell them something, but none dares to say a thing.
"So," Jonah breaks the spell they were in with his voice "should we watch something to erase that movie from our memories?"
"Please" It's the first thing Buffy says after they finished watching the movie. Now, fear is replaced by shame and as much as TJ wants to say something to annoy her, he doesn’t say anything. The smell of Cyrus' hair, the heat he feels under his arm and the security that comes with being like that, stopped him.
"Phineas and Ferb?" Jonah asks when he finally finds something not scary on TV.
“Why not?” Says TJ with a smile, and everything, at least for Cyrus, feels perfect.
………
"I can’t believe I forgot how good this show is" comments TJ at the moment the credits of the last chapter begin; Jonah turns off the television right away.
"Neither can I,” The calmness in Buffy's face and voice were even more noticeable than her fear, something truly incredible. "I love Candace" Cyrus thinks it's funny, because Buffy and Candace can be equally stubborn and competitive. But he does not dare to say it.
"I prefer Isabella." Cyrus is not surprised when Andi says that.
"I prefer the two gay kids." Now, Cyrus is surprised.
"What?" Everyone asks almost at the same time, but Cyrus's voice sounds a little louder. And, although he knows that he is in fact gay, he has not dared to say it out loud. Andi and Buffy are still the only people who know, he’s still afraid to tell Jonah and he has not even considered the idea of telling TJ, he is afraid to risk losing his new best friend and the boy he likes. Although the latter discovered it recently, if he is honest with himself.
But now, with that comment, he feels that things may not be so lost. And maybe, at least TJ will still be his friend if he decides to tell him.
"What are you talking about TJ?" Andi is the first one who dares to ask; everyone could see how TJ enjoyed seeing their faces full of surprise.
"We all know that Baljeet and Buford are gay."
"They're not gay." Buffy says with her typical gesture of disbelief and for some reason, that makes Cyrus feel hurt.
"Of course they are!" TJ does not erase the smile on his face and Cyrus thinks that TJ wanted to discuss this since they started watching the show. "Were you watching the same show as me?"
"Did you see the same show as us?" Andi sounds so incredulous at the boy's words. Jonah and Cyrus look at each other for no more than ten seconds, mentally, they promise that none will participate in the discussion.
"It's pretty obvious they like each other!" At that moment TJ stopped hugging him and a feeling of slight insecurity pricked him on the back of his neck, he tried to hide it with a smile as he watched TJ settled down better on the sofa, as if he was preparing himself for discussion.
"Well, no. They are frenemies." Buffy comments as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"They literally sang that they had a hole in their hearts because they were not together!" This time, Andi and Buffy seem to have an answer and by the expression on their face, they seem to be rethinking the song. And, if Cyrus is sincere, he also thought that song seemed to be between two boys in love with a broken heart. "And I know that the show presents them as frenemies but ..."
"But?" Jonah asks, he seems curious about TJ's ideas.
"I mean, they are children. And sometimes, when you're young, you do not really know how to handle your feelings."
"Really TJ? Are you going to use the he bothers you because he likes you?” Now Buffy sounds annoyed.
"It's not that!" TJ sounds somewhat annoyed, too. "Is that when ..." He thinks about it for a few seconds and looks at Cyrus all that time. "You know what? It does not even matter. You wouldn’t even understand."
“We wouldn’t even understand? Look, TJ…” Starts Buffy, but someone interrupts her.
"I thought your favorite characters were Baljeet and Buford because they remind you of Cyrus and yourself" Those words come from Jonah's mouth and Cyrus can feel that blush appear on his body, he turns his head to look at the boy next to him. TJ has his eyes closed and a smile that tries to disappear. But it doesn’t,
"Yeah, well, maybe that also has something to do with it."
"TJ, are you saying that ...?" Cyrus feels that his voice can’t get out of his throat correctly, he can’t even finish the question.
"That I like you? And that it has always been difficult for me to talk about my feelings?” TJ makes a pause for a long time, maybe thinking about his next words, maybe waiting for Cyrus to say something, but he's still paralyzed. He cannot believe that this is really happening. "That if I had met you some years ago I would kinda bully you just to be able to talk to you? That if we were apart, we would sing about a hole in our heart? Maybe."
"Wow," Andi says, between being moved and surprised by all the information that TJ has just said in such a short time.
"Ok, girls, I think we need to give them some time alone." Jonah stands up and guides the girls to the door.
"But this is your house, Jonah," Buffy says.
"Also I want to know how this ends!" Andi looks at Cyrus and gives him one of his best smiles. He knows that Buffy is going to get really angry when she finds out that Andi knew for a long time that he liked TJ.
"C’mon," Jonah smiles, softened by the emotion of his girlfriend. And the three leave the house.
"You know? I didn’t expect that that would be the way I told you."
