So! For this, we’ll assume Zoke doesn’t exist. Or that Pointy likes Zoey, but Mal doesn’t. Yay, because I don’t like Zoke!

Now, let’s assume (almost) everything plays out like in canon. You’re placed on the Heroes Team, due to “NEVER letting you and Jo be ANYWHERE near each other again. Seriously, how did you even get in there?”

Proximity to Mal: increased.

Of course, Evil Dread plays out like usual. However, the newly-emerged Mal decided “hey, I like this crazy son of a bitch! Why did Mike even go for Zoey?” and, well, suffice to say, he likes you.

He gets close to you (and away from Zoey and Cameron, who could tell if Pointy’s out) under the guise of making friends. Oh, he is making friends. More than friends.

The moment he truly falls in love with you is the moment he catches you changing the password on Sierra’s phone(s). Someone like you will rule beside him on the Dark Throne™️ he plans on buying with the million!

Cue everyone’s stuff getting stolen, and regifted to you with slightly sappy, slightly threatening letters. Don’t worry, Dudcan will be getting the blame for this. He’ll make sure of it.

He stands extremely close to you in challenges, often keeping a hand on one shoulder or on your waist. Sometimes he’ll even sabotage ones you struggle in.

Of course, you help him out with his more legal schemes. Taking stuff and putting it in the bags of others, deleting Sam’s save files, uploading Noco (i do NOT ship it) to Sierra’s phone, and being generally horrible people. The explosions and attempted murders are kept from you, though.

If you have any enemies, don’t worry! They’ll be in for HELL. Mal will mess with them in so. Many. Ways. Turning their friends/allies/partners against them, sabotaging challenges, even bribing Chris if he finds a way. And believe me, he WILL.

Now, as for changes to canon.

Sundae Muddy Sundae is not horrible now. He keeps the chart a secret, as so to torment Pointy with Zoey’s elimination. As a result, the game comes down to The Evil Troublemakers vs Courtney’s Polycule. Unfortunately, there’s probably another episode added between this and the penultimate one, leaving either you, Scott or Gwen gone. We’ll go with Gwen for this.

In the penultimate episode, Chris decides who goes to the finale: Courtney and Mal.

Mal

is

PISSED.

Expect Chris’s “cottage” to be blown up once again. Or worse (better), his hair gel to be replaced with something like mud. Or you could expect to see Chris with some new burgundy scars. Something of the sort.

Anyways, Courtney vs Mal finale. Courtney wins. Better than canon.

No reset button. Somebody decides to bring another alter out, possibly by dropping him off a cliff so Svetlana HAS to come out or they’ll die. Either way, no reset button.

After the show, Mal does sometimes emerge (under supervision) to meet up with you. Expect stories of juvie, horror movie marathons and Gamer Rage™️.

Sometimes I forget that Kairi isn't necessarily chosen by the Keyblade but instead chooses to fight like Sora does. It’s so interesting thinking about what it means in the narrative.

Kairi just touched Aqua’s without thinking at a scary moment and gained access to one which is still given to her by Riku for some reason that’s never explained while Sora...also gets his from Riku. Yeah, Terra gave Riku the chance to receive his Braveheart Keyblade when he became the person Terra hoped he'd become but Riku was already chosen by the Kingdom Key before that and gained access to Way to the Dawn by himself.

Summoning the Keyblade without being given it by another person is technically what it means to be chosen. Xigbar says as much when he doesn't consider Sora chosen despite him winning the Kingdom Key from Riku himself because of the strength of his heart. He's used as a direct parallel to Mickey in the Musketeers. The antagonist paved the way for his rise to power but said power "isn't really his" or...at least he doesn't consider it as his. There's likely to be a "confession" scene about who the Kingdom Key was meant for from Sora at a particularly low point in his character journey...and yet Riku already knows it was his and thinks Sora got it fair and square lol. I don't think it's a inherent sin to receive power that wasn't yours, originally.

And I happen to LIKE this because it’s nice to see people who weren’t chosen choose to fight anyways. Who cares about chosen and not chosen when the worlds or perhaps a friend is in need of help? If you’ve got the drive and power and choose to help, who's to say you haven't chosen yourself?

You can be great without some grand prophecy hanging over your head.

