ariel spends most of her time in the pool, which is to be expected. merida and mulan have almost instantly bonded and are constantly hanging out, which also makes sense. what confuses me is that jasmine has apparently taken a specific shine to bartending and is just spending all day mixing drinks for some reason??? okay girl ))

note ; been a while since i’ve written anything for merida, hopefully this isn’t too ooc lol ^^

you’d known each other for as long as either of you could remember — having spent most of your childhoods sneaking around the halls of the castle and out of sight of prying eyes with her as your friendship developed far beyond what would be appropriate for a princess and her attendant to have

(not that either of you cared about such standards and expectations, of course, but for the sake of avoiding another argument with her family you’d both decided to try and keep your bond a secret)

the shift from friendship to relationship for you both was an extremely slow one, a gradual change that was years in the making and felt both wholly right and somewhat overdue by the time that merida finally took that risk and dragged you off in the middle of a stuffy formal dinner and kissed you breathless behind one of the ancient castle doors — and for as startling as it was in the moment, it felt more like a natural progression of things than anything else

from there very little went on to change between the two of you: you two still snuck out of your rooms in the middle of the night to indulge in all of the left over treats from that day’s evening meal, she still ranted endlessly to you about her relationship with her mother and you were still there to comfort and assure her, you still accompanied her out into the nearby forest with the overused excuse of ‘keeping an eye on the princess so she doesn’t get hurt’, and you still shared glances in the middle of the banquets her parents forced her to attend that wordlessly conveyed her endless frustration at the outfit she’d been shoved into and your promise of helping her escape the festivities at the first opportunity

but there were little additions here and there that were brought on by your freshly budding romantic relationship

the lingering touches when you helped her adjust her clothing or fetched her something to eat or drink from the far end of the table — not quite long enough to draw suspicion, but intimate enough to have you both averting your eyes and covering your smiles with bitten lips or a cough

the fleeting glances whenever you’d pass each other in the castle halls, her usually in the middle of a lecture from her mother and you always in the middle of some task assigned by your superior — only lasting a second or two at most before you went your separate ways, but more than enough to have your moods lightening as your minds drifted away from the ‘now’ to that not-so-distant ‘soon’ when you’d finally get to spend time together again

the nights spent sneaking out of your rooms now used as an excuse to do everything that couples should do now that there were no prying eyes to judge you — she was by no means a good dancer, never had been, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care as you clumsily stomped and spun around the empty courtyard; smiling and giggling until your sides and cheeks ached, so disgustingly in love that you forget about why you need to hide yourselves from the world for just a little while

the horse rides out into the highlands where she gets to show off to you and gloat about her abilities and affections as freely as she longs to do back home — hitting bullseye after bullseye without a single miss just to hear your praise, and cheekily coaxing her horse to speed up or suddenly stop at random just so you’ll have to cling to her even tighter (of course you catch onto her plan after the first sudden stop, but you let her have her fun as it’s not often you two get the chance to be so affectionate with one another)

and, naturally, when you’re alone you two are much more affectionate with each other: kissing, cuddling, offering reassuring touches, and even doing stupid crap to make each other laugh

it’s difficult to be forced apart during the day and to be unable to express your love for each other as openly and proudly as you both crave, but somehow you still manage to keep your love for each other a secret like you’d agreed — or, well, it stays a secret from her parents and the other servants up until the whole bear situation… her brothers, on the other hand, found out a few months in when they went looking for some extra baked goods and found the two of you cuddling and sharing a large helping of sweets

(their silence was easily bought with the promise of extra food in the future, but the two of you remained on edge whenever any of the triplets lingered near her parents for longer than usual)

Merida vs Fiona who would win?

So I will assume that they are compelled to fight for some reason, and that will explain all OOC reactions as I cant actually seeing them fight. Also that Fiona will retain her human form and not have the advantages of being an ogre because she was shown as human in the youtube video.

Merida and Fiona are very different characters when it comes to fighting. Merida is a horseback archer. She has great mobility and and immense skill will a bow on par with those of myth and legend. But she is not much of an up close and personal kind of fighter, it was never an interest of her or anything she was taught.

Fiona is shown to be a competent martial artist, able to take on a gang of men single handily and defeating them one by one without aid. But most importantly for this fight she has the matrix level ability to dodge arrows shot at her from close range.

Scenario #1: Gladiatorial Combat

When I think of two different characters forced to fight I think of some sort of gladiatorial combat. Where both are placed in a small arena and forced to fight for sport.

The lack of mobility will either force Merida to attempt to evade on foot (I assume she does not have a horse here), or to stand and try to shoot Fiona with her bow. Her best bet is to try and force Fiona back until she can wear her down and get a lucky hit with her bow.

For Fiona she will want to get in close range with Merida. Get rid of the range advantage and allow her to use her martials arts abilities. Because she can dodge arrows and has physics defying movement she can get in close.

This scenario favors Fiona. I would say more times then not she beats Merida easily.

Scenario #2: Battle Royale

Another type of common fight for this is more of the battle royale situation. Where the contestants are placed in a large area and have to find and attack the other. For us it will just be the two of them fighting in a wooded area.

Fiona has to find Merida first and preferably take her by surprise. Due to her poor situational awareness and low mobility over long distances she is more likely going to be reacting to an attack though.

Merida will be able to use her horse and bow to great advantage here. With some tracking skill she can blitz Fiona often, and if she misses she will be out of range before Fiona can attack her. With lots of short encounters she can wait for Fiona to not spot her in time or to fail to dodge an arrow.

This scenario heavily favors Merida. Fiona would have to either set up a trap to win or get very lucky.

Conclusion:

Who will win is heavily dependent on the circumstance of the fight. When I picture a question like this I typically think of it as scenario #1. So I would say that Fiona is the likely victor.

But in all honesty I think the two together would make a wonderful team more then enemies. They would get along very well and understand what the other has went through and would feel no need to fight the other.
