Three brave and glorious women
Tumblr media
Yana Rykhlitska Three brave and glorious women. For the International Women Day 2023 I would like to remember three extraordinary female characters, offering this way my homage to all the women of the world who are struggling for justice and freedom. Yana Rykhlitska, a 29-year-old paramedic who volunteered for the Ukrainian army in the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar Mechanized Brigade, has been killed near the city of Bajmut. Yana died during the evacuation of the wounded because the ambulance she was moving in was shot at by Russian troops, most likely by mercenaries of the Wagner Group, who have been slaying the city for days. Yana was known among the Ukrainian military fighting on the Bajmut front as "the angel of Ukrainian troops". An insurance company worker, Yana voluntarily joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces to work as a doctor at the stabilization center in the city of Bajmut following the Russian invasion. Furthermore she had been active in raising funds for Ukrainian fighters since the beginning of the invasion. Yana's friend Tetiana Zenart explained, "Hours before his medical evacuation vehicle was attacked, I asked her how she was." "She replied to me that she was having fun and still one piece." Spanish journalist Almudena Ariza also wanted to remember Yana, whom he met at the military hospital in the besieged city of Bajmut. "He told us she couldn't talk to the media, but offered us coffee and smiles," she wrote on his Twitter account. Rykhlitska's work was greatly appreciated by the soldiers, but also by the civilian population. She will always be remembered as a brave warrior, especially in Bajmut, where she also carried out 'on-site' evacuation work. They call her "bakhmoth angel." Her loss dealt a major blow to Ukrainian resistance.

St. Joan of Arc Jeanne d'Arc, also known as Joan of Arc, was born into a peasant family in northeastern France during the Hundred Years War between France and England. In 1429, at the age of 17, she presented herself to the Dauphin of France, Charles VII, and convinced him to give her command of an army to liberate the city of Orléans from the English siege. Joan also led troops to overcome a monastery named Bastille des Augustins that controlled a south approach to two English strongholds, Les Tourelles and Saint-Loup. These strongholds were part of a series of forts built by the English around Orleans in an effort to prevent anyone from leaving the city and to prevent trade and communication from entering, which helped secure her victory. Thanks to her military skills and her ability to inspire soldiers, Her leadership and military tactics were instrumental in repulsing an English attempt to conquer France during the war. Joan was able to win the battle and subsequently led the dauphin to her coronation as king of France. However, in 1430, Joan was captured by allied forces of the English and Burgundians and she was sold to the English. She was tried for heresy and witchcraft before an ecclesiastical court and was accused of having received her military and political instructions directly from God. This was considered heretical, as it challenged the authority of the Catholic Church. Furthermore, she was accused of wearing men's clothes and of behaving inappropriate for a woman. Giovanna defended herself with great courage, but she was sentenced to death by being burned at the stake. She was executed in Rouen, Normandy on May 30, 1431, at the age of 19. It was only in 1456 that the Catholic Church recognized her innocence and proclaimed her a saint.

Queen Boudicca Boudicca, also spelled Boadicea or Boudica, was the queen of the ancient British Iceni tribe. She is renowned for leading a rebellion against Roman rule in 60 CE. Widely regarded as a British national heroine and a symbol of the struggle for justice and independence, Boudica became queen of the Iceni people when she married King Prasutagus. Her name means "Victorious Woman", known in Latin chronicles as Boadicea or Boudicea, and in Welsh as Buddug. The rebellion of the Iceni tribe in 47 CE could be considered as one of the causes of Boudicca's rebellion against the Romans. The Iceni's earlier rebellion against the Romans shows that despite their alliance with Rome, there were still tensions between the two sides. When the Romans tried to disarm the Iceni, it may have been seen as a breach of trust and a violation of their agreement. This could have further fueled the Iceni's resentment towards Rome and increased their willingness to rebel again. On his death in AD 60/61, Prasutagus made his two daughters as well as the Roman Emperor Nero his heirs. The Romans ignored the will, and the kingdom was absorbed into the province of Britannia. Catus Decianus, procurator of Britain, was sent to secure the Iceni kingdom for Rome, confiscating the royal family's properties and mistreating Boudicca and her daughters. In response to this abuse, Boudicca led a revolt against the Romans. She raised an army of over 120,000 uniting various rival tribes to form a formidable force and attacked the Roman cities of Colchester, London and Verulamium (modern St Albans), killing and destroying everything in her way. Her most important victory was that of London, which she burned to the ground. While her forces did manage to massacre approximately 70,000 Romans and their supporters, in the end Boudicca's rebellion was defeated by the Roman army led by Governor Suetonius Paulinus at the Battle of Watling Street in AD 61. According to some sources, she Boudicca died soon after, while others say she survived and lived for some time after the revolt. The Roman army was heavily outnumbered - according to the historian Cassius Dio the rebels numbered 230,000 - but Boudica's army was crushed, and according to Tacitus, neither the women nor the animals were spared. Tacitus states that Boudica poisoned herself; Dio says she fell sick and died, after which she was given a lavish burial. It has been argued that these accounts are not mutually exclusive. Anyway, despite her defeat, Boudicca has become a symbol of resistance and freedom for many Britons and her story has been passed down through the generations as an example of courage and determination against oppression.

