#Alien Covenant fan fiction
Text
I have a toxic ex I broke up with almost ten years ago. Periodically he has contacted me over the years. I've told him to stop. He did it again. Not going into much more detail, it's personal.
But now I really want to read fanfciton. And you know what would be great self fulfillment and self indulgent fanfic? A young Erik Lehnsherr, or a Bucky Barnes, or Loki Odinson, or David 8, or Walter (Alien: Covenant) or TASM Peter Parker fanfic about OC or reader's ex not leaving them alone, and how Erik or Bucky or Loki or David 8 or Walter or TASM Peter Parker (oh, or Wanda Maximoff, or young Charles Xavier, even) would deal with it and what they would do. Anyone have one? Or want to write one for me? Pretty please? Let me know. Comment below. Thank you!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Alright, I’m just gonna come out and say it. Philip Wittebane is the definition of wasted potential. Ever since the Belos = Philip reveal, I had been waiting for them to make his motivations actually make sense, and then the show ended and they never did. He wanted to kill all witches because magic is evil, even though he uses way more and more obviously evil magic than any of them, and he thinks he’s better because he’s human, even though 17th century Puritans didn’t conceptualize witches as a separate species that were racially inferior, witches were just people who made pacts with the devil to do evil magic, which is closer to a description of him than anyone else on the Boiling Isles. And no, I am not a namby-pamby Steven Universe fan who thinks every fictional villain should just be a misunderstood outcast and get a redemption arc. Bill Cipher’s motivation wasn’t nuanced or complex at all, he literally just wanted to destroy  the world for fun, but he was still a fucking fantastic villain because he was funny and charismatic. “But OP!” I hear you cry, “Philip isn’t supposed to be tragic and sympathetic OR funny and charming, because he’s a fascist!” Well, see, the thing about that is, if we’re meant to take him as a serious, non-sugarcoated depiction of fascism, he fails at that too! Witches and demons aren’t a marginalized population, they don’t even interact with humans at all under normal circumstances! Humans aren’t an oppressor class, they’re basically space aliens! In fact, I’d say that if we are to read the show as a serious depiction of fascism, it’s a Boy In The Striped Pajamas-level actively harmful one, given how the draining spell was something literally no one but Philip knew about until it was too late, which is a bullshit myth many people believe about the Holocaust! And you can say that just the stuff he was open about like the coven system and the conformatorium is enough to put him in fascist territory even without the attempted genocide, then why are half the coven heads, the whole Emperor’s Coven, and everyone else who knowingly and willingly enforced all of it treated as innocent victims who are immediately forgiven the second they change sides? If giving him any amount of sympathy or charisma or motivations that make sense would be giving good PR to fascists, then the way the show actually played out is basically saying that Himmler and Göring were probably perfectly fine people who simply weren’t aware Hitler was such a bad egg, which I feel like is a hell of a lot fucking worse! It feels like one faction of the crew wanted to make Philip a tragic, complex villain, and another faction wanted to make him a serious political allegory, and a third, larger faction didn’t care about him at all beyond the bare minimum of being a force for Luz and the gang to oppose, so what we got is a villain with a tragic backstory that’s only ever vaguely alluded to and indirectly glimpsed, and the aesthetics of fascism and conservative Christianity (except he can’t ever actually reference Jesus or God or Hell or the Bible because Disney) without any of the inconvenient ramifications.

Library Haul!
Crownchasers by Rebecca Coffindaffer - YA scifi and queer. A deadly competition for a throne and a snarky female main character. I'm excited. I love this sort of classic YA story but in a more modern way.
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher - Middle grade fantasy. Super adorable so far, already started it. About a witch who can only work with dough who needs to solve a murder and save her city.
The Witchery by S. Isabelle - Dark YA fantasy about witches, blood, covens, and wolves.
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake - Dark fantasy about six college students competing to be in a secret society, but one of them won't be chosen and will die.
All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman - YA fantasy about, again, a deadly competition, this one to control powerful magic, but this year it is public due to a tell-all book.
