hey you live in colorado right? whats it like there? esp weather wise, im considering moving out there next year (im in the midwest currently)

hahaha. theres a saying here like “if u dont like the weather just wait 10 min” and its not an exaggeration whatsoever. it has a habit of changing really rapidly and drastically. i had an aunt out in denver and she told me my first day here about this time it was in the high 40s, totally bright and sunny and she went into a mall wearing a t shirt and shorts and when she came back out a few hrs later it was snowing. I didnt believe her until the same shit happened to me.

I also tell ppl if u dont like the weather where you are just drive a few miles away and itll probably b totally different. like we’d honestly need a different weather report for every few miles cuz it can differ so much. but its also rly hard to predict anyway. its kind of off the shits.

if i had to say, majority of the time its sunny and dry as fuck. If it does rain it lasts anywhere between 5 and 20 min and then its blue skies and bone dry again like nothing happened. thats one of the wildest parts, like when i went to the east coast last year it rained for 3 days straight and it was like that everywhere u went and it was so overcast you couldnt rly see very far. well, thanks to the elevation and topography out here in CO u can literally look out your window and see a completely different weather situation 10 miles away.

Far as the snow goes, its rly like flipping a coin every time and we either get a few inches that melt by noon the next day or absolutely hammered with 18+ inches. Either way people still drive like douchebags

If you like having regular distinct seasons, just keep walking. we can get snow p much all the way thru may and hail is always an option :)

1 of the other biggest things that drives me batshit is the roads are absolute shit. like youll cross the colorado state line and its immediately terrible. ull see bumper stickers that say shit like “if u see me swerving its not cuz im drunk, im avoiding the potholes!”

Should also note i live in CO Springs and tbh im rly not a fan. There are way better places to go in CO. I had friends in durango and they loved it down there, but they were also huge on skiing and stuff which I've never actually tried. in my opinion CO springs is like the opposite of what ppl think when they hear colorado. like u picture beautiful forests everywhere and mountain scenery, but the springs is like this: you are in the dry ass plains looking at the pretty mountains way in the distance and wishing u were up there instead. some ppl like being down here bc u get less snow and still have a nice view of the mtns but im not into it. i way prefer the actually being up in there, its so much more scenic. also its windy as FUCK in in my area. and its a military town w 2 air force bases and the air force academy so just skip over this city if ur not into gun-totin conservatives. this is like the bible belt of colorado.

Denver is kinda same deal wrt being in city/metro area looking at the mtns in the distance but i like city scapes and at least theres more to fucking do up there. rent prices are ridiculous tho but i think thats true of this whole state unless u go somewhere more rural and/or shitty. Boulder is fun cuz its like an artsy college town and its right up against the mountains but again, fucking expensive. and it set me on edge how every1 walking around there looked like instagram models who run vegan living blogs......

But i digress. whatever u do dont move to pueblo or cañon city. those to me are just a continuation of new mexico but with less going for them. like theres a reason all the prisons are in cañon city.

in conclusion theres a lot of pretty stuff to see here but u usually have to drive a ways outside of where u live to see it. If youre rly into hiking and camping and general outdoorsy shit youll probably like it here. or if youre a pothead then i guess its a no brainer. Regardless just be ready for the altitude and just how dry it is 🥵

so i’ve finally finished ffvii remake and here are my thoughts. mostly positive

if you’re going in expecting it to be fully like the original 100% then you’re probably going to be disappointed. but overall, this is one of the FEW games that i actually completed which is goOD

> battle system wise. It’s quite intuitive and wasn’t as difficult as i thought it would be. then again, i played it on easy mode too so hahaha it was rly fun tho > the story really brings your emotions to places gods.... jessie’s death felt so mUCH harder bc she was supposed to die. it wasn’t something that happened bc the enemy’s aim is good or anything but... it hurts knowing that it could’ve been avoided bUT SHE MUST DIE. IM CRYING. I DONT WANT HER TO DIE.

