Vanellope VS. Turbo: A Mini Analysis!
There are a million reasons why Turbo’s reveal in Disney’s Wreck-it Ralph is such an iconic and memorable scene. A scene that I and many others have replayed ever since 2012 and its impact has never left our minds. It solidified King Candy/Turbo as one of Disney's top villains ever created, surprising and shocking viewers with a plot twist that Disney hasn’t been able to overthrow with their other movies before they abandoned villains until King Magnifico but he sucks so. He WISHES he was as charismatic as King Candy plz-
But this analysis isn’t just about King Candy/Turbo, it’s also about Vanellope Von Schweetz. She’s the most important ingredient to making this scene work and play out the way it does and ultimately why it’s so fucking cathartic. ( More so than Ralph’s fight against Cy-Bug Turbo in my opinion) After watching how it was originally story boarded, the crew behind WiR perfected this scene with a specific detail that they changed. In the early storyboard, Vanellope causes King Candy’s vehicle to crash, causing him to glitch and transform into Turbo in front of the cameras. While I love love love the extended race between Vanellope and King Candy and sort of wished it could have been longer in the actual film, I am content that they didn’t go with the direction. In the movie, King Candy is revealed after trying to beat/kill Vanellope with his horn rod/pole thingy from his kart, she grabs it and glitches due to stress/adrenaline/her emotions, her blue glitch traveling through the cane and making contact with King Candy, finally putting down the facade he had on for 15 years and revealing him as Turbo to the characters in the film and the audience. It’s such a small detail, it only happens in a second, but it’s all it took for the start of his downfall and his eventual demise.
And this is why it brings me catharsis every time I watch this scene. I could never put it into words before, but it’s beyond satisfying that the end of King Candy’s horrible reign starts with Vanellope and her glitch. The very same glitch that he caused trying to delete her code and remove her place from the game. The glitch that he used as an excuse to turn everyone in Sugar Rush against her. He usurped her throne and tried to ruin her life. Despite this, he still had the audacity to shout “Get off of MY track!” earlier. It brings his Roadblasters incident back up, it was his choice, trying to steal the thunder of another racing game that just got plugged in because he couldn’t stand the idea of anyone taking his place, only for Turbo Time and Roadblasters to be unplugged. All of this circling back and biting him in the ass. Vanellope was the key all along and he knew it, he feared her despite never really having a conversation with her as far as we know (Vanellope asking Turbo “What the-?! Who are you!?” leads me to believe that if they did converse in the past, it was not in his true form and he was most likely already King Candy. Plus it just goes to show how fast he hijacked Sugar Rush), but you can just tell by how desperate he was to keep her from racing, he didn’t want anyone to take his place ever again.
So the scene continues and his famous line and breakdown goes as this: “I’m Turbo! The greatest racer ever! And I did not reprogram this world to let YOU and that halitosis riddled warthog TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME!” It’s just so ironic, unfair and hypocritical of him it makes my blood boil! And the way he’s raising his voice, jabbing his finger at her and Vanellope’s trying to shrink away from him as he yells at her face before he tries to murder her I just- So cruel, scary, wicked and disturbing! But Vanellope, this brave WARRIOR, is reminded of her glitch after Turbo calls her for what he believes is the last time. “End of the line, Glitch!” She takes a moment, everything slows down around her as she tries to control her glitch to escape Turbo. She glitches away, missing the wall and It ends up saving her life! I just cannot stress enough how beautiful that is! She used her disability, that everyone thought would simply doom her and the game, and embraced it when she needed it most. Her glitch, while it was suddenly given to her by circumstances she couldn’t control or prevent, she took control back. It’s her beautiful superpower and it’s empowering. After this scene, it’s the “end” of Turbo before he gets nom’d by a Cy-Bug. ( I want to note that he later says “I’m the most powerful VIRUS in the arcade”, part of me wants to believe he said that because clearly Vanellope bested him as the greatest racer ever but I doubt that was their intention lol)
They’re the embodiment of Selfishness vs. Selflessness. While Vanellope had everything taken away from her, she didn’t follow the same path as him. Turbo had everything taken from him, but it was his fault and he only ever thought about himself, never about the destruction he left behind. Hell, all she ever wanted was to be one of the racers, no matter how much they bullied her and ostracized her, she never ended up being evil like him even though it would be a perfect recipe to become a villain, this is also what makes her a mirror to Ralph. (Remember in that one deleted scene where she said she wanted to break the racers’ legs but come on can you blame her!?!?! She was so real for saying that.) VANELLOPE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER AAAA.