Thomas Thornycroft (UK, 1815 - 1885)
Triumphant Boudica with Doughters on Chariot, 1856-85. Bronze positioned near Westminster Bridge in 1902.
Boudica (also written as Boadicea), Brythonic *boudi 'victory, win' + *-ka 'having' suffix, i.e. 'Victorious Woman', known in Latin chronicles as Boadicea or Boudicea, and in Welsh as Buddug.
After a Roman occupation force flogged her and raped her daughters, Celtic Queen Boudicca, led a revolt against Romans in 60 or 61 A.D., took London and finally defeated in 62 AD. Queen Victoria revived the forgotten legendary name.

What if rdr but in tlou universe... i'm thinking so many thoughts ok ..... like maybe dutch and Hosea started doing crimes and scams together a year or so before the outbreak then when it happened they decided to stick together and Arthur lived with his dad until the outbreak and Lyle just immediately died leaving 12 year old Arthur to fend for himself then at 13, Dutch and Hosea found him.
Then the rest of the gang join basically the same as in game and they form a little community kinda like Jackson just surviving, they have big trucks and stuff when moving as a group but they mostly use horses when going out in small groups so all the gang still have their horses !!
The gang makes a little makeshift town to live in except one day infected get in and they have to flee and Jenny, Mac and Davey die and Sean is split up. + boudicea dies rip.
They meet Sadie when her house was raided by O'Driscolls and all the commotion led in infected killing Jake. When she meets them she tries to kill them thinking they're O'Driscolls but things settle things once they explain they're just looking for resources and Sadie joins them.
This is all the same time period as tlou1 so 20yrs after outbreak which matches pretty perfectly since rdr2 is set around 20yrs since forming of gang lol

