Things worth remembering:
All Stede knows about Ed's breakdown is that it was because of him (You broke him/he took my leg cos I mentioned your name), He doesn't know about Ed's other trauma aside from his dad and while he knows Ed is disillusioned with pirating, he doesn't know the specifics about why.
Ed tends to speak in metaphors and while Stede tries to understand them, it's clear that sometimes he's missing the mark. Sometimes Ed isn't even sure of the metaphors himself, but once he has them, he holds onto them - the fish thing has got him especially.
And the thing is that Ed's only just learned to sit with himself in episode 5 and it's overwhelming him. At the beginning of 6, he's the stillest and quietest we've seen him and is gazing out to sea while having flashbacks to things he's done and people he's hurt (hello 1x09 callback).
And the thing is he's okay at the start of 7. He's made a decision about shedding the Blackbeard stuff. He doesn't say anything to anyone and he's ok until Jackie points out Stede is the rising star just when Ed wants out
He doesn't begrudge Stede being excited and happy with his new fame. He is afraid of what his presence has led Stede to: the conversation with Jackie is very much his "you defile beautiful things" moment, especially his presence brought Ned to Stede ("It's me you want").
He also doesn't understand why Stede killed Ned because Stede bottled up his trauma like his love letters. He doesn't even know why Stede a) became a pirate or b) went back to Mary, especially since Stede never actually told him where he'd been directly. He had to hear it from Anne - and Stede is betrayed by that as well ("I told you that in confidence")
Right now, he's feeling unmoored by his own identity and now Stede has taken a step that has fully changed him as a person too and dragged him straight back into the heart of piracy. He tells Jackie he wants out and she asks if Stede knows that and Ed's face just drops and he whispers "shit".
And he spends of the rest of the day thinking and quiet and realises that to process any of this mess, he needs to be away from the pirate world for a bit so he can get his head on straight because now it's roaring back in for him. He sits, he thinks, he realises he needs that space - he should speak to Stede but he tried that the day before and Stede still killed Ned.
Stede also lashes out, which definitely doesn't help. He's right. Ed is panicking, but Stede is also missing so many little clues. Ed never told him about dropping his leathers and Stede just sees him as Ed in other clothes. He doesn't understand the significance, even when everyone around them realises something is off. If even the Swede picks up on it, you know it's an obvious flag.
They both need to use their words and explain wtf is happening with both of them, but they are also both ridiculously traumatised by their past experience. Ed is afraid he's unlovable and now Stede is talking down his coping mechanism, so maybe he's right and Ed-as-Ed is unlovable, while Stede has been told his entire life he isn't enough, so becoming the ultimate pirate should be the win he's been looking for, only Ed isn't happy and Ed is leaving him, so maybe it's him that isn't enough after all.
They are both tangled up so much in their own histories and don't know enough about each others and that's why they keep lashing out and hurting each other so much - they each don't realise what they're saying is a different kind of weapon to the other.

i watched Enola Holmes 2 and i want more but for now enjoy this:
but for now enjoy this:
Eudoria randomly disguised as a chap exploding that mailbox, she's living chaotically and we love to see it
Tewkesbury still going strong for change and progress, we love it
not Sherlock getting thrown out of a bar drunk and Enola runs into him
him getting back up was hilarious
221 Baker Street!! gods, i miss BBC's Sherlock, with John and Mrs. Hudson, and when Greg Lestrade was a good cop compared to this one (though i know nothing of the books Lestrade so who knows all i know is i love Greg to pieces, "Not my division!")
Sherlock drunkenly shushing Enola and falling back on his couch magnificently and just being chaos
all the Holmes' are chaotic, i wonder what Mycroft thinks of his family
"Why have you moved everything?" one paper on top of another paper that wasn't supposed to be on top it
"have you considered a flatmate?" YES JOHN WATSON YES
Enola's been watching Tewkes this entire time oh honey
"Is he looking back?" girl you are NOT being subtle
MORIARTY IS TEASING SHERLOCK WITH THIS DANCE SHIT I LOVE IT AND IM SCARED
IM REWATCHING AND AS SHERLOCK IS PUTTING TOGETHER THAT IT'S A DANCE IN COMES IN MIRA TROY TALKING ABOUT THE DANCING BEING AN ACT OH MY GOD THE PARALLELS
NOT TEWKESBURY BEING MORE INTERESTED IN THE PLANT AND ITS LEAVES INSTEAD OF DANCING OR MINGLING I LOVE IT
HE SNIFFS THE LEAVES
"You're a man when I tell you you're a man" im so glad they brought that back, i loved that line
not gonna lie, i really thought that after Enola gets arrested that Tewkes was gonna bring those hidden letters she gave him to Sherlock or smth but considering they never met before and he never heard Enola speak about him in a trusting way it makes sense the only person he'd trust the papers to would be Enola so he kept them, sounds about right
also, though im happy Sherlock asks for help from Edith and im happy to see Edith again, im quite sad we didn't get a scene between him and Eudoria.
perhaps the third film will center more amongst the entire Holmes family, that'd be an interesting dynamic to see as we've seen Enola sort of against her brothers with Mycroft being the head in charge but with Eudoria in Enola's corner and Sherlock now too the dynamic will be much more enjoyable
glad that Eudoria was aware of how independent Enola has gotten, which isn't a bad thing but when one stays alone too often and doesn't ask for help, it could be their downfall and just lonely in the end. bc its exactly her mother's teaching that's caused her to avoid any sort of companionship (or more) with Tewkesbury
"You escaped jail?!" oh Tewkes you gotta get used to this chaos with Enola, come on boy
Tewkes desperately trying to declare his feelings for Enola whilst she's uncovering the entire mystery
his little groan realizing she's being Enola again with a case
HE LOVES HER
SHE LOVES HIM
THIS MOVIE IS FEEDING US SO WELL
when Enola and Sherlock start fighting only to find it's each other and the just an annoyed, "You." bahahaha, i love it, true siblings right there
i've been wanting a scene with Tewkes and Sherlock for a while now, this movie is delivering well
"The Gods is the top row of the theater. Doesn't everyone know that?" pff i love Tewkes so much, never change little lord, never change
Enola's got the highest-class significant other of her siblings and it's showing
yo, you know what would be simply divine? Tewkes and John just commenting on how the Holmes just blank out and monologue as they figure out the case
i love that for Tewkesbury, in his perspective it was that memory of Enola telling him he's not rid of her yet and that gave him the strength to punch back, we love it
Enola and Tewkes hugging each other and checking each other's injuries and, "You were made to fight," only this time it's Enola telling Tewkes and i love it and i love them
man, their kids are gonna have the weirdest names
MIRA TROY IS MORIARTY I KNEW HER NAME SOUNDED WEIRD I KNEW IT
AND I LOVE HER, SHE'S SO FUN
"Pay what you can," i love that Enola takes on cases for people that need it whilst Sherlock will just occupy himself with the hoity-toity people
i'd love to see the lower class community just come to love Enola, and Sherlock would need her help in getting them to talk bc they know Enola but they don't know Sherlock
TEWKES BROUGHT FLOWERS FOR HER AND THEY'RE GOING OUT TO WALK
Spreading Bellflowers being the flowers metaphor for Enola
"You're a nincompoop,"
"And you're a coward."
