Oooh, I think my favorite part was the scene of Dream biting his tongue:

At one point, he actually bites his tongue.  The pain is sharp and abrupt, quickly accompanied by the coppery taste of blood filling his mouth, and he doesn’t know what to do, that’s his blood , spilling into his own mouth, warm and sickly. He wants to spit it out, wants to press a hand to his tongue, wants to cry out just to know that he can, that he hasn’t damaged himself and invited another hundred years of silence with his own teeth. Hob is in the next room. Dream swallows.

I don't know, the symbolism of Dream swallowing the blood in his mouth instead of asking for help is a visual I'm fond of.

Something I found challenging was just coming up with what to include in the montage of human things Dream was struggling with. It was definitely many night of me laying in bed thinking "what is a common human experience that you wouldn't think much of but if experience for the first time could be framed as horrific and terrifying?" Definitely a fun challenge though! It's fun to look at things I've come to think of as normal from a different perspective (for instance, actually thinking about it yeah hitting your funny bone for the first time would be absolutely terrifying).

okay so this is actually in the next chapter but every time i read it i’m like “……..FUCK.”

There’s a kind of storm so consuming it fills the world—feels like there’s only ever been this grey and looming darkness, blots out all color, and the sight of the sun is a fond and distant memory, almost a fantasy, hard to believe that it ever even existed. So long spent in shadow, recalling the warmth feels cruel, and not long after that you forget there was such a thing as sunlight to begin with.

12. Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