Before I ramble any further, I will forever love the choices that the writers made for the climax and it just ends up being an absolutely perfect and brilliant scene and I will continue to rewatch for the millionth time.

You could convince me to watch the *checks notes* loser rangers anime? 👀
SKCNCJSKSK!!!!!!
Were you a Power Rangers kid??? Are you over-saturated and bored by modern superhero media?? Do you long for a fresh take on the “dark side” of Sunday Morning cartoons that ISN’T grimdark and irony poisoned and lame?? Do you like absolutely incompetent cringefail losers and their hot murder girlfriends???!!? Then come on down to…
✨GO! GO! LOSER RANGER!✨
We’ve got it all! :
Protagonist that just fucking sucks at everything
Like. Really REALLY fucking sucks. At everything. Cant even figure out how to eat food. Hates everyone and has no friends. He’s just like me fr.
He’s like if Sasuke was the worst ninja ever like couldn’t even throw a kunai but still thought he was better than everyone else and kept the exact same pretentious attitude. I’m obsessed with him.
A fun, unique twist on the Power Rangers-esque Sunday Morning cartoons of our childhood that pokes fun at the 90s era camp of that genre of media while still feeling genuinely heartfelt and respectful to the spirit of the source material it’s satirizing
If villain bad, why sexy?
Hot Murder Lady
Genuinely just like a fun silly plot that isn’t too serious (yet) and can be enjoyed casually (or not casually if you’re a freak like I am) and really hits different if you were a power rangers kid like I was
Cool animation with a unique style that feels like a lot of love went into it
Did I mention if villain bad, why sexy??
HIBIKI SAKURAMA💅🏻💕💖💖🌸🌸
OOOHHHH YOU WANNA WATCH GO! GO! LOSER RANGER SOOOOO BAD

Personal Case: Isabella von Valancius
"…you are given access to very sensitive information. As a new Master of Whispers you are the first to ensure it will never end up in the wrong hands. Do we have an understanding here, mistress von Gellman?"
Name: Isabella Lenner
Place of Birth: 'Isabella of Llorn', Astra Telepathica
Mother: Sirsha Lenner (deceased)
Father: Unknown
Psy-level Prognosis: Epsilon
Assignment: Training Facility 'Awakening', Grade 2, Astra Telepathica
They say, people born in the void possess a strange gift of luck. Born in the warp, on board a Black ship, Isabella was lucky to keep her life, indeed, even though not a single drop of a true voidborn was in her veins.
A group of people inside Astra Telepathica was collecting children whose parents were confirmed psykers for a long-term experiment. The desired outcome was a program that would allow to control the moment of the first manifestation and and level of psy-abilities.
The children were provided with access to psykana practices intended to prepare them for future manifestation along with special medication. Needless to say, a fair amount of Imperium loyalty indoctrination was a part of the training.
But, luckily to some 'students,' not every trainer in the facility saw them a nothing more but future tools. Adept Mossmore became the first person in Isabella's life who divided from the letter of the law to better serve its spirit, but not the last. She made Isabella's days tolerable, at least, before the sanctioning.
"…Lord Captain insisted on erasing some… details."
Name: Isabella Lenner
Psy-level: Iota
Assignment: Training Facility 'Awakening', Grade 3, Astra Telepathica
During the sanctioning, Isabella's luck turned away, leaving her alone against the horrors of warp for what seemed to her like days. Isabella found her way back, but the experience she survived damaged her psyche, blocking out a major part of her potential.
Even broken, she still had a decent psy-level to work with. Equipped with a set of transducer implants and a psy-amplifier, she started her training as a future battle psyker. Alas, a psychological block didn't allow her to produce a single decent attack. Her implants were recalibrated and Isabella was transferred to the Telepathic training group.
One of the adepts observing her suspected that with time psychological block might be healed and insisted on replacing the amplifier with the inhibitor system in case of such events, but was ignored.
