Hello folks!
Last year I had an amazing opportunity to unleash creativity and came out of my comfrot zone by creating the character design tutorial for "Inspired by Nature".
The book, published by @3dtotal, just had it's premiere not so long ago, and is now available in the 3dtotal store!
It was a huge fun, and I hope you like how the Periwinkle came out!

Artbook Collection: Item VIII

“Komorebi: The Art of Djamila Knopf“
thank you
If someone had told me five years ago that I could make a living doing what I do now, I wouldn’t have believed them. I spend my days making art and products, and sharing them with people. The most amazing part of me is that I can paint whatever I want, with no compromises. No one can tell to make changes or steer me into a direction that I’m not comfortable with. It has been a bumpy road for sure, but through everything, the people who I could always rely on were my fans and followers. They have believed in me and continuously supported me through Patreon, conventions, and my online store, and by taking my classes, and by sharing my work on social media. The fact that you are holding this book in your hands right now means that you are one of those very supportive people too. Thank you. I don’t know where my creative journey will lead me, but I know now that it is not finished and that I am not alone! DJAMILA

there are some highly anticipated art books I've collected for when I was finally in the learning mood again art wise; alot of which I looked into for specific things I really want to develop with my style
I thought I'd just make a small list in case anyone is also interested in learning more about these things - keep in mind I am just now going back into reading a lot of these
Dynamic Drawing Series Burne Hogarth
Color Of Light By James Gurney
Imaginative Realism By James Gurney
Figure Drawing By Michael Hampton (I've gotten a little into this book, looking at the shapes and seeing them broken apart helped with form a bit)
Drawing with The Right Ride Of Your Brain By Betty Edwards
Drawing And Sketching Objects and Environments From Your Imagination By Scott Robertson with Thomas Bertling
Morpho books are also good for specifics (If you find them for a good price)
The Animator's Survival Guide
Creating Stylized Characters by 3dtotalPublishing
Keep in mind, I am just now getting to dig into some of these it took some time to gather them but a great resource for me was thrift books.com! Good alternative to amazon. I've heard really good things about alot of these, and I'm hoping their worth it
so far my experience with using art books has helped with certain things and more in depth explanation has also helped me regain the joy of learning again cuz school destroyed that lol

So heres my review on the Fundamentals of Creature Design. Overall i loved this book 100%.
The Art book fundamentals of creature design by 3Dtotalpublishing includes analysis of researching into real-world animals before proceeding to change them into imaginary creatures using the real-world characteristics as well as their anatomy and functionality. After the general reference lessons on different creatures, we get to the design processes of artists who show us their techniques step by step of finishing a creature species.
What I liked about this book out of the functionality and adaptation section are the overall structured pages to help beginner and professional artists learn the different steps a lot quicker and easier, along with the adaptation ideas included on almost every page which is very useful to artists who are starting to learn about creatures. Furthermore, the annotations on the creatures shown helped me understand which parts the artists decided to use on their creature and why, which was another great concept in the book.
In the anatomy section, I liked how it showed you the rights and wrongs of anatomy, explaining why with annotations for you to see what you could be doing wrong with your art, which teaches you how to change your creatures for them to work properly when they move/function.
Another element of the anatomy section that I liked was how we were shown different anatomy areas color-coded which made understanding the creature's anatomy easier, which you can implement into your work.
In the design processes, I was very interested in the challenges where you can practice with your creativity while learning from the artist's ways of creating successful creatures. On that note, the exercises that you can try for yourself at the end of the book engage the reader to help them understand and practice in their own time the techniques they have learned, which I found very helpful and inspiring.
What made the book interesting was how it was set up with loads of illustrations and sketches along with a good amount of writing to fill each page so that I never got bored with the amount of information that was given.
I would highly recommend this book to artists who are both professional or beginners as the book can teach you a lot about the different characteristics and fundamentals of any creature design. The different techniques also teach you a lot while giving you the freedom to create while learning from your mistakes.
This is my second book by 3DTotalpublishing and I'm in absolute love with the books and how much they can teach me as I start on my creative artist journey.
Overall I would give this book 5/5 stars for its creativity and structure which will appeal to both professionals and beginners.

