Who are the characters' patron gods ?
We know Nefertina's patron goddess is Bastet, it's the topic of a whole episode
Tumblr media
Ja-Kal's is not very consistant, it's a falcon and they keep alternating between saying Ra and Horus as if they were the same character... but sometimes in myths they fuse into Ra-Horakhti so they CAN be his patron gods fused as one !
Tumblr media
Armon's is a ram, so it is natural most people think about the most known ram god, Khnum. But since Khnum has wavy horizontal horns belonging to a breed that no longer exists whereas Armon has normal ram horns like we know them nowadays, I would be inclined to think Amun is his patron god since he can sometimes be represented as a ram with circular horns. Plus, similar name lol
Tumblr media
Rath's is much harder because there are tons of cobra gods. And a lot are goddesses and we don't know if their patron deities have to fit their gender or not needed. Renenutet ? Meretseger ? Wadjet ? The goddesses of the Ogdoad ? Plus the show doesn't always make the gods very accurate (WHY THE HELL DID THEY MAKE SEKHMET A VULTURE !?!) so maybe other gods who usually are not cobras but simply snakes like Nehebkau or Werethekau ? Or straight up other gods who would have been drastically changed for that show like Sekhmet has been ? For now I go with Werethekau, being a goddess of magic and he is a magician
Tumblr media
Scarab may not be a mummy, he has similar powers and is beetle themed so we can suppose he has a patron god too. And there is only one beetle god in Egyptian mythology, Khepri
Tumblr media
Arakh and his son Kimas are scorpion themed. There are a few scorpio goddesses, no male, so it could mean gender does mean nothing. The most famous and powerful one being Serket it is probably her and either because they are father and son so it is special or because Arakh is a jerk who does not see Kimas as his own person but just an extension of himself they share her as patron goddess... OR One has Serket and the other has one of the others, Sepertuenes, Ta-Bitchet, Ifset, Wepetsepu, Sefedsepu, Batcheh, Metemet-Nefertiyes, Sefet-Sefekh, Iset Hededyt, Iset Ta-Wahaet... but I will go with the first I think, less complex, more in-character from Arakh, they have the same talisman who links them to each other, and some scholars think all these goddesses are actually just other forms of Serket anyway

Armon was sweet, powerful and had a joyful personality.
He lost his arm serving his country in the Pharaoh’s army and was rewarded with an enchanted golden arm. Unfortunately, when revived as a Mummy in the 90s, he could only utilize the arm when he summons his armor, the rest of the time he has to make due with only one.
He was voiced by a real life stage magician, which was funny to me because Armon was constantly asking Rath how his spells worked and being told they were far too complicated to try explaining. Lol!
His armor was Ram based, I’m not sure which god that was supposed to be patronized by. Maybe Khunm?

Thinking about how Nefer-Tina had an entire episode dedicated to her patron goddess makes me wonder what the others might be...
There are actually a plethora of serpentine deities in the Egyptian pantheon, but I believe Rath’s patron goddess is probably Wadjet. It would make sense, since she was a goddess primarily concerned with protecting the Pharoh and the royal line. She was closely associated with the sun god Ra, and her "wedjet's eye" (aka eye of Horus) features prominently on Presley's protection amulet, which he was given by Rath. She was also depicted in the uraeus (cobra in the Pharaoh's crown) and was a symbol of royalty and power. This works given Rath being a scholar tends to act the most ‘aristocratic’ of the mummies. Incidentally, her name also means "Green one".
Ja-Kal's patron god would seem straightforward. His is likely Horus. He (Horus) is the son of Osiris, and grandson of the primordial creator god Atum. As one might expect, Horus was depicted as a man with a falcon's head. He was also associated with the heavens, and known for outwitting his foes. As the Pharaoh was said to be "the living Horus" on Earth, it would make sense he would also grant mystical armor to one of his guardians. The rivalry between Ja-Kal and his brother Arakh would also appear to be a nod to the myth of Horus’ father Osiris vs his own brother Set.
But, if we want to dig a little deeper and maybe read too much into small details, his armor could also be an ibis, which would tie him to the god Thoth. Thoth was another bird deity, god of wisdom, and attributed with the creation of hieroglyphs and writing instruments. In Sleep Walk Like an Egyptian Ja-Kal's wife Tia mentioned their son Padjet was ‘helping’ with the ink-making. The toddler’s hand print on a scrap of cloth is all Ja-Kal has left to remember his family. It's a bit of a stretch, but it could be a reference to Thoth!
Armon’s patron deity might be Khnum, an ancient ram-headed god. Khnum was associated with the Nile river, and he was thought to craft the forms of children from the clay of the riverbed, which is why he was represented with a potter’s wheel. He was also seen as a guardian of children. Beyond the physical similarities, there isn’t a lot to go on for why Khnum would be Armon’s patron deity. However, like Nefer-Tina, Armon was more able and willing than the other mummies to adapt to a modern lifestyle. It’s another stretch, but his malleability to ‘shape’ himself to the situation could be a reference to Khnum's association with clay. It’s also an excellent skill to have as a warrior, particularly if you are protecting children.

"I did not agree nor do I understand this act we put on, these fights, the insults, the tension when we can do without. We have heard the silence, we are familiar with it, we know it is peaceful, we know it is calm we know it is_" There is a hesitance, like he was scared it continue, like he would soon make a mistake but he continued regardless "We know it is love, you know my feelings towards you and yet you never failed to torture me with your indecisiveness and stubbornness which you know I love but I can no longer bare another day acting like I loathe you, like I feel nothing towards you, when we are well aware it is not true"
Armon swallowed down the choking feeling of tears and his face softened "you_" a long pause, the peaceful silent, a whole quite , "you love me?"
"You cannot tell? I have killed my people for you, I have given you equal name, equal footing and half of my people are against me because we wed, I am about to go to war for you_I have wanted for you as I have laughed with you. I have not know a single moment of happiness that was without you and when I am apart from you the silence is filled with anything but warmth , it is deafening and it is harsh. I-" He yelled and for the frist time tears as dark as the night sky filled his eyes as he looked down in shame of his tears, his body. He tried to wipe them away but they only stained his pale face.
Armon started slow, a foot in front of the other, and somehow he found himself standing there in front of his husband and it pained him to see Obsidian cry, it pained him that he had been so blind. He could no longer run away, his body would not even let him, his body that had claimed it's place and that was beside Obsidian is where it stood.
Obsidian looked up and there he was, Armon. The man who he would do anything for, the man who from the first day they'd met he knew there was something about him, something in the light of his hazel eyes, in the curls of his tangled hair, in the golden brown of his skin. Armon had always had a way about him and Obsidian sensed it before he knew.
When their eyes met, Armon turned his head, an attempt to shy away but Obsidian shook his head and with his cold palms grabs Armon's warm face, staining his face with the dark ink that were his tears. "I love you" A small kiss was placed on the side of Armon's lips, it was light and cold like a winter flake on his skin. Armon did not object, instead he sighed like he'd been holding this breath and the kiss was air to his lungs
"I love you" Another kiss was placed on Armon's lips, Obsidian wanted to pull back and repeat his actions but Armon wraps his arms around Obsidian's neck and then their lips would truly intertwin, and they had become one in the warmth of the silence . "I love you too"
