Feel like pure shit, just want a smutty multi-chapter Howard Hamlin fanfic that recounts the many secret sexual affairs that he has had with different people throughout the course of his life, most of which he sought out to recompense for the lack of intimacy in his marriage because both him and Cheryl were iron-closeted and only got married out of familial pressures (things took a turn for the worse after the fight that ended with Howard moving into the guest house). Ultimately, none of them could fulfill his wants and needs because they're all cold and distant in their own ways: there were the handsome strangers he met at some gay bar like Nacho who were emotionally unavailable and only wanted to dick and dash like they're in denial themselves; Jimmy whom he was smitten with and trusted to be able to keep a secret, but it didn't take him long to realize that Jimmy being selfish and cruel and rougher than Howard had liked and not paying any mind to Howard's own pleasure in bed was his way of getting back at him for being a jackass of a boss; Chuck whom he'd got especially close with ever since he was still studying pre-law, so close that he would make up any excuse to be alone with him and suck him off in his office from time to time to seduce his mentor because the daddy issues that had been developing throughout his father-absent youth came to fruition the moment a wiser and older man gave him a sliver of attention, Chuck allowed him to live out his fantasy but never reciprocated in that sense but they remained really good friends, hence Howard's desperation for his approval and affection and the idea of "I still have a chance" kept brewing in his mind even when he could see Rebecca out of the corner of his eye (the incident at the end of ss3 scarred him for life and talking about the intimate details of their relationship before it in therapy did not help). The latter half of 607 didn't happen because he decided that he was in fact the bigger person and the right thing to do was to drink himself into reflecting back on his life choices and wallowing in his own self-pity. Though he didn't storm Mcwexler's condo, the whole ordeal was still his Joker moment, so he put his foot down, got a divorce and resigned from his CEO position because fuck you, he deserves to do that. And maybe after a year or so, he met a certain Salamanca who got out of a certain shoot-out unscathed (haven't determined if Howard happened to stumbled into El Michoacáno or he went back to the gay bar), their chemistry was through the roof, they bonded over the loss of families/ lovers and "being a nepo baby is oh so hard", their romance blossomed because Lalo was textbook definition of charming and exactly Howard's type. One date led to another, and Howard ended up getting the best pipe he'd ever had while trying to hold back the tears stemmed from indescribable emotions. Would Howard find out who Lalo actually was? Would it matter? Would they last? Those are problems for future them.
Like literally that's all I want tbh.

Stardew Impact [Genshin+Stardew Valley/xReader]
Part 1/3 Kaeya, Diluc
Tumblr media
Synopsis: “A mysterious phenomenon brought you and your s/o to an unfamiliar world: Pelican Town! Without the power of Visions, the two of you begin to learn the life of what it takes to be...a farmer?”
(DOMESTIC FARM LIFE YIP YIP)
Coming soon...
Albedo and Childe
Zhongli and Xiao
(A/N): So the brainrot was real in this one. I planned to add Albedo for a Mondstadt edition but kinda went overboard so I gotta split this one into parts too. Wordcount_almost 2k spspspsp
______________________________________________________
Diluc
• Already has the whole year planned in his head. Literally if Diluc were to play this game, he'd have a booming farm within year ONE. Calm and collected through and through, though the new environment raises alot of questions, as long as you were still with him, Diluc ain't complaining
• The town welcomes you two with open arms. It was all thanks to the attire. Diluc wore his usual dark coat adorned with regal gold while you had a dress made of Liyue's finest silk, one that he bought for you. Needless to stay both of you reeked the aura of rich aristocrats (Mayor Lewis is pleased that greedy bastard)
• Once the farm was permitted to your owndership, Diluc began to think of ways to turn it into a vineyard. He was a businessman afterall. Although the staff back at the Dawn Winery were the ones who tended the field, Diluc still knew a few things about planting due to his childhood days Master Crepus would bring him out to their yard and demonstrated the process of gardening. He still remembers those days clearly, doing the very same this moment with you.
• Occasionally works at the Saloon bar. It was the perfect opportunity. As you took care of the farm side, Diluc continues to look for more ways to increase the income while gathering information from the folks around town. Gus LOVES to have him over, like he's just so efficient and reliable! They soon become good friends saying if Diluc were ever to own a wine stock, he would gladly buy from him.
• This is why Diluc would stay a little later due to just chatting with the people from the bar. One time you walked into the Saloon only to the front desk with Emily alone. Turns out the others were in the other room, too busy playing a game of pool. You decided to leave him be since it was rare to have Diluc so relaxed in leisure activities. Thus in the end, you spent your time chatting with Emily until a whole hour has passed before your lover notices and apologizes for losing track of time.
• Everything felt like a dream because it was his dream. To live a life undisturbed from chaos, his duties and the dangers that lurk in Teyvat, Diluc grew fond of the domesticity. There was nothing he loved more than to spend his hours by your side, day after day, returning home to your freshly handmade meals.
• Spring: Already up and early planting the parnersnips (I'm very soft for gardener Diluc you see). What do you expect from a workaholic? Even during his leisure time you would often find him near some plant as he does consider this hobby quite therapeutic. But when it rains, Diluc would be standing beside you with an arm around your shoulder, smiling contently as you lean into his touch. He gazes through the dripping window and silently admires the current progress you both made on the farm.
• Between the two annual spring festivities, I would say the flower dance. Diluc is a private man and would prefer to take things where no eyes were on sight. But with a little bit of nudging from Gus (your wingman), he gives in and leads you to the center stage. Elegant. Graceful. The way you two moved together became the talk of the event. Though, Diluc was already used to people staring by now, all he needed to do was to ignore them and keep his focus on you.
• Summer: No blankets in bed. Nope, its bloody hot in Pelican Town. He tends to stay indoors or anywhere with shade, in other words, his work hours in the Saloon increased.
• Diluc always has a nice cold drink prepared for you if by any chance you were to pay a visit after a whole day of labour. It's a habit he's made subconciously as if it would be a natural occurance for you to enter the door. His colleagues would ask him who did he make that drink for? Honestly so cute i cri
• Moments like these remind him of Mondstadt, where he quietly wipes the glasses while listening to you talk. Your voice is soothing. Sun rays peek from the side casting onto the umber tables, reflecting a rich golden light as the radio plays a soft song in the background. It's so peaceful, the town was small hence not many people visited the bar, Diluc came to appreciate this warm privacy (plus no Venti and Kaeya which is a huge pog realization).
• Autumn: Harvest time baby. The kegs are full and the sheds are full of kegs. This season was huge stonks and the house ended up getting an upgrade. Diluc is the type of man who wants to make sure that his spouse wouldn't have to work another day of her life. I reckon this is why he's so ambitious because he wants you to have the best and you deserve the best. (Husband material. Slap a ring on him ladies).