they're in love, you're honour
NOT ENOLA SETTING UP HER BROTHER WITH A HANDSOME DOCTOR FOR A FLATMATE DR. JOHN WATSON PLAYED BY HAMISH PATEL BOY I LOVED YOU IN YESTERDAY HOW DARE YOU COME BACK AND INSTALL THESE EMOTIONS IN ME I LOVE IT I LOVE ALL OF IT

just finished watchging V4 of RWBY. At the end Ruby writes aletter to Yang about hope I guess? and shiiit . Those were all the things she would have needed to hear in V9 it's a shitton, so bear with me. Copied from RWBY wiki
Ruby: (in her thoughts as she writes) Hey sis, I hope my letters have been reaching you and Dad. Hand-written stuff's never been super reliable, but I guess it's all we've got these days. Anyway, in case you haven't been getting them, I want to say I'm sorry for leaving the way I did. I know you told me it was a reckless idea, and after everything I've been through, I can definitely say you were right. It's been hard, on all of us, and I'm not just talking about the monsters we fought out here. Every step we made took us further and further from the things we knew. And every morning we woke up wondering, if just over the next hill would be something good or something terrible.  It's scary not knowing what's going to happen next. And the things we do know now—just how bad it can get—it almost makes it all worse. You told me once that bad things just happen. You were angry when you said it, and I didn't want to listen. But you were right, bad things do happen, all the time, every day. Which is why I'm out here, to do whatever I can, wherever I can, and hopefully do some good. We've all lost something, and I've seen what loss can do to people.  But if we gave up every time we lost, then we'd never be able to move forward. We'd never have a chance to see what beautiful things the future might have waiting for us. We'd never have the strength to change; whether it's ourselves, or the world around us. And we'd never be there for other people who might one day be lost without us. This is what we were training for, Yang, to become Huntresses, to be the ones to stand up and do something about all the bad in the world.
Because there are plenty of people out there who are still lost and even more who will try to gain everything they can from their sorrow.  Believe me when I say, I know it can feel impossible, like every single day is a struggle against some unstoppable monster we can never hope to beat.
But we have to try, if not for us, then for the people we've already—
Ruby stops and crosses out the last few words as she alters her statement.
Then for the people we haven't lost yet.
I miss you so much. I miss Weiss and Blake too. But I think you'd all be proud to know that I made it to Mistral. All of us did, and we even ran into Uncle Qrow along the way.

Hi ❤️✌️
May I inquire further about 'you'?
Of course you can! I think you're going to like this one (if i ever manage to finish it; we're staring down a very endless-looking barrel here help)
For those that have seen the Netflix show and are in The Know, yes it's based off that. If you haven't seen it...no big deal! I've changed things anyhow! But it's all very stalker Remus, trying to be good Remus, desperately in love (obsessed) Remus a la Joe Goldberg. And then we've got Sirius, who is perfect and flawless and can do no wrong whatsoever (lies) a la Love Quinn (you know, with the family and the money and the working for a living and the SUPER co-dependent relationship with her brother (James)). There is stalking (duh) and spying and Inner Monologues and manipulation and Murder along with Creative Body Disposal.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but for those that are interested, I cannot WAIT to share it. This is becoming my new baby (co-parented by @narcissa-black-supermacy because she said so).
"Worst decision of my life," remarks Benjy, working his crossword again, but he smiles, and Remus is forced to admit that it lightens him. For the first time, Remus feels like he's catching a small glimpse of what Sirius sees in the other man, his friend, there by his side, filled with a deeply ingrained camaraderie built from years of a forming and solidifying relationship, no matter what infatuations might stand directly behind its walls.
Sirius huffs out a laugh. "And if I ever believe that, I'll eat my right foot. I'll even carve your name into it."
"Oh, well," murmurs Benjy, eyes flickering up to Sirius, "I was going to say that's going overboard, but if you're going to brand me with your name, by all means."
And just like that, so instantly it twists his stomach, Remus is restraining himself from ripping Benjy's lips from his mouth as it spreads into a leading smirk. Sourness bubbles inside of him as Sirius continues talking, not acknowledging the expression on his friend's face, Remus no longer hearing his words.
You'd like that, wouldn't you? Having him branded into your skin, or better yet, you branded into him so that everyone will know he's yours. You're just sick enough to do it, too. You'd look down your nose at anyone else who even thought of doing such a thing, but you'd carve those letters into his flesh, tattoo him in the empty spaces he still has, but I won't let you. He's mine, Fenwick, and he's perfect as he is. I wouldn't need the proof of claim to know that, and I'd never worry about anyone else taking him from me. He'll never want to leave me, whereas you'd bore him to tears in no less than three hours.
"…and Reg was always adamant about it, no matter how well he convinced everyone else to the contrary, so I count that as a win in the book of Black." Sirius is still speaking, jostling Remus from his thoughts as he shifts in his chair, gaze sliding over Remus, his mouth quirking upwards. "You just did it again," he announces. "What is that, the drifting? You're like James. He's got focus problems, too, but his is a bit different. He doesn't tune out; just jumps when you're not expecting it. Bit jarring until you get used to it."
Oh, great. Potter again. So much for escaping him, but at least he's apparently missing lunch this afternoon. It's better than nothing, and I'll take what I can get.

Here we go again Folks and today I'll be dissecting the popular topic of "Ruby isn't affected by anything across the volumes"
-I'm gonna be honest and say this claim is pretty much BS
Tumblr media
Volume 3
- Ruby falling to the ground in sadness after seeing Penny's Dismantled Body
> Was mortified by Pyrrha's Death at the hands of Cinder
Volume 4
In the DC Comics(which take place during the events of Vol 3-4)
Ruby showcases alot of uneasiness and self doubt
▪︎I.E being worried about how Yang felt back at the end of Volume 3
▪︎Believing that she herself can't go on without her team backing her up
▪︎Questioning if she can truly make the right choice
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"No One is truly alone".
"What you can do and Who you are-- These are Two very different things".
"No Person is Lesser for Being Alone,
You miss them but You aren't incomplete without them"
"They may bring Forth the Best in You
But the Best still Belongs to You".
