Opinions on deaf/hoh Bakugou

I think it's a great hc that takes on the (our world) realistic effects of having such a quirk! But I actually haven't thought? about it much because I read on wiki that he is not meant to be effected by the loudness of his own blasts, and I just Accepted it as the Bakugod he is :p

In their world reality, it makes sense to me because we have seen that quirks bring resistance with them, for e. g. Todoroki has resistance to heat and cold, etc. Jirou is probably also a likely contender of being hoh bc she has larger range in what she hears, and long exposure to sounds is Damaging ™ just as loud sounds are. (that's why people who work with sound even at a minimal level are advised to protect their ears and take breaks)

Imo, canonically (and for me), Bakugou can't be hoh.

But if I were to consider how it'd be like, (on the spot mind u) I think the way Bakugou navigates would have to be different:

He's v good at knowing how to apply his quirk (he's called a genius for that if I remember right) so, I think he'd come up with a support equipment that is like - noise-cancelling earbuds that automatically inserts when he's readying his blasts and removes itself when the blast is shot. He'd also include an override option for this, for high danger situations where he needs to Hear and Blast.

He wouldn't listen to music with earbuds like he does. He'd be super cautious of the effects of his quirk and for heroism, he'd like to preserve it as long as possible. He would switch to speakers. (Lmao the image of Bakugs carrying around a portable speaker shsh)

In loud places, he'd carry noise cancelling earbuds or noice reducing ones at the v least.

Drumming is a no-no. He'd want to be the best at everything ofc but music is Damaging with a capital D so, he'd be more into classical instruments probably if his parents made him go to music classes anyway.

In the beginning, he'd probably yell less. I think he'd research enough into it to know it affects his ears, too. But as time goes and he loses more hearing, it would aggravate him and he'd started talking Loud and Screamy.

It would annoy the eff out of him on good days. Because this means he can't train for longer periods of time and he'd have to be more strategic about when he fires off. On bad days, he'd have troubling love-hate thoughts for his own quirk. Regardless, he would never want to change it and would want to win with his own strength as always.

He'd learn sign language early on as a precaution for when he loses too much of his hearing. And he'd probably make this a Thing once he becomes pro because the world needs to know how to communicate dammit.

I don't know if he'd be less likely or more likely to bully Izuku (he'd relate or would he feel even more insecure?), but I do think he'd have more guilt about it after it's said and done because he'd relate to the feelings of having a weakness.

His parents, gosh. His home life would be a huge stressor for him because Mitsuki just keeps yelling. He'd be super relieved to move to the dorms and probably surprised that he finds himself having to use his earbuds less. And everyone is like?? what. did. you. think. people. do. all. day sjsj

offal hunt’s brilliant use of this horror aspect is something i have tried previously to emulate and here’s a fact, take it from me: that shit is HARD. offal hunt consistently able to whack those real nasty, really Disgusting vibes on the head EVERY TIME is a work of art. i mean, kc and diesel do not fuck around, and therefore i am NOT surprised, but it’s only when u try this shit yourself that you realise: this is hard! this is difficult! it’s a huge testament to how GOOD this fic is in every way. also this whole fucking body horror aspect is something i didnt know this fic needed, but it did, and here we are.

THINK STRAIGHT about how all of this is tying together. the lore. the THEMATICS. like i said this character rly is just Rich with what og lacked and oh is it RICH. im gonna read this chapter in future and see so much that i know ive already missed. holy shit.

Interesting thing about Lethe compared to my other murderers, as you may or may not have picked up on: the murders are a lot simpler in scope. No convoluted set-ups with electromagnetic bombs, no risin poisoning or hypnosis - not even a Wounded Gazelle Gambit. They’re all just things that anybody, with a disability of any stripe or without, can do - partly to make things less painful for the victims, partly to make it easier for Feli to believe she was being kind, partly so that it looks like anyone could’ve done it

I’ve just finished reading this and?? Holy shit??? I’m so impressed with all that you put into this and the fact you were able to guide me into doing things (releasing Elias, asking about Veronica’s exes), without me being suspicious at all. Granted Elias was asked via a disguised anon, but the exes question (at least back then) I didn’t bat an eye at, and just figured it would be a good point of Veronica’s backstory. I’m just still so shook, and you deserve all the praise for this!

Part of me still feels like I don’t, but I’m trying to shut it up because?? AAA??? All this reception???!!!

Jack: Also if I’m remembering the post right, I do agree with Cathy’s death in Baines being... lackluster, unfitting for one of her caliber. I think it was part to do with my mental state at the time and wanting to leave simblr, so squashing a loose end like that felt right at the time. However, as I re-evaluated my stance and stuck around, that decision still haunts me, and I so desperately wish she was still alive on the surface for me to do stuff with. (Especially given my political interests and my quasi-real world events interlaced with the MMBC-verse, I would’ve had a field day writing for Cathy had she lived and won the congressional seat she was running for)

However, the continued existence of her robots have given me some... ideas, to say the least >:)

why do some people feel the need to put others down to make themselves feel better???????? I don’t get it, why? why? why?

I’d slipped up earlier this month but I was getting back on track, I was getting better. I’d convinced myself that it was okay to eat more than once a day and it that was okay to keep the food down.

And then BOOOM, on Sunday my roommate decides to “care for me” and tells me -while looking at a photo of us taken a few months back - “Oh, look how much slimmer we used to be. I’ve put on weight but so have you! Look at you, you pig! You should cut down on your food.”

I wanted to cry and then I got into thinking. “Have I really put on that much weight? Am I going back to the place I’ve tried so hard to escape from?”

And now I don’t know what to do. I try to reason with myself that as long as my clothes fit me, I’m good but what if it’s not enough? What if losing those pounds almost 7 years ago has never been enough?

When will I be enough? When I have those dizzy spells again but instead of a few months, I have them for the rest of my life? When I don’t have the energy to go out again? When I decide to stop eating entirely? When? When?

Since the summer my attitude towards food had been good, I’d stopped being so afraid and I’d started enjoying it. Ofc, I’d slip up once in a while but it was nothing I couldn’t handle. What happened this month would have been another slip up and I would have been fine. But now whenever I see food, I want to hide. Whenever I see food, I get all panicky because I’m hungry but I don’t feel like I deserve to eat and my mind is like “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”

I’m aware it’s not really my roommate’s fault since she doesn’t know about my problems with food. The timing was just bad, that’s all, maybe because I’d already been vulnerable. Still, it hurts so much. Even if she in fact did it just to make her feel better about herself, it still hurts as fuck.

Anyway, I’m trying to handle this but I feel like on a core level I don’t even want to handle it? I don’t know what to believe, I don’t know what to do. I don’t know