When there was no more work left to do, time would be spend peacefully exploring the woods. While you skipped a few steps ahead as the leaves crunched beneath your feets, Diluc follows slowly from behind. He sees your back but his eyes stares somewhere far beyond whats in front of him: His future.
It was such a stark contrast to the one he envisioned before. One filled with uncertaintly, blocked by darkness with no silver lining in sight, endlessly wandering as he drags the claymore against the ground. There was never a day in which the Darknight hero wouldn't think of Mondstadt. Leaving the city in the incompetent hands of Ordo Favonious while Abyss Mages continue to lurk fuels him to find a way to return as soon as possible and yet...
"Higher big sis!" Jas tightens her hold on the ropes as you pushed the swing with all your might. She laughs, like a child, it was full of innocence and joy. Later Vincent came in and nugdes you, asking when his turn will come.
"You wanna go too? Alright alright don't worry," waiting for Jas to come down, you lift the boy up so that he was seated safely on the chair, "3..2..1 go!"
He wonders if he could just be a little selfish for once.
• Winter: Best man to have in this season. Every morning Diluc would find himself restricted in movements due to a pair of arms around his waist and legs entangled with yours. Turns out you've been doing it subconciously because he's just so warm (Diluc keeps it lowkey and pretends to sleep longer cuz of it)
~~xx~~
Kaeya
• Haha looks like the portal is gone, guess we'll be stuck forever :)). No kidding Kaeya would be so down to stay here for the rest of his life and the best part is to spend it with you. He doesn't show a shred of concern regarding Teyvat, not like he's easily shaken by events that are abnormal, but you can see that Kaeya is truly and genuinely happy. (You're stunned).
• Oho we also have this marvelous landscape just for the two of us? And a cozy little cabin to go along with it as well? This should be fun~
• Of course Kaeya would also know a few things about planting, just the basics since he did grow up with Diluc. When they were kids, Crepus would give each of them their own pots so they can grow their own plants. It eventually became a competitive thing where whoever's plant grows the fastest gets to eat the other person's dessert for a year (no one wins. They end up sabotaging each other which Diluc started first, thinking it'll be funny as a joke).
• You are, and will be going on dates with him. In fact, the amount of dates you two went on increased since then. The townspeople would call you two "lovebirds" since he's practically by your side 24/7.
• I mean he doesn't have the responsibilities as a Cavalry Captain anymore so what else is there to do?
• Would attend all annual events no matter what season.
• Evelyn constantly gushes how much of a wonderful pair you and Kaeya make and often is the one who provides Kaeya a fresh bouqet of flowers for him to use as a gift. George on the otherhand just rolled his eyes mumbling something along the lines of "youngsters these days" and "crazy hormones."
• Befriends Pam. Love for beer plus somewhat cynical attitude? They get along real swell! She starts sending some recipes into the mailbox of course saying if yall ever need a hand, let her know.
• Spring: I can see Kaeya be switching back and forth between caring for the farm or taking quests posted on Pierre's bulletin board. He likes to keep things interesting, learning the ways of the new world while also getting to know the people around town.
• Would NOT return Mayor Lewis' shorts in which he found in Marnie's room. It's such high quality blackmail material. Kaeya is currently plotting what is the best way to use it to his advantage.
• He didn't tell you of course.
• Summer: There are no blankets because he is your blanket. Since your cabin was small so was the bed. That's why he has to hold you so that no one falls off when rolling over. Either he hugs you with your nose close to his neck, or your back against his chest while spooning you or holding hands if sleeping on your sides became too much. Yall need a serious house upgrade.
• For some reason Kaeya becomes more energetic in the summer. He lets you rest in the shade while handling the farm work for the time being. If you guys got a pet it would be a cat. Hes the first one to refill their bowl every morning outside.
Another day passes as summer comes to an end, the town’s Mayor invited you and your lover to see the annual Dance Of the Moonlight Jellies. Kaeya being the opportunist was delighted to come along. Locking the door of your house, you follow him down the path and made your way to the beach.
Everyone from town was already gathered by the docks when the sun had disappeared down the horizon. You stood by his side in a space far from the others, watching  the candle boats set off to ride the waves, lighting up a small ray of light for creatures to find.
“Wow,” your tone almost above a whisper, “If only our friends back home could see this too.”
“Perhaps,” he says. Kaeya slips his fingers into yours and you shot him a curious glance, “But let us enjoy this moment shall we? Just the two of us.”
And there they were. A sea of luminescence radiating colours of brilliant blue with hints of green like a city of laterns floating in a world below. Their image reflects in the star of Kaeya's eyes as he wonders, where would they go? Where would the light lead them? They were so free with nothing to worry, so serene just like the sea and unknowningly, he squeezes your hand. It was a sense for confirmation. One to remind him that this moment was indeed a reality he wishes to keep.
Autumn: Finally a house upgrade and a kitchen!! Because it was harvest season, you guys end up making a set of delicious meals with all the recipes the townspeople gave you. Kaeya can cook since he lived by himself back in Mondstadt. Most of the stuff he learned to make were food that can be accompanied by alcohol though...
• Ahah remember Mayor Lewis' lucky shorts? He found a use for them. It was displayed on the stands during the Stardew Valley Fair (Oh my how did this get here? Must be the wind). Ends up buying a Rarecrow for the farm when Lewis bribes him not to tell this to anyone.
Winter: This was mostly an indoor season for the both of you. With the existence of television, nights would be spent until morning while watching movies at the couch. A blanket drapes around your shoulders as extends to his.  Oh and don't forget the hot chocolate!

Luz’s mother really doesn’t want to send Luz to camp. She knows once she leaves, there is no going back. But Luz has a knack for getting into trouble, and one day she stumbles into the same type of people her mother would have preferred she avoided. After helping Luz dissolve her high school bully into dust, Eda and Lilith know right away that this kid is just like them - a child of the gods. So Luz hops on a Pegasus and heads to Camp Half-blood, where she embarks on a dangerous quest that makes her both friends and enemies... and she might even save Olympus along the way.
Chapter Twenty-Four: We Help Out Willow’s Big Brother
Luz’s legs were burning.
She was pretty sure she’d never had to walk this far in her entire life. She’d been hiking a couple of times with her Tia Rosa when she was younger, but she definitely hadn’t enjoyed it. And it definitely hadn’t been more than an hour.
The walk down the highway hadn’t been that bad. They’d stayed off to the side of the road, and even been picked up by a nice mom in a minivan at one point. They’d told her that Gus’ dad had a fishing house along Turquoise Lake, and she’d dropped them off right at the edge of the highway. That had probably cut them about an hour of walking, but it was still slow and brutal.
Eventually, the highway had ended and a dirt road took its place. That’s when they started to move uphill. Luz could handle the straight line, but she was wearing vans and wasn’t at all interested in uphill climbing in flat shoes.
