“She’s my daughter too!” - Alex Morgan x reader

“That’s the problem, I don’t think Charlie has ever seen me play for my national team” You take a breath as you fight back tears and loosen you hand around your phone.

“You know I want her with me and the girls” You faintly hear the room door open and close due to being on the balcony. You turn around and see your roommate Steph and best friends Mackenzie (Macca), Caitlin and Alanna.

“She’s my daughter too! My name is on the birth certificate just as much as yours. Hell, she has my last name. I think you forget that sometimes she’s mine too”

Too angry to hear your wife, you hang up and sit on one of the plastic chairs. You don’t see it but your friends give each other a look and Steph decides to go out and comfort you. You breakdown in her arms and the rest come out for support.

“Why d-doesn’t she trust me w-with Charlie?” You ask your friends with bloodshot eyes.

“We aren’t sure what’s going on y/n/n but we all know one thing, you are an amazing mum. Nothing is going to change that” Alanna mentions, putting a hand on your knee.

Macca offers to join the four of your friends for a walk and maybe some ice-cream on the way back from the place downstairs. You respectfully decline and the girls leave, giving you a tight hug each. You decide to have a long, hot shower before cuddling up in bed for a quick nap before dinner.

On the other side of the globe, Charlie had woken up hearing your voice on the call. She then proceeded to start crying because she couldn’t see you in the room. Charlie looked everywhere and in all the drawers and cupboards she could open and still nothing. While this was happening, Alex slipped on one of your Matilda’s hoodies and moved to scoop Charlie into her arms.

“Smell like mama” Charlie mumbles into Alex’s neck.

“We can call her later if you want baby” Charlie’s eyes light up and a wide smile spreads across her face.

The pair get ready before going downstairs for breakfast with the team. Alex walks into the meal room with Charlie on her hip, scrunching the yellow, green and grey material tightly in her small hands. Kelley catches sight of the mixed matched outfit and is about to say something before Alex gives her a stern glare. Alex grabs her vegan breakfast and some pancakes for Charlie before sitting with Kelley, Sonnett, Lindsey and Kristie.

“Never. Charlie’s missing y/n and she stopped crying when she had this so” Alex shrugs.

“I think Sam was saying she hasn’t seen Charlie since she could just walk” Kristie mentions earning a slight nudge, as to tell her to shut up.

Alex begins to think how long ago that was and it was at least a year ago, if not more. Alex realises what she’s don’t and she feels sick to her stomach. She pulls Charlie off her lap before taking the hoodie off and giving it to her. Alex grabbed her phone and moved to the side of the room before making a call.

You finish dinner when you see your phone ring from beside your plate. The photo of you and Alex on the beach pops up and you know she’s FaceTiming you. You decide to ignore it for now and call Alex back later. After a quick talk from the manager, you were all allowed a free night. Steph informs you she’s having a movie night with Caitlin and a few others if you wanted to join. You decline as you have to call Alex back.

You eventually get back to your room and you flop on the bed. You press the FaceTime button and put your arm behind you, slightly flexing your tattoo sleeve and muscles.

“Hey ba- oh my god” You laugh and take a screenshot of Alex’s face.

“What’s up Al?”

“I’m sorry for everything. I don’t mean to keep Charlie with me all the time. I’m just so used to you being here with the Wave. I didn’t give it a second thought. I’m really sorry baby”

“Hmm, it might take a little more than that” Alex rolls her eyes and calls Charlie over. She flips the camera and Charlie races over to Alex, as fast as her little legs can take her. You see something in Charlie’s hands and notice it’s your Matildas hoodie.

“She wouldn’t stop crying until I wore it” Alex mentions.

You talk with Charlie and Alex for a few hours until Steph came back in the room. You all talk for a little while longer until you and Steph both yawned.

“Mama and Aunt Steffy go to sleep now?” You looked at the time and realised you all talked for the last 2 hours or so.

“I have to go bubs so I can be ready for my game tomorrow”

“Okay mama. You call before play?”

“Of course I will. Te amo mucho princesa” Alex smiles at the interaction out of cameras sight.

“Te amo Mamá. Bye Aunt Steffy! Love you”

“See you soon baby girl, I love you too” Steph gets up from you bed and mentions she’s having a shower.

“I love you baby. I’m going to make it up to you both when you get home” Alex promises.

“Can’t wait my love”

You end the call and look up at the ceiling with a smile on your face. When Steph comes out of the bathroom, you two wind down before eventually going to sleep.