- Episode 2 - Ruby is shown having Nightmares about the events of Volume 3
Vol 5
-After the battle with Tyrian, Ruby was upset that she indirectly got her uncle poisoned as well as not being so welcoming about team JNR joining her as the Problems got increasingly worses
"I should've never brought you guys into this"
Tumblr media
But the Most powerful scene in this Volume for Ruby is her talk with Oscar
Where she tells him that how distraught she felt about Pyrrha's and Penny's Deaths & wished she could've gotten to know them better
Proclaiming that if she were have died, Pyrrha and Penny would try to keep fighting no matter the obstacle
As she then says that moving forward is what she has to do in order to protect who she cherishes left
Which parallels Issue #6 of the Comics
"Even When it's Hard---
--Just Live".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which leads to the 2nd Strongest scene for Volume 5 Ruby
Tumblr media
The Letter Scene
"Believe me when I say I know it can feel impossible. Like every single day is a struggle against some unstoppable monster we can never hope to beat. But we have to try…"
As Ruby is writing a letter to Yang about how although the World may seem bleak and while things may be painful in the long run, With the right people working together for a good cause can make an extraordinary change no matter how small it seems at first
Also Ruby LITERALLY TEARS UP DURING THIS SCENE
The Silver Eyes Activated after Ruby had a PTSD flashback of Pyrrha's Death when Jaune was going to clash with Cinder in the battle of Haven
■ Ruby was seen shocked by Weiss's fatal injury from Cinder's Spear strike
Volume 6
■ Felt a little Betrayed by Ozpin's Secret after Jinn revealed the Truth
■ Her Silver Eyes Activated When Blake was almost at death's door against the Apathy
■ Confronted Qrow about his lack of willingness to keep moving forward during "Lost" & "Stealing from the Elderly" Episode
Wanting him to view Team RJNR as people who can fight alongside him instead of just being a bunch of children who needs to be protected
"Just because you don't have an idea, doesn't mean we're out of options! Oz hasn't been here to tell us what to do, but we still managed to get this far anyway. We've been in bad situations before, and we don't need an adult to come save us or tell us what to do. We just did it our way! And I say we do it our way. And if you think you can keep up with us "kids"... we'd be happy to have you"
"We're all in this together, and we're all going to do the best we can. That's all anyone can do. And I know it's what you've always aimed for. We would've come whether or not you'd let us, so stop talking like we're your responsibility! We're not! But we could still use Qrow Branwen on our side"
Volume 7-8
■ Immediately felt guilty about lying to Ironwood about the Other stuff that happen with Ozpin
■ During Her Talk with Qrow, She even questions if she even knows what she has been doing was the correct decision
■ Ruby pleads Harriet in the "Ace Ops vs Team Rwby" to stand down and join her team in saving the citizens
■ Stood in Confusion and shock after witnessing a Silver Eyed Grimm Hybrid
■ in Volume 8 Finale,
Ruby is seen shedding a tear during her fight with Neo(Supposedly as a result of Yang's death)
---> in the Vol 9 sneak peek it showcases Ruby's POV where she was having constant anxiety attacks throughout the fight against Cinder
And in the Volume 9 Chapter 1 Sneak Peek Clip
Ruby breaks down and Cries to herself reflecting upon the events that have transpired
So Yeah I think this pretty much sums up how much these events have had an Impact on Ruby's emotions
(She ain't just Happy all the time and Ignores all the tragedy, if anything she tries using it as a Coping Mechanism of some sort in order to move forward & keep her mind away from the Darkness)
Hope yall Enjoy

Ok, it feels like they didn't really put much thought into Halsin's romance ending. (Spoilers ahead.)
Mine went like this:
He said he was going to go raise orphans in Thaniel's land and wanted me to visit. But he didn't phrase it in a way that was like, "Would you like to come with me and live there too?" So I chose the option that was like, "If it's meant to be, our paths will cross."
Then the narrator said I left the city after a tenday and I guess went to live with Halsin? Because there was something about making a sanctuary, and Halsin showed up with a letter in his mouth after patrol one day.
Then I get to the epilogue, and the convos still had options to be like, "Yes I'm so happy with the love of my life and all the time we've been spending together!"
But then I talked to Halsin, and he was like, "I haven't seen you in so long! I've missed you!" And I was all, "Tell me what it's like over there! I want to come visit!"
None of it makes any sense when you put it together. Inconsistent. Why didn't they just have Halsin invite you to go and stay with him when he left? And then have the dialogue at the party with him be about your time together, instead of the whole, "We haven't seen each other in so long," thing? Or make everything match up with the ending where you haven't been together? Why didn't they just pick one?
(Note: This is Patch 5, so not sure if anything changed in Patch 6 since I haven't updated yet.)

Why i'll always ship Byler;
In spite of risking being told i'm extremely selfish for what i am about to say, i'm gonna say it.
The main reason i ship Byler, a reason that changed through the years because the story has been developing, is Will's unconditional and selfless love for Mike.
And it's not an 'i ship them because i feel bad for Will' it's an 'i ship Byler because Will is willing to break his own heart for Mike and also, Mike really deserves to be loved that fiercely'.
This is where i think people might think i'm being selfish, because, what about Mike's feelings? what about El's feelings? A couple is not just about one of the people in it feelings. And please believe me i know that, i've been there myself, being on a relationship just because the other person wanted me when i really didn't.
But the truth is, look at the three of them and tell me to my face the relationship and communication between El and Mike goes as deep as the one Mike and Will have. Please, tell me so and convince that that El will be as heartbroken as Will was in s4 while trying to fix Mike and El's relationship.
I've been thinking a lot about the fight at Rink-O-Mania only to understand that Will really wanted to see Mike, he even made the painting for him, he has been in love with Mike all the time he's been in Lenora, while his heart kept breaking everytime he didn't get a phonecall or a letter from Mike while El did.
Will still went all his way out with his painting and his happy face to the airport just to be met with awkwardness and a cold shoulder pat from the boy he's in love with.
There's no time nor way to bring a different love interest for Will at this point, he is just not gonna get over Mike, probably ever. Which means we'll never see him heal from a rejection if it was to happen in s5.
Are they really gonna end an *actually * uplifting show about friendship, unconditional love and being different being a good thing on such a sad note?
Could happen, but it would break my heart if it was the outcome of everything we've seen on Stranger Things.
It's obvious that two of the characters that suffered the most on this story are El and Will, there's no way around it. And you could ask, why should Will get the happy ending with the boy he loves but not El?
And to that i really want to ask you, can't she get a happy ending without Mike? Because so far she seems pretty miserable while being with him.
And that's super important to me.
El is being miserable when she is with Mike, while Will is being miserable when he feels he can't have Mike.
