hcs for what the characters would order at a coffee shop?
A classic ask!! Love these :3
William - Black coffee or tea, but prefers the coffee. Depending on how he’s feeling, he’d get a sandwich (basic flavours) or a simple sweet treat like a shortbread or loaf cake.
Clara - Everything!! She’s a coffee shop lover. She likes to try different things, but her go-to is a latte with an almond croissant or lemon/blueberry muffin :)
Michael - He prefers soda 🥤, but he’s probably order something simple like a hot chocolate or an iced tea/refresher/fruit cooler. Would get a BLT or a simple chocolate chip cookie with it
Henry - Flat white/Americano or herbal teas, depending on how he’s feeling. He’ll always pick up a muffin or a cookie for Charlie, and he’d get himself a cinnamon bun :3
Cassidy - ICED COFFEES. She tries different flavours every time, but loves them with lots of whipped cream on top.Doesn’t really order food with it tbh.
Gabriel - Serial hot chocolate drinker, with lots of cream and marshmallows on top. Gets bullied by Fritz and Cassidy because it’s ‘childish’... But he vibes regardless. Sometimes orders iced tea, but thinks it’s not as authentic as homemade ones
Fritz - Fruit coolers/Refreshers, because ‘hEaLtH’. He’s a hater but actually really enjoys espresso’s, tiny cups and all XD (Blame his mom for being posh)
Carlton - Another hot chocolate drinker, and can be talked into drinking iced coffee. If not, he’d just have a regular black coffee with milk and sugar - He doesn’t think about it that much.
I thought it’d be cute to add the kiddies!! This isn’t a coffee shop order, more what they’d drink at a restaurant.
Elizabeth - Your average milkshake enjoyer™️ particularly cookies and cream and strawberry. Loves hot chocolate (with lots of marshmallows and cream) and can be talked into smoothies…
Charlie - SMOOTHIE LOVER. Always likes to experiment and gives it to her Daddy to try :’) TBH I always imagine Elizabeth to be the one hyped up on sugar, and Charlie the calmer one XD. Likes hot chocolate too, as well as lemonade.
Evan - Nesquik/Flavoured milk enjoyer. Likes milk a lot tbh, especially with cookies or even just on its own. I don’t imagine him liking sugar all too much, so simple fruit juices are enough for him :)

I want very badly to bake something sweet. I love baked goods so much, but I rarely bake because it takes a lot of planning to have the ingredients on hand, and then also I have to find time to do it. Usually it involves a stand mixer. I have a nice one (a Kitchenaid) but it lives in the basement and is heavy to bring upstairs and because I so rarely use it I have to wash the bowl and attachments first. My grandmother's stand mixer had a permanent place on her counter, and I will get there one day, but not in this house.
Anyway, I think of myself as someone who fails at baking more often than succeeds. That's another reason I don't bake often, because it's so disappointing to spend so much time and effort on something that doesn't turn out or is (even worse) mediocre.
But, in all fairness to me, there do seem to be times when I'm very, very good at making sweets, and usually that's when I come into a bounty of fresh local fruit and I have a crowd to bake for. The year we moved from Montgomery to Omaha (so five summers ago), we took my big kid to pick peaches and blueberries, and I made blueberry muffins, Edna Lewis's peach cobbler (best I have EVER tasted, and I've had a lot of peach cobbler), blueberry bars, and blueberry compote to eat with sliced pork loin. Two springs ago, I was in Pensacola for spring break, and we bought a flat of local strawberries. I made at least two strawberry icebox pies, strawberry muffins, and strawberry shortcake. I made a blueberry cobbler for my family when they were visiting last summer that everyone (including me! and I'm a tough critic of my own food) loved. I am desperate for a simple lemon loaf cake recipe that is easy to make, moist, and delicious. I would similarly love to once in my life make good lemon bars. If those bars also had another fruit like raspberry or blueberry I would die and go to (secular) heaven. Lately, I have been craving banana pudding, the icebox kind. Similarly, simple vanilla pound cake or iced chocolate sheet cake made by somebody's grandmother are also god-tier foods.
Other sweet things I love that I have no interest in making are fruit tarts, almond croissants, pastries of all kinds really, homemade-style cakes with real buttercream frosting (get outta here with grocery store cakes; yuck!), coffee cakes, and donuts. Sweet rolls that use yeast. Oh I would love, love, love some fresh orange rolls.
Eventually I'm going to have to learn how to use yeast without completely freaking out about it, or else I might never taste a delicious sticky sweet orange roll again.
All this ruminating is brought to you by a desperate craving I have for something sweet but no clue what to bake, plus little desire to put in the effort and time.
I don't use Tumblr collaboratively very much anymore, but if you've read this far and you have an easy (easy being key) and beloved dessert, I would love it if you left a link to the recipe in the comments.

