Milano. #notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article

just had one of my most fun times on eu4.
playing as russia (from muscovy like a normie), solid midgame, chill run. allied to mamluks and austria (in catholic league, has not fired, i have the largest army in the world duh, had to gift austria to get them out of debt so protestants don’t declare, it worked so far).
i have offensive wars on for mamluks cause why not. they’re like the 3rd largest army after me and ottos so if they want to attack, i’m in. well, they did, i had just attacked kazan and was done coring and converting, upgrading some forts after mil tech 14, just chilling, they declared on ottos and called me in. i figured, if ottos are in a war, protestants won’t declare cause they’re 1/3 of the protestant numbers and it’s pretty even. so i accepted.
oh boy. full defensive ideas, religious as well, i have that policy on that gives +1 attrition for enemies. so i think i have a bonus 2+ attrition on top of severe winter. with all my forts in severe winter provinces upgraded (capital in st. petersburg, i have two outer rings of forts protecting the capital from the south, ottos just wouldn’t cross the hre into sweden cause duh).
like i swear. they went in like the fools they are. they lost. 100k. to attrition. 100k manpower. it was so sweet to watch. so, so sweet. i just let them come. i sacrificed golden horde territory and parts of ukraine i had just gotten from the commonwealth so ottos would take the attrition. whenever they tried sieging one of my ring forts, i would attack them, and i had more than 1 point of morale advantage over them (golden age + defensive ideas + high power projection + high prestige), which became even wider after i reached mil tech 15. but ottos had 5% more discipline, even with the discipline orthodox icon.
it was working like a charm. i was bleeding them slowly. when they retreated, i would retake some of my territory so they would have to siege it again and take more attrition. you know, playing the defensive game, cause i was not about to take the hit for a war that was not mine. i was having a blast.
then mamluks signed peace at -15% warscore. they gave. one of my provinces away. in ukraine. i altf4′d the fuck out of the game cause like i’m not losing that war. the ai sees red number and ottos building a bigger army and gets scared. but i was giving them the russian winter they wanted so much, after all it’s christmas. (it’s even funnier with songs of yuletide playing as ottos kill themselves in droves on my snow covered provinces)
literally one of the most fun i’ve had in eu4. and they say attrition doesn’t matter. nothing like bleeding ottos. they were down to 50k reserves already, from 120k. i was still sitting at my 120k from the start of the war. such a shame i’ll have to altf4 the game until the mamluks stop giving one my provinces away. i’d accept it if i were losing the war, but i’m technically not, which sucks because the ai thinks i am. figures. maybe they’re right. still fun.
(conclusion: took only 1 try; mamluks gave one of their own provinces away. ottos are absolutely destroyed after trying to invade mother russia like 3 times and failing all of them. their manpower is down to 18k. commonwealth is 0 for some reason. i think they never recovered from me. i’m going after them next, because i have truce with ottos)

What Makes a Person (Closed Rp)
@automaton-otto
*Luther was napping at the moment while Warwolf was controlling his body. It was rather obvious for anyone who knew of the AI at this point, while organizing Luther’s books for him, he moved rather mechanically most of the time. As well as he would keep Luther’s long hair up in a tight bun as he rather disliked it getting in the way of his sight.*
*It also seemed Warwolf was deep in thought, his gaze focused in tightly and the task seemed less important than those thoughts.* So much so he only noticed another entering the vicinity of them when they came within a few feet of them.* Luther is asleep at the moment, *He begins, still putting books on the floating shelves beside Luther’s writing desk.* Pardon for the inconvenience. I will be done shortly if you need him.

