Ta-da! How many of you were surprised I'd do Lycoris Recoil instead of Madoka Magica, or Ave Mujica? Teasing, teasing. Originally I was going to do one of the two, actually, easy for Ave Mujica because of their overall aesthetic and pmmm because of.. well. you know already. though if you want me to go crazy about that, you can always ask, hehe! I saw another person use spider lilies in their piece too (wonderful work, btw!) and so I am excited to present it to you again. we made all of the lycoris flower stims ourselves. I'm also not the best at explanations but um... I'll try. smile

What a more fitting source than one with it literally in the title, right? If two characters defeat the purpose of the prompt, have Takina be the focal point, it's who I kin after all so it is from that perspective mainly. Higanbana or Lycoris Radiata, more commonly known as the red spider lily, are flowers often associated with darkness, grief, despair, rebirth/reincarnation, and of course... death. Radiata's counterpart, Lycoris Albiflora, or white spider lilies, are associated with light, healing, freshness, renewal/reincarnation and opposite to her tragic partner... life. I felt it would be perfect to incorporate both flowers to represent both Chisato and Takina and how they reflect each other in opposite ways throughout the entire story. At first, we're shown that Chisato is a pacifist, who uses her gift and privilege to save others. Trained to be a killer with the high expectations to harm, she uses only non-lethal methods to protect herself and those around her. Lycoris Albiflora. Takina, however, is a trained killer who has been shown to have killed and was relieved of her privilege due to reckless behavior. She had to learn to take things slow, she had to learn how to show mercy. Lycoris Radiata. Though on the opposite side, Chisato's (spoilers?) looming themes of dying and/or leaving ties her to Radiata in the same sense that Takina learning to use the same non-lethal methods and being less reckless around others/protecting them connects her to Albiflora. Both of them embody life and death, one more than the other, but to me it is simply yin and yang. I also think the fact that a lycoris is still a lycoris despite what color it is... we love good motifs <3

The short explanation? I am Takina Inoue and I love Chisato, the source's whole theme surrounds the pretty red death flower, and I had this super fun idea for like a solid week since you posted the announcement and I did not want to back down on it. I hope you enjoy !! ily so muchie and congrats on 300+ you're the bestest ever .

Ahhh, thank you so much!! 💖I'm glad you enjoy FFTD!! That series also tends to be my favorite of everything I've written, too. There's just something about FFTD Matty...

I could certainly give you some tips/suggestions that I've learned along the way! I've been writing and reading fanfic since 2005 so I've been around for a bit 😅 Though if there is something more specific that I didn't address--like something more specific with writing or editing or something--you (or anyone else who's curious) can certainly always send me an ask and I will always answer when I have a few minutes! But I'm not going to claim I'm remotely an expert on all of this, either. This is just from my experience and talking with other fic writers.

As always, the answer is below the cut!

First, I think it's always important to keep in mind that the more you write, the better your skill will grow with writing. Which goes for everyone, no matter how long you've been writing for or whatever your age is. I always see an improvement in my writing when I read something from even just a few months ago. And I even cringe at things like the very first Matt fic I wrote or even some early FFTD installments. So don't be too hard on yourself!

I think it's also important to remember to not compare yourself to others. We all have different styles and voices and that's a wonderful thing in writing. If everyone wrote the same or had the same ideas, there'd be nothing interesting to read. Everything would sound the same which would be boring. Personally, I didn't find my writing style/voice and grow comfortable with it until almost a year and a half ago when I started writing for the Daredevil fandom, so it's completely okay if you are still searching for yours.

Don't let any negative comments you might ever receive writing fanfic drag you down. Everyone gets them, and some fandoms have different dynamics than others where it may happen more often than in another one (though come on y'all, can we please practice the don't like don't read rule??). I think anyone who writes fanfic long enough will receive at least some hate. I've certainly gotten plenty over the years, and yes, it sucks and it can hurt or piss you off, but you have to remember to brush it off. There are likely many others enjoying your story to make up for that one person who's being rude. Block buttons can be your friend if you need them.