Sure, Mike is his own character and there''s a lot to say about him, so let's look at him for a minute. Which relationship looks more fullfilling for Mike at this point in the story? He is boy with a severe case of low self-esteem and feeling inadequate.
Look at him at the beginning of s4, while you see Dustin going to look for Lucas's replacement for the dnd session, he goes to the people he knows. He asks Steve, Max and ultimatively he comes up with the idea of asking Erica.
Mike is seen looking for his sister first, who says no and it makes sense, because even though she was nice years ago to the boys dressing up as an elf for a campaign, now he has to look outside, talking to people he probably doesn't even know, because since the Byers and El left Hawkins, it has not been the same, and yes, there's Lucas, Max and Dustin, but it's not the same for him. Mike lost something when the Byers left Hawkins, something he's gonna bring home by the end of s4.
I'm obviously talking about William.
He said he was gonna get Will home, and that's something he has always done. He was able to find El in Mirkwood, the one person who could help them find Will when he went missing. He was on the shed telling the most heart wrenching story of how important was the day he met Will for him and managed to help getting through Will's possession, hence finding a way to bring Will home again.
The one time Mike didn't manage to bring Will back; "Will, come on, you can't leave, it's raining" everything went downhill and it ended with the Byers and El leaving Hawkins.
But once again, when everything went to shit in Hawkins and they needed El and Will back, Mike was already in Lenora and it ended on all of them, once again, getting back home to Hawkins.
But what is home? Is it Hawkins? Is it Mike's basement?
As Mike himself says, he feels he lost Will and now Hawkins is not the same. Maybe Hawkins doesn't feel like home the way it did before. Maybe "home" is not the same without Will in it.
Or maybe that one phrase saying "home is where the heart is" is right and says a lot about Mike's feelings.

Dear Lady Yagokoro,
I know it's been a long time since we've talked! Everything has been pretty wild since I left the Moon, and I'm sure you've been having an interesting time of it as well. Things are so loud and exciting here! There's new things to learn and see every day. I've been trying to see as many new things as I can, but it's been a bit hard. It's been so fun!
I've also been (gag) making some Earth friends. (That's a joke, the gagging part. They're actually really neat. Trust me.) I wish you could meet them, I think they'd have some interesting things to say, especially about you. The Capital always talked about attachments to Earthlings and impurity would be something that would cause the ruin of us all, but. It's not too bad, really. I wish I had learnt this earlier. It would've been great.
Have you seen Sister recently? I don't know if she's made it to Earth yet, but if she has it would be great if you could tell me. I kinda miss her, you know? It would be nice to see her again. I know she'd be kinda meany and grumpy about living on Earth, I know she's not really a great fan of the Earthlings, but. I wasn't either when I first got here, so I think she'll notice how cool it is here eventually. I know that I did, so I think there's hope for her yet.
Hope I can see you soon!
As always, your faithful student, ▚▜ (But the Earthlings call me Peaches!)
P.S: I'm happy for you and the Princess! I hope you two are doing well together!
To my cherished student and Pr-
Forgive me. If the 'Earthlings' call you such, then perhaps it would be remiss of me to not also categorise myself as one.
Dear Peaches, Has it truly been so long? For an eternity is barely a blink of an eye but…yet, in some way, the Earth truly dilates one's eyes to a clock that is so slowed yet so full of wonder. Perhaps in the way that the moonlight causes it's own affliction of lunacy, so too the Earth- though I wouldn't call such thing 'impurity'.
Tumblr media
Yes, there's much merriment to be had. I myself find myself studying horticulture, the Earth feels so much more familiar but so much more vast when I can need only glance outside to find and discover a new herb or plant, or one that I've become acquainted with. Tewi has requested I try to cultivate a golden apple tree- apparently some likened them to peaches, but I feel her reasoning is far more…down-to-earth shall we say.
I'm delighted you've made some friends upon Earth, I know isolation, especially with the vast distance in brainwaves between Lunarians can be a challenge… The moon…it's desolate, powerful, perfect. But here- it's a whirlwind of creation. Different ideas, people, scientific reactions, drinks, foods- even if Gensokyou is a slice of what was forgotten…I do truly wonder what the Outside World is like. Impurity was always framed as 'sin', but perhaps it was change.
There's a patron that visits me, a celestial. She's rather fond of peaches (the fruit) themselves. She doesn't have any ailments, if anything- she purchases poisons or spices that intentionally make her feel pain. That the life she lived in Heaven, with nothing but endless 'joy', was it's own form of a boring, insufferable Hell. Perhaps you'll meet her soon.
Tumblr media
As for Yorihime…I'm not too sure myself. Though, there has been a recent incident where powers have been duplicated, and it's caused quite a bit of upset among some Gods…fufu, I can only imagine how any Lunarian would react if they found out their untouchable power was mocked and commercialised, though I couldn't help but think of her relationship to the Gods. I would entice her but…let's just say the envelopes I float to the mood get torn asunder before they can reach it's surface. But I have hope for her. After all…with enough time in the equation, a nigh impossibility…becomes a certainty. All I can do is hope that her time entwines itself with yours and mine.
Tumblr media
Thank you for such a wonderful letter, and please do stop by anytime. Kaguya, Reisen and the Earth's rabbits would be delighted to see you again.
Sincerest Regards, Eirin Yagokoro

IT'S REPACKAGED IN THE ENVELOPE NAT'S LETTER WAS SENT IN, WITH MOTH'S ADDRESS SCRIBBLED OUT AND REPLACED WITH NAT'S. The Walking Dead: Rest in Peace (11x24)
So... this finale suffered majorly for one big reason: the spinoffs next year. Let's just dive right in, shall we?
Cons:
Think about it. If this had been a true finale, if this had been the end of the universe of this TV show, we would have gotten so much content that the fans have been waiting to see. Instead, it's all teased out for us, trying to force us to tune in next year to see more Negan and Maggie, Rick and Michonne, Daryl... it's too damn much, y'all. I won't list all the missed moments, but if these spin-offs didn't exist, we definitely would have gotten Rick and Michonne reuniting with their daughter and son, right? A thing I think we've all damn well earned seeing? And if Daryl wasn't going off on his own without Carol, maybe they could have resolved that relationship in a way that would have made the fans happy to see. This is a finale. I want to feel big emotions, I want full cheesiness turned all the way up to eleven. I cannot believe that they had Rick and Michonne show up at the end in the form of letter writing, still not reunited, and we got no catharsis on any possible Rick reunion. With Michonne, with Judith, withDaryl? That man lived in the woods for half a decade being sad about Rick's death. I wanted to see them reunite, for fuck's sake.
