what does the grooming process look like for stellina and kep?
my 'process" for grooming is very much what i would call 'poor man's dog training':
get a silicone lick-mat
apply peanut butter very generously
slap that bad boy onto the front of the fridge/kitchen appliances at dog eye-level
groom while they're distracted
i start this process day 1 as puppies and continue it through their whole lives. should i actually be putting in the effort to actually train them to stand still and quietly for grooming without the need for food distraction? yes. do i? no i'm lazy.
or if you're asking about like, what grooming i'm actually doing:
hair: i do an all-over brush at least once a week (should do twice but again, lazy and not needed). takes like 20-30 mins. my 'schedule' for brushing is basically this:
Tumblr media
red areas (behind ears, arm/legpits) are high-friction and very prone to matting. these you have to brush out at least once a week, no exceptions, or you will get mats. this is also very sensitive skin so it's good to desensitize them to brushing as much as you can.
yellow areas should be brushed at least once weekly to comb out any tangles and debris, but are less prone to matting.
and then the rest of them i'll brush through but that's about it, that part pretty much never tangles.
i normally just use a pin brush and slicker brush, and a metal comb for the yellow/red areas. sometimes an undercoat rake if they're very sheddy.
collies are 'dry' dogs - they don't really drool, and they don't have the oily waterproof coat that breeds like a lab or hound does, so they're naturally low-odor without much of a 'doggy' smell. i'll bathe every 4-8 weeks depending on what the weather's like and if their skin seems like it's getting cruddy. 2-3 times a year i'll take them to a groomer to have them do a 'deshed' treatment where they really blow out the undercoat, because this makes a huge difference in keeping them comfortable in the heat, and in how much hair i have to vacuum.
for stellina i've also been getting an outline trim (shortening up the yellow areas on the pic with long feathering) in spring and fall, it just keeps things cleaner and it makes a huge difference in the amount of time i have to spend brushing.
feet: i dremel nails every week, same PB-mat method as with brushing. every week is probably overkill but i think it's good desensitization and also i hate long nails on dogs so i'm a bit anal about it. collies tend to get long hair on the feet/between the pads, some people like the 'grinch feet' look but personally i fucking hate it so every 4-6 weeks i just take round-tip scissors and clean them up.
other: the rest i do as needed, e.g. if i see any wax/debris in the ears i'll do a clean with OTC ear cleaner and a cotton ball. one of stellina's eyes tends to be teary, so about once a week i take a warm washcloth and wipe them down to prevent tear stains. and then i vacuum my house weekly, sometimes every 2 weeks if it's not too bad.
honestly i'm writing a lot but what i've listed here is way less than 1 hour a week on average, collies IMO are not particularly high-grooming needs dogs (compared to, say, a doodle or OES that needs daily brushing and regular professional grooming). i find the grooming and hair totally manageable. i honestly prefer dealing with long hair because it tends to clump together on the ground, rather than short hairs that fly and scatter into everything. people tend to see roughs and go 'oh no way too much hair' but like, it is super manageable as long as you've got half an hour at some point each week to brush your dog. i'm very obsessive about my pets being 'neat' and i do fine.
sorry for the incredibly overly-long answer to your very simple ask lmao

Thank you for the tag @hotnerdywizard , this is such a cute game 🫶
1. Are you named after anyone? Nope! I'm the one and only lol
2. When was the last time you cried? A few weeks ago, I think. I can't be sure. I also cry a lot while consuming media so it may have been more recent than that 😅
3. Do you have kids? No human children, but I have two doggo babies!
4. What sports do you /have you played? I used to box / kickbox, but am taking a break from it for health reasons. When I was younger I played netball and basketball. I did some horse riding but I now prefer to hang out with them without working them.
5. Do you use sarcasm? Yes, and I love it, almost as much as I love puns.
6. What's the first thing you notice about people? Whether they are warm, actually. That comes out in a variety of ways eg how they behave, whether they smile, eye contact, tone, voice etc
7. What's your eye colour? Black (very dark brown)
8. Any talents? I love, love, love writing. I think that's probably my main talent 😅 I'm struggling to think of more. I guess I'm also good with animals.
9. Where were you born? In East Asia.
10. What are your hobbies? I love reading and writing, mainly prose but also poetry. I'm trying to write a novel but the Gale brainworms have been consuming me so I'm mainly writing fics at the moment. I'm a gamer, though I'm currently hyperfixated on BG3 (ie Gale) and can't move on lol. I love spending time with my dogs and I also volunteer at a horse sanctuary every week.
11. Do you have any pets? I have two dogs - a lurcher and a greyhound. I used to have a cat but he passed away a little over a year ago. I adore them all.
12. How tall are you? 5'2"
13. Favourite subject in school? Philosophy and English Literature. What I wouldn't give now to be able to study Sylvia Plath!!!
14. Dream job? I'd love to be on the writing team of a narrative driven video game (hire me, Larian). I also wouldn't mind being a horse groomer/carer.
I'd like to tag @madforhoran @dolceaspidenera @practicallydeadinside-blog @orehuna @meishuu
No pressure to play of course!