If you're having trouble writing a character that already exists in the fandom, studying them in the source material is always a good route. The amount of times I've gone and re-watched Daredevil, Punisher, or Kin in order to feel like I capture any of the characters in there just right is absurd, but it really does help to see their mannerisms, speech patterns, and to begin to get a feel of how they'd react in different situations based on how they've reacted in the show.

Lastly, when you write chapters for your fics and it begins to feel daunting, know that you can always break things down into more manageable chunks. I used to struggle to write much at a time until I learned to focus on the story in this way as opposed to focusing on everything that I still needed to make happen. Just focus scene by scene or even line by line. How to get Character A to do this or get to that point, for example, and it should hopefully seem significantly less terrifying. If you try to think of everything that needs to happen in a chapter all at once, it might begin to feel overwhelming and you may have the urge to give up. Try breaking things down and focusing on one thing at a time.

I could absolutely go on but I don't want to ramble! Actually, I'd like to express my experiences as an alterhuman who was previously antikin. I'd also like to hear from others like this, as I'm sure I'm not alone.

Now, I've known I was a werewolf since I was <8 and an android since I was <13 (or thereabouts). I was not online at these times. So they were just things I felt to be true and kept within myself, except amongst others who were acceptably 'weird' enough to allow me to be 'weird' too.

Even so, I felt they thought I was messing around and not being serious, but to me, expressing that I was a werewolf (this was stronger than the android feelings for a long while) was just telling the truth and it felt good to get it out. It was a similar feeling to what would later happen when I came out as trans. It was about truth of the self.

At this time I also latched deeply onto a lot of fictional characters (none of these would turn out to be kintypes, btw) in a way that may be described as constellic or fictionflickers or otherhearted or some combination of all of these.

Then I did get online. But still I had no idea what 'otherkin' was. Then I got onto Tumblr and I learnt about otherkin, but as it turned out, in the worst way. I learnt because of a blog dedicated to posting 'otherkin cringe'. It showcased only the wildest stuff, the horror stories of the most inappropriate behaviours and logical dissections of why otherkin was bad and why it wasn't what they said it was.

You know the arguments. The point was, as my first exposure, they all sounded really logical and so I believed them. There seemed no shortage of 'bad and cringe' things being done and said by otherkin. At one point I was even convinced that 'otherkin = bad but therians are okay' because of the more spiritual aspect I thought therianthropy had. It made sense at the time. The point is, I became very vehemently antikin.

Not 'go out of my way to harrass otherkin' antikin, but 'long posts and rants on why nobody can be/should be kin' antikin for sure. Very cringe.

All the while I convinced myself that my feelings of being a werewolf and android were different to what otherkin were going through. I didn't bother to try and learn more, because I disagreed with the spiritual and metaphysical aspects I'd already heard and was too bogged down by the ideology against otherkin I'd already absorbed.

And because I had so many flickers and took on briefly so many fictional identities I imposed those feelings on everyone's kintypes. I believed obvious trolls. I believed otherkin were transphobic in their own dysphoria claims. I believed that mentally well people couldn't possibly have such beliefs. etc etc. They had me hook, line and sinker.

Then I met someone who I thought was cool, and they were otherkin, and I got talking to them and I realised how sincere their identity was and how much joy it brought to them to be able to be truly themselves. It reminded me of myself. I opened up about my own feelings and they were taken seriously, fully seriously, for once.

This was the start of a wonderful journey of piecing myself together. Some of them were old pieces that needed to be fully explored and some were newly awakened as time went on. I let myself explore my beliefs and feelings.

Now I realise that yeah, I'm likely what/who I am because of being ND but also I'm happy to state that I do believe that the essence of myself is eternally revolving, the me here is connected to many versions of myself in a non-linear fashion from many universes. So I am, will be, and have been all the things I am. I don't need these things to have evidence of being true because it's harmless for me to believe them.

