The yearning starts surprisingly early, and yet, life throws stones into their way - until it doesn't and they no longer need to miss one another. -

Chapter 1: Paranoia with a side of yearning (I want to trust you but I can’t)           

 It is remarkable, really, how two people can coexist in the same spaces, for months and years, time and time again, and still end up missing one another. “Missing” in both the emotional and literal sense, even years prior to any open acknowledgement of feelings for one another. Strange things they are, those feelings. They creep up on you when you least expect it, and before you know it, you’re entirely lost in them and you’ll have to figure out how the hell to either deal with, or ignore them. And truth be told, it would be a bold, bold lie to say that Martin, or Jon, for that matter, would openly acknowledge any such thing - at least, at the time. The two of them work together, and well, yes, at this point, it’s only fair to say that they know each other - quite a bit better than anticipated, even. It probably comes with the admittedly unique situation, work-related and otherwise.

As a kid I did Judo for a while, then horse riding, unicycling, and handball

I did and, while not regularly atm, still really like to dance :) took standard&latin classes from age 14-18 and again in the last couple years, modern dance both during my bachelor's and the first years of my master's degree, and a semester of pole dance

My absolute favourite: aerial silks ♡ I've been doing it on and of since I was 11, depending on whether I could take classes or find a place for my own silks in the towns I lived - I'm still trying to find a place to practice again at the moment, but I went to classes in a studio last year and even was part of a performance in December, first time in ages :)

No :( but the neighbours' kitty likes to come over a lot, and today a different neighborhood cat came over: a young and incredibly clumsy and anxious orange cat, he's hilarious but I had to gently shoo him away because Disl (the regular visitor) probably wouldn't take kindly on an interloper and I don't want them to start throwing handspaws

When was the last time you cried? Just today earlier, I cry a lot, at least once every week (this days more often because of stress tho)

Do you have any kids? No

Do you use sarcasm a lot? I think I use it a normal amount, but maybe yes (I think is funny)

What's the first thing you notice about people? The color and texture of their hair, I have many classmates with fantasy colors so it's a little bit easier for me to recognize them than the ones with natural hair

What are the colours of your eyes? Light brown???? My mom calls them honey colored but I think they are just brown

Scary movies or happy endings? Those are two different genres, I love both

Any special talents? If this means like, skills, I can do a lot of stuff, I can fix your electric connections, if you mean like, something natural...I wouldn't know, I can bend my fingers backwards

Where were you born? Bold of you to assume I would say that on the internet

What are your hobbies? Writing fanfiction, sewing knitting and cooking, making art is not a hobby for me, that's my lifestyle right there

Do you have any pets? No, and I don't think I'm ready for one, but I want a cat

What sports do you play/have you played? I did a lot of them back in school but none stick, every time I do sports I feel self conscious

"what the hell happened with you!?!" with Joe and Nicky?

Some injuries take longer to heal - they all know that. They all know that there’s a different between a bone, broken clean across, a papercut or jumping onto an exploding grenade to protect those around them. 

But, it always takes the breath out of Nicky to see Joe lying in a bed and struggling to breath as his body slowly - too slowly for Nicky’s taste - strings itself back together. Agonizing second after agonizing second. 

Nicky had found Joe lying in the streets, shot in the head, the body and half of his left side missing, the flesh burned off by whatever weapon had been used, and he hadn’t had the heart to move until Andy and Booker had come running, Andy pulling Nicky by the arm and Booker throwing Joe’s body over his shoulders.

Joe hadn’t been breathing, and it had almost driven Nicky mad, right up until the faintest exhale had shown him that his lover, his eternal and undying love, was still here, was still alive. They die and come back, but they all know the possibility is there. It’s ever there, never leaving - they can die. They will die. Eventually. But for what it’s worth, Nicky hopes - no, prays - that when their time comes, it comes together.

So, for now, he sits by Joe’s side, watching his body healing. “What the hell happened with you?” he asks, when Joe’s eyes open, as his chest suddenly gasps for air.

Nicky is up without a second’s waste, a glass of water in his hands instantly, and cradling Joe’s head in his embrace, he helps him sit upright enough that Joe can drink. Anything to help Joe’s dry lips from being dry to long - Nicky misses their taste, misses their softness...

“Flamethrower,” Joe replies, as he swallows the cold water he’s being given, and Nicky lets him down on the bed again. “Fucking flamethrower,” Joe mutters, between two breaths, moaning in pain as some of his bones realign inside of his chest, pushing organs from side to side.

Maybe a little bit more than that, but here I go, I had to translate this to share with, but I like it

The man looks up to see the serious expression on the boy's face. The youth of his face makes him look a bit silly, but he does as he asks. Both hands bearing the cuts he made with his nails. His thoughts begin to drift toward fear. So many years had passed since he last held one of the boy's hands in his. In those days his palms still had smooth skin. After leaving, with the studies and the transformations, his skin became more and more rough. Someone's voice echoed in his head reminding him of the disgust they could cause by not being friendly to the touch. Before being able to move them away from the certain humiliation, the cold of the ghost reaches him.

"It looks like you've done a lot. That's good. If you left to learn and work, surely you achieved what you expected. I can see how hard you tried. Hi! Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I don’t write a lot of Ironhawk and I’m pleased that got such a good response.

I do have an AO3 account, under pretty much the same name, just with an underscore: mariana_oconnor. My stuff over there is mainly Winterhawk, as that’s my current main ship, with a few Stony fics and I think there’s 1 Ironhawk fic on there. I’m currently finishing up 2 events, actually, Stony Loves Steve and the Winterhawk Remix, which will be posting in the next couple of weeks, although both of them are initially going to be anonymous. But if you like either of those pairings, there should be some great fic coming out.