GALTx eNews: Resolutions For Your Hound's New Year
This far into the new year, most of us have given up on our personal resolutions. Not to worry. We have ideas for hound related resolutions that you can easily achieve:
1) Schedule your hound's annual check up to review their vaccination status, check their weight, get a nail trim, and have an examination.
2) Begin a healthy dental routine for your hound that includes brushing at least a few times a week. If you already know your hound needs a dental and have been putting it off, get it scheduled with your vet.
3) Talk to your vet regarding preventative medications and make sure your hound is getting what they need to protect against internal parasites, ticks, and fleas (and all the diseases they carry).
4) If your hound needs to lose weight as much as you do, make changes to their diet to help them get trim. Maybe a little less kibble or fewer treats every day will do the trick. Seniors might benefit from switching to a senior food and, if recommended by a vet, might benefit from supplements.
5) Make sure your hound's nails are getting trimmed. Pick a day each month that you'll take a look and trim as needed or book a repeating visit to a groomer.
6) Inspect your yard, fence, and gate to identify any repairs you need to make to help keep your hound from escaping.
7) Inspect your hound's tags to make sure the contact information is still current and legible and while you're looking, make sure your collars, leashes, and harnesses are all in good shape.
8) If you have moved since adopting from GALT, send your updated contact information to us at [email protected]. Your GALT hound has a tag with our phone number on it and we want to be able to find you if someone calls saying they found your hound.
9) Check with your microchip company to make sure your contact information is still correct and, the next time you're in, have your vet check to make sure your hound's chip is still readable.
10) Establish an exercise routine with your hound that will benefit you both! If you're not walking regularly, start with a couple of walks a week. If you're already walking, bump up the scheduled frequency. Increase your hound's activity level gradually to make sure they don't over do it.
11) Start teaching your hound one new skill like stay, leave it, or come. These basic skills can be critical to averting an emergency.
12) Get more involved with the Greyhound community by joining a local Greyhound walk or sharing your hound photos in a social media group.
You don't have to do it all at once. Consider adding just one item to your calendar each month. You'll have a full month to get to it and at the end of the year, you'll have done everything on this list!

hi there! i dig your blog! was wondering what some of your favorite explicit brudick fics might be or what your favorite kinks are for them! sorry if that’s a bizarre question lol
ooooooooo good question, funny enough i'm really bad about bookmarking fics, which makes me bad at recommending them by extension. (trying to get better about that)
adding a cut bc um. i love them. <-(talks too much)
I love brudick fics that go all the way to the dark end of things, give me archive warnings galore!! i love robin dick ones, esp combined with possessiveness and/or bruce having this idealized versions of things. bruce being Delusional is so fun to me, whether that being "it's fine, he's not a boy he's my partner" or "he loves me, don't mind the tears" etc etc, just whatever groomer justification imaginable. and i can go any which way with how dick feels. dick fighting every step of the way but still Belonging to bruce, or dick really thinking he wants this but he doesn't understand what he's asking for, either way he's in desperate need for therapy after.
hhh. kinks. there's probably some that show in my rambly paragraph but i wanna make a list too
1) whatever "this is 100% bdsm disguised as training" is called
2) virginityyyyyyyy...... toxic concept irl but very fun in porn
3) SECRETS. anything can be a kink if u believe. bruces secret boywife...
4) Possessiveness. also, bruce sure seems composed but if he goes a week without having dick around he goes insane. [bite bite] "he must be Mine forever" etc etc. the titans think bruce is just straight up beating him and dicks "i don't mind, it helps him feel better" attitude does NOT help things. bruce def has several trackers in dicks body. he doesn't use them for sending backup or helping him or anything, theyre just for stalking <3
5) the cyclical bruce treats him well, does smth absolutely abhorrent, they make up, bruce gradually lowers the bar for what "treating him well" means until dick treats anything above murder as a show of kindness. can u tell that i like (fictional) unhealthy relationships.
6) bruce absolutely wrecking dick and still expecting dick to take care of him after. bc bruce is a momma's boy fr, and dick is Absolutely his mom-wife. u know the het couple dynamic of the husband expecting the wife to always do shit for him? they're like that. mom/wife/baby, dick really does it all smh
ah. my list has turned into rambly paragraphs. my autistic swag besmirches me.