EUSTACE BURKE AGE: 41 BIRTHDAY: August 7, 1945 GENDER: non-binary BLOOD STATUS: Pure blood PREVIOUS SCHOOL: Hogwarts School, Slytherin OCCUPATION: Healer at St. Mungos ALLEGIANCE: The Cabal MAGICAL SPECIALIZATION: Necromancer SUGGESTED FACE CLAIMS: Oscar Isaac
PENSIEVE
Eustace Burke was born into the Burke Family, a lineage with strong ties to the dark arts and the Slytherin house. His parents, Boudicea and Leopold Burke didn't have any other children, and he was his uncle Caractacus favourite nephew since he was a child. With a lot of potential in his blood and the expectations of the family on him, it was only obvious that he was sorted into the Slytherin house when he joined Hogwarts.
Eustace grew up having a special disposition toward potions and herbology, being his favorite subjects at school. He didn't have to make much effort to do right in his studies or make friends wherever he went, as he possessed a certain charm and disposition with everybody that approached him. This bright and charming side he developed after seeing how his family had more of a brooding and dark attitude towards people, making it hard for them to thrive in some circles.
Deep inside, Eustace wanted to be liked, admired, and adored, so he made sure to work on the right connections at school, and detach, in some way, from the usual Slytherin reputation of being intimidating and cunning. Don't get him wrong, he IS all those things, but he doesn't see the need in showing them, especially if what he wants to do is achieve greatness and more power.
So, it wasn't weird that when Voldemort started gaining popularity, Eustace was there, not first but certainly in line to cooperate. He wasn't a death eater per se, but he liked to see himself as a collaborator. In his mind, joining the most powerful side at the moment was winning in all aspects. Thanks to his last name, as well as his credentials, he was appointed the role of spy, working at St. Mungos applying his knowledge as a healer, and developing connections with Order of the Phoenix members, as well as the Ministry.
During this time of affiliation with the death eaters, he was careful not to be too visible as one, understanding the implications for his popularity in case there was a downfall... which was the case. Somehow, he came out unscathed but disappointed in the sloppiness of putting all his eggs in one basket... Until he caught wind, through his good friend Verucca Buckthorn-Snyde of a new revolution: The Cabal.
Joining such a select secret society not only was attractive to him, but it was also the kind of power and control he was craving. His charms and being friends with people in high places allowed Eustace to get a place of importance and power in the Cabal, still keeping his "cover" job as a healer at St Mungo's, he's always in the loop of the latest happenings in the wizarding world. His allegiance to the Cabal may seem fickle to some, but deep inside he sees the project as part of him and his loyalty now lies with that secretive crowd.
For Eustace, the war seems to be just starting, and keeping tabs on all the key players is essential for survival.
PERSONALITY
Elegant, charming and incredibly smart, Eustace never passes ignore in any social gathering or visit he pays. Being the embodiment of what a true gentleman should be holds a dark past and a rather complicated character: full of prejudices, he always finds all faults in everybody but him and finds it hard to accept his own flaws. He's got distant manners, and his large personal sense of pride, expresses itself pretty often as arrogance, but inside, he is a really caring man, willing to do anything for the ones he loves most (but these people he can count with the fingers of ONE hand).
On a bad day Eustace is silent, sharp like a knife, say the wrong thing and he'll have the perfect and most hurtful remark brought from the past to hit where it hurts the most. However, getting to this instance with him is very hard. Aware of these dark tendencies, instead of giving in, he suppresses all negative impulses and keeps them to himself, image is everything and he would not risk hurting a profitable relationship for a simple anger bust. But the anger is there and he is scared of the repercussions it may have if he lets the beast out.
On the other hand, on a good day, which is almost every day, Eustace shows a helpful, charming facade. Getting people to trust and confide in him is one of his favourite things, and feeling needed by others drives him. Working in the "service" industry has taught him that the power of words is even stronger than some spells (although, he specializes in nonverbal magic as well, just for the economy of words).
Amortentia The ocean, beach sand and tropical summer nights
Boggart Being ignored and not listened to
Campbell’s character archetypes The everyman. Seeks connections and belonging; is recognized as supportive, faithful and down-to-earth.
Celtic zodiac Salmon - Intuitive, goal-oriented and fun-loving
Chinese zodiac Rooster - Punctual, sense of humor, caring.
Patronus An eagle
Western zodiac Sun in Leo - Eager for attention, charming, the soul of the party, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and a leader by nature. Vain and a little careless with other people's feelings. Scorpio Rising - Cunning in appearance, sharp, interesting, and enigmatic at times. Looks like someone you would confide all your secrets to, deep inside all he wants is to use those secrets to manipulate you. Moon in Leo - Needs validation and public recognition for his achievements. Seeks security in the world through his social status and career. Nurtures others through his work and voluntary role.

Firen Lhain:  Chapter 1211:  Switchback:  Part II / III
Osborn and Boudicea held hands as they stepped into their underground room. "Fitting that it's where the dungeon used to be." Osborn stated.
"So, we're in prison?" Boudicea asked.
"We always have been." Osborn replied. "Since you... since I died." he uttered. "The first time. Everything we have done is in a cage of our own making. The only thing we need is each other."
"And when, if I can't die when you do?" Boudicea asked.
"Then we can try again the next time." Osborn stated, "We have all the time in the world, and the only thing I want to do is hold your hand." He walked over to the bed, pulling her along. He sat down, and pulled her down, causing her to sit looking at him. The looks on their faces were at first hard, but softened with every moment as they looked at each other, until their frowns slowly turned into smiles.
"I have..." she said.
"No." he simply replied, and she gave him a shocked look, "All of the time we've been apart, the only thing I wanted was to be with you. All those years. All those lifetimes. All those millennia. Let them be."
Her smiled started to warm again as the two looked at each other.

Jaune slowly climbed the stairs, slumped forward and groaning, "So many stairs." Ilia rushed up under his arm. "Hm." he affirmed, "Maybe we need an elevator."
"Might be a little late..." Ilia uttered. "And kind of defeat the point of a castle."
"Meh." Jaune stated, "Anyone who wants to attack from the roof will hit a wall of Huntsmen first. The rest of the castle is basically a house."
"So, a shaft?" Ilia asked. "Makes it easier to get down to where you precious sisters are sleeping."
Jaune immediately stood upright. "No elevator!" he shouted, and Ilia giggled. This caused Jaune to stop midstride. Ilia turned around to look back at him.
"Hm?" she asked.
Jaune stepped forward, opening his arm to wrap around her, "You just giggled. And it was adorable."
Ilia changed to pink scales with red spots.