This was the table at my birthday party the other day.
We had:
Potato and Lentil Croquettes
Falafel
Potato chips, corn chips
Dried cashews, peanuts and almonds
Cucumber + herb spread mini sandwiches
Roasted peppers + hummus mini sandwiches
Cucumber and Mango maki rolls
Lemon-blueberry loaf cake
Apple & berries crumble
Berries sangria and cold steeped tea for drinks
Everything was fully vegan (I'm not vegan, but some friends are) AND homemade! I couldn't have done it without the help of my partner. All the food was gone and it was really nice to have my friends over!

How about some recipes? I've made all these and done my own adjustments which I'll mention. Here's the post I shared with @poisonpeche of my own pictures!
That one was tricky for me because it was so sour. I stuck to the recipe mainly (I use almond milk). I didn't want to add more lemon so I did a powdered sugar and orange juice glaze and let it sit for 2 days and it was much better!
Here's where I do my own thing lol! I made muffins instead of a loaf, used acorn squash because that's what I had, and cut up a small apple into pieces and believe I added some maple syrup. Any time I can add maple it's going in! Also topped with walnut pieces. It was cousin approved!
PS I did not put this in a skillet it went right into a 8x8 baking pan and in the oven. Used about 8 plums. I don't know if I made a cobbler or crisp, but I think crisp because my topping was rolled oats and chopped pecans and not very doughy...and I added maple syrup LOL
This is my favorite! It's always requested at get togethers and we make it a team event and each take a task! I don't really measure the carrots, zucchini or apples and it's never an issue, nor do I bother peeling the apple. I use pecans or walnuts instead of almonds but I'm sure they're good too! I take out half the sugar and replace with brown sugar...and of course some maple syrup! I don't use very much orange zest, maybe half what it says.
Well that's it for Elizas jammie baking day (seriously I stay in pajamas and just bake some days) but maybe we'll do more another time?
@hauntedhousecat @nelapanela94 @m-jelly @notgoodforlife @theferricfox
Hope you guys find something you like! :)

Nimrah is back, which means I have an excuse to do a lot more baking, and I thought a nice light loaf like this would be a perfect, welcoming pick.
I made about 2/3 of this, skipping the optional macadamia nuts and using frozen blueberries, a must (in my opinion) for them to maintain their sweetness. As far as instructions go, this was a pretty straightforward baking venture — dry, wet, and then into the loaf tin we went.
From now on I really am going to have to just automatically top with tinfoil any kind of baked item with serious surface area before it goes into our oven. True to form, the top cooked far faster than the rest of the loaf did, taking I think almost an hour and a half before I felt it was finally baked enough to pull.
And after all of that, I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with this recipe. I should have known that by using almond flour, I was never quite going to get the texture I truly wanted, but this was pretty dry and not at all sweet. I definitely could have doubled the amount of honey (had it not an effect on the consistency of the batter) and would certainly recommend serving with additional honey and/or plenty of butter.
I have so many other blueberry/coconut/lemon loaves saved that I don't think I'll ever feel the need to return to this one. It was pretty unremarkable and borderline tasteless, overall a disappointment.