10 At-Home Pet Grooming Tips
Tumblr media
Tips To Groom Your Pet At Home
Groom your Pet like Pro. Here’s How
Grooming your pet is the most important part of owning a pet. While it's okay to send your pet to a professional pet groomer once in a while, you may find it financially impossible to do so regularly. Here are some basic tips that will help you groom your pet at home.
1.       Make Your Pet Comfortable
The first step before you start grooming is to get your pet acquainted with the whole grooming process. Pets, in general, do not like to be groomed so you need to calm down your pet before you start any grooming. You can keep grooming session short initially and reward them with a treat once the grooming is over. Try to restrain them as little as possible and if they show signs of stress or discomfort then stop and try the next day. You can also try to groom them at the end of the day after taking them for a long walk.
Tumblr media
2.       Invest In Good Quality Grooming Tools
If you regularly groom your pet at home then you should buy some good quality grooming tools. Grooming kits are available in the market that includes clippers, trimmers, nail clippers, brushes, combs and scissors which will make it easier for you to groom your pet at home.
3.       Use The Right Brush
Before you bath your dog, you need to brush its coat to free it from mats and tangles and also to remove dead hair. The frequency of brushing your dog depends on its coat type. If your dog has a thick and long fur then you have to brush it regularly and if it has a short coat then it needs to be brushed just once a month. Different types of brushes such as bristle brush for short coat dogs, pin brush for medium to long coat dogs are available, so make sure that you use the right brush for the right coat.
4.       Use Good Quality Shampoos And Conditioners
Regular shampoo and conditioners for humans may be toxic for your dog, so make sure that you use shampoos and conditioners for dogs while bathing your pet. Good quality shampoos and conditioners for dogs help in retaining the shine on your dog’s coats and also keeps their coats healthy. If your dog has sensitive skin or allergies then consult a vet before using any shampoos and conditioners.
5.       Superior Quality Clippers
Your dog’s fur needs to be trimmed depending on their breed or coat type. Some breeds with double coat need to be frequently trimmed as compared to dogs with short coats. Once you finish bathing your dog, make sure you dry it well using a dry towel or a blow dryer before you start trimming your dog’s fur. Make sure that you use superior quality clippers to trim your dog.
Tumblr media
6.       Thorough Checkup Of Eyes And Ears
You need to perform a complete checkup of your pets’ eyes to check for any inflammation. Ear infections are very common in dogs so make sure that you check your dog’s ears for any redness, inflammations, smell or discharge. In case you notice any of these, then you need to take your pet to the vet.
7.       Trim Your Pets’ Paws
You need to trim the excess hair that grows around your pets’ paws otherwise, dirt and debris could get stuck inside the paw which will cause them pain and make it difficult for them to walk. Trimming your dog’s paws not only helps to improve their traction while walking but also makes it easier for you to clean their paw pad. Use special grooming scissors for this purpose and make sure that they are sharp because you want to cut it as swiftly as possible. However, try not to cut too close to the paw pad as it may hurt your dog.
Tumblr media
8.       Clip The Nails
Grooming doesn’t end at just bathing and brushing. Your dog’s nails also need to be trimmed every three to four weeks as long nails might cause certain problems like difficulty in walking or running or can even hurt your dog. Start by gently holding your dog’s paw and slowly cutting the nail one at a time. Reward your pet with a treat after trimming each nail to encourage it to remain calm during the whole trimming process.  If you are apprehensive to use a nail clipper then you can also use a nail grinder. A nail grinder is a less stressful way to trim your dog’s nails as it gradually grinds the length of the nail.
Tumblr media
9.       Brush Their Teeth
Dental hygiene is one of the most important for your pets but is often neglected. Poor dental health can lead to other health problems for your pet so make sure that you brush your dog’s teeth at least once a week to maintain good oral hygiene. Toothpaste and toothbrushes specially designed for dogs are easily available in the market so use those and avoid using human toothpaste or toothbrushes as they could harm your dog.
10.   Use Only Pet Specific Products
Pets have sensitive skin so make sure that you use only products that are specifically designed for pets. Avoid using products meant for humans on your pet as they may not suit your pets. For example, use shampoos for dogs while bathing your dog as human shampoos are harmful to them. Also, you shouldn’t use products meant for cats on your dog or vice versa.
So now that you are equipped with all the tips, you can easily groom your pet at home. Grooming your pet at home is beneficial to both you and your dog. It not only saves you expenses of visiting a professional pet groomer but also establishes a good bond between you and your pet.