After about an hour and a half of moving along this uphill climb, Luz doubled over, clutching her stomach.
“Can we take a quick break? I’m dying here.”
Willow was more than happy to agree with Luz, dropping into a squat right next to her. “Sure, I’m beat.”
“I don’t know guys,” Amity said with a frown. Somehow, throughout the entire hike, she didn’t look even the slightest bit tired. She was sweating a little along her brow but otherwise looked unfazed. “We shouldn’t stop here. We’re exposed.”
“Don’t you guys think it’s a little strange we haven’t run into a single monster?” Gus added. He also looked a little worse for wear, he had shed his button-up and was now just in a t-shirt and jeans. But he was worrying his lower lip, looking around like they would be ambushed at any second. “I mean, we’re four demigods walking in a group, closing in on Mount Pelion. We couldn’t be bigger targets if we tried.”
“Don’t jinx us,” Willow deadpanned, taking a huge swig of water from one of the bottles they’d bought in Leadville. “I really don’t have the energy to fight a monster right now. We’ve been hiking for two and a half hours.”
“If we’re going to take a break, I think we should at least do it in the trees and out of sight,” Amity suggested, and Luz nodded, straightening back up.
“That’s fine with me, any break is a good break.”
They walked off the dirt road and down a little trail until they ended up a creek. Finding a good spot to sit along some rocks, Willow handed everybody a protein bar. Luz collapsed pretty ungracefully along a rock and closed her eyes.
“This is brutal,” she groaned, “and it’s only going to get more intense the higher up we get.”
“It depends actually,” Amity added with a shrug. “We might have to make our way around the mountain in a spiral. Lots of trails don’t go straight up.”
“How do you know all that?” Willow asks, and Amity tucks her arms around her knees.
“I live in the area, remember? My siblings and I go on hikes all the time during the school year.”
“So do you know the trail up Mt. Elbert?” Gus asks, and Amity shakes her head.
“No, we’re not allowed to go near Mount Pelion. I’ve done Mt. Evans a couple of times though.”
“Well that explains how you’re like, not even out of breath at all,” Luz says with a teasing smile. “You’ve got some superhuman hiking strength.”
Amity blushes, rubbing the back of her neck. “It just takes practice. Eventually, you stop noticing the burn in your calves.”
“Ugh, I wish,” Gus groans. “Mine feel like I’ve just run a marathon.
“Do you think we’re going to make it up the mountain before dark?” Willow asks, and Amity immediately shakes her head.
“We shouldn’t, even if we are in a hurry. The higher we get, the more brutal the winds are going to be. It’s just after noon, so we should hike a little longer before we take a break and look for camp.”
“Ok, then let’s get moving,” Luz said, and when she stood up, every muscle in her legs protested. “The sooner we get there the sooner we can stop.”
They started to make their way back to the dirt road, walking in pairs. Amity was leading the charge with Gus next to her, and Luz and Willow hung back, their feet dragging a little more than they would have cared to admit.
They were almost back at the dirt trail when Amity suddenly stopped cold, and Luz wasn’t really paying attention, so she just slammed into her back. Amity stumbled, but Luz reached forward and caught her arm, pulling her back.
“Sorry,” Luz mumbled, but Amity just held up her hand. It was so unlike Amity that Luz quieted immediately, as did Willow and Gus, who were now looking around the clearing with nervous eyes.
“Did you hear that?” Amity whispered, stiffening up.
Luz was quiet, listening to her surroundings as her friends did the same. At first, there was nothing. Just the rush of the creek and the swaying of the trees. But then…
RHEEEEEEEEE!
Luz was so startled by the cry, she jumped right back into Willow, who held her shoulders and kept her steady. Gus and Amity called out their shields, holding a protective barrier in front of them, but it wasn’t needed. The cry had come from somewhere deeper in the trees, and following that right away was another cry, this one human.
A very angry human, cussing so badly her Mami would have washed their mouth out with soap.
Then, another cry from whatever had made that noise.
“Someone’s in trouble!” Willow exclaimed, and all four demigods summoned their weapons. Aletheia spun into a sword, and Luz caught it, and charged through the forest with her friends, her previous exhaustion forgotten.
“What kind of monster is that?” Luz cried out as they sprinted through the trees. There was no doubt it was something from their world. No bear or wolf made a noise like that.
“I have a couple of ideas!” Gus offered, doing his best to keep up and not trip on the rocky ground. “None of them good!”
“Sounds about right,” Luz groaned, before deciding to just focus on running.
Amity eventually skidded to a complete stop right as they broke through a clearing in the trees, and Luz stopped a lot more dramatically next to her, her dominant foot slipping and resulting in Aletheia being held up against her face protectively. When Luz looked past Amity’s shoulder at what was making the sound, she gawked.
In the middle of the clearing, there was a gorgeous white and blue farmhouse, with a huge porch. Luz could make out a clothesline hanging from the top of the porch, and a couple of wicker sitting chairs. There was a variety of hanging plants in the garden, and a huge wreath over the door. And the clearing? It was huge.
In fact, the clearing wasn’t a clearing at all. It was more like a twenty-acre farmers' field, just sitting off the dirt road in mountain country. Luscious green vegetables were growing in the fields, along with potatoes, corn, beans, an orchid of apples, and there was even a gods forsaken red barn smack in the center of it with a couple of animals milling about. The enough was enough to shock Luz since she was pretty sure the soil quality up here couldn’t be great. They looked like they could be in Missouri, not Colorado.
But the biggest shock wasn’t the farm. It was the farmer standing just away from the front porch. The farmer’s huge hands were clasping a boar by the tusks, stopping it from charging. He grunted with effort, gritting his teeth and digging his boots in the dirt, his muscles rippling under a green flannel button up.
Luz had never seen a boar before, but she was pretty sure they were supposed to be that big. It was easily the size of a sedan, with massive beady eyes, and it was doing everything in its power to push against the farmer. It’s feet stamped into the ground furiously as it pushed, and Luz saw the farmer tense as he was pushed back an inch in the dirt, and all the shock drained from her body.
“We have to help him!”
Luz charged forward, her friends at her heels. She approached the boar with a furious yell, and with a quick swing, she managed to take the boar by surprise and cut one of the tusks off sending it spinning into the dirt. The boar was now moving off-balance, diverting away from the farmer and charging in another direction. The farmer stumbled and dropped to one knee.
Gus and Amity charged at the boar with their weapons and shields, keeping it away from the crops. Willow had already leaned down to help up the farmer.
“Are you alright?”
He took her hand and stood, brushing his hands down his dirty jeans. “Thanks, kid,” he said to Willow, his voice gruff and heavy with a deep southern drawl. “I’ll be just fine. But we better go help your friends, cuz’ they ain't’ gonna be fine for long.”