You finish the Cup of Nations on a high. You not only win the entire cup but get Player of the Tournament and the golden boot after scoring 7 goals in 3 games. You pack your suitcase and put your trophies plus your winners medal safely between clothes. You go down to the lobby and see most of the team there as some as staying behind to see family. Since it’s late at night, the bus to the airport is quite and most people are exhausted from the last 10 days.

After check in, customs and security lines, you and Emily arrive at your gate with 10 minutes to spare. You put your bag in the overhead and get comfortable in the seat. You pull out your phone to send Alex a quick text.

A short 18 hours later, you land and feel more tired than before the plane ride. After leaving the plane and getting your suitcase from the carousel, you text Alex to see where she is since Emily already left with her girlfriend.

You follow Alex’s instruction and you see Charlie running towards you. You meet her half way and lift her up in the air before you give her the tightest hug. You don’t realise you’re crying until you feel someone wipe your tears from your cheeks. You open your eyes and see Alex looking at you with sad eyes and a pout sporting her lips.

“No cuddles for me?”

“There’s always cuddles for you my love” You move Charlie to your hip and kiss Alex softly before giving her a hug.

“Let’s get you home”

Alex takes your luggage from beside you and you carry Charlie out to the car. You buckle Charlie in when she immediately grabs your hand tightly.

“Sit with me Mama” You nod and move around to the other side to put your seatbelt on.

The whole journey home consists of you holding Charlie’s hands and you both falling asleep. Alex stops at a red light and asks you a questions and when she doesn’t get a response, she turns around and sees you two cuddled up together. She takes a quick photo before driving the rest of the way home. Alex parks the car in the garage and goes to unbuckle Charlie when you tighten your arm around Charlie protectively.

“Hey, babe it’s just me” Alex reassures you.

Alex gets your bag and starts going inside the house. You walk around to Charlie’s side and lift the toddler out of the car seat.

You walk into the house with a half asleep Charlie resting on your shoulder, when you feel your shirt getting wet. You calm Charlie down before asking what’s wrong.

Ok so this has been on my mind for a MINUTE. So here’s my school AU! Please ask questions and please add your headcannons too!! If you want more in depth AU headcannons I’d love to write them!

CREEPS SCHOOL AU

JEFF THE KILLER:

Football player and all the girls swoon over him for it. He’s not even the star player?? But hey I guess being a running back is pretty cool? (fuck quarterbacks!!)

Mans barely keeping his grades up

He’s only passing so he can stay on the football team

One of the “popular” guys since he’s just so well known by all the creeps. Everyone sits with him and the football team at lunch

JANE THE KILLER:

Varsity volleyball player and she’s GOOD. Like she’d get a full ride scholarship for college

Star player unlike Jeff

She’s also in Choir! A soprano of course. It’s more of a just for fun thing so she doesn’t take it too seriously but she definitely tries her best (please come to her concerts)

Straight A student. Don’t play with her.

NINA THE KILLER:

Cheerleader!! 100% a flyer. She cheers exclusively for Jeff too. Not quite the cheer captain but close in the ranks. One of the best at tumbling and gymnastics

Social butterfly and everyone knows her. She’s on hoco court for sure.

I feel like she’s always just a little short of the top. Socially, academically, athletically. She just seems to get overshadowed

Pretty decent student, she’s more interested in a social life than academics though.

KATE THE CHASER:

Cross country/ track. She’s set the most records in the school history. She can compete in anything but prefers long distance or sprints

Super humble about her wins and records, not a fan of the spotlight that her athleticism gets her

Pretty damn smart, but she’s quiet about it. People just know she sits in the back and does her work.

High A grades

CLOCKWORK:

Varsity basketball. Definitely a starter too. Combo Guard 100%. She gives me Caitlin Clark vibes?? (look her up she’s badass)

Probably also does track but just because the coaches knew she was tall and she could jump hurdles like no one’s business

On the side she spends a lot of her time in the art rooms since it’s quiet and she gets some alone time

Also a pretty good student, more on the B sides of grades though,

“TICCI” TOBY:

I feel like this kid is in everything for some reason?? But definitely varsity soccer as his main activity. He’s a goalkeeper mainly but he can swing to whatever position you need him to be. He’s probably in bowling with Ben too

But he’s 100% in band too. He plays trombone (the best instrument) he’s in concert band, marching band, and jazz band.