"..some people we had a chance to interview mentioned, that during her 3rd Grade training years, Isabella was trying to find any tracks of some young man who went through the sanctioning two years before her but she was unsuccessful."
Name: Specialist Lenner
Psy-level: Iota
Assignment: 'Penitent Halo', Navis Imperialis
The speculations about future assignments were a major part of 3rd graders' talks. The most popular version was they were trained to be future Inquisition acolytes.
Isabella's first assignment turned out to be far from this. Assigned into the supervision of the fleet Commissar of 'Penitent Halo', she was used as a mental wire to find the focuses of disloyalty at their very birth.
"…it took me years — and my personal connection to a certain member of the Holy Ordoses — to confirm the fact my first assignment was nothing more than a payment. One of 'Awakening' wards was in debt to the 'Halo's captain, so he gifted me to her as a toy. It explains why she felt so sure about herself parading me at her 'parties'. Good thing, a person of Captain Reynolds' caliber happend to be among the usual trash of her 'friends'."
Name: Bosun Lenner
Assignment: 'Blood of Phlebas', Navis Imperialis
The second assignment left Isabella in confusion. As soon as she reported her arrival for duty, she was told that her services to a ship disciplinary division is not required. And moreover, from now and on she was forbidden to use her abilities onboard of 'Blood of Phlebas' by a special dercee of captain Reynolds.
Assigned to the ship supplies division, she spent months trying not to draw any more extra attention than her shaved head with a full set of psyker implants already did.
One day she was asked by her superior officer to read the mind of the person he suspected of stealing. Isabella resisted, remembering the captain's order, but her superior told her that the captain also ordered to finish this situation by the end of the shift. After all, the captain doesn't have to know how this problem was solved.
Isabella agreed to help and this was the first step for her to become a part of the crew.
"…when I met her last year and we talked Lord Captain to Lord Captain she told me why she saved me from 'Halo' just to send me away. Lord Captain Miranda Reynolds lost a sister to a Black Ship and never heard from her again."
Name: Midshipman Lenner
Assignment: 'Blood of Phlebas', Navis Imperialis
Celebration of Isabella's promotion was spoiled by the news: their fleet group was assigned to escorting some piligrim ships. The captain's… displeasement with a new mission was palpable in the air, since everybody know what it was: someone stole her glory, leading the strike force to a pirate nest 'Blood of Phlebas' and its group found.
Hovewer, someone had to make sure piligrim's ships are in no need of anything, and checking their decks, Isabella sensed some psy-active cargo. The presence was growing and all Isabella had time to do was to send other people away before something happened.
She never done this before and, happily, never had a chance to try it again, but somehow by her bare will itself she managed to collapse an opening warp manifestation. The news of this event spread fast among the starts and soon Lenner's name was known across the sector.
It sounded a lot alike surname of von Valancius side branch, de le Nier, whose trails got lost somewhere in the hives of Gheisthaven. After the confirmation, she was requested to be re-assigned to von Valancius dynasty flagship.
"…we share your concern, but we are aware of the situation. The fact that information about psyker abilities of Midshipman Lenner was not spread widely was the result of a certain decision. The legend of a brave naval officer saving pilgrims is more needed at the moment than improving of the general image of imperial psykers."
Name: Isabella von Valancius de le Nier af Cadian
Psy-level: Theta
Assignment: 'Lightness of Being', von Valancius dinasty
Isabella von Valancius (nee Lenner) reported her arrival to von Valancius's flagship. The materials of the following events are stored in different files.
"…she jumped from Iota to high Theta? Interesting."

So I’ve been thinking about your videos on you reading your comic (which is very fun btw) and you keep mentioning on how small and round Link was compared to how he is now, and I have a very stupid scientific reason on why he went from round to lanky
In the beginning of the comic when link is a squishy little thing, it is winter time, to put it simply, he was more round and compact in order to conserve body heat. Obviously. And he gets more lanky as the comic goes on in order to cool off since it’s getting warmer. Link’s just do that naturally.
😂😂😂 I love this so much! It's just nature taking its course. Logical.
An alternative naturalistic approach would be the travails of adolescence hitting him hard and fast, kind of like a bird, forcing him to go from this:
To this:
(The guy with the orange slacks is obviously Gan)