Hello, and thank you for attending my Tedx talk: Why Spider-Man 2 is a Masterpiece
1. The opening credits that recap the entirety of Spider-Man in case you missed it
2. Guess how many other marvel heroes are in the intro? Fucking zero this movie is about Spider-Man and Spider-Man alone fuck off iron man get a job.
3. Slow pan out from Kirsten Dunst’s creepy half smile that she maintains for the entirety of the movie
4. Within the first 3 fucking minutes of this movie we get the most iconic line of all time “hey, he stole that guys pizza!”
5. Peter Parker gets 30-45 seconds of uninterrupted shot of him trying to get some mops back into a janitor’s closet while Zooey Deschanel’s sister watches.
6. This movie is 2 hours of Sam Raimi beating Tobey Maguire the fuck up. He throws mops at him, he hits him in the head with a book bag, he lets James Franco bitch slap him twice in the face.
7. James Franco is in it back in the days before we knew he had a clone named Dave.
8. Harry Osborne just forces a physicist to hang out with his friend who is failing College. Also yes Peter Parker is flunking College
9. Literally Peter is flunking everything. He can’t pay rent on his shit ass apartment with a communal toilet, his aunt is losing her house, he can’t make it to a show to see Mary Jane on stage, he’s fired constantly, everyone calls him lazy and a disappointment. Even though he is the goddamn Spider-Man saving the city
10. Aunt May is old as shit. As she should be. I shouldn’t watch a Spider-Man movie and want to FUCK Aunt May and/or watch My Cousin Vinny
11. Remember when no one knew how to make super hero movies? So Sam Raimi is just fucking making it up as he goes.
12. Why is Spider-Man at this physics demonstration? Who the hell cares UNPLUG THE MACHINE SPIDER MAN
13. Back up, why is no one like “hey Otto those arms are evil as fuck”
14. Why do the ARMS HAVE AI!?
15. In the most recent Spider-Man movie the villain wants to steal weaponry to support his family. You know grounded down to earth shit. In Spider-Man 2 the villain wants to MAKE THE SUN BECAUSE HIS ROBOT ARMS TOLD HIM TO
16. There is a reason. J. Jonah Jameson has not made an appearance in another Spider-Man film. Because if it’s not JK Simmons. Than get the fuck out. I know JK won his Oscar for Whiplash but we all know it’s really for his portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson featuring such lines as “flowers? If we spend any more on this wedding you can pick the daisies off my grave!”
17. When the evil robot arms first break bad. Sam Raimi films the scene like a classic horror film and it’s FUCKING. BRILLIANT.
18. So many good screaming women in this movie. Zoom IN ON THAT SCREAMING WOMAN HELL YES.
19. Oh back back up there isn’t a scene in this movie I think where Tobey Maguire doesn’t cry. HE IS AN EMOTIONAL SPIDER MAN AND I LOVE IT
20. James Franco cries too.
21. When PP chooses to give up being SM and “Raindrops keep falling on my head” plays to him waltzing through New York CULMINATING in a freeze frame of his dork ass smiling face.
22. He saves an adorable child who, in maybe the cutest exchange I’ve ever seen, attempts to help PP up when he’s dangling from a ledge in a burning building.
23. Doc Oc dressing like a straight up cartoon pimp.
24. Baby Elizabeth Banks plays JJ’s secretary and is so young she’s adorable.
25. The stopping the subway scene is actually literally iconic. I get tense thinking about it. He’s screaming and it clearly hurts and the subway starts to crack and break and it’s AWESOME and everyone promises not to say who he is afterwards
26. Doc Oc ruining the precious moment by forcibly scooting everyone so he can steal Spider-Man to get COMIC BOOK URANIUM TO, I SAY AGAIN, MAKE THE SUN
27. “Your father only obsessed over his work” “GOOD NIGHT BERNARD”
28. The fight choreography between DOC and Spidey is actually awesome because Doc doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing and Spider-Man is fighting 4 robot arms attached to a physicist and it’s just them punching each other and falling.
29. MJ doesn’t appear to own a bra so that’s a thrill every time she gets tossed around.

some headcanons.
though the goggles did protect otto’s eyes, after the reactor malfunction otto suffers from mild photophobia, it is one of the reasons he begins wearing sunglasses whether he is indoors or not.
bisexual / biromantic icon.
suffers from chronic pain, the majority of which is in his back.      -   the weight of the arms as well as needles in his spine contribute to this.
his mechanical arms are made out of prehensile titanium-steel, they are extremely durable, but considering they are made out of metal, they are extremely heavy, this one of the reasons the arms are so often supporting him by bracing themselves on the ground. if he is standing it is extremely likely at least two of them are planted.
the arms are somewhat comparable to a hivemind, while each may have their own thought pattern and vague personality ( they evolved to be individuals, they were not made to be.  )   the ai they were built with is a shared conscious.  while the  inhibitor chip is inoperative, otto becomes ( partially ) part of this hive