He’s pretty popular too just because he’s cute and pretty much an all rounder

Average student, doesn’t have much time or attention for homework so that’s where his grades fall

TIM/MASKY:

HUNK. This man is the star wrestler of the school. Probably in the 182lbs weight class. People are SCARED to wrestle this man.

Doesn’t talk much, just does his work and gets tf out. Honestly most people avoid him

Pretty good student too, high B’s to medium level A’s

He participates in the field portion of track and field. Loves that he gets to throw shit

BRIAN/HOODIE:

Baseball boy!! Those pants look damn good on him too. Usually a pitcher but sometimes a shortstop. Loves running so this shit is perfect for him. The girls LOOOOVE him. Like imagine Brian in the uniform with that goofy smile???

Also probably in yearbook (if he has time, he gives me lazy vibes)

Decent student too, probably high C’s and B’s

Honestly might dabble in bowling with Ben and Toby

EYELESS JACK:

No sports for him! If he was going to participate in any sports it would probably be swim team? Honestly not a sports guy though

But this man is in the honor society!! Like he’s SMART

Excellent student, like all 100%’s

Everyone comes to him for homework help, but of course he charges

BEN DROWNED:

Varsity bowling!! This man is a NERD and he’s damn good at bowling. Not quite a record breaker but definitely someone scouts look at

He started the team and reps it like no one’s business. He tries to get everyone to join.

He only gets good grades because he cheats

Also the leader of the gaming club!

SALLY:

She’s on the dance team 100%. Loves the outfits and looooves solo’s

But honestly she focuses more on 4H. She focuses on livestock and loves raising sheep. (Yes I know this is more of an out of school activity)

She’s probably in the garden club too! I feel like she just likes agriculture? Everyone gets along with her she’s just a sweetie

Great student! High A’s and she studies all the time

JUDGE ANGELS:

Either in marching band or color guard I can’t really decide. She either plays flute or trumpet! But if she’s in color guard she 100% has a solo/ feature moment in the show

She’s super shy but everyone seems to get along with her because she’s a sweetie #2

I also feel like all the guys try to get with her just because she’s so beautiful

Also a really good student! Studies all the time and probably has a study group

BLOODY PAINTER:

Another non sports guy! Doesn’t have anything against it but it’s just obviously not for him.

He’s the art club leader and takes it super seriously! He tries to get everyone’s art in papers, fairs, and exhibits.

Everyone thinks he’s kinda weird but they respect his dedication to art and others

Another really good student, he doesn’t have to study though

THE PUPPETEER:

School newspaper editor/writer. He knows everything about everyone and has no problem writing a dark column about them

No one talks to him at all, they don’t want him to write about them

He’s also a theater kid, idk he just gives me the vibes

Decent student, he’s just casual about it

JASON THE TOYMAKER:

Non sports guy pt. 197583.

He’s in the sewing club and absolutely loves it. Everyone thinks he’s gay for it though (Jeff teases the shit out of him)

He’s also a theater kid, more on the props side of it though

Also a high B’s student

ZERO:

She’s in ROTC and she makes it her personality

Tries to get Clockwork to join all the time and they’re besties

I feel like she’s kinda dumb so probably high D’s to low C’s

HOMICIDAL LIU:

This man plays golf and he’s super chill about it!

Wears his scarf out on the green lmao

Not popular at ALL and he likes it that way

I can’t wait to see the reactions to st5 based on who

a) saw the play

b) played the VR

c) did neither

d) did both

e) did both but to a painfully autistic degree (me)

They both humanize Henry differently, possibly featuring different “Henries” altogether based on allergies and ages and contradictory childhood experiences.

The VR 100% references TFS, so it’s not that they’re just wholly unaware of it, it’s probably more that Paul and Caitlin fed them details but not the whole plot/it was a Choice to not have the VR be fully cohesive with TFS. There is genuinely So Much packed into the game and I fear not many people realize that when they play it (some playthroughs have missed entire storylines 😭).

Either way…It’ll be fun to see how the version of Henry you know affects your reception of him in ST5!

role reversal AU with Barry and Iris? :)

So I've written a couple of these before - and I no doubt will again. [I Know (Do You?) and Hurry Up (To Slow Down)] I do enjoy a good role reversal for these two. :D

So in a role reversal specifically from Iris' point of view, I think she'd initially promise not to tell Barry when Joe asks, but quickly realize from Barry's interest in metahumans and the Flash that keeping him in the dark is pretty cruel. Instead of trying to gaslight him about it or talk him out of investigating, Iris would come clean. Forewarned is forearmed and Iris wants him to be safe about things.