Luz spun around, and her eyes widened in horror. The boar had turned on Gus now and had knocked his shield out of his hand with it’s one good tusk and sent it spinning into the dirt. He stabbed forward with his spear, managing to turn the boar away from him, but now it had focused on Amity, rearing back to charge.
“Amity!”
Luz ran forward, but there was no way she could outrun the boar. Amity didn’t seem to need her help though, because as it charged she sidestepped, managing to graze the side of it with her sword. It wasn’t nearly enough to send it running, but it did squeal and give Luz, Willow, and the farmer enough time to make it to the other two demigods.
They readied their weapons, the five of them standing together and watching the boar murderously. Seeming to realize it was outnumbered, the boar huffed in anger, before turning tail and fleeing, exiting through the trees and out of sight.
Luz exhaled, turning to her friends in terror.
“What was that thing?”
“The Crommyonian Sow,” Gus said, his voice very small as he retracted his spear and picked up his sword. “The mother to the Calydonian Boar. It terrorized the village Crommyon and was later killed by Theseus.”
“Theseus?” Luz asked, her voice quickly rising in anger. “That can’t be a coincidence.”
“It’s not, Luz,” Amity said, and Luz’s gaze flickered up to look at her. Her eyes were wide, but not because of the run-in with the boar. “Your dream!”
Luz paled, and Willow and Gus turned to look at her in confusion.
“What dream?” Willow asked, and Luz recalled the dream she’d had of the mountain, from the fight between Theseus and Achilles, Belos’ order, and the Death Mist. When she’d finished, they both had gone pale as well.
“His exact words were ‘stop them before they find us’?” Gus repeated, fidgeting uncomfortably. “That can’t be good.”
“The Sow started showin’ up today, but it’s come back roun’ here three times lookin’ for trouble,” the farmer said, and Luz jumped, forgetting he was standing there. When Luz and her friends turned to look at him, he stuck his hands in his jean pockets, giving them a white smile.
Luz wasn’t sure how old he was, maybe somewhere in his early thirties? He had curly dark hair and a scruffy beard that made him look like a lot of the dads that dropped their kids off at Luz’s school in the morning. He had a deep tan, and his eyes were a dark green, that twinkled in a way that Luz pegged right away as not human.
Though she should have figured that out already based on the way he held back a boar with his bare hands.
“I’m Demophon,” he said with a little smile. “Why don’t you kids come inside for some lemonade.”
Demophon’s house was really homely. It was an old farm style, with a lot of wooden furniture, and the décor was mainly light greens and blues. In the living room next to a couple of couches was a huge brick fireplace, sitting barren and unused. They sat down at the kitchen table that overlooked the farm fields, and Demophon returned from the kitchen with two pitchers of lemonade and plates of snacks: cookies, fresh veggies and fruit, and sandwiches.
They probably should have been more cautious, considering they didn’t really know anything about Demophon, but they were so hungry they couldn’t care less. Luz’s stomach grumbled in delight as she dug into a little tuna sandwich, washing it down so quickly with lemonade she barely tasted it.
“Thank you so much for the food, Mr. Demophon,” Amity said between bites, and he just shook his head.
“Demophon is fine, Amity. It’s my pleasure to help you kids on your quest.”
The four of them perked up, now looking at him with surprise. The farmer chuckled, but Luz noticed a slight lift in her shoulders. She did the same thing when she was worried about something.
“Yes, I know all about your quest. My mother sent me a message earlier this month lettin’ me know you migh’ be stopping by… and that you were on your way to free Lady Hestia.” For a moment, his nerves disappeared as he turned to Willow, his green eyes twinkling in pleasure. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, little sister.”
Willow dropped her sandwich on the plate, looking up at him in shock. Luz felt her mouth drop open and saw Amity and Gus tense next to her. Willow, eventually, was able to reply.
“You’re my brother?”
Demophon hummed, taking a seat next to them. He crossed his huge calloused hands together on the table and smiled. “Well, in a sense. Demeter is more of my adopted mother. But over the many centuries I’ve been alive, I have come to grow fond of her.”
“You’re Triptolemus brother,” Gus said, his voice lowering in realization. Demophon chuckled.
“Trip is my older brother yes. Though he rarely visits. He has many other duties to attend to.”
“But how… how are you alive?” Gus said in awe, and Luz realized that Willow and Amity were leaning in, desperate to hear his story. Luz really needed to brush up on her Greek mythology. Maybe she’d take it as her elective when she went back to school.
“What do you mean how is he alive?” Luz asked, blinking. “He’s a god, obviously.”
“No, Luz Noceda,” Demophon said with a shake of his head. He settled his warm green eyes on Luz with a smile. “I am no god. But I am immortal.”
Luz’s brow furrowed. “How is that different?”
“Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, but also fertility,” Demophon explained, nodding his head to Willow. “My birth parents were favored by my mother, just as Willow’s fathers were. In exchange for their adoration, Demeter sought to make me a god in their honor. She is the mother of the Olympians and worked with Hestia to have me stoked on their fires and made immortal. But halfway through the process, my birth mother found me on the fire and screamed, rippin’ me off the flames. The process was never finished, but it was too late to turn back. I was made immortal, but due to my… imperfection… I was never accepted into the Greek pantheon. So, mother let me have this farm here near Mount Pelion, and that’s where I’ve stayed.”
“Why weren’t you accepted?” Amity asked in shock when he finished. She was looking Demophon up and down. “You look godly to me. You held back that sow with your bare hands, and you certainly haven’t aged over the centuries.”
“There is more to being a god than just strength and immortality,” Demophon answered, his voice turning wistful as he talked. “You need drive: godly essence that comes from owning and having. You need to stand for something and have mortals who respect and favor you. Mortals don’t see me as a person who can grant them good fortune and prosperity, and I have no claim over any aspect of humanity.”
“Because the legends said you died in the fire when your mother found you,” Willow said, her mouth open wide with shock and realization. Demophon shrugged.
“Mortals rarely get the full story, and so they fill in the gaps with what they want to see. Complex situations confuse em’. I think you know what I mean, little sister.”
Willow flushed, and Luz realized that maybe Demophon had a point. Willow was teased for being “half a half-blood”, but she was one of the strongest demigods Luz knew. The more Luz looked at Demophon, the more sympathy she felt for him. It must be incredibly lonely, living for this long and never being accepted into the mortal world or the godly one.
“I’m sorry we brought the monster to your farm,” Luz said slowly, and Demophon looked over at her with the tiniest hints of a smile.
“Now, now of that, Luz. I’m no fool, and unless you’re the man that sent that beast, I have no quarrel with you. But you kids ain’t safe heading up the mountain until that monster’s been taken care of.”
Demophon stood up and went into the kitchen, but came back relatively quickly. He had a cloth package in his hands, which he handed to Willow.