Summer loudly knocked on the door. "Who dares disturb us?!" Boudicea asked. Osborn's hand moved over to her hip.
"Come in?" asked.
Summer balanced the tray with one hand as she opened the door. "Brought you dinner." he eagerly stated as she carried the tray in. She placed it on the table.
"Do you know how long it has been since I've eaten?" Boudicea asked, and Summer just shrugged. She smiled, waved, and stepped to the door, "Enjoy." She closed the door, and Boudicea stared at the food as if it were a foreign concept to her.
Osborn stood up and offered her his hand. She let him take it, and let herself get pulled to her feet by the boy. He ushered over to the table. She politely sat down, not sure what to do. Last time she had eaten, they didn't even have cutlery. Osborn broke the bread, tore of a piece and handed it to her. He dipped it into the stew, and she followed him. She put it her mouth and was overwhelmed with thoughts and feelings she had not remembered for millennia. Osborn smiled as he placed his bread into his mouth.

Jaune opened the door, only to find Sheva arranging the couches. "Oh, uh?" Jaune asked, "Um?" Sheva quickly kneeled and kowtowed. "Wait?" Jaune asked, "I didn't mean..."
"The master suite is his sanctuary." Ilia said.
"From servants?" Sheva asked with incredible nervousness.
"From sisters." Jaune replied. "But, yeah, we also... you know?"
"Privacy is probably new to her." Ilia stated, and stepped passed him.
"Huh?" Jaune asked.
"Because it was new to me." Ilia replied.
"Oh, uh..." Jaune voiced, "I guess it is kind of new, I mean..." he said, and paused, looking at Sheva still on all fours.
"Please stand up." Ilia said. "For Jaune that means exactly what you think it does."
Sheva quickly stood up and nervously looked around.
Jaune closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. "You don't need to worry about the master's suite." he simply stated. "We have more than enough people to take care of that ourselves."
Sheva still looked nervous, "Oh, uh, M'Lord?" she asked, and he sighed.
"Did you really think she wouldn't pick it up?" Ilia asked.
"Yeah... yeah..." Jaune voiced. Sheva bowed again. "Just stand up and ask your question."
"I'm sorry, M'Lord, but, laundry?" she asked, and Jaune simply looked at her for a moment.
"Last one to leave in the morning can put the hamper outside the sitting room." Jaune simply voiced. "Happy?" he asked.
Sheva bowed once again, "Yes, M'Lord." she said. She then stood up, "Am I excused?"
"What?" Jaune asked with surprise, "Yes." he simply stated. She curtseyed and left the room. "Okay?" Jaune asked, "The M'Lord, and curtsey makes sense. What about about the bowing?"
"Because she is below you." Ilia stated, and Jaune scoffed.
"Whether you want to be reverred or not, you - are simply better than everyone else." Ilia said. "Other than maybe your wives."
Jaune sighed and then breathed in deeply. "I never wanted to be a feudal lord."
"I know." Ilia replied, "Maybe that's why you deserve to be one?" Jaune breathed in deeply once again. "So, now that we've climbed the castle, what did you want to do now?"
Jaune looked blank for a moment before speaking, "I honestly can't remember." he said with a sigh.