Depending on how long it takes for Iris to tell him, Barry may or may not be upset about it. But if he's upset? He gets over it pretty fast. Iris has always been amazing and his hero and so he's so proud of her for being everyone's hero now.

Eobard is not thrilled. In retrospect he realizes that it isn't that surprising that Iris West had the right genes to become a speedster considering Wally West is destined to become a speedster. Or was destined. What does Eobard know. Maybe Linda Park will become a speedster. *he's waving hands wildly while Gideon wonders if she can get smoke to come out of his ears if she says yes*

since Iris was still in college getting her Masters degree at the time, there would be focus on her trying to maintain her GPA while juggling Flash duties and frustration with EoWells perhaps not respecting her class time, maybe her pointing out that she's not exactly getting paid for her Flash work inspires him to create an internship for her so that she does get paid and can't complain about that anymore.

Because, honestly, Iris doesn't have the Jitters job anymore. it's not her fault she couldn't work while in a coma but what are the odds a part time barista job would get held open for her that long?

There's so many ways things could play out relationship wise. I've done both the Westallen and Westhallen routes, but why not some Barriscowest? Or Snowestallen? Snowest & barrisco? Thallen and Newsvibe (is that what Iris/Cisco is called? that's what I'm going with) There are a lot of possibilities and I do enjoy so many different ships.

Iris and the pipeline... I don't know where she'd stand on that. I'd like to think she'd be against it and so that's the track I'd take writing another one of these AUs, because Iris is the voice of reason. But canon probably would have put her on the pro pipeline train if she hadn't been sidelined like she was. :/

I think Iris would probably try harder to talk things out with the metas. Not always a good idea, but she's much more likely to try to de-escalate a situation than Barry is. So she'd probably be able to talk Shawna down, but trying to empathize with Hartley would likely end with him taking advantage of her sympathy. Though she'd also be less sympathetic towards Snart since, unlike Barry, she doesn't really have the experiences Barry has that made him empathize with Len.

Iris would be tempted to go back in time to save Nora because she loves Barry and she wants him to have his mother. Whether or not she actually does it depends on how her conversation with Henry goes. He was not in favor of changing the timeline to save Nora even though he no doubt wanted her to have a chance to live, so he might be able to talk Iris out of it if he can articulate his feelings on the subject well enough.

a lot of this has focused on Iris, but I think Barry would settle well into back up. He'd probably still get a chance to be a battle couple with her similar to the incident with Tony in canon. Maybe the return of Becky Cooper turns out to be a bad thing when she turns out to be a powered stalker with a crush on Barry?

Barry's also got a pretty close friendship with Cisco and Caitlin already by the time Iris wakes up, which I think would factor into Iris ultimately deciding to tell him pretty quickly. Keeping the secret would not only be potentially putting Barry in danger but damaging his new friendships and Iris wouldn't want to do that to him.

So, I have a fun family game of D&D with my brother and my sibling-in-law and a couple pals that my brother DMs. I've talked about it before, Almenor D&D. Well, we just started a new campaign this last Wednesday! This one's gonna be tagged #Mistbound D&D, since it takes place not on the mainland of Almenor, but in the Mistbound Isles of the same world, set 100 years after our last campaign.

We've been promised a spooky fun time and I'm already really digging it, but I don't think I'll be keeping as many updates here about it, mainly because as the party notetaker, I'm in charge of the recap, and I've gotten permission this time around to share the recap document!

I go pretty thoroughly into detail trying to chronicle the session beats for posterity's sake, but we've also got a new player who wasn't in our last campaign, so everything's already being written for a fresh set of eyes where no context from the last huge 3 year campaign will be necessary. The Flash had a problem with story arcs after Season 1 didn’t they? Amnesiac Barry could’ve lasted a few episodes. By contrast Iris stuck in the Mirror-Verse was WAY TOO LONG. (Like there were obvious signs she was an imposter - she could cook, she suddenly knew foreign languages, and was more aggressive, etc and nobody either Barry or Joe realized that right away

YEP honestly s3 in general had this problem: the “ooh big bad Savitar” mystery was stretched out too long, throwing in metas of the week to pad the runtime, which got boring real fast…and the actual interesting stuff (Flashpoint, Savitar being a version of Barry, Barry losing his memory, Killer Frost*, Savitar & Iris) was shortchanged. And meanwhile, like you said, Iris is stuck in the Mirrorverse for WAYYY too long…and when her husband gets suspicious, her own father tells him it’s fine!! He doesn’t notice anything wrong!! And in the following season, when Iris is bouncing through time, yet again no one is concerned except in small moments here and there—Joe even plays D&D while his daughter is lost in time!!

