Will immerse our medals into Ganga, sit on hunger strike at India Gate, say protesting wrestlers
India's top wrestlers, including Sakshee Malikkh, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, said they will immerse their medals into river Ganga on Tuesday and then sit on an indefinite hunger strike at India Gate. Since April 23, the grapplers have been protesting against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him.
Tumblr media
India’s top wrestlers, who were recently detained and removed from their protest site at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, have said they will immerse their medals into river Ganga in Haridwar on Tuesday and then sit on an indefinite hunger strike at India Gate.
Wrestlers including Sakshee Malikkh, Bajrang Punia and Sangeeta Phogat, put out a statement on their respective Twitter handles, saying the grapplers would go to Haridwar and immerse their medals into river Ganga at 6 pm.
“These medals are our lives, our souls. There would be no reason to live after immersing them into the Ganga today. We will stage a hunger strike until death at India Gate after that,” read the statement in Hindi.
Since April 23, the grapplers have been protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by female athletes, including a minor.
Dramatic visuals emerged from the wrestlers’ protest march as hundreds of cops and paramilitary personnel blocked their advance towards Parliament House on May 28. As the protesters tried to breach the security cordon, a fierce tussle broke out — the wrestlers and cops pushed, shoved and grappled with one another.
In the joint statement, the wrestlers said the Prime Minister “who calls us our daughters”, did not even once show his concern for the grapplers. “Rather, he invited the ‘oppressor’ (Brij Bhushan Singh) to the inauguration of the new Parliament building. He even posed for photographs in bright white clothes. We have been stained by this brightness,” it said.
The statement said, “Where is the place for the daughters of India? Have we been reduced to people indulging in mere sloganeering or do we have an agenda to come to power?”
“We are going to immerse these medals into river Ganga… The more sacred we consider the Ganga, the more sacredly we had achieved these medals by toiling hard. These medals are sacred for the whole country and the right place should be in the Ganga itself,” it said.
The protest, which started on April 23, at Jantar Mantar saw heartbreaking visuals on the day of the new Parliament building’s inauguration when Delhi Police cracked down on them in the midst of their march. An FIR was lodged against the wrestlers for taking out the march to the new Parliament building, mentioning that their protest would hamper “national prestige”.
The wrestlers, who resumed their sit-in last month after the first round of protests in January, have been demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh, also a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Kaisarganj.
Opposition leaders, including Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have condemned the Centre over their inaction against Brij Bhushan Singh.
The WFI chief dismissed the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by some female grapplers.

Arvind Kejriwal cleared the air, will not contest in the association INDIA bloc in Haryana
Leader of Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday made an announcement saying that he will contest alone on all 90 seats in the Haryana assembly elections. He further added that for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, AAP will come forward with INDIA Alliance.
"For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections we will contest elections together with the INDIA alliance but for the assembly elections, we will contest alone on all 90 seats of Haryana by itself," he said.
The Delhi CM was addressing the 'Badlaav Jan Sabha' in Haryana's Jind when he made the statement.
"Today, AAP is the largest group in Haryana compared to other political parties like Congress, the BJP, and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). There is a committee of 15-20 people in every village and ward. There are nearly 1.25 lakh office-bearers of the party in Haryana. This has been achieved in the last six months," Kejriwal added.
Talking about the current Bihar Political landscape Kejriwal said, "People have been disillusioned with every party in Haryana. Every political party that ruled Haryana in the last 75 years only thought about their own family. They accumulated enough money for their next seven generations. Today, people believe only in one political party. That is AAP."
He concluded his statement by saying that the people of Punjab and Delhi the neighboring states of Haryana, "are very happy with the work of the AAP."
The statement came in the backdrop of Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar severing his ties with the grand alliance in Bihar and rejoining the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