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara = adult contemporary fiction. Extremely trigger heavy and tragic. About four friends and their lives.
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies - historical non-fiction, reading it for writing purposes
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Mass - I'm not a Maas fan, and I don't particularly like her writing, but I am fascinated by the worldbuilding in this series and I wanna poke at it for myself
A Half-Built Garden by Ruthanna Emrys - adult queer scifi about aliens who come to earth to save humanity, but the people already trying to save the planet don't want to give it up
Four Lost Cities:A Secret History of the Urban Age by Annalee Newitz - non-fiction about four historical, lost cities and how why they were abandoned. Reading for writing.

Halo Review
There might be some spoilers in this review.
Halo is a series based on the video game. The first season is available on Paramount. It has been renewed for a second season.
I have no knowledge or investment in the source material for this series. I watched it because I am a science fiction fan and seen buzz about it as it first came out. Steven Spielberg is an executive producer.
The series was easy to binge. Its 9 episodes of approximately one hour each. I watched it over four days, but it could be done in a weekend easily.
My over-all impression is positive, but the ending was disappointing to the point where it left me feeling unsatisfied. I am not happy about the investment of time. That said, I am likely to watch at least the first episode of the second season-not because of any investment in cliffhangers -but to see if my original pleasure is likely to return upon a continuation of the story.
What I most like about the series was the compelling characters. I became immediately invested in the story of Kwan Ha, a teenage daughter of a rebel leader, whose is the lone survivor of an attack against her village, not from the empire her father rebelled against, but from a race of aliens the empire is fighting. Her journey to assume the role of her father is an interesting tale. I, also, became interested in the story of Master Chief Petty Officer John. John is part of an elite military force trained since childhood whose emotions are regulated by an implant blocker to make them better fighters. His journey to discover the truth about his childhood is the best part of the series. The actor Pablo Schreiber is subtle, controlled expressions is one of two highlights of the series. The other is the performance of Natascha McElhone as the evil scientist. Her large, expressive eyes and subtle acting styles suits the character well.
The greater story is common in science fiction. It is the story of humanity and if what makes us human is our strength and weakness. What is the next evolutionary state for mankind? It is important that the characters rebelling against the empire are compelling because the empire (UNSC) is worth rebelling against but alien race, The Covenant, is trying to wipe out the empire and humanity which makes the rebellion secondary to survival. Therefore, we can only root for individual goodness as we cannot root for either of the warring parties.
I liked the strong female characters through out the series. I liked that they were distinct, nuanced, strong warriors or scientists and some evil, some good, some struggling to decide. I, also, thought some of the layering of artificial life forms was interesting. First, we are introduced to the Spartans which, when first introduced by reputation, seemed like a different race than human. In fact they are humans, memories wiped, trained since childhood, emotions controlled, and with great technology at their command. Then we have a human clone we meet only briefly before her demise. Her purpose being only as a way to create a human intellect to download into artificial intelligence. I fear that with our current advancements in A.I., this series and other science fiction portrayals of A.I., will become quickly obsolete. We are advancing too quickly to believe AI will not be more routine in the far distance future. For now, I can suspension of belief issue can be placed to the side to enjoy the series.
What I didn’t like, in addition to the ending, is that at some point the Kwan He storyline and the spartan storyline separated to the point where the episodes focused only on one or the other. Part of the unsatisfying ending is that they didn’t join up again. If the Kwan He story only exists to send Chief Petty Officer John on his duty, then why continue it and focus whole episodes on it? If they are joined in some greater way in the second season, that would be good, but that it didn’t occur in the first season is part of the reason the ending is unsatisfying. The second reason for the disappointment is that the plot includes that each of the warring parties had one part of a powerful artifact which when combined were supposed to be very powerful. In fact, combined, they didn’t seem to do more than what had already been accomplished by one. So, despite, the large battle scene at the end, I felt the let down of a big build up not leading to anything very interesting. Anticlimactic for me because battle scenes are not really something I enjoy. At the end there is a cliff hanger which is fine, but it didn’t save the rest of the last episode.