WELL, gently taps the current pinned post of this blog, that one's a freebie ^__^

Anyway. BOY ranking them all is really hard bc so many characters in the series have permanently set up camp in my head by now and arent particularly inclined to leave any time soon, but if I had to list off just a couple examples that have caused me the most brain damage so far, itd be:

- Terra, hands down my number 1 most specialest guy in the whole world. Instantly became enamored with him from the moment I first set eyes on him and then proceeded to have all of my ribs carefully and meticulously pulled out of my chest one by one throughout the entirety of bbs and the entire rest of the series after that. Its so dire man I literally cannot look at any images of him now without physically having to hold myself back from making a long strangled whine Out Loud With My Mouth every time

- the entire Wayfinder Trio as a collective unit + Vanitas also tbh. Terra's obviously my Primary Favorite but the wayfinders as a whole also make my heart hurt so fucking bad man. My partner and I choose to interpret them all as siblings bc it leads to some exceptionally delicious and painful rs dynamics to explore imo and something abt it just makes The Miseries hit that much harder in ways that have literally had me writhing on the couch with a thousand yard stare rapidly cycling through the five stages of grief on loop. I'm also counting Vanitas as part of the unit bc he's just so closely tied to Ven in my brain that separating them (lol.) feels Wrong (lmao.), and. God. Vanitas might just be one of THE most tragic characters in literally any media I've experienced and I say this without a single hint of irony. The current total wordcount of the rps that I've written abt the wayfinders with my partner so far has probably shot past 50k by now. Why am I hurds

- Kairi. I was originally mostly ambivalent/neutrally intrigued abt her but kept getting increasingly more pissed abt her treatment and constant sidelining by the writing to the point where I got to kh3/mom and something in me snapped entirely, and from that moment onwards I decided to love her entirely out of spite. She instantly shot up to become one of my favorites after that and if I think abt her meta and story potential for longer than five minutes at a time I start frothing at the mouth

- Sora, naturally. I have so so so so many thoughts on this little darling boy that could easily double the wordcount of this ask just by themselves but the most important thing to mention here in lieu of that, for now, is that he's is the One (1) and ONLY child ive ever seen, whether real or fictional, that has made me experience emotions anywhere Close to resembling baby fever. I want to dribble him like a basketball but also gently pinch his cheek affectionately and also spoil him silly like a grandma seeing her beloved grandson again for the first time in months

- Xigbar. This fucko is the one I'm the most mad about ending up liking as much as I do, not because hes a bad character, absolutely far from it I fucking ADORE this terrible bodyhopping little cunt, but because it happened by complete accident after I realized he shares a lot of (surface) similarities with my favorite blorbo from another entirely unrelated franchise and I then got mad about realizing I have a very easily clockable Type (which I've affectionately dubbed the Guys That Suck category. I have more too obv but its the funniest one I have). He's also infuriatingly fun to write. Get me OUT of here

- Xemnas, Terranort and Ansem SoD. Everyone in the Nort Collective counts tbh but those three are the ones I lose sleep over the most, particularly the first two; Xemnas bc he makes me feel an unfathomably deep and haunting sense of grief (brought on by me finishing bbs and then realizing days later the exact way his creation connects to Terra's story and hearing the sound of fucking glass shattering at the back of my head instantly), and Terranort bc I'm fucking terrified of him and he also makes me want to eat gravel whenever I think abt him in context with him interacting with the rest of the wayfinders. He's also really fun to write and this fact Upsets Me. Ansem's listed bc you can never go wrong with the ol reliable mad scientist. The rest of the norts I would probably also be a lot more insane over once I actually get off my damn ass and start picking through the mobile games but that's an endeavor for Future Salty (i am very excited and terrified)

- the Lingering Will. I'm counting it as a separate entity from Terra and the rest of the Terra Collective on a technicality bc (LOUD TELEVISION STATIC AS I GESTURE FRANTICALLY AND FURIOUSLY @ THE JUMBLED BALL OF YARN LABELED "my thoughts on the physical and psychological effects of being a guy who got his soul and entire being shattered into like five million distinct pieces for over 10 Whole Entire Years" THAT I HAVE NOT EXPLAINED THE ENTIRETY OF TO A SINGLE OTHER SOUL ON EARTH) but. Eah. This fucking haunted hunk of metal has been eating holes through my brain tissue ever since I first saw the kh2 secret superboss and I'm distraught over it every single day of my life. This thing is like a weird bug to me. Do you understand. (tearign up) Do you get me. Do I have to pull out the Lingering Will/The Hollow Knight venn diagram

And as for the other fuckos haunting my cranium on the daily I can only mention a couple other honorary picks that honestly could also very well have made it to the main list if not for the fact that this post is already long enough as it is, and these following characters are therefore mostly delegated to Sleeper Agent Blorbos who I don't think about QUITE as often as the ones listed above but whenever I Do I get just as distraught and ailed over them. Mission accomplished! >:D But honestly, truly, it started off as something of a joke...and then I started thinking like, "Hey, Xemnas and Xigbar have known each other for more than ten years, going all the way back to bbs, and have always been scheming together..."