But even setting aside the things I really wish we could have seen that just weren't there, there were moments that should have packed a much bigger punch, but were instead glossed over. The biggest one? Judith, in a moment of delirium when she believes she might die, tells Daryl that Michonne left to go find Rick, who they believe to be alive. I had sort of forgotten that Daryl didn't know this information, but it makes sense: Judith says she never told Daryl because she didn't want him to leave too. This should have been ahuge moment. Daryl's love for Rick and his family is a cornerstone of his character; the revelation that Rick is still alive should have been earth-shattering for him. And, honestly, if they're going with all these spin-offs anyway, that should have been the impetus for Daryl to leave, not some vague idea Maggie has about wanting to find out what's out there.
And just, in general, this episode didn't have the epic-ness that one would typically associate with a finale of a show that's been on for eleven seasons. What are people going to be talking about in the aftermath of this? There was one big main character death, and it was well executed which I'll talk about in a second, but other than that it was all very low energy, nothing big, no huge status quo shifts in the way we understand this universe. Okay, so we defeated Pamela, great. What proof do we have that another group of baddies isn't just going to come out of nowhere and be evil nearby, leading to more chaos for our surviving characters? The problem with the spinoffs is that nothingcan change in any sort of permanent way, because, gosh, what if we want to bring Lydia back for a cameo on one of the five other shows we're making? What if we want to do a story about Alexandria being in peril again and Rick and Michonne showing up to save it? What if Eugene and Max go on a trip to New York and pop up in this other series? This episode didn't feel like a finale, it felt like instructions to tune in for more of the show next year.
Which, to be clear? I will not be doing!
Pros:
So yeah, this wasn't really the magical strong finish that fixed all of my problems with late-stageThe Walking Dead. I'm not sure how it could have been, but still. That said, I'm honestly an easily manipulated person when it comes to sentimentality on TV shows, so I did get misty-eyed at a few points in this finale, especially with the really cheesy stuff like Rick and Michonne writing letters to their child and reminiscing about all the people they've known over the years, dead and alive. We see a montage of faces, and while hilariously a few of them I couldn't even remember, it was nice to see people like Beth, and Sasha, and of course Glenn and Carl, Lori and Shane... Hershel... the list goes on. The idea of ending the show with the characters enforcing that they are the ones who live, and they will continue to strive for that life, was a good moving capstone, and as close as I got to feeling like this show was a true finale to anything.
I have all the feels about Judith, honestly, and I loved seeing Daryl and Carol working to save her life, fretting over her. She really is a daughter to them both in so many ways, and honestly the moment with Daryl in this episode that got me the most was when he hugged Judith goodbye and asked her to look after Carol for him. They have such a special bond, it makes me a little weepy.
Daryl and Carol's goodbye felt a little tacked on, especially Carol saying "this will be good for us", because obviously we know Carol was originally supposed to be part of Daryl's spin-off but no longer is, and yet they didn't really replace her leaving with Daryl with any reason as towhy. Just a vague sense of her helping out with the home communities, replacing Hornsby, I guess. It didn't feel like a very satisfying wrap-up for either character, but Carol especially got the short end of the stick, as she has so often these last few seasons. Oh, but wait, I'm in the "pros" section, aren't I? Setting all that aside, these two have such a special, gorgeous relationship, and getting to see their goodbye, the "I love you"s and the hug, did warm my heart, even if I could have wished for something a bit more.
A few details I enjoyed: Ezekiel and Mercer being the new governor and deputy governor of the Commonwealth. That's fitting! Eugene and Max having a baby named Rosie (this is so damn cheesy but you know what it made me wanna cry so I'm going to let them get away with it). Yumiko and Magna getting to have a kiss, reuniting. Sure, yeah, I'm into it. Negan sending Judith the compass.
Oh and speaking of Negan, you couldn't pay me to watch the show with Negan and Maggie next year, BUT, I did like that Maggie told Negan about Glenn, and basically said "I can't forgive you, and being around you makes me remember him in his final moments of agony, which I don't want to do." It was a powerful scene and the first thing from Maggie since her return that's made me feel connected to her.
Let's talk about the deaths, shall we? I was surprised to find myself really emotionally affected by Luke's death, not because I give a shit about Luke as a character, but because of the way his friends tried desperately to save him, crying and screaming, and then all broke down sobbing as they had their final moments together. Watching that scene, the pain and desperation of it, there were just a lot of really good performances happening there. It made me realize how often the deaths in this show were either really sudden for shock value, or else drawn out, slow, and somber, with grieving characters clearly upset but also restrained and in control. This was true wild, panicked, grief, and it really made me feel the chaos and pain of the situation, while keeping me focused on the true issue of the moment, which was making sure Judith was going to be okay.
And then there's Rosita. I'm not sure I've ever cared about Rosita quite as much as I did in this episode. It was a strong way for her character to go out, and again, one of the only pieces of the episode that made it feel like an epic finale to me. I loved the fake-out, I gotta say, where she falls and you think she's getting ripped to pieces, but then you see her spring up and fight like a total bad-ass and get out of an impossible situation. And then later, looking at Coco, who she's rescued at long last, we have Eugene come in, and as he's starting to discuss future plans, it slowly dawns on him all that Rosita is not saying. She was bitten, and it's not something they're going to be able to fix.
There was just a lot of good delicious angst here. I've never bought Gabriel and Rosita as a romantic pairing, but I found his grief and gentleness really moving. Judith's facial wobble when she realized Rosita was dying... man, this show has some really hit-or-miss writing sometimes but I honestly think on the level of acting, the girl who plays Judith does an incredible job. It was so moving to see Rosita getting to have these final moments with people, enjoying a dinner with them all even as she knows the end is near. I mean, yeah, it's cheesy, but as I've been saying, this is a finale. Iwant the cheese. Pile it the fuck on, don't hold back. Rosita's death, and specifically her final moment with Eugene, really, really got to me in a way nothing else in this episode did.
So... yeah, I think I'm going to wrap up my thoughts on the finale there! Seeing Rick and Michonne was kind of cool, but it was also a little insulting, basically a trailer for their spinoff show playing at the end of this one. And a lot of this final season has felt like the writers were more excited about their fresh new ideas for new shows, rather than this lumbering, undead behemoth of the show that stayed on the air long past its prime. And that's a bummer, it really is. Still, props for making me get all emo about Rosita dying. Never thought I would have cared much one way or another.