“These are some of my mother’s apples. She has me grow them here in case harvest on Olympus is poor. It never is, so I always have plenty. When you need a boost, take a bite. Hopefully, it helps you on your quest.”
Willow held the package so gently in her hands, it was like she was afraid they would disappear. She looked up at Demophon in awe.
“These apples… they haven’t been trusted to mortals in centuries. Why would you give us something like this?”
Demophon’s face suddenly went dark.
“I want Belos gone just as much as the Olympians do. Hestia is the reason I’m here, able to tend to my farm and my livestock. She’s always been kind to me… kind to all who cross her path and say hello.”
He looked over at the huge fireplace in his living room, which was completely dark. His eyes were fixated on it, like the sight of it alone physically pained him.
“My fire hasn’t lit since she was taken,” he said, his voice breaking slightly on those last few words. “Without her, all the love and light and happiness that we know will fade from existence. Somebody needs to stop him, and get her back. If I were not bound to this farm, I would go up the mountain myself. I will do anything I can to help you.”
Demophon sat back down at the table and went back to cradling his calloused hands in his lap. Luz was suddenly struck with a pang of homesickness. Demophon did the same thing with his hands her Mami did when she was worrying herself sick about something. He was just as scared about the success of the quest as they were.
“You seem to admire Hestia a lot,” Luz said quietly, so quietly she wasn’t sure anybody would hear her. But Demophon looked up, and so did her friends, turning to look at Luz. She glanced at Amity, for only half a second, and realized that she was watching Luz with a careful expression.
Had she overstepped?
Demophon met Luz’s gaze, and that’s when Luz saw it. It was the same look Amity gave her when she was grappling with a decision. To tell or not to tell.
“I’ve had so few people I could truly call a friend while I’ve worked this farm,” he eventually said, glancing over at the fire. “I could always rely on Hestia to show whenever I lit that fire and passed on my offerings. There are so few certainties in a life as long as mine. If you were in my place, would you be happy with that changing in the blink of an eye?”
“No,” Luz said immediately. She couldn’t imagine just sitting at her Mami’s apartment while her friends were in danger. She’d do anything to protect Willow and Gus. She’d do anything to protect Amity.
She’d move the entire mountain by herself if she had to.
She opened her mouth to reply, to assure Demophon that they would do everything they could to save her, but she didn’t get the opportunity to. Because Amity spoke next, swallowing hard before shaking her head.
“I’ll get her back,” Amity said, leaning in to look Demophon in the eye.
It was so surprising Luz couldn’t help but turn and look at Amity out of the corner of her eye. Amity’s expression was startling. Her face looked exactly like how Luz was feeling.
“I’ll break her out of the cage and make Belos pay no matter what happens. I swear it on the River Styx.”
Outside, thunder rumbled. The temperature in the room seemed to drop. Willow and Gus were looking at Amity with a mixture of shock and horror on their faces. Luz didn’t really know what was happening, but judging by the equally as awed look Demophon was giving her, whatever she’d done was pretty serious.
“You don’t know what you’re promising me, kid,” Demophon tried, but Amity shook her head, leaning in again with such a ferocity Luz couldn’t look away no matter how hard she tried.
“I do know,” she insisted, reaching forward and gently resting her hand over his. “I know that nobody deserves to have someone taken from them. Being around the people you love makes life worth living.”
Willow cracked a small smile, nodding her head and leaning forward to rest her hand on top of Amity’s.
“She’s right. I’ll help too.”
“Me too!” Gus added, reaching forward to put his own hand on top of Willows.
Luz broke into a grin, nodding and adding her own hand to the now growing pile. “Obviously I’m in too. We’ll free Hestia, even if Theseus throws a hundred more stupid pig-boars at us.”
“Let’s hope he doesn’t,” Amity deadpanned, and Luz laughed, hard enough that everyone at the table cracked into smiles. Even Demophon, who was looking so grateful Luz thought he might start crying.
“Thank you, kids,” he said, wiping at his face. “You have no idea what this means to me.”
“We do know. That’s why we want to help,” Luz insisted, her whole body vibrating with adrenaline at what they were about to do. “Now let’s go make some pork chops.”

Discussion recap -FINALLY
Tumblr media
First of all, congratulations to @ewebie on her degree, or as they called it “head bonking!”
FINALLY in the slowest of slow burns, we finally have our first kiss. We’re still waiting for Sherlock to call Mycroft though....
What to do when your OTP finally kisses.
“They made out in public. It did feel like it was the right time there though” @ewebie
“I like how afterwards they decided not to have sex because they've been taking it slow. I was like, no shit you've been taking it slow.” @sherlock-nanowrimo
They went on more dates! How romantic!
“Sherlock putting his mouth on the spot where John''s lips had been” “And when he finally did ask him. “John agreed before Sherlock had even finished his sentence. He pushed his chair back so fast the legs skidded on the floor” These two are frickin adorable.“ @sherlock-nanowrimo
“Apologies, and this is random-but how much do i love Sherlock having a kitchen opened JUST for their lunch” @almosttomorocco
“There was another nod to canon this week, tho I don't know if it was written before or after s3. “He was freshly shaven, so he'd been at home when he'd received Sherlock's text.” John shaved for Sherlock.“ @sherlock-nanowrimo
“Also, John renting a really nice tux for the party but wearing that green hoodie jacket over it?” @yorkiepug
“No, but speaking of the tux. “Sherlock was already trying to come up with scenarios for getting the jacket off so he could have a look at John's arse.” Sherlock has his priorities straight.” @sherlock-nanowrimo
“@sherlock-nanowrimo he kept hoping John would lift his arms so he could see it” @yorkiepug
“@ewebie I'm trying to remember, did this fic have a "sliver of skin" moment...” @yorkiepug
“It did. A triangle of fur..” @sherlock-nanowrimo
Molly got added to the madness
“Incidentally - and I don't know exactly when this happened because I read it all in one lump - I love how Molly's implicitly gone from crushing on Sherlock and awkwardly trying to get his attention directly to being a supportive friend once she's had it gently explained to her(by John) that he's gay. There's no apparent resentment in there. No suggestion that if she can't have him that way, she doesn't want anything to do with him at all. Not even, as far as I can see, any period where she's cool and distant while she sorts her emotional state out and figures out where she stands with him - just "He's gay? Guess I'll stop barking up that tree, then. I wonder if he needs any help with the show." @Mazz06tea6
“Gawd OMG Sherlock's Jealousy™ when John was talking to Molly tho” @inevitably-johnlocked
Much ado do about Jim Moriarty
“Jim is 10lbs of crazy in a 5lbs bag here“ @ewebie
“I love Jim in this story. He's really so out there. He must be a terrifying teacher. More than Sherlock. Imagine him cackling in front of the class as he makes fun of a student.“ @elwinglyre
“@sherlock-nanowrimo maybe I was too concerned about them kissing, but I'm still unlcear on moritarty and sherlock's past: @yorkiepug
“Interviewer: And why would you make a good teacher Jim: I like destroying people's hopes and dreams Interviewer: ... ok.