*you may ask, “Lavi, wtf do you mean KF was shortchanged, she got the whole season too?” Well, anon, I say this because KF is incoherent as a character, and the problems start here!

Because…okay. There are two possibilities here. Either KF is Caitlin, or she’s someone else. The first was what they were going with in s3, the second was established later. So let’s ask ourselves:

If it’s the first one: why is she so willing to kill all her friends? Why doesn’t she care about them suddenly? Cisco included?

If it’s the second one: why is she allied with Savitar? He’s promising to get rid of her powers…aka get rid of her, to restore Caitlin!

Also, why didn’t Caitlin talk to…idk, Harry? Sure, he knew KF was Zoom’s lieutenant, but he spent all of s2 learning that the Team we’re not their E2 selves!! Cisco had a whole arc about it!!

Though ofc given that the whole Team also reacted poorly to her powers, acting like she’d suddenly turn evil…maybe Harry would too 💀 who knows (and the writers did not help this notion by legitimately making her turn evil for no reason)

Also…Savitar & Iris is self-explanatory. We’re told he cares about her, loves her desperately like Barry does, and yet he’s willing to kill her just to exist?? That doesn’t sound like Barry Allen ✋ he would jeopardize his own existence for her

(Savitar in general was boring pre-reveal, and I’ll die on that hill)

TL;DR: Yeah the Flash in general had a weird pacing problem where some arcs were too long, others were too short, and I’m convinced sometimes they just did not realize the magic they had when they had it (or, in the case of Savitar, until it was too late to do much with it).

The two of you head towards the elevator. When you arrive there, you hit the ground floor button.

Turning around, both of you look forward before looking at each other with smiles as the door closes.

i actually don’t think caitlin chucks up shots, like very rarely do they look like they’re not going in. she def doesn’t take the best shot at all times, but neither does any player. I think the efficiency difference is moreso 1) threes are harder than twos, and 2) defenses completely sell out on her in a way you can’t do to uconn so her shots are just by nature harder. but just my opinion!

geno def wouldn’t let anyone shoot from half court but he’s said he admires caitlin’s fearlessness and has given paige the green light so i think he’d be fine with more threes from her, even if not from caitlin range. she hasn’t shown to be a super consistent threat from three or driving to the basket, but that could def change (although driving is obv harder when you’re staying mindful of an injury)

that’s a good point that facilitating is different than just assisting!

and i could see paige declaring if they win the natty! would be fun to get her in Indiana the year after aliyah and just see them lift that team, like a repeat of the jewell/stewie years in seattle

i think the 2 v. 3 pt argument is really interesting because yes 3 pointers are harder to make but also consider that people are more hesitant to play harder d on the perimeter, like the most you’re really gonna get is a hand in your face, and we know caitlin can shoot that - she’s deadly with the step back obviously. i think the shots paige takes are cool in their own way because she weaves in and out of defenses within the perimeter and really creates that shot for herself. it’s especially impressive against teams with good bigs like stanford and sc had when she played them.

paige is really comfy from the mid range but id love to see her take more threes and really have a field day with that green light from geno.

this season/draft is just gonna be so good. like i don’t think we have processed the hype that’s surrounding wcbb rn and the absolutely insanity that is gonna surround this season im so so excited.

i'm planning on posting my thoughts on each chapter i read of FLIGHT OF ICARUS because I think it's generally worth talking about, I finished chapter...seven I believe but let me talk about the things before that I didn't. I understand some of ya'll hate this book. That's fine. Just as long as you don't make those that do like the book feel guilty or one inkling of bad about it, it's all good. That's honestly the only thing disheartening about seeing the hate on this book, because I for one had been jazzed about it and it was genuinely bumming me out seeing so much hate for it. So like, idk, be mindful of that? However I will be tagging my posts about it — 📖 — flight of icarus — in case ya'll wanna blacklist, giving your opportunity for that rn. Being as fair as I can about this whole thing. I've never seen such a reaction out of a book like this, it's kinda crazy. we all here for a good time, guys. at least I hope so. I'll also be putting these under a cut, hopefully that works with mobile folks, idk. ANYWAY. Gareth and Chrissy thoughts under the cut as well as everything i've read thus far.