There was a knock on his officer door, "Who is it?!" Ironwood shouted. There was a pause until another knock happened. "Come?!" he shouted. The doors pulled to the side to reveal Neopolitan.
"Ah, Ms. Neopolitan?" he asked. She nervously, robotically marched in, with a folded piece of paper in her left hand. She halted in front of his desk. He reached forward and she simply stood there. "Is the paper mine?" he asked. She nervously saluted. He then reached his hand to her, "If you could?" he asked, and she handed him the paper. He sat back and unfolded the paper. Reading the short passage over a few times before putting it on his desk. "This makes it extremely easy for him." Ironwood stated, "I will give you an honourable discharge, which will let you acquire any benefits of being a veteran, along with a bonus for valor in lieu of appropriate metals. We don't want to draw undo attention, do we?"
Neopolitan looked at him nervously before returning her head to a proper attention. "Was there something else?" he asked. Neo paused for a moment before pointing at the paper. "You want it back?" he asked. She took the paper as he passed it to her. She then pulled out a pen and started writing on Ironwood's desk. Ironwood leaned over to try and read it, but Neo quickly covered up the page. He then sat back and let her continue her secrecy. She finished, and handed the reverse of the page to him. "I cannot give Sarah Arns an honourable discharge." Neo grabbed the paper again, and shielding it again wrote something else on it before handing it to him. "It's not because I do not wish to." Ironwood stated, "But the Atlasian military has rules."
Neo scribbled something else on the paper before handing it to him. He simply stared at it for a moment, 'Stupid rules.'
"Unfortunately, despite what some might believe, I am not above the rules and deportment I require of others in the military. I am not an Imperator, nor do I ever wish to be."
Neo pouted and turned away. "You're disappointment is understandable. As is your disapproval."
Neo grabbed the paper, and secretly wrote something again.
"Faking a suicide will not give any benefits to Sarah Arns." Ironwood stated, "That is unless you marry her."
Neo developed wide eyes and quickly fled the room. Ironwood breathed in a sigh of relief.
* * *
Sarah opened the connection and saw Neopolitan sitting on the other end. "Ms. Neopolitan, how might I direct your call?" Neo simply pointed at Sarah. "For me?" Sarah asked, and Neo nodded. "How can I be of help for you?" Sarah nervously asked. Neo brought her right hand into view, the index and middle fingers separated from the other two. Sarah watched earnestly as Neo brought her other hand into view, opened the same way. She then brought the hands together and started to rub where they opened. Sarah looked at it for a moment before averting her gaze and scoffing. "I - am - sorry, but?" she asked, and out of the corner of her eye saw Neo holding up a sign. Sarah turned to look at it, and there were three bulleted points:
Marry me.
I "Kill" myself.
You get my pension.
Sarah looked at her, unsure of what to think. The sign then changed to a single bulleted point:
Scissoring?
Sarah blushed and dropped her head, refusing to look at Neo. "That sounds suspiciously like fraud."
Sarah tried to ignore Neo moving on her end of the call before giving in and looking up. Her sign now read:
I killed myself to give Jaune all of my Dust and Lien.
"And, now you wish to do this with me?" Sarah asked, and Neo nodded. "Wouldn't General Ironwood suspect this is fraud?" Neo gave her a strong look before dropping her head. Neo looked at her, with various facial expressions as if she was trying to speak. "You think this is unfair, but you forget that I was the one to fail, to falter, to run away." Sarah then looked around before looking back, "This is a more wonderful place than I could imagine. While I was... peeved... I can assure you I have moved on from this, and now am simply joyful every day for what I have. Oh, yes, the renovations on the main tower are complete, including your room." Neo's eyes locked with her, and her sign reappeared:
No scissoring?
Sarah sighed and closed the connection. She sat back in the chair at her station. "Should I have?" she asked, before shaking her head.

A crow flew into the boardroom on the Proudclad, and everyone turned to stare at it. Emerald draw her pistols when a portal opened behind it. Raven and Taiyang stepped out as the crow flew away. The two looked around, eyes stopping on Cinder. Raven instantly and quickly stepped over to Cinder, grabbing her and dipping her back into a passionate kiss. She let Cinder go, whom stepped back with a smile on her lips.
"What the hell?!" Emerald shouted.
Raven quickly turned to look at her, "Oh, simple. I got my honeybun to promise to hatefuck Cinder on my behalf."
"We can't?!" a tearful Emerald asked.
"I have no intension to." Cinder simply stated.
"I saw the way you looked at her!" Emerald harshly stated.
Cinder gave Emerald a loving, adoring look.
"How about you?" Raven asked Emerald.
"WHAT?!" Emerald asked.
"No?" Raven asked her, and she turned to Leverette, "And what about you?"
Leverette gave her a pensive look. "You can't be serious?" Emerald asked.
"What?" Leverette asked. "We saved the world."
"Is that what happened?" Emerald asked, and Leverette shrugged.
"The best we can guess, right now. Unlike you, the stuck-up Valean princess, I actually want to enjoy myself, once in a while."

