my hand-knit dallas stars blackout jersey (sweater edition) is complete! just in time for game 1 round 1 of their 2024 playoff run 💚

this project was such a labour of love and the pictures above are the culmination of three months of planning, two months of knitting and too many days procrastinating weaving in all the ends 🥲

i realized a lot of people aren't weirdos and if there isn't a marvel-ass half/post-credits scene will not sit through half-hour long credits, and so a lot of people probably skipped Endwalker's final credits...

...which means a lot of people probably skipped that montage of shots of your adventures in the post-EW patch series

which means they might have missed that they snuck in two secret shots at the end that aren't a memory of your adventures!

I'm laying in bed rn at fucking midnight sobbing my eyes out because I was looking at the dad!ghost post by @ave661 and I'm having thoughts about soap and ghost as parents

I'm also blaming @rainerestored for bringing that single dad Ghost fic to my attention

And here's the thing !!! I've almost never truely enjoyed a parent au enough to think about it for more than like a day

And here I am coming back to this stupid (affectionate) idea again and again

Why?

Because I keep imagining that soap and ghost however they aquired said child (biological means or otherwise) I imagine that neither were ready to leave the military yet, but at the same time refuse to give up their child. She's a tiny little thing, her eyes light up when she sees them. She giggles and blows bubbles at them when they look at her.

They start staggering their missions so that when one is gone, the other is on base taking care of the child. And when they return both partner and child are waiting for them on the tarmac. The little girl babbles and smiles and giggles as dad or pops takes them into their arms, lifts her into the air and spins her around before bringing her into their chest. The rest their nose on her head, breathing in their scent. Their partner crowds into the space as well, and hugs them close.

And layer they go to their room and lie on the bed. Whoever was away lays curled around the tiny little girl, the partner sets a glass of water on the side table, presses a kiss to both of their foreheads and lays down as well, running their hand up and down their partner's arm softly. And they fall asleep like that