A good series, but, unfortunately, (to use a gymnastic sports analogy) didn’t stick the landing.

Ancient Apocalypse on Netflix: Is Graham Hancock’s theory true?
anything with Hancock's name on it is suspect. I knew that back when he was searching for the ark of the covenant. This guy and ancient aliens have done more to damage real archeology since someone glued a fish to a monkey and called it a mermaid.
no. Im not going to look up that name for you. its exactly where it should be. on the trash pile of charlatans and hoaxes best left forgotten. I will attempt to not watch his show because like ancient aliens, this could become popular in my household. which is in itself distressing, but manageable. pops is the voice of truth around here lol. every time they put it on you will hear me, mostly from the other room "bullshit"....."no way"...."impossible"..."they may absolutely exist, but they've never been here."
im here to teach them critical thinking after all, its my job.
"whats that? NO! there are no jewish space lasers! wth!"
"NO! Cern is not satanic!"
all things I've been forced to have to say out of my own lips.
anyway, don't watch this or watch it as fiction. thats what it is.

With Ridley Scott returning home to the Alien franchise he helmed some 38 years ago with Sigourney Weaver as the bad-ass Ellen Ripley and a Katherine Waterston having an uncanny resemblance to Weaver in Alien: Covenant, we can expect a spectacular spectacle of blood, guts and violence reminiscent of its original predecessor yet with a modern twist bringing this franchise full force into the limelight yet again. Where guessing they’ve all polished off that empty bottle of Jack Daniels on the table just a little too quickly.Ĭheck out the new photo below from the upcoming film, and then watch Legion on FX tomorrow, February 22, for an exclusive Alien: Covenant debut. Ok, so, I really want to share this story that I just got done reading. I did not write this story. I just really REALLY loved it.
I’m always very short on time so this took me three days to read, but maybe if you’re not so busy, you could read it more quickly.
Guys. This story is amazing, and I feel like it’s very hard to do it justice by describing it.
In the story, a frail individual forced to spend increasing amounts of time sleeping due to ever worsening chronic fatigue syndrome, escapes their limited reality by recreating the world of Covenant and Prometheus in their dreams.
So, self insert but very cleverly done.
I do feel like at least a little background knowledge regarding lucid dreaming might be a prerequisite.
And this story is for those who enjoyed the horror aspects of Prometheus and Covenant.
And guys, it’s very well written. Like, I would not be the least bit surprise if the author came out and said they’re actually some well known published author.
I could gush on and on about this story. Seriously guys. It’s the best thing I’ve ever read.

Day 13's Sketch. A Thrasher bellows out what remains of its rage after completely crushing an ODST Fire Team. Thrashers are Mgalekgolo who's bond brother is slain in battle, but they survive. Filled with unquenchable anger they are refitted into Thrasher units to satisfy their bloodlust. Thrashers carry out their namesake on the battlefield and are usually utilized on bunkered positions where the enemy has backed themselves into a corner with no way out. With their rage goes the loss of the hunter's desire to live. Most Thrashers die the first time they are deployed. Based on the Thrashers from Halo: Out With a Whimper, a sprite game from years ago. (Also canon in Halo Ammunition)

“Joie de vivre”
noun
exuberant enjoyment of life.
Here’s my short story/fan fiction about Daniels and Walter. This is also my English project, hope I pass. And I apologize if there are any grammatical errors. Just try to understand. Hope you enjoy!
“I don’t dream at all.”
Daniels
Daniels?
Daniels?!
Daniels snaps back to reality, feeling warmth engulfing her right shoulder.
“I’m sorry that I had to shout and shake you. I was worried, you weren’t responding, even after calling your name several times and shaking you. Are you all right?” his eyebrows furrow in concern. He’s never been this close to Daniels. He’s so close that Daniels can see the Weyland-Yutani imprint, just above his left brow. She then notices how blue his eyes were, how pink and luscious his lips were, how he radiated warmth and energy, to her surprise. She thought androids were cold and plastic-looking. Lacking the look of concern or whatever emotion. But he was the same as any other human being that she has ever met. Actually, even better than any human.