Let's Read Some $#!7 by Howard Zinn, The Brothers Grimm, & 3dtotalPublishing
Welcome to another installment of Let’s Read Some $#!7 (LRSS)! In sum, the purpose of these videos is to introduce educational resources regarding the creation of video games, to promote literacy, to provide world-building tools for creatives, to provide books for escapism, and/or to get banned books into people’s view and whatever I feel like reading aloud at the time.
They go as follows: 1. Read the summary on the back of the book (if applicable). 2. Read the “Forward”, “Preface”, and “Acknowledgments” (if applicable). 3. If there is no “Introduction”, read [part of] the first chapter.
If this is something you’re interested in, don’t forget to hit the “Subscribe” and/or “Follow” button!
Even though the purpose is education/book introduction, I only read PORTIONS because of DMCA and Copyright.
Today, I read PORTIONS of 3 books from my TBR Stack:
A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn With a new introduction by Anthony Arnove, this edition of the classic national bestseller chronicles American history from the bottom up, throwing out the official narrative taught in schools—with its emphasis on great men in high places—to focus on the street, the home, and the workplace. Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People’s History of the United States is the only volume to tell America’s story from the point of—and in the words of—America’s women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers. As historian Howard Zinn shows, many of our country’s greatest battles—fights for fair wages, eight-hour workdays, child-labor laws, health and safety standards, universal suffrage, women’s rights, racial equality—were carried out at the grassroots level, against bloody resistance. Covering Christopher Columbus’s arrival through President Clinton’s first term, A People’s History of the United States, which was nominated for the American Book Award of 1981, features insightful analysis of the most important events in our history.
The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm THE BROTHERS GRIMM, JACOB (1785-1863) AND WILHELM (1786-1859), were German academics, linguists, and cultural researchers, though they were legendary, of course, for their storytelling. They collected and recorded stories from the wide wealth of European folk tales, and their aim was to retell the tales exactly as they heard them. The work of the Brothers Grimm popularized such classics as Cinderella, The Frog Prince, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, and Snow White. Originally titled Children’s and Household Tales, The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales contains the essential bedtime stories for children worldwide for the better part of two centuries. Accompanied by 40 color plates and 60 black and white illustrations from award-winning English illustrator Arthur Rackham, The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales is the perfect classic edition for your family’s bookshelf.
Artists’ Master Series: Color and Light by 3dtotalPublishing The Artists’ Master Series features experts from both the traditional and digital worlds. Drawing from a wealth of experience, in this book they fully dissect the theory and practice of using color and light to advance your art. Expert Charlie Pickard goes beyond the basics to explore color theory. Advanced topics include color hierarchy, value keying, color constancy, and exposure. Discover how hue, value, and chroma enable you to create, mix, and control color. Next, he moves on to the vast subject of light. Using highly illustrated examples, complex concepts of shading, form, depth, and texture are decoded. Three essential material types – matte, specular, and transparent – are analyzed, instilling confidence to paint any object you encounter. Respected artists Djamila Knopf, Guweiz, and Nathan Fowkes then guide you through extensive tutorials, specially commissioned to explore their use of color and light. Each artist breaks down their process, discussing the decisions made at every stage to achieve striking colors, believable lighting, immersive atmospheres, and realistic surfaces. All three artists work in contrasting ways, resulting in a wide range of approaches to putting theory into practice. Further insight is provided by the gallery artists, also experts in their fields, representing a range of styles, skills, and mediums. This unique opportunity to study color and light so extensively offers a deeper mastery of the subject, and a single, comprehensive reference at your fingertips. WARNING: CONTAINS NUDITY
