Producer 1: okay, so we have the film rights to this cute British story about a stuffed bear and its friends. How can we make it more relatable to an American audience?
i’m sorry i never shut up about romeo and juliet but can you imagine taking a play about very young teenagers embroiled in a culture of constant violence and instability and looking out at modern teenagers embroiled in a culture of constant violence and instability (particularly in the united states where everyone my age i know grew up terrified of school shootings) and going “hmm. the best way to teach this is about the follies of stupid young love” because that’s what the school system does. and to be clear i’m not blaming individual teachers i’m blaming the pervasive cultural idea of shakespeare’s works (and especially romeo and juliet) as mounted on an untouchable pedestal where they can’t be relatable or fluid but must be Teaching Something
Anyone who thinks there isn't a MASSIVE propaganda campaign going against Trump just has to type MAGA into the Tumblr search box.
Apparently Joe Biden is a war hero now. And everyone left of center has now decided that they were AGAINST the lockdowns in 2020, that it was all Trump's fault. Have yet to see an actual issue raised either in support of Biden or against Trump...
Propaganda isn't supposed to give you something to think about. It's inducing an emotional response; reaction. If you're thinking then it's not doing it's job.
We should treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion - mandatory 48 hour waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he's about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence, and a mandatory invasive ultrasound procedure. Let's close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, with people shouting at him that he's a murderer, begging him not to buy a gun.
It makes more sense to do this with young men and guns than with women and healthcare, right? I mean, no woman getting an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds.
2nd Amendment NRA asshole gets 25 yrs to life for murdering young woman who accidentally drove up his driveway!
Society can not function if everyone is armed and feels empowered to fire upon anyone for the slightest perceived infraction.
This is why the Russians heavily fund the NRA, to destabilize American society and keep us in endless turmoil that cripples us politically. This is part of a larger strategy called asymmetrical warfare. This is what you do when you can not assault an enemy directly with conventional military forces.