7/10
So now comes the impossible task of trying to sum up all ofThe Walking Dead in a single rating out of ten. I can't grade this based on my favorite season or least favorite season or any of that, I have to try and find something that I think is representative of the whole. Here's what I'll say: this show shook up something in TV. It's part of that whole Golden Age thing everyone always talks about. The Walking Dead was enshrined for a time along withBreaking Bad andGame of Thrones as THE event TV that everyone was watching and talking about. And whileBreaking Bad maintained its sanctity by bowing out after five seasons, and whileGame of Thrones majorly and famously threw itself into a dumpster at the end, I think we have something a lot more muddled here. I certainly don't care enough to watch the spinoffs, but I do care enough that I know I'll poke around to find out what happens to certain favorite characters of mine after the show ends. I don't think this is a final season or finale episode that retroactively ruins anything about what was once great on the show, so it has that going for it. What I'll always remember about this show is the characters who stuck with me: Daryl Dixon is my number one, but Carol too, Michonne, and even later-season characters like Judith and Connie made a surprisingly strong impression on me. I think overall this show deserves a lot of praise for what it was at its best, but I also can't ignore the fact that it's been far less than its best for quite a long time.
7.5/10

ok, well, it's very easy to shut down anything if we're going by 'well, we don't know what would have happened had x or y lived'. if you're using that as an argument, the HCs and VQs are entitled to their silly logic too. and their silly logic is easily debunked by facts. and what are the facts we have to prove billy was willing to change? he sacrificed himself and asked for forgiveness. he had a bunch of holes pierced into his body and he only had time to apologize to max. but it was enough for her to write letters for him and miss him, which means yeah, we don't know what he would have done but given what we've seen, he probably would've tried to change. listen, i'm talking about something i've personally experienced. as a queer person, i have had a lot of people who were homophobes apologize and try to do better. it doesn't erase what they did to me but it does make me feel like things can get better. slowly but surely, some people DO turn around and see how wrong they were about something. homophobia is also a very rooted and difficult problem, as well as, say, religious people who grew up thinking everyone who didn't follow the word of god would burn in hell and now they no longer think like that bu struggle with religious guilt. racism is a problem and a racist is not a good person. but if said racist is trying to change for the better, then why stop it? why marginalize it? isn't that a good thing, that someone is trying to learn? and my point was mostly about calling billy fans racist too. that is so messed up and so wrong. it's like i said, my favorite character in this whole fucking world is michael myers. am i a killer too by default? do i want to harm people for the sake of it? i think it's time we all learn that liking messed up, evil characters don't mean you condone their actions nor that you're like them. so many people scaring amazing artists and writers away because of this, it needs to change.
Yeah max also said that billy deserved to die 😭😭😭I agree with calling his fans racists being too much but billy didn't said sorry to Lucas before dying and probably wouldn't even change if it wasn't for the mindflyer possession so, I stand by my thought.

Dear future me
Send me one "Dear---" and I'll write a letter to this person
Tumblr media
"Future me, huh?"
Wasn't that an interesting one? What would she even be like, in the future? How far into the future? Five, no ten years? She's never been one for outrageous ambitions--always felt like the next day should come as it does. No real plans, no nothin'. Let the flow come to you.
...
Maybe a year would be nice. Or two--yeah, lets do two years.
That's not too far off. A lot can change in two years. She should be married by then, right? She'd be in her own happily ever after.
Tapped the pen onto paper. She wouldn't try to write properly to start out with this time. No reason to--who the hell's gonna see it, anyway?
dear +2 yrs carol
suuuuuuup dude. its the coolest cat from way back here to check in on how youre doin. must be livin pretty, right? must be in like a super cool mansion with sony and must be swimmin in gold gems all day LOL. invite me sometime yo! id love to swim in all that cash~
okay but seriously, how are things? incase you dont remember writin this bravo sierra then here's a little reminder. this is before we say anythin to sony, just got done talkin to tangle. you still keep up with her, right? damn i hope you do, she's probably the coolest girl we've met on these dumb gemerald travels, besides asagi.
...
Shit, that wasn't a name she thought about in a while. Still trying to figure out the gem back then. She swore she got... something out of it, it got more consistent at one point. Consistent enough that she could visit people like Asagi all the time.
Then, she lost the mojo, somehow. Felt like it shifted. She could use it for short distances, but what was the point if she could just use her bike instead? Hell, now she can't even do that anymore.
But, the recent developments seemed hopefuly, at least. If she really could use it like this, to hop between her friends like a ping-pong ball then...
It made her want to train with it more. It made her happy. She could see her friends, for real this time.
...She'd really hope she'd keep up with them all. And... she would, right? She's seen so many people come and go...
speakin of, you keep up with everyone else, too? jet, bapho, dan--that weird bird girl seemed interestin', too. iunt remember her name if she told me. just has some weird marital probs. lmao cant say we cant relate right?
well. YOU probably cant. everythin must be perfect with him now. shit i bet you guys are thinkin of kids too right? i really hope not i dont wanna deal with kids theyre AWFUL. please future c. im beggin you dont get kids DONT GET KIDS
sony's okay too, right? we treatin' em better? no more drama bullshit right?
and lilac! hows she??? did she ever come back??? like she totally did right shes chillin with me and sony again
...
She scribbled out the last line.
she totally did right shes prolly like a world famous runner right. i bet theyd have to ban her from all of the competitions LOL. LIKE I BET SHE'D ENTER AND THE GUARDS OR WHATEVER WOULD BE LIKE ''LMAO SORRY DRAGON GIRL YOURE TOO FAST''
She snickered. Why did it feel like she wanted to tear up? That didn't make sense.
anyway keep up the good work, me! becareful tho we're in for another world invasion if timing suits us right lmaaaao.
Paused for a moment.
Nobody would ever see this, right?
so how did talking to lilac go. she put us down hard didnt she, right? like how i figured. for as much as i wanna call her flaming id never do it to her face. we're sisters to her. she'd never see us in that kind of light.
this isnt a bad thing or anything lmao i
...
Nobody would ever see this.
She scribbled out the last line.
it hurt, right? thats what im expecting it to feel like. she'll comfort us or whatever but there's gonna be some sort of painful closure we get outta that. she's always there for us, she'd help us through this too. i can say that for sure because i know how this girl is. always helping other people. little miss heropants
A somber smile formed.
itll be nice to get that closure, though. im excited for it. especially after everything that happened so far. finally be at peace with the whole thing, keep her as our bestie, then focus solely on sonar. thats the best case scenario here.
regret not saying anything sooner, about all of this. i know i gotta keep with my ''everythin happens for a reason'' motto but damn it i fuckin hate havin regrets. like if i told lilac sooner she couldve rejected me sooner and i wouldnt have these will they wont they feelings about it all.
sure, whatever, i love her. i admit it tenfold now. but i KNOW in my heart that i love sony more. if i gave up ''my boy'' like that i think id ki--
Scribble.
id be fucked up about it for a long ass time. worst mistake of my life
swhy i want them both, on some level. and like i CAN have them both i just gotta keep lilac as my friend and sonar as my husband.
but the
She paused. What the hell was the word for it? Big long fancy word. Started with a D...
