As a writer, it’s hard to know which resources are actually useful and which ones are just a fad. “You have to use this software to outline your book!” “This is the only word processor you should use to write your novel!” “Everyone can tell if you don’t use this tool. . .” Heard it before? There are so many writing tools and resources available nowadays, and that fact can either be extremely…

Why Are Blogs So Popular?
Blogs were some of the most personal and engaging forms of content during the early days of the Internet. People flocked to them to read opinions, get thoughts on certain topics and follow bloggers' lives. While we have many other forms of engaging content to enjoy, blogs still reign supreme!
Millions continue to publish blogs. Furthermore, visit any company website, and you'll notice that they often have dedicated blogs. But why are they so popular?
Forging Deeper Connections
One of the reasons why blogs are Internet mainstays is because they help people connect with others on a more personal level. Even if you use AI software for blog writing, you're generating content outside corporate speak or legal jargon. That's a big reason why organizations have dedicated blogs.
Most of your site may focus on building business connections. It likely covers your product or service, providing ways for potential customers to support your company.
Meanwhile, blogs connect on a more personal level. It's your opportunity to give others your thoughts and keep people engaged with the day-to-day happenings of the organization.
Staying Informed
Another great way to utilize blogs is to inform people. Blogs may be more relaxed and business casual, but they can also become a valuable place to give people more information about your products, industry or market.
For example, say that you own a company selling high-end tech products. You could use AI software for blog writing to tell the world about what your products do, show people how those goods can enhance their lives, etc.
The sky's the limit, and there are many ways to deliver relevant information while keeping things more personal.
A Space for Promotion and Ongoing Engagement
Blogs are also a fantastic way to promote your business and engage people. You'd be surprised by how big of an impact blogs have on the success of modern businesses. Many people encounter blogs when searching for products or services.
They might read a blog post to learn more about a specific topic. If you use your blog to promote and engage, you can direct those readers to your store and turn them into loyal customers!