I'm now trying to picture dodgeball at Moriarty's school” @ewebie
“I would love to listen to Lestrade on the phone to the other head of school like... So... your whole 2nd form was just in brawl here on our school property: @ewebie
“Yeah, Moriarty's kids. Going to visit BAker Street so they can see how much better they have it. “Look at the plebes, children.”" @sherlock-nanowrimo
“The Nativity cannon is that Lestrade's school is the working class school and Moriarty's school is the private prep school” @ewebie
We feel like we learned a little more about these characters
“We got some more glimpses of Sherlock's past, with his family. He had to deal with his family being disappointed in him, with competing against Moriarty and losing, Moran's awful review of his former play. He's just very insecure and afraid of being hurt. “Sherlock began, trying to think of a way of putting it so that John would feel needed without making it sound as if Sherlock actually needed any help.” @sherlock-nanowrimo
“I am additionally frustrated with Sherlock for not just calling Mycroft, but I totally understand why he hasn't” @Mazz06tea6
“John immediately sees something in Sherlock in this story. He sees him through these rose colored glasses. He views the best in every person at the school for the most part too. The kids pick up on his attitude. It's interesting that he's not the grumpy gus he often is portrayed.” @elwinglyre
“And we know without hearing his thoughts that John is going through the same thing - insecure about his place in this world.
But I don't think he's as afraid of being hurt as Sherlock is, so that's why he keeps approaching instead of backing away the way Sherlock is.” @sherlock-nanowrimo
“He;s like, "John wrote a love song for me? how ridiculous!" *leans against wall with butterflies in stomach.  Oh man, I just realized how canon that is. John is a writer, writing about Sherlock. So of course here it would be songs.” @sherlock-nanowrimo
“John is a romantic“ @yorkiepug
"John is a romantic." Sherlock says romantically” @ewebie
“@Yorkiepug we're not going to boink... because we're taking it slow. But let's move in together” @ewebie
And finally....
“Cuz Martin Dancing in the actual film is adorbs” @almosttomorocco

Slice Of Life
Characters: Negan X McKenzie
Warnings: massive amounts of fluff and smut
Notes: This is for @neganswinchesters and was inspired by the gifs of JDM and Gus, I swear Negan and McKenzie are becoming my OTP lol I absolutely love writing them together.
—————————————————————–
Sitting crossed legged on the large bed McKenzie smiled to herself as she folded the pile of laundry beside her.
It had been a quiet evening, no runs, no pick ups, no trouble…just peace. She would give her left arm to have more days like this.
Closing her eyes with a blissful sigh, she took in the tranquil moment before a loud crash snapped her out of it.
“Son of a bitch!!”
Giggling at the sound of her husband’s loud voice echoing through the door, McKenzie got to her bare feet. Shaking her head as she quickly padding her way to the lounge.
Entering the brightly lit room she instantly covered her mouth with a bright smile as she took in the sight before her.
Negan was sprawled out on the floor, his hand running down his face as their son Christopher bounced on the couch with a manic laugh.
“Ha ha daddy’s a dumbass”
Mckenzie gasped trying to hide her smile as she moved in next to her husband. Crouching down next to him she patted his thigh with gentle smile.
“Ya ok there big guy?”
He chuckled with a tight wince as he sat up on his elbows “little shit ambushed me”. She giggled “really Negan, he’s eight you’re six foot something how the heck did he overpower you?”
“Daddy’s a dumbass, daddy’s a dumbass”
Raising her eyebrows at their son as he continued to bounce on the couch, his little arms flailing as he giggled. McKenzie frowned using her best mom voice “Hey! Language mister”. He stopped bouncing immediately, his lips sealing with a muffled laugh.
Bouncing to his butt on the cushion he smiled “sorry mommy”.
She smiled before turning back to Negan “need some help?” he chuckled getting to his feet with a rough groan “kids gonna fucking kill me one day”. Christopher slid from the couch to start running around the room before he latched his arms around Negan’s long legs.
McKenzie stood up with a bright smile as he began making his way to their son’s room, the leg the small child was currently attached to dragging behind him.
Stopping half way, Negan reached down to lift him up by his armpits grunting as he hoisted him up on his broad shoulders.
McKenzie giggled as she followed them into his room, Negan tossing Christopher onto his bed before attacking the boy’s sides. “You think you’re tough shit don’t cha, ya lil monster?”
There was a time when she would of been upset with Negan’s language, but the world was theirs. Why be upset with something as frivolous as cursing? not to mention his colorful language seemed to do nothing but make their son laugh.
Christopher and Negan’s ruckus laughter made her giggle as she folded her arms, leaning against the doorframe.
Sitting up from the bed Negan raised his arms with a triumphant yell before Christopher swung his pillow, smacking him in the face sending him back against the mattress.
Snatching up the discarded pillow, Negan quickly swung it against Christopher’s side making him giggle.
Deciding to flee his father’s assault, the small boy frantically scrambled over Negan his knee smashing down on his groin as he tumbled over him.
Negan bolted upright with a pained groan, gritting his teeth as he helped his son to the floor.
McKenzie winced “annnd we’re done beating up on daddy for the night”. Negan chuckled as he thumped his hand on the bed “come on ya little hellion, bedtime”. Christopher pouted, shuffling his little feet across the floor “but I hate bedtime!”.
Negan smiled “me too buddy, but ya need your rest so the dead fucks won’t eat ya”. McKenzie smiled softly at their son’s nod of understanding “hyper…hyper…awareness?”
Negan smiled brightly “that’s right buddy, and the more rest ya get the more aware you’re gonna be”. Christopher nodded his head enthusiastically “got it!”
Spreading his arms wide he smiled lovingly as his father leaned down to give him a tight hug “night bud”.
“Night daddy”
McKenzie moved in next to the bed placing her hand on Negan’s shoulder “sweet dreams honey”. Leaning down to kiss his forehead she ran her hand through his dark hair lovingly.
“Night mommy”
Taking Negan’s hand they both moved into the hall before she closed his door quietly.
Negan leaned against the wall closing his eyes with a deep sigh, McKenzie smiled moving to stand in front of him “you alright?”
He chuckled softly, pulling her to him slowly “don’t worry baby, the boys are still intact”.
She giggled kissing his lips with a small smile “well that’s a relief, could’ve swore I heard there screams of agony from the door”. He laughed “wouldn’t be the first time” McKenzie closed her eyes as he slid his right hand up her throat, cupping her cheek as he kissed her deeply.