> love the wall street market. love the corneo trio and love leslie. leslie’s backstory is so good and i just love the whole wall street market sidequests and errand runs !! and madam m.... andrea and sam...... they have a special place in my heart as my parents. they helped us even tho they didn’t have to. does that mean that have taken a liking to us ?? they make me feel like i wanna make them proud idk why. > i love how barret looks back at midgar, to marlene and promising that he will be back except for a lot longer than he thought when he made her that promise and it just ..... tears my heart out ;w; > shinra’s building is FUCKING beautiful. im not going to lie. the common area, the lobby, the virtual reality and even the fucking toilet is more beautiful than my country is goddamn. AND THEY ARE ALL IN THE SAME BUILDING......... love this !! > domino’s role is a lot more integrated too. i dont remember if he was part of avalanche group in the og series (altho i doubt so) but i love that idea.. i love the idea of avalanche having different cells and helping each other at times even tho they dislike what barret’s cell is doing. it’s amazing and it’s a good setting for a vs shinra scenario. you have more people interested in protecting the planet, which is ... sort of something we’re seeing in the real world too. more ppl are just not ignorant anymore, more people are being aware of the effects of the current system on the environment. good job there !! > the ending is also gorgeous too. defying fate, walking into the portal and the scenes that make up all of it are so dynamic. you get a sense of courage there in the face of something so uncertain and scary. > and also i love how this remake has some changes but overall implemented all the parts i love about the og. it makes us think about the og series as we go along, reminding us that the original ffvii exist and still important to the overall ffvii series. it isn’t just brushing the original series to the side and bringing in something rather new. i love the connectedness and reminding us where this came from and not something that’s an ‘improved’ version or w/e > i died 3 times at the last bike boss battle. but then again i suck at fighting so lmao > and... they did a great job with their expressions, their individual quirks and body language. they really brought them to life and show us how they are feeling without the characters explicitly stating out themselves. ;w; it’s gorgeous, i love how expressive they are. > I WILL PROTECT CHADLEY WITH MY L I F E > also i think sephiroth is going into the point that he isn’t human anymore? that emotions just roll off his back and he can’t hear the voices of despair which is kinda... sad itself. but ah .. slaps him a bit anyway > tseng commenting on how the destruction of s7 can be thought in a way that they are giving back the people to the lifestream for what midgar has taken from them with sucking up mako is so dARK LIKE YO, SIR............. i see ur point bUT THAT’S RLY DARK > how tf old is tseng anyway. he looks the same in aerith’s flashback AND now. like.... are u even human, tseng?? do u secretly have jenova’s anti-aging cells?? +w+ > BIGGS LIVED SO YAY. AND DAMN I HOPE WEDGE DIDN’T DIE IN SHINRA BUILDING OR ELSE IM GONNA- > also hi kunsel > and lastly, i love the whispers idea. it’s a really cool and daring element to implement, considering the controversy that’s going to come from it. it really brings the different timelines into perspectives and how it represents a certain part of the fanbase. i love how barret thanked it for saving his life too and then theirs after the fight mini-game. it’s like,,, while u hate it for causing the fall of the plate, u can rly also feel grateful for their help ?? i love that we get a glimpse of what could potentially happen differently tho, even if some major scenes still stuck the same

excuse me while i dive into excessive detail abt my garden :')

so. so. we moved here smth like 9 years ago, at which point the previous owners had a chicken coop and wooden deck taking up most of the backyard. (side note: i'm almost certain there wasn't adequate space for the chickens)

credit goes to my mom for a lot of the major renovation into what it is now. the wooden deck was rotting and becoming increasingly dangerous, so with my brothers helping they all tore down the entire deck. it took a lot of time to physically stabilize and level the yard enough for it to be at least semi-functional after that, but we eventually ended up with a section of paver stones and a wide area of open soil

so much trial and error during these stages that im not going into bc im writing a blog post, not a novella, but suffice to say my current success was not easily or quickly won. i think the major turning point was when i did a "lasagna"/sheet mulch on the would-be garden area to enrich the soil, bc that was rly the first, big mark i made on the area

from there, it's grown finally into two planting beds made of those concrete blocks with 2 big holes cut out, which is important bc i wanted to and now have planted a ton in these "planting pockets" as i call them. they're marvelously appropriate for microgreens and also to keep track of small bulbs i want to see bloom but can't decide where to place permanently, lmao

in the last, idk, maybe 2 years ive rly leaned into it hard. now i have prolific blackberries, and i'm cutting down all the blackberries along the side yard after this season so the marionberry can replace it - natives > invasives, after all. (not that i can stop the blackberries from growing - they're all over the place, incl a lot of other ppl's property and sneaking over)

at the same time, my blueberry trio will have thoroughly established and my red raspberry should be doing great, considering how many berries we got off it this year, the year we bought it. goji berries are growing but slowly, so i'm not expecting much, but the gooseberry is taking off again. so wild, i love it. and the prickly pear cactus suffered root rot and i almost lost it, but i believe ive successfully rooted the topmost segment. it'll take time but i should eventually be able to try the cactus fruit. years tho.