India's Largest C&D Waste Processing Plant Powered by CFlo Technology unveiled by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
Tumblr media
19 October, 2023
Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal marked a significant milestone in the state’s environmental journey as he inaugurated India's largest Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste processing plant on 8th October 2023. The plant, set up by EverEnviro, boasts a processing capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes per day and will utilize CFlo technology for efficient recycling and producing high-quality output which will be put back into construction to promote a circular economy. This state-of-the-art facility is poised to revolutionize waste management in the national capital.
Delhi is no stranger to the environmental challenges posed by the massive volume of C&D waste generated daily. Shri Kejriwal's vision, underscored by the use of cutting-edge CFlo technology, aims to address this long-standing concern. The CM highlighted the importance of repurposing C&D waste into essential products, such as tiles and bricks, during his inaugural address.
"Delhi generates a colossal amount of construction and demolition waste, and this plant, equipped with advanced technology, will ensure that this waste is efficiently recycled and converted into valuable products. This is a significant step toward sustainable development, reducing pollution, and creating a cleaner and greener Delhi," said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The facility, strategically located in Jahangirpuri near Burari, will efficiently cater to the waste generated in various parts of the city, thereby reducing the burden on landfills and promoting responsible waste management practices.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the symbolic commencement of the plant's operations, demonstrating its capacity to recycle waste materials effectively. The event was attended by government officials, local dignitaries, and environmental activists who lauded the initiative as a groundbreaking step towards a cleaner and more sustainable Delhi. Environmentalists and urban planning experts have widely praised the move as an essential step towards sustainable urban development.
As outlined by CFlo’s Chief Revenue Officer, Nitin Dubey, “CFlo technology has been a game-changer in the field of waste management, making recycling more efficient and environmentally friendly. India’s first C&D Waste processing plant was also powered by CFlo technology over a decade back and now we are proud to design and manufacture India’s largest C&D Waste processing plant. It stands out as an eco-friendly solution with its technology designed to eliminate air pollution, maintain low sound levels, and promote sustainability by achieving 90-95% water recycling and zero wastewater discharge. Furthermore, the plant integrates smart features, being IoT-connected and accessible for remote monitoring and control through a central command center. What makes this technology particularly impressive is its capacity to transform Construction and Demolition Waste into sand and aggregate, meeting the specifications outlined in IS:383/2016, thus contributing to resource conservation and a greener future.”
As the plant goes into full operation, it is expected to significantly improve the city's environmental landscape and set an example for other urban centers in India dealing with similar challenges. The recycling of C&D waste into valuable products, driven by CFlo technology, will not only reduce pollution but also conserve natural resources by promoting a circular economy, making Delhi an eco-friendly and more sustainable place to live.

"PM's Low Qualifications Dangerous For Country": Manish Sisodia's Letter
In the letter which was posted on Twitter by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his former deputy said, "It is very dangerous for the country if the prime minister is less educated."
Tumblr media
New Delhi: Former education minister of Delhi, jailed Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, today wrote a letter addressing the people of the country, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's lack of educational qualification is 'dangerous' for the country. His party boss, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has also been attacking the PMK over the alleged confusion over his college degrees. Mr Kejriwal was recently fined ₹ 25,000 by the Gujarat High Court for asking for details of the PM's graduation and post-graduation degrees through Right to Information (RTI).
Manish Sisodia's letter, tweeted by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, says, "Today's youth is aspirational, they want to achieve something, and they are looking for opportunities. They want to win over the world. They want to do wonders in science and technology. Does a less educated PM have the capacity to fulfil the aspiration of today's youth?," Mr Sisodia claimed in the letter, alleging that 60,000 schools have been closed in the country in the last few years.
Mr Sisodia said that science and technology are progressing daily, and the world is talking about artificial intelligence. "In this context, my heart sinks when I hear the Prime Minister saying that we can make tea or food from dirty gas by inserting a pipe in a dirty drain. Can food be cooked from the dirty gas of a drain? No. When the PM says that radar can't detect an aircraft flying behind clouds, he becomes a subject of mockery in the entire world. School and college students mock him," he said.
The entire world knows that the PM of India is less educated and doesn't have basic knowledge of science, Mr Sisodia said, claiming that other heads of hug the PM, they extract a high cost for every hug. Don't know what papers they make him sign, because the PM doesn't understand because he is less educated.
The CBI had on February 26 arrested Mr Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
On March 31, a trial court dismissed Mr Sisodia's bail application, saying he was "prima facie the architect" and played the "most important and vital role" in the criminal conspiracy relating to the alleged payment of advance kickbacks of ₹ 90-100 crore meant for him and his colleagues in the Delhi government.

Amid the growing clamour for Opposition unity after the change in political equation in Bihar, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called on his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar to plan a strategy to bring non-Congress parties together to take on the Modi Government in 2024 polls.
The TRS leader shared the dais at a public event in Patna with Nitish and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav. He also met RJD chief Lalu Prasad at his residence.
The Nitish-KCR meeting is being seen as an important step in the direction of achieving Opposition unity. When reporters bombarded KCR with questions about whether he was planning a third front, Nitish chipped in saying, “It’s going to be the main front.”
Nitish is reportedly in close contact with the Congress’ high command and may try to convince KCR to take on board the Congress to defeat Modi.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the KCR-Nitish meeting. Since KCR is rooting for a third front and Nitish is favouring a broad-based unity of the Opposition parties, the two leaders have miles to cover before they reach some understanding on evolving a joint strategy to take on the BJP.
While KCR has been lobbying for a third front and holding talks with the likes of Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, and Akhilesh Yadav, Nitish is reportedly in favour of bringing together the entire Opposition camp, including the Congress, under one umbrella.
BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi took a dig at his former boss Nitish and KCR saying their meeting is a “get-together of two daydreamers”. Modi said it is a meeting of two leaders who are losing their base in their respective States and “desiring to become Prime Minister of the country”.