Antikin still exist and we also have KFFers and it's in the same ballpark. Many will be people who just haven't had a good introduction to alterhumanism. Maybe they're alterhuman themselves, maybe not. I'm not saying give them any time and energy off your own back and waste your time on those who just don't want to hear. I'm just saying that if it feels like somebody is asking a question, even an obvious one, in good faith - your answer could be the start of some serious questioning on their part. I know it was for me.

things I love about myself: when someone is going through anything or needs help with anything they will call me before anyone else, i have an ugly laugh so guaranteed if i laugh someone else will as well, how much i love animals if i see a stray around my house i will adopt it immediately, if i see a stranger crying in public my eyes will not leave them alone until i get the courage to walk up to them and ask whats wrong, i am very confrontational i will always stand up for whats right no matter how scary the situation may be, how greedy i am for money but when i love someone i will spend the world on them, how excited i get for little things like when someone buys me redbull, monster, cherry pepsi or chocolate pretzels/strawberries my day cant be ruined, how in touch i am with being grateful if someone helps me in anyway or does something in general to benefit me i will never forget it, dont take people for granted, ive been told anytime someone hangs out with me that being with me feels safe and peaceful, pay attention to the little things, how even though i dont care about plushies i have been given some and i make sure to kiss them all goodnight in case they are actually real and see what happens, if i know someone is having a hard mental health day i will clean for them/ get them icecream and be patient till they are ready to talk about it, without fail a quiet person will always be loud with me, i am the type of person who just wants people i love to be happy even if its not with me, i will always choose them i dont say i love you until i mean it i will celebrate the people i love, i am very observant if i see that someone wants something i will get it for them no matter what, i will make it my mission to compliment a stranger that looks like they are having a hard time so their day is a little better, how i say i love kids even though if they can be annoying i will protect them with my life and im so gentle with them, I am not ashamed of what i love like anime for example even though when I was teased for it when I was little i never once hid that i loved it even if i dont like a song that someone shows me i will be hyper while listening to it so they dont feel small and embarrassed around me, how soft i become when someone holds my hand, I love psychical affection a lot so it's not a problem for me, i love how hardworking i am, whether its how much i love actually working or just getting out of bed knowing how hard my mind is fighting i love how i have gotten up despite how challenging it is to, i am an emotional person but i will always cry for a sad scene in a movie, if I love someone, they'll be seen.

You probably met in the zoo or at the entrance to it. Why Adam was at the zop is still unknown but he was there. He was probably watching over Emily as she looked at everything

She saw you and introduced you to Adam as a new soul trying to get him to meet some other people

He probably didn't remember your name at first...

He was also really rude when you were polite calling you a pushover and leaning on you trying to make you feel small

This didn't work on you no matter how many times he called himself the 'original dick'

After a while of dealing with him you both probably walked around and began talking with each other. He was probably kinda brash and rude the entire time but you never took it from him and he fell in love

You were also still kind to him and he felt kinda bad after a while

When you get into one of your rambles he might end up zoning out but then he'll zone back in and most likely say the most out of pocket shit you've ever heard before

You being straightforward with him is amazing as you're not afraid to correct with some stuff which is great because you humble him every now and then

When you use big words he doesn't understand he'll pause for a moment and call you a nerd

"I don't know what those long ass words exist anyways like just fucking explain it bitch,"

When he's kinda mean to you he doesn't really mean it and thinks of it being funny. Although if you get uncomfortable he'll try and stop... keyword being try

You being curious and a rule breaker is something that he loves and will in fact encourage especially if it 'sticks it to the man'. He'll always stand up for you if you get someone mad and will be curious with you and sometimes do dumb shit in the process

He'll also probably try and pull some pranks with you every now and then on Sera or Peter. but maybe not Emily as you would both get your asses beat, plus she's really nice and you both like her so there's that