Affordable Pet Grooming Tips: How to Save Money on Your Furry Friend's Care
Tumblr media
Pet grooming can be expensive, especially if you have a pet with a long or high-maintenance coat. However, there are a number of affordable ways to groom your pet at home. Here are a few tips:
Brush your pet regularly. Brushing helps to remove dirt, loose hair, and mats, which can make your pet's coat look and feel healthier. It also helps to distribute natural oils throughout the coat, which can help to prevent dryness and itching.
Bathe your pet regularly. How often you need to bathe your pet will depend on their breed and lifestyle. However, a good rule of thumb is to bathe them every 4-6 weeks. Be sure to use a shampoo that is specifically designed for pets, as human shampoo can be too harsh for their skin.
Trim your pet's nails regularly. Long nails can be uncomfortable and even painful for pets, so it's important to trim them regularly. You can do this yourself using a pair of pet nail trimmers, or you can take your pet to a groomer or veterinarian.
Clean your pet's ears regularly. Pets' ears can be prone to wax buildup and infection, so it's important to clean them regularly. You can do this using a pet-safe ear cleaner.
Brush your pet's teeth regularly. Just like humans, pets need to have their teeth brushed regularly to prevent plaque and tartar buildup. You can use a pet-safe toothbrush and toothpaste.
If you're not comfortable grooming your pet yourself, there are a number of affordable grooming options available. Many pet stores offer self-service grooming stations, where you can bathe and groom your pet for a fraction of the cost of taking them to a professional groomer. You can also find mobile groomers who will come to your home and groom your pet for you.
Additional Tips for Affordable Pet Grooming:
Ask your veterinarian for tips. Your veterinarian can give you specific advice on how to groom your pet at home, based on their breed and individual needs.
Look for coupons and deals. Many pet stores and groomers offer coupons and discounts on their services. You can also find online deals on pet grooming supplies.
Groom your pet during the off-season. Grooming prices are often lower during the off-season, which is typically the winter months. Trade grooming services with a friend or neighbor. If you and a friend or neighbor both have pets, you can trade grooming services to save money. Read More
By following these tips, you can keep your pet looking and feeling their best without breaking the bank.

Why You Really Shouldn't Share a Bed With Your Dog During Winter

Why You Really Shouldn't Share a Bed With Your Dog During Winter
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Matty Anderson / EyeEmGetty Images
Dog owners have been warned not to let dogs sleep in the same bed as them during the winter months, amid concerns over health risks.
Many pet parents routinely share their bed with animals, but the experts at Happy Beds have said the habit “poses health risks” as pet dander can potentially be harmful to your respiratory system.
Excessive shedding in dogs can last up the 3-4 weeks, usually ending in November. “The loose hairs in the bedding can cause a lot of irritation to not only yourself as the owner but your pet too. This fur can also harbour bugs and germs that can be passed onto you as you sleep,” the team at Happy Beds told Lancashire Telegraph.
“It’s commonly misconstrued that fur is the main cause of these risks but it is in fact animal dander that can cause serious health problems.”
Tumblr media
Cavan ImagesGetty Images
It might be tempting to let your furry friend sleep beside you when the weather is chilly, but it’s much safer to ensure they have their own pet bed. Pet dander can be inhaled easily through the air, causing potential breathing issues.
“Loose hair in the bed can heavily impact the quality of sleep too as breathing in this polluted air can add strain to the respiratory system causing the body to not fully rest at night.”
If you are worried about pet dander in the home, the experts recommend brushing your pet daily to remove excess fur, purchasing an air humidifier to aid breathing, and taking your pet to a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks to stay on top of shedding.

Wordle 236 4/6*
⬛⬛⬛🟩⬛
⬛⬛🟨🟩⬛
🟨⬛🟩🟩🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
So we have some sort of varmint* living under part of our house. We thought the entrance/exit to the forbidden lands was under some lattice under our front porch. It had been buried by shoveled snow for a few weeks**, but lately Boomer's been increasingly insistent on going after whatever's under there.
In a bad way.
Lately we've been taking the dogs outside the front door - we've got some gutter issues above the back door (our usual egress for dog walking activities) and there are often large icicles above and a sheet of ice below (from dripping icicles), sometimes even blocking the door from opening.
Anyhow every walk, Boomer bolts outside and down the steps.
And he's strong. So my wife is unwilling to take him down the steps. Which is fine - I'm not complaining about that.
Anyhow a couple days ago my wife was coming home with some groceries (through the front door) and the pups greeted her as they always do. But Boomer had a toy in his mouth and dropped it. And it bounced out the open door. And Boomer went to follow it. And then caught the scent of the varmint. And bolted down the stairs and under the front steps, where he proceeded to yelp, bellow, bark, and howl at whatever he smelled.
While we were distracted by Boomer's antics, Riley got out too but she was more just rooting him on from the sidelines and much easier to catch.
We got Riley back inside with the help of some bacon***, but Boomer was not interested. Somehow or another we finally got him out and upstairs when we noticed his paws were FILTHY. I just recently purchased a paw cleaner - a little cup with silicone bristles that you can fill with warm water and dunk their paws in. (Thanks for the idea@julierthanyou!) But he was much too dirty for that.
I picked him up and carried him to the bathroom and plunked him down in the tub. We washed him which he was no fan of (how do the groomers do it?), and finally got him out, much to his relief.
Anyhow he didn't learn his lesson (because OMG he HATED the bathtub) and he's been continuing to bolt down the stairs. And thanks to that, I think I pulled a muscle (or two!) in my leg and I'm just annoyed that I can't get him to stop.
Puppy tax in the form of a still of Boomer from a video a few weeks ago.
Tumblr media
---
* Based on the droppings I've seen, it's either a possum, raccoon, skunk, or a fox. All animals seen within 50 feet of my property. Yes, in urban Chicago. Yes, even the fox.
** In the course of pulling Boomer out from under the steps we saw a big space in the lattice under the stairs that offers much easier ingress/egress to the forbidden lands under my front sun room - it just requires a bit of a hop or a climb.
*** Beggin' strips. Dogs don't know it's not bacon, so PLEASE DON'T TELL THEM.