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS AHEAD!

first thing's first! let's give a round of applause to caitlin schneiderhan, because she living all our dreams. not only a professional writer and part of the ST writing team, but she got the holy grail of being offered a chance to write about our boy. like pls, i love that. i really don't mind the first person ( which from what i gathered, the other books like Lucas on the Line and Runaway Max, Rebel Robin are done the same? correct if i'm wrong ) but mostly it gives me and readers a chance to really be in our boy's head, read his thoughts and hearing his lovely voice in my head.

And honestly.... and some folks will probably disagree... From what I read so far, and what got me excited the most about this book... the writing really does, to me at least, don't have to agree, it feels very Eddie to me. Right from the scenes of Gareth, Freshman Gareth with the floofy hair and chrome mouth, being upset that his character ( that he didn't even make ) became fish food and Eddie being like, "...then we just make another character" because that boy was so pissed that he got himself, in his mind, kicked out and Eddie being the one like, "...no? After the gutsy move you did, there's no way we're not going forward without you" and taking moments of his time to help him create another character? And the glee Gareth had over it? Come onnn.

and cutting to that, one of the excerpts that came out, creating that character and being patient, as any 18 year old would be, and guiding Gareth to get that spark for the game, in creating a character from scratch, and all in a risky move of basically breaking into an empty classroom that they could have been caught in, just added to it. the fact that this act, seeing Gareth so into it, lifted Eddie's mood after Al came back was....ahhhh.

AND THEN! THEN!

The line that killed me, when Eddie asked him why he wanted to be in Hellfire so bad since he never played D&D and Gareth's answer being, "...where else was I supposed to go?"

OH MY GOD.

THAT FUCKING KILLED ME!!!

The start of Eddie the shepherd, herding his little ship. are you KIDDING.

Which then led to the whole Tommy H, which, fuck this guy. His cronies, including JASON CARVER and Chrissy Cunnigham.

DEEP BREATH.

I do love the talk of Steve, well after the breakup with Tommy and even what, Sophmore?? Jason being like, "Harrington won't like this" BECAUSE JASON IS A BITCH.

But can we appreciate Chrissy just not being for this and tried to PRY TOMMY'S HAND FROM GARETH????

I remember someone made a post, i can't remember who you are! If you remember, let me know! That Chrissy wouldn't have been the cheerleader that would be okay with bullying, i mean, god, her own mother bullied her all her life, and like, to that person, THAT MAKES TOTAL SENSE and I feel it was backed up with this.

I'm not a HELLCHEER stan per say, but I will admit, the thought is cute and there was def potential in my eyes but also like... I don't have an actual ship in this show, just like... I could see it and leave it at that lmao. And I'm not bothered by the thought of Eddie having a crush on her. It's clear if he did, it wasn't so much on the rising "queen of hawkins high" but rather the girl at the middle school talent show that, when he said his dad wasn't there, instead of making him feel bad about, little chrissy just went, "Wow, I wish my mom wasn't here!"

LIKE???

And even said she'd cheer for him when he played, like come on. whatever we feel about chrissy, i stand she was not a horrible person, and if she lived, probably an amazing person to see.

Fuck you, Vecna.

I do love that even when Higgins rolled up, she was like, "THAT BITCH IS LYING!" when Tommy tried to make it like Eddie was the aggressor. Because --

TOMMY H IS A BITCH THAT SHOULD GET PUNCHED OUT, WHEN WILL I SEE THAT.

But anyway.

I covered not as much, but Higgins is a bitch. Most of these adults need a slap. I so felt for Eddie, constantly being marked by his last name, by his dad. This grown man calling this 18 year old a felon even though he's never been arrested. I mean???

but can we appreciate that nothing got under his skin as bad as when Higgins essentially was like, he's a rotten apple, infecting everyone around him. Like Gareth? Like the only reason he was targeted bc he was in Hellfire?? Under EDDIE'S association???

I wanna hug him.

Let's roll back though. Since we done the Gareth and Chrissy bits.