He'll also love to gossip with you. Actually he'll probably take you to the exorcists and you'll all just gossip together. That's how you met Lute and to be honest she was probably a lot and he tried keeping you away from her

You bring water bottles and medical kits for the exorcists when he brings you to watch them train

You quickly became a favorite of theirs as you care more for them than Adam in some aspects. Sometimes you'll even force him to help you carry stuff to them

Adam is the last person to give a shit about your anger issues. He'll actually encourage you to take them out on someone probably giving you a dummy and telling you to hit it and beat the shit out of it

As for being verbally aggressive he also just doesn't care and will probably join in with you

He doesn't mind you being overprotective but if it gets out of hand he will end up running/flying away from you but then getting you something to make up for it

You preen his wings for him every now and then and he loves it and will run up to you just to get you to do so

"Preen now!!!"

You also helped him out with the whole Eve and Lilith thing helping him get over it

This likely took some time for him to open up to you about it thinking that you might just run off or run away from him still thinking about his exes even if it wasn't in a romantic way more of an 'how did i fuck up that bad' way

But you helped him out and even though it was hard for him to open up (this took like a whole week of talking probably and opening up) he did so and ended up crying on your shoulder afterwards

"Ah shit, sorry about this" *sniffle*

He was likely very embarrassed after the talk and never wanted to bring it up again

He did NOT want you finding out about the exterminations. He knew that you would likely oppose them just from a few conversations with you and he didn't want to lose you

So you can imagine what did happen when you found out about them. Let alone it was he who suggested them

"Listen- man please just listen to me"

This resulted in a long argument between you two that carved a gap in your relationship but he kept begging you to forgive him saying that it was what was best for heaven and that they didn't have another choice

He even brought up Sera saying how important she was and that he never would've done the exterminations if she didn't approve of him going down there

This is where he might've lied saying that he took no pleasure in killing demons in order to keep you happy

He felt really guilty afterwards and bought you all of your favorite things. Rudbulls, pretzels, strawberries, cherry pepsi and chocolate. He even had the exorcists help him out with gifts and figuring out what he should get

"I'm really, really sorry,"

Moving onto the less angsty things with you being observant you probably get him quite a few things too like food, treats, and maybe an album or two from his favorite artists in heaven

He watches anime with you all the time (mostly for the... designs lets be honest) and will probably shout whenever there's some sort of plot twist saying that he 'saw it coming' when he probably didn't lets be honest here

"Oh FUCK yes!! I totally saw that! Did you see that? I saw it"

He also doesn't care at all with you being slightly greedy for money because quite honestly he's the same in some areas but that being said he will bug you for money if he ever runs out... or just doesn't want to spend his

You might have to get used to his music taste and him playing his guitar constantly as he does it every day at the worse times most likely. He tries not to but its almost like a skill at this point

You have to yell at him to stop if it really drives you crazy and he will in exchange for some kisses and cuddles

Speaking of cuddles he'll try and cuddle you daily. If you have down time? Cuddles. Work? Cuddles. Hard day? Cuddles. He'll find any reason to snuggle up with you

That also being said he likes to fold his wings around you in public just because he likes the gesture and he probably wants others to know that you're taken. (Someone hit on you once and he is NOT risking that again)

He notices that you melt when he holds your hand so he'll do it all the time grabbing it for no apparent reason and sometimes even kissing it just to see you get flustered or soften up

"You're so adorable y'know that right?"

One of the reasons he likes it is because he feels somewhat in control or that he's doing something right in his relationship which honestly says a lot since eve and lilith

He loves how hardworking you are and how you help out with the exorcists from time to time making sure that they don't get hurt and such

He'll tell you that you don't need to but you'll do it anyways to help them out

I'd also like to imagine that there are some exorcists like vaggie who have trauma from the exterminations themselves and you would talk to them and help them through it as the year goes on

Adam doesn't see the point in it but he won't question it saying that you can do whatever you want

Since you're 5'8 and shorter than him by quite a pick he'll pick you up bridal style and carry you around sometimes

Or when hugging you he'll squeeze you and pick you up and probably spin you around

"Its sooo good to see you again!"