Three AI insights for hard-charging, future-oriented smartypantses
Tumblr media
MERE HOURS REMAIN for the Kickstarter for the audiobook for The Bezzle, the sequel to Red Team Blues, narrated by @wilwheaton! You can pre-order the audiobook and ebook, DRM free, as well as the hardcover, signed or unsigned. There’s also bundles with Red Team Blues in ebook, audio or paperback.
Tumblr media
Living in the age of AI hype makes demands on all of us to come up with smartypants prognostications about how AI is about to change everything forever, and wow, it's pretty amazing, huh?
AI pitchmen don't make it easy. They like to pile on the cognitive dissonance and demand that we all somehow resolve it. This is a thing cult leaders do, too – tell blatant and obvious lies to their followers. When a cult follower repeats the lie to others, they are demonstrating their loyalty, both to the leader and to themselves.
Over and over, the claims of AI pitchmen turn out to be blatant lies. This has been the case since at least the age of the Mechanical Turk, the 18th chess-playing automaton that was actually just a chess player crammed into the base of an elaborate puppet that was exhibited as an autonomous, intelligent robot.
The most prominent Mechanical Turk huckster is Elon Musk, who habitually, blatantly and repeatedly lies about AI. He's been promising "full self driving" Telsas in "one to two years" for more than a decade. Periodically, he'll "demonstrate" a car that's in full-self driving mode – which then turns out to be canned, recorded demo:
https://www.reuters.com/technology/tesla-video-promoting-self-driving-was-staged-engineer-testifies-2023-01-17/
Musk even trotted an autonomous, humanoid robot on-stage at an investor presentation, failing to mention that this mechanical marvel was just a person in a robot suit:
https://www.siliconrepublic.com/machines/elon-musk-tesla-robot-optimus-ai
Now, Musk has announced that his junk-science neural interface company, Neuralink, has made the leap to implanting neural interface chips in a human brain. As Joan Westenberg writes, the press have repeated this claim as presumptively true, despite its wild implausibility:
https://joanwestenberg.com/blog/elon-musk-lies
Neuralink, after all, is a company notorious for mutilating primates in pursuit of showy, meaningless demos:
https://www.wired.com/story/elon-musk-pcrm-neuralink-monkey-deaths/
I'm perfectly willing to believe that Musk would risk someone else's life to help him with this nonsense, because he doesn't see other people as real and deserving of compassion or empathy. But he's also profoundly lazy and is accustomed to a world that unquestioningly swallows his most outlandish pronouncements, so Occam's Razor dictates that the most likely explanation here is that he just made it up.
The odds that there's a human being beta-testing Musk's neural interface with the only brain they will ever have aren't zero. But I give it the same odds as the Raelians' claim to have cloned a human being:
https://edition.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/03/cf.opinion.rael/
The human-in-a-robot-suit gambit is everywhere in AI hype. Cruise, GM's disgraced "robot taxi" company, had 1.5 remote operators for every one of the cars on the road. They used AI to replace a single, low-waged driver with 1.5 high-waged, specialized technicians. Truly, it was a marvel.
Globalization is key to maintaining the guy-in-a-robot-suit phenomenon. Globalization gives AI pitchmen access to millions of low-waged workers who can pretend to be software programs, allowing us to pretend to have transcended the capitalism's exploitation trap. This is also a very old pattern – just a couple decades after the Mechanical Turk toured Europe, Thomas Jefferson returned from the continent with the dumbwaiter. Jefferson refined and installed these marvels, announcing to his dinner guests that they allowed him to replace his "servants" (that is, his slaves). Dumbwaiters don't replace slaves, of course – they just keep them out of sight:
https://www.stuartmcmillen.com/blog/behind-the-dumbwaiter/
So much AI turns out to be low-waged people in a call center in the Global South pretending to be robots that Indian techies have a joke about it: "AI stands for 'absent Indian'":
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/29/pay-no-attention/#to-the-little-man-behind-the-curtain
A reader wrote to me this week. They're a multi-decade veteran of Amazon who had a fascinating tale about the launch of Amazon Go, the "fully automated" Amazon retail outlets that let you wander around, pick up goods and walk out again, while AI-enabled cameras totted up the goods in your basket and charged your card for them.
According to this reader, the AI cameras didn't work any better than Tesla's full-self driving mode, and had to be backstopped by a minimum of three camera operators in an Indian call center, "so that there could be a quorum system for deciding on a customer's activity – three autopilots good, two autopilots bad."
Amazon got a ton of press from the launch of the Amazon Go stores. A lot of it was very favorable, of course: Mister Market is insatiably horny for firing human beings and replacing them with robots, so any announcement that you've got a human-replacing robot is a surefire way to make Line Go Up. But there was also plenty of critical press about this – pieces that took Amazon to task for replacing human beings with robots.
What was missing from the criticism? Articles that said that Amazon was probably lying about its robots, that it had replaced low-waged clerks in the USA with even-lower-waged camera-jockeys in India.
Which is a shame, because that criticism would have hit Amazon where it hurts, right there in the ole Line Go Up. Amazon's stock price boost off the back of the Amazon Go announcements represented the market's bet that Amazon would evert out of cyberspace and fill all of our physical retail corridors with monopolistic robot stores, moated with IP that prevented other retailers from similarly slashing their wage bills. That unbridgeable moat would guarantee Amazon generations of monopoly rents, which it would share with any shareholders who piled into the stock at that moment.
See the difference? Criticize Amazon for its devastatingly effective automation and you help Amazon sell stock to suckers, which makes Amazon executives richer. Criticize Amazon for lying about its automation, and you clobber the personal net worth of the executives who spun up this lie, because their portfolios are full of Amazon stock:
https://sts-news.medium.com/youre-doing-it-wrong-notes-on-criticism-and-technology-hype-18b08b4307e5
Amazon Go didn't go. The hundreds of Amazon Go stores we were promised never materialized. There's an embarrassing rump of 25 of these things still around, which will doubtless be quietly shuttered in the years to come. But Amazon Go wasn't a failure. It allowed its architects to pocket massive capital gains on the way to building generational wealth and establishing a new permanent aristocracy of habitual bullshitters dressed up as high-tech wizards.
"Wizard" is the right word for it. The high-tech sector pretends to be science fiction, but it's usually fantasy. For a generation, America's largest tech firms peddled the dream of imminently establishing colonies on distant worlds or even traveling to other solar systems, something that is still so far in our future that it might well never come to pass:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/09/astrobezzle/#send-robots-instead
During the Space Age, we got the same kind of performative bullshit. On The Well David Gans mentioned hearing a promo on SiriusXM for a radio show with "the first AI co-host." To this, Craig L Maudlin replied, "Reminds me of fins on automobiles."
Yup, that's exactly it. An AI radio co-host is to artificial intelligence as a Cadillac Eldorado Biaritz tail-fin is to interstellar rocketry.

FAQ
Q: wow, you're on tumblr?
A: that's not a question, but yeah, this is the Official blog of youtuber jan Misali. I also have my main blog @hbmmaster where I reblog stuff and make more low-effort text posts.
Q: wait, you're on youtube?
A: yeah, I make videos. for new viewers I recommend checking out the best of jan Misali playlist. for people who already watch and enjoy my videos I recommend watching my inspiration playlist, which is a curated selection of videos I personally keep finding myself coming back to.
Q: can you put your name and pronouns in this FAQ?
A: you can call me Mitch, jan Misali, or Misali. "jan" works too, just make sure not to capitalize it. I use he/they pronouns, with no strong preference between the two sets.
Q: when is [video you've announced] coming?
A: by asking this, you have delayed it by another month. sorry!
Q: when is [series that hasn't had a new installment in a while] returning?
A: when I want to go back to working on it, and no sooner
Q: are you going to make a video about [thing you mentioned in a post]?
A: no. some things are just posts
Q: I want to make something based on something you made. is that okay?
A: I'm not a cop. I broadly approve of any stuff people make that's derivative of my own work, as long as I'm given the appropriate amount of credit for it and you tell me about it once it's posted somewhere so I can see it. the only exceptions to this are if you're like just fully reuploading something I made (not cool!) or if it's something I'd disapprove of even if it wasn't derivative of my work (do not write fanfiction with me in it, or like, south park character AI covers of song translations I've made).
Q: you're into languages, right? how many languages do you speak?
A: none
Q: what font do you use in your videos?
A: Noto Serif
Q: what software do you use to make videos?
A: Google Slides and Audacity
Q: can you reblog the scoobypost again?
A: only if you ask nicely.
questions about "the /hj tone indicator is worse than useless" (March 2023)
Q: I think what /hj (half-joking) is supposed to mean is...
A: the reason I find /hj confusing is not, in fact, that not enough people have told me their own personal definitions of what they think it means. I do not need or want to hear any more, thank you.
Q: I think I get what the /oj anon was saying, it's something like...
A: I am not exaggerating by saying that I spent years coming up with interpretations of what the /oj anon could have meant. there is a 0% chance that I haven't at some point considered the exact interpretation you're suggesting. if you want to share your interpretation with someone, find a different person who thinks they understand it and tell them instead of me.