Professor Peach, do you have any advice on how my cyndaquil could build some confidence. Cyndaquil are typically a timid species, and my cyndaquil is especially so because it is self-conscience of the attention it gets as a shiny pokemon. Everyone either wants to buy them or trade them off of me (I refuse always). Cyndaquil dislikes the attention but wants to spend more time out of the pokeball with me and wants to be more confident. How else can I help my cyndaquil?
Well luckily the shiny colouration for your Pokemon is lighter than the ordinary colour. There is a very simple fix for this, to reduce the attention on your Pokemon and hopefully give them the space to breathe and get more acclimatised to others. Take them to a groomers, ask them to dye the reddish fur of your partner. It’s a pretty natural henna dye, not permanent, and a trained groomer will be able to apply it so the Pokemon’s natural markings don’t become altered or unnatural looking. It’s something I would discuss with your partner, and of course you’d have to reapply they dye every 4-6 weeks, go back to the groomer and get a top up. I know it seems silly but some Pokemon don’t mind it, and this will almost camouflage your shiny Pokemon to look and feel a little less like the focus of everyone’s attentions.
Along side this, I’d suggest taking your Pokemon to less crowded areas, sit for a bit and see if they make any friends in the wild, keep doing this until they seem to strike up a bond with whatever Pokemon it may be that they seem fond of. Might take a while but there’s always at the least one perfect friend out there for your buddy. I’d then suggest trying to befriend this Pokemon. At some point they may like you too, and want to join you, I’d suggest if you can handle another partner, to catch it if it is happy with the decision. It’s fine if they don’t want to be caught, a wild Pokemon friend is just as good! This one true friend will boost your Pokemon’s confidence in new groups, or gatherings in town, having someone there to talk to and interact with that isn’t a complete stranger is comforting for just about any species, and they may become brave due to how their new friend is interacting with the others. On average a shy personality will latch to a more confident one, it’s not 100% but there is a bit of a pattern there that we tend to take into consideration. The confidence from the new species will help, I promise.
You just have to be patient with them, and try to encourage their little personalities to shine. Do keep in mind that sometimes, just like people, Pokemon can just not be into big groups or lots of talking. It’s ok to be a little less interested in those things, they may never be the social butterfly type, but there are things to be done to help them at least be somewhat calmer in groups. I do think removing the look of a shiny Pokemon will help drastically though so look into it if you can.