also all my strawberry groundcover layers are doing rly well, and i get the occasional strawberry off them, tho they're mostly for evaporation control. it's still a challenge to grow a lot of veggies bc it's just not hot enough for them here, but im still doing rly good overall

oh, and my lemon tree is doing outrageously well... this year it's putting out leaves longer and wider than my hand. that's new. and the baby lemon tree i grew from seed from the first-ever harvested lemon from the original tree is putting out So Fucking Much new growth, i'm thrilled

my various planting areas are doing super well, too. rly beginning to fill them in. i have pink jasmine trellising by the front door and it's getting so full; two kinds of lilac along the front path; newly, a pretty and fragrant pink-blooming weigela shrub. three canna lillies (which aren't actual lillies, which i refuse to grow anywhere bc they're immensely toxic to cats) all with different flowers, and for the first time i found some seeds before they had developed their rly hard outer shell, so i'm trying to grow some more from seed. exciting!

im quite confident that the front long & skinny & hella shallow planter will have its usual forest of arugula, endive, and sage - but will hopefully also have miners lettuce. oh and the mum that somehow became a giant shrub in a tiny pot set in said long planter. ive had to brace it multiple times, it's sheer size is unreal

and im discovering that hellebores in our area remain evergreen thru summer after they're 2nd-3rd established year. just the leaves ofc, but it's still rly cool, i'm so proud of them. and i finally have some outdoor ferns that have stabilized and come back multiple times!

born in san jose, california, roman lived with his parents and little sister clarissa until the age of eight, when his mom left them in pursuit of an old flame from high school that she apparently never got over. their dad tried to raise them for maybe… a few months… before realizing he had close to no parenting ability. he and clarissa were sent to live with their rich aunt in wisconsin, and they’ve been there ever since.

listen… their aunt turned out to be a Helicopter Mom to them and it was… super suffocating, especially to roman. she expected so much out of them and tried to force her own dreams onto them but he was just Not Feeling It. he’d always hit her with the “ur not even my real mom” line. despite being a rather intelligent dude with a relatively quick wit, he put the bare minimum into school (especially around the halfway point in high school) … but still lowkey wanted to do well. he was the guy who always found a way to get test answers inconspicuously and found ways to work around the turnitin system, ya feel? tl;dr: smart and capable, but incredibly unmotivated

when he was fifteen, he found out (while eavesdropping on one of his aunt’s phone calls) that his dad had gotten remarried and had twins with his new wife, a girl and a boy. furious over the fact that this was kept a secret from him for two years, he went to rant about it to his sister, who told him that they should just keep pretending like they don’t know. roman suddenly couldn’t hear, and during dinner that night, he brought it up and it was an angsty time.

after this revelation, he began Acting Out more because he hated the idea that their dad just sent them away almost like it was nothing but ended up raising an entirely new family of his own afterward. it started to feel like it was him and his sister against the world, and even to this day he would do anything for her. he got into fights a lot in high school because he gets defensive and doesn’t know when to Stop. his temper is… so short…

he took a photography class his junior year high school and just… really enjoyed it?? it was practically the only class he actually wanted to Try in. his teacher noticed this, and they ended up being pretty close. when roman wasn’t out messing around, he spent a lot of time hanging in the classroom and talking about life and photography. probably the One adult he respected, but his teacher ended up moving to new york shortly after he graduated high school. it felt like he was being abandoned once again (yikes!!!) even tho he knew it had nothing to do with him.

but yeah, for the past few years, roman has just been studying film (his aunt thinks he’s there for engineering but he did a switchy switch… haha keep it a secret!), doing freelance photography on the side, and fuckin’ shit up ! his sister is currently going to school in california, and her decision to attend berkeley lowkey rubbed him the wrong way since it’s relatively close to where their dad lives and he doesn’t want thim to reach out to clarissa or anything because he’s supposed to be dead to them.

growing up lana was always a huge social butterfly. jst literally…. knew everyone n everyone definitely knew her. she ws one of those girls tht ws kind of impossible to ignore or forget. very animated, always made u feel like u were the centre of the universe whenever she spoke to u, always made it feel like u were best friends even if ud only spoken to her once. she has this magnetic way abt her tht is kind of hard to find in real life. it’s something ud only rly expect out of a movie character