Boudica, who led an uprising against the Romans in AD 60/61, was the queen of which Celtic tribe?
The Iceni were a Celtic tribe that lived in what is now known as Norfolk and Suffolk in eastern England during the Iron Age and Roman periods. They were known for their skilled craftsmanship in metalworking and their use of chariots in battle. Under the leadership of Queen Boudica, they famously rebelled against the Roman Empire in 60-61 AD. Boudica is remembered as a symbol of resistance against the Roman Empire, who invaded her kingdom and subjected her people to cruel and oppressive treatment.
Boudica's story is one of bravery and determination in the face of adversity. After her husband's death, she was left to rule her people alone, and she was determined to protect them from the Romans at all costs. She led a rebellion against the Roman forces, gathering an army of tens of thousands of warriors and launching a fierce attack on the Roman settlements in the region.
Despite her initial successes, Boudica's rebellion was eventually crushed by the superior military tactics and firepower of the Roman army. However, her legacy lived on, and she became a symbol of resistance against oppression and tyranny. In historical texts, Boudica is also known as Boudicca, Boadicea and Boudicea.

oudica or Boudicca (/ˈbuːdɪkə, boʊˈdɪkə/, from Brythonic *boudi victory, win + *-ka having suffix, i.e. 'Victorious Woman', known in Latin chronicles as Boadicea or Boudicea, and in Welsh as Buddug (Welsh pronunciation: [bɨðɨɡ])), was a queen of the ancient British Iceni tribe, who led a failed uprising against the conquering forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60 or 61. She is considered a British national heroine and a symbol of the struggle for justice and independence.

Boudica's husband Prasutagus, with whom she had two daughters, ruled as a nominally independent ally of Rome. He left his kingdom jointly to his daughters and to the Roman emperor in his will. When he died, his will was ignored, and the kingdom was annexed and his property taken. According to the Roman historian Tacitus, Boudica was flogged and her daughters raped. The historian Cassius Dio wrote that previous imperial donations to influential Britons were confiscated and the Roman financier and philosopher Seneca called in the loans he had forced on the reluctant Britons.
In 60/61, Boudica led the Iceni and other British tribes in revolt. They destroyed Camulodunum (modern Colchester), earlier the capital of the Trinovantes, but at that time a colonia for discharged Roman soldiers. Upon hearing of the revolt, the Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paulinus hurried from the island of Mona (modern Anglesey) to Londinium, the 20-year-old commercial settlement that was the rebels' next target. Unable to defend the settlement, he evacuated and abandoned it. Boudica's army defeated a detachment of the Legio IX Hispana, and burnt both Londinium and Verulamium. In all, an estimated 70,000–80,000 Romans and Britons were killed by Boudica's followers. Suetonius, meanwhile, regrouped his forces, possibly in the West Midlands, and despite being heavily outnumbered, he decisively defeated the Britons. Boudica died, by suicide or illness, shortly afterwards. The crisis of 60/61 caused Nero to consider withdrawing all his imperial forces from Britain, but Suetonius's victory over Boudica confirmed Roman control of the province.
Interest in these events was revived in the English Renaissance and led to Boudica's fame in the Victorian era and as a cultural symbol in Britain.

Mermaid Zest Gin, Isle of Wight Distillery 40%
Mermaid Zest Gin is a new limited edition gin from the Isle of Wight Distillery. It is a zesty, fresh gin with a hint of sea air.
The Isle of Wight Distillery was founded by a winemaker and a brewer who had long thought about making a gin. Conrad Gauntlet started growing vines and making wine at Rosemary vineyard in 1985 and, with over 30 acres of vineyards, is one of the largest wine producers on the Isle of Wight. Xavier Baker has been brewing beer since 1995 and first cut his teeth at the Ventnor Brewery and, after a couple of detours in whisky (Ireland and Scotland), he eventually arrived at Goddard’s Brewery near Ryde. The pair soon met and a plan to produce Gin was conceived.
As mentioned above, Mermaid Zest Gin is a limited edition gin which was officially launched at the Junipalooza Gin Festival in June 2022. It is inspired by the lush, verdant Isle of Wight, with its seagrass beds, and and is packed with summer citrus fruits (from the walled gardens of Osborne House) and wild foraged coastal botanicals. The botanicals for Mermaid Zest Gin are steeped in a pure neutral spirit to extract all the essential oils and thus flavours and aromas. After 24 hours maceration the gin is then redistilled using the “one shot” method and distillation takes a full day in their 300 litre column still. The gin is rested for prior to bottling to allow flavours and aromas to mellow and marry together.
The botanicals in this Isle of Wight gin are:
Grapefruit Bergamot – from the gardens of Osborne House Rosemary – locally foraged from the coastal shores Cascade Hops – with citrus, floral grapefruit aromas Lemon Zest – from Osborne House Rock Samphire Elderflower – locally foraged Juniper Liquorice Orris Root Angelica Root English Coriander Boudicea Hops Grains of Paradise
Bottled at 40% ABV, it is the third gin from the distillery to come in their “Mermaid” bottle after the Blue Mermaid and Pink Mermaid (Strawberry) Gins.