“hmmm although I’m always up for a second opinion” his voice was deep and laced with arousal as he ran his tongue against hers. McKenzie smiled sliding her hands down the front of his black tee shirt, her fingers hooking inside his waistband as she pulled him from the wall.
“that so?”
Slowly unfastening his belt she looked up at him with a heated stare, his tongue trailing across his bottom lip as her hand slid beneath the dark denim.
Watching as his eyes slid shut with a rough sigh, McKenzie bit her lip as her hands cupped him over his boxers “everything feels fine to me”.
He hummed with a wide smile “uh…sure ya don’t need a closer look?” she giggled moving her hand over him firmly as he let out a quiet groan “probably wouldn’t hurt”.
Purring against her lips, he chuckled as she slowly removed her hand. Gripping the leather in her fist she quickly whipped it from his pants before throwing it over her shoulders with a flirty wink “come on daddy, examination room A”.
Biting his lip he growled softly as he followed his wife back to their room.
Coming to the dark cherry oak doors, Negan pressed against her back holding her against the smooth wood.
Dropping his mouth to her neck, he groaned sucking against her soft flesh.
Reaching back to thread her fingers through his hair, McKenzie sighed as the fingers of her free hand quickly turned the knob.
As soon as the door was open a solid ball of fur slammed into Negan’s legs pushing him into the far wall “fucking hell!”
McKenzie laughed as she snatched up the energetic corgi off the floor, the fat pooch letting out a series of happy little barks.
“Why the hell did I ever let you keep that thing?”
She smiled leaning against him as she reached up to kiss him “cuz you love me”. He chuckled leaning down to meet her lips before the bundle of fur decided to intervene, shoving forward to lick Negan’s lips.
“Blah…gah little shit” he growled wiping his mouth with the back of his hand as his wife double over in laughter.
Setting the vibrating pooch onto the floor she giggled “come on Teddy” patting her thigh, she walked the bouncing little dog down the hall.
Negan moved in behind her, his hand sliding against her lower back as she cracked their son’s door open.
“Go on, good boy” she cooed as Teddy wiggled into the boys room, jumping up on the small bed before curling up at its foot.
“How come you never call me a good boy when I listen?”
McKenzie rolled her eyes, looking at her husband over her shoulder “cuz you never listen”.
Negan’s mouth dropped open in mock offense as she chuckled, pushing his face away from her neck so they could head back to their room.
“Admit it Kenzie, you love my fucking rebel attitude…we both know bad boys get you wetter than a damn monsoon”.
Biting her lip she shook her head before spinning around to lift her eyebrow at his approaching figure.
“No, bad boys don’t get me wet Negan honey…” she licked her lips “you do”.
****
The cherry oak doors of their quiet room burst open, sending the wood knocking against the wall.
Stumbling inside McKenzie giggled as Negan squeezed his arms around her hips, lifting her from the floor as he made his way to the bed.
Dropping her to the mattress he growled playfully as he leapt onto the bed, pinning her to the sheets with a manic grin.
McKenzie laughed, fisting his hair as he nibbled her neck.
Stopping to suck on her earlobe he chuckled as she let out a loud moan, her hips rising to grind against his gently. Sitting back on his knees Negan smiled, sliding his hands down her body before lifting her baby blue shirt up her stomach.
“Fucking perfect”
She smiled running her hands up his arms “charmer”. He chuckled leaning down to mouth at her stomach, his tongue dipping into her navel making her gasp. Raking her fingers through his hair she smiled, her heavy eyes falling closed as he continued to place open mouthed kisses up her chest.
Lifting up so he could slide her shirt off, McKenzie cupped his rough cheeks as their lips sealed against one another. Pressing her down onto the plush sheets, Negan groaned against her lips as his hands dropped to quickly work her pj bottoms off her curvy hips.
Sliding her legs to the side, he pulled the material from her smooth skin dropping it to the floor.
“Sir, you have way too many clothes on for this examination” she breathed, popping his button open before yanking his zipper down.
Negan grinned, his hazel eyes watching as she pulled him from his confines. Her warm hands caressing up his shaft as she pressed him against his stomach.
Rolling his head back against his shoulders, Negan let out a heavy groan as her now slick palm slid up around his weeping tip.
Growling softly, he pulled his black shirt from his torso. His dark hair sticking up slightly as he tossed the material behind him,
McKenzie bit her lip with a pleased hum as her moist hands slid up over his cock to rub up his chest, his silver flecked chest hair caressing against her fingers.
Dropping down so his arms caged around her, he smiled as her hands came up to caress his jawline.
His breathing was ragged as she lifted her feet to push his pants and boxers down with her bare toes. Her legs sliding back up around his narrow hips as he rubbed his aching cock against her exposed folds.
Dropping his head to rest on her now heaving chest, Negan purred deeply as he moved back before sliding deep within her core. His body thrumming with pleasure as she arched up beneath him, her fingers fisting his hair as she let out a breathy moan.
Sucking on the flesh under her chin, he fisted the sheets next to her head as he rolled his hips against hers. Crying out in pleasure, McKenzie quickly moved her hand to bite on her fist to try and muffle her cries.
Negan grunted, shoving her hand away so he could press it to the mattress, his lips crashing over hers. Their sounds of pleasure softening beneath their roving lips.
McKenzie’s heel dug into his tailbone as she rocked her hips up to meet his downward thrusts, the fingers of her free hand practically clawing at his hair.
“Fuck Kenzie…” he groaned breathlessly against her open lips, her walls fluttering around him.
Threading his fingers through her hair, he pulled her head back to expose her throat as his lips latched onto her jugular.
Sucking against her flesh almost harshly, he growled as her hand that had been in his hair clawed down his undulating spine.
“Ah..shit…Negan!!”
Her carrying moans got increasingly louder as he began ramming his throbbing member viciously into her sopping heat. Gritting his teeth as her muscles clenched around him, her nails digging into his shoulders as the bed frame banged against the wall.
Pressing her lips against his ear, she let out a breathy laugh “easy tiger, you’re gonna wake the dead”. He let out a growling chuckle as he thrust into her firmly, holding the position as a loud groan rumbled up through his glistening chest.
”The kid sleeps like a fucking rock, baby”.
At her raised eyebrow, Negan grunted rolling his hips back into her slowly drawing out a desperate whine from her rosy lips.
“If…ahhhh…if he says something…argh fuck…i’ll tell em we were fucking moving furniture”.
McKenzie giggled, gasping loudly as he began snapping his hips against hers.
The bed once again smacking against the wall causing Negan to growl in frustration “fucking damn it”.
Laughing against the side of face, McKenzie gripped the hair behind his ear clenching her muscles around him as she began jerking her hips against his.
“I’m close baby, let me have it” she hissed biting his earlobe with a needy groan.