I might take this down later tonight so if you want to screenshot it so you can use my words against me like in 2 months again go the fuck ahead but I've heard so many anons going on my account that I will not be responding to because well I really couldn't give less of a fuck. Anons are pissed off at me for multiple reasons. While its 1am and I'm kind of drunk, I feel like I can quickly explain myself.
⚠️ Stop reading now if you really couldn't give a damn ⚠️
➖Okay so I've seen a lot of people pissed off at me for writing for c!Schlatt. Now I completely agree that you can be mad at Schlatt, he's said some fucked up things but to be attacking his fans and the people who are a fan of his character, no that's fucked up and if you're a follower of mine and hate on Schlatt fans, you can kindly fuck off, you're no follower of mine. Look I'm sorry but I'm not gonna stop writing for a character that I enjoy because the internet isnt a fucking perfect picket white fence.
Another thing related to Schlatt is JustAMinx or the chuckle sandwich crew in general but I'll just talk about Minx. I'm still gonna write for her since I genuinely enjoy her content. Do I like that she's friends with Kacey? Absolutely not but Minx is an adult and it's up to her to make her own choices. Do I wish she'd not support Kacey, absolutely but once again she's an adult and its up to her to be responsible when looking at who she's to be friends with
➖Okay number 2, my dress pictures or just the pictures I post of my irl life in general. I've been getting a lot of hate anons lately that are mad at me for wearing a dress because people think I'm faking being non-binary for clout, shut the fuck up. I can wear my packer and binder and I'm still gonna be non-binary, what's so different about me wearing a fucking dress that shows a little cleavage? Grow the fuck up
Another few anons I've been getting are about my weight in the photos, people claiming they're worried about my health, no bro you're just being a dick. Look I am afab and I have a little thing called a uterus, now something that this uterus causes me to do is bloating, but I also have a thing called tits. Now I dont know if you knew this but porn stars may have huge fucking tits and no fat but you know what that is? That's surgeries and dieting to one piece of food every week. Now do I feel like doing any of that? Fuck no, I'm confident in my body and I'll wear whatever the fuck I want no matter my size.
So here's for you fucks:
Tumblr media
➖Number 3, some people are mad at me for keeping myself private? I made a post like 2 months ago I think now telling people that they dont know me, they only know what I wish to tell them and that I like to live a private life. The reason for this post? Because I had an anon send me a ask of my exact location and birth name, I am safe dont worry but the second that happened, I felt like I needed to set some kind of boundary because that was fucking creepy especially because at that time, I was living with my friend and her two year old daughter.
In that post I said "I care about all of you guys but I dont know you and you dont know me, what I say is what I choose to tell you guys." People took that is me referring to everyone as a number, once again my words being taken out of context
➖Number 4, look I'm not a licensed therapist so stop treating me like I am one. I'm human to and need my breaks. You can message me and send me as ask if you need somewhere to vent but how about we dont get pissed off at me if I dont answer immediately or if my advice isn't good enough. I dont have all the answers, I try to help with the knowledge that I have.
Also please put a trigger warning at the start of your ask, it just helps me be able to filter everything better and also stops people if they skim read and might be put into a bad place, it's just so helpful to do and it takes two seconds
➖Number five, calling me a groomer for interacting with minors...
*inhale* WHAT?! So you're telling me that me supporting talented writers who happen to be minors and being someone they can talk to and be like a parental figure to is me being a groomer? Huh?!
I'm sorry but that is completely bullshit, want to see a groomer? Look at someone like James Charles or Onison, get your head out of your ass
➖Number 6, the one that pisses me off the most. "You dont write enough", do you really think in any kind of small pea brain mind that people being rude to me about not writing enough is gonna make me want to write more? I took a break from writing in the first place because people were being dicks to me about it, saying oh you spelt this wrong, or this is so cringy, or stop making the person ooc.
I write for myself and I'm gonna be honest, I have many finished drafts and fic ideas but I dont want to post them because well I'm tired of being shitted on for every minor mistake.
➖look I'm not a perfect person and have never tried to come across as one. I fuck up and I'm sure you do too. At this rate with all the hate anons recently, I'm very close to turning off anon asks or just asks in general. But I don't want to do that because my anon asks are for people who want to vent but want to stay anonymous and I feel like that would take away that security of I turned it off.
Just let people exist and get your head out of your ass

