I gaze out our apartment window, fully captured by the scene playing out in front of me, it feels too perfect for it to be real, it's as if I'm seeing a glimpse of a movie not yet recorded, its as if my eyes are the camera and im no longer just a veiwer of the scene, i am the perspective of the movie. The snow is slowly wandering through the air, gently falling to the ground but every once in a while will be drifted away with the wind. The flakes are sparse like they're here to display that its winter but not enough to pile up in the streets, simply a light dusting like powdered sugar on a funnel cake. The tree just outside the window, constrained by concrete now fully depleted of its leaves has a light sprinkle of holiday decorations, a few feet of lights wrapped around its base and some ornaments scattered around, its an almost sad display of holiday cheer with how sparse it is but it shows the compasion of someone who wants to spark some holiday spirit in a city seemingly too busy to sleep. We're creeping into night but dusk has just begun. The street lamps give off a warm glow illuminating patches down the boulevard with some strangers leading our eyes across the scene before seemingly fading from existence once they leave our view, there's a couple conversing down by the light as if it gives them warmth from the chilly air, their dialouge can't be heard but their body language shows a casual conversation that ends with a tight hug and a few pats on the back, they part ways with one walking to their appartment and the other strolling off the set. It continues to grow darker and suddenly the smell of the Brownies, that I started before getting enthralled by the scene, floods the apartment, dragging me back to reality. I feel almost sad, I felt as though the world in the window was more than just a look outside but a glimmer of hope, a small speck of happiness similar to snow, one small flake is nothing but almost always a sign of more.
