Ah, this past weekend was a challenge. I basically blanked on weighing myself or just chose not to for three days. B got his first COVID vaccine shot on Friday afternoon and it sent our weekend sleep routine into a weird flip-flop, which also meant my usual weigh-in time was all out of sorts too. Good news is he’s feeling much better and we’re all starting to get those antibodies building up. Second shots in a few weeks. This has made me realize that I don’t know as much as I’d like about how antibodies work and I wanna do some more research.

I ate a lot of junk over the weekend, some out of convenience and some out of craving. After my workout today I weighed 208.2 — not bad, but I was definitely feeling discouraged today. I wanna see that number dropping back down, but I’ve gotta stay focused. I’m trying to also give myself a bit of grace.. it’s tricky to find the balance between coddling myself too much and being too tough on myself.

I’ve also been trying to find something to focus on in a positive way, some kind of a new interest or hobby that I can grow and develop over the next few months. Granted, obviously I don’t have a ton of free time being a new mom, but since B and I are both home through mid-summer, we’re trying to encourage each other to have some sort of personal development. So! I’ve decided on planting and growing grape vines. I’m ordering 8 plants today. I’m also ordering a few raspberry plants and I’ll make a small veggie garden. It’s going to be really worth it for my mental health to have something that I can dedicate an hour or two to.. and it helps that it gets me outside. Grape vines don’t yield fruit until the 3rd or 4th season, but it’ll be really cool if the plants do well. I’m excited.
