So, as a birthday gift mostly to myself, I went and saw Anastasia with my mom yesterday. And there’s a couple of things I absolutely adored from the cast:

- Ben Edquist is a perfectly adorable Gleb

- The chemistry between Veronica Stern as Anya and Willem Butler as Dmitry was palpable and they stole every scene together.

- Legit, having an Anya and Dmitry who are roughly the same height was just so cute.

- Bryan Seastrom as Vlad was glorious.

- The passion Veronica brought to “In My Dreams” is something I haven’t seen with other casts.

- Amin Fuson as Tsar Nicholas and Count Ipotov -- and other background characters throughout scenes -- has a stunning voice. It was so beautiful. Hearing him sing the opening lines of “Stay, I Pray You” was jaw dropping.

- And the look he shared with Anya at the end of the song was heart breaking.

- Vlad flirting with people on the train was hilarious.

- “Land of Yesterday” brought back Thoroughly Modern Millie feels for me. I miss my fellow flappers.

- Anya and Dmitry being teasing and flirty through all of “In a Crowd of Thousands”.

- Veronica saying “I remember” with just enough tears and happiness that I wanted to cry for her.

- Dmitry being absolutely starstruck in seeing Anya in her blue dress, and Anya gesturing for him to get to his feet. Like I said, their chemistry was just so palpable.

- The entire ballet scene was beautiful.

- “Better knock on wood” *Dmitry knocks on his head*

- The gasps of the little girls a few rows in front of us at Gleb pulling out the gun on Anya was funny but also big mood .

- Anya showing off her red dress to Dmitry. *Tah-dah! Dmitry, look!* Babe was just adorable doing that. She was cute and awkward and I loved her for it.

There’s probably some stuff I’m missing, but these are what I remember. Honestly, if you can see it with the currently touring cast, do it!

I got back late at midnight watching Anastasia, and it was beautiful, and magnificent, but also spine-tingling. It may not feature Rasputin inside, but this 2022 theater is always just as valuable and popular with the honor of the 25th Anniversary to come around. Music conductor Jeremy Lyons approached the stage with moving scores in mind, to reach out the childhood of songs that came from the play. But that wasn’t the only play that led to this immaculate success. With music from Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the play has stars like Veronica Stern, Wilem Butler, Ben Edquist and more stars that made it so special I’m more happy to let hang around. Six songs from the animated Don Bluth movie have been included in the story, but with some of the different lyrics inside. Annoverato tra i più grandi pianisti mai vissuti grazie alla tecnica eccezionale, alla sensibilità e all'assoluta modernità nella rilettura e interpretazione dei classici, è ricordato soprattutto per le registrazioni di musiche di Bach, Beethoven e del repertorio pianistico del XX secolo.

Gould è noto per la sua viva immaginazione musicale e gli ascoltatori hanno sempre considerato le sue interpretazioni come qualcosa di eccezionale.

La sua interpretazione è stata caratterizzata da una grande chiarezza, con una maniacale pulizia delle note, in particolare nei passaggi di contrappunto. Gould visse in un momento in cui predominava un approccio che enfatizzava la grandiosità e in un certo senso la pesantezza delle esecuzioni di Bach, fatto che risaliva addirittura al XIX secolo, ma ancora ben presente sulla scena musicale. Ecco perché, in confronto, molti ascoltatori trovarono l'approccio di Gould come molto più leggero e gradevole, perfino rivelatorio. Lo stile di Gould ha influenzato gran parte dei successivi interpreti di Bach.

Gould aveva una tecnica formidabile che gli permetteva la scelta di tempi molto veloci, pur mantenendo le singole note chiare e fra loro ben distinte, caratteristica peculiare del suo stile. Faceva parte della sua tecnica assumere una posizione estremamente bassa rispetto allo strumento. Come evidenzia Charles Rosen, questa postura non è assolutamente indicata per chi volesse suonare alla maniera dei pianisti romantici del secolo precedente, che richiedevano in alcuni passaggi dei fortissimi molto accentuati (una posizione più alta rispetto alla tastiera permette l'applicazione di una maggiore forza da parte dell'esecutore), cosicché Gould a volte dovette falsare certi effetti nelle sue registrazioni del romantico Liszt con il ricorso all'overdubbing (sovrapposizione delle tracce audio).

Lo stile di Gould si prestò particolarmente all'interpretazione di musica scritta in origine per il clavicembalo (come quella di J.S. Bach) raggiungendo comunque risultati straordinari anche nella musica originariamente scritta per pianoforte.

Gould ricercava un'esecuzione priva di sforzo, agile e ben articolata anche nei passaggi più rapidi; per molti versi affine a quella ottenibile sulla tastiera di un clavicembalo che è intrinsecamente più leggera di quella del pianoforte.

I suoi principali obiettivi musicali erano la chiarezza del fraseggio, l'evidenza delle voci nel contrappunto e l'espressività del timbro. Le sue inusitate scelte di stile e di repertorio lo indussero sempre a ricercare, in maniera persino ossessiva, pianoforti dalla meccanica rapida e scattante, e con un suono che rispondesse il più possibile alle sfumature del suo tocco.

In questo era assecondato dai suoi accordatori e tecnici di fiducia, tra i quali Verne Edquist, ai quali chiedeva insistentemente di intervenire sulla meccanica dei pianoforti in maniera da esaltarne all'estremo la rapidità di risposta e la varietà timbrica, anche al costo di sacrificare altre qualità dello strumento, come ad esempio la potenza e la gamma dinamica.

Queste ultime caratteristiche erano invece assai care ai tipici pianisti concertisti a lui contemporanei, i quali avevano la necessità di eseguire in grandi sale da concerto (e non nell'intimità della sala da registrazione, che gradualmente diventò sempre più l'ambiente di riferimento per Glenn Gould) repertori ampiamente dedicati alle opere dei romantici (tra cui Beethoven, Chopin, e soprattutto Liszt): brani generalmente assai più percussivi ed energici rispetto ai generi che Gould prediligeva.