And then add in the layer of them being the only ones in the know of the rest of the organization forming hearts, but still being pretty adamant about having no feelings (especially Xemnas lol), the fact that they're both possessing people, and then the added added layer of "hey isn't it weird that I stabbed you out of nowhere and you seem way too chill about it now", and the transition between xehabraig to xigxem, and the general weirdness of the kinda relationship that comes out of...all that. Buuuut a lot of this is putting together information from bits and pieces scattered through the games, hence the impulse to try and pull it all together in the form of self-indulgent comics.

But oh wow, thank you!! I'm really flattered :') If it's any help, I started reading a little bit of Witch Hat Atelier recently, and I feel like that's helped my understanding of comic pacing a lot, especially with using panels (not that I'm anywhere near her level, or even attempting some of the cool tricks she does with panels, but it's nice inspiration). But other than that I highly recommend just diving in and having fun

Dark Road:

Not me studying the missing upperclassmen of Scala to see if anyone looks familiar (like a somebody of Luxord and Demyx, but I don't think they fit that bill). However this looks like it's probably Baldr's missing sister.

Missing-Link:

These devices in Missing-Link are probably "links" lol. (Gee how would I have ever guessed)

Apparently the title Missing-Link refers to this taking place in the time between Union Cross and Dark Road (to link them). Makes sense as... that's what the game is.

Missing-Link could also be

-a missing link in a chain of memories

-a lost page of the Book of Prophecies

-a missing star connecting a constellation? (i.e. Yozora or Nameless Star reference)

-a missing person (plenty of candidates lmao. Nameless Star, Subject X, Ava, the population of Daybreak Town, the population of Scala ad Caelum, even Sora. Plus I am sure there will be even more murders *cough* 'missing people' during this game.)

Side note; I think it'd be cool if you got creepy correspondence from a missing person's link. 👀

It's probably also a slight reference to D-Links from BBS, which is how you tap into the trio's and Disney characters' powers. So your link is probably canonically how you use the medals shown. You probably equip your medals to set which moves you can use, like how it works in UX, with a mix of BBS since it’s now in 3D with 3D moves.

Cue me getting hype as hell. I love BBS style customization. UX had plenty of customization but now that it's in 3D we can actually get a heckton of recognizable moves from across the entire series as equippable medals. Watch me equip all Sonic Blades and just nope off into space.

Okay two things here:

First off, gotta be a reference to Yozora (don’t you know, he has a copyright on the night sky). Secondly, it's probably safe to imagine that we'll be dealing with another Real Daybreak Town VS Data Daybreak Town situation here. Since the "stars shown contorted", I think that means that things aren't quite right. 👀 Like, perhaps the constellations don’t line up right... BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT REAL *gasps in shock*

Actually I don’t think I have a lot to say here. It’s beyond cool that the Dark Seeker saga is done and we’re getting the start of The Lost Master arc. Seriously the Master of Masters is such a fun character, so I’m excited.

Ignoring his very concerning words, this appears to be the Master of Masters and Luxu due to their stances. Which alright, we were already wondering how MoM got to Quadratum, but now Luxu is here as well? Is it that fucking easy to get to Quadratum? I mean it’s not SUPPOSED to be that easy. Sora and Strelitzia got there by DYING. They’re straight up DEAD. Xigbar went and faked his death and had a chat with the Foretellers and then apparently just moseyed on over to Quadratum??? They got some sorta secret backdoor to just go back and forth as much as they want? Well okay, maybe it’s not dissimilar to the dark corridors I suppose...

Also, the Master of Masters wanted to vacay in Quadratum to get away from the Darknesses who were chatting him up in UX, but where there is light, darkness will follow, so lookie here he introduced KH’s darkness and heartless and shit to this world, good job buddy.

Edit: I forgot the Donald and Goofy at the end bit. It’s probably Hades which makes sense because why wouldn’t you wanna talk to the Lord of the Dead to get ideas on how to bring back a dead person lol.