4 Things Every Blog Should Have
Blogs are a great way to connect with others while boosting your brand. Whether you're an influencer or a company looking to build customer trust, having a great blog will help you get there.
While blogs seem simple to make and maintain, there are a few things you should include to ensure continued success.
Compelling Content
Of course, every blog needs good content. But if you want to grow your audience and become an authority in your niche, you should focus on quality over quantity! Consider making a variety of different post types. You can publish standard articles, infographics, video content and more.
If you struggle to develop new ideas, use an AI blog copywriting tool. Work to keep things fresh while delivering content your audience wants to see.
Share Buttons
Another way to encourage growth is to use social media share buttons. Every blog you publish should have a quick and easy way for your readers to share your content with the masses. Add those buttons to every post and include a few permanent "follow" buttons along your site's header and footer.
Give your readers every opportunity to share, and they'll be more inclined to do so.
Newsletter Signup Forms
Your blog is where most of your readers will consume your content. But that doesn't mean you need to limit your communication to your site. An email newsletter is a great way to keep your most dedicated readers up to date on what you're doing.
Use the newsletter to alert readers to a new post, provide exclusive promotional codes to your shop, updates about your brand and more. You can even use an AI blog copywriting tool to ensure every message has an impact.
Comments and Forums
You're missing out if you don't provide a way for your readers to connect with others on your blog. Something as simple as a comments section can dramatically increase engagement. Plus, it's a way to get feedback on what you're doing.
Another option is to have a full-blown forum. Turn your blog into a place for readers to meet others, and they'll have countless reasons to keep coming back.

Hi Luna, I hope you're having beautiful days and enjoying Kinktober! 💙
A lot of people have been reaching out to me asking if I'm OK, and I'm so sorry for pulling Gone Girl, I never meant to make anyone worried, so I want to explain. I am all right, I still love Avatar and this fandom with my whole heart, but I've been enjoying this blissful escape a bit too much and I need to be fully functional in the real world again. My boyfriend and I have a start-up for graphics software. It's just the two of us and the market is brutal now that the AI has swolloved everyone. And I've been spending too much time online instead of working. And my boy is so nice he never even said a word, he saw how I enjoyed writing and making pictures of our cute aliens, so he supported me. And now I want to support him back and focus on the work, which I realized I cannot do while being addicted to tumblr 😅 So I deactivated the blog, because I knew it would always be tempting me if I didn't. It wasn't easy and I will miss you all so much. Thank you for all the support, this fandom is really something else ♥️
All of my pictures, fanfics and my c.ai characters are on my website: cinetrix.org If people want to follow me, I have twitter and Ao3. I still want to write and make pics in my free time, but I need to heavily limit the time I spend online, cause I can't play this gently, I always fall right into the trap! 😅
About my c.ai characters - guys, I am so sorry I deleted my account there too. I had this moment of 'oh, I need to get rid of all the addictive stuff in my life' and just nuked it. But I realized the characters were no longer mine to take down with me. The moment I published them, they became yours. So I uploaded them back - I tweaked them a little bit so I think they're even better now 😉

Neteyam -- Ao'nung
That's it from me. Bye guys, I love you so much. Enjoy Kinktober and take good care of yourselves 💙
Cinetrix
Oh my precious star, I’m so happy to hear from you and to see that you’re okay! It’s good to know that you’ve chosen a path that is best for you and I 100% support you in your decision. 🥹
I hope you know that we will all continue to support you and your works on Twitter and ao3, and that we as a fandom will forever appreciate and treasure the amazing content you contributed. The positivity you spread through your kind and wholesome personality was something that made me look up to you and fall even more in love with this fandom. You and your blog were truly one of my safe spaces and I’m so incredibly grateful and proud that I can call you my friend!!
We all wish you only the very best in your life and that you and your bf will have a successful business with your graphic-software start-up! I love you so much, please stay safe and even though this isn’t a goodbye I will miss seeing you on here.
Thanks for everything, pookie. I’m sending you the biggest hug!! 🫂🥹🩵

P.s: your personal message made me tear up a little omg.
You’re truly one of the sweetest people I’ve met on here and i can’t tell you enough how much I love you. I won’t share this ask on here because of your personal infos, but I wanted to let you know that I received it and I will treasure your kind words forever. 🩵