Whatever, she'll think of it later.
but the [FANCY D WORD] is whats important right. i gotta keep my head in the game and keep em that way. and thatll be easier when i get over lilac, shit i bet its easy as hell for you right now right
yeah ofc it is youve already been through it all. i envy you, carol. youre way cooler than me and i can only hope to get there someday. and i guess i will but the fact that im still choking on it makes it hard.
everythin with sony's gonna go fine. im only a little worried about that now. and lilacs just gonna say she's always been straight and that'll be that. easy.
bet it wasnt easy though. bet it was still anxiety inducing talking to either one of them. sonar's not gonna hate me for it, i cant imagine he would.
but id be lying if i said i wasnt scared of his reaction. tangle said itd be okay. so i think itll be okay. but honestly i dont realy know for sure.
the uncertainty is killin me. but my due date for the assignment's coming up and i cant procrastinate until the final second. ive already done that too much.
shit carol idk what this letter is anymore. im sure youll look at this in the future and crumble it up into a ball becaue its so cringe. but
shit idk.
hope its okay out there in the future. if one of my friends ive met now aint here with me by then then ill
ill
i dont know what ill do.
fuck.
take care, your's truly
carol tea
. . .
Tumblr media
She sighed. She'll actually fold this letter up, then walk over to the closet and put it in her hoodie pocket. She'll have a better hiding place for it later. But for now.
It'll stay there.

The Bat-Man Recap #7, Part 2
In Part 1, I talked about the origins of Batman where his parents die in a mugging. Something that could be fall anyone.
Now for a Death Ray.
Tumblr media
Of course, Bruce Wayne is there to help and to save the day...next time.
Tumblr media
We also get a glimpse of the "Batcave" and the Batmobile has had silver things added to it. Neither of these have been referred to as this and the Batcave is just a secret lab but exciting times. Don't worry the costume is still a chest.
I guess this is the first comic to imply Batman has a brain. He's a scientist now. The last comic did not give that vibe. He seemed to solving crimes by vibes alone. Okay, that's too harsh, last issue had no thoughts, head emptiness to it. We love a himbo. Not so much when he's kidnapping random women.
Tumblr media
One of those silver things is probably a bat as a head ornament. If you think that's too much, wait till you see what's he done to the Batplane.
I don't why I haven't mentioned this yet that the ropes Bruce is using are Silk Ropes.
Tumblr media
This is still a terrible method of spying. Very bad on the joins.
Our bad guy is, Karl/Carl Kruger whose name changes spelling. It's possible two people lettered this comic and it wasn't properly credited but Bob Kane could have just forgotten the spelling that was being used.
He thinks he Napoleon so I guess it doesn't matter. This is first villain whose clearly mentally ill. Before we've had some, who are probably mentally ill. Reminds me that guy who thinks he's Zeus. Could be connected, but their names are different.
A problem with these early comics, that often feels like that they are panels missing. Sometimes they feel like they've been rushed out of the draft stage. It could be that it's an early medium still and the balances haven't been worked out. A lot is implied or left in the imagination of the reader, even in modern comics. Sometimes it's not clear exactly how Batman ended up tied up. They were probably given a number of pages to fill Vs now where Batman has a full issue to tell a story. These are stories are getting longer and Batman will soon get a full comic book to himself.
Now we've had that seriously moments, look what he's done to the Batplane.
Tumblr media
It has a Bat face. It's possible that's always been there but it's the first time it's clearly seen. Now that does make it stand out a lot, that's definitely Batman. Part of his deal is spying and tailing people, so how does he disguises that?
Tumblr media
I've talked about the limitation of early comics, you should give them the benefit of doubt, but I think it's funner to imagine that's the only cloud in the sky. Just an alarming black cloud, that makes it look like something is on fire.
Now that groofness is over. Let's talk about Batman's killing spree.
Tumblr media
These men are mass killers and they plan to do it again. He was blowing up their death ray. They have tried to kill Batman twice by the end of the comic. He get's shot again, we see him shirtless again. But he wears a bulletproof vest that still makes him bleed. Probably so can have this fake out.
Tumblr media
Yay, first fake death. Does it count as murder if you left them to be killed by the bad guy who was gonna kill you and you put him in your costume? This is the first time when a Batsuit is fully destroyed, also.
Tumblr media
Second Fake Death. Goodbye, Batplane.
Tumblr media
Batman does get his third confirmed kill. Comics have always been weird when it comes to Death, unless you see a body, they could come back, so he has probably killed more people that weren't confirmed (and we're not including supernational creatures into this count). He also might have choked a guy to death with a rope but it was also a fire that definitely off him. He's brewed up or destroyed things where people would have definitely been causalities. That blimp blowing up above a city would realistically hurt "innocent lives". We could argue that morally it's fine because they are "villains" who would have killed more people. In this one, he only kills/explodes people who were part of a murder cult.
All this killing is only notable because of how anti-killing Batman becomes. This is just what was the norm for this time is. It's very similar to other media's morality. Batman was inspired from a lot of pulp novels. This is a month after WW2 started, it could have even been written before the War started and the USA won't be touched for a while.
Now, we know that killing someone even in the line of duty would take an emotional toll on someone. It's not as glamorised. It's disturbing that Bruce is smoking a pipe while listening about how they dragged a body out of the plane he crashed like it's nothing. A modern Batman would have tried to drag him out of the plane and it would be a failure that he didn't get him out.
It would be interesting to rewrite these stories with modern Batman's morals, at the same time. A few Elseworld stories, do retell these stories but different time periods (the 1980s, Gotham by Gaslight is clearly inspired by this issue specifically).
I'm reading too deep into this. This is actually the level of gunning down a police helicopter in Grand Theft Auto. It's not an actual person, it's not even a character you're meant to connect to on a deeper level than an obstacle for Batman to overcome to save the day.
Join us next time where apparently we're going back to Paris.

The Moonchase Festival looked so beautiful in the distant afternoon glow. It was splendid and hot, so hot out here. At least it was better to be hot in this smoldering heat than to be subjected to the harsh cold of Snezhnaya, where you were originally from.
“[Y/N], you’ve came! I’m so happy!” Xiangling’s excited voice rang in your ears, making you pick her up with your eyes. A beaming smile crossed both of your lips -- she was a good friend as much as she was a competitor, and you believed you'd have plenty of fun competing against her. Unbeknownst to you both, your exchange caught the eye of a certain Harbinger who loosely hung out in the crowd, for reasons unknown to everyone. "Yeah, I have!" You continued your happy little exchange with XIangling, "I couldn't miss the opportunity to come and try to beat you! And try your amazing food, of course,"
"You flatter me, hehe," Xiangling bashfully placed her hands in her lap while tilting her head to the side, as one of her many shy mechanisms you'd come to be familiar with. "Well, I should really get to setting up my table," you told her, as you turned on your heel.