My theories and opinions. No I do not have proof nor facts to back up my theories, they are just thoughts. This is Kingdom Hearts anything can happen.

Yes I'm about to ramble and analyze the crap out of this because it is absolutely b e a utiful.

First off Larxene definitely has a secret. For her to be as nice as she was in UnionX as Elrena and her completely flipping the switch in KH as Larexene just had me thinking she has something to do with SOMETHING lol or the no heart thing got to her. Pika pika.

Xehanort is protected behind his army of minions. But he's still involved! Making me believe he is still important to the storyline. Also thinking we will not be seeing Xemnas nor Ansem anymore. Rip to the Lord of Nothingness and Rip to the Dark Seeker. Riku literally says he will miss Ansem and I believe both of their deaths were touching...in a way. Xemnas was my fav villain. Young Xehanort was just evil to me lmao. And just wondering, isn't Xehanorts life/ timeline be in repeat mode now....like a endless loop because of the time travel...if so will this happen to Sora....? Is it already taking place....

STRELITZIAAA is sleeping! Directly across from Namine who is awake! Makes me think they are connected maybe.

Brain is looking downward and is the only one looking down out of the Union leaders drawn telling me he has a different path set than them. Luxu and Gula are also in the same position making me think maybe they will appear in the Missing Link or in that same storyline. Brain is in the same position as young Eraqus makes me believe which is not confirmed yet that Brain is in fact related to Eraqus. Skull and Ephemer are facing opposite directions. They were split up. Skulls pod worked and sent her to the future but Ephemers did not and he remained there and rebuilt Scala out of the remenents of Daybreak Town...how? THE MASTERS DEFENDER! Which is a keyblade, that is now Aquas, in which completely transformed Land of Departure into Castle Oblivion and vice versa. This trick had to of been done before...and just to say Skuld is the only one really looking off into a different direction from everyone else....she is subject X from the secret reports....well we think she is, not confirmed yet. Some think subject X is Ava but nooo its Skuld. but anyway back to this "X" it was a random X on a message from Nomura at the event and the pattern in the background of the art has patterns of continuous "x"s. Was that Nomura hinting to us about KHIV reveal or KHIV being about SUBJECT '"X".....I mean the 4 columns and one was missing...Sora holding up 1 and 2 and 3 fingers....it could have been predicted easily. Maybe Nomuras "X" is more than we think...like always.

MASTER OF MASTERS up there playing puppet master with Ira and Invi right by his side. But Ava and Aced are completely turned looking the other way.. And im just going to say I think Gula is the true traitor and Luxu is the scapegoat just like Xehanort ya know it's the "x" that makes me think they all had the same type of role to play. Like a vessel for darkness or something. Anyway Gula wanted to summon KH to bring back the master so idk that rings traiter to me..but Ava agreed with Brain if you know what the future holds what is the point of the future, so like Ava questioned the universe. She did not want to believe the fate of the world and maybe she tried to change it..did she take that leap like Sora? Is this why she is missing...she disagreed with Gula on summoning Kingdom Hearts because she wanted to stay true to the Masters teachings. But maybe her role made her do other wise.

Mickey, Donald and Goofy smack dab in the middle makes me think maybe we will be able to have them as playable characters! At the end of the KHIV trailer Goofy and Donald are alone and maybe on a mission from the King himself.

DEMYX AND XIGBAR/LUXU LOOK SUSPECT AS HELL! They are literally smiling at eachother. MoM&Luxu......

DarkRoad Xehanort is looking up to young Eraqus(light) and young Eraqus is looking down to DR Xehanort (darkness). CANT WAIT FOR DARK ROAD IN AUGUST!

I'm just going to say Eraqus and Xehanort really do remind me of young Sora and young Riku..........

Nomura is peaking out behind Luxord making sure we don't forget about that wild card Luxord gave Sora! IT MAY CHANGE THE TABLES!

Vanitas is holding 4 fingers up as if to be saying yea you ain't seen the last of me.

Also, I noticed Sora is cut off. He is in his own space cut off from everyone else, with his own backgrounds. Makes sense because he is cut off from his reality in Quadratum right now. Meaning I think KHIV will be just a Sora game and his journey through Quadratum or/and other worlds. His KHIV look is much older making me feel he is ready for a big boy journey.. even Donald confirmed how much more mature Sora is getting in one of the loading screens in KHIII. Will our Beloved Keyblade Wielder travel alone and carry the weight of 3 half pints by himself this time?👇