I'd like to imagine that he also has some attachment issues so when you come back he's almost like a sick puppy waiting for you to come home

He'll wait for you for hours on end just at the door all grumpy until you come on over and give him a hug

He'll also sometimes end training early if he wants to see you

"Alright ladies wrap it up!"

You might get at him for this but he won't listen and will just turn on your favorite anime all the way up with a smug little grin on his face

When he didn't come back from his extermination Lute was the one who told you he was gone before storming off and calling the demons filth and names

You were devastated and wanted to make a grave in heaven for him but Sera declined for the longest time before finally agreeing saying that only those with special access could see it though since the people of heaven might suspect something

His grave ended up being put in a secluded area in a place that you could only visit a few times a week since Sera said that she didn't want anyone getting suspicious of where you were going

Mostly because as the souls in heaven are kind they still are flawed to some extent and might follow you around

You still help the exorcists every now and then but not as much since Lute's in charge now and she hardly lets you through saying that you can't be in there

Overall your relationship has its ups and downs but in the end you two are a very loving couple <3

i'm actually kind of proud of this one tbh, i had the right (in my opinion) songs for ivan but yes! :)

everytime i talk about my playlist of him, i keep thinking of the song caravan because i feel like both the movie whiplash and sadism's hold are similar to me. the psychological stress and manipulation are so fascinating. the ending to whiplash and how ivan manipulates the listener comes out so natural and realistic, it can't be seen unless you really open your eyes and see the dark side on things. it makes you forget what had happened and the process throughout it that made andrew and the listener become like how ivan/fletcher wanted them to be. and the way it makes you give in and think it's completely okay and comforting and safe because it was what you have loved and/or what you have been needing. the whole thing with the psychology behind it makes it so eerie but interesting.

Do you know what time it is? Exactly! Time for me to overanalyze Batman Forever.

I was watching that scene of Edward and Harvey together for the thousandth time.

They discover Batman's identity and I started to think, why didn't Harvey have a bigger reaction when he found out that Bruce was Batman? Especially considering that in the movie it is slightly implied that they were friends before the acid accident

It was just weird how he almost didn't care about the fact that his former best friend was literally the man he's been trying to kill and who failed to save him.

(I love how it's in a "I don't care" mode in this scene that's why I put the image, and I also don't want so much text together)

My first reaction was like "Oh well he's more distracted paying attention to Edward and Batman doesn't really matters" (which is kinda true btw).

But after thinking about it for a while, I came to the answer: Harvey was in a dissociative state because of the news.

He has Dissociative identity disorder (formerly misknown as multiple identity disorder) and DID is literally a dissociative disorder (as its name says) and many people who have it can become depersonalized and derelative (I took this information from the profile Sistema el Imperio, specifically this video )

And it happens that I suffer from depersonalization and derelization and literally as a coincidence I had a moment of dissociation due to something that happened to me and I reacted in the same way as Harvey in the movie, and by reacting I mean not doing it and focusing my attention on something else I was like "Oh I understand what's going on...and what now?" because I was really doing it just...There was no reaction no matter how much I wanted to, I even felt guilty because there was no reaction despite understanding what was happening and how other things caught my attention more.

That happened to Harvey, he was like "Oh yeah I fully understand that my former friend in all sight is my biggest enemy now...but petting Edward's head as a reward is more important."

And in my case I got a reaction to what happened about 3 days later and it was relatively short, the same could have happened with Harvey when his brain process everything had a reaction but this obviously didn't happen on camera because no one from the production came up with it 🤷🏻‍♀️

And I think that's it, I just want to say that I love this detail even though it's more of a headcanon than anything can really be taken as canon, I also love this a lot because I kin Harvey and this made me identify more with him.