Negan moaned slamming his pulsing shaft as deep as he could, rolling his hips as he pressed against her. Growling as he bit her neck roughly, his long fingers gripping her hips with bruising force as he panted against her neck.
Feeling her walls clamping down around him he purred deeply, pulling out of her hungry channel before driving himself firmly within her velvety pocket once more.
“Ahhhh shit, oh my god…fuck, fuck, fuuuuck Negan!!”
McKenzie practically screamed against his lips as her whole body seized up, her hips slapping against him before her legs began to shake.
Her release gushing out around his pulsing cock as her muscles squeezed him within an inch of his life.
“Holy mother of fucking god!!!” Negan cried out roughly as she pulled his powerful release from his trembling body, his eyes clamped shut as he threw his head back.
“Jesus fucking christ darlin” he grunted thrusting his hips slowly as his orgasam shot through his body.
Pulling him to her by the back of his neck, McKenzie met him in a sloppy kiss. Their lips sliding against one another lazily as their body’s came down from their soaring high.
“Fuck do you think we woke the kid?”
McKenzie smiled biting his lip gently “I don’t know, let’s just head to bed and see what happens”.
He purred nuzzling against her neck “sounds good to me baby”.
Wrapping her arms around him slowly, she pivoted her hips so she could roll them over “now snuggle with me, handsome”.
He chuckled “yes ma'am”.
Running her fingers through his hair she giggled, kissing his temple “good boy”.

Self Para: Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole (Cont.)
“One more.” She said to Gus, once their ‘final’ song was done, a pleading look in her eye. Gus nodded,
“One more?” He called into the microphone. The audience roared, as eager as the band for the night to not come to an end. The manage backstage seemed to wave his hands while Andy laughed it off.
“Maybe two,” Brie said with a chuckle, taking her place centre stage. “This one is a heavy one, but it ugh, goes out to some special people.” her smirk providing a sting as her eyes darted to the left side of the auditorium.
Behind her, she heard Wade laugh from his drum set, playing a riff of the cymbals like some kind of joke had been made.
“Um, but first I gotta bring up Matty to play guitar with me, cuz we used to play this together all the time, and I know he knows this song almost as well as I do.”
Matt came forward, a curving smile on his lips. He’d been the one to show her this song years ago, bringing it back from her younger years. She’d heard it and instantly remembered how Judith had hated it, just as Matt’s parents had when he would play it too.
Matt took Gus’s spot, right off centre, his guitar slung over his torso, adjusting the mic stand quickly with a smirk on his face. “You’re so lucky this is an 18+ show.” He joked, earning a laugh from the audience. Matt too was trailer park trash at heart, with a deep seated hatred for his parents, this song had immediately bonded them.
He started up the guitar chords. And for a moment, as Brie closed her eyes preparing to sing, it was like being fourteen again, in her tiny bedroom with her headphones covering her ears and singing in low tones to the mixtape she’d gotten for pennies in the thrift store. When her mom had heard her singing, she’d slapped her so hard her ears started to ring. But there was nothing Judith could do to stop her now.
She couldn’t decide who it fit more perfectly, her father who would tear her down, her mother who used to strike fear into her heart, or her oblivious ex-boyfriend. But in truth, it fit them all too perfectly, and it was fate that she would have to sing it here tonight for them, with dozens more here to witness.
She remembered as she sang out curse after cathartic curse, how Judith liked to believe that fire cleansed sins, not water. She was always a god-fearing woman when it suited her parental needs. So anytime Brie cursed, it was a cigarette burn somewhere the pageant dresses could easily hide it. Luckily for Judith, Brie had learned that lesson early. Hadn’t even made it to more than half a dozen before she stopped swearing for good.
“You bloody motherfucking asshole,” She sang out again and again, earning more whoops and cheers from a grateful audience and her friends behind her.
The song finished out with a soft finished, followed by a loud applause. Brie thanked her crowd and exited the stage, leaving her friends behind to give them an upbeat finale.
She might’ve stayed on stage if her hands weren’t shaking, and her heart wasn’t racing a million miles a minute.
When she got back to her dressing room, she had little time before Judith came storming in, with Brie’s father and Jack in tow. As she heard the door slam open, Brie winced and gently peaked around the corner, like a child hiding.
She could see it all. Judith storming in, her cheeks and neck red with rage at Brie for having embarrassed her. She would’ve raised a hand and struck it down across Brie’s cheek, knocking her pathetically to the floor. Judith would stand over her, waiting for her to get up just to knock her down again
And she never fought back, she never ever did. She just laid there and took it all every time.
The sound of a crash brought her from her reverie.
She’d thought for sure it was the sound of Judith making her presence known; slamming open a door, breaking a mirror, anything to make her fury suck up any bit of air left in the room.
Brie dropped to the ground, crouching behind a nearby chair. Her hair covered her face as she hugged her knees to her chest, waiting for her world to collapse.
Her breath was fast and shaky as she looked around the room. She was still alone, The vase of flowers had been picked up and smash on the ground, sending water, shards of glass, and torn plants everywhere.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at the mess she’d made. She ran to the door and bolted it shut, the idea of her mother and father walking in loomed over her like a dark shadow and she felt the need to do anything to keep them out.
Her hands clamped down over her ears when she heard footsteps outside the door and saw shadows moving under her feet. It made her hum louder to herself. When the pounding started she curled up tighter against the door until it stopped.
She wasn’t sure how long she’d stayed there like that, except that when she opened her eyes there was a piece of paper slipped under the door.
It’s only me. Everyone else has gone. You’re safe.
She sniffled and wiped away the remaining tears. “Gus?” She called out, two calloused fingers slipped under the door, crinkling in a measly wave. She touched her fingers down on his and stayed there for a moment.
“You wanna let me in?”
“Yeah, watch your hands.”
His fingers disappeared and she got up on her knees to open the door, Gus fell back into the room, rolling onto his back, trying to make her smile, and looked up at her.
“I liked your song.” he consoled, sitting up and joining her. They placed their backs against the wall and stretched their long legs out in front of them.
“Thanks, I don’t think I’ll be playing that one again for a while.”
“The audience liked it too. Not that that matters, not every show will be like that. with those people out there. And you and Matty love that song, fuck the rest.”
“He can get in anywhere he wants at the drop of a hat, Gus. Every show will be like that.”
“Then for every show you’ll just be that strong and that courageous again. And we’ll all be right there behind you, supporting you the whole way.
She nodded, up on top, on the surface she felt alright, calmed even, by Gus’ presences, but underneath something was still wrong.
Her head fell down against her knees as fresh tears streamed down her face.
“Come on, Brie, I just wanna help you, what do you need?” Gus’ voice whispered soothingly, as an arm circled around her shoulder.
She knew the answer immediately, she always did,
“Thomas.”