Florence Castle's HEROES OF CYBERTRON - Ep. 01: BLURR
Okkei, dopo questo preambolo, benvenuti a HEROES OF CYBERTRON!
Alla prossima puntata! 😘

8 Leading Women In The Field Of AI

8 Leading Women In The Field Of AI
These eight women are at the forefront of the field of artificial intelligence today. They hail from … [] academia, startups, large technology companies, venture capital and beyond.
It is a simple truth: the field of artificial intelligence is far too male-dominated. According to a 2018 study from Wired and Element AI, just 12% of AI researchers globally are female.
Artificial intelligence will reshape every corner of our lives in the coming years—from healthcare to finance, from education to government. It is therefore troubling that those building this technology do not fully represent the society they are poised to transform.
Yet there are many brilliant women at the forefront of AI today. As entrepreneurs, academic researchers, industry executives, venture capitalists and more, these women are shaping the future of artificial intelligence. They also serve as role models for the next generation of AI leaders, reflecting what a more inclusive AI community can and should look like.
Featured below are eight of the leading women in the field of artificial intelligence today.
Joy Buolamwini: Founder, Algorithmic Justice League
Joy Buolamwini has aptly been described as “the conscience of the A.I. revolution.”
Her pioneering work on algorithmic bias as a graduate student at MIT opened the world’s eyes to the racial and gender prejudices embedded in facial recognition systems. Amazon, Microsoft and IBM each suspended their facial recognition offerings this year as a result of Buolamwini’s research, acknowledging that the technology was not yet fit for public use. Buolamwini’s work is powerfully profiled in the new documentary Coded Bias.
Buolamwini stands at the forefront of a burgeoning movement to identify and address the social consequences of artificial intelligence technology, a movement she advances through her nonprofit Algorithmic Justice League.
Buolamwini on the battle against algorithmic bias: “When I started talking about this, in 2016, it was such a foreign concept. Today, I can’t go online without seeing some news article or story about a biased AI system. People are just now waking up to the fact that there is a problem. Awareness is good—and then that awareness needs to lead to action. That is the phase that we’re in.”
Claire Delaunay: VP Engineering, NVIDIA
From SRI to Google to Uber to NVIDIA, Claire Delaunay has held technical leadership roles at many of Silicon Valley’s most iconic organizations. She was also co-founder and engineering head at Otto, the pedigreed but ill-fated autonomous trucking startup helmed by Anthony Levandowski.
In her current role at NVIDIA, Delaunay is focused on building tools and platforms to enable the deployment of autonomous machines at scale.
Delaunay on the tradeoffs between working at a big company and a startup: “Some kinds of breakthroughs can only be accomplished at a big company, and other kinds of breakthroughs can only be accomplished at a startup. Startups are very good at deconstructing things and generating discontinuous big leaps forward. Big companies are very good at consolidating breakthroughs and building out robust technology foundations that enable future innovation.”
Rana el Kaliouby: CEO & Co-Founder, Affectiva
Rana el Kaliouby has dedicated her career to making AI more emotionally intelligent.
Kaliouby is credited with pioneering the field of Emotion AI. In 2009, she co-founded the startup Affectiva as a spinout from MIT to develop machine learning systems capable of understanding human emotions. Today, the company’s technology is used by 25% of the Fortune 500, including for media analytics, consumer behavioral research and automotive use cases.
Kaliouby on her big-picture vision: “My life’s work is about humanizing technology before it dehumanizes us.”
Daphne Koller: CEO & Founder, insitro
Daphne Koller’s wide-ranging career illustrates the symbiosis between academia and industry that is a defining characteristic of the field of artificial intelligence.
Koller has been a professor at Stanford since 1995, focused on machine learning. In 2012 she co-founded education technology startup Coursera with fellow Stanford professor and AI leader Andrew Ng. Coursera is today a $2.6 billion ed tech juggernaut.
Koller’s most recent undertaking may be her most ambitious yet. She is the founding CEO at insitro, a startup applying machine learning to transform pharmaceutical drug discovery and development. Insitro has raised roughly $250 million from Andreessen Horowitz and others and recently announced a major commercial partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb.
