i dont trust any big scale production of animal products but i think free range organic eggs is the best i can do cause i dont know anyone with hens that can sell me eggs on a regular basis. That would be good though if i could get in contact with a small hen farm. Also are eggs bad for you im only doing this if its good for my body nothing else

beyond delighted about the fact that just now, after spending 5 hours at work poring over radical leaflets from the 1810s (most of them self-published, home-printed, hand-distributed, satirical, and intent on abolishing private property), i left my office to get lunch & was immediately handed a self-published, home-printed, satirical anti-christmas-goose pamphlet by an elderly man wearing a newsie cap. truly humanity is always the same everywhere

oh no. i feel like if i do not consume an entire load of bread in the very near future i will simply cease to exist.
#very uh. very worried about my finances right now#like. i'm fine. i have some savings. but i also just got to put something into my savings for the first time in a VERY long time and now#now i immediately have to take it out#and i'm getting stressed out about buying groceries#because if i dip into my savings here what about there? where is the line?#and i owe so much to taxes but i can't exactly afford getting less of my pay......#my last paycheck was $0.66 more than my rent#my insurance is refusing to reimburse the last of my electrolysis visits from last year and like#i'm SO over the fight but that's $120. that i really actually kinda need?#and i'm starting to get that funny in the head feeling about wondering how i'm going to feed myself#i still feel so much shame about that funeral i went to years ago and my only thought during the reception after was about#how there was just so much food and i could actually eat my fill#i have leftovers for dinner tonight and it's fine but.... making a lovely vegan dish wasn't the best choice tbh#i feel like if i don't have a large helping of bread and meat i'm going to go insane#and it really REALLY doesn't help that i've apparently lost the ability to eat in the mornings#so i'm at quite a significant fuel deficit and it's stacking#but no matter how hungry i am in the morning the concept of processing solid food is just repulsive and daunting#eating a clif bar at 9am would take literally all of my spoons for the day#i was looking at protein shakes since i can handles *drinking* breakfast#but the cheapest one that meets my dietary requirements is $35 for a 12pack#and i'm uh. i'm worrying over spending $10 on produce this week#personal#and nevermind that i don't have the spoons to even GO shopping (:#(on an aside i switched back to my regular melatonin gummies last night and i Actually Slept. so hopefully that will continue and help some)#i just want to curl up in a ball on the floor and have someone gently place a roll of bread and hunk of cheese next to me in my enclosure#also it's photophobia season and i still feel like i haven't recovered from saturday#got too much sunlight and was nauseaus for half the day#my body feels so bad

that post abt eating vegetarian/vegan food in addition to normal food made me think about when Theo and I decided to start eating more vegetarian meals/less meat. and I was telling my dad about it (he is v Meat And Potatoes), and he was. sort of baffled and horrified. and I was reassuring him, you know, we still eat lots of the same things, we haven't stopped eating meat or anything, when we all get together for dinner it will be just as it was, we aren't vegan or anything, and so on.
"wait - what does vegan mean?"
"oh! you know, like, vegetarians don't eat meat, but vegans don't eat anything that came from an animal"
(perplexed silence)
"wow....I mean can they eat eggs??"
"....well, no, not really, you know, chickens and all..."
"wow..............."

re: my last reblog, blabbering off here because i dont wanna bother op with tags (i recommend reading the whole article and not just the part op posted), but overall a good article I think, the downsides of wool are not talked about nearly enough. that said I didnt like thry brought up Tencel (a fiber made out of foob pulp) because well. wood pulp isnt really the most sustainable material either. and that Noize brand they brought up is expensive as hell. and also plant based leather alternatives are hard to come by and also to my knowledge often coated with plastic to make them more durable, so not really a good or easy option for most consumers. that's one thing I'd like to know more about: are wool clothes and synthetic clothes (of similar price range and construction) as durable? because synthetics have a lower carbon footprint, but in my anecdotal experience they last for a shorter period/less wears, so does wool "pay itself back" better by being able to be worn longer? but on the other hand, pure fool garments are often also not that durable (depending on the type of garment and how much wear and tear it encounters ofc), which is why wool gets mixed with other more durable fibers so often. but on the other hand wool can be easier to mend. idk lots to think about and I'm no expert I just love. fibers

Feeling nostalgic because I'm cooking my great-grandma's caramel roll recipe and might have figured out a better way to make it gluten free. This dough can actually be rolled out! And it's not pizza dough this time!

ai! what’s your favorite food/recipe? I realized I haven’t added you to the cookbook (my mutuals list) and everyone gets a designated recipe :)
sorin hiiii!!! your cookbook sounds so fun omg i would love to be part of it ^-^ choosing a favorite food is always sooo difficult for me :/ i just love so many stuff it’s hard to pick but i’m crazy for carbs especially rice and pasta!! i can eat my weight in those two t-t ALSO can we please count wine as food just for this once? can we do that bc i’m a huge wine connoisseur :< but if we can’t then i’ll have to go with my all time fave (and also my comfort food) that is “sarma”. it’s basically grape leaves stuffed with rice but you can also add minced meat and other ingredients if you feel like playing around with flavors but since i’m a pescetarian i have the vegetarian version always :3 IT’S SO GOOD !!!!

it's kind of funny to me, albeit very interesting, that I'm a very picky eater and yet have also become a locavore and something of a 'foodie' per se, I really enjoy food (and cooking!), and going to unique and sometimes upscale restaurants serving ~local ingredients~ and I really value a quality dining experience and learning the character of new places through their food. yet I got a 29 on that picky eater test lol
#is this a contradiction? like im just wondering if there's other picky eaters out there who also are really into food#picky eaters get stereotyped into 'so you only eat chicken nuggets and french fries'#but I almost never go out to eat unless i'm traveling#I cook all my meals and I love discovering new combinations of foods and flavors I like and I eat quite healthy#(I don't really like fried foods or fast food so like. what foods one is picky about varies way more than is commonly realized)#like an average dinner for me is wild-caught salmon with garlic-sauteed swiss chard and wild rice#but the number of foods i do not like is. through the roof according to mainstream society or smth.#and it's true i dislike a Lot of vegetables and fruits. but the things i do like I try to eat a lot of#there's a pretty small sliver of flavors and ingredients i enjoy from the total global pool of foods. but within it i try to be creative#and i love food and cooking more than anything#food is one of the greatest joys of life for me#idk. i just have not heard about others having this sort of dichotomy and i'd like to know if this is a thing#maybe bc i'm an ecologist? like all my coworkers are either vegans or hunters or locavores#i'll eat p much any game or fish#my desire to eat local is an ideological one as much as a flavor and nutritional one#and because of my ulcerative colitis i have additional restrictions (not enforced. but Recommended) on my diet#such as reducing processed sugar for unrefined sugars and using gluten alternatives when i bake etc#it's just an interesting mix of things imo and it seems inexplicable to people i try to explain it to irl