@flannelmoth I agree that average pet owners need more info! Typically fur care is not that hard if you do it right and keep up on it. The problems start when you neglect it for a long time or do not do a thorough job. My time working in a grooming salon as a bather really showed me all levels of brushing from matted head to tail and perfectly maintained.
These are the tools I use for Aayla’s coat. Left to right is a metal comb, coat king, bristle brush and grooming shears.
The most important item here is the metal comb. If you have any pet that has a medium to long coat you need a good comb. That is the main thing I use to get out undercoat. This goes for non-shedding dogs with hair as well. You need to comb down to the skin. When I comb through all of Aayla’s coat without the comb getting caught in anything I know she is at her best.
Next I have the coat king. BE AWARE THAT THIS HAS BLADES ON THE INSIDE OF THE CURVED TEETH. You CAN cut a dog with these. You can also bruise/irritate the skin if you push too hard. You can over brush and damage the healthy coat with this. Why do I have it then? It is amazing for breaking up mats. (Those blades cut through them) and pulling out undercoat, impacted or not. I mostly use these to only break up mats, or if Aayla’s hind quarters start to get impacted. Otherwise I don’t use those too much. I used to use this ALL the time until I start noticing that it can have a lot of negatives if used too much or too hard. I’m found this to be great for breeds like huskys, thick furred labs, shepherds, aussies, goldens and those with similar coats. Does nothing for your shorter hair coated dogs, and I imagine would be coat damaging if used for anything more than a mat buster on dogs with hair type coats.
The bristle brush. I use it frequently, and so does the general public. The general public uses it as their main go to brush. It is not going to keep your doodle from getting matted 9use a comb) or get the undercoat out of your golden (use a comb) and its not doing a lot for your labs, shepherds and so on....IMO. I strictly use it to sometimes help break up tangles (not mats) in Aayla’s pants and leg feathers, and to help fluff up her coat for trimming, or to brush it back down after blow drying. I am not using it to remove coat or prevent mats.
The grooming shears I use for trimming her up. Pretty explanatory. If you don’t know what you’re doing, please have a groomer trim your dog. The wounds I’ve seen have been pretty terrible from owners trying to cut their dogs fur. Don’t cut mats out with scissors, they need to be shaved with clippers. The skin sometimes gets suck INTO the mats, so you may think you’re cutting fur when you cut through skin.
Well those are my tools, here is Aayla’s grooming process.
(If you have lab/husky/shepherd with impacted coat or a lot of shedding, sometimes blow drying before bath can be helpful. But everyone may hate you when you do this...so play it by ear unless you have one at home)
Find any and all mats first before washing. Remove with coat king (not around ears though) or shave. If coat is impacted, use coat king and comb to break up the impacted coat before washing.
Wash with good DOG shampoo, little DOG conditioner mixed in with shampoo. the SCRUB. Get down to the skin.
Completely rinse everything out
Blow dry, high power. Loose coat will start flying out AFTER the coat is almost completely dry. For long hair dogs I keep the dryer a little bit father away so I am not matting the fur. Once it dries more, I will bring it in close to try and blow out the loose coat. ((Blow drying make it so your dog doesn’t smell like wet dog after!))
Once 100% dry, I will use bristle brush to get any tangles out from the blow drying
Then I start with the comb and work through the entire coat until the comb is sliding nicely through everywhere.
Once again smooth out coat with bristle brush
Trim if needed.
VOILA. Clean doggo
All breeds can requires different grooming processes, talk with your groomer and I’m sure they would love to show you the best way to take care of your dog’s coat!
Some other thoughts:
-High velocity (not your human hair dryer) blow drying is the BEST tool for deshedding hands down.
-Furminators only work well on short coated dogs. Just like the coat king, be careful. You can over brush. You can irritate the skin.
-The more consistent you are with brushing, the less of a hassle it is. Long coat, means you have to brush more. If you have a doodle, brush it A LOT, with a COMB, TO THE SKIN. If you don’t want to brush your dog with hair type, then please just shave it or pay someone to brush it correctly weekly in between groomings. Aayla I do a fast brush about every week, and a serious brushing/washing about ever 4-6 weeks.
-During shedding season you most likely will have to brush more! (Duh?)
-Mats most often happen behind ears and in armpits.
-Shave mats. Don’t cut. (Repeating this)
-Remove mats before letting the dog get wet. Water makes mats get tighter and they’re harder to remove.
-Fish oil does wonders to make a coat shiny and soft!

