Rock-and-roll your way over to the Museum this Thursday for another evening of Art History Happy Hour. Our friends at The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies and Brooklyn Brainery are serving up a round seriously un-serious art history lectures inspired by Jeremy Deller’s Iggy Pop Life Class, including The History of Performance Art, The Evolving Art of Masculinity, and The History of American Music. Together we’ll celebrate the unruly and unconventional culture exemplified by Iggy as we cheer along with beer and wine. For those of you who enjoy beer and wine, there will be a cash bar. Cheers!

Happy #LunarNewYear! 2022 is the #YearoftheTiger. 🐅
In many East Asian cultures, tigers are considered guardians, which is why they commonly appear on children’s clothing and in temple architecture. The person who used this ceramic head rest may have hoped that the tiger would ward off bad dreams or disease. People born in the years of the Tiger (2022, 2010, 1998, 1987, 1974, 1962, 1950) are considered brave, but a little unpredictable.
2022 is specifically the year of the Water Tiger, which occurs only every 60 years. Water Tigers are confident, sharp, and good at making money. We'll talk about these characteristics and more during this month's #ArtHistoryHappyHour dedicated to The Year of the Tiger on February 24.
Learn more and get your ticket.