I hate him lmao. So the new thing that came to life was, Eddie didn't live in wayne's trailer all his life, but it seems was in a constant yo-yo kinda of living between the house and wayne's trailer, especially when he was younger and Al would take off. It would make sense, as he got older, being more insistent on staying home and Wayne doing the grocery shopping( of spaghetti-o's and microwave meals! oh, wayne ) every two weeks and keeping an eye on him.

Bless anyone, again, i can't remember WHO that fancasted skeet ulrich as Al because i can so see it

Also, Eddie saying he doesnt' have said Munson Magic? False, sir. You most definitely do. We've all fallen for it, hook, line and sinker.

also, I do love the complicated mess that is their relationship. The sight of his boots sending Eddie in a whirlwind, a near panic attack at having to see him again, but also even craving his attention. The fact that Al is inviting Eddie into one of his schemes has him conflicted because, "he never came for me, he could have asked his friends, but he came to me" like... my boy. Can someone hug him?? It's very realistic to have this complicated relationship, as those that do have those types of parental relationships could attest. I def could. ( neither of my parents were felons and doing schemes but def emotionally distant so :))) )

I craved for some wayne x eddie moments, and in part, i do, though with wayne it feels like he's def holding back. it seems to be of his nature, which I can buy, tho still offering Eddie a place in his trailer if he needs it. I feel like by the end of the book, this could change, i feel a def shakeup is gonna happen with Al and Eddie as he seemed dead set against his dad in s4. do not correct me if I'm wrong as I wanna find that out myself!

I love Ronnie.

I love that Caitlin gave Eddie a childhood bestfriend, though the angst of Ronnie having a chance out of Hawkins and Eddie feeling left behind but still happy for her. At least to her face. Another aspect that feels like him, not giving her shit about it, wanting the best.

I also loved the part where young eddie thinking she was his girlfriend and the disastrous first kiss that had him running away lmaoo like god. what a little goof. I love him.

another controversial take. I ACTUALLY LOVE THAT HE ISN'T A VIRGIN.

I don't mind Paige so far. She like us, wanting a piece of Eddie, I can't fault her for that. When I found out there was a romance plot, or, well, most likely not true romance, I didn't mind, because I def wanted to see how this boy handles someone that wants him. The part where she made him feel like a person, or rather, liking him for himself was.... ouch, my precious boy. he would be so flustered around us, i swear to god

I do love that we get bits of the Hideout and Corroded Coffin.

And I'm gonna take a pause because like.... I love the set up that to get stage time, Eddie working as a barback there and like........ can we appreciate that.

Can we picture Eddie running around, hair tied up, sweating, maybe wearing a white shirt... Jeans.... Going from table to table, wiping it down...them forearms, twisting that slutty little waist for whatever reason, you're at the bar, having a drink, and he gives a smile...........

Anyway.

I always wondered if Corroded Coffin wrote their own songs.... AND THEY DO. The only downside I really wished it was the Corroded Coffin we know. I love Ronnie but I'm like WHO IS DOUGIE?? It makes sense, it's two years prior, but at least we have Jeff and hail the 80s where they don't really give a fuck if a minor is drinking at a bar lmaoo but i love he's nervous about it. Shroud Fire sounds metal af i wish we could hear it.

but all this leading to Paige. And her freckles. I love that Eddie, and even he himself calling it very Caveman like, that his mind went, freckles. This man has the Munson Magic bc he is a dork but he could get with ANY ONE OF US. He has no play, his brain would short circuit, BUT WE WOULD BE SO INTO THAT.

I don't know of Paige's intention, but I feel for her struggles at her job, getting the dream job but still having to try and claw your way to the top and it being difficult bc not taken seriously.

She def after Eddie. I cannot blame her.

Which lead to the recent chapter where he goes to her and is like PLEASE SIGN US. Her taking a chance because she needs a big break as well.... I like that.

But I def laughed when she was like, "God, you just want to get to Dave and I thought--" we know what you thought and you so real for it, Paige. i'm just gonna chant MUNSON MAGIC okay. it is part of my vocabulary now. that is what got us all.

THE MUNSON MAGIC.

So far, I do like it. I feel it's a really easy read. Will I take it as canon? Idk. Maybe. Or at least take parts of it as canon, aka the things I like, which seems to be the majority of it so far. I'm not a novice at books tied to shows I watch, or movies even. I was heavily into the star wars books that turned to not be canon ( rip, mara jade skywalker ) but it doesn't take away my enjoyment of it. Enriches it, if anything. I think that's the most important thing.