Why Does My Dog Cough After Drinking Water?
Tumblr media
Few sights are as hypnotic as watching a dog’s tongue curl as he laps water from his favorite dish.
Naturally, like any of us, sometimes our dogs drink too fast or they are temporarily distracted, and a few drops go down the wrong way. You’ve started noticing a disturbing trend, though. It seems that every time your dog pauses for a bit of liquid refreshment, the action is followed immediately by the sounds of coughing and gagging. If a dog coughs after drinking water consistently, there may be more to it than rapid or reckless swallowing can explain away.
At least three medical issues might be the reason a dog coughs after drinking water, all of them involving the trachea:
Kennel cough
Hypoplastic trachea
Collapsed trachea
Each of these conditions can affect any dog, but there are notable differences and distinctions that we can draw between them to determine what course of action a veterinarian may take to alleviate a dog’s suffering. Age, breed, size and associated symptoms are all significant factors.
If your dog coughs after drinking water, trachea issues might be at play.
First, where is the trachea? What does it do?
The trachea, or windpipe, is a tube composed of cartilage, muscle and tissue, located between the throat and the lungs. Through it, air passes from the nose or mouth into and out of the lungs. It shares its entry point into the body with the esophagus. A small flap called the epiglottis closes when food or water enters, leading it toward the digestive tract, and opens for breathing. When the trachea’s structural integrity is compromised, so too is its functionality.
Whether the trouble is irritation and swelling during respiratory illnesses, a fault present from a young age due to genetic abnormalities, or one which develops with advancing age, a weak trachea prevents dogs from getting the oxygen they need. Since dogs sweat very little, panting provides not only fresh air but also heat relief, making the trachea critically important during the warmer parts of the year or during intense exercise.
Now, let’s further examine those three reasons a dog coughs after drinking water.
1. Kennel cough in dogs
Also known as infectious canine tracheobronchitis, kennel cough in dogs is the least serious reason why a dog coughs after drinking water. Kennel cough is basically the common cold for canines. Like any communicable disease, it spreads most efficiently in places where there are a number of dogs in close quarters. From the dog park to the groomer, and from boarding facilities to veterinarians’ offices, kennel cough can affect any breed of dog at any age.
The major symptom of this mild respiratory infection is a cough that sounds like a goose honking. The more the dog coughs, the more irritated and inflamed the trachea becomes. In a multi-pet household, a dog with kennel cough should be isolated from other dogs and their bowls cleaned and disinfected. Kennel cough tends to pass within a couple of weeks, and any coughing with it.
2. Hypoplastic trachea
If a dog coughs after drinking water, especially if that dog is a young puppy, it could signal a more serious health issue. A hypoplastic trachea is a genetic abnormality. “Hypoplastic” means “underdeveloped,” and usually refers to the rings of cartilage that give the trachea its shape. The effect of this inherited condition is that the windpipe does not develop to its full size or width. This disorder primarily affects puppies from short-muzzled breeds, technically referred to as “brachycephalic.”
Breeds most at risk for hypoplastic trachea include the Boston Terrier, English Bulldog and Pug. Symptoms depend on the extent to which the puppy’s airway is narrowed by the condition. These dogs are already known, as they age, to snore, snort or breathe more heavily; with a hypoplastic trachea, symptoms like these can begin showing up as early as five or six months of age. Additional symptoms to watch out for in flat-faced puppies include low energy, along with rapid weight gain due to limited ability to exercise.
On its own, a mild case, where the trachea’s diameter is not substantially affected, may pass completely unnoticed and undiagnosed. In some dogs, the narrow trachea can be a symptom of brachycephalic airway syndrome, in which the abbreviated length of the dog’s skull causes other cranial abnormalities, such as smaller nostrils, which further restrict a dog’s oxygen intake.
3. Tracheal collapse in dogs
Where evidence of an underdeveloped trachea tends to arise quite early in life, symptoms of a collapsing trachea have a much later onset and tend to affect a different subset of dogs. This is a degenerative condition in which the trachea loses structural integrity over time. Imagine slowly flattening a roll of toilet paper and you have a decent image of what happens to the dog’s windpipe. As the airway narrows, it becomes progressively more difficult for the dog to take in sufficient air.
Symptoms of a collapsing trachea tend to appear in middle age or seniority, which for these long-lived small dog breeds may be anywhere from the ages of 4-6 years or later. Similar to kennel cough and hypoplastic tracheas, the hallmark of this disorder is that honking cough, accompanied by a gagging noise. For small dogs who have been energetic and perky throughout life, a loss of energy or getting tired after very little exertion may be more alarming signs of a weakening trachea.
Anything with the word “collapse” or “collapsing” in it sounds dire, but in many cases, this is a very slowly developing health issue. It is most frequently seen in Yorkshire Terriers, but it is common across a range of small and toy dog breeds. Along with Yorkies, tracheal collapse can also affect Chihuahuas, Lhasa Apsos, Pomeranians, Toy Poodles and Pugs.
Management of tracheal abnormalities in dogs
So, if your dog coughs after drinking water, don’t panic. Kennel cough tends to last only a couple of weeks. If the dog is a short-muzzled puppy or an older small or toy breed, it is worth consulting a veterinarian about the possibility of a hypoplastic or collapsed trachea. Depending on how narrow the puppy’s windpipe is and the rate at which it is collapsing, afflicted dogs may be able to live out their normal lives with very few alterations.
Excess weight or obesity puts additional strain on oxygen intake, so it is crucial to reduce that strain by not overfeeding at-risk dogs. Dogs with leashes attached to their collars, especially ones who tug on their leashes, may benefit from switching to a harness to limit unintentional wear and tear on their neck and throat. In cases where tracheal collapse is severe, management can be more costly and may involve either medication to manage symptoms or surgery to reinforce the trachea.

Trixie Grooming glove
Bio-Groom Shampoo
Andis Nail grinder
Tropiclean Ear Wash
Cotton ball or Petkin Pet Wipes
Step by step guide for grooming Labrador Retriever
Step 1 - Bathing
They don’t need to be bathed often. But only when it is necessary. Frequent bathing can lead to dry skin and stripping of essential oils from their skin.

 Step 2 - Brushing
Brushing Labrador is an uphill task for their groomer. As they need to be brushed 3-4 times a week. Sometimes while they shed a lot, they need to be brushed every day.
Start with spraying detangling spray, as it makes grooming a dense coat breed easier.
Now take a slicker brush and move into circular motion over the coat then against the hair growth to remove loose hair.
Now brush the coat in the direction of hair growth to remove the dead hair.
With the help of a steel comb, comb near the ears, tail, under the belly, and neck.
Once the tangle and knots are removed massage with the grooming glove in the direction of hair growth as the last step.

Trimming their nails is necessary, as it helps them walk correctly and also saves them from any pain. Thus, with the nail grinder, just trim the tips, not the deep cuts