At least, for her.
“Daniels? You’ve been staring at me for 5 minutes. Is there something wrong? I can feel the elevation of your heart rate and body temperature rising. These can be symptom of fever. You should take -“
“I’m fine, Walter.” she smiles coyly. “It’s just that,” she hesitates to say “you’re so close to me.”
She has never seen Walter this embarrassed before. She never knew androids could feel embarrassment.
Walter steps back immediately, “I apologize for causing you discomfort.”
Daniels watches his Adam’s apple move up and down as he swallows.
“No, Walt. You didn’t make me uncomfortable. I haven’t had any physical contact in a while, and it just overwhelms me when your close.” she smiles sheepishly.
“Please do tell me the physical limitations you want between us. I do not want to upset or make you feel anxious around me.”
Daniels frowns and feels remorse. She doesn’t want Walter, the man who saved her life thrice, to think that she feels uncomfortable around him. Especially after what happened between her and David.
Walter and David do bear physical similarities, but, not on the inside. David is an overzealous psychopath, while Walter is a kind, considerate and loyal friend. Who makes bad jokes.
“Don’t you dare, ever, to think that I feel uncomfortable around you.”
Walter shows surprise and confusion; confused about whether she was angry or worried. Or both.
He opens his mouth to respond, but Daniels cuts him off.
“You’re important to me, Walt. You saved me more than I have thanked you. First, you sacrificed your hand for my life, then you kicked David’s butt just right before he tries to tranquilize me, then you kicked David’s butt again just right before he tries to experiment on me. And you didn’t just saved me, you saved Tennessee, 2,000 colonists and a thousand embryos. We owe you our life. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t be here.”
Walter was surprised at such a statement. He felt, an emotion, he can’t quite understand or express m. He was worried, though, because androids can’t feel emotions.
They weren’t allowed to.
They weren’t programmed to.
He was worried that he might be malfunctioning. He was worried that maybe someday, he might turn out like David. But he was most worried, that someday, he might hurt Daniels.
But then he started noticing something, he was overheating! He had no idea why. He tried to run all of his software programs to look for the problem. But he couldn’t find it. He tried and tried, but it only made matters worse.
Androids regulate their body heat through breathing, just like humans. The more he tried, the more heat his body produced. Causing him to have heavy and sounded breaths. Then it was becoming visible to Daniels, prompting her to ask.
“Walter? Are you okay? You seem to be overheating.” said Daniels, with a concerned look.
“Yes, Daniels. I am perfectly all right.”
“Doesn’t seem like it.” she laughs.
He enjoys himself when he sees Daniels happy.
“I am just venting out the heat from all the programs running at the moment.” he half-lies. His main reason for overheating is because Daniels expressed such a flattering opinion of him.
After a long pause of just staring at each other, Walter breaks the silence, because he was starting to feel awkward.
“Thank you, Daniels.”
“For what?” she giggles.
“For being frank, and kind, and understanding. And for treating me like I’m an actual human being. Which others find difficult.
“It’s because you are one! No, actually, you’re much better than any other human I’ve ever met.” she kind of regrets being honest.
Yet, she smiles. The most kindest smile that Walter has ever seen. And this made Walter produce even more heat. But he kept his perfect composure, so Daniels doesn’t notice anymore.
An alarm beeps from Daniels wristwatch.
“I gotta go. Gotta tend to the colonists, see you later? asked Daniels, still smiling.
“See you later. I’ll just tend to the garden, as usual.” smiled Walter, attempting to sound funny.
Daniels stares at him for a moment, which makes Walter almost lose his smile, until she scoffs and laughs.
Daniels then gets up and walks to the entrance/exit door. But she stops, just right under the doorway, and turns her back to face Walter.
“Oh! By the way, you’re welcome.” and she speeds off to the colonists.
Walter just stands there, silently, grinning and overheating at the same time.