Koller on advice for those just starting out in the field of AI: “Pick an application of AI that really matters, that is really societally worthwhile—not all AI applications are—and then put in the hard work to truly understand that domain. I am able to build insitro today only because I spent 20 years learning biology. An area I might suggest to young people today is energy and the environment.”
Fei-Fei Li: Professor of Computer Science, Stanford University
Few individuals have left more of a mark on the world of AI in the twenty-first century than Fei-Fei Li.
As a young Princeton professor in 2007, Li conceived of and spearheaded the ImageNet project, a database of millions of labeled images that has changed the entire trajectory of AI. The prescient insight behind ImageNet was that massive datasets—more than particular algorithms—would be the key to unleashing AI’s potential. When Geoff Hinton and team debuted their neural network-based model trained on ImageNet at the 2012 ImageNet competition, the modern era of deep learning was born.
Li has since become a tenured professor at Stanford, served as Chief Scientist of AI/ML at Google Cloud, headed Stanford’s AI lab, joined the Board of Directors at Twitter, cofounded the prominent nonprofit AI4ALL, and launched Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute (HAI). Across her many leadership positions, Li has tirelessly advocated for a more inclusive, equitable and human approach to AI.
Li on why diversity in AI is so important: “Our technology is not independent of human values. It represents the values of the humans that are behind the design, development and application of the technology. So, if we’re worried about killer robots, we should really be worried about the creators of the technology. We want the creators of this technology to represent our values and represent our shared humanity.”
Anna Patterson: Founder & Managing Partner, Gradient Ventures
Anna Patterson has led a distinguished career developing and deploying AI products, both at large technology companies and at startups.
A long-time executive at Google, which she first joined in 2004, Patterson led artificial intelligence efforts for years as the company’s VP of Engineering. In 2017 she launched Google’s AI venture capital fund Gradient Ventures, where today she invests in early-stage AI startups.
Patterson serves on the board of a number of promising AI startups including Algorithmia, Labelbox and test.ai. She is also a board director at publicly-traded Square.
Patterson on one question she asks herself before investing in any AI startup: “Do I find myself constantly thinking about their vision and mission?”
Daniela Rus: Director, MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL)
Daniela Rus is one of the world’s leading roboticists.
She is an MIT professor and the first female head of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL), one of the largest and most prestigious AI research labs in the world. This makes her part of a storied lineage: previous directors of CSAIL (and its predecessor labs) over the decades have included AI legends Marvin Minsky, J.C.R. Licklider and Rodney Brooks.
Rus’ groundbreaking research has advanced the state of the art in networked collaborative robots (robots that can work together and communicate with one another), self-reconfigurable robots (robots that can autonomously change their structure to adapt to their environment), and soft robots (robots without rigid bodies).
Rus on a common misconception about AI: “It is important for people to understand that AI is nothing more than a tool. Like any other tool, it is neither intrinsically good nor bad. It is solely what we choose to do with it. I believe that we can do extraordinarily positive things with AI—but it is not a given that that will happen.”
Shivon Zilis: Board Member, OpenAI; Project Director, Neuralink
Shivon Zilis has spent time on the leadership teams of several companies at AI’s bleeding edge: OpenAI, Neuralink, Tesla, Bloomberg Beta.
She is the youngest board member at OpenAI, the influential research lab behind breakthroughs like GPT-3. At Neuralink—Elon Musk’s mind-bending effort to meld the human brain with digital machines—Zilis works on high-priority strategic initiatives in the office of the CEO.
Zilis on her attitude toward new technology development: “I’m astounded by how often the concept of ‘building moats’ comes up. If you think the technology you’re building is good for the world, why not laser focus on expanding your tech tree as quickly as possible versus slowing down and dividing resources to impede the progress of others?”
