Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is the independent debut album by Slipknot, released on October 31, 1996 with a pressing of 1000 copies. The band self-distributed the CDs until June 13, 1997, when Dan Schlissel took the remaining 386 copies for distribution under his -Ismist Recordings label. Those copies received a new catalogue number (-ism CD 0032) and a very limited number of copies were unwrapped and opened to add a promotional ink stamp by the label, and later a promotional sticker. Mick Thomson and Craig Jones joined after the album's recording and as such do not appear on it. However, Jones helped with the concept and graphics of the sleeve. Although Slipknot considers the album to be a demo nowadays, its small number of copies has resulted in a lot of interest by collectors. Engineered in the winter '95-'96, Mixed during March '96, All songs written in fall '95.

FOTD #133 : cinnamon cap! (hypholoma lateritium)

the cinnamon cap (also brick cap, chestnut mushroom, brick top, red woodlover or kuritake) is a mushroom-producing fungus in the family strophariaceae. it has been discovered in europe, the US & japan, but may even be more widespread :-)

the big question : can i bite it?? well, that depends !! in the US & japan, it is considered edible & choice. however, in europe is considered inedible - some even claiming it to be poisonous.

h. lateritium description :

"the cap is 3.5–10 cm in diameter, usually with a brick-red colouration in the centre and a paler margin. it is smooth, sometimes with red-brown flecks in the middle & sometimes with flaky veil remnants, which can easily be washed off in the rain, on the outside. the gills are crowded, starting yellowish and becoming greyish with age. the stipe is light yellow and darker below."

Mason was back at the tower but this didn't feel like a familiar place. A place that had once seemed new and exciting now felt dark and lonely. As he wandered the halls they felt long and endless as if he was in a never-ending maze. This time he was here as a tribute. A Career from District Two who was forced to volunteer and to his surprise, district partners with his very own brother. A little surprise that his brother decided to throw in what Mason assumed was last minute. Not that he really knew, he still had yet to even speak to Smith since he was too upset. Volunteering beside him guaranteed that one brother would die no matter what and Mason wasn't ready to accept that yet.

"Do you think the coffee shop is open, yet?" Mason quickly asked the person who was closest to him though not paying too much attention to who it was. He wasn't sure if it was something that would open after a day or two or if it was there to welcome the tributes and mentors as they arrived. "I really feel like I need some coffee and sugar." Though his shaking hands said otherwise.