For a moment, you thought you could see a glint of red hair in the crowd. . . but as you tried to zero in on the person, they no longer seemed to exist. Strange, you thought to yourself, their hair was almost as red as Childe's. . .
"Do you want some help?" Xiangling appeared in your peripheral, shaking you out of your spell for a moment. You breathed a bit of relief and slowly nodded your head, "that'd be perfect! Unless. . . unless you can't help out your opponents?" You hummed, turning your head to observe Yanfei, who was busy enough at the table with the judges. You could tell she was hard at work because her nose was buried in her book of laws. Crafty, that girl.
"Oh, you're right," Xiangling pursed her lips. "I should go ask, then, huh?" She asked you, making you nod in agreement. "Maybe that's for the best," you tell her. "In the meantime, I'll go get started."
"Alright!"
The two of you parted ways -- you headed to your table, while Xiangling headed over to Yanfei. The distance wasn't great, but still. . . something about all of this felt off, and you just wanted to have someone by your side while you battled these feelings -- a stark contrast in the way you used to think before, when you were alone in Snezhnaya. Things still took a lot of getting used to. . .
Approaching the table now, you set down your knapsack full of ingredients. A tremendous weight was lifted off your shoulders, making you sigh with relief. However, you noticed that the table was already full of ingredients; were you at the right table? "Hmm?" You uttered to yourself, looking around with confusion. . . lifting your knapsack and being surprised to learn that there was a note there that you hadn't seen before. "Oh?" You hummed and picked up the folded letter.
The address of the letter made you freeze. The Northland Bank.
Without further thinking, you opened up the letter and revealed the contents.
It's been so long since we've last met each other, comrade. I've heard a lot about your ambitious desire to cook. I've heard about the restaurant you've opened up here in Liyue, but every time I've come by, you've never been open! I wanted that to change, so I bought the best ingredients mora could buy for the Moonchase Cooking Competition. I hope I get to try your food there!
For some reason, there wasn't any comfort in this letter. You remembered him; you could hear him talking to the person composing this letter, fabricating lies about your relationship. What he would neglect to tell anyone, was that he was smothering you to the point where all of your family and friends hated you for not interacting with them anymore, and how he forced you to leave Snezhnaya for good. You heard of the Fatui's presence in Liyue, yes, but you hoped that being a small business owner, you could tactfully avoid anything to do with him, or with Snezhnaya. . . clearly it was wishful thinking.
Unconsciously, you reached up to your neck with your free hand and tenderly felt it; pangs of faint pain made you reminisce about his less-than-flattering grips when you were angry with one-another. Those grips were filled with love at one point, but it seemed like. . . he just. . . grew obsessed, obsessed with you. Always having to be with you, memorizing every single thing that you liked so that he could bring them to you as gifts. . . god, when the two of you were in a relationship, it felt as suffocating as it was to be his friend. Knowing that he was here made you feel greatly uneasy.
But it seemed like standing here summoned the very person you didn't want to see.
“[Y/N], it's good to see you.”
You ignored his handsome lips calling out your name. So chipper and happy -- he wasn't ever privy to expressing his true emotions. Every single cursed possessive comment uttered from his lips bore the taint of passive aggression. "I'll kill you if you leave me," you remember hearing him say it. . . and he bore a smile when he did; chills rolled down your curved spine, making you purse your lips with discomfort.
“You always made the best dishes with Snezhnaya's frost boar, so I’m not surprised that you’re here.” He was behind you now, wasn't he?
“Why would you leave me like that?” He pressed.
"Out in Snezhnaya, alone. Was it because I told you I'd handle that man who harassed you? It's not my fault he went missing, you know," he told you, making you grit your teeth with agitation. Fuck, fuck, fuck. You needed to get out of here. He was a force to be reckoned with; a terrifying man who didn't have any boundaries. He was unhinged. Simply put, he was unhinged, but more importantly, unhinged and in love.
So, you stepped away from the cooking table and began to make your way into the thick crowd. You began to bob and weave through the thicket of people like you had somewhere to be, hoping that your quickened pace would be enough to discourage him from following you, or perhaps, you’d even lose him in the thickest of it.
But it seemed like the harbinger could sniff out your scent, because he trailed you with ease, even with two feet of space, and about 20 people between the two of you.
"If you move again, I'll do something~ and I know you don't want that," he purred at you with a mockingly flirtatious tone. "Right in front of this crowd, [Y/N]. It's crazy what a man in love will do,"
"How can you say that?" You asked in a hushed voice, barely above the roar of the patrons that surrounded you. You needed to hurry before this scene grew much larger than what it needed to be. "You made living in Snezhnaya a hell that I wanted out of. Do you intend to do the same to me here, now that you know that I'm in Liyue?" You cursed. He should've been glad that you hadn't called over the Millelith!
But it was probably the right thing to do, in hindsight.
"You know that I was only looking out for you." Childe said smoothly, gently gripping your shoulder to turn you around. You reluctantly did so to come face-to-face with his boyishly handsome features. His fiery red locks glistened in the sun and almost emulated it, while his piercing blue eyes were turned into crescent moons. His smirk said it all. "This world isn't cut out for someone so precious. . . so adorable," he purred, making you grimace with disgust. "And I did what I could to keep you safe. Again - not my fault the people I handled for you went missing shortly after what happened."
You narrowed your eyes with disgust before your hand went up to slap him, out of the well-felt frustration that came with interacting with someone so smug over something that had a sway on your memories to this very day.
However, his hand caught yours by the wrist. He wrenched it tight, squeezing the delicate bone and making you whimper. He forced you to come closer to him, effectively closing the gap between the two of you. "Is that any way to treat your comrade?"
You knew that wasn't what he meant. "You killed those people, Childe. You're a monster with an insatiable bloodlust!" You yelped at him, struggling against his grip.
"[Y/N]? [Y/N], where are you? The competition's about to start!" Xiangling could be heard calling out for you, making you look up with worry. Childe couldn't be around her. . . God, who knows what he would do to her?
"Oh, is that your friend? I think her name is. . . Xiangling, right?" He hummed as he glowered at you. "She's very cute, isn't she [Y/N]?"
"You're crazy. . . you're fucking crazy!" You cried at him. "I'll do whatever it is that you want me to do, just don't bring her into this!!"
Childe's expression seemed to change into something more enthusiastic. The glower he held was replaced with an excited beam, accompanied by a bright glimmer in his eye - undoubtedly the same one that came with the satisfaction of defeating those who stood in the tyrannic Tsaritsa's way. What did I just get myself into? You wondered to yourself.