"What? That you like guys or that you like me?" Cyrus still felt the strange sensation in the back of his neck and a new feeling in his stomach, one that he did not expect to feel even in a very distant future.
"Well, none of those, actually," TJ seems to be quite calm. "I figured I was going to tell you that I like guys at The Spoon. So, if you reacted badly, I could escape fast. "
"Me? React badly?"
"Well, in my mind that can’t understand math that sounded a lot more than logical." They laugh and a weight they did not know they had on their shoulders, in their whole body, is released. At the cost of exposed feelings they have for each other.
"And ... How were you going to tell me you like me?"
"Well," TJ scratches the back of his neck, now he seems a little nervous and that smile that Cyrus knows so much just proves it. "I was thinking of buying a lot of chocolate muffins and write with them something like I like you Cy. Date me, It would be near the swings ..."
"Wow" They hear Andi not far away and Jonah and Buffy telling her to calm down.
"Cy? Why not Underdog?"
"Those would be too many muffins to buy, my budget would only allow me Cy" And the they laugh again, as if that suddenly happened in reality. As if one afternoon of summer TJ invites him out almost at nightfall and when he got to the swings there were the muffins and TJ with a smile just for him.
"So…"
"So..." Cyrus can feel a new security atmosphere and can see in TJ's face that he also feels it. "Would you like to go on a date with me?"
"Yes." He answers, maybe too fast. But it seems that neither of them really cares.
"Tomorrow we can walk around the city and then eat at The Spoon." TJ moves closer to their faces and Cyrus thinks he knows what's going to happen, but he does not want to make a mistake.
"Are you going to…?"
"Kiss you? Only if you want."
"Of course I do." He answers, again way too fast for his liking, but seeing TJ's equally anxious face makes him feel a little better.
And then, it happens.
And it does not look like anything he ever imagined or felt. It is much, much better. When he opens his eyes and sees TJ's smile, he knows he thinks the same. And for a fleeting moment, everything is more than perfect.
(So, this is my first fic that's not from Tyrus Week/Month Yay! I’m kind of working in a Tyrus long-fic, but I’m no really sure about anything right know lol)
Anyway , thanks for reading :D

Which holiday line-up has you most excited for the 2019 season?
Now that we're starting to get more details about what's coming to small screens this holiday season, can’t help wondering which network's Christmas offerings everyone is most excited about?
Tumblr media
Freeform has, so far, announced two original movies—Ghosting 📸 and Turkey Drop—as well as a Good Trouble series movie special, Christmas at the Coterie. They've also got a Wrap Battle reality competition series and, for first time, will also air classics Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman for the first time.
Tumblr media
Hallmark Channel announced 24 new original movies…so far, airing (almost) every Saturday and Sunday night, plus nightly during Thanksgiving week, with the first premiere 📸 October 26. This year is set to feature a lots of sequels, quite a bit of singing and, of course, Candace Cameron Bure.
Tumblr media
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is set to air 16 originals of its own this season, as part of its annual “Miracles of Christmas” event. Though it's sometimes hard to determine what makes a Hallmark movie a “Miracle,” rather than a “Countdown to Christmas” contender, theoretically movies here are more soulful, and infinitely more likely to tug on your heartstrings…or play on patriotism 📸 (cough Holiday for Heroes cough).
Tumblr media
Lifetime is going all out in 2019, offering a record-breaking 28 new movies, and taking the network 24/7 Christmas movie for the first time in “It's a Wonderful Lifetime” history, starting on October 25. This is the spot to find more diverse storytelling, Christmas movies sans snow and slightly more sass.
My fellow #ChristmasMovie fanatics voted in a Twitter poll, and the winner was 🥁 ...
Tumblr media
...Hallmark Channel, in a landslide. With a loyal online following, particularly on Twitter, Hallmarkies, as fans call themselves, overwhelming picked the channel’s 10th Anniversary “Countdown to Christmas” programming as their most anticipated for the season, followed by Lifetime’s expanded “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” 28-movie offering, with Hallmark Movies and Mysteries’ “Miracles of Christmas” and Freeform’s “25 Days of Christmas” both earning less than 10% of the vote.
Tumblr media
Though I couldn’t vote in my own Twitter poll, I'd likely pick Lifetime from this bunch, as I think they’ve out-Hallmarked Hallmark for each of the past two seasons after sitting Christmas completely in 2016. But my real answer is one I didn’t have room for in Twitter’s 4-option limit (chose Freeform because it was actual channel, as opposed to streaming service)…Netflix actually has the most things I’m most excited about this season, including the animated feature Klaus, the sure to be silly but also likely fun, Vanessa Hudgen’s The Knight Before Christmas, The Dolly Parton-produced and Christine Baranski-starring Christmas on the Square, Holidate, Let it Snow and the Dennis Quaid series, Merry Happy Whatever (pictured). All are extremely high on my list for the season’s most anticipated new offerings.
